I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Gracias. Un saludo.

Hello, I have the Lenovo Y570 with the 64 GB SSD version. As most of you know the SSD is connected via a Mini PCI-e slot. Due to the limited size of the SSD, I would like to replace it with a bigger one (about 256 GB), which should also be connected via the Mini PCI-e port. I was thinking about the Crucial m4 mSATA 256 GB. I contacted the official Crucial support and I was told that this SSD and the Y570 are not fully compatible. So I searched through the internet and it seems like Lenovo has some kind of whitelist which restricts the mSATA port to only a few SSDs. (e.g. the Intel series 310 with 80 GB seems to be working fine.) So I wondered if anyone can tell me, if there is a such whitelist and what mSATA SSDs are compatible with the Lenovo Y570? If this question is allowed: If there's such a list, is there a way to surpass it, for example with a new BIOS or a modified BIOS? (As far as I have heard SSD connected via a normal SATA controller are not restricted, but I don't want to replace the HDD or the optical drive with a 2,5'' SSD when there's a Mini PCI-e port available.)

Answer:Lenovo y570 - Compatible mSATA SSDs?

Hello ka17, I have Y560p and my laptop has two expanding slots. One is mini PCIe slot and the other is mSATA slot. As you can see in the link below you cannot install mSATA SSDs in mini PCIe slot, only in mSATA slot. That is why Crucial support couldn't give you the green light to install their m4 SSD. It is possible that your BIOS is not going to recognize that drive. Maybe there are some drives that are supported for Y570, but personally I don't think that they are bigger then 80GB, I read somewhere that this is an electrical issue, but it's only what I read online, not the exact statement! http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Installing-mSATA-SSD-In-Y560p/ta-p/418343 Hope this helps a little. Cheers

So I got this problem 2-3 weeks ago. The problem was that when I was playing Fifa 12 on my laptop , the laptop suddenly stopped working. When I started it again the fans started working , but there was nothing on the monitor (black screen) and it wasn't from the monitor cause I couldn't hear the Windows starting song. So the problem kinda fixed itself (I don't exactly know how it happened , but the laptop was fine , everything working again).Like 2-3 days ago the same problem occurred when I played League of Legends. But I received some errors before that happened. The first one dropped me out of the game , but I wanted to rejoin fast and didn't read it. After I started the game again i got BSOD(Blue Screen Of Death - I don't really know how to call this problem , but I hope this describes it good).I waited 3-5 min than I restarted the laptop and when I started the game again BSOD appeared again.I was really worried about that , so I waited a little bit longer this time (around 10min).And now the same problem appears (the fan - working , black screen , no windows song). And now I can't start the laptop at all , because of this. Please help ! Just 3 questions <31. For the upcoming game of "Black Desert",I was wondering if there was any way to upgrade my GPU (Nvidia Geforce 555M (notebook))I understand it's soildered into the motherboard, but is it possiable to do an external GPU for the laptop?2. Also whenever i switch from integrated graphics card (Intel 3000) to my Nvidia 555M, the GPU heat SKYROCKETS from 45 C to 80C, Is that a danger zone? Or is my laptop able to handle it?3. What cooling devices can i use for this laptop?(I already re-applied new thermal paste) Thanks (:

Hi, guys.Im having the following problem:My Nvidia card doesnt want to work properly all the time. I move the switch, the indicator led goes ON, the game is added @ nvidia control panel to run @ Nvidia card, BUT I start the game and get 19-20 fps. I restart 10 times, unplug battery & power, reinstalled drivers.Sometimes the GPU works without ANY problem, I just move the switch and play, and sometimes I have to restart shutdown 10 times in order to make it working again. When GPU doesnt work properly, It is not shown in AIDA64, and when it works properly - it is shown. Currently with last nvidia drivers from lenovo support page @ my model, but also tested with various drivers from nVidia.com, the problem presists. I just dont know if it would "decide" to work today or not. This issue is REALLY annoying, since the GPU act like it's working properly while it isnt and the only way to check it, is to run a game and check fps. The other "detection method" is AIDA64, "GPU" Tab. If anyone had similar problems and resolved them, please post.

Alright so my Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 recently underwent some physical damage while on and the HDD took serious damage and I was forced to replace it. I was under the impression that the OneKey recovery system was an onboard full restore and did not know that it was hard drive based. I seem to have misplaced the recovery disk that came with my laptop so I'm running low on options. If anybody has one they would not mind selling to me (if that doesn't void any warranties/agreements) that would be awesome. Reply to this thread if any help or answers.

