Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 Battery not charging or discharging

Question: Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 Battery not charging or discharging

The battery just suddenly stopped working on my laptop again. I've already replaced it once with a battery of the same type before. So right now I have two useless batteries. I don't want to buy another battery just to have it die too. The first one lasted about 14 months and the second about 4 months. Does anyone know if the 9 cell battery will completely solve this issue?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Purchased this Lenovo 3000 N100 Laptop in 2006, and had the Battery Replaced once within the Warranty Period. Today When I Switched On the Laptop I Found that the Battery Indicator Glows for a Moment When I Connect to AC, and Goes Down Immediately. Though I am able to Power On the Laptop on AC, but if the AC Supply is Removed the Laptop Shuts Down. I Checked that the Battery is at 67%.After Searching in this Forum I Understood that this Issue was Discussed in the Past, and For Which there was this MIGR-69671, that Extended the Battery Warranty for another Six Months and also that this Battery Replacement Program has Ended on October 01, 2008.Can anyone Suggest What can be Done in this Situation! Is there any Know Solution for this Problem from Lenovo?

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 Battery is Not Charging or Discharging

If your current battery was new in 2007, I suspect it is now dead, and no fault of Lenovo's.

Can anybody tell me how to run a diagnostic on my battery or the charging system on this laptop? PC doctor MIGR-67520 is what Lenovo tech told me to run. The battery test passed but my battery only has 1 % charge. Yank the cord and the computer is dead. Plug it in and the charge light blinks 5 times and goes out. One day my battery works fine with plenty of power. Next day nothing! I have a multimeter if I could find out which pins to test for what voltage I could test myself if there is not a self diagnostic. I see plenty of others are having battery problems. Don't want to spend $150. if its not the battery. Don't really want to spend it if it is but I'm a contractor and I keep blueprints on this laptop for use in the field.  I'd really appreciate some advise here and thanks in advance if you can help me!

Have you tried powering the laptop with the battery off and AC adapter plugged in? Does it work fine then?

Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 DKU Laptop has battery issues. The battery shows 75% & total battery power remaining @ 76%.The battery charge does not change when connected to the system with the AC adapter. The system will only function with the AC adapter attached. The system will not function on battery alone. Is there some type of battery re-calibration available?   My husband checked the battery with a meter that shows that it still does have power.  The battery is a Sony LION; the original one purchased with the computer. Thanks in advance for any suggestions offered!   Rita

System won't boot without automatically going into Rescue and Recovery 4 mode.  I need to flash the BIOS which for whatever reason is set to version 1.8 (63RT62WW). I've downloaded the latest BIOS update utility 3.12 (63af08us) on another PC however, the instructions indicate that you can only update the BIOS from within Windows.  This notebook has Windows Vista loaded on it however, everytime I boot the system it goes into RnR 4 which is not acting right itself - Popups, kicks off actions when I didn't ask it to repeatedly. Also Opera is kicking off asking me if I want to upgrade to 9x version but it never succeeds. I've even tried to boot up using PQMagic and Partian Commander to blow everything away but neither one will work.  I've also tried to boot off of an XP Pro Installation CD to blow away the partians and install XP on the system but it hangs up at 14% during the formating. I'm just about ready to toss this thing and chaulk it up to a BAD experience with Lenovo PCs but before I do that, if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks for your time and reading all of this.

Ok i had this laptop sitting in the closet for the past year. It crashed on my one year ago and the Hard Drive went out the window. So i recently purchased a new hd for my Lenovo N100 (0768-DDU) and everything is great. Got all the drivers that i needed and everything works good except for went i go to connect a vga cable to the connection port on the laptop. It does not seem that it recognizes that i have connected. So i am guess i need some drivers.  When i go into my Device manager there is a Other Devices List. It has 4 things with question marks on them. So it looks like this.   - ?Other devices             ? base system device               ? base system device                             ? base system device                             ? Modem Device On High Defenition Audio Bus So to these control the vga port? and were is the driver for this port. I have tried all the drivers here and i can only use the one for the intel 945gm chipset. So? Can anyone help a hand?

