Touch buttons (mute, volume down, volume up, onekey theatre, star and moon) doesn't work in Z370

Question: Touch buttons (mute, volume down, volume up, onekey theatre, star and moon) doesn't work in Z370

Hi guys! Just got my Lenovo Ideapad Z370 and very happy with the looks and performance, but one thing is really annoying me since I got it.The touch buttons above F9-F12 keys never worked. Since the first time I turned on the notebook they just lie there, completely off, with no lights and no function at all.I tried to reinstall the drivers, the onekey theatre soft and a bunch of suggested drivers in this forums and still have no clue how to fix it. Someone can help me?Thanks,Gui

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

usually upgrading graphic card causes this. have you updated the drivers? have you tried to re-install power management?

Hello I have an idea pad Z570 with windows 7 64 bit. Recently the thermal management, one key theater, mute and volume dedicated buttons stopped working. I have tried updating from the drivers and software from the drivers page unstalling and reinstaling from the drivers in the webpage and and from lenovo unit D. I do not have a restore point that can be old enough to restore the the system. Do you have any ideas of how can I enable the dedicated buttons again? Thank you very much for your help in advance.

The mute and volume buttons often don't work and I must manually mute or change the volume through the operating system.  Once I do that then they start working again.  Not sure about the mic button because I don't use it.  This has happened since I got my X220 and the updates have not fixed the issue.

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my Hp DV9823CL. The quickplay and dvd buttons work, but the volume and mute buttons do not. This is what I sent HP:

problem description : I did a clean install of Windows 7. Prior to the clean install all quickplay buttons worked fine. Now the quickplay and the dvd buttons work, but the volume and mute buttons do not work.
troubleshooting : I reinstalled quickplay, as well as the quick play buton drivers that are listed. I also did a troubleshoot that worked once when I removed the battery and put it back in. This also does not fix the problem.

This is what their repsonse was:

Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.
Scott, as I was checking your notebook?s specification I found that your notebook was shipped with Windows Vista. Your notebook is not upgradable to windows 7 as there is no driver available your notebook?s driver page. Your notebook is design to perform its best in Windows Vista. So I request you to get back to the original operating system.

Goodnight fellow toshiba users,

I presently own a Satellite A505-S6973 serie laptop.

My problem; I have the laptop configured to automatically download and install windows updates. I can't recall when the last update was but now both the mute and eco utility touch buttons doesn't work. I searched through the laptops configuration mode and found a tab where I can register the buttons to active when i press mute and eco,, but my problem is i don't know when browsing where to find the application to register the buttons too.

location of the configuration mode - FN (function) button, select the man icon, then select the button icon. That's when a prompt opens - Toshiba Button Support.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what to do, because i really like this laptop and features included, and would appreciate having everything configured and working once again.

Thanks.

Answer:Satellite A505-S6973 - mute and eco utility touch buttons doesn't work

Hi

> but my problem is i don't know when browsing where to find the application to register the buttons too.

From my knowledge some apps were placed in c:/Program Files/Toshiba/TBS
But this was a case on Toshiba notebooks with preinstalled Vista OS.

However, fact is that VAP (value added package) controls the Toshiba Multimedia Buttons. I recommend reinstalling the VAP and the Toshiba eco Utility

PS: this unit belongs to Toshiba US series? you need to use this page in order to get the software for this series;

Answer:Volume buttons doesn't work

Welcome to the forum!

Try booting from a "live" Linux CD, such as Mint

http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=92

If the problem persists there, we're looking at a hardware malfunction.

If the sounds works OK in Mint, there's a driver problem/conflict within Windows.

Good luck.

Hello, I have an X1 Yoga and just noticed that the volume rocker (the physical buttons on the right side of the computer) don't seem to work when my lid is closed.  When the lid is open, the rocker works great.  But not otherwise. I have tried playing music from both Spotify and Youtube.  Both sources of audio don't work.  (Not sure if that's relevant, but just thought I'd mention it.) If there are any other X1 owners out there (Yoga or Carbon; I believe they're very similar), could you please test this out?  I normally adjust volume with the Fn keys (with the lid open, obviously) so I didn't notice this issue until today.  I was just trying to listen to music with the lid closed for the first time today when I noticed the problem. Thanks!