Spec: Intel Core I7, 8gb Ram, 2gb nvidia, HDD 750 with no SSD..I Already have Y560 for a year now.. and I didn't experience any lagging or slowness at all...I just bought the laptop for my brother yesterday and at first I noticed a problem in speed while copying files.. so I tried a fresh installation of Win7 ..Every version I tried gives the error "Windows cannot install required files. File may be corrupt or missing", at Expanding files step..I thought if I copied the DVD to a local paratition and run the setup it would continue .. and it did but it was very slow too and it took almost 2 hours to install win7..then each driver setup took 10 to 20 minutes to be installed and  recognized..Now the boot time takes more than 80 seconds.. and after 6 seconds when the system loads completely .. I can hear  the windows start up tone.Any Suggestions ??

8gb (2x4gb) ddr3sodimm
part number: khx1600c9s3p1k2/8g

there's something else ? maybe for Corsair, or other good brand ...
Thanks...

Answer:Can Help with Recommended RAM for Lenovo IdeaPad Y570?

Corsair is good and has postive overall satisfaction rating.

I recommend to go 8 GB since on some occassions (e.g. 20 - 30 tabs of web browsing + virtual machine running), I can actually exceed 4 GB of RAM usage. With 8 GB of RAM, you can also run 2 or more virtual machines without slowing down your Y570. IMO 8 is the sweet spot (enough for most tasks), but if you are doing something radical like using a RamDisk or Adobe After Effects with many layers, you can opt for 16 GB RAM which is the max for Y570.

For 8 GB, you can buy this "Corsair 8GB (2x 4GB) 1333mhz PC3-10666 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM Laptop Memory Kit CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9" which is completely compatible with Y570 for a reasonable price online.

hello friends i am planing to buy this lenovo ideapad y570 but i noticed that there is a lot of problems in this  laptop like overheating and screen issues so what you advice me ? should i buy this brand or look for another brand like toshiba or hp ?need your opinions please ,, sorry for my english

Answer:lenovo ideapad y570 users experience

IMHO, I would go with a different brand.  Lenovo's IdeaPad designs are not ready for prime time...too many issues that should have been resolved prior to releasing the designs for production.  And post-sale support is simply awful...nothing like the excellent experience I use to have with Lenovo's ThinkPad designs and service.  Again, just my opinion based on my experience thus far with two Y470 machines.

Hi, I just bought an Ideapad Y570 and i havent really done anything to it, but the sound is only coming out of the left speaker. I have done a sound test for both speakers and the right one still did not work. I would assume that the speaker itself is broken and that it is not a software issue. The being said, would installing the most current drivers do anything insisting the company is brand new? If so where do i find the correct driver?

Answer:Right speaker not working on my Lenovo Ideapad Y570

Hi Klop, to test if right speaker may be defective please try first to connect a headphone to your Y570 andcheck if there is sound output on both earpieces, if sound is still coming from left side only go toControl Panel\All Control Panel Items > Sound > Speakers > Properties > Levels > Balanceand see that both L and R sliders are at the same position.  Y570 Drivers & Downloads...http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=867235 good Luck... My laptop (lenovo IdeaPad Y570 (08622KU), comes with an i7-2630QM and when I bought it, the description said that it had Turbo Boost, from 2GHz w/o to 2.9GHz with. My problem is that the Intel Turbo Boost is not working. Is there anything that I can do to make it work? As I have looked through my BIOS and have not seen anything pretaining to it, not even CPU clock speed or nothing, which is wierd, and the BIOS is up-to-date as when I tried to flash my bios it said it was older than the one I already had.I have downloaded the Intel Turbo Boost Technology monitor 2.0 and I do not see it go above 2.00GHz when I start to play games. Is there anyway for me to get turbo boost to work?As I have downloaded Throttlestop and enabled Turbo boost through that way, but it is only temporary, is there any solution on how I can get it to work? Also there is no Intel Turbo Boost Service in Serivces

Hi everyone. I've had this laptop for about 2.5 years now and it's given me nothing but trouble. First it was the FPS throttling issue while playing games and now this. I'm no longer able to switch to the NVIDIA GPU using the physical switch. The light just remains off. I tried completely formatting my laptop and reinstalling Windows but was able to acheive absolutely nothing at all with that. It used to work perfectly fine until one day I left it idle for a little while and after logging in again, it was running extraordinarily slow. NVIDIA drivers install absolutely fine but whenever I try to access the NVIDIA control panel, it just crashes. I right-click on Computer, select Properties and open the Device Manager and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M has an exclamation mark on it and it says: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". My NVIDIA drivers are up-to-date (344.75). Your help is greatly appreciated!