Can I replace the presect 11abg wireless card with a 11abgn cardIf yes what is the part numberSomeone please help

Answer:LENOVO 3000 N100 0768 FPG

In regards to 11abgn upgrade question for the 3000 N100 0768 FPG Suggest contacting your Lenovo in-country or regional tech sales about this for an "official" answer...which will probably be no. The 3000 N100 hardware manual says 11abgn was never offered.  Pages 73 & 74 of the manual indicate this in the table of various Mini-PCI Adapters that were built-in to all the types of 3000 N100's. ...but this information doesn't help you. In regards to your question, you could try hacking this without Lenovo support and may be successful. However, in addition to the stumbling block of an unclear path for upgrading your Notebook to ?N? think carefully about the general practicality of 802.11n.  It can be problematic to achieve the dramatic theoretical speeds of ?N? in the real-world. SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER PERTAINING TO 802.11NTo achieve the max throughput a PURE 802.11n, a 5 GHz network is recommended. The 5 GHz band has substantial capacity due to many non-overlapping radio channels and less radio interference as compared to the 2.4 GHz band. Implementing a pure 802.11n-only network may be impractical for many users because the existing computer population is predominantly 802.11b/g only. Replacing incompatible WiFi cards of entire laptop stock is necessary for older computers to operate on the network.Consequently, it may be more practical in the short term to operate a mixed 802.11b/g/n network until 802.11n... I recently had to reinstall windows 7 on a used hard drive. The other hard drive failed. I had previously installed NVidia vista drivers from downloads without issue. I started getting blue screens - wasn't sure what the cause was. Hard Drive test passed - memtest passed, etc.  I couldn't recall if I installed the NVidia driver before or after blue screens. So I uninstalled the NVidia driver ,and no blue screens in a couple a days now.  Why would I be able to run the NVidia drivers before and not now ? I'm not so PC literate I can read from event viewer.

The problem is that sometimes the keyboard and the trackpad would not do what I want it to do.  Meaning, sometimes the NUMLOCK key would come on, sometimes when I try to open up an app with the trackpad or mouse, it would open like 50+ apps from one click.  When I try to close the app, it would open several more.  Sometimes if I am typing something, an app would open that I don't want or need at the moment.  Originally I thought it was an virus or trojan but I did several virus scans in safe mode as Admin and the same behaviors would occur.  It would even would open 50+ apps that I didn't prompt or even click.  Any idea on what this might be?  I suspect keyboard failure or MOBO failure, but I want to exhaust my options before I chuck it and get another laptop. ETA: The OS is XP Home Edition BTW. Hi everyone,I'm rebuilding my friend's laptop with Windows XP pro Service Pack 2 CD. I installed all the drivers but having trouble with installing the wireless drivers.  I've tried all of these 3 choices posted in the drivers download page:Broadcom Wireless LAN driver for Windows XP - 3000 C200, N100Intel wireless 3945abg driver for Windows XP - 3000 C200, N100Intel wireless LAN driver for Windows XP - 3000 N100 The Broadcom driver didn't work. The 3945abg driver worked, it stated that it was connected BUT it never actually connected to the internet. It would hang and then state page cannot be displayed. Then I would go to my wireless connection and it would freeze. After this, I then uninstalled it and tried the third and last wireless driver posted (Intel wireless LAN). That did the same thing, it would state connected, but not really because it could never find the page and connection would freeze. Any thoughts? Do I have to install other drivers first then something else? I'm going insane so any help would be appreciated, thank you! Anyone have a better link to another driver?

I would install and run System Update for xp and let it find your drivers  for you.  You will need:

Chipset
Power manager driver
Hot keys utility
The wireless driver that it finds which should be the Intel card 3945.

After that, Fn +F5 should open a little window where you can turn on the wireless card.

Answer:Need Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 6VG Recovery disk for download

Didn't you make your own recovery disks. It has become standard that the OEM provides recovery media. Lenovo, as well as most other comuter manufacturer, includes the recovery partition. This partition is considered a recovery media. The user manual recommends that you create recovery disks at first boot. Have you tried booting into the recovery partition?

