[IdeaPad Y530]Lenovo please TURN ON VT Support in IdeaPad line.

Question: [IdeaPad Y530]Lenovo please TURN ON VT Support in IdeaPad line.

Hi all,Is there any chance to influence Lenovo about BIOS update wchich would turn on VT support (and some other BIOS settings)? Is there anyone who could pull some strings, whisper few words here and there and get it done I think all IdeaPads owners would greatly appreciate such an update (Anyone agree with me? ).

Preferred Solution: [IdeaPad Y530]Lenovo please TURN ON VT Support in IdeaPad line.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: [IdeaPad Y530]Lenovo please TURN ON VT Support in IdeaPad line.

Call tech support and let them know that it is not acceptable that VT is not supported in the BIOS.

Hi, my name is Ben and i own a 2 year old Lenovo Y530 laptop with windows Vista Home Premium.Everything was working fine, when one day about a month and a half ago, i got the "blue screen of death".Better known as an error code, where your computer crashes.I then proceeded to re-install windows vista, where then it failed to install the updates, and only after a very short amount of time of actually being in the desktop of the computer, it crashed once more, giving the classic error message of it might be something new that was installed, or new hardware, when in reality i didn't install or add/remove any new equipment whatsoever.I bought this Laptop in the US 2 years ago in late 2008, and then moved to Israel. So here is the real problem, after checking the HDD for bugs, or viruses, it was fpormatted, and put back in, also following a system recovery from Lenovos one click recovery system. And found that neither the HDD, or the OS was trhe problem. So since i live in Israel, i sent it to my local Lenovo shop, where they said they do not fix these types of lenovo laptops! So how am i supposed to get to the bottom of this issue? if my local computer lenovo store does not fix my model of computer?I would like an answer ASAP because i need this computer for school and such, and the information that was lost is irrelevant, i would just like the computer to be functioning and stable again.Thank you, and much regards,Ben.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Crashed, not working, no tech support, need expert/lenovo technician advice

To be covered by warranty, your laptop must have IWS (International Warranty Service). That's the only way to get covered. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/UserFiles/IWS/20100909035858_62.htm Best regards.

I have test with a vista 64bits and it's the same problem 2,5Go... I tried to flash BIOS but its protected in write. what can i do?If there is another solution am ok to try.and where can i find all the program LENOVO as lenovo easy capture, eneergy management...? Thank for your answers and sorry for my english

Answer:RAM on Lenovo ideapad Y530

It is not a newsflash that 32bit Windows can't see above 3,5 GB RAM or in rare cases even above 2,5 GB RAM. If you install 4 videocards containing 1 GB videoram each, 32bit windows in theory will not see any RAM at all.But it is unbelievable that 64bit one can't see more. So, it's not about Windows version... What else can limit RAM? BIOS and chipset. What exact model do you own? Try CPU-Z 1,47 to detect chipset. Seems like some low-end models of Y530 are based on GL40 chipset that supports officially only 2 GB of RAM.This is situation just as one with G410 Lenovo laptops - some models are based on GM965 and some are on GL960. Those with GL960 can't take more than 2 GB in theory and more than 2,5 GB in practice.

I've been trolling the forums for a while, and am left with a simple question regarding my specific situation. I have an IdeaPad Y530 with 160 gb hd.  According to Disk Management, I have a C: partition with 105 gigs, a D: (Lenovo) partition with 29 gigs, and an unnamed partition with 15 gigs.  Because I want as much of my HD available to me as possible, I want to erase my D: partition.  I have created recovery disks with OKR.  If I erase my D: partition, will I be able to recover my computer if it experiences a crash by using the recovery disks? Also, anyone know what this third (hidden) partition's purpose is?  Can I somehow unhide it? Thanks!

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Ideapad Y530 - lenovo partition

The answer is simple. No you won't. What I would recommend is the following...... Restore to factory preinstalled state with OneKey recovery partition.Complete the initial configuration. [creating user name and password, naming computer, etc., etc.]***You can uninstall the bloatware at this pointDelete partition for drive "D".Allocate the space to drive "C"Create a backup using OneKey. [within Windows]Burn recovery disks. The reason you have to do this is because changing partition sizes destroys the possibility of recovering with OneKey partition or recovery disks created with OneKey. Hope this helps.

