I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Y530 and was wondering how you can change the what the touch keys open.  I looked up a thread about it on itunes, but is there anything i can do so the play/pause button opens up Winamp? Also, it turns out that the Fn+F1 function key to put the laptop into sleep mode doesn't work after I downgraded to XP.  In fact, nothing really works in the Energy Management in choosing what the laptop does when the lid is shut, pressed power button, etc. Any solutions? Thanks in advance. -Chris

Answer:How do you change the functions on the touch panel - Y530

HawkeyeKid, Do not have a response for you there is a long thread which I saw here to switch it to iTunes, see this thread; http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=ideaPad&thread.id=6076 However like you I am looking for a simpler solution with a pointer to winamp. Hey guys,I just got my u330 and I love it so far!  I do have an issue that i'm sure someone out there has figured out already.  When I was first setting up the touch sensitive bar, I setup the user-defined button to open Firefox.   Works great.  However, I would like to change it to open up a different program now.  I've looked in these forums fairly deep, google'd, all with the same result... none... Help!  Thanks, of

I am one of the early adopter that bought the crappy 1080p touch TN panel. Now seeing that the 4k touch panel is superior, I would like my screen to be replaced. The question is , would the 4k touch panel physically fit the frame the came with 1080p panel (direct subtitute)? 4k replacement touch panel is not available for sale right now but maybe in a year or so when it is popular I will definitely consider doing that.Thanks.

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

Hello, I have the TOSHIBA Satellite U400. Everything is going great but I have a few concerns.

1. The Touch Panel (Media Buttons on top of keyboard -mute-media-play/pause-stop-rewind-forward-) turn
the computer ON if touched! How do you stop that from happening? I only need to use the POWER button.
Power button is enough.

2. The MUTE button on the Touch Panel does not actually "mute" or "unmute" sound. Instead, all it does
is turn the White Glow Light for the entire Touch Panel ON and OFF (including the word "SATELLITE").
How do I make it do its proper function?

3. When logging into Windows, I get to choose between Password or FACE RECOGNITION. How do I
set it to FACE RECOGNITION only without having to choose it?

Thank you,

SAL : )

I recently updated/upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. The default mouse settings is to scroll using two fingers. I want to go back to using one finger to scroll on the right side of my mouse pad on my laptop. I have tried the settings for the mouse including the advanced settings. I clicked on device settings and then settings underneath that, which led me to a different window. When I clicked on the scrolling portion, it gave me pinch zoom and rotating.
All other forums have told me there should be a one finger scroll and two finger scroll tab under scrolling. I don't know if this is an option for 8.1, or if I am just not finding where I should be looking, but this is an issue for me.
Thank you!

Answer:How do I change my mouse settings from two touch scrolling to one touch scrolling?

Check your laptop manufacturers website for trackpad/touchpad drivers for Windows 10.
My Thinkpad in the Mouse Settings (advanced) has a section for the trackpad and I can set this so perhaps your drivers are not up to date for your device. I know a friend had to manually download those for his Dell to make that work like he wanted.

I've seen this on other laptops before, but I'm surprised to see such a basic design error on what I presumed would be a well designed laptop.  After only a couple of months use, I'm starting to see light marks on the lcd where the edges of keys have been touching the panel when the lid is closed.  No doubt this will continue to get worse untill the panel look a complete mess.  Not impressed.  All it takes to stop this is correctly sized rubber bumpers, another 0.5mm would probably have done it.....

Hello:

The IT guy at my Church recently quit. He basically set up all the computers, projectors and LCD televisions himself. He linked all the functionality of these devices into a single laptop. When you log-on to the desktop you see different groups of icons that control different things in the Church. So, in the projector-icon group, you can hit the "screen on" icon, and it lowers the screen. When you hit the "screen off" icon it raises it. He also programmed the PC to control stuff like lighting in the room.

So, basically, this laptop is similar to a touch-panel interface that you would find at a conference center. All the functionality of the room is patched into the PC, so that you don't have to put on the lights manually or lower the screen manually.

