Lenovo y500 black screen after the lenovo logo slows down boot time

Question: Lenovo y500 black screen after the lenovo logo slows down boot time

Recently i bought a Lenovo y500 laptop with 12 ram and 16gigs of SSD. It came with Windows 8 by deffault and what i wanted was to install Linux Ubuntu 12.04 alognside with the Windows 8. It didn't work out, because i could only log into linux. When i tried to log in in Widonws it said: "unknown command drivemap invalid EFI file path, so i used the one key recovery. It loaded Windows but i noticed 2 things:1st. After loading the Lenovo logo the screen turns black without the cursor on it and stays that way for about 17-25 sec. That means that from 20 sec boot time now it is 40+.How could i fix that one?2nd. After creating the backup i divided the 1tb disk into smaller discs and after the rocovery they were the way i left them with all the games and media on them. I thought that the one key recovery would undo the partiton i have made. The 2nd one isnt bugging me out so much but the 20 secs extra boot time do. The changes i have made in bios are disabling secure boot and switching boot mode from UEFI to legacy. After that i switched secure boot to enabled and the boot mode to UEFI as it was in the beginning.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo y500 black screen after the lenovo logo slows down boot time

hi psskobraa,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. The additional 17-25sec boot time is probably caused by the UEFI Firmware / UEFI boot loader (see this flowchart) - this probably got modified when you installed Ubuntu. Can you try to boot back into the BIOS, press F9 to load default settings then press F10 to save It settings. If this doesn't work, is the boot time the same when Disabling Secure Boot and UEFI set to Disabled/Legacy first?

2. OneKey Recovery usually reimage the OS partition only (i.e. C:\) and will not affect any other partitions (i.e. D:\)

Welcome to the forum!

Could you tell us a bit more about the history of events that led up to your problem today?   What Operating system do you have installed on the system?

When was the last time it was working properly, yesterday?   Did you shut it down, or hibernate or sleep?

If you restart now, can you get into BIOS?  If you go into BIOS, can you see your hard disk recognized?

If you try to restart and press F12, can you get a boot device list?  If so, is your hard disk recognized?

Do you have any disks in the optical drive?

If you check the USB ports, are any of them broken with pins bent touching each other?

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop for the past two years.Apart from the famous battery issue with this laptop, I have not had any problems with this unit. Since yesterday, I am getting a black screen after logon to Windows XP.Yesterday, I was able to log on and then the laptop will go black after a minute or two after log on. Today, it has gotten worse, as soon as the Windows XP logo comes on, the screen goes black after a fewseconds. I also noticed that the Lenovo Icon displayed during Power On is also Teal in Color. I tried booting the laptop in Safe mode and the problem still remains.I tried booting the laptop using Windows XP CD and try to repair the Windows XP installation using R optionand still the screen goes black.  Please advice if this is a hardware or software or virus issue.

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 - Teal Color Lenovo Icon at Power Up then Windows XP logo then Black Screen

Hi there.  I have the same problem.  My screen is black all the time now with odd spurts of light occuring just after loading. My laptop is sadly out of guarantee so I cannot get any telephone help from IBM, however the chap I spoke to did hint that it was a problem with the LCD cable. Then I phoned my local PC repair man and he said it sounds like the bulb, because I can still faintly see the outline of whats on the screen through the "blackness". So.  Not sure! Have you come to any resolution yet?  Meantime I have my laptop pluggged into an external monitor until I get it fixed.  Susan

Turning on computer gives 'Lenovo' splash/logo. It will stay there or go black - sometimes "-" or "_" will appear blinking, and return to 'Lenovo'. Pressing F1 or F12 gives the appropriate menu's, but to no avail. To turn off: sometimes a push on the power button is enough, other times it's the good old 'hold for a few seconds' that's needed.Pushing F2, Shift+F2, F8 or any of the like doesn't seem to do nothing.A RECOVERY DISK wasn't included, only one full of drivers. I didn't try to upgrade to some newer Windows or anything. Current version is 8.1 - don't know what could have caused this. Must be something with HD and the partitions... I can run other operating systems from Live-CD, or USB flash-drives and from there I get the error message that the Windows wasn't properly shut down and I can access the HARD DISK PARTITION in a READ ONLY mode. Answer:H515s desktop won't boot or recover! Black screen/Lenovo logo and BIOS only.

Hey there. It seems like the Windows partition may be corrupted. You need to contact Lenovo support for a recovery disk so that your computer can get back to normal. However, if you are out of warranty, you can create a Windows 8.1 disk at this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media. You want to use a different computer to do this, and use a flash drive larger than 4GB. Then, when you boot into your computer that's having issues, you want to press F11 or F12 once it turns on. Then, go to boot setup, make sure CSM is on, and choose your USB drive as the boot option.

Answer:Lenovo G50-30 : getting black screen after lenovo logo

Hi zoheb_syed ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Doing factory reset would delete everything and repartitioned with new Windows on it just like out of the box .
Lenovo splash screen is a good sign that power goes in the computer and the devices required for a working machine.
For as long as you back up your files , try doing the Lenovo Restore using the Novo key (no.2 page 9).
Just turn off the pc and use the Novo button to turn it on . Novo menu would give the System Recovery

Soon as done , create a local account and proceed.
If it goes to a black screen during the process , I recommend you call in tech support for repair.
Most likely there would be a problem with the GPU since rendering on Windows failed.
You can also check the display on any external monitor to see if the display would work externally to isolate LCD or cable issue .
If the computer finish up with the restoration then run Lenovo diagnostics.

Tech support can give you repair options or if BIOS update is neccessary .
Best check on your warranty for the type of repair service you would expect (either sending to depot or Onsite repair)
Considering the turn around time of the repair , which I know that you need it on a daily basis for work  Try above step and let us see how it works.

