Preferred Solution: (z580) Just wondered what lenovo software will work with the z580 ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: (z580) Just wondered what lenovo software will work with the z580 ?

hi mikee77,

The Lenovo Z580 comes with these lenovo pre-installed apps:

Lenovo OneKey RecoveryLenovo OneKey TheaterLenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSyncLenovo Energy ManagementLenovo Companion

The Lenovo Companion is like an app store the features:

Third-Party Apps and Ads
Lenovo products, Tutorials, Application showcases, Lenovo accessories information, Lenovo Cloud, and a link to Lenovo blogs and articles

Most apps listed on the Lenovo Companion will work on the Z580 as long as it meets the system requirements (i.e. If an app is made only for Touchscreen models, then you will need to get the non-touchscreen version or if there's a Utility app that senses temperature on a specific model, make sure Z580 is on the supported models).

Click here for more information on the preloaded softwares on the Z580 and click here for more information on the Lenovo Companion.

Hope this helps.

I've waited a long time before installing Win 10 on my IdeaPad Z580, but was finally persuaded to try it out with a complete clean install. Thankfully, after a few teething troubles, it now works fine, except for one thing - the camera. I can't find a driver for EasyCam with Win 10 on the Lenovo site, so before I commit to buying a separate camera I would like to ask if anyone has any suggestions for solving this problem so I can use Skype properly. I've tried everything suggested on the Microsoft Win 10 site without succcess. Many thanks in anticipation!

Answer:Lenovo Z580 undusting doesn't work

Hi iShkilenok ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to uninstall energy management and the reinstall it back from the support site .
Restart the pc and test.

If same issue , you may have to physically open the cover and inspect the fan if it would be able spin.
While turned of try to test if the fan will smoothly move by pushing it with a small stick.
Check if there are clogged materials preventing it to spin like strands of fibers and dust.
Use a blower as needed .

If you don't have the tools or experience on doing this best that you have a service technician in your location do it for you.  Herewith are the hardware manual for review and guide.

Hi there guys, got a relatively new z580 with windows 8 - only a few months old. Ever since the beginning i had trouble with the so called "intelligent" touchpad - it used to crash every now and then and a simple restart would do the trick. I have tried a lot of drivers and a lot of updates, but none seemed to resolve the issue. Nowadays even restarting the laptop does not help - touchpad software does not even strart.Would be great if someone could give me a tip,if something has worked for you.

Info- I am using a Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 with windows 8
So just earlier today my wifi was working fine. Then randomly I lose wifi and it won't list any networks that I can connect to. I did some troubleshooting and it says that my Software Radio is off. How do I turn it back on? I do not have a switch or button anywhere that I can see on my laptop.

Answer:Solved: Lenovo IdeaPad Z580- Software Radio off

Normally the radio button is in the control panel under wifi/ or wireless adapters. You will be able to turn it on/off from there.

I hope this helps.

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Hi sapsm9,

Thanks for posting!

Your system might be triggering the Intel Turbo Boost Causing you system to heat up.

This is how you'll get to the settings

 Open Control Panel
               / Hardware and Sound
                    / Power Option
/ On you selected Power Plan Click on the Change plan Settings
Now click on Advanced Power Settings and look for this option and set both AC and On Battery to 99 %

Try Changing the Maximum processor state to
    On Battery:  99%
    Plugged in:   99%
Hit Apply and hit OK

This will halt the Intel Turbo boost from kicking in and over heating that's possibly throttling down the GPU/CPU performance.

Let us know you findings.

