Warranty for IdeaPad

Question: Warranty for IdeaPad

So before I made a post about some of my keys on my keyboard are not working, so I brought it to my local authorized Lenovo warranty service store. It turns out that I went theres for nothing since they don't deal with IDEALPAD. After that, they told me that I have to ship it, and I'm wondering if anyone got the link of where I could start this whole process. I mean its just a little issue, some of my keys aren't working e.g T,Y, backspace, 4 , and 8.I just bought it brand new from office depot about 2 months ago and its happened before and it suddenly works back again, however this issue is coming back again and its the same keys that are not working.I dont really want to ship it back but if anyone know how I can fix it, that would be great.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought Lenovo IdeaPad Y450 418956Q in Bangalore, India. I was told by the dealer that it has 3 years warranty. I wanted to confirm the same, since I didn't get any written approval for the same. Everywhere online it says 1 year warranty and the customer care just doesn't pick up the phones (waited for 30min, several times). Upgrade to Win7 is also takes ages! The website for upgrade still shows, "pending for proof of purchase". Please, someone in Lenovo, clarify the warrantly and upgrade issues for me. [Someone in Lenovo should improve the customer care in India!]

Answer:Warranty info for IdeaPad

for double check, try this and iws link.if you prompted warranty for 1 year, again, it seems you have 1 year warranty.contact your seller. about upgrading to win7, submit a request , use feedback form or contact lenovo support line via phone.( or you can wait to get a respond from any admin here )

Hello I want to buy the IDEAPAD Z50-70 (59425298) from amazon.de http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00KCJAI1A. Because I want to buy it from Greece I'm wandering if the warranty will be valid in Greece and if a problem arises will I have to send it to Germany or could I send it somewhere in Greece?

Answer:IDEAPAD Z50-70 Warranty Question

You can refer to this IWS country list for Z50-70.http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/iwslookupideaThough Greece has IWS for this machine, but I can't be sure that your device will be repaired free of charged. Most countries may need you to present documents as proof of travelling to the country prior to repair.

I am considering buying a Lenovo Ideapad Y560 from Amazon however, I live in Trinidad and would like to know if this product can be supported/ warranted in Trinidad. I have found a support phone(1-888-217-630) number in Trinidad but it does not appear to be valid as the last part of the number is only three digits long when it should be four.

Post the exact model name. Y560 is the family name, not a particular laptop model. Best regards.

Hey guys, So I recently bought the 3 year In-home Accidental Damage Protection warranty at a price of $246 for my laptop. I double-checked with the sales rep that my laptop's serial number was there, so I was buying the warranty for MY laptop. He told me that I would get an email confirming my purchase after I got off the phone with him. Now, here I am, 2 days later, and I haven't gotten an email confirming my purchase, nor does it show online when I check the warranty of my laptop that I have upgraded... It still shows my warranty expires in 315 days (standard warranty from when I bought it). I have checked my card that I used to buy the warranty, and sure enough, it has had $246 deducted from my bank account for the purchase.  Now, as you might guess, I am a little curious about this. I'm not trying to spend $246 for nothing. The rep told me that I would have 30 days to reverse the transaction if I wanted, and gave me a call reference number for that. However, I also read online on the forums here that "it takes 30 days for the warranty status of your laptop to be updated on the website". That is sketchy.  So, does anybody know anything about this? Any Lenovo staff or forum mods that can look into this for me?  Thank you in advance for any and all help.

Answer:Ideapad Y580 Warranty Question...

hello,  brought a ideapad 500 series few months back ang got the motherboard problem 2 times,  asked them to replace for one to one.  customer support center is really pathetic and very irresponsive guys, they dont call, mail to update.  they just take their own sweet time!!

when i call to call center for the update they said its all already ready and asked me to collect, but the support center guy, after waiting for 45 mins in queue, he says no, havent heard anything from the management.  really asked him who is management, the reply was lenovo management!!

why the support center doesnt work on weekends??  do expect your consumers to take half day leave just to go and wait in the support center to hear such irresponsive support / answers??

within just 3 months did 4 visits to support center and still one more time to collect that dump!

i dont want support, service, business with lenovo and just wasting my time and efforts!

much much appriciated if you pay me my laptop money.

brought this laptop by beliving my friend's suggestion that the hardware is real professionally good!  haha..

I purchased my laptop ideapad Z410 from US almost 1 year back. Now I am in India and my laptop shows a battery problem. On going to service centre they told they will not replace the battery although it is in warranty. They told that I have to take back the laptop back to US for service(They told this laptop is not sold in India). It is not possible for me to go back to US. Is there any other alternative ???

Answer:Question regarding International Warranty for Ideapad

Hi Akky1605,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that the system is having issue with Battery on your Lenovo Ideapad Z410.

May I know what the exact issue you are facing in your system?
If possible can you provide us the screenshot of the error message which you are getting? So that if the error is related to software we can try to rectify it.
The only way to get it serviced is that you have to courier the system to US and get it checked.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

I placed my purchase order of Y 460 and an additional 2-year in home NBD warranty service on Lenovo official website on Aug 18th, I got it on Aug 21st. Maybe I should say it's quickly enough. However, after I put my serial number to the lenovo website and tried to ensure my warranty status, I found my warranty will expire on 09/07/2011... I really have no any idea about how LENOVO figure this date out, but I'm pretty sure that this date is incorrect ...Does anyone meet the same problem with me ? Is there any one know how to fix it? Thanks a lot!

