I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Z580 Card Reader Driver dosen't work in windows 8.1

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Try this.........

1. Uninstall the card reader driver.

2. Insert a memory card into the card reader and ignore any notifications about driver not being installed.

3, Install the Lenovo version of the card reader driver while the memory card is still in the reader.

Answer:Z580 SD Card Reader

hi luke93,

Welcome to the Forums

Just to verify, aren't you also not able to see the SDHC Card under Disk Management (press Winkey+R > type diskmgmt.msc) or via diskpart? (open command prompt as admin > type diskpart > type list disk).?

If you don't, it's most likely due to the SD Card reader not supporing SDHC type - see this pdf data sheet for more info.

Hi guys, as with most people on this forum I would guess that my arrival is in the same nature. I have a problem, and I need help. And while most people will also have read the same topics as me regarding this problem (that seems to be quite frequent), I have yet to find a solution. So, my problem is I bought this laptop 3 days ago as it has "1GB dedicated graphics" which based on a search of the Lenovo website was an Nvidia GT635m graphics card, happy with this, I bought the laptop. I have since received the laptop and I can only find Intel 4000HD graphics available and unfortunately they just do not cut it. That said, I have read this forum (and many others) And here is what I have tried:- I have updated all my drivers based on what I could find on the Lenovo support website. Including Chipset, Management Engine and Intel VGA- I have TRIED to install Nvidia Optimus and GT635m graphics drivers. Which would not allow following error; "Graphics driver could not find compatible hardware"- Following another forum suggestion I read I tried looking at the BIOS to ensure Optimus was enabled as the graphics device only to find that there was no Optimus or Graphics Device option in the BIOS at all. And with that I have read all that I think is relevant and now I'm starting to think that the Lenovo I've bought does not have the Nvidia graphics set that I thought when I purchased and I may have spent a lot of money for something that will not do the job for me. Does anyone... I have run an Astra32 check and it showed no Nvidia GPU, could my model not have it? When advertised it said it came with 1GB dedicated Graphics, a read of the Lenovo website said it was the Nvidia GT635M GPU, but it is not detected. Where am I going wrong?

Hey everyone. I am having trouble with my Multi-Card Reader/SD Card Reader. I am trying to take pictures off of my SD card and put them on my computer. I have lost my USB cord for the camera and can't locate it at this time or I would do that.

So anyway, I put the card in the SD card drive and the green light does not come on. I then open up My Computer and the drive isn't even listed. I checked in Device Manager as well and as far as I know, it is not listed in there either. If it is, then it is under a name that I don't recognize.

So anyway, I would greatly appreciate some help in getting my computer to recognize my Multi-Card Reader/SD Card Reader.

Also, I tried these things from my Standard Account.

Answer:SD Card reader problem with Windows 7

Insert the card and in control panel open autoplay. Check the box is ticked for Use AutoPlay for all media and devices and at the bottom check that the card is showing under devices. If changing settings there doesn't make any difference there is a tab that you can reset defaults.

Recently installed Windows 7 on a Dell Latidude XT2
Everything seems to work except for the SD card reader.
I installed every driver I could find, updated the Bios also, but no change.
In device driver there is one issue still, "Other devices 5880"
It might be the card reader, but the provided driver from Lite On (R220860.zip) is not possible to install.....
Anybody have a solution for this ?

EDIT:
The 5880 was for the fingerprint reader, found that one.
Now I don't have any issues in the device manager at all !
But still nothing happens when I insert a SD card in the slot.....

Answer:XT2 Latitude, card reader problem in Windows 7

I had a similar problem. It appears that when running on battery and the Power plan is "Extended Batery Life" the Card Reader is disabled. This can be corrected easily by changing the Power plan settings (in Windows 7: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options -> Select a plan and choose "Change Settings -> Change advanced power settings -> Dell enhanced settings -> Media cards and 1394 devices). Let's hope it works for you as well.

Can anyone please help.

On my computer I have 2 memory card readers.
I tried using one of them but it wouldn't work. When I looking in My Computer it shows that Windows XP (Media Edition) isn't seeing them.

Windows used to see them but suddenly have vanished.

Does anyone know how to make Windows see them again without having to reinstall Windows.

They were originally lettered as Drives D & E which are now missing.

All help is much appreciated.