Hope this helped you get things done on your issue.

Hello there Lenovo Community, I am posting this message in order to request urgent help with the following issue: Background:  I am the owner of a Lenovo Y500 for about 16 months now. Over the course of these past months I had come across an issue by which Windows 8 would never be able to reboot properly ever. For example, an update for Windows or any other software would be installed and upon asked to reboot the system, the laptop would shut down as normal, but then upon restarting it would give a black screen.  This would have every time even if I simply wanted to reboot the system for any other reason. Upon restart, the laptop would display no image on its monitor. The only way I had managed to resolve this was by repeatedly hybernating/making the laptop sleep and restarting it (closing and reopening the monitor screen) for a X number of times until the display would reappear. From then onwards I stopped all windows updates and never restarted the computer. I always shut it down and then boot it back up again.  Last Friday however, upon the updating of Javascript, I was asked to restart the computer. I declined to restart the computer based on my past experience, and began to save up my work and close all the windows in preparation for a shut down. While doing this the laptop suddenly froze and the display went black. Ever since then the computer display will not work in spite of sleeping and restarting it countless times. ... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Y500 Black Screen

In order to provide an update on the matter,I had managed to send the laptop to my local Lenovo maintenance service which informed me a day later that the laptop required not only a new screen cable, but also a new motherboard. To be honest I sort of expected to hear about the screen cable because after an extensive web search it turns out that this is a common issue with lenovo Y500's.However, needing a completely new motherboard was a nasty surprise. Since the laptop is out of its warranty it would cost about 600USD as per the maintenance service, which then prompted to advise me to simply buy a new laptop. While I do not fully believe that I need a new motherboard and I will try to find a screen cable because it is relatively cheap, I am most likely going to buy a new laptop, and I am sorry to say Lenovo that it won't be one of your laptops.A complete breakdown of the laptop 15 months after I purchased it is simply too disappointing. Your laptops appear to be plagued with various issues.I'd rather fork a few extra hundred bucks rather than have a laptop break down so soon after my purchase.Thank you for your time.

Hello everyone,I'm having a serious problem with my lenovo y500 GT650. The graphic drivers seem to be don't work at all. I take out the 2nd GPU and disabled the first one in safe mode, that's how I'm able to see the screen. I'm running win 8.1 but I had the same problem with Win7 as well. And it's just been a few weeks that I'm facing such a problem, and have been using this laptop for 8 months so far. When the graphic card is enabled, the laptop boots, but login screen doesn't appear, laptop is being turned on, but it just shows black screen.P.S. I could use SLI before, and I have tried with drivers, 320.49, 331.82, 332.21, 334.89(the latest nvidia driver)Any help would be appreciated,Cheers

What i have tried: the keyboard is also unresponsive, bcz i held down a bunch of keys to see if it makes the beep noise. I closed the laptop lid to see if it goes into hibernation and waited 3 mins to see if it still does, so that when i open it i can see everything (it has worked before). nothing. i rebooted a bunch of times even with a second screen attached, tried to guess switch into projector mode with my function key and switch s... Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 "black screen in boot up after windows 7 logo"

Sounds like a corrupted file system, so try running chkdsk.

How to run System File Checker (SFC) or chkdsk from the Recovery ConsoleBoot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run SFC or chkdskIf you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above).

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

Hello, my Lenovo y500 laptop has not been working properly after normal shutdown (with fast boot on win8.1 enabled). After plugging AC adapter, laptop turned on by itself (I didn't press power button) but nothing appears on the screen - I hear quite loud fan from inside. So the screen is black, it doesn't even show 'Lenovo' logo. What's more, I can't even turn the laptop off by hitting power button! I can only do that by unplugging AC... Did someone experience such things?

Hello guys! I have a Y500 with Nvidia GT650 SLI. Two days ago when I turn the laptop on the screen did not display anything. The backlight was on so it was not pitch black but kind of dark gray (and you can see some sort of lights motion). When I connect an external monitor I can see the display. I selected the option to mirror the images on both screens just in case but only the external monitor shows the display. I though at first that it was a bad graphics card but I tested them using 3Dmark software and they performed ok. Then I though that the laptop monitor must be toasted and maybe thats it but the weird thing is that when I boot up the laptop using the external monitor attached I can see flickers of images on the laptop monitor. For example I can see for a second the LENOVO logo when booting up, I can see the mouse cursor for a second; when I fired up a computer game I could see some images of the game for a few seconds on the laptop monitor. So as you can see the behavior is strange. I removed the battery, removed the second graphics card, booted up with just one graphics card but it was no help. The last thing I tried was using the Windows 8 option to Remove everything and reinstall Windows. I did it but I still have the same issue. I really need some help here. Thanks.

Go into BIOS F1 setup, look in the startup menu.  I think the option is called "boot mode" or something like that.  The default is "quick" but you can also set it to "diagnostic" where instad of seeing the lenovo logo, you'll see diagnostic information from the BIOS.  See if that gives you any clues.

Hi guys,I have a T460S, everything working fine, except that when I turn it on, it takes around 10 seconds to pass the lonovo logo screen. It seems a little long to me, compared with T450S and T440S when it takes less than 2 seconds to pass the lonovo logo on boot. Is it just mine or is it something all T460S share?Things I already tried:- updating BIOS (v1.16)- restoring BIOS defaults- resetting internal battery

Hello, I am recently encountering Black Screen issues when my IdeaPad Z400 Laptop is shut down/sleeped for more than an hour. When I open I see only Black screen, Lenovo Logo doesn't show, no Back lights, Power LED is on, USB working , DVD is responding, Hard disk seems to be spinning. I can only power it on after N attempts of pressing the power button on/off. There are also times that the Lenovo Logo is showing but after 2 secs the power goes off. No beeping sound. I did a chkdsk and memtest and everything seems fine.

