Preferred Solution: windows 8 cant install driver ON Z580

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: windows 8 cant install driver ON Z580

This means the some files of the previous already extracted setup are same as the one for the new setup. Thats it.For better drivers refer to the lenovo china page.\ if you are having difficulty installing from the normal us site.http://support1.lenovo.com.cn/lenovo/wsi/Modules/Driverdownload.aspx?SearchType=1&LogicType=0&Machin...

Story: my company got two Z580 for me and my collegaue. His was Windows 7 edition (Win7 sticker at the bottom), mine Windows 8 edition (Win8 sticker at the bottom). Since we use Windows 7, I had to reinstall the system (to Windows 7). Everything went fine to the point when I had to install Nvidia drivers. The installer states that I don't have compatible hardware. This is odd becuase I have also Nvidia "Geforce with CUDA" sticker, and even BIOS knows I have dual card (Optimus). Windows by itself detected Intel chip and unknown VGA one. I tried Lenovo drivers (for Nvidia) and also the ones grabbed directly from Nvidia site. Any help/hints are greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Answer:How to install Nvidia driver for Z580 (Win8 version) with Windows 7 Pro?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Try updating the chipset driver, Intel graphic driver and then the Nvidia driver. Nvidia will not get installed without the Intel graphic driver. Also make sure that switchable graphics is enabled in BIOS. Here is the link with all compatible drivers.

Please let me know, If the issue is not resolved. Also let me know is it 32-bit OS or 64-bit?

When trying to install the driver it always says "This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) WiDi or the application is in use.  Anyone able to get this to work. I wanted to play with it on my Nexus 4.

Answer:Z580 WiDi can't get the driver to install.

WiDi SetupMake sure you have all of the hard ware that supports WiDi.You must have:1. A 3rd or 4th Generation Intel Core Processor2. An Intel HD Graphic card3. An Intel Centrino Wireless Card4. IntelŪ My WiFi Technology (IntelŪ MWT) and IntelŪ Wireless Display must be pre-installed and enabled.See this list for the specific requirements:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm If you have all the hardware listed above, then, see this list:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-032474.htm Make sure you scan at the Intel driver site in IE. You have to update the following drivers to their new versions:The order of installing is important!  Start with the video card, then the PROSet/Wireless WiFi, and the last is the WiDi Version. Here are their current driver versions.Video Card ? Intel HD Graphics 3000 Version 9.17.10.2875, 10-17-2012PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software Version 15.03.1000.1637WiDi Version 3.5.41.0 If you have any problems, after you install the updated drivers, take a look at this post. Hello...    I recently tried to "upgrade" to windows 8 (I tried doing both, and upgrade and a clean install).  Almost ALL of the Windows 8 drivers, I downloaded from the Lenovo Driver Matrix do not install. I get a varying array of error messages. I also can not get the smart fan (dedusting mode) to work, One Key Theater, Dolby Audio, etc, to work. This has turned out to be a total nightmare. Where, how can I get Windows 8 driver for my Z580 that will install correctly? How, where can I get the Dolby audio and One Key theater to install and work? How do I get the dedusting mode to work? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Team     I removed my Previous Windows 7 version to install new 8.1 but i couldnt find usb driver updated enough to work with Windows 8.1  as the mentioned on Website works with Windows 7 32/64 Now i cant connect my samsung Mobile   seeking your support to provide me with updated dirver for USB 2.0 and 3.0  Best Regards

Answer:IdeaPad z580 USB Driver For Windows 8.1 64bit

Try disconnecting your device first. Uninstall the driver with the yellow mark. Reboot then try connecting your device. In Windows 8.1 usually you don't need to install the usb drivers Windows itself will provide/install the driver.

Hello I have purchased new Laptop z580.It cames with Windows 8..I want to install Windows 7. But unable to install it... I have set Admin Password and then disable Secure Boot.and in a Boot Menu I have set type to Legacy..from UEFI somethingThen I have again one more Option Like Boot Prioritty : in which UEFI Support and Legacy Support Which I have to choose. When I select Legacy Support in Both then try to install Windows 7. but I am getting error like Unable to install Windows on selected Partition.  "windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."  Can anyone suggest right steps to do that.? I have taken recovery of Windows 8 to USB. and I don't want to temper with the Recovery..How to install Windows 7 into Lenovo Z580?

Answer:lenovo Z580 install windows 7

Hello and welcome,

You are probably getting that message because you are running the install in legacy mode but the the HDD is GPT partitioned.

You could boot in UEFI mode (not secure boot) and run the install.

You can run the install as you are in legacy mode but drop to DISKPART and convert the drive to MBR. It might also be sufficient to just select the advanced partitioning options and remove all the partitions.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-cannot-be-install...

Either way you'll lose the on-disk recovery options.  Don't lose that USB drive.

