I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Z580 windows 8 WIFI, BT

You must install the Windows 7 version of Lenovo Energy Manager for wifi or bluetooth to work. The Windows 8 version does not allow you to use fn+f5. Once you install the Windows 7 version, you can push fn+f5 and activate wifi or bluetooth. There will be compatibility warnings, but it is the only way to turn on wifi and bluetooth at this time. Do not reinstall the Windows 8 version until Lenovo updates the software, because you will eventually lose wifi or bluetooth again. Also, you may need to use a program like Universal Extractor for the install files to extract properly. I hope this helps. It took me lots of searching to find someone who figured this out.

Hi there, I recently got the Z580 and since I've had it, there have been problems with connectivity. The main problem is that it disconnects after going to sleep, as well as sometimes not connecting automatically when I turn it on. When either of these things happen, it won't connect at all (even with troubleshooting - windows thinks it's a problem with the router but it definitely isn't) until I restart the laptop, and sometimes I have to do this twice. I have already changed the power settings on the network adaptors to prevent them from turning themselves off in sleep mode, and I've changed the roaming tendency to aggressive but it hasn't solved the problem. Any ideas? FYI, I am not very knowledgeable in this area, so I would appreciate clear instructions if any are given. Thanks very much.

Same issue that you are having,
Resolution was to disable a tray Icon,
Press Windows button + R   >to launch a run box
Type msconfig then hit enter
Go to startup tab and click on Open task manager,
You will have a list of startup items and look for Bluetooth Tray Application
right click on that and choose Disable.

Try restarting and try to trigger a sleep and see if it works.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Hi all, I am having intermittent problems with my internet connection through Wi-Fi since a windows 10 update around December 2016. My difficulty is that it seems totally sporadic with no pattern. One day I could work on my laptop for hours with no problems, but then last night yet again in a 1 hour session I had about 3 drop outs where I get the ?Connected, No Internet? message in the Wi-Fi window. So my Wi-Fi is still connected, but websites fail to load etc. In order to remedy the problem i have to disconnect from the wifi signal and connect again. I have tried many things to solve the problem with no luck. Contacted ISP as my problems seemed to start when I moved to fibre optic broadband. But they sent me a whole new router, this did not solve the problem. Also, I don?t seem to have a problem with Wi-Fi on any other device in my house. My router can transmit 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz so I split them out to their own SSIDs as the Z580 cannot receive 5Ghz. This slightly improved things but I still get the drop outs.I tried a clean install of Windows 10 and wiped my laptop. I thought the problem was solved by this as I didn?t get any drop outs for a week or so. But sure enough over the past couple of days the random drop outs have started again.Don?t really know what else to try, quite frustrating! Can anyone suggest any steps?

Answer:ideapad z580 wifi not working properly with windows 8

hi yashikabajaj08,

Welcome to the Forums.

You're issue might be similar to this thread.

If you have gotten the problem after updating the wireless driver either from the Intel website or windows update, try to  rollback the driver from the previous version or perform a System Restore to undo the changes that were made.

If the above doesn't apply to you, can you provide the wireless driver of your wifi module and try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking to isolate if there's a third party security software that might be blocking your connection.

Let me know your findings,

Hey guys, I have seen a lot of members in this forum having trouble to get wifi and bluetooth working in windows 8. I found a solution to make everything work smoothly. Using windows 7 version of energy management and crap is not at all required. Just follow these steps. Before you begin installing windows, download all latest drivers from lenovo US site. Download touchpad and onekey theatre drivers from lenovo china site. Now, switch ON both wifi and bluetooth. If you keep them switched off, windows 8 will never recorgnise the presence of your bluetooth chip. Do not use windows 8 pro volume licence ISO. Instead use windows 8 pro ISO, which you downloaded from win 8 upgrade assistant (assuming you chose digital download option). This ISO has WiFi drivers needed for Z580(broadcom chip). Perform a clean install, not upgrade. Now install all the drivers, you don't have to restart for every driver install. Restart once after everything is installed. Now, you may face WiFi limited connectivity issue. Just head over to Wireless adapter properties and rollback driver. That wil solve limited connectivity problem. Done. Now enjoy windows 8.  One thing I failed to solve is, the battery meter in windows 8 does not show how many hours of battery is left. If anyone knows a fix to this, please let me know.

