I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I've been looking around for a new computer for home, one that the wife can play around with, I can play a game or two, and possibly some CAD drafting. I've been looking very hard at the Y560 and looks like a pretty nice system for the components on it. I'm seeing some issues with BSODs and graphics issues. How bad is it really? Anything I should be ready for besides removing all the Bloatware?

Answer:About to purchase Lenovo IdeaPad Y560

If you like gaming, this system will do just enough. It can't play the newer games on medium-high leaving you wanting an upgrade, which isnt possible. Building a custom gaming tower is way better, and upgradable at any time. i7 on y560 is the cery first edition that came out, and Im the kind of guy who wants the very best, the very newest, even if I don't need it. Y560p is probably a better choice, cause the new one, which comes out in 7/?/11, will cost $900, but again, a custom computer will always be more powerful. Also, my y560 heats up beyond 150°F which is around the limit your graphics card frys. And the fan cools both i7 together with the graphics card which is a really... really bad idea. I have to sit next to a portable fan because the room gets so hot. Alienware should cost around the same price, though I think you would be paying a whole lot for a metal encased picture of an alien head...

Hello, I purchased a Lenovo Y560 in March of last year and after the wear and tear of taking it around to my university classes over the past year, the laptop hinges have loosened because the frame has broken. If I open up my laptop more than halfway, the screen goes black, and the laptop freezes/turns off. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because I could simply get it fixed at a computer repair shop, but after going to one, I was told that they lacked a suitable frame because parts for a Lenovo Y560 were rare and specific (i.e. you simply couldn't use the frame from a different laptop as a substitute, according to the shop you need a Y560 frame to replace it), As a result, I've registered here to ask whether anyone knows where I can find a Y560 frame for purchase sothat my laptop can be fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,I just bought 4GB DDR3 RAM for my Lenovo Ideapad Y560 laptop. Before, I have 2GB+1GB DDR3 RAM, so I think the new one will be okay. After plugging it in, I can't boot my Windows 7 OS. I can't boot installation of Windows 7 OS. I can't boot even memtest86.Can someone help me with that? What can I do with that?Normal launching (1)?Normal launching (2)?Memtest86?Safe Mode/repairing startup?BIOS with 4GB inside?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 upgrading RAM

Hi hyperxd ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the product RAM specification :
4GB or 8GB std / 8GB max7 ; PC3-up to 1333MHz DDR3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

Recommended RAM upgrade as per hardware manual FRU listing for 4GB (page 85) :
13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, SAM M471B5273CH0-CH9 DDR3 1333 4GB  Part number : 11011934 13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, HMT351S6AFR8C-H9 N0 ((Rev Orion /2Gb/54nm)) Part number : 1101151313 DDRIII 1333 4GB, ELP EBJ41UF8BAS0-DJ-F DDR3 1066 4GB Part number : 11011867

Do you have the same specification as indicated above?
Would that be the same issue when it is on the lower slot 0 ?

Note: If only one DIMM is used on the computer you are servicing, the card must be installed in SLOT-0 ( a : lower slot), but not in SLOT-1 ( b : upper slot) (page 41).

Update us how it goes.

Hello!I have a weird problem with my Ideapad Y560 laptop (2 years old). I was wondering if any of you have a similar problem, and am seeking a possible solution. As soon as I start the laptop up (either from a shutdown state, or a sleep state), it's very slow for about the first 3 - 4 minutes. Nothing really works or opens, it freezes for a while, and executes my mouse/keyboard inputs with a significant lag. After this 3 - 4 minute period, it works perfectly fine, responds as good/crisp as the lappy was brand new. I am unable to figure out why it behaves this way.  I hardly ever shut the laptop down, and usually just put it to sleep. However, I have this problem (as described above) whether I switch the lappy on from a shutdown or a sleep state alike. Has anyone seen this before? Could someone please suggest possible solutions? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Good morning everybody,