Answer:The warranty status about my ideapad Y460

You must contact Lenovo with your invoice to show them the exactly date you have bought your laptop. The warranty extension counts from the day you have bought your laptop.

Dear sir/madam,My laptop is Lenovo Ideapad Z510. (From Malaysia)After I used it for several months, the motherboard broke down. There's no any "power sign" passed through the motherboard. So, the service centre at Seremban replaced a motherboard for me.After I got it back, same things happened again. And again.I replaced my motherboard "3 times"!!Listen carefully, it's "3 TIMES".And everytimes I get back my laptop, all the ports besides that come along with motherboard is RUSTY.You guys replaced an old repaired motherboard??And I need to replace motherboard again and again? Are you guys kidding me??Any solution or replace new laptop?! Can replaced a new laptop?!I don't care care to pay some money again at least I don't want to experience this. I'm getting annoyed and angry!
I called to your SERVICE CENTRE. WENT over there. Called CUSTOMER HOTLINE. And whatever number you gave me, but you guys just keep replacing motherboard?! How many times do you want to replace? I'm a college student and need to use laptop everydays.
I bought your laptop because of innovation. But the more and more problems that occur just spoilt your company image.

How do I get in touch with Customer  Relations group? I have a G570 (4334) that is one month old. Sent it to repair because the Lenovo logo on the outer cover was coming off (loose on the end where the "o" is). Sent it to repair center in Grapevine with instruction in box and on repair ticket to replace the logo. Took almost 2 weeks. I just received it this morning and they ripped the logo off (bent in while removing it) and Super Glued it back on (glue all over the top with the original logo). The unit came back in far worse shape than I sent it (actually sent it in fresh out of the box condition). I called and told technical support and they said I would have to send it back. I told them that is not acceptable not is the way I received it back. talked to a Supervisor who could care less. He would file a complaint and I might get a response back in 3 -4 days. This is not the way to keep customers. I currently own 5 Thinkpads and this is not the support customers should be getting. Makes me rethink what my next laptop will be. I spent over an hour on the phone with "India" trying to get to Customer Relations and you can guess where that got me - nowhere......

Hey guys, Recently (8 hours ago) called up Lenovo and requested that they send me a replacement HDD. Since it was still under manufacturer's warranty it'd be no cost, but they had to take my credit card information in case I chose not to return the old HDD within 30 days. Went into my online account tonight to transfer some money into savings and saw a large sum missing ($145.13). It was from Lenovo. I was never told I'd be charged for anything, and this seems like an odd amount for a hold. Regardless, if there was going to be a hold on the account, they should've told me. Is this normal, or did someone at Lenovo drop the ball on this and charge me when they weren't supposed to? Seems about the right price for a 640GB Western Digital HDD. Thanks. Jonathon

My lenovo idea pad 100-15ibd ran into a problem while I was on it, not allowing me to do anything. So I turned the laptop off, and tried to turn it back on. When I did this it went into an auto repair, trying to fix disc errors. I let this run for more then 40 hours, before finally stopping it and turning the laptop off. When I did this, anytime I tried to turn the laptop on it would just sit on the Lenovo splash art, and I couldn't bring up a console with f8.

At this point I started looking up support on the forums, and found something about cutting all power, and removing the battery. To do this with my Ideapad, I had to take it apart, some. I DID break a lenovo sticker, that was hiding a screw. I assume that is how they would know if it had been opened. Cutting the power didn't work, so instead I took it to a nearby compute repair store. They told me it would likely cost more then half the laptops worth to fix, because it needed a new hard drive, and to be completely reset.

So I'm really just trying to see, if the one year warranty that IS still active, according to your website, had been fully voided; And if I'm just going to have to suck it up and drop the benjis.  Or if there is a chance that I could still have it fixed through its warranty. Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Ideapad 100-15IBD - Voided warranty?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry hear of your problem.  Most Lenovo Service Centers realize that folks will open their laptops in order to upgrade the various components.  Although opening the cover on a model like yours will void the warranty, the service center at times overlook that fact provided no damage was done.  The best I can say is contact Lenovo Support and explain the situation to them and get their opinion.  Regardless of what I write here, they will have the ultimate say as to whether the warranty is voided.  You might also check to see if there is a service center in your area where you could bring the machine in and explain the problem in person.  You can use the Service Locator below to see what is in your area......

Hi,I brought a Y550 from lenovo.com with 2 year addition upgrade warranty. While I typed in the S/N in warranty look up web page, there is no warranty information about my system. However, the option require select country and I don't see U.S in the list. Anyone have experience with ideapad warranty before? I'm worry about my 2 year additional service doesn't  exit with my system while I already got paid. thanks

Have you chosen the option "other" under the country? If you still could not get any information about your warranty status, you could call Technical Support.  They normally have a seperate system to check your warranty.

Hi!I'm trying to figure out if the 320s is included in the iws program, so I could upgrade from my good old u430.I called the Israeli Lenovo number and they said that Lenovo stopped the IWS completely, is that true? Thanks,Shlomi

Answer:IdeaPad 320s International Warranty

Hello and welcome,

I can't give you a 100% answer, but from what I can see on the support site the 320s does not have an IWS option, but other machines certainly do.