Hello TvakilThanks for using the Lenovo forums. Are you certain the unit is compatible with win 10?

From the looks of it, there is not even win 10 drivers available for the unit,

You can double check the compatibility on this sheet/post:

I would suggest reverting back the previous Windows.

Answer:Wifi and bluetooth is not working after upgarding windows 7 home basic to windows 8,,Z580

Hi hemantrocks1990,

First lets check if the drivers for the Wifi and Bluetooth is installed properly under the Windows 8 environment.  On the desktop press the windows key + c, then click on settings, then click on control panel.  Under control panel switch to large icons for view and go to system.  Under system we will have device manager available.

Please check if you can see the category Bluetooth, and the wireless adapter under Network adapters category.  If they are present, go to the properties of wireless adapter and check if the driver version is the latest and if the drivers are installed properly.  The latest Bluetooth driver version for Windows 8 is 12.0.0.1671/8.0.0.206 released 10/24/2012. Here is the link for the drivers.  The latest Wireless driver version for Windows 8 15.5.0.42/6.30.59.26/10.0.0.67 released 10/24/2012. Here is the link for the drivers.

If the drivers are installed properly, then we have to check if we are able to turn on and off the bluetooth or the wireless adapter.  Hit Fn+F5 and see if an interface comes up that gives you radio buttons to turn off or turn on your wireless and bluetooth adapters.  If no interface comes up, you may need to install the Lenovo Energy Management program to enable the hotkeys for turning on bluetooth and the wireless. Here is the link for the Lenovo Energy Management program.

Answer:Hey I have a WiFi adapter (Intel n 2200) problem on z580 windows 8 x64

hi aborida,

If this is the original Intel Wireless N2200 that came with the PC, can you try to:

1. Reboot the computer and repeatedly tap F2 to boot into the BIOS, when you're in, press F9 to load BIOS to defaults and press F10 to save and exti BIOS.

2. If you get the same error, try to Access the Startup Settings and choose Disable driver signature enforcement - if this fixes the problem, it's probably due to a not digitally signed driver, try to follow this guide.

If the above steps doesn't work, the BIOS might be blacklisting this wifi adapter as discussed in this thread or simply getting defective (you will need to contact lenovo for service to get this wifi card replaced).

Hope this helps.

Question: Z580 and 5G WiFi

I have an IdeaPad Z580.  The spec sheet said it had an intel Wifi card that supports dual band WiFi but it actually has a Broadcom card that is single band.  Both Leneovo and the supplier refuse to talk to me so I am left having to buy a card myself.  Problem is that the BIOS seems to be locked down to disable cards that are not on an allowed list but I can't find a definitive list of what works. 1. Can anybody tell me what dual band cards are compatible?2. Am I right in thinking I need a dual band card with Bluetooth as well?3. In particular do you know if the following card works:Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 6235ANHMW Bluetooth 4.0 WIFI Half MINI PCI-E Card.

Answer:Z580 and 5G WiFi

First thing is what Wi-Fi card do you have? Also do you have a separate bluetooth module or your bluetooth is already integrated to the Wi-Fi card. The Wi-Fi cards that you buy at online stores are usually generic and not OEM branded. You need to find the OEM branded Wi-Fi card with FRU P/N number so that the BIOS will allow it to function. If you have a separate bluetooth module, then you will only need a dual band Wi-Fi card without the bluetooth: Try to purchase this one and see if it works: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205FRU P/N: 60Y3253http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=lenovo+6205&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nk... If your original Wi-Fi card has integrated bluetooth then purchase the 6235 Lenovo version:FRU P/N: 04W3777http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Intel-Centrino-Advanced-N-6235-6235anhmw-04W3777-for-Lenovo-Thinkpad-/32... Honestly, I don't know if both cards will work, but the only way is to try. There's a much higher chance that the Lenovo versions of these cards will work though.

Hello,My new Lenovo Z580 runs windows 8 64bit, core i3 3rd gen, 4gb RAM.The problem is, since day 1,every few minutes the internet stops working. It shows as connected, the router is working, other connected devices run as intended and everything's fine. But internet doesn't work on my laptop. It says "Could not connect to the network". I have tried doing the "keep wifi on during sleep" etc. but nothing works. It just stops working after a while even though I am using the laptop, it just suddenly stops. It even shows as connected, and packets are being received but internet or any application over the internet will not work untill I disconnect and reconnect. Why does this happen? Any solutions?Thank you.

