Z580 Windows Driver/Programs issue's

Question: Z580 Windows Driver/Programs issue's

Hello... I recently tried to "upgrade" to windows 8 (I tried doing both, and upgrade and a clean install). Almost ALL of the Windows 8 drivers, I downloaded from the Lenovo Driver Matrix do not install. I get a varying array of error messages. I also can not get the smart fan (dedusting mode) to work, One Key Theater, Dolby Audio, etc, to work. This has turned out to be a total nightmare. Where, how can I get Windows 8 driver for my Z580 that will install correctly? How, where can I get the Dolby audio and One Key theater to install and work? How do I get the dedusting mode to work? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Having a problem with my laptop not finding any wifi networks. The wifi works on all the other electronics in the house so I'm not sure. The wifi is on, bluetooth seems to be working. I tried troubleshooting and it looks like I am missing an Intel Centrino Wireless N2200 Drive. I have tried to find a download for it but it doesn't seem to be working. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please have a look through the driver listings on your machine's support pages:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z580
You can narrow the listing to WLAN with the dropdown selector to see what's available for your OS version.

Try disconnecting your device first. Uninstall the driver with the yellow mark. Reboot then try connecting your device. In Windows 8.1 usually you don't need to install the usb drivers Windows itself will provide/install the driver.

Story: my company got two Z580 for me and my collegaue. His was Windows 7 edition (Win7 sticker at the bottom), mine Windows 8 edition (Win8 sticker at the bottom). Since we use Windows 7, I had to reinstall the system (to Windows 7). Everything went fine to the point when I had to install Nvidia drivers. The installer states that I don't have compatible hardware. This is odd becuase I have also Nvidia "Geforce with CUDA" sticker, and even BIOS knows I have dual card (Optimus). Windows by itself detected Intel chip and unknown VGA one. I tried Lenovo drivers (for Nvidia) and also the ones grabbed directly from Nvidia site. Any help/hints are greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Answer:How to install Nvidia driver for Z580 (Win8 version) with Windows 7 Pro?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Try updating the chipset driver, Intel graphic driver and then the Nvidia driver. Nvidia will not get installed without the Intel graphic driver. Also make sure that switchable graphics is enabled in BIOS. Here is the link with all compatible drivers.

I bought a ideapad z580 3 months ago and thought of upgrading to windows 8 (64bit). it was a pain. finally i had to revert to windows 7 because of driver installation errors & missing drivers. Can somebody tell me why i got these errors (i did a clean install of the os & tried running setup with admin privileges)realtek driver - No driver supported in this driver packagecamera -the setup program for the target device is not foundnvidia-unable to execute the command linetouchpad-setup asked for 64bit exe error also i got 'target device not found' & 'unable to execute the command line' errors for wireless, intel managment driver, vga driveronly chipset and energy management drivers installed properly.   I called lenovo chat support team & they helped me with installing driver by browsing the path in devmgmt.msc..thats not the normal way to install a driver. You click on a setup & it should install. Also i dont get to see 'Lenovo OneKey theatre' software on 'Other Softwares' category.I should call these as buggy drivers for windows 8 and dono why lenovo is pushing it to the support site. Ideapad Z580 users please try installing win8 in a virtual machine before upgrading your pc.am so frustated. spent more than 4 hours on Upgrade & still achieved nothing.

HI all, I have a Z580 and it was working fine until yesterday. My mic does not work with the Realtek drivers anymore. Hello, I've installed Windows 8.1 x64 on my Lenovo Ideapad Z580 laptop.I encountered that my USB 3.0 devices won't be recognized or are performing on USB 2.0 speed. I've installed the following drivers, but this doesn't fix the problem. - Intel Chipset Driver;- Intel Management Engine Interface;- Intel Rapid Storage technology;- Nvidia Video Driver;- Realtek Audio Driver;- Realtek Card Reader Driver;- Synaptics Touchpad Driver. I've found the USB 3.0 driver but this is only for Windows 7 x86 and x64 systems. This driver is not compatable with my system. Also in Device Manager there is one device what won't be recognized. (I gues the USB 3.0 driver)Windows Update also can't find it. Please help?

Answer:Z580 USB 3.0 Driver

The usb 3.0 driver are provided by the OS (true for Win 8/8.1). If you find them not working perhaps a reinstallation is in order. How? Open device manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Delete the list one by one. Then reboot. The OS will reinstall them. For USB 3 there should be in the list USB Root HUB (xHCI) and USB 3.0 xTensible Host Controller.

However, when I click the icon it starts charging so I am guessing there is no problem with the battery and AC adapter but I'm guessing there maybe a setting that requires me to click the battery icon to kickstart the charging proccess, am I correct? Is there anyway of changing this problem or is there actually a problem with my battery or AC adapter?