When I turned on the laptop for the second time I saw the battery had about 5 min left. So I decided to plug it into AC power. I got out the cords from the box and plugged them in. Then I plugged the power cord into the laptop. I assumed it was charging but I was wrong. I got a power message and it shut down. Now I can not turn it on because the battery is completely dead and the AC power seems to do absolutely nothing. It won't charge at all. I really need help on what to do.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y530 won't run on AC power

Probably a faulty connection somewhere either on the computer or on the actual power brick. Make sure that when the cable to the wall is plugged in, the word lenovo on the power brick lights up blue. Also make sure that when the computer is plugged into the wall, the middle blue LED on the bottom right of the computer lights up. If both those things light up but it still isn't actually charging, then I think you'll have to send it in to get repaired. Otherwise a new power cable would fix it.

The thing is that I do not know how to make my web camera work.....At the beginning there was this VeriFace scanning my face so I saw that camera was working but nowplease, pleaseee let me know if you know something.....çthanksalicja

Answer:lenovo ideapad Y530 problems with camera

I recently did the same on Y530, Vista to Win 7. I have not set up veriface, or camera, but I see no verifacefor Win 7 on driver page. (Drivers, start HERE) You MAY want to create a Windows restore point, and then try the Vistaversion of the driver and veriface.?? At your risk. Then if there are problems, restore to previous point. I may try this, not sure, since I do not need camera or veriface. If I find out any more, I will update, and you do the same.

I'm currently using the Dell Studio 15, I first purchased this laptop on December 18th with problems right out of the box, then I got an exchange, with problems right out of the box! So I am returning my product and considering to purchase the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530. I'm new to laptops and the Dell I have is my first time buying a computer, considering I had problems right out of the box TWO times I feel that I need to be very picky about what I buy, laptop wise. I like the way it looks, I hear it's nice and sturdy, has a beautiful keyboard and touch pad. The only bad thing I heard as of yet is that the screen is way too mirror like....But my Studio 15 is mirror like when I'm in the garage with the door open and it does not bother me much at all...I'm considering HP and Lenovo, mostly Lenovo. So I was wondering if the IdeaPad Y530 is a good choice for me? What are the COMMON problems? And how much trust can I put into Lenovo and the IdeaPad Y530? If anyone can help I will be very greatfull. Thank you all for the help.

Answer:Should I purchase Lenovo's IdeaPad Y530? I don't know much about computers!

Right now I'm keying for enlarged characters and they are disappearing from this note. If you need a lot of support I find it hard to come by.   It's 64 bit and that seems to cause problems. I got mine last mon from circuit city and now they are out of business. There is a forum but that seem to be pot luck as to ever getting a response.

When I turn on the laptop it is quiet and then after being on for 30 minutes or hour, the fan starts going crazy and making a ton of noise.  The laptop base will also get very hot sometimes all while sitting on a wood table.  I recently upgraded to Win 7 but hd the same issue withVIsta before,  This happens whether the computer is sitting there idle or playing a game.  I don't want to damage my computer and would like less noise, what can I do?

I just recently purchased my new laptop last week and tried installing some software with my CD/DVD drive.  Only to find out that the drive doesn't appear at all. The C: & D: Drive appear as well as my USB drives  but not the DVD drive.  I check my Device Manager and it states a CODE 39.  I shouldn't be having this problem with my new laptop.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Try deleting drivers for your drive and rebbot. After reboot you'll get drivers installed.

Hi All, I am writing from National Instruments Technical Support with an issue that one of our customer's is having. The customer uses Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 (model name: 20009) and was trying to use MXI-4 remote controller of PXI chassis. It is basically a PCI extension with CompactPCI form factor. Unfortunatelly the extension of PCI bus did not work, any device installed in the PXI chassis received code 12 (unable to allocate resources) in Device Manager. We know about this issue on some laptops, they just simply don't allow hooking up PCI bus on ExpressCard (correct me if I'm wrong) - see our knowledgebase. We provide a potential solution, which is MXI-Express Compatibility Software. This solution can fix some BIOS limitations, but not all of them. Unfortunatelly in case of the customer it did not help. The customer purchased IBM Leonovo Y530 just for the purpose of using it with MXI-Express Controller. National Instruments cannot resolve this issue. Is there any BIOS version or extension that could allow Windows to allocate devices on the extended PCI bus?