Answer:Z580 WiFi not working

If you're using the Intel Centrino N2230 wireless adapter, try to update drivers from the intel website:

Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 8* (install this first)
Intel® PROSet/Wireless Bluetooth Software for Windows 8*

After installing the drivers, disable the bluetooth when using wifi to prevent the connection from dropping and observe.

If you have a Broadcom/Atheros card, check this thread and try the script made by cbautis2 to refresh the winsock and TCP ip configurations of your PC or you can type the following on a command prompt, reboot the computer and observe:

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset

Let me know your findings

Answer:Z580 wifi problems

hi mohamedsamy10,

The new driver from the Intel Website probably has compatibility issues with your router that's why you're getting No internet Access. Have you tried to rollback the driver from the previous version?

Upon checking the spare parts, you have the Intel Wireless 2200N single band card which is capable of connecting up to 300Mbps, If you have a dual band router, you may need to configure it to work with single band wifi cards. Try also to disable any firewall / security software that might be conflicting with the connection/

Hope this helps

Question: Z580 WiFi Problems

My Z580 suddenly won't connect to the wifi network in my home. Every other device in the house connects no problem. I've had this problem before; last time I found that going into my PC settings to switch off the WiFi and switch it on again worked, as opposed to simply toggling Airplane Mode. This time I've done that multiple times. I've also restarted the router multiple times, disabled and reenabled the network adapter in the Device Manager, forgotten the network and logged on as new, toggled airplane mode. Uninstalling/resinstalling drivers for the Network Adapter seemed to work for about a minute. That's the most success I've had.

Question: Z580 wifi problems

Hello, I am having issue with my Z580 which has lost all wifi.  When I hover over the wifi icon, it no longer allows me to see any wifi connections, which I know are there as other phones and laptops are connected.  I would appear that the wifi has completely stopped.  This happened a few months back and I was just about to return the PC to where I bought it from and the wifi started working again! If I run the diagnostics everything is apparently running ok but still no wifi.... Any help appreciated, maybe this time it will need returning but its a 4 hour return trip to do so... Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You cannot just buy any wifi adaptor it has to be on lenovo wifi whitelist or it will not work, i remmeber a z580 owner a few weeks ago asking this question he had a broadcom wifi adaptor 72mbps max is approx 8MB/s The service manual only mentions a few other wifi cards, not much of a choice. John.

Hi! I've had a Z580 - Windows8,i5,6Gb RAM for about 12 months from new. I couldn't work with Windows8 so I rolled the OS back to Windows7 Home Ed 64-bit but my key wouldn't work so I bought a Windows7 Professional 64-bit and installed that. So far so good. Everything fires up and works ok,except I cannot use the internet. The Qualcom Atheros AR9485WB-EG is up and ok in device manager and the adapter connects to my router but there appears to be no internet data flow. The Wireless Network Adapter Status dialogue shows that I am sending and receiving bits, but not enough to prevent even the internet explorer startup page loading. I'm using ESET virus protection and that has never been a problem previously and there is no change when that is disabled.   I've tried the latest device drivers from the Lenovo site as well as older ones which are known to work on Windows7. Also tried moving Windows Boot Manager down the priority list on BOIS startup. Anybody got any ideas that don't invole bigger hammers or pyrotechnics??

Answer:Z580 WiFi Problems (again)

Solved my own problem . I had to do a completely clean install of Windows7 and install all of the drivers again.  The Lenovo driver for the Z580 didn't work but  wlan156w81.exe for the Flex 10 (Atheros 10.0.0.274_Broadcom 6.30.223.181) worked. I got to it via aa link from the website driveridentifier.com after doing a search on Google of the Hardware ID. Moral of the story - keep trying

Question: Z580 wifi problems

Hi,I have been having these WiFi issues with my Z580.I had the motherboard as well as the screen replaced a month ago from an authorized Lenovo service center. However, after the replacement my laptop is unable to detect WiFi signals unless I am sitting right beside the router.I tried installing the required drivers for my Broadcom wlan adapter but to no avail. Is an issue with the WiFi antenna which is somewhere behind the screen.I guess they might not have been fixed appropriately when the screen was being replaced!I am using Windows 7 Home basic edition on a 64 bit system. The WiFi signals used to be excellent until I got the motherboard and screen replaced!