IE is famous for being the most buggy application ever. Use Firefox instead, as many people do (me, for example). Regarding drivers - try to roll back them and then install again. if did not help - boot in safe mode, remove devices i ndevice manager and reboot -> install drivers. Camera might be turned on by some combination of buttons, did you check that? (I understand, sounds a bit funny but still some people forget that...)

So,  it has been years since I last updated this system and figured it was time for an overdue driver update.  I typed in my model number on Lenovo.com and noticed a new bios version out for windows xp machines.  The updated did not state on the version 'only for' as the previous versions did, so I tried flashing the newer bios because I have Windows XP on that system.   Now everytime I plug in a usb device and use my keyboard it disconnects and reconnects the usb device.  I tried to reflash back to the older version but the system keeps displaying a blue screen and then rebooting.  I tried mading a DOS 5.0 bootdisk with phlash16.exe and the old bios but it yields a 'wrong model' message.  Lenovo, why are you including an update on the site with 2 bios versions without any proper warning when one of which crashes the computer?  I specificly typed in my model number and got this file.  I feel I been setup to fail.  Please post instructions how to flash old bios back or call me to step me through it.   Thanks.   Rhode Island State Constable John P. I think I need a little help in replacing my hard disk drive on my laptop. The Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium. The laptop is a 3000 n100 0768-04U model and here is what I have done to date:*Ordered and recieved a 320gb 7200rpm replacement drive from NewEgg.*Used Ghost 8.x at first to image the drive and tried to place on the new drive...didn't work.*My friends told me I need to use Ghost 11 or better for Vista, so I did that image....didn't work.I have probably a good 20 hours of ghosting and messing around with this system by now.*Tried to use the Rescue and Restore program by creating media disks. This proved to be even more confusing.  Cut two CD/DVD disks.  One CD for Startup Recovery and one DVD for product recovery.  Started using these to rebuild the new disk.  No OS disk and the recovery was asking for one, so canceled that part. When using the product disk it kept going and going and going.  Again, taking a lot of time.  There has got to be an easier way to just replace a low sized disk with a bigger one with out having to purchase a lot of software.  Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on what I should do next?  I am back on my original hard drive of 120gb now and soon will be running out of storage space.  Thank you in advance for the assistance.  (David)

How about use the Easeus Diskcopy, it is free and works great.  P.S. Ghost doesn't work properly, most people use Acronis Trueimage, it works much better and has better capability.

Hello!I have a N100 0768 model with GeForce Go 7300 (1680x1050). I've noticed that the LCD is connected through a 30 pin LVDS interface. Since I'm using an external TFT with 1920x1200 resolution I would prefer to use digital video output instead of VGA out.Do anyone know what kind of 30 pin LVDS interface has the GF Go 7300 card in this model? Is there any LVDS to DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort converter that I can connect to this connector to use my TFT with digital video ouput?regards,NA

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 - 30 pin LVDS pinout of graphic card

how about just getting an usb2dvi converter, it is much simpler.

I took my Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-family laptop to a laptop repair shop the other day because I couldn't get anything to appear on the screen on power on and the report I got back from them said that the motherboard needed a 'BGA re-work'. I then got a 'repair refused' message on their tracking system, so phoned them up and someone said they couldn't repair/replace the nVidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics card but I could come and collect the laptop as it is. i was just wondering if I can do anything myself to try and get it working again before I strip it and put the separate parts on an auction site. There's a graphics card which appears to be the one I had on this auction site and I was wondering how hard it would be to install the card and if it would solve the problem or if the laptop needs a whole new motherboard. Thanks.

Answer:nVidia GeForce Go 7300 video card failure on Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-family laptop

Take it to an especialized repair laboratory and do that BGA rework (reclaim for warranty over that work). Another option is changing the whole motherboard. You can't do anything yourself because you don't have knowledge and tools. Best regards.

Hi, I have the same problem with many 3000 N100 owners on my battery, and was able to get a thread from this forum. However, the local support number which is listed for my country, the Philippines ( 1800 11100724) is not of any help. It directs me to another 1800 - number which does not seem to be working. Can you please help me on this so I can have my eligibility to the battery replacement program be validated? I know you have helped a lot of Lenovo users like me before. Many thanks.