Going to SUPPORT above, entering IdeaPad 320s and then checking IWS, there is no phone list, and no offer to enter a serial number.  Doing the same thing with a Yoga 920 does produce an international contact list.  Using a ThinkPad model # asks for a SN, and will presumably offer a contact list once that's entered.

Answer:Ideapad Z510 59400180 SSD and Warranty

Hi xxlap1xx,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You warranty will not be voided with the upgrade you want.
But any Damage within the process of upgrading the parts, those Damaged parts will not be covered.
  Ex.
You replaced the CPU of the computer, During the process a plastic broke.
that plastic part will not be covered by Standard Warranty, but In the state the you replaced the CPU and you have a damaged plastic part. suddenly Your HDD Crashed while your using it, HDD replacement will still be covered but you have to give tech support a head's up about the damage plastic so it will not be questioned during repair.
But the Failed HDD issue will be covered.

I want to buy https://www.shoplenovo.co.in/ideapad-520-slim-i5-8gb-win-10-1tb-hdd-81bl0072in.html and upgrade its RAM and install an SSD. Customer support on 1800-3000-9991 and 1800-3000-8465 have told me that it has two RAM slots and it will come pre-installed with 8 GB DDR4 RAM x 1. I can just buy another 8 GB DDR4 memory stick and install it. They also said I can take out the 1 TB HDD and install an SSD up to 512 GB. BUT, they said I have to go to a service center and ask them to do it. Unfortunately, for a range of issues, I do not trust a Lenovo service center with a brand new ?65k laptop and ?15k in parts + additional cost for labor/shipping etc. If I get the RAM and SSD installed from my existing trusted and reliable computer guy (who will do it in front of me in 30 minutes and not charge thousands of rupees), will I lose my 1 year on-site and 1 year accidental damage protection warranty?

Answer:Ideapad 520 Slim warranty query

Hi Smartflight,

Greetings.

In general, upgrades should not void the warranty as long as no parts would get damaged during and after the process.
This is however different from each region.

Since it would involve opening the chassis then best to call in technical support in your location to get the tech advise regarding its relation to upgrades and warranty.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Hi,  My Ideapad 710s which is only like 8 months old is currently with Lenovo for a warranty repair.  The comma key became loose and fell off the keyboard, the little clips on the back were broken so I was wasn't able to clip it back on.  I sent it to Lenovo under my 3 year warranty and now they are refusing to fix it under the warranty.  What can I do about this?  Why would anyone break their comma key on purpose? The rest of the laptop is in perfect condition so it is clear that I have not abused the laptop, every other key is absolutely fine.  Seeing that it was simply a matter of clipping a new key on, I asked Lenovo to just post me one out and I would do it myself. They refused, and made me send it in. I did this, and now they are going to try and charge me for the postage which I didn't want to pay for anyway because the repair was so minor!!!  This will be the last Lenovo product I ever buy if they are so petty and treat their customers so badly over such a small repair that any reasonable person can see is a manufacturing fault.  I am furious about this, and hopefully you guys can give some advice.  Thanks

I'd like to purchase a refurbished Ideapad U330 and have some questions on the warranty. I've read various threads in the forums that generally state the warranty follows the laptop and not the owner, but I would like confirmation since I believe these threads were referring to ThinkPads. I may travel in the future, but this would be limited to within the United States. 1. Is there a warranty if I purchase a refurbished Ideapad U330 from Lenovo outlet? If so, how long is the warranty period and when does it start (i.e., the day of purchase or the day I receive it)? 2. I missed the opportunity to purchase a refurbished Ideapad U330 a few weeks ago and saw one reasonably priced on eBay. I read the Lenovo Limited Warranty and it states the warranty applies only to hardware purchased for personal use and not for resale. Is the warranty transferable to me if I purchase this laptop? If so, I would assume that I would only have the remainder of the original warranty balance left. Is this correct?

Hello: While I have been happy with my Yoga, the touchscreen started acting up and after several failed suggestions on software fixes, I was asked to send my laptop in for repair. It has been there since Devcember 9th, coming up on 4 weeks and several calls later, I still can't get a firm date on when they can fix the problem. The lack of communication has been frustrating. Any help escalating this repair to someone who can expedite this would be great. I leave the country for 3 weeks next Thursday and would be very hard pressed to function without my laptop. I am in Canada. Thanks. Bharat

Answer:Help: Ideapad yoga in warranty repair for 4 weeks

I'm not sure about Canada; however, in the US there seems to be a subcontractor that does the repair work (i.e. the "depot"). My experience with them matches yours that they aren't great at communicating status.Maybe try calling the depot and asking for your case to be escalated to customer care? I've done that in the US and received a callback from Lenovo customer care in a day or two. Customer care seems to be staffed with Lenovo employees and is separate from the depot. I think they have more options to help resolve issues than the depot (my personal experience is that customer care employees are nice and helpful; however, it still usually takes a couple of conversations with them before things get done but I've been happy with their resolution).

hi all i have an ideapad z410 with the following specs i7-4702MQ/GT 740M/8 GB RAM/1TB HDD. Will changing the HDD to an SSD void the warranty?