It says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" I also checked and installed realtek card reader driver on http://support.lenovo.com/en/en/downloads/ds037806 but it has only windows 8.1 version. In properties on devices status, it shows this message "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed." Sometimes, this card reader is working but many times not. Thank you for any help

Hi Natta,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As per the support site, there is no drivers available for windows 10 yet. However I would suggest you to downgrade to windows 8.1 and try installing the driver. Click here for Realtek Card reader Driver.

Please refer to this link for better understanding.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Ok...so it started out with the built in and external media card reader. since about 4 months ago, everyone in a while the computer would restart once I put a media card on the 8-in-1 media card reader (I have two...internal and external) and it would restart. but since it was very rare, I didn't care. Now for the past week, my computer restarts itself every time I put a card in, and about once everyday regardless. I've tried unplugging the external card reader, but nothing happened. Once the computer has restarted, a windows error message comes up (see attached) today, I pressed "send report" and Microsoft said there was a RAM error. They made me download a win diagnosis's test and it said my ram was fine. then the computer restarted, and I pressed "send report" and Microsoft said it was a driver error. so using common sence I went to gateway and downloaded and re-installed the driver for my card reader, and yet still nothing happened.

Please note that I will not reinstall windows as this is unnecessary, and I have waaaaaay too many delicate files to watch after in the event of reinstalling everything. I seriously doubt that I have a virus or anything, as I have five firewalls, including hardware firewalls. I have purposely installed key loggers in the past and they have been gone forever, but I had them to recover my typing in the event that I accidentally close out of my browser and loose my email messages. now with more secure and reli... Hi!

There is some trouble with the builtin card reader in my A300-1NO. If I put an SD card into it (SD or SDHC), it wants to recognize the cards as XD memory cards. So in the Device Manager window is a "Ricoh xD-Picture Card Disk Device" appearing now, with a yellow exclamation mark, and the card is not appearing as drive at all.
With Memory Sticks there is no problem, the reader handles them with almost no trouble.

I did try to reinstall the drivers by executing the setup "Card Reader Ricoh", which is downloadable from the toshiba website, but it didn't help.

So what's next?

Answer:Satellite A300-1NO - Card reader and SD memory card problem

Hi!

Have you removed the old driver before you installed the newer one?
And can you format the SD cards using the Toshiba SD memory utility?

Normally the card reader should be able to read SD cards and SDHC cards too. Did you try cards from different manufactures?
I use SanDisk Extreme III cards and don?t have problem with these cards.

Bye

Hi, I hadn't used my DVD reader for a while as of earlier, but when I did it failed to play some of my DVDs. Some played fine, but for most, all it did was whirr loudly and fail to read. It didn't even register there was anything in the drive. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? I tried running the fixit here, but it didn't wotk. I tried gently cleaning inside the tray (it was very dusty), and the lens but this didn't work and I'm a bit worried this damaged it.  Any suggestions? Or should I just get a new external drive. Thanks.

Another is to ripped it so that you play it in your unit (but be careful about the copyright violation) without the dvd.

I have aLexmark memory card reader that I use with my memomry cards for my digital cameras. I just bought a new M 1G FujiFilm xD card. It said on the package that it is compatible with most cameras, and I didn't give it much thought since I have a Fuji camera.

Well, today I put the card in the reader and it won't read the card. Is there a way to chance properties of the reader so it can read it, or do I need a newer memory card reader because of the new "M" thing? If I need a new one, does anyone have any suggestions on which readers work with the newer cards? Thanks

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Did you try more than one 32GB card?  I'm wondering if the problem occurs with more than one card if the reader doesn't have limitation on the size cards it can read.  If it is just one  card having the problem, it might be a compatibility problem with that brand of memory card and the reader.

Microsoft assured me that my Windows 7 laptop (Latitude E6510) was ready to upgrade to Windows 10.  In a way, it was... but only after I upgraded did I see Dell's caution that this model was not verified to work 100% with Windows 10.
Almost everything works (sound didn't work initially, but I found a fix online that helped), but clearly new drivers are required which recognize and drive the PC Card reader, the SD card reader, and even the CD/DVD drive.  The CD drive won't even open when pressed, nor is it recognized as a drive by Windows 10.
Yes, these inputs can all be accessed via external USB drives,  but please provide new drivers, Dell.  For those with this model on the fence about upgrading, determine how much you need these built-in readers/drive!