Answer:L 3000 N100 Battery not Charging

Following the release of the service tip, which standardizes the terms and time period underwhich these batteries can be replaced, I can no longer provide individual exceptions.

The best thing to do, is probably for us to help find an authorized servicer in your country, and we should track down the phone number.   I checked our support site and it lists this same number along with hours of operation.  Were you calling within those hours?  If not, try during the hours.    If so, and the number is no longer valid, please let me know and we will investigate it and take appropriate action.

I inherited a little used 3000 n100 almost 3 years ago.  Like many others I found the battery rather poor, but it kept working sufficiently for home use mostly on the mains supply.  Recently on battery it was achieving only about 12 minutes use and would suddenly seem to go from about 90% charge to almost zero and force the machine to hibernate.  It's a 3000 n100 type 0768 6VG, running Windows XP. Yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows XP (61ku06ww) from the Lenovo site.  Following that, the battery now seems to discharge normally and gave about an hour (quite good considering it's >3 years old).So you might like try this.  I've no idea whether it's why things got better, nor whether it will stay OK.Perhaps the Lenovo moderators can add comments? In all the adverse comment about these batteries, there didn't seem to be much about what may be a factor in the relatively short serviceable life.  If you take the battery out just after using the PC, you'll notice it is quite warm just along the area close to the connector.  Since lithium batteries don't like heat, maybe the packaged electronic board is heating the nearest cell or two more than the others leading to premature failure or life shortening, emphasised in warm climates?

This is the third battery I've gone through.  After 2 weeks of it working fine, it has lost the ability to charge.  The icon says it is plugged in but not charging.  If I unplug it the power goes down and when I try to replug it in, it still says plugged in but not charging.  It's now at 24% power and I'm not sure what to do.  From what I can tell from research, it seems that there was a problem with this particular model's battery (I have the 0768 model).  But obviously, I'm way past warranty.  Is there anything I can do to revive my battery or get Lenovo to send me a new one?  I am using a 65W AC adaptor, by the way.

1. I have set the BIOS to  (un)quiet so I can see what is going on. Power on, POST goes through to Mouse Initialized then stops and does nothing.2. following directions gathered... If I hit F1 while the POST is running, I get the BIOS set up. It shows I am on 1.08 although I have repeatedly flahed 3.12.3. continuing with directions gathered I move to "discard changes and exit", selecting that, and the Boot continues with my newly installed Windows 7. I guess this option skips the rest of the POST. Windows loads just fine and everything works. Windows in on my C: drive which is listed second in order; first is my DVD/CD drive.4. my memory has tested fine, and I took it out and put it back in.5. I can't figure out (and I tried) how to get to the CMOS backup batter to clear it by using jumbers or disconnecting the battery, so don't ask me to do that again unless you know an easy way...6. used Mac341.exe to try to re-set CMOS, maybe it worked, but it didn't change anything.7. I can live with hitting f1 everytime I power on, but there must be something wrong that can be fixed. I can't think of anything else, but let me know what I should do or provide for an answer. Thanks David.

Can anyone help me locate this Product ID on the a parts list at Lenovo or help me find something comparable? I am having a hard time locating my laptop's lcd replacement screen.Thanks! 3000 N1000 0768-A53

Check this Lenovo manual which has instructions for removing and replacing parts and also lists the parts by model.ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/42x3553_02.pdf See the section on LCD FRUs. The book indicates that all of the LCD parts are to be replaced by trained service technicians. Here is video with great instructions on replacing an LCD. It is not specific to Lenovo, but in combination with the Lenovo docs may be sufficient.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_FtMr_40-w Good luck

Hi guys! Have a problem with my Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-A53. Every time I hit the power button all it does is the heatsink fan spins and I hear the DVD drive and that's it! No beeps, screen is completely blank so no error codes. I removed DVD drive, hard drive, and ram from the laptop and still no go. From what I've been reading on the forums, it sounds like I need to replace the motherboard?   Now, if that is the case, I am confused on which motherboard I need for this laptop. According to the parts list on the lenovo web site my laptop uses motherboard model number 41W1201. Im I correct?  BUT, when I removed the ram from the laptop I was able to see the sticker on the motherboard with model number 41W8032. Why does the web site say one motherboard model and I have different model installed ? What's the difference between both motherboard models?  Can I purchase either motherboards and transfer the CPU, DVD drive, ram.... From the old unit and use it with the new with no problems?  Thanks for the help guys