I have bought my laptop 1 year ago and everything was going ok, i installed many programs (Adobe illustrator) and games (PES2011) and many others and i faced no problems.
One day, my cousin used the laptop to watch a new movie but he forgot to charge the battery during that time until the laptop shuts down alone due to empty battery.
On the next day, i tried to power on my laptop it starts normally until it reached the Windows 7 logo it automatically shuts down. I tried again for several times with the same result then a blue screen with white writings on it was displayed on the screen (harddisk failure).
I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

I make the following points to try to restart the laptop but always with the same result:
1- Remove the new HDD and then insert it
2- Remove the Rams and then insert them
3- Remove the battery and then insert it.

Hello Hasan and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please forgive me but I'm a little confused. You say:

- Are you replacing the original laptop hard drive with the new Toshiba or is the Toshiba an external USB hard drive?
- Are you trying to clean install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 to the original laptop hard drive or to the new Toshiba?
- Where did you get the ISO file for Windows 7 Ultimate?

As i have poster a few weeks ago, my fan started to vibrate violently. i immediately googled for a new fan and asked local lenovo retailer to check with the service about the price.few days ago, i got an answer. price was waay to high for a fan - 40$ both online and from service guys. so, thinking i would need to buy it anyways, i pushed my luck, opened the laptop and removed the fan.I ripped the black fan thing out of it housing and it seems that's the right way to do it.put some sewing machine oil in it and since then, no vibrations, no noise, like new. knock on wood. now other problems:fan is too slow.it's somehow limited, so if graphic card is not overheating, it will cool the cpu only to a preselected point. about 60% fan power is a limiter for cpu. cpu gets to ~82-3°Cif you are stressing gpu as well, fan will work till max 80% fan speed. and system will overheat and freeze considering that at that point, cpu is over 90°C. gpu maxxes out at about 74-5-6°C so, that needs to be fixed by fan controller update, not by a laptop cooler or anything consumer-replaceable.vents are clean, no dust there. other issue. when on battery and stressing system, cpu will not run at max frequency. it gets stuck around 1.8ghz. when plugged, it's 2.1 (i330m)lenovo and windows powerplans are set, so i thing there is not enough power or smtng?  i did the stressing by furmark for gpu and aida64, stressing only fpuwindows 7 x64bios 71 (did try modified bios 7... I've recently notice unexpected shutdown in my newly purchased lenovo ideapad y560.I bought this laptop about 1 month or 2 ago. At first, i thought i might have pressed the shutdown button by accident or something, but then i made sure i changed what the power buttons do so that it does not shut down if i press it.  Then when it happened again a few weeks ago, i thought it was that my bios were not updated and that some of my drivers were not up to date either, so i updated the bios to the most current version and made sure all drivers were updated. Things were fine till this morning, when I was merely typing in word document, and the only other program were firefox and stickynotes, my laptop suddenly shutdown as if the power went out, however, it was connected to the charger and the battery was at almost 100% capacity.  What should I do in this situation?

