CAN NOT TURN ON WIRELESS RADIO

Question: CAN NOT TURN ON WIRELESS RADIO

Wold you help me please? Mine's a V200. I can not remember what happened but I can not turn on the wireless radio on. It says the hardware is turned on (the switch is always on), but when I press Fn5 and click ON, nothing happens. Is there a software I may have accidentally removed?

Preferred Solution: CAN NOT TURN ON WIRELESS RADIO

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: CAN NOT TURN ON WIRELESS RADIO

I seem to be having troubles getting my wireless internet connection to work. It was working yesterday, but now its just not going. I try to use the switch to turn on wireless signal, but it doesn't work. It shows the hourglass waiting for it to load and eventually it ends and nothing happens. Does anyone else happen to have had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Answer:Wireless Radio Won't Turn On

I don't know if you have ThinkVantage Access Connection or not. If you have it, then try uninstalling. If it's still not working, just let us know. So we can find what might cause this problem.

I cannot turn on my wireless radio. My kids were using the laptop within arms reach playing Wizard 101 when it lost connection. It did not appear to be a hardware issue since the laptop was just sitting on the table at the time, but I am not ruling it out. I uninstalled the hardware and reinstalled with no luck. I ran a Hijack This log as follows:EDIT: HJT log removed, no indication of malware, HJT logs not to be used for system troublehooting of system issues, logs not permitted in Vista forum ~ Hamluis. Please let me know what I need to do to isolate the problem. When I hardwire into the router, I have no problems. Also other wireless devices do not have problems connecting. I try to turn on the wireless radio and it never seems to turn on. I changed some settings to not allow the radio to be turned off, but that did not help either. Please let me know what I need to do. Thank youEdit: Sorry the computer is a Lenovo laptop with Vista Home Premium SP2. Pentium dual-core T4200 @2GHz, 3GB RAM. I do not appear to be having any other problems. It could be hardware, but I am having a hard time figuring it out.

I could use some help. Took the laptop out of town to a hotel that only had wired connections. When I got back to the office my radio was off and access connections will not turn it back on. Message says that either the hardware switch is off or the radio was disabled in BIOS. Checked Bios and it says enabled and this machine R61i does not have an external radio switch.

Recently my Wireless Radio Switch  was off on bootup and when I pressed Fn key with F5 I received this message "The Hardware Wireless radio switch must be in the on position to use the wireless radios" Now that was the key strokes I used in the past to turn the Wireless Radio on - I had turned off a couple of occasions in the past manually to save juice - and it wouldgive me a window with the option to turn on but now just the above message. Device Manager says I've an Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection #3 and it's status is Working Properly. Any help would be most welcomed

Hello, I am unable to turn on my wireless radio, I can turn on the Bluetooth radio with no problem. The system is a T61P 6457-8LU with Vista Ultimate. It uses a 4965AG wireless. All drivers and software is up to date, the BIOS is up to date as well  ( 08MAY2008 3pm EST ) The hardware radio switch is ON. Device Manager reports no problems. FN+F5 opens the correct screen and I can click to the ON button for the wireless radio, but nothing happens. Tried reboot with no change. This is the first time I have tried to use the wireless on this laptop, I have been using a wired ethernet connection before this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best Regards Michael

Answer:T61P Wireless Radio will not turn ON

I have the exact same problem In addition, I have experienced problems with DNS prior to this.  I can have msn messanger, my email and my web browsers all working but all of a sudden it would seem that DNS lookup failed. My applications that are currently connected to the internet would continue to function but any new attempts to browse the internet would result in "page not displayed" as if the DNS server had stopped answering. It is not an ISP problem - it happens on the train, at work, at home, at the customers site.  The problem is local to the computer.  I have suspicions that is has something to do with VMwares virtual network drivers. Anyway, after the latest bios update and removing vmware completely from my system - i cannot turn on radio. I went in via safe mode and deleted all my network drivers/cards and started effectively from scratch.  No luck.