Answer:Will installing an ssd on a ideapad z410 void the warranty?

Hi shaderer,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

This should not void the whole system warranty,
But any part damage during the process, that damage will not be covered by the warranty but not the whole system hardware.

Please check this as reference

Greetings, We got a lenovo P500 from the United States by the end of last year. We're currently in Egypt and so is the laptop. The battery has totally stopped working and we can only use it while it's connected to electricity. We took it to the maintenance center but they said they can't fix it unless we pay for the battery even though the warranty portal says that it's still in the warranty period. We just want to check if what they said applies. Thank you for your time.

Answer:Ideapad P500 international warranty issue

Dear Customer

Unfortunately there is no international warranty for such model in egypt

Thanks

Hello, I own a Z510 and I'd like to replace the HDD with an hybrid HDD/SSD or a pure SSD, because its 1TB disk is a real bottleneck. But what happens to the OS? How can I reinstall it, if it's stored in a separate partition of the HDD? And what about WIndows 10? Will I be able to install it? And maybe reinstall it if I have to restore the system?

Answer:IdeaPad Z510, changing the HDD, warranty and Windows 10

Hi MaxArt,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Yes it is compatible with an SSHD
You can check the Z510 Maintenance Manual here
https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_z410z510z510touch_hmm.pdf
Check at page 89 where the SSHD is part of campatibility list.

There is no release yet about Windows 10 Supportability with Lenovo odea systems, I bet it should come out soone since the release is on July 29.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hey guysI have bought a Yoga 13 in the UK when I went for a holiday from Australia and I only used it for 3 months and the motherboard started to give trouble. Laptop started to do random reboots few minutes after the boot before showing a gray screen. Called the customer service and I have been advised that Yoga 13 is not covered in Australia under their IWS, fair enough. As per the rep's advice and confirming with a service centre in Singapore, sent it to a friend in Singapore, spent $130 for courier and another $80 for customs. I was told first that they have found a fault in the motherboard and they have ordered it. Few days later my friend was called and informed that it cannot be fixed as the model is a UK one and they cannot fix it in Singapore. This is really unfortunate while the websites says it is covered under IWS in Singapore but the service centre says they cannot fix it as it is purchased in the UK and has to be sent back to the country of purchase. Now my warranty period is about to finish and even after I spent $200 in postage and custom charges, I still could not get it fixed it. A very unpleasant experience for a user who merely used it for 3 months. Now my broken laptop in Singapore and I am in Australia. Not sure what to do. Any suggestion guys?

I'm having difficulty regisitering my laptop for the base warranty.  When I go to this website:  http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/Member/member.aspx There is no way I can choose United States of America as my country.  Is there an alternate website I should be visiting?  Also tried calling Lenovo support, but their phone systems are down until Monday.  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Base Warranty Registration - Ideapad Z575

You're right.  I just tried to register my Z575, but the drop-down list doesn't show the U.S.  Odd.  So I tried to register without an entry in that field, but that doesn't work; the field requires an input.

Hello, Would opening up my IdeaPad Y500 void the warranty? Say, for example, if I wanted to remove a speaker. That would mean dismantling almost everything from the system board. This wouldn't void the warranty, would it? The only documents I can find online don't mention anything about taking apart the system. Here they are: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/docs/UM015162https://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/WW/emea/merchandising/pdf/Lenovo%20Limited%20Warranty.pdf Otherwise, the product page for the Y500 just says "For a copy of applicable warranties, write to: Lenovo Warranty Information, 1009 Think Place, Morrisville, NC, 27560." This is a little ridiculous. I understand that there are "customer replaceable units". This implies that the unit can be taken apart by the customer; is this correct?

Answer:Does opening up an IdeaPad Y500 void the warranty?

Good day.

For reference, you may wish to have a look at your hardware manual:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_y400_y500_hmm.pdf
Starting on manual page 76, you'll see the parts listing and the CRU designation of each. Those items marked with one or two asterisks are considered CRU.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I am thinking of buying an Ideapad Y450 41896HU but not quite sure about the International Warranty Service (IWS)of this machine.  My questions are as follows: 1,Is Ideapad Y450 41896HU eligible for IWS in China? If I upgrade the warranty from 1-year base warranty to 2-year onsite, can I get 2-year IWS?2. Do I need to request the IWS when I buy it, if yes, how? I can't find any option to add this service when I am trying to order it online.3. I am going to buy it with American Express to get extended warranty service. Can the length of IWS be extended with it too? I have been calling to Lenovo for a whole day but no representative answered! I hope I can get the answers as soon as possible because I want to make a decision before the $200 off ecoupon expires. Thanks.

Answer:Ideapad Y450 International Warranty Service

I finaly got an chance to speak with a LENOVO sale representative on phone. I have been told that unfortunately there is no International Warranty Service available for Ideapad purchansed in the USA! However, if I buy it in China, there IS IWS with the machine.