Answer:Z580 wifi problems

Answer:Z580 wifi problems

It seems that the antenna wire has either not been connected with the WLAN card properly or the wire has been damaged completely. The best solution is to ship it back to service centre so that they replace the whole unit.

I'm using my Z580 for few days on Windows7 Ultimate (x64).When my computer is idle, or not heavy loaded, my WiFi connection is stable. When I try to open an application that loads my computer a bit (in my case I wanted to play World of Warcraft on medium details), my WiFI connection starts to fail and eventually my computer closes WiFi connection with the router. When only I'll turn off the game, everything goes back to normal. Same problem noticed on another games, basically on applications that use GPU much.Tried to reinstall WiFi drivers, didnt helped. Currently I'm installing another copy of WIndows, but loosing my hope. I have turned off every single "power saving" option that I've found (im running my laptop on charger most of time anyway), but it's still the same. Any suggestions or solutions for problems like that? I would be happy if that is some fancy software problem, not happy with sending it back to the warranty service - in general I would be very unhappy that hardware I've bought isn't reliable. Kind regards.

Answer:[Z580] WiFi turning off

It's possible that the router isn't giving higher priority and bandwidth to your laptop thus making you drop connection. Go to your router and turn on QoS. (note that not all routers support QoS) Then add your application and set the priority to high. An example would be something like this: Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Answer:New z580 with Win 8 Wifi not working properly

Hello and welcome,

What wireless mode are you using (g or n)? and what encryption mode?

This is a real long shot, but I've seen it lately on a couple of new laptops.  The router is set for WEP security, but allowing the laptops to hook up in n mode.  This is not supposed to be allowed per the n specs.

It can lead to a flaky connection.

Not saying this is your issue - just one thing to check.

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please have a look through the driver listings on your machine's support pages:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z580
You can narrow the listing to WLAN with the dropdown selector to see what's available for your OS version.

Hi all, I have just done a full clean install of windows 8 on my z580.   I have now managed to get everything installed and working normally except that my wifi card does not detect any networks. I know that the router is fine as other devices in my house can detect them but I cannot. I have made sure that the WLAN is enabled in the BIOS and the windows device manager says that my card is working normally. I just cant see any networks.  The really confusing thing is that I have tried using a seperate USB wifi adapter and had exactly the same problem - seems to be working but no networks.  I had been attempting to roll back to windows 7 but couldnt do it so went back to 8, but in the process I made a bit of a mess of things. I deleted all the partitions, including the OEM and system reserved partitions. I realise I probably shouldn't have done this but its done now. Could this be related to the problem? Many thanks in advance.Tom

Hello, I am new to this forum and have just recently bought my Lenovo laptop Z580. I updated to Windows 7 ultimate and everything seems working but I am having wireless connectivity issues. I have a good signal, I can connect to wifi and I don´t experience any internet cuts, however my download speed suddenly drops down, websites are loading slowly as well. Then I run a windows built-in diagnostic tool for wireless and it resolves it automatically: It resets the wireless network adapter and verifies if the network adapter configuration problem is resolved and that´s it. It shows at the end that I had problems with wireless adapter or access point and that it is fixed. The speed is OK, fast download, everything seems to be working. However the problem occurs again and again. And although Windows automatically resolves it, it is just a very short term solution.I have AR9285 wireless adapter, I tried to update the driver from the official website - no luck. I tried to uninstall the driver completely and install again the one that I have on my: /D hard drive - nothing changed. I have also tried to change my router channels from 6 to 11 and to 1 but no luck. Can you please advise me on this matter?Thank you!

Hi, I am having a weird wifi issue. I have been using my lenovo z580 with windows 8 for the past 8 months without any problem. But suddenly a week back my laptop's wifi started disconnecting after 5-10 mins of usage. Then if i reboot my laptop the wifi works for 5-10 mins again and disconnects. I have gone through some of the posts here and disabled the Bluetooth tray application, updated LEM, wifi drivers, but still i cant fix the issue. I have found a temporary solution. If i put my laptop into sleep mode and bring it back again, the wifi starts working. but again it will work for only 10 mins. apparently i am having to do this fix every 10 mins which is annoying. I even tried reinstalling windows 8 but still there has been no improvement. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening? do i have to go to the service center to replace any hardware?