Answer:Latitude E6510: Windows 10 works, but not CD/PC card/SD card reader

I've just upgraded my Latitude E6510 to windows 10. Most of the drivers refuse to run as they cant recognise W10 OS. I suggest anyone thinking of the upgrade not to at this stage. The Dell Driver downloads area warns of this.
Right now I have a non working keyboard, mouse pad, backlight. My biggest concern is the Nvidea graphics drivers wont install so I have fuzzy text with some of my programs (not all).
I am surprised MS allowed me to download W10?? I'm going to waste another day trying to fix this up or I'm going to have to reinstall W7. Very unproductive-not happy

Oke problem I have:

I got a sigma mcr 100 card reader 2 card(2in1), this works fine on a windows Me, but this does not work on a winXP or win2000(needs to work under 2000).

When i plug it in, it windows finds a mass storage device, and i get 2 extra partitions in windows explorer(like it thould be). but then, when i insert a card, i can't access it. All i see is an empty card and can't write to it.
Also i don't see it in device manager. I only see my hard drives/cd-rom stations.
Shouldn't this be there aswel?

Any help is welcome , this card reader is from a friend and they use win2000 on there laptop(winMe on destop). So it works perfect on the desktop(winMe) but not on the laptop or any of my comps with winXP.

Answer:Card reader problem

Could it be a difference between USB1.1 and USB2.0?
The cardreaders should manifest themselves as extra hard-disks, NOT partitions.
In W2K you must Unplug/Eject first before you take it out again. In XP you can plug/unplug at will, don't know about ME.
In W2K, check that the motherboard USB-drivers are properly loaded, as well as the motherboard-chipset drivers (e.g. VIA all-in-one).

I have a card reader (actually 2) that I use to place the smartmedia card into in order to download the pics to my computer. The one I had been using (PNY Technologies) was working fine and then all of a sudden...nothing! I would plug it in and the computer recognized it but nothing ever came up on the screen again. I tried plugging in my husbands Olympus Camedia card reader and the computer recognized it but when I put in the smartmedia card.....again - Nada!
I have searched for answers but none yet that have corrected the problem.

I have uninstalled each one from the Device Manager, shut down the computer, rebooted, and then plugged the card reader in again. XP recognizes it and tells me it is ready to use. I put in the media card and ..... same thing...Nothing!

What do I need to do to get the card reader working again?? I don't understand why it was working one minute and then 5 minutes later - it isn't!!

Thanks for any help with this problem,

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies... I am using an HP a1700n with Vista Home Premium. I cannot for the life of me figure out why my SD card reader will not read any cards. All of my drivers are up-to-date (I believe... I'm not sure exactly which device I am looking for in device manager). I would hate to have to buy an external card reader when I have a 9-in-1 built-in... and assuming I did, if this is a Vista problem, no guarantee even that would work. Any suggestions?

Hello all,

I'm having a small problem with my Mom's Dell computer and a USB card reader. The first time I plugged in the reader, it was recognized and functioned properly... but now I can't get the system to recognize that the reader has been disconnected. ( In the device manager, under "USB mass storage device", there is that wicked little yellow excamation point!)

According to the device manager, the card reader is still connected, even though it is not. It says that it has been "configured for safe removal", and all I need to do is unplug it and connect it again... but I cannot get the system to recognize that the reader has been unplugged.

Any help on this one is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi there, I hope i posted on the correct tab ^_^

anyway I have bought a new all-in-one card reader to read my MMC and MicroSD.
upon buying it, they tested it over their test area, and it worked. when I got home, it doesn't work. it just keeps on blinking, computer detects the hardware, but not the card itself. I tried it on other computers and laptops and it reads in just a snap.

So what could be the problem of my PC that it won't read my card reader?

Answer:Card Reader Problem

Does Win7 install the driver for the reader? Check your Device Manager after unhiding all devices on View tab.

Try another USB port.

Are you having other problems with Win7? Is this a clean install, in place upgrade or factory preinstall?

Hi to all! I have a w500 and many problems with its integrated card reader. It seems that there is a mechanical problem from the start, because I must press SD card a little in order to get power and show up in my computer. Maybe the pins do not make contact with SD. Of course there is no problem with the card itself, and I have tested a Transcend 2GB SD, 4GB SDHC (Apacer) and a 8GB SDHC (Apacer), all without working in normal locking place. What should I do?

I had the exact same problem. They had to replace the system board to fix it, as it's integrated. (I have a w510, not sure if the w500 is much different).Basically -- call support.