The laptop has 15.4' LCD, T2390 (1.86 GHz) CPU/1 G RAM/80 HD with Wi-Fi, BT, Webcam and fingerprint reader. After two year light use, the laptop can not boot. The power light is on but no beep and black screen. I connected it with external monitor. Same thing. I haved checked memory, battery and hard drive. They are good. So it may be CPU or/and motherboard, but motherboard may be most likely. The cheapest MB replacement from ebay is more than $200. The laptop is in great looking sharp and I do not throw it away. Anything that I can try? Thanks.Message Edited by neuron66 on 05-14-2009 07:49 AM

Here is an example of memory I have used in the N100:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145157

I have used others, such as Crucial, Kingston, and PNY.

You can go up to 3 GB, which would mean a 2 GB and a 1 GB.
2 GB in the lower slot.

But, matching memory modules are the best way to go
for Dual Channel memory access.

No huge gain in XP between 2 and 3 GB, unless you
have programs that can take advantage of the extra.

I don't need drivers, I'm perfectly capable of using a search engine. What I would like to know is how to fix the faulty connection between my webcam and the rest of the hardware. I see the system trying to initalize the device, but it fails to read or write to the webcam. It only realizes there's even a device there if I tilt the screen forward, so I'm guessing it's probably somewhere near the hinge (which would make sense, the backs of the hinges have been slowly cracking over time) or the webcam itself. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it successfully?

System will not boot to Windows (Vista) which is what came on this PC.  Current BIOS version installed is 63ET62WW which is v1.08.  How can I flash it without windows?   I want to flash to 63af08us which I believe is v3.12. I've tried using the Start Up Recovery disk and it takes about 2.5 - 3 hrs to load disk 1 but it never comes back and asks for disk 2 or 3 which I have.   Using Rescue and Recovery Version 4. This pc is for a friend of mine who is home for 28 days from Iraq and I need to get it fixed before he goes back. Please help if you can. Thanks

Answer:Need to Flash BIOS on 3000 N100 (0768-04U)

Why are you doing a bios flash first? [Never mind - I didn't read your post properly.]  I would think that the way to go would be to fix your OS first. The bios is unlikely to be related to the boot problem, unless there is something that happened that you haven't mentioned, or you are unlucky enough to have the 'no-boot' Broadcom issue. If it's the Broadcom issue, just pop the wifi mini card out, boot up, flash, power down and replace the card, power back up and reload the driver as necessary. In any event, I don't see a dos flash util on Lenovo's site, so if you are determined to do this outside of windows, you would need to contact them first to see if they have a dos flash util. I still think the bios being the culprit is unlikely. You could try booting to a cd with a disk util on it to check the drive/controller.Do you have a spare 2.5 drive to toss in as a test? That would at least let you break it down to a disk problem or Something Else. My Lenovo 3000 N100 battery died two months after the warranty period. I send in my notebook for the re-imaging and was told that the battery was not covered under the extended 3 years warranty.  While reading this forum, found out that Lenovo did issue a statement on the battery.  Does anyone have a copy of the battery statement as I wanted to check whether does my battery S92P1185Z1ZBXXX fits under the category? My previous Thinkpad T2x, T4x series notebook battery last longer than this model.  Has the new battery quality drop? Thanks

Some battery was indeed covered by 6 months warranty extension, however that warranty extension program is no longer effective as of Oct 2008.  Also, how many charge cycle has battery gone through and what is the make.