Hello, fellow Lenovo users, i have a serious and reoccuring wifi problem with my z580 equipped with Broadcom 802.11 n and windows 8.1. I know many of you had the limited connection problem, and I read many forums and supposed solutions, but I think my situation is even worse if possible.  Although the connection is regularly lost, (limited) when i disconnect and reconnect, a massive freeze happens, the sreen stops, the mouse is not moving neither. Afterward, sometimes the system comes back alive. However, even if it does, no wifi is avaiable as no adapter is recognised as installed.Several restart can cure it for some minutes, than the whole procedure starts over. On linux, no such problem occured, thus I assume it is a driver problem. This is very frustrating, please help me if you have any idea. What I tried so far: reinstall the adapter from the lenovo sitereinstall it by windows updatemanually installing the broadcom multiband drivermanually installing the broadcom drivermanually installing the microsoft driverswithing of the adapter sleeping function paland3

Answer:z580 - WiFi not working after being connected!!

hi Freshoutoflife,

Welcome to the Forums.

It's possible that you have a security software / firewall that's blocking internet access or it can be a problem with Winsock (this is the programming interface and supporting program that handles input/output requests for Internet applications in a Windows).

Can you try these steps:
1. Open a command prompt as administrator then type the following:

ipconfig /releaseipconfig /flushdnsnetsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset

When finished, restart the machine and observe (this resets the TCP/IP connection protocol used by Windows).

2. If same problem, uninstall the wireless adapter from the Device Manager (don't delete the driver) then reboot to refresh the wireless adapter settings.

I bought a lenovo ideapad z580 back in 2012 with windows 8 pre-installed.  After a few months of using it, it would have problems with the wifi turning limited. I've put up with the problem for a year and a half now... restarting the computer has always been able to fix it, until yesterday when I would restart it and it would still say that it was limited and wouldn't allow me to go on wifi.  The computer has windows 8.1 installed now, and I've tried quite a few things including not letting windows disable wifi to save power, and I've also gone back to an older driver which some people have found helpful... anyways if someone could help me that would be amazing!! Thanks xD

I recently bought an Ideapad Z580 since school is starting up very soon. It has been working very well for me and I've been very pleased, that is until about a week ago. My wireless was working fine before then but now every time it connects, it can't go 30 seconds without dropping my connection. After dropping it, it will pick it back up in about 15 seconds or so. It's extremely annoying and makes my product nearly useless for me. I know it's not my router or my internet, because my brothers laptop connects (and stays connected) perfectly fine. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me because I desperately need this fixed for school! Thanks!

The trouble is, when I go to the Lenovo support site, there is nothing for the Broadcom wifi card :-S Details are:Device Manager name: Broadcom 802.11n Network AdapterHardware Ids: ....     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4&REV_01     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_028000     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_0280 So I think that means the broadcom device ID is 4727. Can anyone shed any light please? Thanks,Bri.

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my Z580 laptop keeps crashing.  When it crashes the first thing that happens is the Wifi disconnects then a couple of minutes later the screen freezes and the entire laptop is unresponsive.   When in aeroplane mode the computer never crashes when connected to network via ethernet card, but it would be helpful to get Wifi working correctly.  According to windows 10 I have the latest driver.  Can anyone advise the best driver to use, where to download it and the version number.   Help please!

I have a Z580 ideapad.  Does the WiFi support 5Ghz?  I do not see the 5Ghz signal from my router.

Answer:Soes the Z580 WiFi support 5Ghz?

Well, isn't the answer obvious then? If you're still in doubts, then the easiest way to find it out for sure is to go to device manager, find out what wireless card your laptop has, google for it and check its specs. GL!Also, AFAIK, y580 doesn't have dual-band wifi card, and I think that z580 isn't any better in this way.

I have the P580. I thought it was my house's internet! (I rent).I lose internet, then uninterrupted wifi for 30 min to 2 hours, then lose signal again for anywhere from 5 to 30 min. Never over 30 min with no signal, though. (BTW, just today my laptop refused to power on. This is about 2 months after the wifi problem started. So.... you've been warned.)

My z580 constantly loses connectivity to the network ever since I updated to 8.1.  I never had a problem before the update, but now it constantly loses the identification, unprovoked.  Usually, it doesn't reconnect itself automatically, despite the connect automatically box being checked..  I often have to run the troubleshooter to fix the problem, which succeeds in fixing the problem - the message I get is a problem with the default gateway.  However, it is completely out of control and annoying to be constantly running the troubleshooter or having to go in and reconnect when I've done nothing to warrant losing the connection to begin with.