Answer:ideapad z580 usb issue

Hello everyone, REply to myself. Could not get the problem fixed, returned the unit. Bought a miditech audiolink pro. But I get the same problems. What is wrong with lenovo usb? I have exhausted all options with the manufacturer. Disabled the onboard sound and it still happens. Lenovo technical support won't help because it's 3rd party hardware and it's their responsibility to make sure it's compatible. However the steinberg support said they never had this issue reported before. So it has to be something with the laptop. I cannot find anything related online happening to anyone else. So I hope someone can help me out. I bought this laptop a year ago for 800 euros hoping to use it for music production and it would be pretty bad if that money was wasted. So maybe someone from lenovo reads this and could contact me? Thanks. Regards,

Hi guys, Bit of a peculiar problem related to VPN access. Does anyone know of any software installed on fresh out of the box Z580 that might interfere with VPN connections? I'm connecting into a watchguard firewall using their VPN software and can get a link but it won't receive data (transmitting seems ok). I've tried disabling the Windows firewall but to no avail. I've never had issues installing on other Windows 7 machines so I'm deducing that there must be something Lenovo specific that regulates VPN traffic. Connection is via IPSec. Ta

Hi all, Question, my over all laptop has been getting very hot.  The casing on bottom gets very hot to the touch.  I seem to think it is the fan.  Every once in a while I get a sound that sounds like a very loose cassette tape re-winding (any one remember them I hope)? I don't want to take it all apart to find that the description points to something else. Any suggestions appreciated. My thoughts with the heat are indeed the fan. Maybe it's trying to run and it isn't getting the correct power causing the sound? When I first heard it all I could think of was a cassette tape that had mileage on it rewinding where the tape sounds loose when it's almost finished. I hope that makes sense.  Can't think of another way to describe it.  Dare I say that VHS tapes did the same sound if they were older and rewinding.TIA,Lisa

Answer:Does this sound like a fan issue? Z580

First off you should go buy some compressed air (canister) from Staples or Walmart. Turn your laptop off, and shoot quick short bursts into the vents & fan intake, while holding the can vertically. NEVER hold the con to the side or upside down as that will shoot out freezing liquid propellant, which could cause severe damage.Lenovo IdeaPad Z380/Z480/Z485/ Z580/Z585 User GuideIf basic maintenance fails, the you should contact Support as soon as possible, especially if still under warranty, as you may have a bad fan bearing. Fans can go bad, especially when large amounts of dust and other debris collects on the fan blades and inner cooling channels.Found a YouTube video where the owner goes to extreme measures for cleaning, yet in some cases it may be best to use this method. Can surmise why he removed the hard drive was to prevent any possible accidental damage. As to him blowing out the debris, would rather recommend a short burst from canned air instead.Oh, and be sure to ground yourself to prevent static discharge! I got my laptop nearly a year ago, but haven't used it due to the fact my employer bought me a laptop instead to use for business as well as personal. But I left the company, had to give back the laptop unfortunately, and now that I've been on for about an hour I'm having some problems I just don't know how to fix. My wi-fi connection works on every device except for this laptop. It'll work for 10 minutes straight, then stop and when disconnect and then reconnect it'll work for 2-5 minutes then stop working again. So I'll click troubleshoot and it'll come up with "The default gateway is not available," every time without fail and it'll say its been fixed and it'll work but 5-30 minutes later it'll repeat the whole problem and I have to troubleshoot again so it'll work, which never lasts longer than 30 minutes! It's very frustrating, especially since I'm starting to take online classes and now my computer is just completely malfunctioning. Please does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Answer:Help! Wi-fi Issue W/ IdeaPad z580

hi LadyAmber13,

Welcome to the Forums.

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

Can you Try to:
1. Boot in Safe Mode with Networking and observe the wireless connection. If the Wi-Fi is stable, download and run the Mcafee Removal tool. When finished, reboot the computer and observe

2. As per jimjam1022's post, disabling Windows Firewal and performing a winsock reset helps solves the issue. To do a winsock reset, run a command prompt as admin and type the following (press enter after each line):

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset

Hope this helps

I bought Lenovo Z580 3 days ago, clean one (without Win7 installed), after first boot I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, to my suprise it took almost 2 hours. After couple of resets I got myself to Windows desktop, put Lenovo CD inside and started installing drivers. Everything went smooth, but I noticed one thing, laptop's performace was really low, I mean, it was reacting slow to mouse movement, switching between windows, etc. I thought it's because I had to do system restart, so I did. It didn't help. So I launched Windows Update, hoping it would help. After getting every single update, I did restart, as asked, but nothing has changed due to performance. Right now, I noticed new issue, when I listen to music and start doing something else, like launch Google Chrome, music starts to creak. The same is with movies, so I think it's some kind of sound issue. I tried playing games, launched Skyrim at lowest graphic settings possible, it got me like 20 FPS. I have no idea what might be causing it, or what to do to fix it. Is there anyone who faced similar issues and can help me?

Question: Z580 Crash Issue

I?ve had my Z580 since last December (so it?s still under warranty), and just recently if I push down on the left bottom corner of the laptop (to the left of the trackpad) the screen will glitch out and the computer will crash. It seems like this would be caused by the motherboard bending and something temporarily disconnecting, making the computer crash. It is also more prone to happen when the computer is warm, from playing a game or some other intensive application. Can I send this in to be fixed under the warranty? (I only have the normal one from when I bought the laptop)

Answer:Z580 Crash Issue

hi dachterm7622,

Your assumption is most likely correct. It's also possible that a part of the palm rest area (keyboard bezel) is touching the motherboard that causes the crash.

I recommend you report the issue to lenovo support ASAP as this should be covered under the standard warranty.

I have a relatively new Z580 (less than a month old) and the touchpad is having issues already. I've rarely used it because I prefer the mouse but it's useful for when I don't bring my mouse with me.The issue is that it's completely unresponsive unless the left key at the bottom is pushed down. So I can use it while holding down the left key, but of course it will highlight, drag, etc.. I did not have this issue when I first bought it; it probably only started a few days ago. UPDATE: Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. During that I was testing the touchpad and seeing if it worked. After some clicking, it started working normally again. Any ideas what caused this problem? I would like to avoid it in the future

Answer:Z580 Touchpad issue

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

I am suspecting the issue is caused by some driver files which may be missing or corrupted
But after reinstalling it has started working properly

Also I would suggest that you should update your system Windows, Drivers & Bios so that you don?t face such issues in future

Please let us know if you have any further question.
Hope This Helps
Cheers!!!