The problem is that my Church wants too purchase a new laptop which is more powerful. Unfortunately, we have no idea how to duplicate the touch-screen functionality that our previous IT guy programmed. The laptop we want to replace may be a "proxy laptop" that is connected to another one. I don't know.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas...

Answer:Programming a PC for touch panel capability

I would backup/image that laptop immediately in case something happen to it

As long as you can install the same programs on the new laptop, I don't see any reason not to get the same functionality. You may have to experiment a lot and copy files across, do some registry export and merges though.

I am not sure if I can be more descriptive as it all depends on the software used.

Hello and welcome cedeic now what did you install Windows with?? Did you do a factory default or slip in a new OEM or retail version?

Now you could do mate is to do a system restore and then set the updates to what I have in my pic and load the updates in batches until the one that is causing problems shows itself that means another system restore to just before it was installed and when it comes up just right click on it and "Hide" that update then carry on updating.

Myself and others have been on a mission to find a stylus that works with this 2 in 1 and so far not having a lot of luck.  The squishy tip stylus I had for my phone doesn't work.  One of those somewhat new metal stylus with the little round disk on the end works great on my phone but not on the inspiron with or without a screen protector.  I had a motorola active stylus with a battery that someone suggested, it only works intermiittingly but I guess the fact that it works at all should give me some hope.  What are the specs for the touch screen on the 3135?  I have read that a heavy cover like glass can affect whether stylus work or not as well as screen protectors.  I've found a couple of stylus that claim to have adjustable power output so they should work through screen protectors and glass coverings.  Gosin universal digital pen, overdrive adjustable and navitech are all supposed to be active stylus that have two power settings.  I've asked in the faq but no one can say if it works on the inspiron and the manufacturer says they haven't tested it either.  While I hate spending 30 bucks on anything like this without knowing 100 percent that it will work, I ordered one of the navitech off amazon because I will be able to return it if I want to.  I have poured over everything I can find about this machine but nowhere does anyone give any details on the touch screen.  I know this isn't intended to be a... Read more

Answer:What are the specs for an inspiron 11 3000 touch panel?

The screen is exactly that - a multi-point touch panel.  It does not have the digitizer that's required for use with an active stylus.
This is not a matter of there being a layer over the screen - there is, but it's not why your stylus isn't working.  Basically, a stylus that works will do anything your finger can do - and no more.
What you're looking for requires a digitizer.  If you're looking for that in a small system, you need to look at something like a Surface Pro 4 or equivalent from another manufacturer.

Received my ThinkPad Yoga today - i7 ? 8 Gb - 256 Gb SSD - Win 8.1 pro ? One major problem ? the touch screen stops responding to finger intermittently. It always responds to the stylus. Updated all the Lenovo drivers and did Windows updates. When it stops responding, the only way to get it to work is by doing a shut down ( restart does not work ). Read the forums and disabled and enabled HID-compliant vendor-defined device. That did not make any difference. Is this a common issue and is there a software fix for it or is it just a faulty screen?

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Hi Waferthin,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga.

To resolve the issue please follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Remove the Wacom touch gesture driver in the device manager and make sure to check "uninstall driver" when you do so otherwise the touch will stop working again a minute later.
And after that restart the system and the touch screen driver will automatically install.
In services.msc restart human interface device service to run automatically.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi, I have the Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch, new as of april 2014, and since last week, the touch screen has stopped responding to touch inputs. Before this it has been working and behaving perfectly. I have tried to turn the laptop entirely off and on, reboots... No effect. The screen simply acts like it never was touch. The HID driver is present and claims to be working. I tried to reinstall it and it does so with no errors or warnings. I also tried to reinstall the monitor and graphics card drivers. The Tablet control panel icon offers a calibrate option but Reset is disabled. The calibrate doesn't help because it doesn't respond to touch. System says it has touch with 10 finger inputs. Windows 8.1 Update 1, Enterprise SKU Any advice is welcome. UPDATE! Touch works when I lay the screen out flat. But if I return it to any angle, it stops working. Is this related to LayFlat mode or is there a connection fault in the display for touch input so only when I lay it flat it has contact? Software or hardware?