Answer:Z580 keeps losing wifi connection since updating to 8.1

Hi, Pretty sure I have solved this problem - one that has plagued me for almost a year  - like yourself, I have a z580.  Try this.  Go to device manager and click on the network adapter (centrino wireless n 2200 - aka "culprit").  Then go to file menu "Action", choose Properties and then choose the tab "Power Management" - here you need to UNcheck the box that says "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power".  Seems pretty darn obvious so I'm not sure why Lenovo Tech Support has been so lame with finding this and giving people a break.  This adapter issue can cost them tons of losses via negative word of mouth for their brand.  In any case, I hope this solves your problem, so far it has solved mine.  I'm also not able to find a way to let EVERYONE with this problem know this solution.  Very unfortunate but I'll keep looking to find a way to get this information out.  Only found it today after months of dealing with this issue myself.  Let me know if it helps?

Hello. There is something wrong with my WiFi, everytime I try to use my internet connection to ie. load YouTube movie or any page it takes ages to do so. I have to HLSW installed, it has function to show latency on your connection, whenever I don't do anything it stays around 15-20ms, but strange thing happens if I try to do anything at all that requires internet connection, even loading simple page takes it up to 1500-2000ms. Oh, and there are more CPUs in home network and they are working fine, so it's not internet provider issue. I wasn't like that from beginning, it started couple of days ago, tried reinstalling drivers couple times, tried looking for solution here, couldn't find any, do any of you have any idea what should I do to fix it?

The issue is that the latest Win8.1 drivers on Lenovo support site for that model date back to 2013!!! Do you know if any NDIS 6.4 WiFi (broadcom) drivers exist for that model?BTW... I installed LSB from the support website but it does absolutely nothing gets stuck at 10%Thanks in advance.

These are the cards you can upgrade to, although there isn't any A capabilities in any one of them. so you won't be able to use your AC Router, and connect to the 5Ghz band.

HI After having problems connecting to wifi from my new Z580 laptop, this now works if I move the laptop near to my router. However, every other device I have (including my old laptop) works from everywhere in the house. I have read some forum topics on this, for example looked at removing Bluetooth from start up, but it doesn't show up in the startup menu (accessed from task bar?) anyway for me. The machine is running on windows 8. There doesn't seem to be one definitive tutorial on a solution, so would be grateful if someone could get back to me who has the knowledge of how to fix this. As soon as I take the laptop into another room the signal goes. I haven't done any updates of drivers etc. yet as saw a post where someone was advised to revert an update. Confused with all the mixed messages. Is there a definitive answer please???? It would help anyone in the future with this problem. Many thanks in advance

I have a Lenovo Z580 (i3-2370M) with an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2200 wireless adapter running on Windows 10. I have been having an obnoxious problem where WiFi becomes unresponsive when the laptop is moved, the screen is bumped, or a some combination of motion. There is no way to fix this problem without doing a hard reboot. Disabling and enabling the adapter does not work. I have tried this from the command line as well. If I attempt to shut down, the screen goes black, but the shutdown never completes and a hard shutdown is needed. I understand that this problem occurs when the adapter wires are jostled. I have taped them down more but the problem persists. While curing the problem outright would be nice (new hardware), I would like to have a way to reset the wireless adapter and necessary services in order to restore the wifi connection without a reboot. The problem seems to be that a hang occurs and the process refuses to shut down and is stuck waiting for some sort of reply. This problem was also present on Windows 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

what you're experiencing is that the card is not on the BIOS "whitelist". the only way to have the card work in your machine is with an unofficially modified BIOS. this is not generally recommended and would likely void your machine's warranty. i'm sure this is not what you wanted to learn... sorry.

I have just bought the laptop and I have a few questions and problems.  My Problem: The laptop will not detect a wireless connection for some reason as in the icon in the bottom right corner for network connections displays a red x.  1. Checked fn +f5 and there is no connection displayed there2. Restarted laptop, didn't fix it3. Tried installing WLAN drivers from the support page and restarted the laptop with no luck. I think there is no WLAN Adapter. The only adapter it has in device manager is the PCI Family Controller. Do you have any advice?   Also,  My laptop has 2 graphics cards apparently. One is the IntelHD 4000 and the other is the Nvidia GT 630M. Why does the IntelHD 4000 graphics card display in DxDiag where as the nvidia one does not? Both cards are present, however, when checking device manager.  Thanks for the help. I hope I can get a fast reply as I may have to return it within 2 weeks.  Thanks.