I changed 3 laptops in the past month

1) Asus G73Sw Horror Story, please read this, very interesting and scary! Never buying an ASUS in my life anymore! They say they are amongst the most reliable laptops...yeah right

2) After getting my money back for that Asus Notebook, I bought a Toshiba Satellite L750 with an Intel i7 2670QM @ 2.20 GHz./ nVIDIA GT525 M 2 GB but this notebook's cooling was horrible! On Idle, the CPU temp was 67-70 C and while watching a movie it would reach up to 90C! Imagine if I would play a game! Mind you, I am always at home and the Air Con is on @ 24C temperature. So I refunded that laptop as well...

3) Finally, I went back to the mall, and the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 was just released and the price was good with good features. Went home and opened it, I was more than pleased with the build quality, the keyboard, the screen, and the performance! This is one quality product well built with good battery life and specs

4) I then saw another Model of the IdeaPad Y570 which has an SSD as well + a 750 GB HDD so I refunded my current one and got the Y570 with the SSD built in. Then I removed the built in 750 GB HDD and put in my Kingston KC100 120 GB SATA-III SSD as the built in SSD is SATA-II. Then I installed Windows 7 Pro x64 on the Kingston KC100 SSD and I am very happy with the results!!

I am a new happy Lenovo user now

I recently purchased a Y570 from Lenovo and have had it for about a month with it working great. I use my laptop for World of Warcraft and I've been very happy with its preformance so far. 2 days ago while searching a news website my computer crashed for no reason with a bsod titled "Bad pool header" upon restart I did the repair option, it went threw its thing for a bit told me to restart so I did then got hit with a bsod "memory manager" upon restart this time I started in safe mode and ran chkdsk.

It ran threw its whole thing had me restart I did and everything seemed ok. I put in a dvd watched about 2 hrs out it then it froze into a bsod which happened so fast I couldn't see the error message and restarted. Since then I have gotten tons of bsod's with either "memory manager" "bad pool header" or "page fault in nonpage area". Its gotten so bad if I start up normally it crashes. If I try the repair option it crashes. If I try safe mode i get to the login and it crashes. If I try safe mode sometimes it will do chkdsk which will either run all the way though restart and crash or crash upon chkdsk.

I've tried to find some help on the net and some people with similar errors have reported replacing the ram and its fixed the situation. Would this be possible for me to do? Id rather not send my laptop in if its something I can fix by replacing ram. Any thoughts? so far Lenovo has been 0 help, I tried postin... Read more

I'm having some SERIOUS throttling issues with my laptop right now, whenever i try to play any games. Games will run fine for a little bit and then the FPS willd rop dramatically, and my ENTIRE computer will just bog down and lag while trying to do anything. I've tired A LOT of solutions. Changing fan speeds, reinstalling Thermal Management, doing a System Restore, changing my graphics drivers, using ThrottleStop, and im still getting these problems. Does anyone have any insight on this? I appreciate all help. Maybe i can FINALLY get this fixed, after 8 months of dealing with it.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 throttling issue.

CPU and GPU are usually throttled by the BIOS when their core temperatures reach 85 - 90 degrees Celsius. Monitor your CPU and GPUwith RealTemp and GPU-Z  by following the screenshot below:  Read the log files to see the CPU and GPU frequency and temperature every second. Note the temperatures where the throttling occurs Steps to prevent throtlling Clean the fan and heatsink with compressed air and make sure all of the fins and vents in the heatsink aren't blocked by dust. If that only lessens the occurence of throttling, the final step is to bring your laptop to a computer repair shop where a professional can open up your laptop and repaste the CPU and GPU or you can do it yourself in case you're out of warranty. I recommend to use Arctic MX4 or IC Diamond thermal paste as my overclockers recommend this paste. That should fix your throttling. If the laptop still does throttling, you need to play to an airconditioned room where the room temperature is around 16 - 18 degrees Celsius to ensure the fans are taking in cold air. Finally, always ensure that your power plan is set to high performance.

I am very unimpressed with Lenovo more then I have been with any other company right now. In July, I purchased an IdeaPad Y570 from the Lenovo site and after having it for only 3 days, it refused to boot as the system had a faulty harddrive. After tediously explaining my situation to three customer support agents (first one didnt even process the order as he didn't take all my information. Second one told me to restore and that it was basically my fault that it was faulty), they finally send me a box to send it in for repairs. Then they made me wait a month to simply swap out the harddrive. I was annoyed when my computer came back with a crack in the front plastic plate. I was annoyed when i found out that they didnt properly image the new HDD so it came back with insufficient drivers. I was agitated when I started getting bluescreens after 2 weeks getting it back from repairs, Now that the computer cant stay alive for longer then an hour without freezing completely (a mere three months after repairs), its safe to say that I'm pretty well pissed off now. After discussing it over with the customer support line, they basically assured me that there was no way that I was getting a replacement, as "it is up to the discretion of the person who processes your order as to whether you should get a new computer." The same people which returned to me, a computer with a cracked front plate. This is completely unacceptable. I find it deeply unsettling that a company can se... Read more

My lenovo laptop is stuck on Super Silent mode and is therefore overheating and shutting down when trying to run games and limiting its use. My OneKey buttons do not work (the moon and theatre one) the volume ones still do however. I've tried redownloading Energy Management many different times and different ways and tried redownloading OneKey and nothing has changed. I've also tried turning off the computer, unplugging it, taking the battery out and holding the power button to get rid of static.Nothing is working. I can't even play any of my games on my computer because it over heats ALL the time. It's really dissapointing that I spend this much money and it messes up.