I bought a ideapad z580 3 months ago and thought of upgrading to windows 8 (64bit). it was a pain. finally i had to revert to windows 7 because of driver installation errors & missing drivers. Can somebody tell me why i got these errors (i did a clean install of the os & tried running setup with admin privileges)realtek driver - No driver supported in this driver packagecamera -the setup program for the target device is not foundnvidia-unable to execute the command linetouchpad-setup asked for 64bit exe error also i got 'target device not found' & 'unable to execute the command line' errors for wireless, intel managment driver, vga driveronly chipset and energy management drivers installed properly.   I called lenovo chat support team & they helped me with installing driver by browsing the path in devmgmt.msc..thats not the normal way to install a driver. You click on a setup & it should install. Also i dont get to see 'Lenovo OneKey theatre' software on 'Other Softwares' category.I should call these as buggy drivers for windows 8 and dono why lenovo is pushing it to the support site. Ideapad Z580 users please try installing win8 in a virtual machine before upgrading your pc.am so frustated. spent more than 4 hours on Upgrade & still achieved nothing.

You can use the OS drop-down to limit the display to Win7x64 drivers to see what's available. The chipset driver *may* address a couple of your listed items. The others may require deeper digging.

HI all, I have a Z580 and it was working fine until yesterday. My mic does not work with the Realtek drivers anymore. I've isolated the problem and I am pretty sure the issue is from the Realtek drivers. However I need the Realtek driver for Dolby V4 to work.  Here's a break down of my problem.Realtek Hd settings does  detect my mic however it only registers a sound when I click the remote.( I use a headphones with remote and mic)I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers but that did not help. I completely removed Realtek Hd settings and the mic started working flawlessly again. Can anyone help me?   z580Windows 8

Open your Drive "C:" under My Computer then go to

And inside PCEE4 there should be a Dolby home theater v4

Answer:i have a ideapad z580 . i want clean install windows 7 ultimate 64bit . my disk must be gpt or mbr ?

In general, if uefi is enable the disk can be formatted as gpt style partition disk. If uefi is disable the disk can be formatted as an mbr partition style disk. The Win 7 64 bit installer can install Windows in a gpt style disk.

Hello NikosGr, Windows 8 is still a new Operating System, therefore glitches still need to be worked out in future updates. Make sure to go to Lenovo's support website and see if there are any drivers for those devices for Windows 8. Try the Windows 7 drivers too as some of those will work with Windows 8. As for the Broadcom card being slow, they are decent cards, but not the best. I've had issues with mine when I first got my laptop. Hope that helps.

Hello, I've installed Windows 8.1 x64 on my Lenovo Ideapad Z580 laptop.I encountered that my USB 3.0 devices won't be recognized or are performing on USB 2.0 speed. I've installed the following drivers, but this doesn't fix the problem. - Intel Chipset Driver;- Intel Management Engine Interface;- Intel Rapid Storage technology;- Nvidia Video Driver;- Realtek Audio Driver;- Realtek Card Reader Driver;- Synaptics Touchpad Driver. I've found the USB 3.0 driver but this is only for Windows 7 x86 and x64 systems. This driver is not compatable with my system. Also in Device Manager there is one device what won't be recognized. (I gues the USB 3.0 driver)Windows Update also can't find it. Please help?

Answer:Z580 USB 3.0 Driver

The usb 3.0 driver are provided by the OS (true for Win 8/8.1). If you find them not working perhaps a reinstallation is in order. How? Open device manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Delete the list one by one. Then reboot. The OS will reinstall them. For USB 3 there should be in the list USB Root HUB (xHCI) and USB 3.0 xTensible Host Controller.

My Ideapad Z580 is almost 2 years old and, after progressing from Win 8 to Win 8.1, has picked up more than a few irritating habits, so I think it's high time I updated a few drivers. I thought I might start with the Wi-Fi one shown below but, looking at my device manager network entry, I'm not at all confident that the download is relevant for me and I'm thinking that, if I suck it and see, I might screw up my system. Or am I looking in the wrong place? Any advice gratefully received.

Please have a look through the driver listings on your machine's support pages:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z580
You can narrow the listing to WLAN with the dropdown selector to see what's available for your OS version.