Hi, so my father was using a Windows 7 machine, and with this PC he would use a verbatim 15in1 reader. When he would insert his card, Windows would allow him to automatically move any picture and video files to a specific sub folder on his hard drive and also label each file with the current date.

Now he's on Windows 10 and using the built in reader on the XPS 8700 I upgraded him to, but he is unable to get the same results on this PC. Even when using the verbatim reader it still does nothing when he inserts his card and he had to manually move the files in explorer, and is limited to one folder that Windows selected, even though he wants the location to default to a sub folder.

Any recommendations?

Also, another problem that's happening is that he is unable to right click on file explorer without the cursor giving him the blue circle of death.

I ran SFC /scannow in an elevated command prompt but it came back clean. This makes the PC almost unusable as right clicking on explorer is needed.

Any help is appreciated.

I have just installed a new card reader but an error keeps coming up which says 'Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)' I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still does it. Please help!

You could try to enable at least one COM port in the basic input/output system (BIOS) so that the Serial.sys file can load properly.

Hi all, As the latest addition to my growing list of computer problems, I am now having trouble with my card reader. It is a 23-in-1 reader and usb 2.0 hub built into one unit. Unfortunately, I can't find a manufacturer's name for it anywhere, but it's the same device as in this Ebay auction: click hereFor a start, it wont recognise as a usb 2.0 device. It flashes on for a second then cuts out and shows up in device manager as 'unknown device'. I've installed the supplied drivers but it's still not happy. If I put it into my USB1 port, it recognises the device fine but it wont read my Kingston 512mb SD card (from my digital camera) even though it's got no problems with reading my SanDisk 512mb Compact Flash card. I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2 installed. Can anyone help?

Answer:Card reader problem

ps: the USB 2.0 ports on my computer are through a PCI card, but they're all showing up as working fine and other devices work ok when I plug them in. The USB1 ports are on my motherboard and also work fine with all my other devices.

Hello,Last night I wanted to transfer photos from my Sony camcorder and took the MS Pro Duo card out and stuck it in my IdeaPad 530's card reader. It says it reads MS cards from Sony. It went all the way in without any resistance. Now, I cannot take it out. Plus, the computer does not see the card. What should I do to get the darn thing out of the card reader? Should I unscrew everything at the bottom of the computer to open it up? If I open the laptop, will I be able to access the card reader and get the card out of there? Will opening the laptop void my varranty (its 3 months old)? I appreciate any help on this matter and thanks in advance. Ahmet

Even if you can disassembly whole laptop, it will not grant you access to cardreader. To get inside cardreade you'll have to unsolder it's metal hat that hides card and ejecting mechanism inside.Seems like the only way is to send it to Lenovo...

I would be checking if your USB is working properly.

After that, check if your card reader came with any drivers.

I have been having problems in getting my internal card reader to work.
I have a HP Pavilion Media Center a1310n Desktop PC.
Windows XP Service Pack 3

I have tried HP's "Using and Troubleshooting Memory Card Readers". It's still not working. Before I buy an external card reader I want to know if there are any other solutions.

Here's a screen shot of Computer Management. I noticed that Removable storage has an X on it. Maybe fixing this could help my card reader?

I used SCM Microsystems' Diagnostic Tool to see my registered card readers installed on my computer.

Here's a screen shot of my Device Manager. I 'think' the card reader may not be installed...

Answer:Card Reader Problem

The hardware may be bad, but before you buy an external reader, check to see if an aftermarket internal reader could simply replace the one you have. I bought one for about $20, and it installed with no issues. No driver installation was necessary, it just plugged into the internal USB port on the motherboard.

Have you tried opening the case and checking to see if the card reader is plugged in ? I would assume it's standard like anything else, and not hard-soldered to the motherboard. If it is, try unplugging it, boot with it unplugged then shut down and plug it back in. See if XP "finds" it on the second restart. If it doesn't that's a pretty good indication that either the card reader is bad, or the USB port it's plugged into is bad. Many motherboards have more than one internal USB port, so there may be another option for you.