Answer:Lenovo Y570 Ideapad Stuck on Super Silent.

Try a system restore point to a point when the buttons were working. I think that should do.

Is there anyway for me to get turbo boost to work?As I have downloaded Throttlestop and enabled Turbo boost through that way, but it is only temporary, is there any solution on how I can get it to work or get it to work through BIOS?

hi, I have lenovo ideapad y570 with windows 7 home premium i7. I have problems : my laptop is getting slower and I have to 2 times booting my laptop, the problem on the first boot is when it already displays desktop, when i click any shortcut or open folder, etc. there's no reaction, the folder or shortcut is not opened. but on the second boot, there's no problem.i want to reinstall this laptop with the original setting like the day I bought it, but I have no disk for reinstall. and how to reinstall it just like the day i bought it?should i backup my user? does microsoft office and any other built in program will lose? because they are already in my laptop since the day I bought it.what's the function of One Key Recovery?which data from my local disk (C) should i backup? I hope you could answer all my questions clearly.if there's something you dont clear from my questions, just ask me.thank you very much.

As title says. I got this laptop 1 year ago. I have the i3 version of it (i3 2,1ghz, gt555m, 4gb ddr3 ram). Now I know the i3 processor is not a beast and I shouldn't expect it to run everything but really. I can't run ANY games that came out in the last 5 years without it being choppy. I have tried everything: setting the processor to 99% max, having the "Best battery health" option in the Lenovo Energy Management, nothing. I'm playing games like Counter-Strike Source and the ONLY way to have 60fps is if I play the game in 800x600 or 640x480. Anyone else has this problem?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y570 - worst purchase of my life

You're judging too quickly. You really think a laptop with a dedicated GPU would struggle to play Counter-Strike??  The simple answer is that all your games are running on the integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics instead of the dedicated Nvidia GT 555M graphics. You should go to the Nvidia Control Panel and set the games you want played on the GT 555m to run on the "High Performance" GPU. Then go back and crank up the settings as high as you want, a GT 555M can max most modern games at 1366x768 resolution

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y570 Touchpad "Tapping" Issue

hi,is your synaptics touchpad driver installed?if yes, you have to change the settings from Device manager-hardware and printers-mouse. After opening mouse properties go to "Device Settings" tab and click on settings. After that you have to open "Tapping" page and enable it if it is not enabled.  If you don't have the driver installed, you can download it from the link below and do the same things above if the problem persists. just chose the right operating system http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

So several months ago my laptop started to have a problem where periodically the power light would begin flashing as well as the charging light. The power light would blink a while color that it normally is and the charging light would blink orange. When this happens the battery will stop charging, but will occasionally resume if I unplug and replug the power. I don't think this is a battery related problem because if I try to boot up my latpop without the battery in, it will get half way through then it will just shut off. I should note that when the battery is plugged in I have the flashing light problem during start up but it will usually be fixed with unplugging and replugging the power cord a time or two. This is a really frustrating problem and really limits what I can use my laptop for these days and I'd like to see if it's something that can be fixed at a reasonable cost.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y570, I only recently got it. It has only been a week or so. I am currently on it now. Recently, this problem has been occurring. Whenever I start my laptop, within 2 or 3 minutes of being at the login screen, my laptop freezes, to the point where nothing will work, including the mouse, touchpad or keyboard. This only occurs when it is plugged in with the AC adapter, and no battery pack in. However, I am able to prevent this from happening only when i start my computer with the battery pack, at which point I can unplug the battery pack and plug in the AC adapter. This is a hassle though. What should I do? I haven't tried anything yet, I just wanted to get some advice on the matter before I attempted to use the one key recovery. Thanks.