i am very frustrated & disappointed to buy this product Ideapad Y560 as just after 1 year, the laptop went dead and when i sent it for repair, i was informed that it needed a new MotherBoard !!? which is half its price..then i discovered that many people who bought this specific laptop suffer the same problem... the Motherboard need to be replaced even before 1 year ... and the cause which might cause it according to some people is the overheating of the motherboard !! obviously QA of this product was not done at all.... Hi, I am a bit naive on this subject. I own a lenovo ideapad y560 and have been sleeping with hell since then. I got my main board replaced two times, because of bsod, not starting, too much over heating and infinite other display problems.Right now, my laptop experiences bsod every five mins and sudden black out even more frequently, I dont know how healthy that is for the hard disk and others. I am still under warranty. I have difficult time understanding whats going on regarding this and someone please take time to clarify few questions of mine. 1. what does switchable graphics mean? I dont know what mine is. 2. will unofficial drivers improve the performance and reduce the problems? If so, can someone provide the LATEST link for the same and a simple guide for the same? There have been too many threads on this subject and its confusing, so a sticky thread with the latest info would help people. 3. Another sticky thread with latest official drivers and display and heating issues is very helpful. Also, I find that the plastic used for this one is pathetically weak. 4. I have updated bios, display drivers and rest to the latest, still the problem continues. Because this model has severely failed, has lenovo offered any replacement or take back in good spirit? Lenovo hasn't updated the drivers since march of 2011, Ati doesn't care to address these issues. My 3 year old Lenovo Y560 i5 laptop won't charge When I power it on with battery in it everything works normally, but when I plug in charger nothing happens. I checked charger and it works fine, it's output is stable 20V. When I take off the battery, and try power the laptop with charger only, LED indicators light up for half a second and nothing happened. With battery in, laptop closed and charger plugged in, battery LED indicator blinks orange, about 3 seconds on and 10 off, without charging battery even after several hours. I didn't have problem with jack for charging so far, so I think it isn't cause to a problem. I tried a trick with holding the power button for 30 seconds and it didn't work. Does anyone have similar problem or at least any idea of how to fix this issue?

Just after 1 year of owning my Lenovo Ideapad Y560, apparently the motherboard is toast: no power comes to the board at all. The repair shop said that they have seen about 75 of these come through that burned themselves up. They say that the only remedy is to replace the motherboard and then run it with a cooling device only. Why didn't Lenovo specify this when I purchased the laptop?  I've always been careful to run it on a hard surface that allows ventilation. Did you guys do any QA when you designed and manufactured the thing?  What remedy is there for this problem? Just to alert other consumers? Am I just hosed on this?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 Fries Itself -- Motherboard Toast

Smoldering, I myself have a Y560 and had some video problems in the first few months of having it. But since then I'm thankful my PC has been fine. I have seen many others complain of heating problems and most seem to either buy a cooler or reapply new artic silver. Do you have the 2 year warranty? Or just the basic 1 year? If still under warranty contact customer service and have them repair it. As for Lenovo and poor quality control, every manufacture has the same problem. They all come from China. Good luck in getting your PC back up and running.

hi, this lenovo not only freezes when i'm playing a game, but when i'm using word as well. Some marks appear in the screen and i can't do anything else, just shut it down. I checked the temperature and it seems to be ok, i know is not the screen because if i connect other monitor it freezes as well.

When i restart the screen is usually full with marks since before it gets to windows, even if i try to get to the bios. And if i connect another monitor the same, so i know is not the screen. i have no warranty, and i've seen lots of posts with similar problems, i try their solution but it doesn't work (things like clean the fan to decrease temperature etc) it freezes even with 50C

this is the screen when it freezes

then when i restart it

and after that it never loads windows, usually ends up in a screen like this

Please help!, and thanks

Hi. I got a Lenovo Ideapad y560 and completely messed up my monitor. The hardware is fine but i was playing around with it a little bit and clicked an option custom split screen and now I can only see a weird pattern now (I didn't have a second monitor plugged in. Maybe that caused it?). I will atach a picture so you can see for yourself. I can still see my mouse and move it arund and everything else seems to work perfectly but i just can't see anything. I tried rebooting and after the login screen it returns to the pattern. I can still launch normally in safe mode without any problems.
If you have a solution please let me know.

Hey guys, I have a Y560 and am also an avid gamer. Whenever I play a game, my laptop freezes, makes a buzzing noise, and the only thing I can do from that point is to shut down my computer. This happens at random, and has happened anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Games will occasionally freeze and flash a black screen as well.

i have a y470 but it could be different for you..there are 2 main partitions (the C and D drive (or partition) )..the D partition should contain all the drivers bundled with the laptop (factory drivers)...When I fresh installed ultimate on my y470 i had the same issue..the resolution has to do with an intel or nvidia (ati in your case driver) video driver being missing... i just installed every driver from that "D" partition apart from the bloatware and it worked...if you dont have that partion, i suggest you visit lenovo's site and download the video drivers for your ideapad...hope this helps.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 710 Network Adapter