Lenovo no more a brand name, My z580 is the example.Purchased 2 months, dont like win8, so install win7 to instead it, but the result is : black scream.Called in: the answer was radicuous, they said customer cannot downgrade win 8 to win 7 without contact Lenovo.and now the motherboard had been conflict. the solution is spending $89.00 to purchase the recovery CD from Lenovo. Fine, I paid for it. After i receiving the Disc, I called in Lenovo, this time, they said the motherboard had been conflicted, need a new motherboard to replace it. and it cose about $200.00 . Do they know the brand new computer jsut cost $400?Of course, I did not purchase the motherboard, because I do not what is after.May be another part of it and cost another $100-200. This will be my last lBM/lenovo.After 15 years of Loyalty,  I can feel the quality of service and product had been gone. They are not a brand name company any more,

I have downloaded a program that reads the temperature of my cores (SpeedFan 4.49) just to see how hot my Lenovo Z580 gets when i'm playing games. When i'm playing Resident Evil 6, my cores are reaching temperatures of around 100 degrees, which sounds like it could be a problem! (This is from playing on 1280x720 specs)Can anyone please tell me what the normal temperatures of my CPU and GPU should be? And what is the maximum temperature that my CPU and GPU can get to before it starts becoming dangerous to my laptop? Thanks very much! Josh

Answer:What temperatures are too hot for the Lenovo Z580?

Try using other programs that shows cpu core temperatures and gpu temperatures. I use Hardware Info Monitor. You can get a general idea of the normal temps by not running games and videos temporarily. One determining factor that your unit is running at an exceedingly high temperature is the constant running of the built-in cooling fan. If this happen you do need some extra cooling like an external cooling pad.

Hi, I ran into this issue a few days back.http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Random-shutdown-and-PXE-E61-and-PXE-M0F-err... I searched for solutions all over the web and was'nt able to resolve the issue so i took my laptop to 'the guy' and he diagnosed a Hard Drive failure and asked for my Internal HDD to be replaced. I was fine with it until i heard his quotation for a replacement Hard Drive (Seagate or Toshiba) which would cost me a bomb. So i decided i'l come back home and check if i can do it myself for cheaper. And i found that if i could do it at home it would be significantly cheaper and also replacing the Internal Hard Drive is no rocket science. I now know how to replace the Internal HDD after going through various forums and youtube videos.  What i don't know is which are the alternate HDDs which will be compatible with my z580. I somehow managed to pull out a few 500gb HDDs which i think might suit my Laptop.  I want some suggestions as to whether these would be compatible with my Lenovo Ideapad z580. If yes, then which would be the best or are there any better (500 gb) models out there.  If no, where am i going wrong and could you suggest a suitable replacement. Here are the Hard Drives which i think will work : 1)  Seagate (ST9500423AS Momentus 7200.4) 500gb SATA Laptop Hard Disk.2)  Seagate Momentus (ST500LT012)3)  Western Digital WD5000LPVX 4)  T... My problem began when I updated my BIOS at Lenovo to version 5FC95WW. Now my laptop will not boot into Windows 7. It automatically goes to the Bios set up screen only. After I save and exit from the Bios screen & wait about 15 seconds it goes back to the 'set-up' screen again. It will not do anything else. Everything appears to be normal in that screen. Has anybody got any suggestions. Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Z580 fan issues

Hi fahrabh,

The first problem is that your machine is not on the list of compatible systems that can currently run Win 10. This does not necessarly mean it wont run it but you might encounter this and other bugs.

It is uncertain whether or not your system will be added to the list so the best piece of advise is to revert back to your previously working OS.

If your heart is set on keeping Win 10 then somethings you can try:

1. Uninstall and reinstall power management software.
2. Try running a lower energy profile, not performance.

Hi there, I have been led here because of a few issues my dad is having with his new Lenovo Z580.  It's a similar story, guy in his 50s gets a new laptop, has windows 8 and he almost throws it out the window, and so we have a genuine windows 7 license so I eventually get that on there. Everything seems to be ok apart from 2 things.  1) The Bluetooth wont work. He has a Bluetooth mouse but it will not connect. Any ideas? I realize that the UK drivers site is absolutely atrocious, I has to go to the Chinese site just to get the WIFI working!  2) Office will not install. This is strange one. I have genuine licenses for both 2007 and 2010. I started with 2007, its what he's used to. It goes through the whole install setup without a hiccup. Afterwards, I'll click on any of the office suite programs, and it will say "installing software" followed by "software installation failed" or something along those lines. Same with 2010. I have no idea what is causing this, and so all advice is much appreciated.  Sincerest apologies if this has been posted before.  Thanks in advance.  Jamie.