This has a built in CPU (i5) with Win7 32bit installed. The IDS touch screen was working fine, the it stopped
working. The thing is, the Touch screen calibrates fine using Elo calibration software for spotting the corners of the screen but when you do the mouse check, it does not recognize moving the cursor or selecting anything. I suspect a Win7 problem so where would a good start point be?

Answer:Elo 55" Interactive Digital Signage Touch Computer touch problem

Without knowing much about your system, I would say the first thing to look at is maybe update or reinstall your drivers.

I have ThinkPad X230 Tablet. It used to have non-functioning touch screen. I did something, and now the screen responds to pen input, but it doesn't work properly for finger touch. When I touch with finger, only thing it does is minimize or maximize window. When I change position of taskbar (with start menu and icons), it doesn't maximize/minimize.  I think this means that when I touch with finger, cursor clicks at bottom right corner of display, where there is button for maximize/minimize window

Hi I bought a Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen Laptop in 2011 when I was in US. I returned to India in 2011. In 2014 the bottom touch screen virtual key board started mal-functioning. The keys will automatically click making it unable to use. I gave it to a local technician he disabled the bottom touch screen. He also said the Hard Drive is corrupted needs replacement. He replaced with a new 500GB hard drive. While replacing it he changed the Windows 7 home premium to Windows 7 ultimate. From then on we were using it with a wireless key board. Now I am trying to repair the laptop. 1) Where can get 14" bottom touch screen so that I can buy and install 2) Where can get the recovery disks along with windows 7 home premium Thanks in advance for your help

Answer:Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen - Bottom Touch ...

I suggest that you first try to recover the laptop to factory-fresh Win7 home premium by purchasing the Iconia 6120 recovery media. This may help resolve the bottom screen issue. If you aren't in the US, please click on support at the top of this page. Choose the country. Then click "get support". And then choose contact acer for tablets. You should then get phone numbers or email addresses for Acer representatives who might help arrange for you to get this media.  Jack E/NJ

My Ideapad P400 Touch with Windows 8 is no longer responding to right side swipe (charms bar gesture).  All other touch screen functions and gestures still work normally, including the left side swipe to switch apps.  The screen still displays the 'touch feedback' dots when I attempt the gesture but no charms bar appears! I've tried recalibrating as well as removing calibration of touch screen, and tried various other troubleshooting procedures I found on this site, like uninstalling recent updates, etc... Finally I tried running Windows 8 PC refresh, which worked as it's supposed to so I got to reinstall all my software but didn't fix the missing charms bar! Has anyone had a similar problem with the touch screen right-side swipe and been able to fix it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!   Thanks!cait

Drivers all show working properly. Not intermittent. Tried settings and no help. No response when touching screen at all. Can't calibrate. Bios has no update available. Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas. If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate? Is there any recall? I see this issue on the forum a lot with not many folks getting it resolved.TIA!!

Answer:U310 IdeaPad Touch :The Touch Screen Stopped Working. No Previous Posts Have Helped.

hi c2nah777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"

See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

My wife uses the Lenovo U430 laptop. When she's using the touch screen, and she touches on an area, it will occasionally zoom in on that area instead of "clicking" what she's touching. This is annoying her (and me) to no end. This does not happen when she uses the touchpad. How can we stop this from happening?

I have always updated with latest updates by Microsoft including Window 8.1/latest driver by Lenovo but I think this is not the issue with Windows upgrade because this was done months back and touch was working perfectly. For the past several weeks I've experienced a very annoying problem with my ThinkPad.  Whenever the laptop goes to sleep and resumes the touch screen goes... crazy. It starts registering multiple inputs across the touchscreen and the only thing that seems to resolve the issue is a restart. Sometimes, upon restart, the touch screen works normally, other times it does not work at all.  Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've seen this issue described for other Lenovo models with fixes, but none for my model.  Under the hardware ID in device manager, this monitor is a LEN 40A4.  I'm running Windows 10.  This is my third Thinkpad X1 Carbon, not because I love to upgrade, but because these machines seem to only last one year before something major breaks.

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

Cleaning the WLAN shouldn't have caused the problem.  Recently someone posted on this site or thinkpads.com with a similar problem.  Do a search on both sites.