I know this is a regular topic, but I'm still having a problem. I mistakenly plugged my T-61 into a docking station that had an IBM Rapid Access keyboard attached, Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2. My volume and mute buttons no longer work. I removed, rebooted and reloaded the Hoykey driver with no luck, OSD and Magnifer. Also compared the keyboard driver with another T-61, seem to be the same. The actual buttons are fine because they do work with a different XP configured hard disk. Can someone tell me what driver is used for these buttons? Thanks

Hello to everybody,I just installed Win 7 Ultimate on my R61. Everything is working fine except for the volume and mute hotkeys. When I press them, the On screen display always shows, but sometimes they work, sometimes nothing happens and the green sound indicator is just flashing like itīs trying to do something and sometimes they act just weirdly. Sometimes when I hold the mute button for a longer time, it finally reacts correctly, but more often the sound turns on for a fraction of a second and then switches spontaneously to mute again. I tried everything, have (I hope) all the correct drivers, the Lenovo Update and drivers utility says everything is OK, I have even upgraded Bios. Any ideas? Thanks a lot:-)

Yesterday I reinstalled Windows 7 on my notebook PC. I had to use a Microsoft installation disk because unfortunately, serious errors resulted after I installed from the HP recovery program. Consequently the HP drivers that were installed automatically with the recovery program weren't installed on my system. I had to install several of them from the HP support site. I got everything to work except for the Touch volume control, or the Volume Scroll Zone as referred to by HP in the service guide. This is the device located just above the keyboard that increases or decreases speaker volume when you drag you finger on it. I installed the Quick Launch button driver but that only applied to the mouse and pointer touchpad. I looked at the devices listed in my startup configuration. I saw the synaptics pointing device and the HP quick launch buttons listed. So is the IDT PC audio driver.  What am I missing? Where I can I find it to activate the touch volume control?

Suddenly the mute and volume buttons on my T400 have been acting strangely. Whenever I hit the decrease or increase volume button the volume goes up by 2 points and not 1 like usual. It's like I'm hitting it twice. Therefor I can't use the mute button since when I hit the button it acts as I hit it twice so the mute goes off right away.I've tried uninstalling and installing the Lenovo Systems Interface driver for Windows 7 but no luck. This used to be fine, I don't know what happened. Here's a video of me decreasing and increasing the volume with the buttons and in the end I'm trying to use the mute button. You can probably get a better idea of what I'm trying to say by watching the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdRFUKAy8CI ** EDIT:Problem solved. Downloaded CCleaner for Win 7, ran registry scan and fixed issues reported.Installed the systems interface driver again (did not uninstall, just overwrote what had already been installed), restarted and that did the trick. Decided to keep this thread instead of deleting it if someone will ever run into similar troubles.

Hi,I've used the BIOS on my x230t to enable the FN lock function.  I'm currently running Win 7.  If I double-press the Fn key, it locks the Fn fucntion and allows me to press only f8 and f9, for example, to increase and descrease brightness.  I like this a lot.  However, if I activate Fn Lock,  the Volume and Mute hardware buttons no longer work!  This seems very strange.  Is there a reason this is happeneing?  Is there a way to fix it?  Thanks for your help.  I would really like to get this working, so both my dedicated buttons and my Fn buttons work with ease.

I've been having some trouble lately with the dedicated volume control and Onekey theater buttons on my Z570 laptop not working. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The problem seems to be getting progressively worse -- a few weeks ago I could fairly consistently get them to start working again by putting the laptop in sleep mode and closing the lid, then waking it up again. Now, however, that trick rarely works. The buttons still light up (most of the time -- they have gone dark on a few rare occasions), they just don't respond sometimes. I suspect it may be a matter of physical damage, since remember a time a couple months ago when I had it in my backpack and accidentally set it down a bit roughly, and I've since noticed parts where it looks like the outer casing is slightly warped/bent and doesn't line up right at the seams. However, I would like to see if there are any fixes I could try to rule out software-based issues before looking into potentially costly repair/replacement of damaged hardware.