Regards,Sebastian

Hmm, that is pretty wierd, could be a hardware problem in which case I would call Lenovo and send it in for warranty repair.

I have an Ideapad Y530 with Windows 7 64 bit.  I have used my webcam infrequently in gmail without problems before, but it has suddenly stopped working.  I have also used testwebcam.com to verify that the webcam is not working: no devices are displayed. I have tried pressing Fn+Esc to turn the camera on (and reinstalling the hotkey driver), although this does not have any effect. I have also tried reinstalling the webcam drivers (I don't think I had Windows 7 64 bit drivers before), but after the files are extracted, the install begins, but is immediately interrupted by an error message that says "The Lenovo EasyCamera has (sic) not found!  Please plug in the Lenovo EasyCamera and then run the installation again." It seems the machine is not recognizing the hardware.  Any suggestions?  (FWIW, the machine is just out of warranty.)

Lenovo IdeaPad Y530Microsoft VISTA Home PremiumModel: 4051-68USerial #: ******* From day-1 I have had the following problems with my laptop:1. System freezes multiple times per day. Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Microsoft VISTA Home Premium PROBLEMS

As you have been having these problems from day-1, and you seem to have gone a long way to rule out a hardware problem, I would suggest recovering your system to factory state after backing up your important files. If the system does have an hardware problem this will hopefully show itself during the recovery. It may also be worth running some independant hardware tests like Drive Fitness Test and MemTest86.  I'm sure Lenovo will replace your hard drive if it proves to be faulty, but sending you one with XP on it - sorry, but this is unfortunately not possible. You have Vista Home Premium which is not entitled to a downgrade, only Business and above are entitled to this. These are Microsoft's rules and not Lenovo's and I don't see Lenovo breaking their contractual agreements with MS. If you feel you must have XP then you will need to purchase a license and install it and the drivers manually. Good luck

Thanks for your reply, I will edit my post accordingly [regarding the fee]. It wasn't meant to be a fee, just a small donation for my efforts seeing as how I posted the full instructions and didn't leave anything out. I edited this post to mark my tutorial [now the third post] as the solution, which will now be in green. Unfortunately, the first post is only meant to be for asking your question/requesting help and thus cannot be marked as the acceptable solution. By the way, I am pretty sure you can recreate the OneKey Recovery partition with a Windows XP image and/or with your favorite Linux distribution. For linx, you may need to remove hard drive [**not sure if this voids your warranty but be careful**] and create the image with a spare hard drive running either XP or Vista because you need OKR 6.0 installed in order to create the backup image you will be replacing in the OneKey partition. If you found that this is a solution for your situation, please come back and leave a thanks. I would like to see how many people benefitted from this tutorial.Message Edited by ortegaluis on 10-27-2008 08:32 AMMessage Edited by ortegaluis on 10-27-2008 08:38 AM

LSC keeps giving me an alert that my Norton Antivirus is not active.I click the activate and nothing happenes. My Norton INternet Security Suite is active and working. How do I fix this?

Answer:Lenovo Support Center Ideapad 590

hi frankfallon,

Welcome to Community.

Your problem might be similar to this thread (although this is a different product, same aspects apply).

It's possible that the Lenovo Solutions Center (LSC) is not detecting your Nortorn Internet Security as an antivirus but as a Firewall (compared to Norton Antivirus). You can try to update to the latest LSC but if this doesn't fix it, you can just ignore the message from LSC about the antivirus not being active as the security software is already active.

Hi everyone, my 100s Ideapad recently had a charging issue where it won't charge unless you cram it in. So, I ordered a new charger off of Amazon with the same output voltage. However, when I plug the charger in, it doesn't show the charging light or turn on. I tried unplugging the battery and holding the button down, but it didn't work. The gold part inside the charging port is loose, I think that's what's wrong. Does anyone have any fixes?