You'll need a USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet adapter (the Yoga 710 doesn't have USB C support). Here's a good option: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B00ET4KHJ2

Hi guys! Just wanted to know if any of you have tried to use a Intel 8260-AC Network adapter on Lenovo y50-70. I know its not whitelisted because the card is pretty new however, do you guys know if its blacklisted?  Lenovo Y700 which is the new version of Y50-70 uses 8260-AC. I currently use: Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC - Which is horrible, and was considering Intel 7260 AC, but why not 8260 AC if it works.  Thank you!

Hello everyone! I have a ugly situation here. Well last night I was catching up on one of my tv shows on Hulu when suddenly my laptop shut off and it would not turn on anymore. None of the status leds in the front flashed or anything. Then about 20 minutes later I noticed that my ac adapter blue status light was blinking rapidly. I have already tried all the methods posted about removing the battery and powercycling and all that stuff and have had no success. I was wondering if anyone has any input on this situation or anyone that has gone thru this and has found a solution. Thanks your help and guidance will be much appreciated.

So I'm currently in the process of trying to order myself a new AC Adapter for my Lenovo Ideapad, but my issue is finding the correct AC Adapter for my computer. I've spent three or four hours trying to find the correct one, yet the one Lenovo list on their website with the Ideapad 700 series (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/888015027/460/B5F03F2D7A74472998C11037ACE71BFB?sb=:000001CC... has the incorrect part number. The part number on my AC Adapter is 5A10J46690, the one Lenovo lists to buy is 888015027, what I need to know (Which I can't figure out) is whether or not this is the same AC Adapter as the one I have currently, which does not work. Seeing as I can't find a single adapter matching the part number of my current one. To clarify slightly, my laptop is the Ideapad 700-15ISK Type 80RU00APUS. Apologies if I picked the wrong category for this, I'm new to the forums and majorly need the help.

What i have tried: the keyboard is also unresponsive, bcz i held down a bunch of keys to see if it makes the beep noise. I closed the laptop lid to see if it goes into hibernation and waited 3 mins to see if it still does, so that when i open it i can see everything (it has worked before). nothing. i rebooted a bunch of times even with a second screen attached, tried to guess switch into projector mode with my function key and switch s... Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 "black screen in boot up after windows 7 logo"

Sounds like a corrupted file system, so try running chkdsk.

How to run System File Checker (SFC) or chkdsk from the Recovery ConsoleBoot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run SFC or chkdskIf you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above).

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

Hello,I have 3 quick issues.  I own a Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 laptop, which I recieved in December of 2013. When I first turned it on, everything worked, except that a screen popped up that says that the adapter is not fully capable of charging the laptop, and had a hyperlink to open  a windows to buy another battery/charger. Which I didn't particularly care for, until I went to the website. After looking around, I realized that there was, in fact, no available adapter/charger/battery to purchase for the Z510. After owning for several months, it no longer appears every time I turn it on. However, it will sporadically reappear and I wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem. When I turn my laptop off, it says that some programs are still running, and proceeds to show me what appears to be a picture of a blank window (it has no identification stating what the program is). I cancel the shutdown, but everytime I look for the program, I can't seem to find it. After scouring the internet, I have concluded that the said program is Intel Services Manager. I am unsure how to either uninstall/turn off the program so that it will stop showing up everytime I try turning my laptop off. Last question!Recently, when I started turning my laptop on, it wouldn't go to the lock screen. (I am running the most up-to-date Windows 8). It shows that black screen with the white Lenovo print, but does not go on from there. Only after I turn off the laptop and hold down th... Read more