I have a Jenoptik Jenreader CompactFlash card reader. It works fine with my computer at home (Windows ME) but not with my pc at work (98SE upgraded from ordinary 98, 256MB, 6GB HD, 5 yrs old). When I plug it in Windows recognises new hardware, (although there is no green light on the reader?), searches for drivers and finds none. Jenoptik's site only had drivers for the 4-in-1 reader but I downloaded them anyway - no good. Downloaded other compatible drivers from the web - no good. Device manager shows: Other Devices - Mass Storage, with a big yellow ? with a yellow ! on top of it. Properties box says: Drivers not installed (Code 28). (Google search shows this error code as related to Windows 2000, no mention of 98). Clicking Reinstall Drivers gives same result - can't find them.Have tried plugging into both USB ports, makes no difference - both ports work because my b/b modem works in both. I inherited the card reader from a relative so don't know anything else about it. Do card readers only work with USB2 ports or shouldn't that make any difference?Other threads covering same problem all seem to deal with different cards or OS so I'm stumped. I would really rather use a card reader so the camera doesn't have to be floating around on the desk more than necessary, (as it's mine and not the firm's!), but don't want to fork out for a new one if it's my set up that can't cope. Can anyone help, please!

Answer:Card Reader Problem

>Do card readers only work with USB2 ports or shouldn't that make any difference? <No it should work on usb1.You may find that it needs some drivers, I have a gut feeling about this as I'm not sure of the win 98 connection.Perhaps others more knowledgable could clarify the situation.

Hi'a guys,

When I first boot up my pc, and insert my camera's memory card into the card reader, everything goes fine. To remove it, I use the 'remove hardware safely' option, and that's fine. But when I want to insert it at a later date, unless I have rebooted my pc, my reader wont recognise that the card is inserted. If I reboot, all is well. When I look in device manager, under "universal bus serial controllers" there is a device with the yellow exclaimation mark, which when I look at the properties I get this message "Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)" I am assuming this is my card reader drive? But I always "safely remove" my card, so I don't know what's up.

I am running Windows XP sp2, and the card reader make is apacer. This has only recently started happening, but I can't think of anything I've installed that may conflict with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, just keep it simple for this girl. Thanks...

My mum borrowed a digital camera from her workplace and I'm supposed to install the card reader so the pictures can be viewed on the computer...
The card reader is weird, and clearly designed for older machines. It takes power from the keyboard port and self connects to the printer port. Yet if I only have my printer stuck into the card reader whats-it-thingie that should enable me to use the printer simultaneously with the card reader, the card reader will get power from the printer...
The adapters for the keyboard connection are weird too... it's supposed to take power from this old thingie... huge, with five holes/spikes in a half-circle... well, my computer is newer and I have the modern keyboard slot... there is an adapter, but it doesn't work the way as described in a picture in a manual... well, I do get power from the keyboard slot and I still can use the keyboard to write this, so I guess it works, however complilcated and absurd...
The problem is when I install the driver for the reader, it says it is now installed as drive E: (it's supposed to be recognized as a removable drive when it works properly) then immediately after I click OK there's a message that it has now been installed as drive F...
Funny, though, I already have an E-drive and an F-drive, both CD-rom drives, the other is a CD-rw drive...
Then it says it can't find the Image reader and asks me if I have connected it or not. I answer Yes and it searches again and says insta... Read more

Hi. I am running Windows XP Home SP3 on a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 Gb RAM and Gigabyte EP45-UD3l mobo. Problem, my Ritmo card reader won't run. Looking at the Hardware Device Manager, there is a heading, Storage Volumes, and under this, 4 generic volumes:
USB 2.0 Card Reader SD USB Device
USB 2.0 Card Reader SM XD USB Device
USB 2.0 Card Reader CF USB Device
USB 2.0 Card Reader MS USB Device
Against each of these is a yellow triangle containing a black !
Double clicking each of these brings the message "This device cannot start (Code 10)". I have tried uninstalling the drivers, re-booting the PC to re-install the drivers but that doesn't work. Each of the drivers appears to be the most current driver for this device. I have even tried system restore to a time before this problem came up. No luck on any of these possibilities.
I would be most grateful if someone could please point me in an appropriate direction to fix this problem and get the card reader running again.

Many thanks

Answer:Card Reader problem

Power down the PC and unplug the power cord, hold the power button in for 15 seconds, then Open the PC cover and follow the data cable from the card reader to the motherboard, disconnect it, leave it disconnected, close the PC and boot into windows, shut down and open the PC and connect the cable back to the motherboard (be sure you connect it back to the same place) close the PC and boot into windows again, if it works you are done, if it does not, try another USB port on the motherboard, if no luck then the card reader is defective.

Hi I installed Windows 7 on my X41 laptop. SD card reader was installed from windows update. The problem is, that it look's like it supports SDHC cards because it reads my 16GB class 10 card, but the transfer rates are awfull. Does anybody have a newer driver for this SD reader? Looking at device manager I saw that the driver is from 2006. thank you,.

