Anybody who knows how to upgrade battery firmware of Lenovo Ideapad Z400?

Question: Anybody who knows how to upgrade battery firmware of Lenovo Ideapad Z400?

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z400 that was bought in 1st-2nd week of May, 2013. I have a problem that started on May 21, 2013, my laptop battery suddenly drops from 25% to 6%. I've read some posts that it requires firmware update to work normally.. This is the site

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035310

Is there any steps needed while performing this Upgrade? Is it safe? Will it fix my problem? By the way, I'm here in Philippines and the Ideapad Z400 was bought by my uncle somewhere in Saudi Arabia, and he delivered it to me when he got back here. I started using the laptop on May 8, 2013. Thanks..

Preferred Solution: Anybody who knows how to upgrade battery firmware of Lenovo Ideapad Z400?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, i have Lenovo Ideapad Z400 Touch (i7), and  upgraded my RAM with :- Corsair SO-DIMM DDR3 8GB PC12800 - CMSO8GX3M1A1600C11 (1X8GB) but after i upgrade the RAM, my laptop often has random restart. I Suspect that the Corsair RAM is the cause of the random restart. I tried to update my battery firmware after getting a message from the thinkpad tools today. the firmware installed halfway then completed with an error, it then asked me to click "ok" to shut down the laptop. now my battery gauge is showing 0%, the battery charging logo in the task bar has an "x" on it. The battery is not charging as well. i have to plug in the AC adapter to use the laptop. I tried to reinstall the firmware, however it says there is no connected batteries that need upgrading. In the battery management tool, it also shows battery condition as "unknown"  help!!!

Answer:Lenovo E420s battery indicator at 0% and not charging after firmware upgrade

I think the firmware flash went bad. You'll probably have to use your warranty.

hi, I have an Ideapad Z400 touch with Windows8 and every time the battery runs low it shuts down without any warning, even when configured to warn me.Usually it turns off when the battery is around 20% and when it connect the outlet and turn the battery begins at 10% again.

Answer:IdeaPad Z400 touch battery

You might need to recalibrate your battery. Open Energy Management to recalibrate. Or update the bios if not updated yet to the latest version.

Hi All, I have a concern regarding my Z400 idepad laptop. I bought it last February 16, 2014 and just today I noticed thst even after my laptops battery is charged, when I hover over my mouse to it, it would say 7 hours then after a couple of minutes, if I hover my mouse over to the battery icon again, it will already say 4 hours, then again after a few minutes if I would be checking on it would say 2 hours then again, after a few minutes it will now say 3 hours. It seems that it's not displaying the correct battery time. What can be causing this or what can I do to have the battery icon display the right number of hours that my laptop can be used? I know that brightness affects the battery usage coz my brightness is set to full though it's strange to have the battery icon display incorrect number of hours every after 5 minutes if i will check it. please leneove community, i would need all the help I can get and would appreciate your response to this. thank you! Oreo

Hi, I have a problem here.. My Lenovo ideapad z400 was bought in may 8, 2013, just this year. Now, my problem is that the battery suddenly drops from 25% to 6% and gives me a warning that "the battery is in critical condition, plug the charger" (somewhat like that). My OS is windows 8 64-bit. I've read some posts about resetting the battery meter and battery firmware upgrade, but is it safe? By the way, the problem started on may 21, 2013 Tuesday. My laptop is just new. Please help me, I need to fix this before my classes start on july 15. PLEASE i'm begging anyone who knows to fix this... Thank you..

Not safe to use the battery reset. Here is the link that discusses the effect/resulting problem when you use the battery reset. There is also a link to a patch for Z400/Z500 that solves another battery problem for models built before May 6 2013.

Hi CuriousFox ,

Greetings.

To isolate fastest is to have another battery to use or charging the original battery on a known working compatible laptop.
The power checkout guide of the hardware machine manual provides steps to check battery charging integrity (example form Z510 manual page 21) .

You can also try plugging the laptop but not turning it on for 1-2 hours checking if there would be changes with the battery indicator LED.

Would it be the same using similar energy manager and operating system that came originally with the machine?
How is the battery health and battery report?

Update us how it goes.