I have the above laptop  with a 802.11 wireless g card.  It came with Vista Home Premium installed. I installed a D-link wireless  router  with my HP desktop, and the laptop worked perfectly, automatically finding and connecting to the wifi. Due to serious problems with Vista on the laptop, and not having a Vista DVD, I finally got a new one from Microsoft and installed it, and then installed Service Pack 1 for Vista.  Now my wireless card finds my network upon startup and connects automatically.  However, this stays connected for only 30 to 40 minutes, then it disconnects.  The only way I can reconnect is to restart the laptop.  If I try to manually connect, the error msg. says "cannot find a network".I have called my ISP who have checked my modem and it is OK.  I also called D-Link and they had me shut down everything, and start from scratch again.  My upstairs desktop, a Dell, finds and connects automatically to the wifi with no problem. D-Link says the problem has to be in my laptop.  I have also taken my laptop to my office, where exactly the same thing happens with the office wifi, and to a friend's house and again the same connection problem persisted with his network.A computer technician suggested I download new wireless drivers from Lenovo. I have not yet attempted that. Can anyone please help?

I just want to show my absolut disagreement with IBM/LENOVO because they don't want to change the defective battery of my lenovo 3000 n100, arguing that it was bought in January 2007 and it's 2 months over the limit of 18 months decided by IBM.If the battery has a MANUFACTURING FAULT, it should be changed, not depending on when it was bought. Moreover, if I buy now a new battery, I have no confidence that the new battery will be ok, as I could be once again absolutly unprotected by IBM, which is supossed to sell products with high quality, in fact that was the reason why I bought my LENOVO, but it seems that it is no longer what it used to be. Consecuently, I will not by more IBM products in the future. kind regards

Actually i got send enquiry via lenovo website but do not get any reply.I still keeping the replacement documentation. I sent private message to Mark last night and maybe he is not around, so i do not get any reply yet. Hopefully i will been giving help soon since that battery really important to my notebook. Between, actually i do not think that Lenovo Malaysia give the correct serving attitude to the customers. Hello all. I was over on Lenovo's forums, and no one could offer me any input on my situation. I have a Lenovo 3000 n100, and this new battery that I bought on ebay (5200mAh) discharges quickly (according to PC Wizard, it charges to the full 57720 mWh) . It last approximately 1 hour 30 mins (I'm being generous), if I am barely doing anything. I reduced brightness, reduced cpu voltage (0.95v), and disabled many devices (bluetooth, usb controller, etc.). I have calibrated this battery several times. Some things to note: It takes two presses of the power button to turn on the laptop when running on battery, and the battery sits at 0% for several minutes (up to 45 mins). Is this a defective battery? I am thinking that it is, because I have another laptop with a 4400mAh battery, with a little over half of its capacity left (2800mAh), and it holds a better charge than this one. I have a feeling that the seller that sold this to me isn't going to make it easy for me to exchange it. Any input is welcome!

Within the Lenovo Care application, it states my battery has a 88% on the Power Meter; however, the laptop only runs via A/C and does not run with a battery (DC). The icon on my laptop [located on the physical laptop  where you open up the top of the laptop] does not light any longer (green or red). How can I determine if I have a battery issue or a battery charger issue within the laptop? Thanks for your help. David

My battery suddenly died 2 days ago with the same symptoms described by many people on this board.  I have seen the tip MIGR-69671. I have spoken to local support. I purchased the computer exaclty one year ago September 18th, the battery failed 2 days before the warranty ran out. Lenovo claims the warranty period ran out in August. Although the tip says warranty has been extended for some of these batteries to 18 months, the bar code on my battery makes it ineligable for this extended warranty.  Why should this battery be excluded from the extended warranty when it exhibits the same characteristics as other batteries covered by the extended warranty. Is there anything I can do ? Bill

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 battery problem

That batch with extended warranty has a problem with the manufacturing process which makes it prone to certain failure, while other batch of batteries may also fail but usually there are many causes of battery failure, with similar end effect, which is a dead battery.

I woke early this morning and found that my battery is at fault. I see that my battery is stuck at 87% power with --- "plugged in, not charging." I immediately called the customer service which was directed to Atlanta, GA - United States. They took the details and found that my laptop is out of warranty status. This happened to me once when my laptop was in warranty and I was sent a replacement battery. Same problem again. I informed the representative that there might be problem with the replaced battery, but he said they were not allowed to assist customers whose laptops are out of warranty.  I have noticed there were many people who had this problem in this community. I request someone to help me ASAP. I am a student and I use my laptop much. I cannot afford to buy a new one now.  My laptop details:  Product ID: 0768A52Serial No: L3 - FW016 - 07/02.Replaced battery number: 11S92P1185Z1ZD4J82S1LB Please help!!!