Answer:Z570 - Volume control and Onekey theater buttons not working

kindly reinstall onekey theatre software and SRS premium sound enhancement software, then also check in task manager (process tab) whether the following process is running or not1) OneKeyStudio.exe2)Onekeysupport.exe if its not running then check your startup programs from start->run->msconfig->startup tab see whether these programs are enabled in startup. I dont think there will be a hardware problem, reinstalling these softwares should work.

HI All,     So when I first got the the SL410, I was quite annoyed by the capslock indicator. I can't remember what I did, but I got rid of the indicator, along with the functionality of the volume/mute/mic buttons to the side of the keyboard. I'd like them to work again, but I can't remember what I did. Did I delete a registry value? Stop a service? I'm running windows 7. I tried downloading the new "hot key" manager and this did not work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!julius

Answer:Volume/Mute/Mic Buttons, on screen display not working on SL410.... my fault! How to restore?

Ok, so I downloaded the System Update app. Now I've got on screen notifications, but the volume/mute/mic buttons still don't work... thoughts?

Hi, The mute key (the far left onekey just above the keyboard that lights up) keeps randomly switching the sound on and off without me touching it. It is makes the laptop almost completely useless for playing any multimedia. Please can you help me with this..... I have tried resetting the bios to the default settings. I have a feeling it may be a hardware problem - if this is so could you please tell me how to just disable all the one keys as this would certainly solve the problem. Any help much appreciated, J

Hello, I seem to be having an issue with the soft touch buttons at the top of my keyboard that change/mute the volume. Without any influence the sound regularly mutes or unmutes, increases or decreases in volume. The icon appears as if I have pressed the soft key buttons, however I haven't. I have no idea why it is doing this or how I can stop it, either by fixing the error or by disabling the buttons, so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks,Steve

how can I turn these off as I dont want to accidently mute when I'm DJing Ben

Answer:Volume Touch Buttons

hi DJBenHunt,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

    As per this article
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Y470-touch-keys-do-not-work/ta-p/880547

The touch keys are controlled by Lenovo Power/Energy Management.

You can try uninstalling this under your Control Panel -> Programs and Features

Lenovo Power/Energy Management also controls your Fn+keys (If you don't have the hotkeys)
so after un-installation you can try tapping the function  keys(F1-F12) like brightness and volume adjustments as it may be affected as well.

In any case you want to put the Software Back on your computer
You can get it from www.support.lenovo.com under Drivers and Software.

Hope this helps

I've got a cordless logitech iTouch keyboard. When I hit the button button on the keyboard, it mutes the "master volume". However WAV volume seems to overwrite the master volume. Meaning if I have an mp3 playing you can still hear it even though master volume is mute.

Strange I know, but it's true.

Sound card is onboard: Intel 82801BA/BAM AC' 97

I've got latest drivers from Logitech, but problem still occurs with different keyboard.

Answer:Muting master volume doesn't mute all?

Hi:

I have the same problem. WAV volume level is used instead of master volume. It does not matter if I use my laptops volume buttons or adjust the volume with the volume control in the Control Panel.

My sound is processed using an ALi Audio Accelerator.

If anyone can help with this it'd be super.

Croque.

I wiped down my newer Y570 with LCD screen cleaner, and when I wiped across the touch sensitive volume buttons they started to freak out. On screen the volume adjustment panel came up and it is staying there with the volume rapidly changing up and down ever so slightly and on a loop. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Energy Management drivers as well as restarting multiple times and it just comes right back up like that as soon as it boots. All the Fn key's work, but not that touch sensitive strip, its stuck on an endless loop of up and down. Anyone have any ideas, other than disabling the EM software? I like my touch buttons and want to avoid disabling them all together.