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y570, I only recently got it. It has only been a week or so. I am currently on it now. Recently, this problem has been occurring. Whenever I start my laptop, within 2 or 3 minutes of being at the login screen, my laptop freezes, to the point where nothing will work, including the mouse, touchpad or keyboard. This only occurs when it is plugged in with the AC adapter, and no battery pack in. However, I am able to prevent this from happening only when i start my computer with the battery pack, at which point I can unplug the battery pack and plug in the AC adapter. This is a hassle though. What should I do? I haven't tried anything yet, I just wanted to get some advice on the matter before I attempted to use the one key recovery. Thanks.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK, Model 80UD0017US, and would like to purchase a 2nd power adapter as a backup. I saw in the hardware manual that there are several part numbers listed, and the specific ones on my adapter are:45w AC Adapter Model Name: PA-1450-55LLLC P/N: 5A10H42923 In looking for the part online, I saw several on eBay and Amazon with the PA-1450-55LL reference, but at least one seller mentioned that the size of the connectors aren't always the same. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

Question: IdeaPad Y560

I can get the IdeaPad Y560 Laptop - 06462AU for $940 +tax, but I'm having a lot of trouble deciding whether I should buy the Y460 for $890 or the Y560 which has an i7-720qm and 7200rpm hard drive, better for the money. Question: Ideapad y560 Help

Ya, I'm not sure what's wrong with my laptop. It's a y560 with core i7 and 4gb of ram. When I play games on it, it lags a lot (my desktop which is a lot worse than the laptop can run the games way better than the laptop does) and after a while the screen will go black, then it will go back on but be so laggy that the mouse won't move and it will keep doing this until i hold the power button to turn it off. Also, every once in a while the mouse gets really big and will usually stay like that until i turn the laptop off. Also, i tried downloading a video driver driver for the laptop off of lenovo's website and this is what happens: http://img80.imageshack.us/i/messup1.png/First it does that while extracting the files, and it doesn't finish extracting. It always stops at f.jpg.http://img197.imageshack.us/i/messup2.png/Then it does this after i press install.  If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi All I have an ideapad y560 ,When i push the power button it powers up for about for seconds and then power itself off again, sometimes it powers off when the windows is starting up ,sometimes before it , i even pressed f2 to enter the bios setup and then while i am at the setup it powers itself off . I checked the fan and its working well ,i also removed the battery and powered it using the charger only ,and it makes the same behaviour. i noticed that the "one key rescue button" can power the laptop on like the power button ,i don't know that it can do this ,or there's something wrong. I will be very thankful if someone helped me ,i have important work to finish with the laptop and now everything stopped. Thanks in advance Regards, Shady

Hello,  I got my Ideapad Y560 and the USB ports worked initially, but now it's not working anymore. I did a factory recovery on it, but it did not help. Anyone have an idea what's going on?  I checked for the USB drivers, but could not find any on the support/download page. I checked my usb mouse on the other laptops and it works fine, but when I plug it in the Ideapad, it doesn't even register.

You may need warranty service? No drivers for usb should be needed, but if there is a chipsetdriver available from Lenovo for your OS (Win 7?) try that.

hi Joytears_4j,

    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can try to replace the key alone but you have to check where it broke. it could be on the key itself or the clip on the board that holds the key

You can try to call or inquire on this site about getting only a single backspace key.

Answer:Ideapad Y560, ram frequency.

hi Zecik86,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Lenovo Y560 was released with variety of Model configuration such as CPU Configurations
from Minimum configuration to Maximum Configuration for Consumer Choice.

And on Lenovo Reference Manual they indicated that specific detail for consumer use
http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/lipwbook.pdf

also on Intel's website they indicated that on the Memory spec section
IntelŪ Core? i5
IntelŪ Core? i7

If you will check Lenovo's reference manual it's the i7 Proc model I guess is what you should have purchased as it supports up to 1333 Mhz.