I have a T500 with an AT&T wireless WAN card.  There is an AT&T SIM card in the SIM card slot, but when I attempt to use Access Connections to "Power On Wireless WAN Radio" ... nothing happens.  It just remains in an "Off" state.  If I try to use the "Mobile Broadband Connect" tool it attempts to use Access Connections to bring the device on-line, but fails after a couple of minutes of trying ... presumably it's failing to power the radio on. The "Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Minicard Network Adapter" device shows up as "Working" in device manager", and I have a corresponding and enabled network adapter which uses that device, but of course it shows up as "Network cable unplugged". I'm running Vista Business x64 with Vista SP2 installed, and have already made sure that all my T500 drivers / BIOS etc are up to date. Anyone seen this before, or have any suggestions? Moderator note: Type added to subject line for clarity. Hi all,

I have a Lenovo R3000 N100 that has an odd problem. The laptop recognizes that the Broadcom wireless network card is there, but it won't pick up any networks. I've figured out that the wireless transmitter isn't powered on, but I can't get it to turn on!

I've tried using the lenovo wireless update utility with no luck. The Broadcom utility offers me the option to turn the power on, but to no avail. When I press Fn+F5 I also see the option to turn the power on to the transmitter, but it doesn't do anything. I made sure the wireless button is turned on in the front of the computer (which it is) and I also checked the BIOS incase something there was related to the wireless card, but there was nothing.

I also ran the Lenovo system update utility and downloaded updates for the computer, but that didn't help things either. I'm stuck and I can't figure out what's going on! The device manager says this is working properly, too. Have I overlooked anything?

Thanks!

Christian

I got my laptop yesterday and the wireless was working off the bat. I connected and had no problems. Then I turned off the computer by accident with a hard shut down (Held power off button really long).Turned it on today and wireless didn't work. Turned out to be the wireless radio that was off. I tried turning the wireless radio on through the taskbar, the wireless options that Vista shows, as well as Fn+F5 but none of them worked. I tried flipping the wireless switch off and on, as well as flipping it off restarting and then flipping it on. I as well tried downloading drivers for the card straight off Intel's site and updating the drivers but that still doesn't work. I have no idea what is going on and I need help.

I'm attempted to get a wireless PCI adapter working in a friend's computer. The card is a D-Link DWL-510, and the computer runs Windows ME (ugh!).

I decided to start from scratch and uninstall the drivers, phyically remove the card, reinstall the drivers/utility and then install card again and have it auto detected.

After doing all that and getting it installed, the system tray utility (D-Link Air Utility) has an "x" through it and says Wireless PCI Adapter radio off! I have no idea how to turn radio on. I can't find anything in the configuation utility, there's absolutely nothing in the manual about it and I cannot find anything on google for enabling the radio on for this card.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

This has happened twice now (last night and this morning), I just purched the system a few months back.  Running XP, SP3. I don't know what triggers it, but the wireless radio just suddenly turns off. I then can't get it to repair the connection b/c the system doesn't think it has a radio! i try to turn on/off the radio with the ThinkVantage menu, but it won't give me the wireless menu (I can get to it when the radio is working). The only way I can get it to work is to reboot the system. What gives?

Answer:Wireless Radio just turns off and it the system then think there is no radio

Have you checked the settings four your wireless card . There is a setpoint that allows windows to shut off your wireless ( for power management I assume). On my machine you double click the wireless icon in the tray, click properties, under general tab, click configure next to wireless card, click power management. there should be a spot to check or uncheck allow computer to turn off wireless. Set it to be on all the time. That might help , but a lot of people are having wireless issues with this machine.Good luck

Hi all,

I'm using a Dell E7240, did a fresh install of Windows 10.
I can pick up all sorts of WIFI connections and connect to them successfully.

However when I wanted to use my internal 3G modem it tells me that the "radio is off" and I can't enable this in settings?
Its greyed out, if I enable flight mode is greys out the WIFI and Bluetooth switches.
When I disable flight mode it allows me to turn WIFI and Bluetooth off/on but "radio" remains greyed out.

Checked BIOS settings, checked driver for the Mobile Broadband Card, disabled and enable the adapter.
Still does not want to allow me to enable the radio. I can manage the SIM PIN so I can change it or turn on or off.