My Y500 just went out of warrenty.  Call Lenovo cost to much to send it in.  Problem : Press power button, power button lights up on press but once you let go light goes off.  No fan, no HDD sounds, no display, no keyboard light .... nothing.  This happens when AC cord is pluged in and when not pluged in  ... using battery. Light Indicters shows a white light for power .. next to it is a amber light for battery.  These light ONLY shows up and stays up when you plug in the AC power.  Same light goes when AC Cord is removed and running on battery but only shows when you press power button.  From the manual, amber light means 20% of battery it needs recharging, which I did  over night and still same issue.  I removed the battery and only used AC cord ...... sadly same things.   I tried the hold down power button 30 sec trick with AC Cord and Battery removed to clear any power left...  at least 20 times... No luck. Last resort I even opened it up removed the RAM, HDD and Netword Card ... no luck it wont power up. Question is can it start without battery .. just AC Cord?  Does it need HDD or Ram to start?  Whats the most basic requirement it need to start... thinking breaking it down to the bare syatem to see what is causing it not to start?Shouldn't there  beeps telling what is missing or failed?   I'm on my last plead for help before burying... Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not powering on in your Lenovo Z580 laptop.

Perform the power drain, by disconnecting all the external devices connected to the system, also remove the battery and shutdown the machine and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and now connect adapter and battery and try to power on the system and check for the issue.

Let us know the result.

I was using my laptop this morning, closed the lid, and went on to use the wifi from my phone (my wifi is weird in that I can only have one device connected at a time. I don't think this is relevant, but who knows?)When I went back to my laptop and opened the lid, it didn't start up from hybernation. I noticed that the battery light was blinking orange, so I plugged it in. Now the battery light comes on as white (which means charging but not critical battery life.)But when I push the power button, nothing at all happens. The power button usually glows when it's powering up, but now it doesn't do that. Nothing at all happens, except for the glowing white light aignifying charging when it's plugged in.Also, I notice that when it is plugged in, and when I press and hold the power for some time (10-20 seconds) the charging light will stop glowing for a bit. But beyond that, nothing happens: no fans, no sounds, nothing. This is one of the worst times for this to happen, since I have so much to do on my computer. Thanks in advance for reading this, and thank you for any help you can give.

Hello everyone, New to the community here. My wife's S206 IdeaPad will not turn on, or rather it will turn on but not start/boot. The power light is on,as is the batter light, and I can hear the fan, but the screen remains blank, and there's no sound. I've checked other posts and the suggestion to remove the battery and start with the AC power does not seem to be an option as it's solid state (battery can only be removed by removing the back panel.) Has anyone encountered this before? Any solutions? Thanks.

My Lenovo is 4 months old, it has been working brilliantly until late. I shut down my laptop and the following day turned it back on, unfortunately the screen stayed black, yet the lights on the computer were working. After waiting a very long time (approx. 10 hours) I opened the lid and it started up again. I can close lid and the laptop will continue to work when I open it again, however if I shut it down the problem happens again. I have run lenovo diagnostics on the hardware and software and there appears to be no issue with things such as the mother board. Please could someone tell me how to fix this. Many thanks

In their ARK description, Intel admits that they support `vt-d` virtualization technology on i7-6700HQ Processor. But nowhere in Bios (version E5CN56WW), it has mentioned on how to enable it. The only related configuration seems to be named Virtualization which is enabled, but I can't confirm it by enabling IOMMU on my Linux kernel (nothing appears in `/sys/kernel/iommu_groups/` folder). So I wanted to know if it supports this virtualization technology and if yes, how I can enable it? Thank you