I'm having the same issues.  The MIGR document that Mark_Lenovo posted links to at the top of this forum don't work anymore.  I've never had a battery go from normal charging and lasting over an hour to nothing overnight.  Based on all these messages, this is a known issue so why aren't the support people helping out? I've used Thinkpads for years at work and never had this happen.  Should I just be steering clear of these laptops completely since Lenovo took over?

Hello, For the past few weeks, I've had to play around with the charger where it goes into the computer, in order to have it find a spot where it would charge.  Today, it will not charge at all - the computer won't even turn on (I'm on a 2nd laptop).  The charger itself works, as it is a multiple line IGo charger.  I *believe* the issue is with the battery port, as it was having trouble accepting the charger.  Any help is appreciated on a solution. Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 Battery won't charge

Your in luck, well sort of. Sounds like you need a new DC jack. (Battery Port). The dc jack is a assembly that plugs into the motherboard, versus ones that are soldered on.Easy to get on ebay, and the web. Link to Ebay search Get the Hardware Maintenence Manual HERE, and you can do it,or hire someone.

Hello, I'm on my second battery with my Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop, because the first one would not hold a charge. The second one (less than 6 months old) will not hold a charge and will not recharge. The system goes dark immediately when the cord is unplugged. I am frustrated by this because I don't want to keep buying batteries. Is there some sort of fix for this that I need to know about? I have been reading some of these posts on here, and I tried to get to the officially published solution from the manufacturer "MIGR-69671" to no avail - bad link I guess. Please help me with a workable solution. I love my laptop and I don't want to buy another one - would rather try to fix this one if I can get someone to help me. Thank you.

I have the same battery problem that has been posted about over hereBut this is the second time this has happened, Lenovo Tech support in canada had no idea about this. They just checked the battery bar code for the recall, but this is the second time this has happened to me. This time as well the battery lasted only 8 months. So to all the others who are getting replacements from lenovo don't expect your replacements to last. Infact I had mine sealed packed for 3 months wasn't using the replacement  battery at all. My 4 year old dell laptop's battery still lasts atleat an hour.  And now since its been 20 months since my laptop purchase,  1 customer rep refused to even listen to me, the other 2 reps were helpfull but had no idea about the above link nor had an idea about what is causing the problem. So everyone who is getting a replacement would be in the same boat as me in a few months and lenovo is not going to do anything for you then. Whats the point of getting a replacement if thats going to fail ? I will never buy lenovo again and need to warn others . The other post related to this had been locked, couldn't add to that anymore.

Hi to all, I am a new member to this community and my name is Abdul, I have a situation with my N100 0768 model laptop whereas it shows the hard disk size as 90% used (95 GB out of 120 GB) while I have not saved that much documents on it, my documents on system is hardly 1 GB in total and I am wondering how did the hard disk reached to that level? I have tried using disk cleanup and some other softwares which deletes junk files but it still shows me the same, any idea from anyone to solve. As I am not a computer geek I will love to have a step by step solution to this. Thanks and have a good day.  Cheers,Abdul

Hi Everybody, 3000 N100 0768-6EU Laptop running Bios version V1.01 was looking to "update" to newer version the 3.12 63af08us.exe file. I understand how this is done and all that, HOWEVER: Silly problem is as follows,When actually getting to the point of  Phoenix WinPhlash screen is displayed the bottom third of the window is cut-off (you can't see or get to the "go" button to perform the darn update). Is it possible the God's are shining down on me, as we all know a bios update gone wrong is a BIG mess. I've tried to resize the window, it's not resizable, only closeable. I can go to the "advanced" button and see all that in there. I even tried resetting my desktop size no luck, normally run 1280X800 always. I have the only display driver avail for this machine, never had a program window do me like this one. I even tried Bios version 3.11 thinking maybe something funky with "latest" 3.12 download but still had cut-off lower 1/3 of program window. Any Ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.Rick