Ok, so I got my Yoga 2 Pro 5 days ago. It was been working great until today. I turned it on and I noticed that the on screen volume indicator was active and at 100%. I pushed and held the volume down button and the indicator went down but as soon as I let it go, it goes all the way back up to 100% volume as if a ghost is making it happen. The volume indicator will not disappear. So I thought that maybe I did something wrong. I restarted the computer and nothing changed. Here is what else I've noticed: Volume indicator stays on all the time and will not disappearOn screen touch keyboard is inoperable, comes up but goes down immediately.Touchpad is unresponsive and swipe gestures don't work on the touchpad. The on screen start button (on the windows taskbar) doesn't work. Is not clickable. When I open apps, they open minimized and start blinking orange on the taskbar. In my office documents, when I right click, menu immediately disappearsI uninstalled and reinstalled the audio and touchpad drivers. Didn't work. It seems that something is either being depressed or is hungup or conflicting. I can't figure out what it is. I haven't tried much else, so I don't know if other features aren't working.  This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, this is my situationI have bought my Lenovo Z400 Touch 59366600 in June last year, and it came with a non-functional webcam. In September last year, the touchscreen started exhibiting the spurious touch input fault on the left edge, rendering the computer unusable until the touchscreen is disabled in Windows. At some point after this, I have disassembled the computer.I have since moved to Austria, and I wish to solve my laptop's problems and am willing to pay a fee for the service. How can I do so? In addition, I have already bought a new SSD and more RAM to upgrade my computer, and am planning on installing Windows onto the SSD, however the Windows installer will detect the touchscreen and it will be impossible to click any buttons on screen.

I have the IdeaPad S510p touch, which seems to have a similar problem as other Lenovo models where the touch screen seems to stop working intermittently.  It seems to stop working after a while or after it has been sleeping.  It starts working again randomly.  I tried downloading a driver for a different model, but it didn't load or allow me to open it.  I just got this computer a few days ago.  I'm not sure if it is better just to take it back to the store, but I am concerned that this problem will exist even if I exchange it for a new one...

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

Hi Guys, I recently knew from my older brother that there's an option to disabled the touch pad, while using the laptop with the mouse. Because my touch is extra sensitive that when I'm working at times my palm touches it, and it transfers the cursor anywhere. But I like the sensitivity though because when I don't have a mouse, I can tap lightly twice and it opens the files or the links. But since using Fn+F6 for a week, I lost the sensitivity on my touch pad. I need to press hard once to click or open links or files. I tried modifying the touchpad sensitivity option, but no avail. Please help me, I'm a freelance worker and at times I don't work with a mouse.  Thanks,Brent

You should test the keyboard in the BIOS menu and see whether it works. 1) Press on the recovery button (next to the power button, you may need a small screwdriver). https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11617761143/in/set-721576390073780542) Then there is an option menu for entering recovery, bios, etc. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14512183979/in/set-72157639007378054Use your keyboard and see whether it works in that option menu. I am an older person who uses my ThinkPad X120e away from the office quite a bit.  In the last few years my hands have become increasingly shaky.  What is happening is that when I move my finger around on the touchpad the cursor will pass over icons and buttons on the screen.  Often my finger gives an inadvertent bounce and whoops I just selected an ad or feature I did not intend to select.  So my question:  Is there a way to disable the select on tap function of the touchpad?  I still want to use it to navigate but prefer to use the keys to do the selecting because of my unsteady hands. Note to Marketing types - There are an increasing number of us old farts who are looking for ways to stay active on line in spite of our impairments. Thanks for any help, hoping this is a simple adjustment I have not found yet.

if you go to mouse settings in control panel you can disable this function by removing the "tick" in enable tap zones, or adjust it to how it's comfortable for you;

Alternatively you can also reach the settings by using the key combination Fn + F8