Regards

I have two Lenovo Y40-70 computers that I purchased within a couple weeks of each other.  They came with Windows 8.1 but I upgraded to Windows 10. A few months ago, I noticed that my computer battery meter was reading 100% for an hour.  I continued to work unplugged until the battery died while still reading 100%.  I recharged and the battery again read 100% for more than a couple hours, then died.  So the battery lifetime is as good as always, but the reading is not right.  When I reboot, it still reads 100%. Strangely, the second system, whcih I had not used for a while, was OK, but a few days later, it started doing the same thing (though it was reading 87%, the charge when the computer last worked right.  I suscpect that this happened after a critical update, which the second system went through later. Recently, I downloaded from the Lenovo website the newer power management software on both computers, and it did not help. Then I noticed the Battery recall so downloaded the "Lenovo Battery Utility 2015" to see if my system was afffected by the problem.  When I run the utility, I get the mssage "No Battery Detect."  So it would appear that there may be an issue with the software detecting the batter. Since I can't know the state of the battery (it appears to not want to recharge until it's empty, I gues because it thinks it's 100% charged), I cannot count on this computer when it's not plugged in. Now I ... This is in response to the problem everyone is having with the battery not charging when plugged in. I found this in the guide for my idea pad Z400. It should help many of you to finally make peace with your battery Battery (B):      Battery Mode (B-1):  By using the battery maintenance function, it is possible to extend the battery lifespan. Before you use this function, read the precaution. Energy Management 8.0 can automatically track your habit of battery use, and then provide suggestions on selecting a battery maintenance mode for extending the battery lifespan. Two battery modes are provided: Maximum Battery Life and Optimized Battery Health.       Maximum Battery Life: In this mode, the battery has the most powerful charging capacity. Note that this mode cannot optimize the battery circle lifespan.       Optimized Battery Health: In this mode, the battery limits charging to 60% of its full capacity. This can reduce the battery degradation and extend the battery lifespan.

Helo!I've bought the Lenovo Z400 (not touchscreen). I decided to upgrade my memory to 16GB and than I bought the memory described bellow from Amazon:Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10)But after install it correctly, when I turn on my laptop the screen do not turn on. The LCD remain off. Everything appears to work fine, only the monitor that do not turn on. After downgrade the memory RAM  (to the 8GB that cames with the laptop) the computer works fine.Does this version of memory RAM I bought is not compatible with my model? I've double checked in the manual and I'm sure it is. So anyone has idea of what is going on with my memory upgrade? Thank you.

Answer:Ideapad Z400 RAM Upgrade - LCD not turning on!

This happened to me, try with just one module and make sure it is securely seated then try turning it on. If it works go into the bios and see if it recognises it the module. Save and exit and add the second module.  Screen wont work if the memory isn't in properly.

Hi, I suddenly encountered a battery problem in my laptop, IdeaPad Y510P. It seems like other folks have the same problem in Ideapad series.   When I plug in a charger, the laptop shows that battery is charing but, it never goes above 7% (w/ max battery life mode). According to Energy Management, battery status is fine.  After searching similar issues, I think it may be a problem with firmware, but I was not able to find a firmware update for IdeaPad series, Windows 8.1.... I have been using my laptop over a year, but never had this problem before. Can you please guide me through how to fix this issue?  Thanks for your help..!

After that reboot and install it back and see if there is a difference specially on the battery status. Also basing on your statement that the unit is with you for more than a year and you have not encountered any problem except recently it would seem that a battery replacement might be in order. Again before jumping into conclusion check the ac adapter and battery based on the procedure given in your hardware maintenance manual.

Hello. First of all, thank you for taking the time to view my post and potentially help me out. So the problem is that my laptop will not start. I was using my laptop here one day and it was working fine, but it was unable to charge for some reason and ended up shutting down so I went to bed. The next morning I tried turning it on, but it was dead. I have tried a different charger as my sister also has a lenovo laptop, but this did not work either. I would think if the battery was the problem, the laptop should still be working with the charger in? I have tried calling support line several times with no answer, the warranty has gone out and I forgot where i bought the laptop sadly. Really frustrated over here, and any help is highly appreciated!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

There is no master password, back door or CMOS clearing procedure that will remove your forgotten password.  This is due to the ease in which laptops are stolen.   To resolve the issue you have basically two options.  The first is for the Uncle to try and remember the password he used.  Please keep in mind that passwords are case sensitive and he may have use upper and lower case characters.  The second option is to replace the motherboard.

Answer:Ideapad Z-500 - Battery firmware updated but still battery not charging

hi Aledef,

If you have the Lenovo Energy Management installed, can you check the following:

1. For Windows 7:
Ensure that Maximum Battery Life is selected

For Windows 8:
Ensure that Conservation Mode is disabled.

2. Uninstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method under the Device Manager > Battery
   - Link to picture

When finished, reboot the machine and observe if the battery is now charing above 59%. If the problem remains, try charging the battery while the computer (about 30mins) and see if it goes pass the 59% mark.

If the problem persists, I recommend you contact lenovo on how to go about getting a replacement battery.

When I open I see only Black screen, Lenovo Logo doesn't show, no Back lights, Power LED is on, USB working , DVD is responding, Hard disk seems to be spinning. I can only power it on after N attempts of pressing the power button on/off. There are also times that the Lenovo Logo is showing but after 2 secs the power goes off. No beeping sound. I did a chkdsk and memtest and everything seems fine.

I'm having Lenovo z400 (core i7 , 8 GB ram , NVidia 635m )these days I am using it just only for games , so I am wondering if there some way to Preserve battery life by making the laptop working by electricity directly without charging the battery because as I mentioned before i'm using it only these days for games also i'm directly connected it ac charger.I'm sorry about my English if there is any mistakes

Answer:need advices for lenovo z400 battery

HiWelcome to the forum! In general, to get the full potential of your graphics card, you should use charger while playing games. But, that will charge the battery too alongside and regularly charging the battery can result in reduced battery life span and hence, you should remove your battery while on adapter. Only thing is, that if the electricity goes out, the laptop too will switch off.You can also have look at this link for more tipshttp://www.friedbeef.com/top-15-ways-to-extend-your-laptop-battery-life/Hope this helpsRegards

Hello, Recently, my ideapad z400 shows weird behaviors between the touchpad and the screen. Sometimes (not always), any motions that involve two fingers , like touching two points on the touchpad, or press the right mouse while hovering other finger on the touch area, the screen will goes off for around 1-2 second. I am not sure if my installing of Sticky Notes software causing such problems, since when I move the mouse like this, I see its figure is transformed in to a tiny scrollbar(!!!) Right now, the problem is not persistent, and my solution is to restart the laptop, or system restore. Do you have any ideas of fixing it? Thanks.

Answer:lenovo ideapad z400 screen turns off temporarily by touching the touchpad with 2 fingers

HELLO MATES.I Just bought a new Lenovo ideapad z400.it has 8gb RAM1 TB HDDGraphic processor - Intel HD graphic 4000 So, recently I tried to install a graphic game on it, actually, its PES 2014.After I successfully installed it on my pc, then I tried to run it.What I got was, dvdir is missing and it couldn't open.I taught it was the directx9c problem, I reinstall it and still got the same error. Now, a friend of mine told me that the system came with an Intel Graphic HD and it cant play any graphic game such as PES 2014 and so on.  I now tried to install NVidia Graphic driver on the system, and what i got during the installation was, it cannot continue. The NVidia keep saying installation cannot continue. sadly, I cant play any graphic games on my Lenovo ideapad Z400 touch notebook and am I gamer Please mates, any valuable solution would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Answer:HELP!!! Lenovo ideapad z400 touch notebook 8GB, 1TB HDD cannot play Graphics Game like Pes 2014.

Hi Quadrescent, welcome to the forum.

Please see this ipbook, where it has all the models listed:

http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/ipbook.pdf

Unfortunately, I see that the Z400 Touch does not have the Nvidia graphics installed, so you can't game using that GPU.

The only option available to you, if you really need a stronger GPU for your games, is to return your Z400 Touch, and buy some model that has the Nvidia graphics installed. See the ipbook for which models can do the Nvidia graphics.

Cheers

hello, I'm new in this forum, and made this account solely for this purpose lets get to the pointmy lenovo z400 suddenly wont charge on my system (windows 8.1 pro x64) when i highlight the battery it said "plugged in and not charging" have tried many things (eg. clean uninstall LEM (using revo uninstaller) and re-install it, trying to upgrade the battery firmware but can't (since the ones in lenovo site only supports wn 8)) I can just re-install the whole system but that really is not preferable for me nor put it on service center since I need it for school. so, can anyone give me some fix?

I?m sorry to hear that the Battery is not charging and displaying ?Plugged-in not charging? error message and the issue persists even after performing the troubleshooting steps. Please install the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) in the computer and then change the Mode to ?Maximum Battery Life? and if the issue persists the only available option is to contact our Technical Support for further Assistance regarding the concern and to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

Good day,I just recently bought my new Lenovo Z400 yesterday and took it for a test run. After testing for a while i noticed that the battery meter was still at 24% (even if it says " plugged in, charging").If i disconnected the laptop from a power outlet, the laptop won't turn on or if its plugged in and i took it out, the laptop shuts down.It came with a pre installed Windows 8 and Lenovo Energy Management 8.0I would appreciate the help since i really need my laptop for school.