I just bought the Lenovo P400 Touch 14" laptop on Saturday at BestBuy. I bought the i5 version with 6gb of ram. After customizing a few things (installing Google Chrome, wallpaper, and adding a couple of other things), I went to Steam (the online gaming PC service) to download Red Orchestra 2 (as it was free this weekend). I got about half way through the download (5.7gb out of 10.7gb) when the computer got really slow. I was on Chrome on one tab looking at my messages, so I exited out of that and went to pause the download. The program froze and I figured it would pop up with "program not responding" and it did giving me options to close out of the program or wait. So I clicked wait, it still did not respond so I restarted the computer. When it turned on, the Lenovo logo came up as usual but it took a very long time, it then went to a black screen and stayed like that for another really long time. So I tried restarting it a couple of times more, but this time it said: Preparing Automatic Repair, and then the second time it said: Recovering Files, and finally the third time it came up with a blue screen giving me the option to retry the boot-up or proceed to the boot-up settings. I tried the boot-up settings (or whatever it said) and it went straight back to the black screen. I tried waiting it out, and then I tried (as I read on the internet) to go into safemode by hitting F8. None of this worked and I'm pretty frustrated that after a day of use, my brand new, nearly 600 dol... Read more

Answer:P400 Touch Black Screen Bootup after Lenovo Logo

Hi avellone5,

I'm sorry to hear what happened there....

If the system is fairly new without any important Files on it, try reloading Windows.
turn OFF the system and press the Onekey Recovery.
It is the button Beside the AC Adapter jack.

You should have an option to run Recovery.

Note: This may Reset the system to Factory defaults losing all added files.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

title. this is a simple problem: when i start the laptop up, if i try to run it via normal mode, it'll show a black screen after the windows logo. the computer is still running. safe mode works completely fine. uninstalling the AMD drivers (for my 5730 Raedon) and going with the generic VGA drivers works fine; this issue only appears when i try and use the AMD drivers. this issue only started today. before, the PC worked flawlessly, no hiccups. i was using it last night, completely fine, and when i started it up today, this issue appeared. i was wondering if anyone had a fix for this, or, a certain driver version that would work? i've used the AMD drivers provided on the lenovo site, those were no bueno. i tried the lastest AMD drivers and again, no good. any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Hi, \i got myself one of them lenovo ideapad y500's about a year ago, great system! but atm it is only displaying the Lenovo logo when you press the power button... no loading wheel at all... Here are some things that started to happen before this came to be1. Teledo Tunneling pseudo interface wasnt working properly2. Intel RST technology was saying my sata disk has been removed then it would try to connect it3. above problem came with windows freezing up (graphical issue prolly), I could move my mouse and hear stuff in the background, but i would think this problem is because of problem number 2 4. RECENT problem I've been having is that when i press the power button i would only get it to the blckscreen with the lenovo logo on it... and the little loading circle would pop up... now it does not... This also doesnt make the Novo OneKey recovery button not work at all and just bring me up to the lenovo logo with no loading circle.... i cannot get into the bios, with any f keys Please help

Hi please help i got my new Lenovo ideapad 110 2 weeks ago and its stuck on a black screen after showing the logo and preparing automatic repair even using the one key recovery i tried changing things in BIOS and didnt work

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 110 With AMD Radeon R5 stuck on Black screen after showing logo and preparing repair

 Hi there, Eddie                       -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Automatic Repair usually kicks in if there's a problem loading up the files that's required to start Windows. If the repair was interrupted and the screen just goes into a black screen then there's most likely a hardware component that's malfunctioning.

To check, try to:

Boot into the BIOS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button

  - Link to picture

If successful, set the following settings in the BIOS:

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled

Boot Tab:
UEFI = Disabled or Legacy
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First
Exit Tab

OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled

When done, press F10 (or Fn+10) to save and exit and try to boot from your Windows CD

If you're successful in booting from the Windows Disc, see Step 1 to Step 2 of this guideon how to proceed in fixing the issue.
If the problem remains, consider re-installing Windows by pressing the OneKey Recovery button and choose System Recovery

  - Link to picture

In an event that the recovery fails, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

Update us how it goes.

Hello this is my first post and I hope someone could lend me a hand. I have a Lenovo B series laptop, more specifically a B570. I've had it for over a year and a half now and it was working fine until I started to see some problems. My first encounter was sartup issues. The machine normally laggs whenever Windows boots up to the user screen. I checked for that and the problem was variface login and the fingerprint reader. Seems like they both caused a delay with the boot. Anyways I got pass that by not shutting down but hibernating.  A few months back I decided then to shut down my machine and that was my mistake. It started up and then lagged, I normally corrected this by jus holding the power botton and starting it up till it works. That worked for a while till that moment. I realized when I powered it down, it refused to pass the Lenovo boot screen and whenever I select F2/F8 all I get is "please wait..." and that lasts for hours. I tried replacing the harddrive, formatting it externally NOTHING. I tried troubleshooting such as RAM replacement n all but still no luck. Even removed the RAM and didnt even get a beep or nothing. Lights are on also. I even resored to CMOS battery pull and NOTHING seems to work. I also noticed that when this happens the processor fan stops spinning also. I really need to solve this issue due to me going to university and all.  Please Help! Thanks.