Hi All, I have just upgraded my Z580 from 8.0 to 8.1 (x64) and everything is working except the camera (webcam). It was working fine in Windows 8.  If I look in the device manager I see "Access is denied" error message on the driver. every time I install the EasyCamera software (chincony - 64 bit windows 8.1) it fails with an unspecified error "setup failed".  It then tells me to plug in the camera, it then says "are you sure uninstall the camera driver" - I say yes and the uninstaller fails with an "uninstall driver fail" message.  I have also tried saying no to hte uninstaller option but to no avail.  Here is what I have tried: The following drivers0mca09w81.exethe Z380Z480Z580.....exe drivers from the chinese sitethe original Windows 8.0 drivers in d:\driversthe 32bit version of the driver With each driver above I have tried: Removed device from device manager, uninstalled webcam software, rebooted, reran the driver installer - FAILAs Above and run the installer as "administrator" - FAILAs Above but set the installer to compatability mode (Windows 7) - FAIL I know for sure that the camera is fine,  the wires are sound etc.  One minute it was working - upgrade to 8.1 and it stopped........... This is a driver installer issue but I am not sure how to proceed.  I have considered tracing the installer to see the registry keys it tries and changing the permissions on these I have also considered changing... So I just recently bought a Lenovo Z580 i7 with windows 8 pre installed on it. My touchpad scrolling works for a little while whenever i restart my computer, but then it just stops working completely which is really frustrating. I've uninstalled and reintalled the synaptics driver multiple times, but the same problem keeps reoccuring. Anyone having the same issues/ have figured out a solution? Help please! this issue is making me hate switching over from my macbook.

Answer:Lenovo z580 touchpad driver problems.

Did you install the drivers from your D drive or did you download them from lenovo's site? I had the same or similar problem on my y580 and I just kept trying different places to get the drivers until I got one that works well. Still haven't gotten the two finger tap for right click to work quite right yet though. Online you're looking for synaptics toupad drivers for your Z580

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my Z580 laptop keeps crashing.  When it crashes the first thing that happens is the Wifi disconnects then a couple of minutes later the screen freezes and the entire laptop is unresponsive.   When in aeroplane mode the computer never crashes when connected to network via ethernet card, but it would be helpful to get Wifi working correctly.  According to windows 10 I have the latest driver.  Can anyone advise the best driver to use, where to download it and the version number.   Help please!

Hello, I've been having a couple of problems with my WiFi and thought I'd look for an updated driver. The trouble is, when I go to the Lenovo support site, there is nothing for the Broadcom wifi card :-S Details are:Device Manager name: Broadcom 802.11n Network AdapterHardware Ids: ....     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4&REV_01     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_028000     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_0280 So I think that means the broadcom device ID is 4727. Can anyone shed any light please? Thanks,Bri.

It goes like this . when I first receive my t61 there was a vista installation and turbo me worked. I downgraded to XP and then I didn't use turbomem. about half a year ago I tried running windows 7 beta and one of the turbo memory drivers worked but didn't operate the Readyboost or ready drive but only I was able to see the IMD-0 in the disk management so I mounted the IMD as a drive and run manually the ready boost on that drive.   I installed a newer version of windows 7 (Build 7600) and I tried that newer turbo mem drivers and the older drivers nothing works ! When I install the driver my comp crashed because ianvstor.  That happens everytime IM trying to install the driver. I tried installing vista SP2 and the same thing happens.  I think my turbo mem chip is burned or something. I also tried to replace hard drives and it didn't works.it's really annoying that I have a component on the computer which I payed for it and it doesn't work.i really hope this forum can help me to solve the problem. i was going throw all the posts in google about turbo mem and none of them have my problem which I can't even install the driver.

Hello:I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my Lenovo U530.  I was able to get all my drivers installed, except for the touchpad.  The version I used was to05wb from the USA Support Website.  The touchpad is responsive, but without the Elan, Synaptics driver, I am unable to use touch gestures on the touchpad. When I try to install it, the files are unpacked and the installer is launched.  But the installer then dies without installing any drivers. Have already done a clean restart to install process twice, so not interested in trying that again.  Please let me know if there are generic drivers for Elan, Synaptics or other Lenovo machines that work on this laptop. Background of install:Windows 8.1 from MS downloads,All windows recommended and critical updates. From Lenovo:me03wb (Intel Management Engine)ch03wb  (Intel Chipset)au04wb  (Realtek Audio)cr02wb  (Realtek Card Reader)wwe3078e (Lenovo Energy management)From nvidia:352.86-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whqlNo other drivers installed.  Everthing else was default from Windows or Windows Update.

hi karthi2lenovo,

Welcome to the Forums.

If the conexant audio drivers from the lenovo website doesn't detect the device, can you try to:
1. Open Device Manager (press Winkey+R > type devmgmt.msc)
2. On the device manager, open Sound, video, and game controllers and Other Devices then check the status (if there's a yellow exclamation mark, error codes, etc.)
3. As an alternative, try this conexant driver from station-drivers:

Conexant High Definition Smart Audio

I am trying to work out a silent driver install for the Intel Chipset drivers, but one of the problems is dialog boxes pop up asking for files from the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD. These files are already in c:\windows\system32\drivers and c:\windows\system32 and having to type in the path and hit enter is not what I want at all.