Hello, I only found out after purchasing the Y510P laptop that it for some strange reason does not support 5Ghz networks, only 2.4Ghz. This results in me having insanely slow connection every single night around peak hours (7-11pm), and I'm unable to do anything like watching movies, playing games or download stuff. Does anyone know exactly how to upgrade the wireless card on this laptop so it supports 5Ghz networks? Do I have to go out and buy another wireless card, or is it software upgrades like drivers only? I'm not a computer major so a walkthrough would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mark, Lenovo Support, Marketing... who ever in listening out there in Lenovo Land! This is great and a long time coming for Ideapad owners!  Now maybe we will have support like Thinkpad owners have... I have been using some of the ThinkAdvantage free Software downloads such as the ThinkadvantageToolBox, Access Control.. etc. what great add-ons for your system!  Like Lenovo Support to add some of these as options on the Ideapad support and download areas.  We as Ideapad owners are serious computer users also... We need driver and bios updates for Windows 7 64-Bit systems and Bios support for Windows PC Virtualization on Ideapads that are hardware capable to support hardware and software Virtualization on Ideapads!Ideapad Y710 4054 with hardware that supports Virtualization but NO BIOS to turn the switch on.... want a bummer! IBM Thinkpad, Ideapad, and Aptiva owner here for 2 decades... Hello all, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Y700-17ISK part # 80Q00011US, and according to case manager assigned to my case, 100 days ago. The notebook was mis-represented by a sales rep, and when I got the machine and it didn't have the second hard drive bay in rear of machine, which I was told the 80Q00011US had. The machine also had a mild display issue, but rather than report it and spend 2+ weeks without a machine, I ignore the issue. It didn't affect daily usage anyways. So 10 days ago, the machine dies during a reboot. Seems the MB fried. I have been fighting and waiting (mostly waiting) for over a week for a case manager (Crystal) to contact me, which finally happen @ 7:30 AM PST yesterday. The case manager was not customer friendly, refused the replacement or refund options I requested, stated they would ONLY repair the system. Her cause for "rejecting" those options was because I didn't report the display issue in the first 30 days (I have enough exp. (35 Yrs.) in computers to know a bad spot in display is NOT going to fried a MB). Conservation got heated. I refuse the repair option because I know what they will do is replace MB & Display, and return other parts back to the machine (parts that very well could have been damaged when MB died, leaving me with a US$1,300 refurbished machine). I then requested to speak with her supervisor since I was tired of being BS-ed, only for her to claim there was no-one higher to speak to, and her actually hang... Read more

I have a U310 and when I turn it on, everything starts up, the lights come on, the fan the USB ports are live but the system does not always POST..no splash screen etc...after repeated attempts I can usually get it to start up OK. Once it is up and running.. it is just fine. Stays running for hours, all night if necessary. I cannot believe there is too much wrong with it if it can do this. Any suggestions...I have tried a few things..battery removla and replacement etc....I have it plugged in to external power supply which seems to be working just fine. Any suggestions??

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad U310 will not always POST or turn on

Could you try turning off the fast startup. You can realize this from Power options -> Choose what the power button does -> Change settings that are currently unavailable. After the last option at the bottom you will find "Turn on fast startup" disable it and test it again

Ok so recently my laptop wont turn on properly. When I press the power button, the keyboard lights up and the  fan starts up as usual. Then the fan slows to a stop, and through all this time, the screen remains off. After this the keyboard stays lit, the LEDs indicating the laptop is on and the battery is in use stay on. The laptop emits a single, short beep when the power cable is attached or dettached. I have tried connecting to an external monitor to ensure it wasn't the screen, to no avail. I have tried pressing the power button 10 times, and holding it for 30 seconds on the 11th. Of course, since my battery is integrated, this won't electrically reset the laptop. Anybody have any ideas or solutions?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z500T does not turn on properly

Hi sagz94 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You have here an accurate description of a non POSTing No Display issue . Same goes with your beep code .
Good job with Power drain and external display isolation (No display even from the Lenovo Splash screen ) .

Would the capslock/ numlock respond when pressed.
Will it beep if shift key is pressed more than 5 seconds?

If no , best that you check your repair options . ( chat and callback schedule available ) Check your warranty and you may give tech support a call for in-warranty repair .

Further than this, may void warranty to start opening the chassis for disasembly.

Click here for link on Z500t tech guide for reference.
Removing harddrive and any external devices , reseating battery , ram and CMOS if removable .
Then pressing for another power drain to remove statics from the board capacitors .
The computer should show something on the display even without the harddrive . but if the integrated graphic chipset is bad then most likely same non display non post issue would be the same.
Cleaning up and checking if any part is usually hot maybe the cause so best that you have the in warranty tech for checking.

Futher reference as No Post guide that you may want to check further .
Update us how it goes.

So the other night I was using my laptop like usual and watching videos online. Everything was working fine. recently updated and recently scanned and there were no viruses. I readjusted how I was laying in bed and moved the laptop and accidentally pulled the power chord out of its socket. This has happened a couple times before on accident. I plugged it back in, thinking nothing of it then I realized it was taking a long time for the screen to turn on. Everything else is turning on, but the screen. I turned it off and turned it on again. Still no screen. I went to the ipad and looked up the problem and I found it was either the backlight or the RAM. It wasn't the backlight. It wasn't the RAM. I tried hooking it up to the TV via HDMI cable and using the shortcut key to switch dispays... but it needs the screen to turn on for the TV to detect it is hooked up to the laptop. I should also mention the laptop was dependent on the power chord since I haven't had a chance to replace the battery yet. Two of my friends said something probably short circuited when the chord was pulled that night. Anyone got any ideas?