I don't believe this is a bios issue that I've read many others having and fear it's MB/CPU related.  On startup, I get the tell tale black screen that just hangs. No splash screen, but everything else sounds active. Caps lock indicator will light up when toggled, although somewhat delayed. I've tried hooking up an external monitor, swapping ram, pulling battery and just about everything else, but none of it was successful. I've tried booting with the Novo button, and that does pop up, but selecting any of the 4 options results in the same black screen.    Haven't had any luck since it first happened getting past the boot screen.  Anything I'm missing trouble shooting wise? Or can anyone confidently say it is a MB/CPU issue?

is the port physically wobbling as in loose? if so they should have fixed that. If its fixed and it still wont charge it could be your charger got fired froma short when it was loose, if you havea multi meter you chould check the end that goes into the laptop for the right amount of amps ect.

Encoding a SD MPEG-2 movie to 1080 HD H264 through Sony Vegas Video 12 with GPU acceleration on and off results in essentially the same amount of time: about 1x real-time encoding speeds on the i5 CPU. Thus, those that want faster should look into the i7 CPU instead.Noticeably, at least for the Sony Vegas Video H264 encoder, the quality of the CPU-only encode is better than the GPU accelerated encode.CPU was about 60-65% loaded on CPU-only encode; about 20-25% on GPU encode (using the Intel HD 4000 Quicksync). But none-the-less, faster than the 6-8x slower than real time encoding of a decade old Pentium 4 3.06Ghz CPU system.Fan does speed up when the encode is underway, but it's nowhere as annoyingly loud as that on the 2006 Macbook Pro 15" (which sounds like an airplane engine)! Quite decent considering that you've got a ~35w TDP (45w+ at times) i5 CPU in there (Macbook Pro's also a 35w TDP CPU from 2006 era).---Comparing the screen vs. a decade old Toshiba 1130 and 2006 MacBook Pro 15" screen, the Toshiba is definitely inferior - very limited viewing range and mostly yellowish colors. Dull.Macbook is better at viewing angles than all three, but the colors are more yellow than real-life (eg. HDTV scenes of a 8-9am overcast day results in the road and sky looking more like it was a nice, warm, sunny day instead). That's on the default gamma included by Apple. I brought a Z580 (M81K8UK) last year september brand new and have used it without issues since. This morning I turned it off before I went to sleep at 4am. Woke up this morning, pressed the power button and nothing. Laptop doesn't turn on or give any indication of anything. Put the battery in, pressed the button, still nothing. Plugged it in with the battery and the battery light comes on and when I press the button it goes off until I release it. I've tried discharging (taking the battery and ac out), pressing the power button a number of times and holding it then leaving it for a bit, but still nothing. I'm starting to become worried its a motherboard issue, but im still hoping for the best. I had turned off the power from the wall for the weekend on friday as I was out till sunday evening, but when I turned it on on sunday night it started up without issue. I'm a student whose tight with money at the moment and am hoping lenovo support can do something without payment, even if its out of warranty as I haven't modified or done anything other than use it as it should be used (I still take care of it as though its brand new; heck I've even increased the battery life to 4 hours after careful planning and usage). I would call the standard 0844 uk support line, but its really expensive for the situation I'm in at the moment as I only have a mobile and no access to a landline.  Next step I want to open it and take out the CMOS battery to hard reset, but d... Hi, I appreciate that this question may have been asked but I have never seen the answer. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z580, i3 running Windows 10 Home 64 bit. The HDD wasn't cutting it so I decided to upgrade it. I got my SSD the 'Sandisk Ultra II Plus'. Upon installation I am unable to anything with the new drive. Lenovo customer service wont help and I have no idea what to do. I thought I would just put the drive in and go into Boot Menu and select my USB and start installation but no. The lenovo logo would not even appear. If I press the small button by the on button it says Novo Button Menu but nothing happens if I select an option. Even if the old hardrive is in (which still works) and I attempt to access bios it just boots into Windows. I am left feeling completely helpless and since the laptop is easily out of warranty (bought 2012). I can't do that Any help would be appreciated no end Many thanks