I have a new Z580 running Windows 8. It frequently looses connection to my Comcast wireless router. (My other Toshiba laptop never looses connection, so I don't think it's a router problem.) When this occurs, the wifi status indicator in the system tray (the little triangular signal icon) is grayed out and has a snowflake or asterisk above it. If I right click the icon and select troubleshoot/repair, the system indeed runs diagnostics and repairs the connection. Wifi works for some time (a day, a few hours, more/less ...) and then fails again. I saw through Google that people have experienced this with Windows 7 and Lenovo ReadyComm. Uninstalling ReadyComm seemed to solve their problem. But I do not see ReadyComm with my Win8 system. Please, any suggestions?

Answer:Z580 running Win8 - Wifi adapter must be reset frequently

By the way, I have already reloaded the wifi adapter driver as advised by Lenovo.

Hi All -I recently bought a new laptop, a Lenovo Ideapad Z580. It works wonderfully (although I will admit I'm not a fan of windows 8). Problem is, I always seem to have problems connecting to my home wifi connection. Before it worked perfectly, but now I've been having problems with it, seemingly out of nowhere. All the other tablets, phones, laptops and computers at home connect to the network just fine. My laptop will detect the home network go on an endless loop of "identifying," followed by "cannot connect to network", followed by "identifying" yet again.Keep in mind though, if I connect to the wifi on campus, or at starbucks or anywhere else it works perfectly. It's JUST my home network and I can't quite put my finger on it considering that all other devices at home work fine.I updated my drivers, restarted my drivers, ran a release/renew, TCP/IP reset, restarted the router, restarted my laptop, but none of these have worked. In the end, I gave up and simply plugged in an Ethernet cable in.If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know! This is getting frustrating considering my Ethernet cable is only like, 5 feet long.Greatly appreciated

hi everyone! i have well known problems with z580 wlan adapter.
with win8 and win8.1 it gives a lot of problem (continue to disconnect/reconnect/slow finding new wlan...)
i formatted and reverted to win 7 to see if the problem is still here.
it runs quite well now BUT...
at home i have 100mbit connection in download and the wlan of this pc support only 72mbit: when you go to "advance" in hardware propreties of the adapter it says that 40mhz is not supported and i read this is the cause of slow speed
so... i would like to change the wlan adapter... but obviously it must be in wthitelist on the bios...
the problem is that there is no bios download for this model!! is it possible???!???!?
and the whitelisted wlan adapter are so old that is impossible to find them to buy online...
the z580 model is the one with 4giga ram, i3 3210, nvidia gt635m
wlan adapter is: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4&REV_01 (broadcom)
anyone has ideas??? have i to replace this pc to use my wifi connection at home at full speed??? (i dont want to use an external dongle)
thanks!!

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Regards

Answer:(z580) Just wondered what lenovo software will work with the z580 ?

hi mikee77,

The Lenovo Z580 comes with these lenovo pre-installed apps:

Lenovo OneKey RecoveryLenovo OneKey TheaterLenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSyncLenovo Energy ManagementLenovo Companion

The Lenovo Companion is like an app store the features:

Third-Party Apps and Ads
Lenovo products, Tutorials, Application showcases, Lenovo accessories information, Lenovo Cloud, and a link to Lenovo blogs and articles

Most apps listed on the Lenovo Companion will work on the Z580 as long as it meets the system requirements (i.e. If an app is made only for Touchscreen models, then you will need to get the non-touchscreen version or if there's a Utility app that senses temperature on a specific model, make sure Z580 is on the supported models).