Occasionally, but moreso when my laptop is not on a desk, the touch panel buttons (mute, lower volume, raise volume, onekey theater mode, thermal management mode) will activate themselves without me having touched them. I have had this laptop for around 1-1.5 weeks now, and this problem is rather bothersome when listening to music, or playing a game.

and possibly other Y models. Last week my hard drive began to fail to the point where I could not use lenovo restore on my windows 7 system. I installed a fresh windows 7 on a new hard drive, but I could not get the touch buttons below the screen to work, after many hours of reading threads here, and trying different methods.  I was able to access my old drive enough to see what versions of synpatics, energy management, and one key theater I had on my old windows installation. I found that they were old drivers I had not updated from late 2010-2011, and two of them were even windows xp drivers that lenovo had used on my windows 7 system. I decided to try to find these old drivers and install them to see in the same combination would result in my touch keys working, and sure enough, my keys are working now.  Energy Management- version 5.4.2.2 6/20/2011One Key Theater- IN12STW42WW5.exe file name  Dec 2010Synaptics- version 15.1.0.23 12/02/2010 I have uploaded these 3 files which I found on some old lenovo support pages and a driver download database. First uninstall energy management, one key theater, and synaptics from your system. Volume and Mute buttons do not work with Windows 7

Try the Vista Drivers
Many hardware drivers for Vista will work for Windows 7.

I think HP uses a program to monitor the "extra" buttons like volume, play, mute, etc. Try the Vista version of that program for your laptop.

Also, look at the specs for a later version of your laptop that HP is selling with Windows 7, see if a newer version of that program is available for the newer PC and try it.

I used the drivers for newer model Dell Inspirons when I upgraded my 6000 to Vista, some worked, some did not. you may have to try several versions to get one that works ri... Read more

Hello, I am looking at an issue with a Z570 that the volume up/down and mute buttons that are above the keyboard don't work any longer. Troubleshooting Done so far:1, Reboot2. Windows and Lenovo updates(OneTheater, Energry Management, and audio drivers updated with full reboot. Neither have resolved the issue. This was working prior and then in the last 24-48 hours is when I noticed the failure.I did notice that it worked prior on an Ubuntu 13.04 live usb so I will be trying that tonight. The [FN] + UP/Down/Left/Right do work to adjust both the volume and brightness and I do get a display. I have verified that it isnt the display just not popping up  by opening the volume and viewing the slider there to see if it adjusts like it did previously. I will update this thread with results from live usb testing.

I  have the same problem in my SL400, did the same things, called the same people and received the same response. Someone in Lenovo shall be looking in the HK driver to find out what is wrong with it. It will start working alright but after some updates and installations it just stops working. I have read many many threads in this site on people (CUSTOMERS) complaining about the same exact things. It seesm that there are programs that may interfere with this operation of the Volume keys. Againg I encourage Lenovo to seek a solution to this problem other than RESTORE the FACTORY build, as I was told. If any one have an idea, other that the one above or reloading the latest HK DrIvers please let me know. Rafael

Hi,

My Dell Studio has just crashed and wont restart. The mute and volume up buttons are flashing and the volume down button is solidly lit. I could not find the diagnostic code when searching the internet. I could find pretty much every other diagnostic code apart from this one.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Answer:Dell Studio 1535 wont start. Blinking mute and volume up button, solid volume down button.

Hi Andy,
Welcome to Dell community!
As you have correctly pointed out, the diagnostic code that you have mentioned is not among the codes available to isolate the failure for a Studio 1535 laptop. The closest code is: blinking Mute LED and Volume up LED, and an off Volume down LED which is for USB controller initialization failure. Disconnect any external devices connected and try powering on the computer.
Reseating the memory modules too can help us. Please refer the following link for the Studio 1535 service manual for instructions: http://bit.ly/10PrLgH
If issue persists, the laptop’s motherboard has to be replaced. Refer the following link to check the computer’s warranty status: http://dell.to/10pMa86

Hello, I have been experiencing problems with the volume buttons on my laptop, minus the mute button, which always works (lights up when the speakers on my computer are muted). The drivers for it seem to be super glitchy or something, because the volume buttons can work sometimes--but once they stop working, they stop permanently. Let me explain what I mean by "work": The buttons still DO control computer volume, it's just that my computer screen used to show that I was pressing the volume buttons, and adjust the volume by + or - 10% (now, it only changes it by 1%). I assume this is some sort of software attached to the driver... however, it stopped functioning. The last time I had it stop working I had installed a tablet input driver immediately prior to it. Last time I was able to uninstall/reinstall the RealTek audio driver which fixed the problem, but it seems to be by chance that I am able to fix it. I've done this at least twice already, and it still hasn't fixed my problem. Can someone help me out here? Thanks! Lenovo Ideapad Y550PWindows 7 64-bit

Hello sevenforums,
I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.