Example: "The file pci.sys on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed."
It is already in c:\windows\system32\drivers.

Anyone know of a fix for this? Why is it not finding the files that are already there?

I have tried my Google-fu at this for 2 days before asking and cannot find anything other than "Type the stuff in and click the button." This is not acceptable for a silent install that I am doing.

Answer:Windows XP Driver Install - Missing Windows files during silent install

I could be far off the mark here, but I thought I'd throw it out. I take it that by the time the drivers are being installed, the core OS has already been installed and running. Having said that, are the two paths you mentioned:

c:\windows\system32\drivers and c:\windows\system32

listed in the PATH section of the Environment Variables (accessible when you right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced Tab, Environment Variables button)?

Hello. I have an Ideapad Z580. Formerly I had W8 installed and now I have 8.1. In both operation systems, I get an error message about my camera. It says ''Please connect a camera to get started'', that is it does not recognize it. And I believe it is all about the driver. See the pictures below. http://i40.tinypic.com/2m76vqx.png http://i43.tinypic.com/2v1ulxw.png After saying ''checking application profile'', it shuts itself down instantly. No other driver is broken like this, they finish. But this one is always cut in half. How can I get a proper driver of camera for W8.1? Thank you! http://i39.tinypic.com/nv7fcw.png

I saw an update for my Ideapad Z580 Nvidia GT635M graphic card on nvidea website is it okay if update from there and will it cause any malfunction to the graphic when i install it?

Answer:Graphic card/Driver update question for Z580

hi ron153,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If you have the Lenovo Z580 with Intel HD Graphics + Nvidia GT635m, it is recommended that you install the graphics driver from the Lenovo site as these drivers are customized and certified for the Nvidia Optimus Technology (Intel HD + Nvidia graphics switching).

Although getting the latest drivers from the Nvidia website would be a good step, there's no guarantee that all features will work (like graphics switching between Intel and Nvidia) as the drivers are not customized to the design of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (in some cases, you may get an error No Suitable Graphics Device Found).

Hope this helps.

Hello there, 3 days after receiving my z580 (win7, i5 3210, 630m) i'm still fighting it. While tshooting an earlier issue i accidentally got rid of all the partitions in the hard drive, and now i can't use my wireless card (which i know was at least detecting my neighbors signals with the original OS). I think that just prior to deleting the original partitions i had used the function keys to disable the wireless card, and somehow that seems to have triggered a hardware switch which i can't seem to find a way to turn back on.I imagine that installing the osd/hotkey driver should restore that functionality but after trying everything in the z580 downloads page both for win7 and 8, plus some other possibly older lenovo hotkey drivers, i'm still without luck. I really miss the days when hardware switches were actual hardware switches.Thoughts?

I am setting up this laptop for a family member. It came with win8, but I put in a new ssd and installed win7 pro ( I am tech support and I hate win8 and don't know it well enough to take care of the inevitible support issues). I downloaded all the appropriate drivers from the Lenovo website for the correct version of windows and this machine. Everything seemed to work fine. Then, for quite a while, when I booted the machine it would start up with the energy management software, or the keyboard, or the one touch keys and/or the touchpad, or all of the above, not working. Or the touchpad would eventually work, but with almost no functionality and the synaptics setup tab showing only a patent, and no options for tweaking the touchpad. And the Fn F6 buttons might show the icon for the touchpad being shut off, but is was not. I uninstalled, reinstalled, tried different versions, eventually I thought I had it beat. I could boot the machine and everything actually works. Until today. After several reboots the keyboard and touchpad were refusing to work. Then after several more boots, the keyboard worked, but not the TP. Then the TP would work, but with limited functionality. A few more reboots and the TP is working as it should. I thought maybe having my corded mouse plugged in when booting might be confusing it somehow, but unplugging it and several reboots later there was no joy. Other times it lit right up with the mouse plugged in and the TP worked as i... Read more

Hi With Windows 10 looming I bought a new SSD to install onto.In the meantime I installed the existing win 8 until Win 10 was available, no problem there. When I installed Win 10 on the new SSD (clean install because Samsung migration doesnt work with Win 10) I cannot access the Bios via F2 I know there are a lot of threads on this and have gone through them (tried fn F2 boot up etc etc) but cannot get F2 backI have tried the Restart under Windows Recovery Settings and restart to change UEFI to no avail.Sometimes F12 doesnt work and can only get this back doing the restart under recovery settings Has there been a solution to this yet? I looked at the bios update but reports Rom equal or older than install (or something like) and so will not flash, presume up to date.