Answer:X41 card reader problem

The internal card reader always was pretty slow. Since xp, the driver has always been provided by microsoft .  There is no specific driver for that reader. The only way to speed it up is from an external card reader.  It reads and writes faster from usb than from the internal slot. I made a bootable sd card with ubuntu on it and it boots from an external reader.  It's still a little slow. The internal sd slot is also a resource hog, it takes a lot of processor to run the sd slot.

Hello,

I have a Acer Aspire E380 (heavily modified) but I still have the same motherboard and the same 9-in-one card reader that came with it. The card reader is not working... when I put a card into it, it says "Windows cannot recognize this device" and it won't work. I have rebooted and everything, and it won't work. It says it is USB, which it is, but it is connected to the motherboard USB slot.

I cannot find drivers anywhere! I have Googled it and Googled the part number and nothing. I called Acer and they said they can do nothing to help me because my warranty is finished.

Can anyone direct me to the drivers?

Here is some numbers and information:

Acer E380 machine running Windows XP SP1 32bit

The card reader part number is: CR.10400.001
Another number on the reader is: 31500123201-B

If anyone can help me at all, please help me I will appreciate it very very much. I need to get these pictures onto my computer.

Answer:Flash Card reader problem

This happens.
Re-start your computer and it should show up again.
Or unplug the reader with the computer off, then plug it back in with the computer on.

What causes this for me is forgetting to right-click on the reader in My Computer and choosing Eject before removing the card.

Hello-

I have a Delkin Devices Reader-12 and I am running Windows 2000 Professional. The product is pure plug and play- no drivers necessary for the 2000 system. The reader works fine but the problem is when I switch users or restart the computer, if there is no card in the reader the system hangs and says to please insert a disk into the Removable Disk Drive. If there is a card in the reader, it boots up just fine. Any ideas why the system is asking for a card to be inserted into the drive?????

I've run into a problem installing a PeriPower 32 in 1 internal card/reader-writer. My system runs on an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard which has a VIA KT400 chipset. It's powered by a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ CPU.

The PeriPower unit includes a card reader/writer, 2 USB ports and a FireWire port. No instructions came with the unit, and PeriPower does not list the product on its website, much less provide a user manual there. The product shown at <http://www.cancomputer.com/index.php?sku=3615> appears to be the same product other than the colour. Anitec also lists it, but without picture or specs.

The USB ports, FireWire port, and card reader have separate connection cables for motherboard headers. Both of the USB ports in the PeriPower work fine when the appropriate cable is connected to the motherboard's USB headers, but when the card reader is connected to either of the same USB headers, the system hangs at the system splash screen. The POST results do not appear.

The system doesn't get as far as loading the boot manager, much less an operating system, so I assume it's a hardware issue, not a software or OS driver issue. Is there a BIOS setting I've overlooked? Perhaps the card reader in the PeriPower is defective -- but what other possibilities exist, and how can I check them out? Unfortunately, testing the PeriPower unit on another system is not a readily-available option.

Answer:USB card reader installation problem

I note from the specs that this unit is self powered, always a bad start.

In the first instance do you have any other usb devices connected to your pc apart from the 32 in 1 card reader when your rig locks up.

The usb ports communicate with your mobo via the soutbridge. Your mobo has a Via chipset. What could be happening is that there could be some type of early conflict in between the card reader and chipset when connected though the mobos usb ports.

I appreciate that your immediate question would be ...'but it works fine when I connect the unit to the usb headers on the mobo'...I am not that knowledgeable as to how usb mobo headers interact with the hw but hopefully someone with greater insight will shed light on this aspect.

Good Luck

Hi you guys!

Ok, so I bought a card reader, it has the size of a
floppy device and it works (NOT) with a USB cable,
it's just not the regular USB but a MotherB USB with
like seven legs!

Ok, so I take off the sidecover and plug in the USB
and turn on the computer, this is where the problems
start!

Ok, so I have a female voice on startup saying
something like:

"System completed power on self test, computer
now booting from operating system"

Ok, so this time, after the card reader has been
pluged in, it says, "No keyboard detected"

It's a no name no brand no driver, card reader!

Ok, so I unplug the CR, and turn on the computer
again, and again and again, and the computer says
things like "No vga found" "No video found" "No IDE
found" and this is with no CR pluged in!

After about four or five boots, the computer
works again!