My Ideapad Z580 is almost 2 years old and, after progressing from Win 8 to Win 8.1, has picked up more than a few irritating habits, so I think it's high time I updated a few drivers. I thought I might start with the Wi-Fi one shown below but, looking at my device manager network entry, I'm not at all confident that the download is relevant for me and I'm thinking that, if I suck it and see, I might screw up my system. Or am I looking in the wrong place? Any advice gratefully received.

Hello, Firstly my apologies for starting a new thread similar to others. I have read a lot of different threads concerning models similar to, but not the same as, my own; the Ideapad Z580, but none of the advice has solved the problem: My battery is failing to charge, either reporting the 'No battery is detected' message, or 'Plugged in not charging' when attempting to charge. When the AC adaptor is unplugged the laptop shuts down within a few seconds So far I have tried: -Shutting down, removing battery, holding down power button for 30 seconds, reinstalling battery, rebooting. -Updating and uninstalling the 'Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery' driver: system won't update because it says it's the latest driver, when I uninstall and restart it has reappeared. -Running a complete gauge reset with the Lenovo Energy Management tools. -Reinstalling Lenovo Energy Management - although I was unable to find the same version so am now using the Z570 software. None of which has worked. Does anyone have anything else I should try? Many thanks, Colin

Answer:Battery Issue with Ideapad Z580

Welcome to the forum! I ran into a similar problem a while back with my Z570.  No matter what I tried the battery would not take a charge or indicate that it was charging while plugged in.  Given the various postings I've seen regarding this problem with the IdeaPads I decided to try different approaches to resolve this buggy behavior.  What finally resolve the problem in my case was using a Linux boot disc to boot up an operating system different than Windows. Once booted, I played with Linux several minutes so the battery would start charging again then I booted the machine back into Windows 7.  Problem solved.  My best guess, there is a bug somewhere between the Windows OS and the hardware of the machine.  That booting the system to a non-Windows environment corrects the problem.

Hello all, I bought a new Ideapad z580 laptop a few weeks ago: Intel Core i7 3612QM 2.1GHz (3.1GHz with Intel TurboBoost)8GB RAM1Tb HDD2GB Nvidia GT630 GraphicsWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.(I'm using the 15.6inch display and a seperate Samsung monitor in a dual screen setup)I've been having some issues with the display. On starting the computer, when the starting Windows logo comes up, several horizontal lines appear across the screen and the windows logo moves around, up and down rather than staying in a fixed place like normal laptops. Upon logging in, the screen looks ok but the bottom half of the screen keeps blacking out for half a second and then returning to normal (it seems to do this more when I first turn on the laptop and then disappears after a bit). Further to this issue, thin green horizontal lines keep appearing on the screen randomly and then disappearing after a split second (I could be just web browsing or I could be playing a game). I have had this issue from day one. I have attempted to fix it by reinstalling the Intel Graphics and NVidia drivers that were stored on the D: drive partition (the ones that came with the machine). I have also tried installing the ones located on the support website but they don't seem to resolve the issue either after restarting the PC. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hey, So I just received my new z580 (i5 3210, 630m, win7) and from the very first time i got the little yellow triangle on my wired internet connection. Diagnostic said that windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server) Ethernet port shows LED activity, both green and orange, the computer does get a good IP address (a public one like my other systems, ie 201. etc . I'm able to ping the router, the DNS servers are the same as on my other systems, but the Lenovo cannot ping or tracert the DNS server. I uninstalled mcafee, disabled windows firewall, no changes.  I then booted from a Xubuntu usb drive, it loaded and still i can't connect to the internet, same goes for a full Ubuntu install. I then made the big mistake of accidentally installing ubuntu over the win7 install, so i couldn't troubleshoot drivers and stuff (i'm still new to ubuntu, so i'm just now done installing win8). In win8, same issue and same diagnostic results. I'll try a few more things but was hoping someone here would be able to help. Thanks in advance!

I should note, i don't have a wireless router to test right now, i'll probably get one tomorrow/the day after

Hello everybody, I have recently bought a Z580 (59362732 Product Number), provided without a pre-installed OS. I sucessfully installed a Crucial SSD (into the place of the HDD), and replaced the DVD drive with the original HDD.After installing Win7Pro and all the provided drivers on the SSD (UEFI Boot was set to Enabled, SATA mode to AHCI before the install) I am experiencing a strange startup problem - it does not appear everytime, but the laptop hangs often right after the Lenovo logo disappears and restarts itself on and on, as if it could not find the partition to boot from. However, in the BIOS setup everything seems normal - it recognises both of my disks. This problem does appear on both UEFI enabled and disabled startups, but strangely, Windows starts without any problems after toggling the UEFI option in BIOS setup -- it does not matter if enabling or disabling it. I have been searching for the solution on the Internet but could not found any solution yet. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, feki1409

Answer:Z580 UEFI Boot Issue

Hello and welcome,

This is just pure speculation on my part:  the SSD is either defective or becomes busy for a time during boot while it does some internal housekeeping.

If you go to BIOS setup but just "pretend" to change the UEFI settings - I mean just pause there for the same length of time - does the OS then boot as it should?

I've seen something similar with a Crucial SSD. In that case it was on a ThinkPad and threw an error during boot until the SSD had been powered on long enough to complete its internal maintenance.  This was following an SSD firmware update.

Have you updated the SSD's firmware to the latest version?