Answer:Newly Purchased Lenovo Z400 battery not charging

hi i have the same problem too, recently i went in a lenovo branch to have my laptop checked and they told me to charge it for 6 hours and they said that if it still wont work then i have to replace my battery. So i tried to charge it, still nothing happens guess this is a bad luck for me and when i asked how much the battery would cost they told me estimated 4thousand philippines peso and darn it, its very expensive and i still have to wait for 90 days until the shippment comes, but i am still hoping there is still another option for this, i am going to use it for school too. try to charge it for 6 hours while the lid is close hope this works for you.

Hi there everyone! I know that many of us here using the new z and p series ideapad have encountered this issue and some are still wrecking their brains, calling customer hotlines, searching the internet and trying all sorts of ways. I specially made an account to share my experience and solution with you all through an in depth explanation. Sorry for some broken english cos im singaporean and it has become a habit PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL OF IT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. and don't kpkb if it doesnt work because you didn't read it through. What i did when i realised i had this problem: 1. Check if the battery had a problem, but now the batteries are sealed inside the computer. Scratch that if u are too.2. Check the Power Brick, plug out and plug the adapter back in, change the wall socket you are plugged into.3. Restart the computer. I believe this is what the majority of you have done. Then u call customer hot line, send to service center, still cannot find out the problem or they claim battery spoil, then you have to wait for too **bleep** long b4 it gets repaired. NO YOU DON'T HAVE TO! Take these few steps to save yourself the time, money and whatever. Firstly go to this website: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Ideapad-Z400-or-Z500-battery-will-not-cha... I shall elaborate on the steps since they do not. Answer:Lenovo Z400 Battery Plugged in Not Charging Problem

Hi people! update for the above message: Lenovo Energy Management is still the main culprit for the error, so pls do check that under the battery menu in LEM, IT IS SET TO 'MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE' to enable charging to 100%, not Optimised battery health as this will allow your battery to have a longer lifespan( how many years it can last, i do not mean one charge.)

So I just got this laptop yesterday.  I updated to Windows 8.1 and now whenever my battery reaches 30% anf sometimes at 20%, the battery just suddenly drops to 7 or 6% in a matter of minutes. Any fixes for this, mates? I've seen a similar thread here but the problem wasn't actually solved. I uinstalled the lenovo energy management btw, thinking that, that maybe the cause of the sudden drop and or misreading of the battery percetange. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi 2ionel,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

The Fn (Function Keys) will only work if the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) is installed in your Z400 Touch Laptop. Hence, I would suggest you to install the exact LEM from the below link:

Hi, I suddenly encountered a battery problem in my laptop, IdeaPad Y510P.

Thanks! As for the graphics you can't change it unlike in a desktop pc. However, for the ram you can upgrade it to 16 Gb depending on what processor you have. Although you might have a processor that can handle 32 Gb you can only install 16 Gb since the modules available in the market are 8 Gb only.

Dear Lenovo, After perusing the recent 2016/2017 comments by multiple users on similar posts about Ideapad Z510 battery from across locations/countries - it appears that the firmware that you had issued last year - has somehow got overwritten / superceded maybe in either late 2016  or early 2017 by some more recent/latest updates. I am writing from India and facing the same probem that the battery is showing 100% and then going off almost immediately. This probem had fortunately got solved last year when you had issued a firmware update - but now when i am trying to use the same files again - it basically conveys that "no battery available to update" because that particular firmware is already applied on our laptop. Hence, can you please release newer firmware update for this same issue -  using a z510 system having current till-date updates for different OS - win 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 - same way as you have released for thinkpad series of laptops too on the weblink - http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/downloads/ds001322 Come to think of it - that if a fully working battery is being "prompted" as weak and "need to buy" - but actually is a fully functioning hardware - isnt it a bit of a letdown for your users??? - what to say of  some who might have already bought and replaced with newer replacement batteries - which is actually a completely avoidable cost? I am sure you need to resolve this issue soon so as to restore c... Read more