It even shows me the network provider if I disable the SIM PIN, but the radio remains off!

Any ideas?

Thanks

It even shows me the network provider if I disable the SIM PIN, but the radio remains off!

Any ideas?

Thanks
Carl

Answer:Windows 10 - unable turn on radio?

Hi there and Welcome to Ten Forums,

Have you checked any latest driver for your 3G modem? I'd also find out if there's any incompatibility issue.

Hi there. I changed internet providers and connected my printer to the new network. It immediately found it and I could print. Today, I couldn't get anything printed. When I checked in the printer, it stated that it was offline. I tried everything: manually enter IP addreses, searching, etc, until I printed the wireless diagnostic and it gave me the news that the wireles raio is not working (it appears as ?n" in the printer) and asked me to contact HP support. Well, I have tried everything on HP support as well to no avail (cannot even find my printer in the menu). Does someone know what to do? thanks!

Ok, did you try turning it off, leave for a few minutes, and then turn back on?

Is this wireless or wired? Did you try a new Ethernet cable? Can you see it connected in your router?

I am running Windows 7 home premium. It?s a Toshiba laptop but almost all the components in it are made by Intel. Everything was great and all of a sudden I couldn?t connect wirelessly. It tells me the radio antenna is disconnected. But it won?t allow me to turn it on. I opened the laptop hoping the antenna wires were just loose but no such luck. While I had it open I also took out the wifi card and reseated it. Whenever I reboot I always receive the message that this pc supports wireless connectivity. All my drivers are up to date. And I can connect to the internet with a cable.

I?ve been told this is caused by a virus. I am smart-phone illiterate but have a doctorate degree from the University of Hard Knocks in computer science. I don?t download or click on any links I don?t know about ? stay off of sites that are questionable and my anti-virus runs its scan daily.

HELP! I work online so it?s a real problem. I?ve run Malware, Antivirus and any other program I can think of to fix this. I can?t find anything online referring to a virus that would disable your wife. Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer:unable to turn on wifi radio antenna

It could well be that the antenna has become disconnected from opening and closing the laptop. On my Dell laptop, the antenna connection sits in a recess along side of the right hinge. The antenna itself is behind the display panel. The antenna connection is two semi-circular parts that "snap" together ? the one in the back goes to the antenna. The one in the front goes down to the system board connection.

There should be a hinge cover just above the keyboard that you can lift out with the laptop fully opened and laying flat. After you've removed the hinge cover, see if you can identify the antenna connection and make both parts are connected snugly.

If the connection is solid, on the other hand, it could be that the wi-fi card has failed and needs to be replaced.

Goal: I would like to set up an Ad Hoc network so I can connect my ipad to it by using a 3 party program, mHotSpot.

Equipment: Wireless Adapter: Intel Centrino WiMax 6250 (Device manager says is working)
Internet Access: Alcatel CDMA USB modem (functions fine)

Problem: I had this setup in the past (with Ad Hoc network + mHotSpot) but now it does not work. Hardware radio switch is off. Under "Manage Wireless Networks" it states "Wireless is not currently enabled." Under network setup, Ad Hoc is not even listed.

Changes: Several months ago, my keyboard failed. I replaced it with a generic brand. Since then I cannot turn on the hardware radio switch.

What I have done to fix the problem:

Hardware Radio Switch:
Fn+F2: Wireless icon appears - no change
Open WiMax Configuration Utility - will not change anything unless hardware turned on.
Fn+F3: Wrong key combination - puts computer into hybernation.
There are no physical hardware switches

Wireless not enabled
Activated Troubleshooter - no solution.
WiMax is associated with LAN 2 connection. Disabled. No change.
Turned off WiMax, Turned back on. No change.
Disabled Antivirus and firewall - no change.

Internet Sharing
Enabled on Alcatel CDMA modem - no change.
Enabled on WiMax LAN 2 connection (disabled Alcatel) - no change.

Welcome to Seven Forums.
I am no expert on this subject but have a couple of thoughts.