Hello there!
Okay I have a problem that I can't seem to solve.
I bought a new computer that did not come with a operating system.
So I set up windows 7 64bit. All that went smoothly.
Then when it came to driver installation the problems came.
The computer has no CD drive, so I cant install it from the cds I got with it.
Tried with wired internet connection, nothing. Missing driver
Tried putting the driver for the Ethernet thingy on an usb. Computer did not find the USB drive. Tried all ports on the machine.
Sooo, I basically need to get internet into the computer so I can setup the rest of the drivers.
Tried a wireless WiFi USB stick, but again, the computer does not find the USB's.
BUT it did find my wireless keyboard and mouse assembly? Weird.
Cannot seem to get the computer to recognize a usb memory stick.
Any ideas guys and girls?
Thanks in advance!

I've performed a clean install of Windows 7 on my X300 (6476CTO).  I downloaded and installed the Fingerprint Driver 5.9.2 for Windows 7 32-bit (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73583).  However, everytime I reboot I get a message that the Fingerprint Reader cannot access dll file vtapip.dll and the fingerprint registration fails.  What can I do to remedy this problem? I did notice on the readme that machines running less than the 5.6 version of the fingerprint software should upgrade to 5.6.2 before installing newer versions.  Does this include clean installs?  If so, where can I get the 5.6.2 driver?  I cannot currently locate it. Thanks,Mindy

Hi

I have just built a Windows 7 machine and am having lots of problems

I can't run windows update which outputs error messages - have followed all the fixes for this to no success

I get BSOD constantly whenever I try to do anything

The system is all new apart from the GPX card (full spec below)

AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core
Asus M5A99x motherboard
8 GB (2x4) Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey DDR3
Sapphire Radeon HD4870 1GB PCIe (moved over from old PC)
1 x OCZ Vertex II Bigfoot 120GB SSD (OS and program drive)
1 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD (file storage only)
Rane TTM57SL USB soundcard
730W BeQuiet PSU

The system is a fresh build yesterday with NOTHING installed on any of the drives apart from:

Motherboard drivers
Windows OS - 7 x64 Ultimate SP1
Windows updates (up to a point - 8 of them can't install)
Serato Scratch Live software and drivers for the TTM57SL
AVG Antivirus Free

I have attached a zip of dump file and report

Any help would be massively appreciated

One, your AVG.
I notice your AVG which is often at least a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace your AVG with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Hey,

I seem to be having an issue with the wireless on my Lenovo Ideapad Z580.

After a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate I have no wireless. The "Network Controller" controller comes up as flagged under Device Manager. Installing the wireless drivers provided from the official website doesn't help, they either tell me I don't have the correct hardware or tell me it hasn't installs and gives me the option to reinstall using recommended settings, which also doesn't help.

Any help at all would be really appreciated. Thanks.

As you can guess, during clean windows 8 install recovery partitions were deleted and Z580 doesnt boot.  BESIDES sending the laptop back to Lenovo which i last option i have. Is there anyway i can re-install the original partitions and data by placing the hard drive into another laptop and using the working Windows 8 OS to create partitions .. etc .. I know this is all over the forums but haven't found a solution post. Please re-direct me if there is an answer or reply here. Thanks in advance!

Answer:Recovery Partitions all deleted. How to re-install using another laptop? Z580

Hi RikeshPunja,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that as the clean installation is done while installing Windows 8 OS (Operating System) in Z580 Laptop the partition can be re-created if and only if recovery media is created before formatting the computer and if restored using the same recovery media, as there is no recovery media created, changing the Hard drive and installing will not work as expected.

As the title says, just wondered if theres any lenovo software the works with the z580 ? lenovo companion on windows 8 offers some stuff but its listed as u series ect ? cheers for replys inadvance, mike

Answer:(z580) Just wondered what lenovo software will work with the z580 ?

hi mikee77,

The Lenovo Z580 comes with these lenovo pre-installed apps:

Lenovo OneKey RecoveryLenovo OneKey TheaterLenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSyncLenovo Energy ManagementLenovo Companion

The Lenovo Companion is like an app store the features:

Third-Party Apps and Ads
Lenovo products, Tutorials, Application showcases, Lenovo accessories information, Lenovo Cloud, and a link to Lenovo blogs and articles

Most apps listed on the Lenovo Companion will work on the Z580 as long as it meets the system requirements (i.e. If an app is made only for Touchscreen models, then you will need to get the non-touchscreen version or if there's a Utility app that senses temperature on a specific model, make sure Z580 is on the supported models).

Click here for more information on the preloaded softwares on the Z580 and click here for more information on the Lenovo Companion.

Hope this helps.

I have wiped evrything from my z580 including the recovery partitions and made my own partition and installed windows 10. Ever since the boot up its really slow, it takes about 20 mins or more, so i force it to open recovery menu and then restart from there and it just starts in a minute...I am suspecting its occuring after faulty installing the newer BIOS from support page. There were 2 bios one was public and other was private which both were to be installed in same order, but i installed only the private bios file. Later i try to reinstall it says error 182 reading bios is earlier or same version as above.. Is there anyway to get older bios installed back? Or any other workarounds...