Best Regards
Solid Cruver

I was frustrated at the lack of recent help info on putting an SSD in a Y560, specifically.  I know, it's a five year old machine, but still going strong.  So I'm posting this not as a question but how I did it for future reference.  I have the top end i7, 500GB, 8GB RAM Y560.  SSD:  Samsung EVO 850 500GB SATA SSD.  End result, it works like a charm, the SSD sitting in the hdd slot where the factory Hitachi HDD sat. What I did.First, the USB/SATA adapters did not work for me.  I originally tried putting the SSD on SATA adapter.   Was not recognized.  I tried using Acronis True Image to backup full disk to a separate USB HDD, then restore onto the SSD in the machine.  did not work.  I ended up putting the SSD and the laptop HDD in my desktop computer (I have extra bays) then using my Acronis True Image to clone the laptop HDD to the SSD.   Then I put the SSD in the laptop.  Initially would not boot - got bootmgr missing error.  Put the SSD back in my desktop, used Windows disk manager and had to set the system partition as active (not the C drive with the OS).   That fixed it. Booted right up and works great.

Hi I sent my laptop in to Lenovo for the charger not working. When I received it back the case was not assembled correctly, wasn't a big deal, there is a part missing. The slot next to the CD drive near the front is now empty, kind of a bother but nothing to scream about. Tonight I tried to connect my Bluetooth mouse for the first time since getting it back. It appears that I no longer have Bluetooth. I cannot reload the driver (hangs says already have newer) Fn/f5 shows the wireless but no Bluetooth. Device manager comes up empty. Any ideas? I really want to bag on them but I doubt this is the best place for that, But my charger at least works about 1/2 the time now. Thanks in advance

Question: Ideapad Y560 BSODs

I've updated and installed the new bios and I've also updated and installed new video card drivers and new chipset drivers off of the lenovo support.  I've had the laptop for about 2 and a half months but unfortunately it got very little use and was never really pushed until now that it is my primary computer.  It blue screens and crashes after about 15-30 minutes of use that is semi intense... i.e. youtube or a videogame.  Sometimes after a fresh blue screen boot up it'll blue screen again about 5 minutes later. Is there any way to fix this boy or should I start battling with Lenovo to try to get it returned?

Answer:Ideapad Y560 BSODs

re-install flash player or turn off hardware acceleration.

Hi,I am interested in pirchasing the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 in India. But I have some queries regarding the same, hope someone here can help me out ( The people at Lenovo Sales Hotline don't know the difference bw ATI & Nvidia  ) As per the Lenovo India website, Y560 is equipped with Nvidia 240M graphic card , but as per other sites including Lenovo US, Y560 uses ATI 5730. So was there a typo at the Indian site ? Also using the ATI card, IdeaPad Y560 supported switchable graphics (when used with i3 or i5). In case in India, Y560 uses Nvidia 240M instead; will it still support switchable graphics a.k.a. Nvidia HybridPower ?Is warranty extension packages available for Y series in India ? Is the warranty valid internationally or just locally ?Thanks,Vijay

whether to buy Ideapad Y560 is worth or not?? It has a Limited Time offer till july 28th!!!  Whether the new laptop y560 has still the Display problem?? help me!!

Answer:whether to buy Ideapad Y560 is worth or not??

It's a hard one. The computer is very well designed, manufactured. The i7 works great. The 8GB of RAM is amazing. The keyboard is very good. The touchpad is good. The speakers are great. Not too much bass, but... it's ok. But the screen is not good at all.I can live with it... but is not great. The dancing pixels are solved, but some gradients problem still there. The good thing here: Lenovo guys seams are working on a solution. Slow, but working. I can't tell you what to do.Ask me what you would like to know. The thing is... maybe you buy it, and the Lenovo guys told us to send them back to the Warranty Service for a video card replacement or a LCD panel exchange.Maybe... maybe. Also, you don't have to forget, that ALL the computers has its problems. When you talk about the offer, you are talking about this one: http://dealzon.com/deals/lenovo-ideapad-y560-laptop