Ok, so I turn off the "halt on all errors" now it's "halt
on all errors but keyboard"

I plug in the CR again and turn on the computer, the
voice says "No keyboard detected" after that the
computer starts up in xp but with the keyboard not
working!

I'm thinking, no problem I'll use the mouse,
but the mouse ain't working either(it uses the same USB)!

*(as I am writing the above)

Ok, so at this exact point *, the computer crashes, I just don't
know it yet c... Read more

Answer:Small Card Reader, Big problem!

Anyone?

Ok, so I've found out that the CR(card reader) is working, since
it was tested in another computer.

In my computer it doesn't work!!! Could it be my mobo, a P4333?

Btw. what no# in the queue am I, the last?

I have a SanDisk USB2 Compact Flash card reader that is not aleays recognised by my PC. Initially when I plugged it into either one of the 2 USB ports on the front of my PC it was instantly recognised, more often than not now Windows tells me that it is not recognised and may be faulty. At first, I thought it was a problem with the port itself (the PC tower is new), but when I tried a game pad in the same ports there was no problem. I've since tried the reader in one of the rear USB ports and it works first time. I then tried it in the front again and it worked on two insertions before the problem re-occured. Any ideas? Also, is it ok to leave the reader plugged into the tower (rear USB port) on a permanent basis, bearing in mind I usually have to "eject" the reader first which means that it no longer appears in my computer.

Answer:USB2 Card Reader Problem

This sounds like a USB port problem. Make sure the motherboard drivers are upto date and are installed correctly. Often mobo co., will update BIOS`s to resolve this type of thing too. Updating BIOS is not recommended to amateurs unless you think you competent.Yes you can leave the reader attached. Do not disconnect it unless the machine is off or you have used the Windows utility to disconnect it.

Hi, i just added an internal usb 8 in 1 card reader to my setup, that is designed for winME that I'm running and requires no drivers. It works fine but causes a 2 minute delay to the boot process. Is that normal? Nothing is marked as wrong in device manager but it seriously slows the startup down when connected. Any advice?

For your info the pc is an old williamette p4 1.5 on an intel 850gb mobo that is not usb 2.0 capable, but the reader is supposed to be backward compatible so that shouldnt be the problem.

cheers

I have a new PC, it came 3 days ago with Vista, it also had a mem card reader drive!
When i tryed to put a 1gb or 2gb card into the drive the light comes on for 2 seconds then goes off and nothing comes onscreen! so i tryed a 256mb card and it worked!

My friend has the exact card reader but he is running XP and he has no problems at all with cards, i guess it must be vista.

I dont really want to go back to XP because i kinda like the look and performance of vista!

Im just wondering if there is any fix for this with vista?

Thanks

Answer:Multi Card Reader Problem!

do you know who made the card? they might offer a vista driver. if the card is built into the motherboard you might need to update the motherboards driver.

I am using Dell xps 8300 desktop,it came with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit preloaded.

subsequently I have upgraed to windows 8 pro 64 bit.it has 19-in-1 card reader.

I have downloaded and intalled windows 8 drivers from "dell community wiki link" by natakuc4.

The Foxconn icon manager I have downloaded and installed is version 2.2.915.108 shows in control panel programs & features as

Mutimedia card reader by fitipowder.

In device manager under disc drives,it shows as

Generic-Compact flash USB Device
Generic -MS/MS-Pro USB Device
Generic-SD/MMC USB Device
Generic-Sm/xD-Picture USB Device

All with the driver as

Driver provider -microsoft
Driver date- 21/06/2006
Driver version- 6.2.9200.16384. inf as disk.inf.

when ever I insert a card in the card reader ,it does not show in windows explorer(ie with in 'computer')

But shows in disk management with out drive letter, so I have to assign a drive letter to explore the card under
windows explorer.

I use to eject or remove this thro safe remove of usb devices after using the card reader.

The icons of card reader is not showing in windows exporer.

How to solve this issue, since i am not sure foxconn icon manager after installing is active or not.

kasinath

Answer:mutimedia card reader problem

Do not use safe eject.

its not showing up because its still waiting for you to eject the (physical) drive and not the media..

Reassign the drive letters and just pull the sd cards willy nilly...