A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

Hello all!  I am having some issues with the three volume buttons on the left-hand side of the SL500 laptop. I work for a school system and over the summer we moved to a new, Windows-based networking system.  Doing this required us to have to install a fresh copy of Windows XP.  When we went through this process with out SL500 laptops, when later realized that the volume up, volume down and mute buttons on the to the left of the keyboard no longer work.  Now, the sound itself works fine and we're still able to lower, raise and mute the volume using the Volume option in the system tray, but for convienence purposes, it would be nice to get these external buttons working again. We've double-checked to make sure all the necessary drivers have been installed but the problem persists.  Has anyone else had this problem?  If so, were you able to resolve it somehow?  These laptops are running Windows XP Professional SP3. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I don't know what I did but they don't work any more.

I tried installing the 'value added package' but that didn't fix the problem, unless I did it wrong.
Its not a huge issue, but I miss them. Help please?

I'm not very tech savvy, so anything else you need from me in order to help?

Answer:Satellite C855-1TC - brightness and volume buttons don't work

Hi

It seems that the notebook was preinstalled with Windows 8 64bit system.

Do you still use the Win 8?
Some month ago, the new Win 8.1 has been released by MS.
I would recommend you to upgrade the Win 8 to Win 8.1 following exactly the step by step instruction by Toshiba
http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/

After the Win 8.1 upgrade you will need to update and install all the Toshiba Win 8.1 drivers.

I guess after that the function keys will work ok.

Answer:Flex 14 side volume buttons dont work

Hey thereI purchased a y580 a little while back, installed my own SSD with the OS, updated all the drivers from the y580 page and ran Windows Update.  The Onekey theater button no longer works and the speaker button doesn't light up now like they did before.I've uninstalled Energy Management many times and reinstalled it and it's the same thing.Pressing the Onekey Theater button does nothing.  Pressing the speaker button causes the system to mute and display the Lenovo mute/unmute logo at the bottom right but it will not light up.

Hello.

I was just wondering if I could make the Volume up and Volume down touch buttons compatible with my AIMP3 Media Player software.

I tried to press them, only to realise it just controls the overall Windows volume.
I tried assigning the buttons to the Hotkey list in the software. But it keeps messing with the Windows volume.

Any idea how to fix this so it works only with my Player volume?

My OS is Windows 7 64-bit

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know you cannot ?fix? it. These buttons are for Windows volume level only.
But I don?t see why this is so important for. Set volume level in WMP to maximum level and just change Windows level. Generally speaking the result is the same. Or not?

Hi all, Im using X301. Previously it was shipped with the Vista Business. I was entitled for free upgrade to Win7 since the thinkpad was bought after 25th of June 09. The problem started after I successfully upgraded my Vista to Win7 Pro. My Mute/Unmute button was consistently in amber colour (signal for disabled). the volume button also is not working anymore. On the system side, everything was fine. the drivers is working properly.. the windows also is showing the volume is in a good shape. Unfortunately the button on the thinkpad is always on the disabled mode. Ive been searching for a related drivers that i could download and solve the issue. but till now all the softwares and drivers downloaded from lenovo could not solve my problem. any suggestion or comment is highly appreciated. thanks a million

Hi,

First of all I'd like to thank Lenovo for ripping me off for 120$. I call them saying my computer doesnt work well and that some buttons are not working, they dont even care to ask what the problem is they send me to sales and the sales lady books me for 79$ some CDs for OS installation. The OS CD and drivers come home and I call some guy for 3 hours and then reinstall every **bleep** thing and then to see that the buttons and sliderbars still dont work..