Question: Z580 Windows 8

Good Day, I see this topic has been discussed to death. But would appreciate fresh input on the topic.I made a big mistake buying my lenovo z580 with windows 8. Thinking I can load it with windos 7 and later restore windows 8 i found out to late that the partions should NOT be formated and there is no recovery disks given (i formated it in the first 2 min after i bought it). I have hower backed up all the files and software on the partions. e.g LrsEsp.okrWinre.okr is there a way to rebuild the windows okr images into a iso DVD for reload?I also tried to take a normal ISO DVD of windows 8 and reload it, but it seems the embeded key will not work with any version of windows 8 64x other then the embbed version which has no ISO. please help / advice. really want to get win8 back on

Answer:z580 windows 7 64-bit

hi nufcbailey,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

If you also have the Liteon WB225 BGN+BT HMC WLAN Card WCBN608AH-L6 (p5), can you try to install this driver:
- Wireless LAN Driver (CyberTan/Broadcom, Liteon/Atheros)

If you have a different wireless card, check this driver along with a list of its supported devices:
- Wireless LAN Driver (Intel, Cybertan, Liteon)

Hey All This is my 1st post here.. I have Z580 laptop with One Key Recovery Option... I have dual boot in it - Windows 7 Home Basic and WIndows Server 2008 R2 I want to create a back up image file of both at the same time, using One Key Recovery, so that I can restore back in future, if need be 1. So, I will log in to, say, WIndows 7 and take the back up image.. Will that take an image for both OS at the same time? Basic question here is does it image of the Hard disk or each OS.. 2. Or do I have to take a separate image of both after logging into respective OS? 3. If answer to 1 is YES, will that restore both the systems at the same time in future using the One Key Recovery solution? 4. If the answer to 2 is YES, can i restore both the systems individually just by using the One Key Recovery solution? Br, Ajay Maheshwari

Hi,I have IdeaPad Z580 purchased with windows 8 working fine for one year. Recently I upgraded to windows 8.1 Everything except bluetooth works fine. For bluetooth I receive following driver error: qualcomm atheros ar3011 bluetooth 3.0Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) I tried various options including driver uninstall and then reinstall. It installs a generic driver. Then I tried updating it from local hard disk. It does not work. Then I again uninstalled and tried updating from Internet, It does something and then again gives same error. Finally I'm unable to use my BlueTooth. Please advises/help.

I?m sorry to hear that the Fn+F5 to enable the Wireless in your Z580 is not working, the function keys will start to work if the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) is installed in the computer and as the LEM is not available for this model and will be released soon and will be updated in the below link:

I've been using WIndows 8 on my Z580 since a month now (the lappy is 4 months old) and recently i noticed the bottom part, just below the touchpad gets a little too warm for my liking, didnt know if it has been happening since beforeI do keep my lappy ON most of the time and its connected to AC power but Energy Managemet is configured to charge partiallyHappens on Ubuntu 12.10 tooThe fan at the left seems to be OK, not much heatAm i having overheating issues ???!!!!!Also, my hardisk stats from task manager show that its active at 100% sometimes, even though i'm not using anythingI checked, Connectify Dispatch is writing something to "C:\$LogFile (NTFS Volume Log)", which uses most of the harddiskIt happens at any random time, when i just exit a game, boot up the system, or even browse web and close ChromeAny suggestions ??Thank you

Hello Yesterday I've got myself a brand new z580. I picked the version with no system, as I already own a copy of Win8.Everything installed properly, but I'm having one extremely annoying problem that practically prevents me from using this laptop. I mean wireless internet... It connected without any problems just after the installation of Win8. Though after literally few minutes I ended up with the limited connectivity problem. I disconnected from the wireless network and connected again and it worked... for another 10-15 minutes. And it's happening all the time. I've been struggling with this problem since yesterday, so here are the things I've already tried:-installing WLAN drivers for Win8 from Lenovo - I get the message that "The setup program for the target device is not found",-downloading all important updates from Windows Update,-installing the chinese Lenovo drivers as I've seen it mentioned on these forums,-disabling IPv6 (through regedit),-disabling the IP Helper service,-disabling the option to let the system turn off the device to save power,-installing drivers for the WLAN from Windows Update. NONE of the above worked. I'm quite sure it's not the router problem, since the internet works perfectly fine on other 3 computers at home (one is XP and 2 are Win7). I'm totally clueless here and extremely annoyed because I actually can't use my new laptop due to this issue... I'd probably consider using Win7 instead, though my main cau... Read more

Answer:Yet another problem with z580 on Windows 8

Unfortunately this sounds like the same problem we are all experiencing.  There is no fix and the work around is to roll back the drivers.  It is not possible to get power management and wifi working together.  So if you need wifi then you need to eliminate the power management. See http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8/S205-Windows-8-wireless-problem/td-p/884375