Hi, I have a Lenovo Y70 Touch with Windows 10. Recently, my touchscreen has been malfunctioning.  Randomly, the touchscreen will start receiving touch events at various locations of the screen withouth me touching it, making it nearly impossible to do anything (By touch events, I mean it is as if someone is touching their fingers to my screen over and over again).  I can disable the touchscreen, which makes it so I can do stuff at least, but I would like to use the touchscreen without a problem. It seems like the false touch events are being received in a particular location on the left side of my screen for the most part, which leads me to believe it's a hardware issue. I ran the Lenovo Solution Center tool's hardware test and it didn't find anything, but I also didn't see a test for the touchscreen in there. I'm stumped. Even if it is a hardware issue, I'm not sure how to proceed with Lenovo (I am under warranty, thankfully). Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've had this machine about about a week, so far I really like it.  Can't say yet that I love it yet, but it does what I need it to and the price is better than a tablet with the same functions and already has a keyboard.  This machine is kept in a padded case when not used in my desk drawer it does not bounce around in my briefcase etc.
This morning the left button on the touch pad does not work.  At first glance it sort of looks like it is caught on something or stuck, the right button works great a broken switch under the button is also possible but this thing doesn't move at all I'd think a switch would still move just not contact properly inside.  I need my machine and I've made a couple of upgrades like a SSD for the stock hard drive and a 8 gig ram chip, I am not thrilled about pulling those components in order to return for warranty replacement etc. as I'm pretty sure you won't be returning the same machine I sent in.  I'm considering pulling it apart to see if it is indeed stuck so it can be pushed back out from the inside but if this is a common issue with this machine I'd like to know that...
Can I be sent a new touch pad component, I believe I saw this is a separate board that attaches to the motherboard with a ribbon cable?  I'm not afraid of this procedure myself as I've been building desktops since the 90's and this is a really simple hardware to work on from the looks o... Answer:New week old Inspiron 11 3000 3558 (touch) stuck or broken button on touch pad--warranty parts replacement?

This is an fyi about the final resolution of this issue.  After a lot of arguing dell sent me what was supposed to be the touchpad but what I got was only the plastic palmrest no touchpad. Then because it's a "daughter card" I got more argument about the touchpad.  I got hot enough that I opened up the back, lifted out the battery, took out the two funky looking screws and the whole pad just fell right out of the machine.  The buttons seemed fine so I screwed it back down, put the battery back in and closed it up.  It's now great, the button was indeed hung up on the edge of the plastic palmrest.  This is a very well designed inside machine, it all screws down and all connections are with plugs or ribbon cables.  I wrote back to dell and told them they need to fire their tech manual writers because they're idiots, a monkey could have done this.  Apparently it is not easy to find only the mouse pad it's generally sold with the palmrest from what I can tell.  This whole machine is so well designed I scratch my head why the cpu isn't socketed unless they decided there was no room for a socket etc, which I can see that argument.  So if your mouse pad quits try popping it out first it may just be hung up.

Hello everyone
I need your help, I have the model of portable Toshiba Satellite L845-SP4303FA, and I was very uncomfortable the use of the touch panel having already a mouse bought separately, however I don't know how to disable it, I tried with the method of "FN + F5 "But it has not responded by deactivating the panel, I have also tried searching the" Control Panel / Mouse / Properties "looking for some way to disable it, but nothing worked as it should and I still can't use the product with satisfaction.

Greetings.

Hi, my XPS 15 9530 touch screen is not working anymore. The wire for the touch screen which emanates from the display panel and goes into the motherboard  seems to have burnt at a point. I am not sure why it burnt suddenly . Is there way I can change this wire without replacing the whole display unit?
Any help or suggestion is highly appreciated..
Thanks,
(ps: i m out of warranty)

Answer:Touch panel wire damaged: Dell XPS 15 9530

Unfortunately, no - the assembly is fused together with adhesive.  It's very unlikely you would be able to disassemble the glass without breaking it, and even less likely you'll end up with a working assembly when you re-assemble it.
There are a couple of possible causes -- a shorted wire from being crimped together is one.  A second one would be a power fault with the mainboard that sent too much power through the cable and caused it to overheat.  You may want to refer the repair to a professional so they can determine what happened before you spend a few hundred dollars on a screen only to find out you need to spend that much or more on a mainboard replacement as well.