HI community,I had a bad experience with the original Lenovo battery in my 300 N100 notebook. It lasted just one year and 10 days and Lenovo refused to replace it because the computer was ten days beyond warranty.Therefor I want to optimize battery life and therefor only charge the battery when it is really necessary. I had a fairly good battery tool from Lenovo for my former Thinkpad, where I could set thresholds for start and stop charging in percent.Does somebody know a good battery utility for Lenovo 3000 N100 notebooks?Say it should be possible to set charge thresholds, e.g. start charging below 30% and stop charging above 80%.So I could leave the battery inside when it is connected to the power net and the battery is not "worked" in this case.Best regardsAxel

Today I contacted the local support center (1-800-426-7378) and was directed to someone in Atlanta.  The representative asked a series of questions, determined that my warranty had expired, and when I mentioned the word "battery" - proceeded to tell me how to determine the batteries eligible for recall.  Once he finally took a breath, I was able to tell him about the Forum instructions for owners of the 3000 N100 with battery - PN 92P1185.  Unfortunately, the representative was not aware of any battery replacement.  I was then transferred to another service area which handles warranties - since it appeared that I was really looking for an extension.  Nonetheless, I proceeded to tell this new representative about the Forum instructions, and once again I hit a dead-end.  Mark_Lenovo if there is a specific department that handles the battery replacements, please let me know.  Meanwhile, removal of the battery has resolved the abrupt shutdown issues, so at least I'm able to use my laptop once again. Thanks!DMReeves

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 Battery Issue (still exist)

I received a callback regarding this issue.  Turns out I am eligible and a battery replacement will be shipped out as soon as possible. Thanks!DMReeves

I was following the tips given by Mark_Levono and called Lenovo support and I was told that they will not honor the 18 months warranty to me since my warranty is over based on one year peroid.  I fully meet the replacement condition posted in the URL (see URL http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69671). They said they are not aware this and the link is not official announcement and maybe it is a outdated page. I only get few days left and I need help to get my Lenovo battery fixed. Can I call USA Lenovo support instead or if your guy have another number I can complain this? Thanks. Message Edited by jingyu on 10-07-2008 08:34 PM

Answer:Lenovo Canada refuse to replace my 3000 N100 bad battery.

jingyu, welcome to the forum, sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties. Were you given a call number by the rep you spoke to? This is very important as you say you only have a few days left. Whether or not you have a call number, I would call again and if possible refer to the call number; maybe you'll reach a more helpfull rep. Point out the MIGR-69671 document again, but also point out that it was last modified on 2008-08-25, printed on the bottom of the document, and that it is very much up to date. Make sure you get a new call number. If you are again refused, and are absolutely sure you meet all the requirements, tell them you wish to make a complaint and they should be able to start this process. Let us know how you get on.

I bought my 3000 N100 about 13 months ago and now this occurred: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69671 It says that "Replacement Program ended in October 2008 " so I can't replace my battery any more  ??? How I was supposed to know for that issue last year when my laptop worked fine ??? What about "Lenovo will replace eligible batteries (FRU 92P1186) with this failure symptom for an additional 6-months (total of 18-months) based on the system warranty start date. " from the same article ???  -  I'm still within 18 months based on the system warranty start date!  Is it fair that the customer have to pay for an evident error made by Lenovo ?

Answer:Shameful - Battery will not charge or discharge - Lenovo 3000 N100

I aggree completly. I had the same problem about a year and a half ago. I contacted them and they told me my computer was out of warranty and they wouldn't help me. I was so frustrated and upset I put my laptop in a bag and didn't use it for a year or so. Recently I pulled it out and began researching it again and find out they had a recall on the battery and it would have fixed the problem but I missed out on it. I think they should have contacted me since it was registered.

The battery is held on by a latch on the end of the battery that snaps back and forth to lock the battery on.  The other latch on the bottom of the battery is spring loaded and is the main latch that holds the battery on.  This latch fell off in my hand and the spring loaded section fell away into the computer.  I have the gray piece that slides back and forth.  Any repair info, part numbers, etc would be most helpful.Message Edited by chanwood on 11-28-2008 05:47 PM