I just bought a Z580 Ideapad a couple of days ago, I intend to dual boot off of it, either windows 7 and fedora or win 8 and fedora (it came with windows 8 pre-installed) I've so far been unable to get access to the bios from loading in, I've tried F2 which the manual and a number of posts have mentioned is the BIOS key for the Z580, I've also tried the novo key which some other site mentioned, I was able to get into the bios via the charm bar, in windows 8, I changed it from UEFI support to Legacy in the hopes that when I do install fedora and/or win 7 it'll make it easier, but I still don't know how to access bios without windows there's no message when I boot and no matter how many times I restart I can't seem to get it to load in by pressing the keys. I've been searching far and wide for information regarding this, and would appreciate any response that might help me. Alternatively if no solution can be found, I would appreciate if someone would point out to me a computer that doesn't have this deficiency as I'm still within the time frame to return this computer and would (albeit unhappily) return this one in order to purchase another that might not have this issue.

Hello, I have recently bought a brand new IdeaPad z580 for my sister and she called me today because she was having a problem with the battery. Before I gave her the laptop I put a clean win7 install on it and manually installed the lenovo drivers. Now what's happened is she charged her laptop overnight and when she started using it the next day win7 gave her the "consider replacing the battery" notice with the battery icon and the red cross in it. So this means the battery is not charging and the laptop can't function on the battery. Now I've searched the forums and came across a few "battery not charging" topics and I've not found a solution. I've tried removing the battery and pressing the start button for 40 secs (what does that even do on a dead laptop?), changing the settings in energy management and re-installing energy management. Nothing works... I think it may have something to do with the BIOS, which may not properly be reading the "design capacity" and/or "last full charge" information. Could my assumption be correct? And if so/if not, what should I do? I mean the laptop was bought 3 weeks ago, it has to be some sort of software problem right? Please help! Thanks in advance!

You shouldnt be dissapointed as every thing is fine. The black bars on side would stop coming if you resolution to the dedired in the graphic settings. It would be se for any resolution less than 1366x768.

My z580 laptop screen shows screen artifacts/flickering when I move the screen. When it is left untouched, the screen output is normal. With an external monitor while still using the laptop screen, the external monitor's picture is unaffected when I move the laptop screen.I get the same issue when I move the screen during boot up.I bought the laptop in September so its still under warranty, but I'd like to hear some ideas as to what the problem may be.

Answer:Ideapad z580 display issue

Ok so I want to take it in to get it fixed. I want to take it to one of the service providers/centers listed on the lenovo website. Since it is still under warranty do I need to contact Lenovo first? Sorry for the newbie question. Never had to take advantage of a warranty for my previous laptops. Their hardware failures occured during the end of their lifespan.

Now, I know there are like, 4 similar posts, however I've tried all of the solutions. I'm trying to boot from a chrome OS boot usb that I know works. I know I'm on secure boot and legacy is off so I go to try and boot into uefi to change that, however whenever I do it hangs for the longest time then skips straight to the onekey recovery. Tried different ways of booting to it, nothing. Tried just booting the USB drive but of course it won't boot as I'm still on secure boot with legacy off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Z580 Boot Issue

Have you tried booting from a DVD.  If not the its easy. When the computer starts up press F10.  It will give you boot options. Select the one qith the optical drive. While installing I advise you that you should make a partition of the Hard disk.  Well do you have SSD in your laptop. If yes then how much space it provides you?  Make some research and theen use the SSD for installing Windows.  Try this thing out. Hope it will work for you.

Answer:IdeaPad z580 Freezing Issue

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you were facing,

Since you are not get the same behavior in  safe-boot Windows ,  it's likely a corrupt driver or driver conflict. You might also want to try booting a Linux Live cd. if you get normal behavior, that would likely rule out a true hardware fault and put it back on Windows or drivers .
Also try disabling the trackpad and check
Also try uninstalling the touchpad driver. Then after rebooting go to http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers/ and downloaded " Windows XP/Vista and Win7 64-bit Edition v15.2.20"
Do give this a try and let us know the results

Hope This Helps
Cheers!!!

I've got Lenovo IdeaPad Z580, with Core i7 CPU, 4GB RAM and 1TB HDD. Few months ago I noticed that my OS sometimes would freeze (making this freakin' beeping noise) if I moved my computer too quickly from my desk (weird). It got worse few weeks ago and appears to be somehow related to my WLAN adapter. It mostly just simply - isn't working at all. WLAN switch disappears from BIOS setup, etc. like it was not even there. If I'm lucky (like I am now), it would work somehow. Just suddenly appears again in the BIOS etc. I can even use it on my Windows 8, but... if I'd move my laptop just a bit, it'll just suddenly freeze and rebooting results in WLAN adapter not in the system at all, or the connection drops out ("Limited Connection" etc. stuff). Restarting adapter from the system results in "No wlan networks found", wlan switch disappearing or freezing. I tried reinserting the WLAN adapter, it sorta fixed stuff when I did it for the first time, I got a week or so without issues at all, but it came back again and reinserting it no longer helps. First question is - what can I do with this WLAN adapter issue?Second question is - while doing all this reinserting thing, my screws are a bit stripped now (but not completely, it's possible to get them unscrewed without any problems) because I didn't noticed my screwdriver is broken and ruining them. Is my laptop still covered by warranty? I haven't removed or broken any warranty seals in the process though, just screws.... Read more

When trying to install the driver it always says "This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) WiDi or the application is in use.  Anyone able to get this to work. I wanted to play with it on my Nexus 4.

Answer:Z580 WiDi can't get the driver to install.