I have my Z580 connected to a Dell monitor as an extended screen.  Almost every time I turn on the laptop, the laptop screen starts off all black (even after boot is complete).  When the 2nd monitor is plugged in (via VGA), the 2nd monitor works but the main laptop screen remains blank (to clarify, this happens whether the 2nd screen is plugged in during startup or not...main laptop screen is all black).  After I turn off the laptop (one tap on the power button...more of a standby or sleep than a turn off) and turn it back on, both screens function normally.  But it's kind of annoying that I basically have to start it up twice every time.  Anyone have this happen before or know of a solution?

Answer:Lenovo Z580 defaults to 2nd monitor

To clarify further, the Z580 is the main display and the Dell monitor is the 2nd (extended) display, connected to the Z580 via a VGA cable.

I have a Lenovo Z580 since yesterday my laptop screen has gone white , I have tries taking the batteries out and using only the adaptor still it wont workbut it works on external display please help

Answer:lenovo z580 screen goes white

hi jileshz,

Thanks an Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums,

If the display is showing Properly on an External Display, that points to your LCD as the one causing this,
You can Try doing a Power Drain as the first before taking any other step,
Remove tha AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Then reconnect only the AC Charger and Try.

If your system is still within warranty period you I strongly suggest you call Lenovo Technical Support in your location and have the LCD check and replaced,

-OR-

If your comfortable with reseating some Parts You can check you system Maintenance Manual here, and try reseating the LCD connection you may try other compatible LCD cable aswell,

NOTE:
The system board is sensitive to, and can be damaged by, electrostatic
discharge. Before touching it, establish personal grounding by touching a
ground point with one hand or using an electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap

Hello guys, having some trouble with my laptop.. when doing some light work like internet, msoffice the temperature reading always seems to be around 50 to 55 and during playing games like fifa 13 etc it rises upto 75'c.. The "base centre"(not around the fan side) seems to me quite hoter than usual.. So what do you think, is this a problem??

Answer:Lenovo z580 heating issue

75c is normal, as longs as it`s lower than 85-90c+ you will be fine. John.

Hi
I have a Lenovo notebook z580 with windows 8 pre-installed when i bought it and soon as i set it up and connected to internet through WiFi everything was fine until i close the lid and ope it back up it takes up to 5 minutes the longest to connect to the hub same with when the laptop is powered on, i then updated to the free windows 8.1 and it seemed to of fixed the problem but there was too many bugs and crashes with Windows 8.1 that i had to come back to windows 8 and the problem is now back if windows 8.1 fixed the problem surely there is a way of doing it with just windows 8.
Thank you

Here's my sad story (I'm using a Lenovo Z580 laptop with Windows 7):

On Tues, 11/11/14 I installed all of the critical & important Windows Updates along with 2 additional updates (I don't recall what the additional ones were for).

After the updates completed I rebooted the machine, but the display did not come on. The lights and fan came on, but no display. I rebooted 3 or 4 more times and nothing changed. I plugged an external monitor into the laptop but got no display on either screen. From there I spent an hour or so powering the machine completely down, removing the battery, then rebooting while trying to enter either Safe Mode with F8 or the BIOS with F2 but each time I did the computer did not respond. A friend suggested removing and replacing the CMOS battery. I did that, put the machine back together, but now when I push the power button the lights and fan come on for about 1 second, go off for about 8 seconds, and that cycle (1 second on, 8 seconds off) repeats until I remove the battery. I did put back the original CMOS battery and the same thing continues to happen.

I've gone all over the internet for the past 2 days looking for suggestions and nothing I've found or done is resolving the issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Right now I've got a brick, so I'm pretty willing to try anything.