Hello,  After 4 and a half months of not being able to use my laptop, I'm getting very frustrated about my brand new lenovo laptop. I bought my lenovo ideapad 700 in Germany in August (240V). I left in September for a year abroad in Japan and used my laptop on the first few days until the battery went down. After that I tried to turn the laptop back on again but nothing worked: no lights, no reaction, nothing. I was using an adapter to conevert the voltage of Germany to japan's voltage (100V). I tried with different chargers, adapters - I tried everything. I even went to a computer store here in japan but even the guy in the computer store did not know what was the problem. I also tried to unplug the battery (from the motherboard, I didn't actually screw it out) and held the power button for at least 30 seconds and tried to turn it on again - still nothing. I tried everything I could think of and with everyday, my frustration and disappointment in lenovo gets bigger. Please, I just want to use my laptop, help me..  Desperate regards,Robin

Hi, yesterday my Lenovo Ideapad Y510p wouldn't turn on.  It was working fine in the afternoon, but when I tried to turn the laptop on at night, it wouldnt turn on.  The white power button is lit as well as the led lights indicating there is battery and etc.  There is no sound or noise that comes from a normal boot up.  No fans whirring, nothing.  Even the keyboard lights don't turn on nor do I see the lenovo logo or bios.  Nothing happens when I tried to turn it on except for the power button lighting up (it stays lit). I've tried using the novo button as well as holding the power button for 30/60 seconds wth the battery and charger unplugged, but none of it works.  Any help? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510p - Laptop won't turn on.

Dear RaymondWu,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Please try to,

1- Remove the charger and the battery >> hold the power button for 20 seconds.
2- Connect the charger only >> hold the power button for 10 seconds.
3- turn on the laptop normal and feed us back please.

Also please try another charger if you can.

Hi  Elozino ,

Can you remove the battery and charger then just press the power button for 15 seconds to drain remaining current inside.
Place back the battery and plug in the charger , use the Novo button to turn on and choose BIOS set up.
Press f9 to load default and f10 to save and exit.

Would there be any display using the Novo button (item1 page 7),

Well, uhm... First of all: Greetings! This is my first... well, post here.I'm having a rather distressful issue with my ideapad 305. I've had it for roughly two months. Here's the situation:Early this Sunday morning, my laptop was working just fine. I turned it on for about half an hour and then shut it down to do some stuff. After returning home some hours later, I turned it back on and did some work - the usual stuff. I shut it down after a couple hours and then tucked it securely in my backpack and left to visit a friend. When I took my laptop out and set it up and turned it on, it emitted a faint "fffrt" sound after a few seconds of starting up and shut down. I was surprised and turned it back on. Everything went normal until it prompted me with the black screen and white text pointing out it had shut down oddly a few moments ago, and it gave me two options: Continue as normal or check and repair any damage. I, of course, went for the latter and then was prompted a minute later with the option to roll back in case any data was damage, losing some of my data in the process (installed software and such). Because I didn't want to risk losing anything, I went for "No" and the process cancelled itself and the laptop shut down. That's where the problem began: My laptop refuses to start up again. Whenever I press the power button, the LED lights up for a brief instant and nothing happens; no sound, no fan working, no nothing. I tried plugging the charger and the small LEDs that te... Hey just wanted to give my .02 on this. I would love to see a 12 cell battery for this series of laptops. Especially considering the power gulping nature of my particular y510 with the 8600GT and older 65W cpu. So please, lenovo, do something right and sell a 12 cell battery for these laptops so I can play more than an hour of Left 4 Dead before it dies on me. Otherwise, I may need to take matters into my own hands. Answer:Dear Lenovo Make a bigger battery for the Ideapad Y510/530/710/730 Line of laptops.

I honestly think the best compromise, in terms of design/efficiency/practicality/cost, would be a 9 Cell for the Y530 and a 12 Cell for the Y730.