What I thoght was an issue with certain touch drivers might not be. After uninstalling the latest tablet pc touch drivers from wacom and installing some recommended drivers from the fujitsu site I ran into the exact same problem. I finally found out it always happens if I hibernate my latop. If I then restart the laptop everything is back to normal. After hibernation symptoms include:- Rotating the screen to anything other than the original direction has no calibration data.- Pen input not recognized as pen input, input panel does not appear. If I touch the panel with my finger the panel will appear docked on the side.- Unable to calibrate the pen, input just isn't accepted by the program. I have to hit ESC. Anyone else have this issue?

Answer:x201 Hibernate destroys touch panel settings.

Ok now i'm having trouble after a restart as well. This is driving me crazy! Can someone please tell me how to have pressure sensitivity and no problems? What combination of drivers must one use?!

Hi all,

I was showing off the laptop this weekend and found that the touchscreen didn't appear to work (i haven't used it in some time)...

I went to the control panel to check if it was on and the Touch Settings Control Panel has a link that goes nowhere. It just throws an error and the control panel icon is now blank.

Now all i've done for updates to drivers is the stuff i've got from the Toshiba Tempro thingy... have they remove this function?

What might I have done to break it?

How do I fix it?

Many thanks all,

Rob.

Answer:Portege M700 touch screen control panel gone...

Go to the Toshiba Website and install the Wacom Dual Touch Driver
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Also update the BIOS and install the latest Toshiba Value Added Package (assuming you are using Vista).

If that doesn't work, you could try reinstalling Windows by running Recovery (hold the Zero key during power-up). Remember to backup your data first.

I prefer to use a mouse over touch pads and all my previous LT allowed me to enter control panel> mouse> device> setting and then deselect the Synaptic pad Or by using the fn key combo and toggle the pad.  This windows 8 Z580 64 does allow me to do any of these things BUT it resets to the ON selection after every time the screen blanks, the LT hibernates or sleeps.  Never before have I had to reset the settings after each use even a bathroom break.  It is a killer to be half way through a document only to find the cursor is 16 lines above where it should be and forcing a complete reread to see how many different places this occurred.  I am not overly bright and certainly do not want to totally disable the thing in case a mouse fails but I really do want it to stay off until I hit fn F6.  Internet searches show this is a problem to some extent and usually say to remove drivers or disconnect the wiring.  These seem extreme.  Shouldn't this be a registry key change???  Please will someone with more knowledge help me with this issue.

Hi,

I have a Packard Bell EasyNote TJ68 Windows 7 with a touch panel control on the keyboard. With the touch panel it is possible to toggle Bluetooth on/off, wireless on/off, voume up/dn etc.

When the touch panel is in use, an icon appears on the screen momentarily. These icons are now missing. The touch panel is functional and the windows equivalent icons do appear correctly in the taskbar but the icons that used to flash up when using the touch pad have disappeared.

Anybody know how to find where these are turned off? What program controls the touch panel icons?

Reinstall the "Value added package" from Toshiba driver page, This should clear up the problem.

Hi, please can you let me know how I go about ordering a replacement LCD Panel for my Inspiron 5759 with a full HD, non-touch panel ( 1920x1080 ).
I've got a couple of scratches on the panel and would like to replace it myself but unsure how/what spare to order.  I'm in the UK if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
 Graham

Answer:Replacement LCD Panel for Inspiron 5759 (1920x1080 non touch)

The best way to proceed is to order the exact screen you have now (the Dell part number is on the back of the panel itself).
There is a set of Dell part numbers for screens here as well.

My laptop called HP Pavilion dv6-1100so Entertainment Notebook PC
This laptop has front panel touch buttons above the keyboard for volume controller such as mute button, Volume Increase/Decrease buttons,Play,Next & Previous buttons, stop button and at last it has Wireless on/off button. These buttons were working by touching the buttons once. After 5 or 6 months usage, these buttons stopped responding when I touched them.I don't really get the reason.I tried to restore by using Windows Vista system Restore program but there is no change.I tried to see the device manager, but there is no visible error. But I can control these buttons using the keyboard and buttons from task bar system tray at the right corner. What shall I do?