I will assume this is a laptop with a bad keyboard to which you've attached a USB keyboard. Since the lappy keyboard is "bad" the Fn and F2 keys may not be working, the add-on one doesn't have this Fn Function.

You could try uninstalling the WiMax drivers and reinstalling them. Try powering everything off for 5 minutes then restarting in order, Modem, Router, computers.

Hello, After a lot of figuring out this issue, it seems that there is a problem with the radio switch that turn off and on the wifi, bluetooth and wireless. For some reason at some point all of this radio's are turned off, and only by playing with it they return.A cold and warm reboot does not solve the problem. Also powering the laptop off, and removing the AC + battery does not solve the problem. I only figured it out today, after a lot of frustration and attempt to figure out the problem. Have anyone else experienced this issue and have good solution for it ?

I've owned a E220s for a few years and have never had a problem with it.  Normally, if I'm not travelling, I keep it plugged in to an ethernet cable for internet access.  About 2 weeks ago I attempted to use wireless and it didn't work.  Access Connections says that the wireless radio is not on, but the utility to turn it off and on says that it's on.I have completed every permutation of turning off my firewall, deleted and reinstalled boththe wireless adapter and the intel proset driver and access connections.  I'm out of ideas and wouild welcome suggestions - I'm getting ready to take an overseas trip and would love to use wireless.  thanks in advance.

Answer:wireless stopped working, wireless radio is on but access connections says it's not on

I should also add that I've reinstalled Power Manager and made sure it was set to "max performance", per some very old posts.  I checked the BIOS - it's both current and there doesn't seem to be anything that would be interfering.I'm convincing my self that  I allowed system updater to update some combination of the wireless driver, access connections, power manager and/or the BIOS and it stepped on the software switch for the wireless radio.I've looked at every post on this forum (and several others) with the search terms "wireless radio" and "wireless not working".  NO solutions to other problems have worked.  The one thing I've not done is to follow instructions to take the machine apart to get to the wireless card in order to make certain the wires are connected.  It seems pretty involved and there would have been nothing that preceeded this issue that would indicate the wire could become disconnected on it's own...

... and then turn back on again when the T61p is undocked. I have a co-worker who also has a T61p, and his wireless adapter behaves exactly like this.  That is, when the laptop is docked, the wifi gets disabled (you can see it happen while watching the Device Manager window in XP -- it gets a red 'X').  When the laptop is undocked, the wifi turns back on again, automatically.  There's wired Ethernet connected to the dock, so when docked the T61p uses the wired connection, and when undocked the wireless automatically turns on and connects.  This is perfect behavior for our use here. I can't figure out how to get this functionality.  The co-worker says he doesn't recall setting this up -- it just happened. (I looked at the Access Connections utility supplied with the T61p, but I can't figure out how to get it to detect the docked/undocked states as different "locations."  But the co-worker isn't using the Access Connections utility anyway, so it probably doesn't matter.) Does anyone know how to get the T61p to do what I want?  Thanks.

Answer:I want WiFi radio to automatically turn off when T61p is docked

You need to select the "Use Best Available connection" option (or similar, I forget the exact wording) in your Access Connection profile. This will automatically switch to a wired connection if one is available. Cheers, Bill

Hello,

Seems that you've done all sorts of troubleshooting. Have you tried opening up the case and see if the card can be taken out then reseat it properly? Careful though, you don't want to damage the Motherboard.

Is your laptop still under warranty? Might want to call Lenovo Support.
If not, perhaps shop for a new Wi-Fi adapter.

Hey everyone, New here...

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Vista Basic. I purchased a Netgear wireless router and had no problems after the install yesterday. I also downloaded an Anti virus program the same day since my protection expired recently. Now my computer froze last night so I turned it off before going to work. When I get home this morning I went to turn on the computer and it froze after I logged in.