After reading what i have on various forums, seems we're not the only people facing this issue. The laptop, Z570 (1024-6JG) was a christmas present to a child recently diagnosed with aspergers. This laptop is the only computer they have, and she has to attend a Virtual Classroom. She has now basically lost her work and cannot access her education. The laptop in question has suddenly stopped working. It was shut down normally, kept safe on a desk, lid was closed. Came to it the next morning and....nothing happens. There are no LEDs lighting up whatsoever, not even the charge LED, which worked before. It does not respond to the power button at all, with just battery, just mains charger or both! Basically, what i really need is for Lenovo to actually support a product for once. So what are the options? I have read that one option is to have one sent out so we can swap the hard drives around - that would be perfect. The other option is to be sent or, if it will resolve the issue quickly, purchase a motherboard from you. I can't seem to source one anywhere on the internet, seems i need to contact you (Lenovo) directly. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. I just didn't want to ring some number just to be told it was the wrong one or there's nothing that could be done. For a laptop that isn't even 6 months old yet, i find it scandalous that it can just suddenly die like this. What happened to the legendary reliability that is IBM Thinkpad? The most recent IB... Hi all. Today I received my Ideapad from amazon.co.uk. I checked my warranty status, and seems that someone has registered the product 3 months ago. To me this sounds like an error so is there any official support email or something[1]? Also, for my laptop, I like it as it is, and I do *NOT* agree to the software terms and conditions of Lenovo nor Microsoft. Where should I direct my "disobedience" in order to get back the Microsoft tax? Are there any actions that need to be taken before installing Linux (i.e.. Letting a Lenovo "official" do the fsck, remove the sticker etc). Thanks for your help    [1] I spent at least 30 minutes searching the site for warranty email support, but in vain.

Answer:Ideapad z380 from amazon.co.uk warranty and other concerns

The warranty starts on the day it leaves the Lenovo factory. Since you bought it at Amazon, they (Amazon) held your machine in their warehouse for around 3 months, before you plunked down the cash for it. This is used to indemnify any damage caused by sitting in the warehouse, and their handling of the shipping. Now, if you have a problem with your machine, you should talk to Amazon first, as they are the official re-seller. If you had bought the laptop from Lenovo direct, you would have been given a Excel spread sheet, listing your serial number, and the warranty part number, and the effective dates. Cheers DragonRider

Answer:Ideapad 100-15IBY - Will adding more memory void my warranty?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

According to your model's User Guide the only items which can be serviced by the owner is the removal of the keyboard and the optical drive.  The removal of the back cover to access the memory is not a consumer replaceable item and accessing that area of your laptop may void the warranty.  Some Lenovo service centers understand that computer owners like to do upgrades. They tend to over look the fact the laptop has been opened for such upgrades as long as there is no damage during the upgrade process.  I would suggest you contact Lenovo Support in your country and see what their opinion is as they will have the final say as to whether the warranty will be voided with the memory upgrade.

As for the graphics card upgrade, I'm not an owner of your model, but I suspect the graphics chip is incorporated into the motherboard and is not upgradable.  In viewing the documentation for your model I see no separate parts listing for a graphics card.

You will have to take the bottom off, unless you see and warranty void stickers, and you are fairly competent and you do no damage you will not invalidate your warranty, you do need a good set of screwdrivers so you get a go fit on the screws so you don't damage them. Below is a link to the service manual. http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_u310_u410_hmm_1st_edition_mar_2012_english.p... John.

Dear lenovo COMMUNITY  Previously being a Apple Macbook Air owner has enabled me to benifit from the companys service, techniqual support and warranty benfits.  Why would I, a lenovo consumer, bring up a competers profile in a discussion forum?  For one, I'm currently a college student, in which a reliable laptop is a must.  Secondly, I chose to purchase a lenovo laptop to beneift from the flexible warrenty plan and customer service, which is advertised extensivly.  Well the "flexible warranty", which was included with my one month old lenovo ideapad S405 has not lived up to his name. My lenovo ideapad S405 is registered and has 11 months left on its basic warrenty.  Two weeks after I bought the laptop it stopped charging, but sustained power when plugged in.  This made my college life rather difficult trying to use a non-protable laptop.  I tried to call the number for warrenty support, but got techniqual support.  Talked to a guy named Ali, who did not listen to any of my issues, or give me the proper number to reach the Warrenty support.  His exact words were look it up yourself.  I finally got the number to properly follow through with a warrenty claim and this is the only option I was provided with, "Ship laptop at my own expense and wait 6 to 8 weeks for it to be repaired."  How am I suppose to do class assignments for 6 to 8 weeks?  Is it my fault I bought a brand new laptop ... hi cmusch,

Welcome to the Forums.

I checked your case# 8001736701 and it's noted that your battery is not charging or having a short battery life. Just to verify though, is your battery level stucked at 59% and it's not charging anymore beyond that?
 - if this is the case, it's possible that the energy management software is limitting this charge as stated in this article. Try to open the Lenovo Energy Management and set the Battery Settings to "maximum battery life" and observe
 - Link to picture

If the battery doesn't get charged and there's no battery light, the battery might be defective and neesd replacement. In this case, I recommend you contact lenovo support one more time to get a replacement battery.
- More info here on battery light indicators

In an event that the battery replacement doesn't resolve the issue, there's most likely an issue on how the battery is fitted in the motherboard's charging contacts, thus, the issue is needed to be investigated by a tech. If you can't be without a computer for 7 business days (this is the usual turnaround time), you may also want to raise that concern to the support rep. that you'll be talking with.