Answer:When I touch media panel my Satellite P300D switches on

Hello

Since when do you notice this behavior?
Have you installed newest BIOS version?

About this behavior I found a similar thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?messageID=231754

So I can say it?s normal behavior that is switches on when you touch the mute button.

Not only are "pen and touch" no longer in my control panel, HID-compliant touch screen is not in my device manager.  Needless to say, my touch screen is non-responsive.
I have a Compaq Elite 8300.
I had problems before but everything was working 24 hours ago and I didn't make any changes since then.

The laptop has vertical lines of dead pixels running across the screen and I want to get the LCD replaced. Now the non touch screen model of this laptop has a Full HD variant (1920x1080) as opposed to the standard 1366x768 WXGA HD display while the touch models only come with the WXGA HD LCDs. Can I replace the LCD of my touch screen model with the FHD one? I have been able to detach the digitiser from the LCD itself and have the hinges and screws so I would assume it would be a simple case of changing one LCD with the other. The replacement touch screen models all come with the digitizer and hinges attached which is not something I require so it would be easier (and cheaper!) if I only got the LCD replaced. Lastly, if this is possible, do I need to purchase any additional cables? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Replacing Dell 15R 5537 Touch screen LCD with FHD non touch LCD

You're going to need at least the FHD wiring harness:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
the screen
www.parts-people.com/index.php
and the bezel
www.ebay.com/.../302211389965
You may or may not be able to re-use the back cover/hinge assembly - usually these are different between non-touch and touch versions.

Does anyone know the following about the 2015 X1 Carbon 2560 x 1440 screen? Does the touchscreen still have the same hazy film that prior generations had?  We have a couple of the older ones at the office and that hazy film makes it very fatiguing to read text.  Does the non-touch have the film?  Is the non-touch clearer and easier to read text on? Are the screens matte or gloss? I know lenovo doesn't recommend removing the film but it appears many people have removed it.  Is there any detriment to removing the film? Thanks in advance.

Answer:X1 Carbon 2015 (Gen 3) touch vs non-touch screen clarity

I have a 2015 X1 Carbon with the 2560x1440. I don't notice any hazy film over the screen (but I have heard that Lenovo coats it with something). It's a glossy screen but probably a bit less glossy than some others I've used. That said, the screen is fairly dim (I think max 270 nits) and I need to leave the brightness nearly all the way up which eats away at battery life. But at that setting, it's terrific for me.

Answer:Logitech Touch Mouse 400 for a Laptop with no touch screen

Sorry I can't answer your question, but this post piqued my interest. I use the Logitech 620 touch mouse on a Windows 7 box at work. I find a little touchy and has to tweaked. But I haven't tried the 620 on Windows 8. Because I'm always looking for the perfect mouse, I think I might just pick up the 400 tonight and let you know.

My X220 tablet comes with pen and limited touch support with 2 touch points. I have no issues on windows 7 but on windows 8.1 it has changed to be working with only 1 touch point since some time that I don't remember exactly when. So that I can work with one finger only and 2-finger functions such as pinch to zoom are unavailable. My drivers are all uptodate. I think I should completely uninstall the related driver before reinstalling but don't know how to procede and couldn't find the solution. I tried uninstalling all HIDs through Device manager and one-by-one, specifically wacom device. when I uninstall it, I lose touch option completely. but reinstalling through Device Manager sounds like recovering exactly the previous faulty condition. Maybe there is a conflict with windows 8.1 like Microsoft Input Configuration Device which might be unlikely.  So is there any other way to have full wipe and clean reinstall of those touch screen drivers? I appreciate it if you put links to the drivers for me, if they are not available on Lenovo Support. Tell me if you had the same touch issue in Windows 8.1  and how you solved it. Thanks

Hello, for our company we have multiple versions of the Thinkpad T470.Some are touch, some are non-touch. Now for a repair of a non-touch T470, i want to replace this with a LCD WITH touch.Until now there is no working LCD with touch. On the Part-website of Lenovo i found the following: Non-touch LCD-cable : 00UR481  Touch LCD-cable : 00UR484 The cables look the same...but are they same?is every T470 motherboard capable for Touch LCD ? Or is also another motherboard needed?