Hi. I have Lenovo Ideapad Y560. Yesterday, my laptop started to hibernate because of insufficient power. I, by mistake,  pressed the power button again before the laptop hibernated (connected the charger before pressing the power button). Since then, the laptop shows a message "Consider replacing your battery". I read through some of the relevant posts and tried a few troubleshooting methods.  1) The laptop works just fine with the AC power cable alone (battery removed).2) Discharged the battery completely and pressed the power button for 15-30 seconds to drain the remaining power. Inserted the battery, connected the charger, waited for 15 minutes for the battery to charge and then switched it on.3) Installed the latest BIOS driver from the website.4) Charged the battery fully and checked the voltage and resistance as mentioned in the Hardware Maintenance Manual; Voltage = 12.04 V and Resistance = 9.9 Kohms (suggested solution in the Manual is to replace the system board). All the aforementioned does not solve the issue. It still shows the same message. I am not sure on how to proceed now. Also, I checked the Lenovo Energy management console and the battery status reads "Good". It is discharging within an hour (previously, 2.5 hours). All of these seem to happen after I pressed the power button before it hibernated.  Laptop model: Ideapad Y560 (i5 processor)Age: Little less than 2 years Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.&nb... So after several (fruitless) attempts at updating my graphics driver, it seems that my catalyst control center is stuck at version 8.7. Upon reading the specifics of version 10.4 (and above) it seems that "Switchable Graphics enabled notebooks using Intel chipsets." are not supported. am I completely SOL here or am I missing something? Is there a way to disable the switchable graphics to install the update correctly? The CPU fan started making peculiar clicking noises about 3 months ago and eventually stopped spinning. When the laptop is turned on there is about a 1/10 chance it spins on high for a moment before stopping entirely. I presumed this was a hardware issue so I have acquired a replacement fan. When I installed it there was no difference. I've since updated the bios, tested the fans with an independant power source, and upgraded the power management software. What could be causing the fan to work intermittently? The problem is that the CPU overheats and shuts down after ~20 minutes of use. I've looked into other fan posts on this site but nothing seems to address my exact issue (I could have missed something though!) Please help!

hi finalexodus75,as you aware of, it's probably fan issue and in that case, you'll need fan replacement. warranty will cover the replacement, you just need to call lenovo support line to ship it back.hope it helps.

Hello, I need to delete the crappy 71 bios version and go back to 59.Unfortunately, I am not finding the official bios59 64 bit version at the Lenovo website. Its very disappointing that despite heating in 71 being a well known problem, forum messages contain links to shoddy websites such ashttp://www.vdisk.cn/down/index/5398841for downloading this BIOS (just look at the flash advertisement they are showing!!).I am very uncomfortable downloading this and installing as it could be a malware for all I know. I purchased a Y560, due to heat problems had to change battery in 1 year 2 months and the new battery is now down to 50% capacity. Learn something from DELL, IBM about doing business and maintaining quality. Mass production and crappy products is not the best strategy in the long run!! Lenovo folks: Wake up and make this available. Would appreciate a response from Lenovo support staff. RegardsPrithvi

Have you tried doing a system restore and if worse come to worse a recovery? I'm not sticking up for lenovo because I know their service at times leaves a lot to be desired, but before you updated your bios (or any other firmware) you should have created a restore point in windows so as to roll back any ill effects of such an update.