Hope you get the issue fixed soon.

I want to go for extended warranty pack up.And how to update the warranty details for 2 years

Answer:what is the procedure for extended warranty pack for lenovo ideapad z580

hi vamsilenovo,

Thanks for Posting!

As far as I know as long as  the system is within the First year from the date of purchase the warranty can be extended and limited to three years Maximum.
And For upgrades some system only has a certain period from purchased date when they can upgrade the warranty.
Extension and Upgrades can be combine when purchased.

First, I got my first ever laptop recently, about 2 months ago, it is an ideapad n585. on the frst month I noticed a random thin white horizontal light start to flicker in the right side of my screen. Frightened I turned off my laptop and didn't touch it for the night. Come morning I saw nothing UNTIL about 3 days ago AND right now. What should I do? I haven't done any modifications to the screen or computer hardware itself  Second, I have never had an appliance where I felt like I needed to pay for whatever warrenty the store(in this case Best Buy) has offered. But I've been wondering about the Lenovo Limited Warranty. Am I supposed to pay for those services or does Lenovo give this to anyone who has purchased their product?  Would my screen problem be able to be fixed with the Lenovo Limited Warranty?

Hi. I purchased Ideapad y530 40516BU a month ago with   At-home IdeaPad Warranty with 1Yr Accidental Damage Protectionfor total price of $804.54 ($742.35 + tax). I was upset enough when a week later, the improved model, 405166U, with NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB sold for $653.65+ tax (1 year accidental damage protection would be additional $59.00 versus the $79.00 I paid a week before this with total price below the $804.54 I paid for inferior graphics). But now, I have a scratch on the center of the screen of my laptop, and Lenovo refuses to cover it, saying I don't have the 1 yr accidental damage protection (EVEN THOUGH I PAID additional $79.00 for it). What should I do? If I could, I would just return this laptop, and get the 405166u, a better laptop which is ironically cheaper than than what I paid for the same laptop with lower quality graphics. It's not fair! I was charged for insurance which Lenovo did not give me. What should I do?

Answer:Lenovo won't cover my At-home IdeaPad Warranty with 1Yr Accidental Damage Protection

Hi, Lenovo,         I would like to ask about the international warranty service. I bought this S410p last December and I am thinking about to upgrade the international warranty services before the one year warranty ends. I will study abroad at Scotland ,UK next year for 2 years. There are a few questions that I would like to enquire,1)  Is the laptop bought in Malaysia will be accepted in Scotland under warranty?2) How long it would take for repairing if I send it to the service provider in Scotalnd?3) What is the price for  extra 2 years international warranty?Thank you. Regards, Jeslinerue

My Lenovo laptop Y550 is giving me problems, The order number is Order #: 2DKM45 (serial number can be provided if needed) , its an Ideapad Y550 from the United States. The screen goes blank randomly after sometime, all other systems continue to work. Only thing that makes it ok is a reboot of the system. This problem happens quite frequently these days. It happens on fresh boots also and is not a heating issue. Multiple reinstalls of windows did not fix the problem. This problem has appeared with other Y550s also I see on the internet and needs to be fixed in service centers. Since I am in India, I contacted [email protected], I got a reply from [email protected] I responded to the mail from the lenconsumer email ID, mail bounced from that ID. Resent mail to eservice email ID and am still waiting for 2 days. I am terribly disappointed in the IWS of Lenovo. They dont even have a chat/email system for US customers.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y550 problem and IWS warranty usage issues in India

This must be a company wide trait, ignored here just as Lenovo India is ignoring all my warranty requests.

Hi, My 2 year old Lenovo Flex 14 Ideapad has encounter a non-functioning touch screen and loosed usb ports.Due to some disappointing experience with the Lenovo Singapore Service Centre, my warranty has just expired and I have yet to be able to service my laptop. The main issue was that I wasn't able to send my laptop down to the service centre in person, as the operating hours of the service centre in Singapore coincides with my working hours. Unfortunately, I did not sufficient time to make any arrangements to sevice my laptop before the expiry of my warranty. In my attempts to look for alternatives with Lenovo, I've tried contacting Levono Singapore Service Centre on multiple attempts. However, I wasn't able to reach any of the service centre staff using the designated service centre contact number on multiple occasions. I even had to experience occasions where I was put on hold for nearly up to an hour each time. Eventually, I gave up on trying to reach the service center and randomly dialed a general enquiry line with Lenovo.  Unfortunately, the staff that attended to me insisted that I had no other choices but to make it down during my offices hours to service my Flex 14. This whole stretch of trying to contact Lenovo Singapore to obtain information to service my laptop has resulted in me not being able to service the laptop in time.  As such, I would like to seek opinions on is it possible to still extend the warranty for it? Hello. I am interested in purchasing  Lenovo IdeaPad N581 in amazon.de, as it only comes out there with DOS. I want to send it to Spain, where I'll use it. I've seen there's only one year of warranty and, if I'm not wrong, with the european warranty I should pay the shipping costs and everything in case I've to send the laptop to the SAT during this one year. I obviously don't think that's a good deal so I was interested in knowing about the extension/upgrade of the warranty as I can't find anything in the web if I don't input the serial number. Can anyone help me with that? Any details about that extended warranty for that model? (price/years/having the laptop collected at home with no aditional costs/etc.). Thank you.