I?ve got my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 in Russia with Windows 8 Single Language Edition on it.I?ve set up three keyboard layouts, those are German, Russian and English. Both the on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition work for English and Russian. However, with German I don?t have the handwriting recognition as an option. How could I activate it or install it? Should I buy Windows 8 Pro Pack for it or does this restriction have to do with something else?If it?s all about the Windows SL license I would rather prefer to have the recognition of German handwriting instead of English.

Answer:Language support for the recognition of handwriting on Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

Hi eugrus,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You may need to add a German language pack and then you will see the Language settings to personalize handwriting recognition. Language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 8. The language packs are installed from the language control panel on the Yoga 13. Follow the steps in the link below:

How to install the Language pack.

Note: If you are facing issues with Windows SL license to download the Language pack in Windows 8, you may need to get Windows 8 Pro, you may also follow the steps to choose your required language in the ?Handwriting Option?:

Please hold the (Windows key + C) to go to the Charms bar.
On the Charms bar please click on Search.
Please select Settings under Search option and type ?Language?.
Now please click on ?Language? and click on ?Input method and Handwriting"
You can add your required language now.
You can personalize the Handwriting option by clicking on ?Personalize hand writing recognition?.

Hope this Helps.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

The adapter doesnt show any sign that it's plugged in. I've tried holding the power button down for 30sec then pressing it again to turn it back on. Nothing. I've even tried pressing the reset button, but Nothing. I am so mad right now since I spent a large amount of money on this, and now it wont even turn on. I've used it for less than 15 minutes

I have an older Ideapad z570, it made a popping sound and it won't power up now either.  I ordered a replacement adapter from lenovo thinking that was the issue as the light on the adapter was not coming on when it was plugged in.

After reading some of these boards, it appears I might have an issue with the mother board.  I would like to see abou getting it replaced, but there are no repair centers close to me, and I cannot find any information on Lenovo's webiste as to who I can contact or where I can send it.
And information to this end would  be greatly appreciated.  Sorry to tack on to this thread, but seemed silly to create another one for the same issue.

Alright, I purchased this Laptop through newegg and it was advertised with a discounted price for the Windows 8 upgrade.  So I have been struggling to install windows 8 in my limited spare time and running in to the problem where after it copies files it reboots and then just quickly tells me that my pc has encountered a problem and needs to be restarted and off it goes to a reboot and restores my Windows 7.  I tried a clean install to find that the boot volume was "OEM locked" or something like that.  So I figured it had to be the Hybrid SSD+SATA HDD thing.   So I searched and searched and searched, tried different things had to do the system recovery a few times and nothing worked.  So I called Lenovo tech support.  The first guy was nice enough, but said that I had to speak with enhanced support or something like that and that they would call in 1 to 2 hours.  Well, two days went by and they never contacted me.  So I called them today on my lunch hour, they had to call me back, but never did.  So I called again and this time the lady told me that I needed to talk to the Hardware support team because they know about the problem, but the OS upgrade problem is not covered under the warranty and I would need to pay 89.00 to get the answer.   So I said Uh no thank you, and asked if they had some online resources that I could take a look at to try to self help my problem.  She said no, there is not because "Windows 8 is... It looks like I may have left my Yoga 11 out in the hot car for too long. I got home and turned it on (unplugged, not charging), only to have it fail to startup properly (only a black screen, not the usual Lenovo logo). I pushed the power button for 20s and all lights went off. This I expected. What follows, I did not. Noticing how hot the computer was (hot to the touch), I plugged it in and let it sit until it cooled down a bit. The light that normally shows the battery is charging did not turn on - this has not changed. I can no longer turn on the computer either. Has anyone else had this problem? Did something critical in the interior melt, perhaps? I'm hoping I don't have to replace this unit. Can Lenovo support tell me what the policies are on replacing a machine like this?

One day I went to use the intenet on my P400 and I had no connection. I went to open up my wifi settings and they were not available! I didn't have the option to turn my wifi on! I used the troubleshooting function at first and it said something about an adapter isnt connected or something. I bought a ethernet cable and the internet works with it, but my wifi still wont work. I performed troubleshooting again and got this message: "The intel® Centrino® wireless-N 2230 adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware- related problems" Now I vaguely remember the first time I performed troubleshooting it told me an adapter or antenna wasn't connected. How should I proceed to restore my wifi?