Next time when i raise a complaint, this lady from sales again asks me to upgrade to Premium so that they can help me better, and this time its another 120$ more and then after I pay the money boom no response... till today, I have tried calling them if i press 0 for support, it goes to a wait tone music for sometime, then rings and then no response..

I would like to know if Lenovo can fix this issue for me, Lenovo has ripped me off 2 times for absolutely no service and i still havent got my problem rectified... All internet and forum solutions like driver installations etc etc are tried but in vain, is there anything called after sales support with Lenovo? if so plese call me at XXXXX to get me a resolution

Thanks and regards,
Jayakrishna XXXXX

Answer:my volume doesn't work

Try fussing with the system volume controls.. if you look down to the right hand corner in the taskbar, you'll see a speaker icon. Click on it and see if the main volume can go up or not. Hope this helps :)

I have problem with the button one key theatre, power management, and volume My lappie is ideapad y460 i cant use the button since that i use tuneup utilities program :'(

Answer:one key theatre, power management, volume button

Hello mate, Typical, Tuneup wiped some keys in the registry. Open rescue centre in Tuneup and undo what you've done. Otherwise you have to reinstall all the drivers and software damaged. You have to be very carefull with this kind of program. When you don't know how to use it it could do more damages than fixes.

Hey, I just upgraded my windows 98se desktop (Acer Veriton 3300) to windows XP Pro while my laptop is getting fixed, but a very weird problem just came up - The master volume slider in the volume dialog control doesn't do anything - even the mute all button! I have to control volume levels from the "Wave" slider. Very annoying, as the volume hotkeys on my keyboard control the master volume slider only!! I've been googling and http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080724131719AA0JLNM told me to go to services.msc and set Windows Audio to automatic, but it was already on automatic. Any ideas?

Answer:Master Volume Doesn't work

this site, http://forum.soft32.com/windows/Master-volume-control-XP-Home-edition-working-correctly-ftopict298145.html is pretty much what i'm looking at. They even have the same sound card as me - Intel integrated audio.Thoughts?

I've had my Nokia Lumia 521 for about a year now. The volume up button does not work anymore, and the volume down button is starting to go to. Any quick fixes? Sending it in for a fix is a last resort until I know if this problem can be fixed easily.

Answer:My volume up button doesn't work. Help?

Ahem.. That's obviously a hardware issue. So you should probably send that thing in for repair.

I have bought Inspiron I5558 signature edition 5 months back.My speakers are not working after it reaches 50 percent of volume till then they will work fine. I uninstalled and installed new audio drivers but problem is not solved. Please help....

Answer:Speakers doesn't work after certain volume

Hi kash2528,
I would suggest you to update BIOS and reinstall the audio driver on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the audio card.

In the search box, Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Sound, video and game controllers listed and expand it.
You should find Realtek High definition audio or audio controller please right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After uninstallation please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section and audio driver from audio section onto the system and install it.

Please let me know if this helps.

Hi everyone,I had the hard drive replaced recently in my G580 (Windows7) and everything is perfect except this one thing. I use the Volume: FN/down and FN/up a lot. It's very awkward that I can't see the volume setting any more. I know I can use the volume control in the tray but that is too slow to use in a live muic situation.btw the Fn/brightness also works but doesn't show the settings. Is this a setting that has gone awry that I can easily change?I've seen posts about the FN not working at all but nothing about it owrking but just not being visible. Thanks for any help.

I cleaned my laptop buttons on right near screen that operate speaker vol on /off with moist cloth. Now the speaker sound buttons wont disappear from screen, and the buttons dont wonk on the laptop? I plug in external speaker and it works but vol and off button dont work with external speakers. The buttons are just depressions, so no moisture got to motherboard. When no external speakers on it blasts because no control of vol. All the speaker buttons in mixer and in properties vibrate and wont click off. I removed the realtech driver from control panel and reinstalled drivers but it still appears on desktpo and wont respond to desktop commands? Note: I can remove the speaker sound from screen thru taskbar but it returns after reboot.

Hi

Did you install the OS using the Toshiba recovery disk?
If not; what OS did you install?

Is it Win XP?
If yes you should reinstall firstly the Common Modules and then the Controls and Utilities