My stepsons' laptop recently began giving him issues playing games.  He backed up his software and restored it to factory defaults but the issue has remained.  The nVidia drivers simply crash either crashing the program and closing to desktop or require a hard shut down. The nVidia card is a GT 555M I've had a look at it and we have tried the following:Clean install of the nVidia drivers, both the ones listed on the lenovo drivers pages, and the nVidia site.Windows updates were checked and verified to be up to date.Power settings were tried with both max performance and balanced options. I backed up his system, and used the built in restore function to return it to factory defaults and confirmed that the issue remained. The system does not seem to be getting hot and otherwise runs fine.  His initial issues were with a couple of Steam games, but have since spread to anything video related.  The toggle is on for the nVidia GPU to be used and it is correctly applying the setting to use it when games are launched.  Even running the Windows 'Ratings Test' causes the system to fail. As he is responsible for reviewing games for one of his jobs and this is his main system it would be wonderful if someone here has seen this or knows what might be the cause.  I am suspecting a failed video card but cannot see any diagnostics available for Lenovo's or the video card in general.

Ok, I have already contacted bot nVidia, Intel, AND Lenovo numerous times about this issue. The problem that I have been experiencing is continuing to intensify as time goes by. I KNOW what the cause of the problem is, but unfortunately none of the aforementioned companies have released a fix for it. The whole issue has to do with an nVidia driver stability due to the complex architecture of Intel Optimus (the system that allows for switchable GPUs).  The error message I receive on the Blue Screen is as follows nvlddkm.sysPAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA after I reboot, the driver does not work at all and the computer is stuck on the Intel HD3000 REGARDLESS of what ponsition the GPU switch is in (nVidia control panel also reports that no display adapter is currently installed) I have verified that this system file is part of the nVidia display driver... I tried going to nVidia's official site to download a newer version of the driver (because Lenovo has not released an update of its own since late November....). The big issue here is, that the newer driver sets DO NOT support the Optimus architecture at all, regardless of whether or not the GT 555m is supported... nVidia was able to verify this fact via e-mail... My computer has crashed twice in the past 20 minutes, and quite frankly, it just makes me sick that I cannot do anything about it, and cannot get any initiative from either party... Anybody know how I can eradicate this is... Hello guys, I bought my Lenovo Y570 almost 7 months ago, everything was working fantastically well (software and hardware) until last night. I opened up my laptop, turned it on, and waited like a min or so, I heard Windows booting... But the screen simply wont show me anything, only a black screen. The backlight works, and if I press Fn + F2 the backlight will turn off and on. I've tried the taking off the battery and waiting 30 seconds trick but it doesn't work... The laptop boots perfectly, and the rest of the hardware is in perfect condition (integrated keyboard, fan, usb ports, and so on), even my Windows Home Basic. I live in Venezuela, so I apologize for my poor English since it's not my first language. Thank you very much beforehand.

Answer:lenovo y570 blue screen error

This is very strange and probably some registry errors due to a bad install or bad / otudated drivers are causing this If you are fine with installing windows / drivers on your own, then follow this guide: http://forums.pctweakers.net/showthread.php/62-Lenovo-IdeaPad-Y570-Clean-Install-Guide  Please note that with this guide you may lose the recovery partition, I personally delete the recovery partition as soon as I get the laptop as I don't want none of the bloatware that the manufacturer installs and I want a clean Windows witha clean registry so I can install the latest drivers on my own and have better performance.  Option 2, if you don't want to do this on your own, then take it to Lenovo but you will have to wait till they fix the issue and you probably will get that same laptop with the same bloatware / outdated drivers I would try to stick to option 1 in my guide, it has step by step instructions with the latest drivers that have been extensively tested to work and give the best performance by me. Before you do anything, try installing Wise Registry Cleaner from my forums here in this thread: http://forums.pctweakers.net/showthread.php/76-Wise-Registry-Cleaner Then run it, and clean your registry, then see if the issue is fixed. If not, then you will have to do one of the above Good luck

Hello,  This morning while using my laptop I found that all three of the previously mentioned buttons no longer work. The Thermal Management is now stuck on the efficient thermal dissipation, I am no longer able to switch it to the super silent mode or any other option. When pressing the button the light still dims for a bit, so I know that is working, it is the same with the One Key Theater. I have tried restoring to a earlier system point, uninstalling and re installing One Key Theater and the Energy Management, and I have tried to launch the One Key Theater from the start bar, I am able to launch and close the program, however I am not able to switch between any of the options. Are there any fixes for this problem? Or is there at least a way to revert thermal management to the normal option so I don't have to constantly hear the loud fan? I will not be able to send the laptop into customer service as I need the laptop for the next 8 months, and I have only had the laptop for less than a month so a hardware malfunction seems unlikely. Thank you. Edit: I can change between the One Key theater settings manually, so the only problem I have is the thermal management, if there was anyway to do that through the desktop I would be fine.