I am using a Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 ultra book laptop. The laptop costs around 1 lac INR. I had absolutely no issues with laptop.  It was working fine, till in the month of Feb 2015, the touch screen of the laptop got damaged accidently.  I have followed up with at least a dozen Lenovo authorized service centers and all of them have put me down with saying we are not able to resolve the issue.  It?s now six months since I have been using the laptop with the cracked touch screen. I had directly interacted with Lenovo, but all in vain. It is saddening to experience that in spite of buying a high end laptop, the service and support provided by Lenovo is far below acceptable. Henceforth, I won?t be recommending any Dell products to anyone. Very Very Very cold response?????..

Good Morning Community. My P400 Keyboard works on and off sometimes, mainly if I disappear sometimes and stop using the computer and I come to the computer to turn on. Every so often, maybe like once or twice every other week for about 2 or 3 months now, It just stops typing or no buttons work at all, and then I just have to restart the computer to get the keyboard to work again. At least its not hard to get it back working again.. I know this should not be a problem I should be having, I have look everywhere online for help and no luck yet. I just wanna get this fix before it just stops working all together. Anyone with solutions? I already check hardware and bios updates for my laptop, everything is updated.. Question: IdeaPad Y530

Dear Expertise, My second Lenovo is IdeaPad Y530.It will be delivered after a wk. My first Lenovo is ThinkPad T400. My question is: Is "ThinkVantage System Update" also installed in IdeaPad Y530? I love this Lenovo utility. Why? It makes my life simple & less headache which I frequently faced while I was using Dell Inspiron. Kindly confirm me whether this "ThinkVantage" is bundled with IdeaPad. My regards Dr. Khan

Answer:IdeaPad Y530

ThinkVantage is not bundled with the Y530, which is aimed more toward the consumer market. It still includes a backup partition as well as the option of creating your own backup disks. If you purchased your Ideapad with Vista 64 I would highly recommend updating your drivers from the respective manufacturers websites versus Lenovo's as I have achieved much better results and stability so far with this method.

On your keyboard, hit "Fn+F5". This should bring up a wireless device management utility. If you have a bluetooth device on your laptop, it should show a "wireless card", and a "bluetooth device.

Hello, I just got my Y530 yesterday and barely could wait to install ubuntu. But now have come with one problem and one question.Problem: No sound at all!!! When I go to system>preferences>sound and test, every channel availabe is just a big nothing. It's not muted, the volume is at maximum. Question: Can I install the veriface software in Ubuntu? I already looked on the download and support page and there is nothing available for no OS. So, if it's possible, please let me know and where to download it! In advance, Thank you for your help!

Answer:Ideapad Y530 and Ubuntu

Arashiko, please use forum search to find other threads with Linux help here - there're somewhere around.I see you're a quite novice in Linux. I'm not good at Linux too, but I can surely tell you - most of software for Windows can only be launched under WINE on Linux. Veriface surely will not work.

Question: Ideapad y530 Hinge

Today my right hidge broke on my y530, so the screen keeps flopping down and doesn't close correctly. I would fix it myself, I'm A+ certified and do a lot of repair work. However, I can't locate any possible means to even remove the monitor, nor have I ever replaced hinges before. I tried locating some parts for it and then I tried looking for repair centers. I didn't find anything. Can any body offer me any direction on this matter?

Answer:Ideapad y530 Hinge

So, my battery has gone in one year at the value of 18% Wear Level! That is, by my standards, really bad, since the battery was not charged/recharged for like a maximum of once per week. And a few times in between, so i guesst that the number of recharge cycles is somwhere below the number of 70-80. I was hoping a more low wear level after this time since i have a 2-year old fujitsu-siemens[which is in terms of build quality and hardware, wayy low compared to my lenovo], and it has a wear level of about 9%. I have a 6-Cell 57Whr battery. And searching for replacements got me an unpleasant surprise. Lenovo USA does NOT sell those kind of batteries. Only 44Whr batteries. My 18% wear-level battery has 45.9Whr at the moment. So, where can i find an original 57Whr battery replacement, since if I will buy the 44Whr, basically, there would be no difference at all!