This Lenovo of mine, the Ideapad V470, is a replacement of a replacement of a replacement through Lenovo--during that period multiple walk-in and out-sourced repairs were required on a ThinkPad Edge 14. (The process took over a year and a half).

Flash forward to today, on my V470, which has been running completely fine since day 1. (Which could not be said about the Edge 14), I close the laptop, put it in my bag, open it up (it never shut-down, just sleep).and I come to this...

I am baffled, the only other time I've seen this is when my old Rosewill graphics card on my Compaq Presario (600MHz beast back in the day) started to die on me.

I know this has to be hardware related and not software because the distortion is prevalent on the Bios screen and the Splashlogo when booting.

The forum backround is a bright Cyan as I am writing this.

The red lines you see are fast moving pixels, that are continually shifting and moving, although maintaining the basic shape you see there. The laptop is only 3 months old or so, not even, I have the worst luck with computers!!!!!!

Also I have not dropped in, or spilled liquid on it. The only trip it took was a 15 minute car ride to my house from my fiances. This is ridiculous.

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

My kid has been using this laptop and loved it, but mentioned a while ago it was difficult to power it back on after turnned it off. However she managed to work around by putting it in hibernate/sleeping mode only, or recycling the system many times (by holding on power button to force it off). The issue was black screen (no Lenovo logo) but computer was on. I didn't pay much attention because she can still make it work, and I was too busy. Last week, there was a windows update (again) and the computer was forced recycle. It never comes back alive again. The same, computer is humming, but no any visual output on screen, just black. Tried novo button, bootable USB, external monitor, all no use. Check the warranty, just over by 2 months! Asked the service store, to fix will cost at least $200-$300 to replace the motherboard! It does not make sense when spent a bit more could buy a new notebook. But my kid liked it and it does not make sense to throw it away either, when it still looks pretty new and only being used very lightly (schoolwork only). It is sad, especially the brand has been gainning my trust. I probably don't expect a "good" solution either from Lenovo or community, but just throw my frustration here (only because have just registered the account and there is no support email or web form). If Lenovo want to make customer happy, the part shouldn't be so expensive for a short-lived laptop! Just by the way, there are many posts about Ideapad's black screen i... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad U410 - no screen output or black screen, and just out of warranty

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of all the problems.  Here are a couple of things to try........

First, try a reset of the BIOS.  The procedure can be useful in resolving some hardware conflicts which your computer may have.  Just do this......

1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 3. Plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If you are comfortable working inside your laptop. try this........

Try the reset again with the battery removed.

If the reset didn't resolve the problem then you may have a failed piece of hardware preventing the bootup. Remove the battery, hard drive, optical drive, memory, wireless card and bluetooth if it is installed. Now try to power up the stripped laptop. With all the hardware removed you should have lights come on and it may possibly beep since there is no memory installed. If the laptop is showing signs of life start adding hardware one piece at a time starting with a memory module and boot up the laptop. If it doesn't power up try the memory in the other slot. Also try the other memory module separately in both slots if two are available. If it is still showing signs of life add another piece and boot. Do this for each item until it doesn't power up again. The last piece of hardware installed is your problem part.

Hello! I'm Joselle and I own a IdeaPad z710. My parents bought it last thanksgiving sale at bestbuy USA. However, I live in the Philippines now and I have RAM Problems. According to a computer technician, he said he couldn't open to fix my laptop since it was still under warranty. Now, I can't live with blue screen "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" in 2 months since I'm a gamer and my laptop's warranty will expire within 2 months. Any solution? Plus, I already confirmed it is a RAM Problem. Did tests already and it was confirmed. Did everything to fix it yet nothing works. The RAM must have broke. Should I just approach the nearest Lenovo Store to fix it for me ? Or etc? I just can't throw my RAM away. It is 16gb and it is very pricey. Please help.

I bought a brand new Lenovo ideapad 305 from Argos. It has buzzing noise since I bought it. Called the Lenovo support centre in UK and the lady told me politely it is better if I take it back to Argos and they will help me. So I did that. The problem is, that Argos is really noise, of course we couldn't hear the noise as it is not that loud, but I am pretty sure, there is some problem. The lady told me she cannot do anything as we can't hear anything. Not the noise why I am woirred about. I am worried about the impact that can happen in the future, and maybe it will be after my warranty is expired. So my question is, why do I have a bloody warranty for the laptop if noone lift even a finger to help me? Is anyone had problem with Lenovo warranty or customer service?