Hi Everyone, I really need some advice and assistance here.I purchased a Lenovo Y560 off Amazon at the end of December 2010. I've had to change the battery twice already as the battery keeps depleating rapidly 1.5 months after the new battery is received. I've updated all the drivers (including the latest BIOS) but this doesn't seem to be working. The battery now lasts half an hour under normal use like web surfing although it's only a few months old at a 80% charge. Here is the laptop specs:http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0040X4NT2/ref=oss_productI am using the Lenovo Energy Management program to keep the screen display at a low level. I only use this laptop for internet browsing and Microsoft applications - that is all. No gaming, etc. It's set to the 80% battery life rate (the battery charges to 80%) to increase the lifespan of the battery (as per Lenovo's suggestions). It's also on Super Energy Saver. I'm using all the energy saving options to it's fullest and not running it in a high power state.I changed the battery twice already and only charge it when it gets to 5%. I never leave it plugged in over it's time. The battery would work well for 1.5 months, then it would begin to only last for 30 minutes at a time. I've noticed that when I have plugged in an HDMI cord into my laptop to my TV a few times to watch a movie off Netflix, a few weeks after, is when the battery starts to act up.Can anyone please offer some suggestions here?  Am I doing anything wrong? An... I recently bought the Y560 and had to return it after a week because there was an issue with the default Windows installation that caused memory failure...something to do with the partitioning...I got the black screen followed by the blue screen.  The store I bought it from replaced it with a new unit and I'm experiencing some serious memory issues again. The comupter freezes when I'm using it to do very low memory operations.  When it freezes, the screen flashes and blinks and I have to force quit.  I'm wondering if there is an easy way to figure out what's wrong with it.  I did a Scan disk check and repair and defrag.  Any other suggestions?

Answer:Adjusting Sharpness on Ideapad Y560.

Specifically, are you talking about pixel blur, or are you talking about a higher resolution? For the first one, use Microsoft's ClearType Tuner to see if it makes a difference:

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/tune.aspx

As for the resolution, I believe the maximum is 1366x768. I haven't tried forcing a different resolution, but I'd advise against it.

Hi everybody,I have been having several issues with my three week old IdeaPad Y560, and I was just hoping for some help. My laptop came with the Core i7 720QM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 and 4GB of RAM.The biggest issue by far is that I can't hibernate the machine. The option is available under the shutdown options, but when I select it, it doesn't hibernate. The screen turns off and the activity indicator LED flashes rapidly for a while, but the machine doesn't actually turn off. When I move the mouse after the activity indicator LED stops flashing, the screen comes back on and shows the logon screen, meaning that all that hibernation does is basically lock the computer. The same thing happens whether I choose the hibernation option from the start menu, close the lid or press the power button. (I set closing the lid and pressing the power button to hibernate under the control panel.) I'm a bit confused because I've never experienced anything like this before. I have upgraded to the latest BIOS version (57) and updated all my drivers, but that doesn't seem to fix anything. Has anyone ever experienced like this before and know a solution?I have had two more issues with the computer, both of which happen after I resume the computer after having put it to sleep. These are minor compared to the hibernation issue, but annoying. The first occurs after a few minutes of using the computer again. The cursor suddenly becomes supersized, stays that way for a few minutes and then revert... Read more

I tried to do presentation by selection duplicate screen when connect to projector, however both prjector and my laptop screen was off and on every few seconds. (Looks like it refresh the screen), when such happens, the message is displayed on the projector screen. (1024x768 @60hz frame lock). 1024x768 is the resolution, and 60hz is the screen refresh rate. I called support team, they adivse me to change the screen refresh rate a bit lower, however another rate is 40hz and I found I could not set to 40hz, everytime when I set to 40hz, it will auto change back to 60hz.

I tried to adjust the screen resolution, and it only works when I set it to 800x600, however in this mode, my laptop screen is only become 1/4 of my original screen and the word is too small to read.

I can only find 1 grahpic adapter on the machine which is ATI Mobility Radeon 5730, I updated the drive to to latest version 8.791.0.0. Hi, my new IdeaPad Y560 just arrived today.  Unfortunately, I've already found a pretty big problem... hope someone has a solution. If I am holding the Up and Left arrow keys, hitting space does nothing.  All other three key combinations seem to work fine, including other combinations using specifically Up, Left, and X where X is any key besides Spacebar.  Up + Right + Spacebar works fine.  This is a big deal since my favorite game requires use of that combination of keystrokes.  Is there an updated keyboard driver or something that will fix this issue? The issue is not application specific... it occurs everywhere. Thank you,Craig