Intel® My WiFi Technology (Intel® MWT) and Intel® Wireless Display must be pre-installed and enabled.See this list for the specific requirements:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm If you have all the hardware listed above, then, see this list:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-032474.htm Make sure you scan at the Intel driver site in IE. Hi All, I have just upgraded my Z580 from 8.0 to 8.1 (x64) and everything is working except the camera (webcam). It was working fine in Windows 8.  If I look in the device manager I see "Access is denied" error message on the driver. every time I install the EasyCamera software (chincony - 64 bit windows 8.1) it fails with an unspecified error "setup failed".  It then tells me to plug in the camera, it then says "are you sure uninstall the camera driver" - I say yes and the uninstaller fails with an "uninstall driver fail" message.  I have also tried saying no to hte uninstaller option but to no avail.  Here is what I have tried: The following drivers0mca09w81.exethe Z380Z480Z580.....exe drivers from the chinese sitethe original Windows 8.0 drivers in d:\driversthe 32bit version of the driver With each driver above I have tried: Removed device from device manager, uninstalled webcam software, rebooted, reran the driver installer - FAILAs Above and run the installer as "administrator" - FAILAs Above but set the installer to compatability mode (Windows 7) - FAIL I know for sure that the camera is fine,  the wires are sound etc.  One minute it was working - upgrade to 8.1 and it stopped........... This is a driver installer issue but I am not sure how to proceed.  I have considered tracing the installer to see the registry keys it tries and changing the permissions on these I have also considered changing... Hello, I bought an ideapad z580 not to long ago with Windows 8 and I have had only one recurring issue with it. My wireless internet connection will go unavailable often. I know it's not my actual internet that is the issue, because it works perfect on my other laptop and I've never had this issue. Every time my internet disconnects, I try to reconnect it but it won't, which results in having to restart my computer and then it works fine afterwards, but eventually it will disconnect again. Like I said before, I know it's not my wifi connection. It works 100% until it disconnects and then, like I said, I have to restart my computer every time. I have no idea why it keeps doing this and I can't figure it out, so I was hoping someone could walk me through some steps to troubleshoot or perhaps if someone just knows what's going on, that would be splendid.

Answer:Ideapad z580 wireless connection issue

Same exact problem for me too! very frustrating. The connection will just randomly drop. It happens alot wen my comp goes to sleep and i wake it back up to find its disconnected, but also wen im actively using it. i have to play around with the connection, going back and forth between connecting and disconnecting until it works. the other way to get it to reconnect is to restart. Sometimes if i let the comp sit for a while it will reconnect on its own. The other thing is wen it disconnects and i look for active networks, my router is still there in the list. if i try to connect its works for a while and then eventually says cant connect to this network. All other computers work fine on the same router, never have disconnect probs. just seems like a very random prob with this computer or its wireless card. im running windows 8 on a lenovo ideapad z580. belkin router. intel centrino wireless n-2200 card. thanks for any help.

Well with my old clunky acer laptop I could use the touchpad on games flash games and still be able to use my touchpad. However on my new laptop I cannot do that and the touchpad stops working if I press a key. Also with Lenovo touchzone on start up it gives me a black background and I have to close it in task manager, could this be part of my earlier problem

Hi,I have a problem with my Lenovi Ideapad Z580. Below you can see the hardware specifications. My problem is that laptop is lagging (freezing) whenever I run movies, listen to music, youtube, basically while doing anything. It happens randomly, lasts only for few moments (like a scratchy noise). I do not need to restart computer, but it's very annoying and concerning, especially because the machine is only few months old and I would say, quite powerful. Just to give you some information in regards to what I tried so far:  - I checked processes in task manager whenever lagging occures > I noticed no issues. I mean, CPU ussage, Disk Usage etc. are all under 30-40-50% (if not less)  - Checked if laptop is overheating - 100% not the case, laptop is cold, normal temperature. I had a similar problem on my old Acer that was overheating, so I would know if this would be the problem - I ran virus scan - let me say that computer came installed with McAffee Security, which I disabled and installed Avast (free), as I read that McAffee can cause Wireless connection problem (which I had by the way...) - Updated Nvidia card drivers Any help, opinion would be appreciated, as I am getting more and more concerned with this issue. LenovoItem Weight2.6 KgProduct Dimensions25 x 37.6 x 3.3 cmBatteries1 Nonstandard Battery batteries required. Hello. There is something wrong with my WiFi, everytime I try to use my internet connection to ie. load YouTube movie or any page it takes ages to do so. I have to HLSW installed, it has function to show latency on your connection, whenever I don't do anything it stays around 15-20ms, but strange thing happens if I try to do anything at all that requires internet connection, even loading simple page takes it up to 1500-2000ms. Oh, and there are more CPUs in home network and they are working fine, so it's not internet provider issue. I wasn't like that from beginning, it started couple of days ago, tried reinstalling drivers couple times, tried looking for solution here, couldn't find any, do any of you have any idea what should I do to fix it?