Subject says it all, at seemingly random times my S10 now turns off, the wireless light stays on, but no screen, power/charge light, etc.  This happens with and without the power adapter plugged in, and has happened 4 times since updating 3 days ago.  It hasn't happened when I'm using it, twice when it was idle (It makes a great alarm clock at 3am) and twice when waking it from sleep. In order to turn it back on I need to hold down the power button to hard reset, unplugging power adapter doesnt help, battery has a full charge. Anyone else having this issue?  It's stock except upgraded memory (1gb DDR2 667), which I swapped out to make sure it wasnt causing the issue.  This never happened with the old firmware.  I don't see anyway to downgrade it to the old firmware either.. Original S10 ordered in august, shipped in early Oct (Mft Date 9/25/08), 512mb/80gb 10.2" running the included XP home. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/drivers/2412/5696.html   was firmware update.  Applied because the boot-on-one key recovery button was annoying.  Update applied fine, rebooted, everything else seems fine.Message Edited by jonthompson on 11-29-2008 02:25 PMMessage Edited by jonthompson on 11-29-2008 02:27 PM

Hi, Yesterday, using Lenovo Solution Center 2.4.003, I upgraded the firmware (since it was marked critical) of my USB-3 dock in my office. Now I cannot connect anymore with the network. Now and then I see few blinks and monitoring with wireshark shows that the dock transmit data, but does not receive anything. The adapter is configured with fixed IP addres, so we do not use DHCP. I see ARP(Who has ...?) request going out, and nothing returns. What is going here? BTW, when using a USB-Ethernet adapter on the same cable everything works. So it is NOT a cabling/network problem. Also, before upgarding everything was working. Do you have a suggestion? For instance how to revert back to the old firmware?BTW, how do I see what version firmware is in the docking station? Thanks,Jos

Hello wonderful Lenovo user's and guru's! I have recieved a Lenovo Ideapad y550 from a pawn shop. I grabbed it because I knew this was a pretty good computer. I thought I could fix any problems it has and it would be just fine. =] So this laptop shuts down instantly if I unplug the power cord. Just dies, no time to do any saving or lights to blink. Just instant shutdown. Also when I try to power it on when its unplugged from the AC, it does nothing. Also shuts off in the middle of playing guild wars 2. No other games shut off on me. When I realized I had this problem, I ordered a new battery for my model of laptop. The new battery is doing the exact same thing as the other battery that was in it. It seems the computer has a fresh install of windows except with a .old folder in the C drive. So I am guessing someone did some sort of reformat or recover? the recovery was done through the Pawn Shop. It seems that it has windows 7 64 bit.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ever since a recent trip I took my Lenovo will not charge. When I tried charging my laptop on the trip I thought it didn't work because the plug outlet was out of position and messed up in the hotel I was staying. But then, when I returned home and tried to charge my laptop it still would not charge. When I plug it in and everything the red light blinks and blinks but no matter how long I leave it there it will not charge. When I  try to turn the laptop on (with the charger) it makes the beeping sound it usually made before when I plug the charger in except it keeps on beeping as if I pulling the charger out and putting it back in every half-a-second. And then, the laptop only starts up for  a few secons before it shuts off again. When I turn the laptop on (without the charger)...well, it just doesn't turn on. I just want to know if the problem is with my charger or the actual battery or something else? Any suggestions?

PLEASE I NEED AN ANSWER IF I SHOULD RETURN IT OR NOT!!! So when I play League of Legends, I get frame rate drops when my laptop is on battery, even if I put low settings in game. But if it is plugged in, I can play max settings without a problem. Please help me, I want to play League of Legends away from a power outlet. The reason I wanted a laptop is portability!!!

Your laptop needs more power than the battery can supply.

Hi I recently bought Lenovo Ideapad 110 laptop and I got very disappointed by the battery life, it doesn't even last an hour (i use it no more than 2 weeks)Now, this doesn't seem right to me, but I don't know what the problem could be. I am using my laptop for long hours since I need it for my work and I'm constantly charging and discharging it because it has a non-removable battery and I don't want to keep it plugged in all the time.Any input about where to go from here would be most welcome. Thank you in advance

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 110 battery life

Hi igeto,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As seen from common reviews, battery for the model is not one of the strong points, although should be able to do up to 3 Hours Video Playback. On low setting gameplay, the benchmark was able to perform 1-hour gameplay.

Check if you got the updated BIOS from the support site with updated power management and Lenovo utility.
Perform manual battery gauge calibration by using the machine until 10-20% charge then have it fully charged and restart. Change brightness to maybe 80% (this would help the battery usage) and see how long you would be able to use it for your normal use.

If you have the same problem, call in technical support for their recommendation.

Update us how things go.