Answer:URGENT HELP! LENOVO B570 wont pass Lenovo Boot Logo.

hi Netflame,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

Can you try the following:
1, Remove the AC adapter and Battery then press & hold the power button for 30secs (this drains the power off the unit).
2. Reseat the CPU (see page 62 of the hardware maintenance manual)
3. After reseating CPU (if applicable, re=apply a thermal compound) and reconnect the following:

a. Fan and Heatsink Assembly
b. Systemboard Assembly
c. Memory Module
d. Keyboard Bezel

4. If applicable, use an external USB keyboard to boot into the BIOS, otherwise, reconnect also the Keyboard and try to boot into the BIOS by pressing or holding down F2. You could also try to press F12 to enter BIOS setup.

If you get into the BIOS,  press F9 to set BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit BIOS. After exiting, power off the computer and reconnect the remaining peripherals.

If the above procedure doesn't work, you probably have a bad CPU, bad GPU, or a bad motherboard and you need to call lenovo or a local repair store to have it serviced.

Caution:
The CPU is extremely sensitive. When you service the CPU, avoid any kind of rough handling.

Edit: added maintenance manual link

Hope this helps.

I've had a Lenovo y500 laptop since June 2013, and had no issues with it.  It has been a reliable laptop and I have been extremely pleased with the purchase.  However last Sunday (11/2)  I went downstairs to boot up the laptop while watching the Walking Dead and all I could get to happen was for it to show the Lenovo splash screen as the bios loads. Since then I have searched the net and have been unable to find anyone with the exact problem I had.  However a number of threads on this forum and other forums offered suggestions.  Despite all of my attempts I still cannot get it to do anything but display the black screen with the White Lenovo logo. Here are the things that I have had suggested and tried.... - Unhooked all USB devices - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Verified that USB ports are still in good working order and not grounding against shielding- Removed Second Video Card - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removing the Battery and booting with power supply only - Lenovo Splash Screen Only-  Letting battery run down completely and booting from power supply only - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Pressing the Novo Button- Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Ram and Reseated - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Harddrive and Reseated - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Ram - Reseating Single Stick of Ram Each time - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Harddrive and Placed Known Good Harddrive in place - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Ram... Hi, so I bought my Lenovo Y570 sometime in 2011 and it has been running smoothly ever since. However, over the past week I havent used it very much and when I went to use it today, I found that it wouldn't boot past the first Lenovo Logo Screen. I press the power button, it gets to the logo screen, then it 'restarts' itself and does the same thing over and over again until I turn it off by pressing the power button.  I've looked around on other forums and I saw a suggestion to take the battery out and hold the power button for 30 seconds but that didnt do anything and when I hold down the F8 key on the lenovo logo screen, the laptop just beeps a dozen times. I'm not sure if its just done for or if there's anything else I can do, but I'd appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance!

I've never had an easy use with this PC eversince I purchased it. It first rejected Windows 7 to be installed due to BIOS incompatibility which I had been warned before. I flashed the new BIOS version shared across the forum that worked for some people, it worked for me too. Then just yesterday when I turned it on, it went into Lenovo logo for few seconds then restarted. It kept repeating the boot loop before I ran the power down to shut it completely. Already ran a system diagnose but found nothing. This already occurred before when I had to perform a windows fresh reinstallation for a constant fix, it runs normally for couple of weeks till yesterday when the problem came back. Any ideas on what to do in this situation ?

Hi, my just over a year old laptop will not load. I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and ever since I did i've been having "blue screens of death" errors. There were a couple, but most of the time it was a "watchdog" error that would happen instead of the usual booting up of Windows after being off for a while it would just come up with an message saying it was recovering from an error and then eventually it would load windows and everything would be fine.  But no more. Just got back from being gone for the weekend and the computer no longer loads anything but the Lenovo splash logo. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Is my hard drive or ram fried? Any thing I can do? (I've tried pressing F2, Fn and any other key combinations I can think of. I've been looking online for answers and have yet to find someone with the same issue. Other people seem to be at least able to get into the BIOS, but I can't seem to do that, either.) Thanks in advance!

Better go back to Win 8.1 with your backup image then. The drive isn't bootable or trashed info and cannot continue further. Impossible to trouble shoot from what you've indicated anyway.

The laptop just won't go past the Lenovo logo and stays there for hours. I've tried everything such as holding F2 and messing around with everything there, holding F12 and booting from everything there, using the OneKey Recovery and tried the Sytem Recovery, which gets past the logo but ends as a black screen. It won't start up no matter what I do. I'm hoping someone with a wider knowledge than I could helpme out with this problem. Story is that it began to get very slow after a System Restore (the Disk was constantly at 100%), so I decided to restore it back to before I restored it and I waited 3 hours at the screen where it said it was storing some stuff and registering things. I looked up what to do and one solution was to shut it down and try again. I did that and now it won't start up. Please help solve this.

Answer:Lenovo g5070 blur screen only after lenovo logo

Hi Abdul,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

When using Windows 8.1 on a computer with a display featuring a high number of dots per inch (high-DPI), some desktop applications may appear somewhat blurry as compared to other applications on the screen.

In order to provide an optimal experience on high-DPI displays, desktop applications need to detect the DPI of the display which is in use, and scale their graphical elements, text, and screen layout appropriately. Some applications do not implement this; thus they may not look as sharp.

If there is not an updated DPI-aware version of the application available, you may be able to alter the appearance of the application by using one of the following methods. Note that this may result in less desirable results, depending on the application.

Disable DPI virtualization for the application. To do this, right-click the application?s shortcut and then click Properties. On the Compatibility tab, select "Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings", and then click OK. This will cause the text in the application to appear clearer, but if the application does not properly handle high DPI settings, it may have adverse side effects such as truncated text or incorrectly sized graphical elements.