Hey guys,  I have the Lenovo Ideapad 520 (80YL00RXIN) and wanted to replace the CD Drive with the Samsung 850 Evo 250GB Solid State Drive  in order to increase the Boot Speed and over-all speed of the laptop.  So, the question is, Is the Samsung 850 Evo SSD compatible with my laptop? And will it fit in terms of size, in place of the CD Drive? Also, is it recommended to add the SSD? Any downsides to doing so?  Lastly, will I, someone who knows the basics about computers and the internal components of a computer, be able to install the SSD myself? Or would I rather outsource it to someone who deals in things like this? Thank you. Regards,Neel.

I haven't seen anyone used the Kingston 240 GB SSD on the Z570 but it should work as it's a 2.5" drive (ensure that you can return the item though just in case the BIOS doesn't detect it).

Alternatively, you can opt to get another brand like the Samsung Evo as other users have tested it on this unit.

Video:
Samsung SSD on the Z570

As for the OS, Windows should automatically activate itself once you re-install Windows (e.g., From a backup, a recovery disc, or fresh install) but in case it doesn't activate, you will need to activate it by phone.

Yesterday afternoon I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 for $499.00 from this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328

Obviously, it hasn't come in the mail yet. I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in the laptop. It comes with 6gb of RAM, a 4gb stick and a 2gb stick. The problem is, I don't really know what kind of RAM is in the computer. I'm looking to replace the 2gb stick with a second 4gb stick.

The type of RAM the laptop uses is pc3-10600 1333mhz ddr3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin so-dimm socket RAM.

My question is whether or not this RAM is compatible with the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3T4G3-US/dp/B00591ZYX8

Also, if there is a better option for RAM for this laptop, I'd like to know.

Answer:Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

Honestly, I think I may have mental problems. It looks like I answered my own question in this post. That RAM is compatible with my laptop. So I guess I'd just like to know if this RAM is the best option for this particular laptop.

Or can I just use the ones already are available and download the Windows 8.1 drivers?

Attention!Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update (pre-installed operating system is Windows 8.0) .More specifically, after update for Windows 8.1 all the  drivers (including the latest)  Intel (R) Iris (TM) graphics, Intel (R) Iris (TM) Pro graphics and Intel (R) HD GRAPHICS  installed on this laptop  does not support out of the sleep mode. This has been checked many times by different users laptop Flex 10.Any comments from Lenovo are absent. By Lenovo specifications for this notebook there are no conflicts with Windows 8.1. It is not true!It is unclear why Lenovo has admitted this deficiency.I think Lenovo Flex 10 is a mistake that will cost the company Lenovo.

Hello, I've just purchased the Lenovo Z510 Intel Core i7 (model 20287) and I've got a few queries: 1. if there is one mSATA connector available and free (not already connected) so I could be able to add an ADATA XPG SX300 mSATA SSD? this one is compatible with lenovo products?2. if yes (compatible) ,I can be able to install the Win7 OS after and if system will recognize the new ssd? any tutorial?3. if no (not compatible), what are Lenovo laptops compatible with mSATA ?  Many thanks in advance! Charlotte.

Solved!

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 (20287) - Compatible mSATA SSDs?

hi Charlotte,

Regarding your questions:
1. Looking at the specs sheet, the Ideapad Z510 does have a mini PCie card slot to fit an mSATA SSD but it doesn't indicate that it supports mSATA data signaling (and this slot is occupied by the wireless adapter).
  - Link to picture (page 27 of the HMM)
  - Z510 Specs

2. Not compatible. If you're leaning towards an SSD upgrade, you could consider getting a regular 2.5" SATA SSD and replace the HDD with the SSD and install Windows 7 on it. Check this thread as other users have sucessfully installed Win7 on their Z510.

3. Natively, these are some of the systems that supports mSATA:
   - IdeaPad Y400 / Y500
   - IdeaPad Yoga 13
   - IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro
   - IdeaPad U310 / U410 / U510
   - IdeaPad Y580

Okay I'm one of those computer repair guys, where people bring their pcs so I fix them. For the past month Ive gotten 3 pcs that have gotten hdd corruption errors and odd thing is that they don. Overheat they all had win vista and they all had western digital Scorpio blues. Some one tell me is this just suit luck coincidence or should I go sue western digital for making defective harddrives?

Answer:WTF western digital scorpio blue

Don't overlook bad or cheap ram. That can cause corrupt data on the hard drive too.

As for suing WD, that's pointless. If the drive is still under warranty they'll replace it once you've tested it with their own diagnostic software to confirm the drive is faulty. If it's out of warranty, WD are not liable anyway.

Bottom line is, you can't blame the drive until you've tested it with the maker's software.

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

If the Windows setup is able to identify it and it sees the full capacity, I would suggest that you just install it.