A Horrible end to a LONG weekend after a Sandisk extreme SSD 480GB  update on a Z580 running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium .  After a long sequence of events, I ended up with a machine that can't boot, and the screen goes blank when F2 is pressed (although the backlight stays on)  FN+F2 will turn the backlight off or on.  F2, F8 no longer works, as well as F12, NO WAY TO ACCESS BOOT MENU.  Even with the no drive, there is no error!! (it should say that the boot device wasn't found, or whatever).  It seems the BIOS was somehow changed during all this, and is now mostly dead, even though I never went into it except to detect the new SSD.  Putting back the original HDD does nothing to fix this, and the computer is unusable. I will list the events in order.  Note that at all times, I unplugged the laptop, removed the battery, etc.  The worse part in all this is that replacing the original drive did NOT bring the machine back from the dead.  This laptop is about a month old, and worked fine before all this,  URGHHH!!!!  I also did a LOT of internet research, and think this also happens to others in one form or another.  One person said pressing B during a boot would restore the BIOS, no such luck, I have tried everything! http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/z580-can-t-access-bios-setup-or-boot-menu-a... 1) Imaged the original HDD on... I have recently finished building my computer and brought a copy of windows 7 (home premium) 64bit to go with it. But when I try to install I never get past "collecting information" where I am being asked to "Select A Driver To Install" as a driver for my "DVD Device" is missing (apparently). I assumed that the driver I needed would be on my motherboard driver disk. I clicked the disk and told it to "rescan" and it only said "There's no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers". When I navigate directly to the sata, raid & ide drivers sometimes I get a: nVidia nForce Serial ATA Controller on the screen but when I click on that it says the same thing after about 10 seconds or tells me it cannot install and I need to get a new driver from my distributor (I have tried the drivers of the Asus website but the same result). What do I do?

PC:
AMD Phemon X4 965 @ 3.4ghz (black edition)
2gb RAM
250gb HD (sata)
DVD-ROM (IDE)

Note: it's brand new and doesn't have an existing windows installation.

So I bought a new laptop today, Its a lenovo U410, I tired to run in it safe mode through start/ search/msconfig --- change to safemode ---- restart.

when the computer restarted it did not load windows.

I tired to reinstall windows from a usb.

I tried the bellow steps ( i found this on this site) (no drives were found windows 7 installation)

steps Start>
1- put your win 7 dvd into the rom and boot it
2- Go to the repair option that windows 7 setup provides
3- Open the command prompt and type following commands:

i) diskpart
ii) list disk
it will show the list of your drives, with the information:
- status
- total space
- free space
status would probably be "invalid" and free space would be "0 bytes"
you have to select the drive next with

iii) sel disk <disk number>
disk number = as listed in previous command, normally 0
iv) clean
now for verification of disk status and free space type
v)list disk
the status should be "online" and free space should be "disk size"
vi)exit

I have searched all over google trying to resolve this issue and cant seem to find an answer. I have tried twice to install windows 10 using the auto update. Both times it gets to the screen where it loads files, drivers, etc. It downloads the files fine and when it gets to the "looking for drivers" part it gets to 6% and freezes. I have let it sit for over 12 hours seeing if it was just taking awhile to find them and finally gave up and let it restore windows 7.Anybody else had this issue or any suggestions on how to fix?

I am trying to prevent my computer from automatically installing drivers. I have Windows 7 Home Premium, so I don't have gpedit.msc. The option of Start --> Computers --> Properties --> System --> Advaned System Settings --> Hardware --> Windows Update Driver Settings --> "Never check for drivers when I connect a device" doesn't work either, as Windows 7 will cheerfully ignore that setting. I am somewhat unhappy with this. I also farted around in the registry editor, but I could not find the paths that the tweaking guide I was reading was telling me about. Has anybody had this particular problem?

Answer:Disable Windows Automatic Driver Install in Windows 7 Home Premium

Why are you trying to prevent drivers from being installed automatically?

My best guess is that there is a driver finding Service that can be stopped/set to manual.

Hi, I am new to this form, so I will make this quick. I have been trying to get on to a game in Korean, and at first it worked. I had use Hotspot shield for a long time, but suddenly when I went on hotspot shield, it would not work. I have found out the reason of this is lack of a tun/tap driver. Many people have said that I can get a MSVCP120.dll to get it, and to get that I needed C++ Redist 2013, which I now have, and it still wont work! I have tried things such as Hotspot shield, and OpenVPN all around the world (well, in America, since this wont work) and I cant seem to get one that is installable. I am on a x64 bit engine running Windows 7 with 8 gigs of ram, and the computer I build has very nice parts, but I finished it on 12/25/13. So, how do I fix it?
TL: DR, my Windows 7 64 bit computer cant install a TUN/TAP driver. What do I do?