Lower the overall Windows DPI setting. To do this, open the desktop Display control panel (or search for "dpi-scaling" from the Start Screen) and adjust the slider under "Change... Read more

The subject says it all. I was thinking of doing a Live Install of a Linux Distribution using a Bootable USB.So I plugged the Boot-able USB and then Power the Laptopn ON and then press F2 to enter the BIOS SETUPBut even after a few minutes the screen doesn't even budge from the Lenovo Logo... It just says "Entering Setup..." First I thought something was wrong with my Boot-able USB so I checked it by using another laptop and TADA!!!! I managed to enter the bios setup screen, change the boot order and then start the Linux Installation without any problem. And then I decided to do it again on the Lenovo G460 and then... The same Stuck at The Lenovo Logo Screen happened again. Could Anyone shed some light on this problem? Thanks XD

Hello, Not long ago I purchased a Lenovo Y500, and used for about three months without much to worry. One day my screen went completely black (like with no signal at all) first though something was broken, but for good luck trying things out connected an external display using the HDMI output and noticed my computer was completely functional, just not outputing info the her screen. Used the One Key Recovery and screen was usable again. That happened a couple more times. Last of those times, got a friend to install from scratch and using a copy of W8.1 we installed everything without a problem, but the computer keeps sending signal to external screens (with both vga and hdmi) cables but her screen is still black. Could anyone please provide some pointers as to what should I do to get the laptop screen working again, or should I take it to a workshop and get the screen replaced. Just any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and please forgive my English (not native) and the long message, --Victor

Hi! We bought yesterday a Lenovo B50-30 type notebook. I want install Windows 8.1 on it, but during the setup I was not able to create partition. So I enter to BIOS settings with Fn+F2 If I remember well. In the BIOS I check the settings, then I change SATA settings from AHCI to Compatible then I save changes and exit from BIOS setup. After that notebook froze down when the Lenovo logo screen is up. I can't enter the BIOS setup and the notebook don't boot the operating system disk, I can only see the Lenovo logo. I tried to start the notebook with the one key recovery button, but it doesn't work, the screen doesn't appear when i can choose the BIOS setup menu, only the Lenovo logo appear, then the notebook doesn't do anything.  What should i do? hey mrvoid, welcome to the forums and that's a bit strange.could you reinstall Win 7 once more and this time do not install any Lenovo drivers.let Win7 install its own generic drivers and once this is done; check and see if the bootup is still slow or did it improve.at the same time, increase your RAM memory as well.

My other half has a Lenovo H50 tower which only shows a blank black screen. It wouldn't boot past the Lenovo logo a few days ago. Tried the Windows Troubleshoot options, all without success. Tried OneKey Recovery, supposedly successful. Still wouldn't boot past the Lenovo logo. In between the troubleshoot options and OneKey, I also tried a live USB (Ubuntu), because of course there wasn't a recovery DVD and I was still hoping to retrieve some files. GNU Grub couldn't find the EFI file on the Lenovo but was fine on all other computers we tried. Blamed it on Linux and ordered Windows 7. Inserted DVD, computer wouldn't boot from DVD (selected from boot menu). Fine, changed the boot order to DVD first. Now I don't even see the Lenovo logo, it is just a black screen. I cannot get into the BIOS, which means I am not sure what my options are from here on. The H50 is only 15 months old, so if it is the hard drive, I'd be very disappointed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Idalevan, Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system hanging on Lenovo logo on your Lenovo B50-30. This kind of issue occurs when the system is not able to detect the HDD drive, If the system is under warranty please get it checked with our authorized service center. If you are willing to check with yourself then you can remove the HDD drive from the system and check if it is passing the Lenovo logo. For guidance on removing the HDD please check the user manual from the below link. http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b40_b50_ug_en.pdf Hope this helps.

I have a relatively good PC but I do not think it is a hardware problem. So when I turn on my computer the HP logo shows up in normal timing (so is this not a BIOS problem), it sits on the HP logo for about 3-5 minutes, screen goes black for about 15 minutes, HP logo comes back for about 2 minutes then I get an orange windows 10 colour theme saying "Please wait" and the lock screen comes up ready to log in, after this everything is normal, basically its very slowing getting to the lock screen.

A few specifics i've noticed, my mouse has LEDs this turns on and off about 4 times around the second HP logo appearance. The lock screen is usually synced to my laptops lock screen, and it changes reguraly however it is not anymore and does not change either, its a picture of a Medevil Iron Helmet (which is quite spooky, I havent bothered to change it or see if this is a picture from Microsoft).

Yesterday I was also about to do a safe-mode boot but the computer turned off, I did however leave my computer untouched for at least 5 minutes but it wasn't a shutting down screen it just turned off. I also doubt it is to do with cooling as I can still play games without any problems.

UPDATE: In my start-up processes there is a file name called Program, no publisher, start-up impact isn't measured but it is enabled, when I right click I can only Disable it or search online. How can I find its file location so I can remove it?

Answer:Slow boot up (High-end PC): HP logo shows, black screen, HP logo again

autoruns is a tool within systinternals. Click on Logon tab.

Autoruns for Windows

Rather than delete can I suggest a rename.

Further if you think this "malware" I would be scanning with tools and letting them address. MalwareBytes is one recommendation. You can look in the AntiVirus section for others.

I would also run a chkdsk on the drive with no repair parameters to see if it notes anything. Finally as a test I would disable Fast Startup.

Hello everyone,So I woke up this morning and my laptop wouldn't boot up anymore, it only shows underscore on top left corner. I'll try to explain as detailed as I can. Before going to sleep I was watching a movie while on battery, then after i was done with I just left it till it discharged (or went to sleep, I'm not quite sure). Next morning when I tried to switch it on it showed black screen with underscore on the top left corner. I googled it up and found some solutions as holding power button for a while or checking out bios settings. But the problem is I can't even go to bios! Tried all the combinations, which gives me no response so far. (Just to be sure Which one is it by the way?)I would like to emphasize that this underscore/cursor thing is not blinking or anything. Laptop reacts on some fn buttons (like f9 that switches off the display), Ctrl+alt+del gives completely black screen for a few seconds then goes back to underscore. There's no beeps, fan is still running, USB ports are working...This really drives me crazy. Please please any help would be appreciated!! I can't let it die just like that :/Thanks!!