Hi there, I have some problem with an old 320GB Hitachi drive. So I bought a WD Scorpio Blue 500GB drive today. I used Ghost to do a disk to disk copy. After the copy completed, I tried to boot with the WD Scorpio Blue 500GB. Nothing happen, the cursor just blinks and blinks. If I boot from Hiren CD, I can see the WD Scorpio Blue 500GB. I use a partition tool, the disk and partition checks out all right, but I still cannot boot! I then insert a Windows XP Pro (My OS is still XP Pro) into a USB burner and boot from it. When I tried to press 'R' for repair, it claims that there is no hard disk in my system!! What is happening here? Do I need to update my BIOS for this new WD Scorpio Blue 500GB? I ran the FWSH33 boot CD, it says I don't need to update the drive's firmware. Can anyone advise for this strange problem? Thank you!! Regards, Sirius Wee

Hi Lenovo Support Team, I have LENOVO IDEAPAD Y 460,  MODEL NAME 0633 which I purchased from you on Sun, Dec 19, 2010. It has been nothing but a disappointment. It did not perform in the same way as it should since from the day one. Issues / ProblemsBlue Screen:  Every time the system is started / rebooted it gives blue screen, I have to restart the system for 4-5 times and then it works.2. ATI Driver Issue: The ATI driver display behaves erratically which requires rebooting the system every now and then, this leads to sheer frustration. My other friends are using the same product and they never face this issue. 3. System Heats Up: The system gets smoking hot even if it runs for an hour; it becomes almost impossible to work on it. I have never seen such a problem in my life time. Case ID / ComplaintsCase # WN 321 067: This case was registered with Lenovo support team on Wed, Mar 9, 2011, wherein you guys asked me to ship the machine to you support center based in Grapevine, TX and the above problems will be fixed, the machine was shipped to your facilities on 19th March 2011. I got a confirmation email on Wed, Mar 23, 2011 that my system has been successfully repaired and is on its way back to me. However when I received my machine the problem still persisted (heating, blue screen), the only problem which was fixed was ATI Driver / Display rest nothing was fixed. After struggling with it for another month, I raised another ticket.Case # WN 332 534... Hi,
I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago. it's an intel i5 M520 with 4GB ram, 500gb hdd, ati radeon graphics, windows 7 64bit.

It crashed 3 times so far, and everytime after an hour of using the laptop only in battery while using the integrated video card. I didnt try with ATI card to run on battery. But I always use ATI when I am using an external monitor while it is plugged and it never crashed then. It did not crash when i was switching the graphics card.

I had to push down the power button to shut down as nothing was responding.
Havent installed anything complicated other than phpeditor and ftp filezilla, mozilla, chrome.

NOte that i reinstalled Windows to factory settings again using OneKey Recovery.
And to my disappointment it happened again and Today instead of being frozen it went to blue screen and restarted auto. Here is what the windows problem solver showed. What should I do? Take it to a service center, i have warranty. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. I also attached the .dmp and .xml file in .zip format.

Hi and welcome Abu
This is pretty straight foward, your BSOD was caused by your intel wifi driver, please download and install fresh copy of it

Quote:
Driver Removal and Reinstallation:
Please do the following:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Windows 7 version of the program for this driver from the Intel website (NOT from Windows Update or from the Update driver function in Device Manager). If there are no Windows 7 drivers, post back for further instructions on installing Vista drivers using Compatibility mode.
- uninstall the current version from your system
- install the freshly downloaded version
- check to see if you have any further BSOD's

Hi all,I have had my Lenovo for a little over a year. It suddenly decided to direct me to a troubleshooting blue screen (with options such as refresh and reset) if I try turning it on (It's labeled by the computer as automatic system repair.). All the options on troubleshooting, such as refreshing, resetting, or performing a system restore, are not allowing me to use them.I tried using the button near the charger to access the system restore and set it to its factory settings (with OneKey Recovery) but if I try turning it on, it still redirects to the automatic system repair and the blue screen. It is a month past warranty, so Lenovo is asking me for $99++ and 7+ business days to restore to factory settings.must be an easier way? I have all my files on Carbonite, so I really just need to get to the factory setting. Could anyone help me with some ideas? I really need this computer for work. It used Windows 8, which is what it initially came with.Thank you, and take care!!

I bought the Ideapad 700 15ISK (Sr. No: R90JUYXF) on 25th of JUN 2016 (4299 AED) from Dubai UAE instead of DELL, HP and other brands, that was latest machine with high specification. After 2 week usage I faced that igdkmd64.sys error, so I installed graphic driver according to the Lenovo forum solved solution but nothing happened. Then, I 1st time claimed warranty. Still error happened even bios, drivers, window everything newly installed. Then 2nd time I claimed warranty, nothing will changed error still on his place, installed, reinstalled graphic driver my own self and even from service centre.I am having a strong desire to kiss the intoxicated Lenovo enginners who design this ideapad.Lenovo IDEAPAD 700 15ISK cheapest product with genie company defective model which didn't support the Intel graphic driver, how irresponsible Lenovo Company?s engineers are? Even you can?t run laptop for normal usage, window crash again and again like virus. One important thing, if you reinstalled old graphic driver, then 7 salute to Microsoft Window 10 blunder, we can?t stop window 10 to update the graphic driver, window automaticity update the driver and error happened like a virus. Wastage of time and money, I never again buy this Lenovo cheap quality product or never recommend to any of my friend to buy the Lenovo products. Lenovo comapny waste my entire year to claiming warrantyof this defective model cheap Idea pad with high cost.