Steve

Hi,I recently purchased a Lenovo z580 and whilst playing a game on it today it shut down, this was obviously because it overheated so I allowed it to cool and then turned it back on, however monitoring the temperature using speed fan it gradually increases in temperature going up to 80 - 90 degrees just on desktop and the fans seem to be doing nothing and I was wondering if there was a way of changing the fan speed or knowing if they are in fact doing anything or maybe a way of preventing this. Thanks

Answer:Lenovo z580 Overheating Fans Seem to Be Doing Nothing

Fans engage automatically based on temperature. By "doing nothing" do you mean they don't start at all, or they just don't reduce the temperature? If they don't start despite reaching 90░C, then there's a problem with either the temperature sensor (unlikely), or your fan has died.

GPU isn't normal. CPU is completely normal. GPU should be 86 max. Above that will result to premature dying of your GPU.

Hello, fellow Lenovo users, i have a serious and reoccuring wifi problem with my z580 equipped with Broadcom 802.11 n and windows 8.1. I know many of you had the limited connection problem, and I read many forums and supposed solutions, but I think my situation is even worse if possible.  Although the connection is regularly lost, (limited) when i disconnect and reconnect, a massive freeze happens, the sreen stops, the mouse is not moving neither. Afterward, sometimes the system comes back alive. However, even if it does, no wifi is avaiable as no adapter is recognised as installed.Several restart can cure it for some minutes, than the whole procedure starts over. On linux, no such problem occured, thus I assume it is a driver problem. This is very frustrating, please help me if you have any idea. What I tried so far: reinstall the adapter from the lenovo sitereinstall it by windows updatemanually installing the broadcom multiband drivermanually installing the broadcom drivermanually installing the microsoft driverswithing of the adapter sleeping function paland3

I was cleaning my keyboard because I spilled something, so I pulled off my left ctrl key, but I must have pulled it off the wrong way because I cannot get it too reattach properly. All the other keys that I cleaned clicked back into place, but this one just won't. It looks like a bit of damage to the clipping part. I was wondering if I would be able to order a new key from lenovo themselves as I can easily fix it myself, and it'd be a lot of hassle to send it in for someone to just clip a key in (plus costly, as my warrenty ran out last month)

Answer:Lenovo Z580 broken keyboard key?

Welcome to the forum ! Chances are Lenovo will sell you a new keyboard, but not the individual key which you need.  I would suggest checking on e-Bay to see what is available for your model. That's my go to source for keys.  If your key cap is good and only the hinge is broken that should give you more options to choose from since most hinges are universal among the various manufacturers.  Otherwise there are companies that sell replacement keys.  My link below is for one such company........ http://www.laptopkey.com/KeyboardKeys.php/Lenovo/Z%20Series/Z580

I am having trouble with the keyboard for my Lenovo Z580. The touch pad will randomly stop working for a few seconds at a time and then the keyboard will type characters erratically or delete items without me pressing any buttons. I thought it may have to do with the touchpad sensitivity but I tried to adjust the settings on the touchpad and even uninstall the touchpad program but the keyboard is still typing ".............................." or deleting everything without me intending to do so. If I press "Num Lock" it will stop for a few seconds and then start again. I sent it in to the warranty company I got through Staples (where the computer was bought) and they said they replaced the AC adapter but I am still having the same problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I've had my Lenovo since July of 2012, and after about 3 months of use, the Wi-Fi stoped functioning. It takes a lng time to connect to my home network, and only connects IM clients and google webpages on my browser. I've tried so many things and nothing has really changes it. My wired ethernet connect seems to work fine, so I've been using that. I must have it wired or I have the disfunctional Wi-Fi problem. I haven't been able to take my laptop anywhere for the past year, and would still really like to solve this problem. If anyone can give me a hand here I'd appreciate it a lot.Thank you to anyone who can help me prior to the help.Dylan F.

Answer:SCREEN PROBLEM IN LENOVO Z580

hi ANKITTULI

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

For the Spot you're seeing on the screen
you can look online about Hot pixel/Dead Pixel images and see if that's the same as what you have.
or you can try connecting an external monitor to check if it will still appear and isolate screen issue.
If that's the case Since you have Accidental Protection you should call Lenovo Technical Support for assistance.

About your Gaming Issues
You Computer uses high GPU so a simple powersave can affect the GPU Performance

You can follow these two step
1. Set the power settings to high performance
2. Configure Nvidia Control Panel's "Power management mode" from Adaptive to Maximum Performance - see guide here

Hope this helps,
Cheers!!