I bought a Lenov Ideapad 510 15IKB on 14th April 2017. Now I'm facing 2 issues with the warranty registration and warranty upgrade: Issue#1On April 16th I registered the base warranty of my product as it should start from the purchase date of my product. After few email conversations for purchase proof, finally on 3rd May, I received email confirming the base warranty registration of my product. It was starting from 14th April 2017 and ending on 13th April 2018. I checked the same on lenovo website. But few days back when I again checked the warranty status, it was restored to factory warranty (15 Oct 2016 - 13 nov 2017). I don't know why this happened and how this happened. When I contacted lenovo, they said that warranty is updated in their database but how can I beleive when I can't see this on warranty lookup section of the Lenovo official website. I have also attached the screen shot of warranty lookup page as of today (22 June 2017). Issue#2I registered for 2 year warranty extension under Back To School offer (Ticket Number - ADP-BTS-025399) on www.buyalenovo.com and made a payment of INR 999/- on 6th May 2017. On 10th May, i received an email confirming the receipt of payment and in the same email, it was mentioned that warranty certificate will be mailed to me within 7 bussiness day, but till the date I've not received any warranty certificate, I've sent so many emails in last one week, but I didn't receive any reply to any email. Answer:Problems with Thinkpad Warranty - Not recommended to buy Thinkpads due to poor Warranty Support

Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear about your less-than-pleasant experience with tech support. While I understand your aggravation (I'd be pretty upset myself if I were in your shoes), I'd tend to believe that this is still an exception, and not the rule. My T43p (2687-D5U) came back repaired after three business days last week, no complaints on this end. I've been using ThinkPads for eight years now without a single bad experience with IBM support, and I've sent dozens (if not hundreds) machines for a repair over that period of time. There are incidents like the one you have described with every company. Once in a blue, a case slips through the cracks, it is human to err. And while I'm not demeaning what happened to you, or defending the company, you'd likely be in a worse spot with another laptop. Hopefully the disks will arrive safely, and help you restore that T43 to its full glory, enabling you to enjoy it once again. Good luck and keep us informed.

Answer:International Warranty Service (IWS) and Post-Warranty Depot Thinkplus

Hi Nosaku,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are looking for International Warranty details for ThinkPad T520.

The warranty policy will differ from region to region, you can extended the system warranty in India, but before that check the below link to verify if your model is supported in India. You have to enter the MTM number of the machine and click on search so that it will provide the list of region where and all it is supported.

Note: Please contact the customer care of the region where you are looking for International Warranty and get the (IWS) policy details, because the parts will be available only for those regions & the parts will be vary from region to region.

International Warranty Services (IWS)

Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi everyone, I am in the process of acquiring a T510 online and were very surprised for not finding this 3 year basic depot warranty. This is the same kind of warranty I got for all my two previous Thinkpads (a T42 and T61p) and I used to see it there until one or two weeks ago. Has Lenovo stopped offering this 3 year basic warranty? In the Warranty and Protection Services > Warranty Services 3 Years, I can only find these options: --  3 Yr Battery--  3 Yr Priority Support Onsite--  3 Yr Onsite + 3 Yr Thinkpad Protection I would be interested in purchasing a 3 year Basic Depot Warranty if it is still available. Does anyone know something about this matter? I am otherwise ready to make my order. Thanks for any help. Cheers   .

Help! My Lenovo 550 laptop will not connect to the Internet. Imagine my surprise when I called for help and was told my warranty was expired and they could not help me. My warranty expires in December 2012. I checked the website and sure enough it states I have only a 1-year warranty that expired December 2010. So, my 3-year warranty I purchased was never applied. I called sales support phone # on my receipt, and the message is that they are closed for a holiday then it hangs up. Email addresses are invalid. Tech support won't help. I was also told there is no mechanism for "formal complaints" - how convenient. Any ideas? I paid for this warranty and it really sucks I wasted my money. :-/ This is my first and last Lenovo product.

Hello; I've bought my new Y50-70 about 3 months ago it has issues with USB ports i took it to Lenovo customer service and they found motherboard to be the issue and they changed it to new one and now i got it back with the new motherboard but in warranty information it has the serial number on the new motherboard not the laptop itself and it says INVALID in the warranty status. i really need to change the serial number back to my laptop serial number so it can get the warranty right could you please help me ? Thank you

Answer:Y50-70 Motherboard changed within warranty and now warranty says Invalid

First off, I am assuming you checked your warranty online?
Online warranty always uses your system serial number, not the part number. Have you tried checking on this link -
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/warrantylookup

It could just be a website error, since I have seen issues on Lenovo website warranty check.
You should call to Lenovo Customer Service and verify with them that your warranty is valid. You can also ask to talk to a supervisor to clarify the issue.

You can ask them to send a confirmation email about your warranty but its a hit & miss. (with them sending emails)

PS: I had the same issue and they always said (on phone) that my warranty is valid. The website was NEVER updated with the correct information. That was about 3 years ago.

Good Day I have a T520 with dead pixels on the screen. I am trying to determine if I can repair it under warranty or if it should be repaired out of warranty. The LCD cover show no signs of being opened and the notebook has not been in for repair before. Upon internal inspection I saw that on the back of the LCD panel itself there are faint asymmetric grooves (like a small flat screwdriver was scraped against it.) Any help will be appreciated.

Answer:T520 LCD replacement. Warranty or Non warranty

Hi, LordPoisen

Dead pixels should be covered by your warranty. This is dependent on a few things: 1) The number of dead pixels. Lenovo's policy states that a machine must have at least three visible dead pixels for it to be replaced (as shown here). 2) The dead pixels must not have been caused by physical damage.

As for the scratches on the rear on of the LCD, if these are determined to be correlated with the dead pixels, then the machine would have to be fixed out of warranty. Otherwise, however, you should have no issue getting it repaired under the terms of you warranty. You can get the process started by calling 0800-110-756 and describing your issue to them.

Hope it helps,
Adam