Hi guys,My Laptop configuration: HW: Lenovo y560 with ATI Radeon HD 5730 (no Intel graphic card on the board)         Intel Core i7-740QM, 1.73 GHz with 2.93 GHz max turbo, 4 cores, 8 threads, 6M cache OS: Windows 7 64x with latest updates. Video driver: ATI driver version: 8.752.0.0 Issue: The screen turns completely blank every time when I turn on my laptop and the windows logo disappears. The login window doesn't appear at all and there is no response. Besides, it?s not possible to reboot a laptop by using Ctrl-Alt-Del on this stage and only power button helps. However everything works fine in safe mode. Workaround that works:Start my laptop into safe mode.Reboot a laptop into standard mode without any changes. As a result, everything works fine untill I turn off my Lenovo. What has been tried in order to solve the issue with no success:- installed the latest drivers of ATI Radeon and beta crimson drives;- changed power options to minimize performance;- edited registry's values (enableULPS, EnableBrightnessInterface2);- updated the bios to the latest version. I have been really tired up to find a solution of this awful problem for three weeks. Please help.

One day, I tried booting my G570 and then this happened : All I saw was a black screen. I heard the hardrive sounds and bootup sounds, no beeps. I tried all of the fancy stuff like that taking out the battery and ac adapter thing and plugging it into a monitor, but that's it. Now I'm wondering if it's the graphics card, and if so, is it easy to replace? And if not, what IS the issue? EDIT : Read 3rd comment, a reply :When the monitor says "Going to Sleep" maybe it means it's stuck in sleep mode, if it's THAT... How do I get it to go in full fleged on mode? PS : All of us Canadians don't say "eh" any more then you Americans!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issues with black screen in your Lenovo G570 laptop.

As you have mentioned that you have tried connecting into monitor , does the display appears on the monitor, does the issue occurs when connecting only battery.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

The problem occurs when I try to turn on the machine from a cold start up.  Restarting the machine has a normal operation time.  During the time the Laptop is trying to boot and reach the lenovo splashscreen, the power LED stays on and the keyboard backlight remains illuminated.  Toggling the Caps lock key is unresponsive in toggling the caps lock led indicator at this time.  I also tried plugging in an external monitor to see if it that was the issue.

I have tried swapping HDD with no success with another HDD from a lenovo Thinkpad, and from another Lenovo y580.  The HDD from my y580 boots on either machine with no problem.  HDD from either machine into my Y580 did not improve the boot time response.

When the y580 is trying to reach the splash screen, if I plug in the AC adapter, the machine emits one audio beep.

I have tried booting with and without AC adapter and with and without battery input.  All combinations yield long boot times.

Boot times in general can vary from 5 mins to 15 mins.  I downloaded lenovo solution center and ran the hardware scan and there was no issue with the mobo or the graphics card.

Getting to the 'Lenovo' splashscreen takes around 15 mins. Afterwards, Windows 8.1 loads with no problem and the system is very responsive.  Games and applications run smoothly.  My solution was to keep the computer in hibernation mode when not in use.  After m... Read more

To make a long story short, I've been asked to help fix a friends mom's U410 laptop which wasnt activiting Windows 8.1 properly (Was Windows 8 OOB). After struggling with the activation for a few hours, I backed up the data and decided to just run the Lenovo one key recovery. During the recovery process, the installation had failed. When I attemped to reboot, no Lenovo splash screen was loading - just a black screen (although i can hear the cooling fan start, and hear the harddrive spin up. I tried to access the boot menu thru the novo button, and nothing would load; still a black screen. After researching for a few more hours, I had found multiple threads about bios updates required to be able to access bios with windows 8, and other threads about gpus on these units booting to a second screen (which i did test, and the second monitor does indicate a signal). None of the solutions on those threads have given positive results.   Basically, I've run out of options and am looking for some suggestions. The only thing that shows up on the display at anytime is the small blue novo menu when the button is pressed (normal start up, bios setup, boot menu, system recovery - all of which just leave a black screen). Thanks.

Please help. My Ideapad has basically stopped working.  My operating system is Windows 7 Home Edition.  A few days ago, my computer froze up and I got the blue Windows screen that says: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.  A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated..."  The blue screen went on to say that I should restart Windows with safe-mode and remove any recently added programs.  I did this and I believe I successfully removed Java, which is the only new software I updated recently (although I wish I had not).  I was also able to restore my computer to about a week before the crash. However, only rarely am I able to get windows to start again at all, whether in safe mode or not.  I'd say 4 out of 5 times, I am seeing the Lenovo boot-up screen for about 3 minutes, and then I get a black screen that says the following: Intel UNDI.  PXE-2.1 (build 082)Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation This Product is covered by one or more of the following patents:US5,307,459, US5,434,872, US5,732, US6,570,884, US6,115,776 andUS6,327,625 Realtek PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Series v2.26 (090219)PXE-E61:  Media test failure, check cablePXE-M0F:  Exiting PXE ROMOperating system not found That message repeats itself if I press any key, and if I press the power button the... I've had my Y510P for about a year now, and everything was running smooth until recintly.  When ever I power on the computer after shutting it down and leaving it for the night, it wont display anything.  I shut it down by using the settings in the lower right corner of the screen.  The keyboard turns on and the red light shines.  On some days the computer works fine.  I've tryed the BIOS boot up on the side, and even that wont turn on.