My brother recently got a new PC it came with everything but drivers or an operating system, we bought him windows 10 online and downloaded it and put it on a USB to install it to his computer. However, when we tried to put it on his computer we got stuck on the select driver menu as we don't have one; we also don't know how to get one or continue the windows installation. I'm probably being stupid but I would appreciate if someone could help, when I searched this question it came up with mac books and such but the computer we are on about is not a laptop computer. If you need any information about the computer please ask and I will reply as soon as I can.

Hello All,

I am trying to reinstall my version of Windows 7 Pro x64. There is no OS listed in the system recovery tools. It tells me to "click Load Drivers and then install drivers for your hard disks".

I am not sure what driver I am supposed to have, or where to find it. My hard drive is a WD Caviar Black. Product # WD1002FAEX.

I am trying to follow a tutorial from these forums about SATA drives and installing the driver. I went to the intel download center and got the install file for the latest driver. But how am I supposed to use this file with my other computer. I cannot get into windows to install it.

So how am I supposed to install this driver? Or where do I find the current driver?

Any help would be appreciated.

Dan

Answer:Windows 7 Re-install - HD Driver?

You have the right driver, but you'll need to extract it and save it to a flash drive so you can access it during the install. However, before you do all of that, you might have something else wrong, like an incorrect BIOS setting for the controller. Intel chipsets don't need any extra drivers loaded in order to see SATA drivs.

Hello everyone,
I got a problem with AMD drivers, it won't install on Windows 8.1. After successfully installing it, the screen freezes and I can't move the mouse pointer and everything else stops working like keyboard, after restarting everything goes back and I need to install it again (which freezes all things again).
I tried downloading the latest driver (15.7) from AMD website and many other sources, still same problem. I also tried many other driver versions (15.6, 14.2, 14.7, 13.2) from different sources, still the same. Even installing it from windows update stops everything and the screen freeze.
Everything works fine on Windows 7 and the driver install just fine without freezing or other problems.
I tried an old Windows 8.1 and successfully installed the driver without freezing and everything was ok until I installed some windows updates and when I restart to install these updates, the Windows won't boot at all, it freezes on Welcome page and I can't move the mouse pointer or press anything, it just freezes.
I also downloaded windows 10 latest insider build (10240), did a clean install, installed AMD driver with success and everything was ok until it restarted to install updates and the same problem existed, it won't boot and freeze on Welcome page.
All these tries was after a clean windows installation immediately without installing anything else like antiviruses or any other apps.
So, I'm pretty sure the problem is about some recent windows updates (or maybe just ... Read more

I am having a ton of trouble trying to get my USB working.
I have an Acer v3-771g laptop with windows 7 installed on it. The USB had been working fine for over a year. But then it started acting very weird lately and so I downloaded the driver for my intel chipset from the Acer driver download site
(USB 3.0_Intel_1.0.4.220_W7x64_A)

But I can't seem to install the driver at all. I first tried to use the setup.exe that was included in the driver pack but that turned up an error saying that it was unable to install one or more drivers and it just quit. So I went to my device manager and manually deleted/uninstalled the USB/PCI controllers (Intel 7 series c216 chipset family USB enhanced host controller 1e2d and 1e26) under the USB tree. I rebooted and it still didn't do anything.
I also tried to install the USB driver via my device manager. Under the "Other devices" nodule, I saw several USB controllers, and I selected one and clicked update driver => selected browse => pointed it to the USB 3.0 folder but the system wouldn't recognize the drivers.
Please can anyone help me? Thank you

Hi, im new to the forum so i wasn't really sure where to make this thread.

I have a Toshiba Sattelite that came with a pre installed windows 8.1 and i cant stand windows 8.1 so i tried to install Windows 7, i disable secure boot and changed bios to CSM mode but when i was going to select the disk where to install windows 7 a GPT error appeared so i started to search how to convert a disk from GPT to MBR and here is where the problem begins, my laptop only has 1 disk, and it was divided in 5 partitions 2 of the OEM and one of them MSR, i was able to delete the OEM ones by using diskpart but now i have around 1 gb of unallocated space and the expand volume on the main partition is grayed out, i cant delete the MSR one because it has windows 8.1 files in it, but now i cant convert the disk to MBR because its divided in 4 different parts (but i was able to delete the 5th non OEM/MSR partition and expand the main partition afterwards, i just can expand using the OEM ones).

Oh yeah and i almost forgot my main partition is a dynamic partition...

Heres a screenshot showing my problem:

Windows language is in portuguese, sorry bout that i normally use english but this was pre installed so

Answer:Cant install Windows 7 on a Windows 8 laptop,GPT error and driver prob

You need to change that dynamic partition to basic.