Well since I've had the laptop I have had wi-fi isses, not related to my router. It is most likely down to the laptops wi-fi internals. I have checked the driver using 'device manager' and it is saying it's up to date. Hello everybody Kindly ask you to help me out. Any help would be appriciated. The laptop Lenovo Z580 runs Windows 8.1. It has Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. And it doesn't want to work with Edimax BR 6428-ns router on N band. Nothing gives any result. I tried the following: - enabling WMM- enabling QoS- switching to WPA2/AES encryption (shows network is limited when using this option)- switiching to WPA2 mixed encryption (shows network is limited when using this option)- switiching to WEP encryption- disabling encryption- changing from Auto 20/40 MHZ to 20 MHZ channel width - switching to N band only in router settings (shows network is limited when using this option) The laptop works with WPA (TKIP) encryption in G band only . The max rate speed is 18 Mbit Dwnl/Upl (according to speedtest). I also tried to switch to different channel numbers. No good at all. I installed the latest drivers for Net adapter from Lenovo website. In device manager IBSS Mode shows 802.11b/g Auto without N mode. When rolling back the driver to Microsoft driver the N mode appears in IBSS mode - 802.11b/g/n Auto. However it doesn't help. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hello everyone, I frequently face this problem for atleast twice a week. My laptop suddenly disconnects from WI-FI when I move from one place to another(from room to campus or lab to class, class to room) or when it is switched ON from sleep mode or  hibernate mode. I see a cross mark 'X' on the wi-fi bars. When I click to diagnose the problem it shows network adapter has been disabled and when I click to fix it, it then enables the adapter and connects to Wi-Fi but this process is successful only a few times. Most of the times diagnosing also doesn't work and I am forced to restart my laptop. When it restarts I land on a blue screen showing some system crash info for about 5-10 sec and  then it reverts back to normal windows OS login page. Then it works correctly and connects to wi-fi. And this process is repeated if I go to a different place or if I turn my laptop to sleep mode again. Please help me with this issue.

hi nairajin,

Welcome to the Community.

Is there any specific error message when you're not able to transfer anymore files thru bluetooth?

To verify if the bluetooth driver is causing the issue, try to:
1. navigate to Control Panel > Programs / Programs and Features and uninstall the Bluetooth Driver and reboot.
2. Open device manager and bluetooth device should look something like this:

3. Pair the device and try to send some files again
4. If the issue is solved, try to update Bluetooth Driver and observe

Hi, i purchased a lenovo Z580 with windows 7 HB,  i5 processor & 4gb ram on November 2012. Initially it took approximately 24 second to start but after reformatting it with the optical disks some days ago the startup time has become 50 seconds to 1 minute. I optimized the laptop using boot optimizer but that did not help since it is taking the same 1 minute start up and its asking repeatedly for optimization.the laptop has not been heavily used also During this time any sort of window service has not been enabled or has any new programme or application been installed. At the service center they are telling me that a 1 minute boot time is a not a big issue but then the Enhanced Experience 3 technology in the laptop is becoming useless. What is the problem occuring & how do i fix this problem?  Thanks!

I have Lenovo z580 without pre-installed Windows and in UEFI mode, bought in Aug'13. For these year and half I have using Linux and that was OK.But two days ago I'he get need Windows and decided to install W7 to my laptop. That was OK too (exclude no built-in LAN driver, but forget it). After all I have installed drivers from Lenovo Driver Page, include BIOS update (up to ...95WW version, I think), I installed ...public.exe part of it and rebooted my laptop. After that I got Secure Boot Block (no idea, how it works, hornestry), I've swiched it off in BIOS and reboot. Finally, I got Starting Windows screen for half-hour, which was rebooted by holding power button. Now I have glitch in top of the Starting Windows screen in my OS and same situation in case of loading from USB-stick. Loading from MBR-drive still alive at the moment. Can anyone be kindly and help me?.. It would be great to do something with it and boot Win from UEFI again. And sorry for my terrible English. ========== A final solution:Use LEGACY and UEFI FIRST values in Boot tab.

Answer:Z580 UEFI issue after updating BIOS

Hello and welcome,

Is there a separate option to enable CSM support in your BIOS? Somewhere near the legacy/UEFI setting, probably.

If so, turn it on and try it.  Win 7 UEFI mode w/out CSM support will hang at the Windows start splash in some UEFI implementations.

See the pictures below. http://i40.tinypic.com/2m76vqx.png http://i43.tinypic.com/2v1ulxw.png After saying ''checking application profile'', it shuts itself down instantly. Hello there, 3 days after receiving my z580 (win7, i5 3210, 630m) i'm still fighting it. While tshooting an earlier issue i accidentally got rid of all the partitions in the hard drive, and now i can't use my wireless card (which i know was at least detecting my neighbors signals with the original OS). I think that just prior to deleting the original partitions i had used the function keys to disable the wireless card, and somehow that seems to have triggered a hardware switch which i can't seem to find a way to turn back on.I imagine that installing the osd/hotkey driver should restore that functionality but after trying everything in the z580 downloads page both for win7 and 8, plus some other possibly older lenovo hotkey drivers, i'm still without luck. I really miss the days when hardware switches were actual hardware switches.Thoughts?

I saw an update for my Ideapad Z580 Nvidia GT635M graphic card on nvidea website is it okay if update from there and will it cause any malfunction to the graphic when i install it?

Answer:Graphic card/Driver update question for Z580

hi ron153,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If you have the Lenovo Z580 with Intel HD Graphics + Nvidia GT635m, it is recommended that you install the graphics driver from the Lenovo site as these drivers are customized and certified for the Nvidia Optimus Technology (Intel HD + Nvidia graphics switching).

Although getting the latest drivers from the Nvidia website would be a good step, there's no guarantee that all features will work (like graphics switching between Intel and Nvidia) as the drivers are not customized to the design of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (in some cases, you may get an error No Suitable Graphics Device Found).

Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm having a problem with the left-click on my Z580. The trackpad and right-click continue working fine, but the left-click (and single tap on touchpad, equivalent of left-clicking) suddenly stop working completely. I think both times it happened I was try to highlight some text, so holding the left-click down, so I'm not sure whether that has anything to do with it. It happened yesterday, and again today. Restarting the laptop fixed it both times, but it worries me! Do you think it's a physical problem with the touchpad, or a driver issue? I only bought the laptop in summer  2013, but it was a display model so I guess the touchpad has had more use than most of this age. Still, I thought Lenovos were pretty reliable so hadn't expected a problem so soon. I'm not very knowledgably with the technicalities of computers (but can follow instructions!) so any help would be hugely appreciated as I'm not sure where to start trying to diagnose the issue.

I am setting up this laptop for a family member. It came with win8, but I put in a new ssd and installed win7 pro ( I am tech support and I hate win8 and don't know it well enough to take care of the inevitible support issues). I downloaded all the appropriate drivers from the Lenovo website for the correct version of windows and this machine. Everything seemed to work fine. Then, for quite a while, when I booted the machine it would start up with the energy management software, or the keyboard, or the one touch keys and/or the touchpad, or all of the above, not working. Or the touchpad would eventually work, but with almost no functionality and the synaptics setup tab showing only a patent, and no options for tweaking the touchpad. And the Fn F6 buttons might show the icon for the touchpad being shut off, but is was not. I uninstalled, reinstalled, tried different versions, eventually I thought I had it beat. I could boot the machine and everything actually works. Until today. After several reboots the keyboard and touchpad were refusing to work. Then after several more boots, the keyboard worked, but not the TP. Then the TP would work, but with limited functionality. A few more reboots and the TP is working as it should. I thought maybe having my corded mouse plugged in when booting might be confusing it somehow, but unplugging it and several reboots later there was no joy. Other times it lit right up with the mouse plugged in and the TP worked as i... Read more

Hi, Greetings!!! This is my first post to this forum as i bought my lenovo IDEAPAD Z580 laptop recently. I read the much about Disk Partitions and one key recovery query. Now, I decided that i wont bother about OKR and will go for fresh partition my disk drive as per my needs and a fresh installation of WIN7.So, my question is, what software and drivers i need to backup first so i will have all per-installed softwares/fucntion - keys working correctly except OKR after installation from scratch? Is backing up  all which are there in Lenovo_Driver Folder will serve the purpose? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Need all Softwares and Driver list required for LENOVO IDEAPAD Z580

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

Since you wish to perform a fresh instillation, I would recommend that you first create a copy of recovery DVD?s using OKR, Then you can manually copy all the drivers from Lenovo Driver Folder to an external drive or thumb drive. You can also download all drivers from our support website

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Regards

Good day,

After coming to this forum for ages for fixes and tips I've finally stumbled upon an issue I just don't seem to be able to fix with just google skills and common sense...
These issue's seem to have started after a Windows update (on 30-August-2016), I'd like to tell you which one but can't find it at this point in time.

Things i've tried;
- Windows Repair AIO (only runs from savemode).
- SFC /scannow (also only from savemode).
- cleaning up MSCONFIG startup & non ms services.
- Malwarebytes (nothing found, also only savemode).
- Rkill (nothing found).
- Combofix did a full run in savemode but no succes.
- cleared policy hijacks and checked them manually.
- checked local gpo's (all default).
- Tried installing update rollups but WUSA just hangs.
- Starting Trusted installer service or Windows update service just hangs (error 1053).
- Starting Teamviewer service (also hangs then error 1053).
- Upgrade to Windows 10 (not working, hangs on collecting Windows updates).
- MMC's run but if i open Windows update it just hangs in processes (no front end).
- Explorer will hang after a while and hangs on searching favorites & libraries (only fix is a reboot).
- .Net FX repair tool doesn't finish, reïnstall just hangs after file verification has finished.

I'm a bit stumped and would rather prevent a total reinstall were possible...
Have not tried a "diagnostic startup" in msconfig but might still be worth a shot...

Any help/tips would be... Read more

I urge you to read and follow the instructions provided below.
Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:  List last 10 Event Viewer log  List Installed Programs  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy,  taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.
Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.
After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

As the title says, just wondered if theres any lenovo software the works with the z580 ? lenovo companion on windows 8 offers some stuff but its listed as u series ect ? cheers for replys inadvance, mike

Answer:(z580) Just wondered what lenovo software will work with the z580 ?

hi mikee77,

The Lenovo Z580 comes with these lenovo pre-installed apps:

Lenovo OneKey RecoveryLenovo OneKey TheaterLenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSyncLenovo Energy ManagementLenovo Companion

The Lenovo Companion is like an app store the features:

Third-Party Apps and Ads
Lenovo products, Tutorials, Application showcases, Lenovo accessories information, Lenovo Cloud, and a link to Lenovo blogs and articles

Most apps listed on the Lenovo Companion will work on the Z580 as long as it meets the system requirements (i.e. If an app is made only for Touchscreen models, then you will need to get the non-touchscreen version or if there's a Utility app that senses temperature on a specific model, make sure Z580 is on the supported models).

Click here for more information on the preloaded softwares on the Z580 and click here for more information on the Lenovo Companion.

Hope this helps.

Hey, good people. I am having a pretty serious issue with WINXP right now and need some help. Here's the history:

--Computer started acting up one day, locked up and after rebooting would continue to automatically reboot just before loading Windows.

--Made the horrendous mistake of taking my computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They told me that the hard drive was corrupt and that a stick of RAM was corrupted. They removed the bad 512K of RAM and told me I would need a new hard drive.

--I took my computer back and ran a repair install of WINXP (which is what I should have done in the first place). The computer finally started booting normally.

--Later I learned that any new software would not install because Windows Installer seemed to be missing files, even though I had ran a repair install.