I too have experienced these kind of problems. I tried Restarting itAnd it used to turn on fine but it usually used to take a lot of time loading. Try Removing the Battery and Power Cord and again reinserting them and then restart.

I recently got a Lenovo Y50 a couple months ago. I've been taking very good care of it, checking for viruses nearly every day and cleaning out everything daily as well, because I need this one to last because it will be my PC for college. But yesterday I booted her up and it showed the lenovo logo, then nothing. Black screen. No cursor or anything on the screen. Keyboard LEDs are on and caps lock and things can turn on and off. I've tried to restart multiple times, restored the system to 4 days ago, taking it off the charger and putting it on, I just don't know what's wrong. I don't know if safe mode will help but I have no idea how to get there on windows 8 anyways. Please and thank you )-:

So I have a Lenovo Y580 Ideapad I bought circa 2013/14. I've kept it pretty updated and all since then. It had Windows 8 last time I was able to use it (a few months now sadly). Before this incident, it had already happened before but it would come back on after a few tries. One time it took a whole week of trying to turn it on and off and finally it just popped up again. But this previous time I accidently let it die (I always had it charging once this issue began because I was afraid it would die and do this) and it hasn't been able to boot. I've researched this issue and I've not been able to find one specific answer. So I decided to come here and have some seasoned techs look at my issue personally. I uploaded some videos on youtube in order for you all to get a look at it and what it does when I poke around at it. Also, Idk if it would be of any relevance, but before it died it had had a long standing issue of the touchpad not working. Occasionally it would twitch or work for a few minutes but it was mostly dead (the touchpad I mean). I was never able to fix it (also I just got lazy and bought a mouse). Here is video #1 so you get a basic idea of **bleep** it's doing: https://youtu.be/FwVumwp7MFAHere is video #2 of me poking around on it and doing the restart power thing (thass tha technical name right?) so you can see what it does and doesn't do:https://youtu.be/FwVumwp7MFAIf there is any more info I can give please let me know. My newly purchased y500 laptop has developed hanging problem and mother board replacement was advised by lenovo service engineer. 20 days have passed but mother board has not yet arrived in India leave alone the repairs and testing. How many days it will take?

Answer:how much time Lenovo takes for replacement of mother board under warranty (Y500)

hi ukjain,

Welcome to the Forums.

Usually. if the the spare part(s) are not available for the repair, there should be an ETA/ETS on the spare parts before the service team starts the computer repair. I recommend you ask for the ETA/ETS as this is normally the basis before the service center schedules the computer for repair and also to give you an idea how long will it take before you get the computer back from the service center.

Hello, I have a problem with my lenovo y500, right now my laptop won't boot to Windows 8, it stays in the lenovo black screen and shows "preparing automatic repair" loading for many minutes. Also when it boots, goes to a blue screen where I can choose options like recovery and stuff, the thing is that when I click it, it says that the hard drive is locked and I don't know what to do.

Update:

I don't even get to be in windows, it doesn't boot at all.

I made a restore with one key recovery and still won't boot. I really don't know what else to do, since this M$ system of not providing a win 8 key with the laptop that the user can see won't let me download a new win 8 iso from the official website.

I?ve downloaded an enterprise version wich doesn't work either, so now Im downloading a pirate version to see how it goes.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hello, I have had my ideapad y500 for a few years now. One day my computer froze completely under normal operation. I had to hold the power button to do a manual shutdown. After that, my computer would not turn back on. When I try to boot it, I see a black screen, not even the Lenovo Logo. After about thirty seconds there is a single beeb from the computer. About thirty seconds later, the fan spins up as if under load, then a little while later the fan will quiet down and the computer will beep again. At this point, I can adjust the brightness of the keyboard backlight, turn the backlight for the screen on and off, and the caps lock and num lock LEDs on the front work, but I cannot do anything else. I have tried plugging in an external monitor to see if it is just a screen issue, but it does not output any signal to the monitor. Also important, the same thing happens when I try to boot into the BIOS using the Novo button, or F2.  I have discovered that by leaving the computer unplugged with the battery out for a long time, I can sometimes get it to get to the lenovo logo and start booting windows. However, it gets as far as the windows 10 logo, then goes black and eventually beeps, as above. It will not fully boot into the operating system. The time it takes between working is anywhere from 5 minutes unplugged to a couple of hours.  I tried reflashing the stock bios (using a DOS bootable USB drive) and was eventually successful in reflashing the ... Seems like a hard drive issue to me. If you are willing to, you could replace the hard drive temporaraly and see if it boots. A PC repair shop could replace the hard drive too. If it is the hard drive you have pretty much no choice but to replace it.  -Matthew

I have run into the exact same thing. This must be caused by a windows 8 patch b/c the hard drive is 100%. Roll back your laptop from the repair menu (if even possible) to a prior restore point. If you get a successful rollback please let me know. Thanks!