[Edge 15 (Intel Core i3 370M, Win7 HP 64-bit) ==> CARD READER PROBLEM] Hi, I am Smokey from Germany (an "IT-Dummy!! *) and I have a problem with my recently bought new Edge. Yesterday I tried to use the built-in Card Reader for the first time. Without success. Obviously it does not work. I´ve inserted several SD or SDHC Cards, but this system "ignored" them. In the Win-Explorer also these Cards (or the Card Reader) did not appear. It appears, as if the Card Reader (yes, front bottom side, right hand) would be just a slot with nothing behind. I wonder, but from other Card Readers I am used to feel a "click", when the SD Card is right in place. Not with the Card Reader in my Edge. Could it be a Driver-Problem? What could be the reason? Can you help me out? Thanks & Regardssmokeybear  *:would you please consider my "Dummy-status" when you answer me. Otherwise it´s not unlikely, that I won´t understand you (THANK YOU!!)

Hey there! I've got a kodak 6 in 1 memory card reader. It's worked fine for a while now. About a week ago we dumped the hard drive, just due to a ton of viruses, etc...So that was said and done, and I re-installed the software for the reader. Before I just had to put my memory stick in and a windows prompt would pop up asking what I wanted to do...This time it didn't. I went to the drivers properties and changed it to prompt when I put it in, and it still didn't. I think I know how to get the pictures the other way, because I can access them...But does anyone know what I can do to get the windows prompt to pop up?

By the way, I'm running xp

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,
To use a Sim Card we need WWAN Card to be available on the system
It seems the hardware is not present in the system that is the reason you are not able to use the 3G Sim card because of that the SIM has gone inside the system , Please contact Local Lenovo Support to help you in getting the SIM out of the Slot .

Do give this a try and let us know

Hope This Helps
Cheers!!!

I have a 7-in-1 card reader attached to a USB port that until recently showed up as four removable drives. Now it doesn't show at all. I tried uninstalling in device manager and then reinstalling. I then get an error saying there is still a problem. In properties it says this - Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) - Location 0 (Flash Reader). A CD came with the hardware but is only needed for win98 or older. It had always worked fine with XP. Other USB connections like the mouse and printer are fine.

Answer:USB Card Reader Registry Problem

I never had a reply to this problem but I found a solution so I thought I'd post that incase anyone else had the same situation. After mucking about with various complicated things I hit Roll Back Driver. My Flash Reader reappeared. I think it may have been caused by a windows update or installing a creative mp3 player. Whatever caused it the solution was simple. In failed attempts to fix it I did learn a bit about the registry and services etc, so it wasn't all wasted time.

Hello. I got brand new Lenovo Z70-80 yesterday.  Today I installed Windows 10 Pro, and seems to everuthing runs just fine. Great laptop, beautifull display... Then I tried SD card reader. I hear the connect sound, it shows me SD card, i can open it, copy files, use it normal. But at some random moments it just unmounts it self, and then quickly mount it back. It takes a second to mount back sd card. Unmount and mount sound can be heard. I dont need to mount it manualy, no need to take off sd card. Under device manager:USB Controllers: Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader, Driver date 12/21/2015, Driver Version 10.0.10586.31222 When I mount sd card, it shows me SDHC card under Disk Drivers in device manager. Driver date 6/21/2006, Driver version 10.0.10586.0 I tried reinstaling card driver, but no luck.I also tried to move a little sd card when its in sd card slot, to see if it looses contact, but its not loosing it. Any suggestions? Tnx,Aleks

should I use an adopter to read memory cards on Y410?or should I put it in an order? Please help me out.

Answer:Card reader problem-Y410

I have 410 too. You do not need an adapter to read memory cards on Y410, it has a built-in reader. Just slot in, with the gold pins at the bottom, the compatible memory cards in the slots. They will be recognized as new drives in Windows explorer.

i'm using win7 64 bit system. the SD card reader doesn't work properly. when i insert the 8GB SDHC card, somtimes it can be recognized, sometimes cannot, actually , it;s really random.at first, i thought it's a hardware problem of the card reader itself, maybe poor contact...but later on i found, if i restart the system or just close the cover to make the windows sleep and open, the card will be recognized, so i think it should be of software problem i have updated the driver to the latest version, but it still keep happening......it's really weird...does anyone have the same problem with me?i really appreciate who will give me some solution.

it still works for the wifes 512mb sd card, but it keeps trying to format my 2gb card, when it was working just fine yesterday....

Answer:vista card reader problem....

Try the card in an XP system. If it works OK then discontinue using it in the Vista system until you locate and correct the source of the problem. If it doesn't work in XP either then format the thing and try again.