Regards

Hi, I'm new to the community and I don't know where to put this thread. Please move it to the approriate board if I'm mistaken. So I bought this laptop, Ideapad 110 15-AST yesterday and started to tinker with it a bit (by that I mean customize it to suit my preferences and replace all stock softwares and features with mine) and I noticed something: its battery life. It's shorter than I thought. I thought it would be able to last at least 4~5 hours, but I can only get it to last for about 2~3 hours, that is with display brightness set to lowest and volumes muted, and only Wi-Fi is open (using chrome for browsing). Is this normal, or did I get a unit with defective battery? And how do I know if the laptop is already 100% charged when turned off? I don't want turning it on just to see the percentage if I won't really be using it. Cheers

I had no luck finding the part in the Lenovo online store, but I did find some details to get you your battery! http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73278.html Their internal part # is 57Y6265. If you call in to your local sales center in Singapore, 1-800-586-7710 I believe, they should be able to get you a price. Lenovo is the only place you can truthfully guarantee: 1) It's authentic.2) You'll actually receive the product. Good luck!

Hey guys,

I still have my Lenovo Ideapad 300 laptop 22 days internation warranty remaining. Battery is dead after every 1 hour or 1 hour 20 mins instead of giving 3 hours as before. What should be the issue ? I tried to install Energy Manager to calibrate the battery but its not installing.

Any idea how to fix it ?

Regards.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 300 Battery Issue

Go to Settings> select System> select Battery> and make your adjustments there:
You can also look at drainage usage by app on the same screen or disable all apps from running in the background: https://www.howtogeek.com/241752/how...he-background/

Or, switch your power plan to "power saver" and it will optimize your battery performance automatically:
Hope this helps,

Good luck,

The battery for my Lenovo ideapad 300 ? 15ISK has shown gradual degeneration and after less than a year it failed completely (battery report at the bottom). I?m deeply disappointed in Lenovo?s response to this. Initially they asked for having it in for repair, which in my case and I assume many others, is completely unacceptable. Being without a PC is extremely difficult and sending it away for a trivial issue like a battery replacement is unacceptable. But that was only the start of it, I checked Lenovo website and could not locate a replacement battery. Hence, I contacted Lenovo by phone but surprisingly I was told that the battery could not be sourced by Lenovo and I was recommended PC world or Amazon, neither have the correct battery in stock as it turned out.A lot of battery suppliers are listed on Google but most of them has very limited description and it seems very easy to end up with the wrong battery. I contacted Lenovo through Twitter asking for some assistance, but after several tweets explaining the issue, Lenovo vent quiet(!). A couple of weeks later I tried again, but with the same abysmal result. So, at the end, I gave up and ordered what hopefully is the right battery. Sadly, after Twitting Lenovo that I gave them up, they came back with the requested information?Lenovo is extremely good at promoting themselves, but be aware the equipment might not be up to scratch and their customer support is certainly not, not on their website, not on the phone, no... My battery seems to charge very slowly when connected to AC and when I unplug I lose power in less than 20 minutes and the diagnostic says battery is in "Fair" condition and only charging at 41.38% of its original full charge capacity.  When I called customer service since I am still under warranty, they just said I could send in the laptop for repair which takes about 7 business days or go to a Best Buy for the GeekSquad to repair.  I went to Best Buy, but the Geek Squad said they would have to send it off for 13 days so none of this was helpful as this is my only laptop and I need it daily so to send it off for 7 business days would be difficult.  Are there any other options for repair that reduce the time significantly?  I can't believe Lenovo doesn't offer overnight shipping to expedite the process

Hello,I use Lenovo Ideapad U350 (2 years old.A few weeks ago I changed some details in the Lenovo Energy Management software (built in with the OS).Since then, the battery icon on the taskbar writes: "plugged in, not charging", and I see that 45% battery is available. I can't use the computer without the charger.I removed the battery drivers but nothing has changed. Please help. Thanks a lot.

Answer:Battery - Lenovo Ideapad U350

Kindly check the settings in Lenovo energy management

1. Click the "Settings" button.

2. Check "Optimize For Battery Runtime" under "Battery Health" and the problem will be resolved.

"Optimize For Battery Runtime" is to protect the battery and extend the lifespan of the battery. Because the lifespan of one battery is related to its charging circle, the power charging will automatically cut off to protect the battery when the power reaches to a certain amount.

If the issue persist then you need to reinstall the Lenovo energy management software.

Best Regards,
Tanuj