I've had my laptop for 1-2 years and have so far been somewhat satisfied with it, until I ran into this problem.Whenever I start up my laptop, the lenovo screen will appear- sometimes it says 'Preparing automatic repair' underneath. About a minute later, this screen will disappear and the screen will turn completely black. After about 4-5 minutes, the lenovo screen will appear again, and then I get the Win 8 error message 'Your PC ran into an error and has to restart'. And then will restart, and repeat the cycle. Also, this is not relevant to the main issue- but the cable controlling backlighting has been damaged, and so I need to shine a light onto my screen to see what's on the monitor and an external monitor will not work until I install drivers- and so it is difficult to actually see the display until I repair said cable. When I connect a HDMI, it will just display the black screen- and so I know that there is nothing on the display at this point.I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or not- as I took my computer apart to fix one of the hinges a couple of weeks ago. I've also tried the onekey recovery button. No luck either unfortunately. Thanks in advanceLewis

Answer:Lenovo G580 booting problem - Boot then black screen, then restart

Hi Lewis,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that your G580 Laptop is displaying black screen in the Inbuilt/External Display. Hence, I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue.
Now access the BIOS menu press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Hello, I have used my laptop for almost an year now and for the past 5-6 months, I have been ignoring this problem and now I finally decided to fix it. I remember when I first got the laptop, it would boot in like 30 seconds, assuming it was booting from my 16GB SSD. But over time it has been taking ~5 minutes to boot up. I don't know if my SSD is corrupted or faulty over time. I tried SSD diagnostic programs and it says it is fine. Whenever I boot up my laptop, it would be stuck on the Lenovo logo screen with a loading circle going around for 5 minutes. After that, it feels completely fine and takes a minute or so to load to my desktop. Should I replace my current 16 GB SSD with another SSD? If so, any reccomendations? Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo Y500 takes 5 minutes to boot?

can anyone help?

Answer:My lenovo g510 shows black screen every time I power it on but the power lights are on .

Hi Anish1,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with black screen in your Lenovo G510 laptop.

As you have mentioned that black screen when turned on, can you hear the windows login sound?
Remove the battery and connect only adapter and check for the issue also connect only battery and check for the issue.

Connect an external monitor and check if the display appears in the external monitor then its a issue with the LCD, if there is no display in the external monitor then it might be issue with the motherboard, hence suggest you to visit the nearest authorised service centre.

Click here for the service centre and select your region.

Best regards,

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - Crashed and now won't boot past opening lenovo screen

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

Hi folks

Recently my pc starded giving me a Black screen with interactive mouse pointer after the windows logo. I think the official term for this is KSOD ( blacK screen of Death ).

this black screen stays on for at least 3-4 minutes before i get to the welcome screen.

Not sure why this is happening. I haven't updated anything or changed anything or added anything.

I was going through my NTBTLOG.TXT and found out that my pc keeps trying to load some drivers and fails.

here are the names of a few of them :-

@nettun.inf , @netrasa.inf, @nettun.inf, @cpu.inf, @oem46.inf

I think this continuous attempt to load those drivers is causing the delay. I am attaching my ntbtlog.txt file to this post.

Also i got this BSOD last time logged into my pc :

Hello kind people of the lenovo forums,  Let me share my struggle first so you may appreciate my desperation for an answer a little more. Hopefully someone has an answer to my problem and is kind enough to spread some knowledge. So the problem started when one day I tried turning on my laptop from a hibernation and the computer got stuck on the lenovo splash screen with the loading wheel spinning around. I thought it was weird but thought nothing of it at first and tried restarting, no luck tried multiple more times, even taking out the battery so on and so forth.. nothing. So after many failed attempts at troubleshooting I managed to get into the bios and checked all the settings, made sure i was booting from the right drive and restarted the computer. Well now my problems got worse, now I was stuck on the lenovo splash screen without any spinning wheel or glimpse off hope like it was loading or something. Just the lenovo logo blaring at me in its white on black glory. I could not access the bios or any menus.. hours.. no days of troubleshooting with no luck... So now I'm thinking i have to clear the cmos because this has got to be a bios issue seeing as i can't boot anything or even access the boot menu. Do some googleing, NOOO.. the cmos battery is not easily accessible and on top of that it's soldered to the board. My warranty is already over, and paying some dude to tear apart my laptop is out of the question. So now I'm comin... Read more

I have a lenovo ideapad y500 with a 1366x768 screen, and I am looking to pop open the screen, and replace the panel with a 1920x1080 screen. Assuming that I purchase another 15.6 inch screen (size of the original screen), is this possible? A model of the y500 is sold with a 1080p display, and the graphics card in my model is more than capable of outputting such a resolution. I was just wondering if there is a chance that the connections between my laptop and new screen would not match as I do not know if there is some sort of standard port with screens. Thanks!

Answer:Screen upgrade lenovo ideapad y500

You would need to find out the exact model of the 1080p screen was that was sold with that model and order the same one or compatible replacement model. Laptop screens are not universally interchangeable and you can't just buy any screen and connect it.

Hi friends, I'm hoping for some input on what's going on with my laptop. I have a Lenovo Y500 that's about 3 years old now, and about 1 month ago the screen began flickering (no lines-the entire screen flickers on and off) when the lid was moved. At first it only did this when the lid was almost closed, but now it has gotten worse to the point that it flickers when I put the screen at a 90 degree angle. At this point I suspect it's the LCD flex cable, but I'm hoping for some input as to what I can do about it to fix it/confirm my suspicions. I'm fairly tech savvy so I'd be okay with diagnosing and replacing parts myself so long as I have instructions on how to do so.  Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Answer:Lenovo Y500 Screen flickers when lid is moved

Hi Egiller,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with the screen flickering in your Lenovo Y500 laptop.

If the display flickers only when the lid is moved then it might be issue with the LCD cable, hence suggest you to visit the nearest service centre for further details.

I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

Yesterday my Lenovo Y50/70 stopped booting up.  I am running windows 10 and when I power it on the fan comes on and i get the Lenovo screen and the spinning dots for a few seconds, then it blinks goes blank.  The screen is lit but nothing is displayed.  I can interrupt the boot by hitting F2 and see the bios stuff but nothing so far has helped. What is going on?

Answer:Lenovo Y50 Y70 Wont boot past Lenovo power up screen

If you switch off the laptop, and then switch it ON by pressing the ONE KEY RECOVERY button, what do you see?
Does it go into the recovery menu?