--Even later I also learned that Add/Remove Programs no longer exists in my Control Panel, and not only that, appwiz.cpl is also missing from WINDOWS\SYSTEM32.

So at this point I'm at a loss as to how to repair Windows Installer and Add/Remove Programs (I'm sure they're related on some level?). I don't know why my repair installation did not take care of those, either. It's either reformat the entire drive (or replace it), which I could do eventually, but I need to back up some things first, or find a way to get Windows Installer and Add/Remove Programs back. Are these modules that can be re-installed from the web possibly?

I'm just curious ab... Read more

Answer:WINXP - Windows Installer and Add/Remove Programs issue

In the time it would take you to research a possible solution and try it, you could easily back up your data and reformat.

I would back up your data right away, and then run some diag tests on your HDD. No need to replace it if it's working fine.

Hello, and thank you for the free support!

I've been having issues with our computer for the past week and a half or so, where we try to run a program, and get an error message stating that it can't find the location--this has been many programs, not just one. Sometimes, we don't get the message, but the program simply never starts. I noticed it initially when I saw that the color scheme had changed from the custom color I had (in the shortcut-startup bar at the bottom of the screen) back to the blue Windows gradient. When I went to check it out, it couldn't find the files in the control panel to open the properties. Also, we have had Windows Explorer itself crash a few times. I am assuming that this is all related somehow. The problem will generally temporarily resolve with a restart, although at least once I had to power down with the button because the computer couldn't find the files to restart through the start menu. I have run a couple of different spyware programs--HitMan Pro (I don't have the paid version, so I couldn't fix anything it found), and MalWareBytes. MalwareBytes found and fixed something last week, but I'm afraid I don't know what it was at this point.

I'm wondering what I should do first--I'm hoping to avoid reinstalling Windows at least for a bit, as I don't have any external devices large enough to do a full backup--I've been manually backing up things like photos onto a smaller externa... Read more

As the neighborhood PC guru, friend asked me for help installing some programs on his 3 month old HP laptop model G62, with Win7, Home Prem, 64bit, SP1. He wanted Winzip, Verizon Comm Mgr to tether his BB, Mozy backup, HP printer drivers for an HP L7780 AiO, and Outlook 2010. Attempts to install each of these programs met with problems.
1. Paid for and tried to install Outlook 2010 from the MS website. It failed to install completely and terminated.
2. WinZip, downloaded but installation failed.
3. I tried to install Windows 7 HP printer drivers but installation failed without warning.
4. I tried to install Mozy online backup software, installation failed due to lack of Admin rights.
5. I tried to install Verizon Communication Manager, installation failed due to lack of Admin rights.

Here's everything I tried so far:
1. Checked for updates to Java. Installed new version.
2. Ran Adobe updater, updated Adobe Reader.
3. Removed old Java using the Control Panel, V1.4.2_03, J2SE.
4. Created a backup copy of the Window 7 registry and backed up on a CD.
5. Installed three critical updates for Windows 7
a. Windows 7 Service Pack 1
b. Malware tool updates
c. Windows Live Essentials
6. Installed the following optional programs recommended by MS after a scan:
a. RealTek Audio driver update
b. RealTek Program update
c. Synaptics Touch pad driver update
d. Windows 7 security update KB2281161
e. Windows 7 security update KB2413186

Answer:Windows 7 Admin Rights Issue Won't Allow programs to install

I have one that I always use. Start/cmd/admin/ type in sfc /scannow and let the system file checker do its thing. Any time the basic Windows files are corrupt all kinds of goofy things can happen. It can't hurt but it just might tell you a lot. It takes a few minutes, have a cup of joe. I also have a fondness for Super Anti Spyware. Normally a virus or a trojan will not let you update your anti virus or any thing like it. My understanding is you have admin. rights is that correct? I don't know what super admin. rights are. If for what ever reason you have to do a format and reinstall I would recommend wiping the drive clean with a 3rd party program first. A format does not wipe the drive and some bad things can hang around and reload when you do a fresh install. Kind of like the Snake in the wood pile, you don't see it until you kick the wood pile again.

For some time now I have been unable to install many things that require .NET framework to run as well as install Windows updates. I get error codes after the updates fail to install such as 66A, 64C, 6B2, 2, and 8024200D. When I try to install/remove windows or non windows programs I get an error (See error1.gif attachment) I can't help but not get this error. I have done many things to try to fix this problem, like a sfc scan, chkdsk, ms fixit, and sys restore.I have tried uninstalling .NET framwork with and without the dotnetfx cleanup tool but it does not work. How can I fix this without having to send it in for repair or having to backup/format/reinstall os?[regaining space - attachment deleted by admin]

I have a Sony Vaio SVE1712Q1EW, bought in Feb this year. From the start, the screen would freeze momentarily and the following error message regarding the AMD Driver - 'AMD Driver has stopped working and has successfully recovered ' - would pop up. I have gone through a long process trying to resolve this - downloading AMD driver updates, doing a full system restore (following a system crash), uninstalling the driver, and eventually, on Sony Tech support advice, sending the laptop in for repair (twice). The first repair they replaced the entire hard drive, but within a day of the laptop being returned, the error message recurred. Sony appear unable to resolve this but I am wondering whether there is some kind of incompatibility with Windows 8 and this driver. Does anyone know?

Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 8, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 6091 Mb
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7650M, 1024 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 678802 MB, Free - 628602 MB;

Answer:Windows 8 and driver issue?

I have no clue what's wrong, but also am not clear on from where you are getting the updates for the graphics card. First choice should be Sony's web site if they supply it and second choice would be AMD's site.