I would get your data off that drive then delete it down to unallocated space, then install W7 to the entire drive, convert the drive to MBR before you start.

Do you have an activation key for 7 ?

I have a late 2012 model Z580 with an Optimus GPU setup: an nVidia 640M plus Intel HD 4000. I switch regularly between them using the "Power management options" tool depending on whether I am traveling or whether I am playing games at home. Recently I've noticed more graphical artefacts and driver-related problems with recent games, but that's because I'm using very old (17 April 2012) Optimus drivers from the Lenovo website. I see these have not been updated since I bought the laptop over a year ago. So when the nVidia control panel icon keeps flashing up a reminder to upgrade my Optimus driver, I am tempted to update it. It would no doubt fix the graphic problems I'm experiencing in games. However, I've been told by some that I should only ever use the official Lenovo Optimus drivers or I risk breaking the ability to switch between the Intel HD 4000 and the nVidia 640M. Others claim that is nonsense and it should work fine. Obviously I'm reticent to stuff things up, so could someone here please give me a straight answer? Can I use the latest nVidia Optimus drivers that are compatible with the Z580? I'd appreciate any help or advice.

So i got windows 8 on my lenovo g580 laptop but it turns out that it is not compatible with a bunch of programs that I would like to use, so I decided to go back to windows 7 like I previously had.
I got the Windows 7 upgrade advisor and it says that my Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Power Controller is not compatible with windows 7 and so I run into an error every time I try to install windows 7, does anybody know of another driver I could get or maybe some other way to solve this problem? I also heard thru other reaches of the internet that some windows 8 computers aren't compatible with windows 7 could that be the problem. Thank you for reading I really appreciate any help.

Answer:trying to install windows 7 but my driver is incompatible

If nothing else helps, install Windows 7 in virtual with VMware Player. Then you have no driver problems and you can run both systems side by side. Here is a side by side demo - it is only the other way around (8.1 on a 7 host) but that is basically the same.

How to select the driver to install windows 10 from a flash usb drive

Answer:how to select the driver to install windows 10

the flash drive must be bootable and contain a windows 10 iso.
you probably have to set your BIOS to boot from Legay mode
you may also have to set the USB as first boot device
you then power on the PC with the USB stick in one of the ports (rear ports direct off the motherboard are better).

I will be re-formatting and re-installing Windows XP onto a 500GB SATA2 hard disk. The original drive was a 160GB IDE and I decided that given that I'm re-formatting everything, I might as well re-install onto my other hard drive since it's bigger and faster.According to everything I've read, in order to load Win XP onto a SATA drive, I need to load the drivers using a 3.5" floppy disk. I have a drive available but I was wondering if it was possible to load the drivers off a usb pen drive. I presume that because there is no OS, it won't detect the USB pen.Am I correct, or is there another method that avoids using a 3.5" floppy?

Answer:Windows XP SATA driver install

You can create a slipstreamed instal disk with the sata driver integrated but if you have a floppy drive available why bother? What exactly do you have against using a floppy?Goin' Fishin' (Some day)

Hi all. i am trying to reformat and install win 7 64bit home premium on my mates pc and it doesnt allow me to install it because of the following error on the win 7 install screen:

A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disck, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.Click to expand...
I have the option to Browse, press OK or cancel.

I have been installing win 7 and in general loads of previous win 7 and i have never encountered this issue with drivers? i have even installed win 7 on a much older computer, a pentium 4 with no problem!

i dont know much about the specs but it has this mobo http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Socket_754/K8VX_SE/#download

And a AMD 3400 sepron i think its called. PLus 2gb of ram, one cd drive, one DVD drive and two hdd's(All PATA connected).

Any advice? is it really a driver issue? i thought u can install windows now and drivers later?

Where can i find drivers and for what? the dvd drive?

Please note that currently there is win7 installed on it but my mate wants a reformat and fresh install.

Any advice? As stated before, i have never come across this issue and i have been installing OS's since 3.1!!!!!!!!!

Answer:Cant install windows 7 - asks for a driver?

You get that message in Windows or did you restart the PC , put the CD in the drive, boot to set up and then are getting the message? If you are getting it in Windows, boot with the setup CD and see what happens that way.

Hi,
I just installed Windows 10 on my aging Dell Inspiron 1720 labtop. Everything worked fine but after viewing the device manager I see there is one missing driver. It's the Ricoh card reader driver I believe. I went to Dell, typed in my Service Tag, and found a driver under the "chipset" category. I tried to install it but it says I need a 64 bit driver.

Here is the info:
Base System Device
Device Instance Path: PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_01F21028&REV_12\4&1237F73F&0&0BF0
Location: PCI bus 3, device 1, function 3

Others must have encountered the same issue. How do I fix this?

Thanks for your time and consideration.

-Kris