Hello, I have a lenovo z580 with an nvidea gt 630m 2gb. I accidentally dropped my laptop, and now the screen is broken. I can still see a bit, but not much. I was wondering if it was possible to connect it to an external monitor (18,5 inch, but the same resolution as my laptop) using a VGA cable? My laptop has a place where I can enter the VGA cable (15 pin port). I would just like to know if it is possible before I buy the monitor.

Answer:Lenovo z580 external monitor

Get yourself or borrow a 15 pin vga cable and try it on your hd tv, lots of them have the 15 pin connector also. John.

I recently installed windows 10 as part of Microsoft free upgrade process.
My laptop takes an age - minutes - to start up.
I ran CCleaner and Slimcleaner. It helped somewhat but the start up is still annoyingly slow.
Please help.

Good Afternoon, I am a proud owner of a Lenovo Z580, until this recent week. For the past week or two, the computer will randomly freeze up and display different bars of alternative grey, black, and white pixels. The only thing I can do is hold the power button to do an force shutdown, but once I try to boot it up again, only the power LED (as well as the Volume Up, Down, Mute, Theater, and Dust Removal LEDs) light up. Nothing else, no backlight or screen. Lenovo Z5802.5 GhZ processor8 GB of RAMIntegrated Graphics750TB HD Steps I've tried: Reinstalling graphics drivers and resetting back to factory settings. I've attached some screenshots belowhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/5d89ue1oyyvtpvf/IMG_20131108_163054.jpg (Most recent) (Now it's not even booting back up....) https://www.dropbox.com/s/ou77705p2kkli84/2013-11-05%2021.18.49.jpg (BSOD, which went away after a reboot and some time) https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jhy6qrn8vbzk9o/2013-11-06%2018.37.17.jpg (The bars have purple and there are green specks all over the monitor) My warranty doesn't expire till the 21st, so I'm wondering what I should do. Thanks in advance,-Mario

Hello I have purchased new Laptop z580.It cames with Windows 8..I want to install Windows 7. But unable to install it... I have set Admin Password and then disable Secure Boot.and in a Boot Menu I have set type to Legacy..from UEFI somethingThen I have again one more Option Like Boot Prioritty : in which UEFI Support and Legacy Support Which I have to choose. When I select Legacy Support in Both then try to install Windows 7. but I am getting error like Unable to install Windows on selected Partition.  "windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."  Can anyone suggest right steps to do that.? I have taken recovery of Windows 8 to USB. and I don't want to temper with the Recovery..How to install Windows 7 into Lenovo Z580?

Answer:lenovo Z580 install windows 7

Hello and welcome,

You are probably getting that message because you are running the install in legacy mode but the the HDD is GPT partitioned.

You could boot in UEFI mode (not secure boot) and run the install.

You can run the install as you are in legacy mode but drop to DISKPART and convert the drive to MBR. It might also be sufficient to just select the advanced partitioning options and remove all the partitions.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-cannot-be-install...

Either way you'll lose the on-disk recovery options.  Don't lose that USB drive.

Now, I know there are like, 4 similar posts, however I've tried all of the solutions. I'm trying to boot from a chrome OS boot usb that I know works. I know I'm on secure boot and legacy is off so I go to try and boot into uefi to change that, however whenever I do it hangs for the longest time then skips straight to the onekey recovery. Tried different ways of booting to it, nothing. Tried just booting the USB drive but of course it won't boot as I'm still on secure boot with legacy off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Z580 Boot Issue

Have you tried booting from a DVD.  If not the its easy. When the computer starts up press F10.  It will give you boot options. Select the one qith the optical drive. While installing I advise you that you should make a partition of the Hard disk.  Well do you have SSD in your laptop. If yes then how much space it provides you?  Make some research and theen use the SSD for installing Windows.  Try this thing out. Hope it will work for you.