Hi, I'm looking for a laptop for college that can also run some games.  I'm not hoping to run Crysis on high or anything...I just want to be able to have Portal, TF2, etc. look moderately good and play without lag.  I've found 2 laptops that look promising, but need help deciding. First is the Z580 21512KU model (about $770 on Amazon):-Intel Core_i5_3210M Processor 2.5GHz (3MB Cache)-6 GB DIMM RAM-750GB 5400rpm Hard Drive-NVIDIA GT630M 1GB DDR3 Then we have the Y570 ($750 on Lenovo's online shop):-i7-2670QM Processor( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB)-8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz-1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive-NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB Which one will be able to run my games better?  The Y570 seems like a better deal (larger hard drive, more RAM, i7 over i5), but I've heard that the .3 GHz difference in processor speed makes the i5 better.  Is this true?  Also, which graphics card will be better?  All in all, which is a better bang for my buck? Thanks!

Answer:IdeaPad Z580 vs. IdeaPad Y570?

Hi, I was exactly in the same dilemma; they are both priced very similarly. I opted for z580 because of several reasons. Y570 gets hotter overal. The i7 processor makes absolutely no difference in games; it's only useful for video editing. The 555M graphics card in the Y570 is the nerfed version of the card, which makes it performance wise similar to the GT 630M:http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-555M.41933.0.html(96 cores 753MHz (GF108), 128Bit GDDR5, e.g. Lenovo Y570p / Y560p)The hood on the Z580 looks way better (personal preference). The z580 has Ivy Bridge. Also, the screen on the z580 is a little better (AUO vs SEC on Y570). Bottom line: I'm very happy with my choice. Excellent build quality and decent performance. The screen is one of the best 1366x768 screens I've seen.I've played the following games so far:Crysis 2 on gamer settings, average 30 fpsshift 2 on high settings, 30-50 fpsmax payne 3 on medium, average 30+ fpsthe witcher 2, low settings, average 30 fps.modern warfare 3, high 40 fps Hope this helps

Hello, Since my Lenovo Y570 doesn't have a WLAN card that is able to use Wireless Display, I wanted to replace the card with an Intel 6230 card for example. Has anyone yet tried to replace the WLAN card and can report his experience? All I heard was that Lenovo has a Whitelist/Blacklist for WLAN cards. Thx in advance

Answer:Any compatible WLAN cards with Y570?

Ka17,

This is an old thread and I just found it burried on the Idea tablet board as we are doing a bit of reorganization here in the forum, so I moved it here to the correct board and thought I would also try to add a reply for benefit of others who may read this.

I would suggest going to our support.lenovo.com site, select drivers and downloads and the Y570 product and see the drivers available for Wifi.  Looks like several intel cards, a broadcom and atheros card as well.  Another source would be to check the hardware maintenance manual for the model in question.  Here is the link for the Y570.  Generally, the HMM will list the service parts for the different Wifi cards that could be used in the system.

You will likely need to source the Lenovo versions rather than OEM versions of the card.

Best regards,

Mark

Good afternoon all.  I'm hoping someone here can help me with this.  I bought this Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR at Thanksgiving and received it at the beginning of December.  I bought it mainly so that I could use Photoshop, Microsoft Office and to watch TV/movies online.  The only things I've installed on this computer since receiving it was the Photoshop 2018 and Avast Antivirus.  I disabled the Windows Defender antivirus and I couldn't find McCaffee anywhere on my computer.  Anyway, I've used this computer to watch movies a few times now for the last several weekends and at least once during a movie (either through Netflix or Amazon Prime) I will get an error message that reads something along the lines of:  "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."  Basically the blue screen of death.  It's incredibly frustrating because I've been happy with Lenovo products in the past.  I'm also not a huge fan of Windows 10 and while I don't blame Lenovo for the changes Microsoft keeps making, these new changes coupled with the constant blue screens of death on a brand spanking new computer have made me a very unhappy customer.  Because of the changes with Windows, I'm not familiar at all with how to troubleshoot this problem (or even where to start) to see if there is something wrong with my laptop hardware or if it's a driver error.  If I can I'd like to try to understand how to find out what...