I purchased a Z580 laptop with Windows 7. I haven't been able to really play any games on this system other than my old copy of Age of Empires II. I installed Steam and purchased Orange Box. Portal and HL2 both give me the same trouble - the start, show the start up video and then I get the blue circle and I go back to the Steam screen. I even installed Desura and same thing happens, game crashes when I try to start it. I tried running as admin, checking that the games are using the built-in NVIDIA processor. I also tried the -autoconfig option. I had antivirus on there and I removed it. Still no difference.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've used One Key to do a back up and it created lots of files - can these files (about 220 of them) be extracted/opened using something other than One Key? Thanks

Answer:One Key recovery files for Lenovo Z580

hi Stephenbtc,

AFAIK, If you have .okr or .wsi file extensions on those backup files then they can only be opened via the OneKey Recovery application as these files are encrypted by that program.

My z580 has had wireless issues for around 8 months (could sometimes take 4/5 restarts to recognise the wireless card). I bought a new wireless card, installed it whilst the computer was in sleep mode and it worked perfectly for 2 weeks before the laptop ran out of power and shut down. Upon restarting it said wireless card not supported and now I'm stuck with a laptop with no internet. From the list of whitelisted cards I can only find 2 used cards that are available to buy. Is there no way of buying these cards new? It seems ridiculous that my perfectly working card is now useless and essentially the entire laptop. I don't wan't to install a different BIOS as I would have no idea what I was doing and  the risk seems too great. Help please!

Have your bios modified. Here is the link. However you stated "I don't wan't to install a different BIOS as I would have no idea what I was doing and the risk seems too great.". But this is an option for you to consider.2. Buy a card with an fru number from Ebay. Here is a typical vendor. However, it is not a sure solution. Some say it works and some say it doesn't.3. Buy a new unit with no whitelist whatsoever to the wifi card and other replaciable components. This may sound absurd but it is still an option.

Recently whenever i hibernated or shutdown my laptop and turned it back on it started to get a black screen, you cant even see the splash screen for lenovo. It is simply black as if was still shutdown. My only solution was to disconnect everything (USB's, Headphones ect.) and then turn it on, it worked for a while but whenever i do that now i still has a black screen. The graphics card has been messing around lately with many games leaving my background green for a split second but i dont really know if that is the cause, i have used CPU Unparking in the past and it has built up lots of heat inside my laptop so maybe some of the components may have been damaged but i dont know if the components are the problem. Also considering its just a black screen on startup i cant get startup repair running. Please post your solutions!Thank you!

In your case, for #1, reinstall Intel hd xxxx driver, and for #2, the touchpad driver. Try to solve the problems one by one.

Answer:How many Partitions has a new Lenovo z580 Windows 8

HiWelcome the forumsThe reason for these many partitions is that win 8 pre-loaded systems have gpt partition. 3 are created by default for windows 8 . Then 1 recovery partition is okr backup and other is okr startup. The rest are gpt disks.Regards

Howdy y'all, So I have a Lenovo Z580. Model Name 2151. i5-3230M, 8GB RAM, 635M graphics. I also have a desktop PC with an SSD and a Lenovo Z50-70 with an SSHD.  When using this Z580, I do find the access speeds to be slow. Of course, it's only got a 5400RPM. What I'd like to do is either replace the HDD with an SSD or maybe an SSHD. I did some Googling and I have discovered that some people who have tried to do this have had issues with the drive not being recognised. Does anyone know of anything in particular drive-wise that laptop does not support? I know how to fit the drive so that isn't an issue but seems there may be some hardware it can't support? UEFI maybe? I don't know. Also, can I create a new installation disc from the Lenovo recovery partition, or would i have to buy a new Windows licence? Cheers all

What OS do you have? What is the version of OKR?

Hey all Just a question about the touchpad on the laptop I recently purchased:I noticed that the touchpad buttons were integrated to the the rest of the touchpad. Whilst I am aware that this does wonders for space, I wanted to ask if there was any way that I could reserve that area of the touchpad for just the button function? The annoyances that come from the touchpad detecting my finger on the button (as it normally is) is a lot more annoying that I thought it would be. Is there any way to customise those settings? Thanks in advance