After trying numerous times and using safe mode I was finally able to get past the log in screen, because the computer had to restore itself to a prior day's settings. Problem is now my wireless card is turned off, the "fn" and "f2" key are not turning it back on... any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Question: wireless radio

my wireless radio is turning on and off. my wi-fi catcher signal light is turning off, resulting in long period of no internet and the signal will cime many hours later with no reason, please I need help to fix this problem

Answer:wireless radio

I have moved to networking forum

do you have a PC attached to the wireless
would you download and monitor the wireless signal with this xirrus program, it may be interference from other wireless signals and a change of channel change may be all thats needed

Whats the make and model of the wireless router

------------------------------------------------------------------------
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Then run the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Im working on a Toshiba Satellite a65-s126. I cannot connect to a wireless connection. I have tried reloading the drivers and the utility that comes with the pc. i tried a rollback on the drivers. I made sure there were no physical button. I saw that "funtion" "f8" would turn the radio on but it has no effect before nor after the loading of the drivers and utility. I tried using a external usb keyboard. no luck. the "enable radio" funtion in the utility has been greyed out. I know the "f8" key works, i booted into safe mode just to make sure the key worked. Safe mode with networking does the same thing. Any suggestions??

Nevermind i figured it out. Well i didnt really figure it out but for some stupid reason i tried "funtion" "f8" again and it worked for some reason lol.

I have a Lenovo N100 0768-A53 with Windows Vista SP1, Broadcom 802.11g network adapter. Recently the wireless radio stopped working and will not power on. When I try to power it on from Access Connections, the button goes gray momentarily, then comes back active with the radio off. The hardware switch is in the On position. I have tried downloading and  re-installing the wireless adapter but that made no difference. I noticed that there is a Service called KeyIso that appears to be required for the wireless but is stopped. When I try to start it, I get "Error 193: 0xc1". Does anyone have any idea how this can be corrected?

Answer:Wireless Radio won't power on

Try to connect to a wireless network. When it shows no networks available, click on diagnose and repair this connection and see what option it comes up with. One of which should be to turn on wireless radio. If not it should hopefully come up with another solution that will help. Post back with any information from this.

Have you checked the status of the driver in Device Manager? If so, are there any errors or messages about the driver? I would also recommend checking Event Viewer when trying to enable the wireless and seeing if anything occurs there.

Best,

i have also checked under Control Panel>system>device manager>hardware>Network card and checked if the Wireless radio option isn't switched off from there. It isn't.

i have updated the driver yesterday but to no avail.
so jus wondering how do i get the thing to work ? ideas pls.

Answer:Wireless Radio issue

bostonrugby, welcome to the forum,

I don't have an N100 at hand, but is there a hardware switch for wireless on it? Probably located on/under the front of the notebook. It may be that the switch got turned to off, this results in similar messages to those you are getting.

I haven't been using wireless radio in my X61 tablet for a while, and i've just encountered quite scary problem.I cannot turn the wireless on, the hardware switch is in the right position for sure - bluetooth is powering up normally. When i click  "Power On" button nothing happens - the light doesn't turn on. When i use access connections to select wireless profile it goes thru "powering on wireless" but then it cannot associate with network.Intel diagnostic tool also says the wireless is turned on.Thanks for any help... Tom

I wonder whether anyone has come accross this problem. I have a R60e ThinkPad (0657-4SG) running XP with servicepack 2 and auto upgrades. The problem I have is the radio will not power up using ThinkVantage Access Connections (FnF5 doesn't power it up either) while the wireless hardware is enabled when the device manager is interrogated listing the hardware as 11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter and the driver as Atheros 4/1/2008 Version 7.4.2.105.  I think the modem setup is okay as I have a T40p communicating with the modem using wireless.  What am I missing, any ideas? JohnJ

Hello everyone!I have a notebook SL500 2746-FMG with a wi-fi card from Intel. A few weeks ago i noticed that wi-fi connection gets down too often (every 3-5 minutes). I checked the signal strength of my access point, but it was good (-30...-40dB) and another PC on a longer distance worked fine.I tried to reinstall drivers on the card, but after the procedure the radio status is always off though the hardware switch is turned on, LED is green. When I try to power on the device using Fn+F5 window, nothing happens: the status is still off.I've tried to reinstall drivers several times, even delete driver manually and after reinstalling it: device manager says that the device is working properly, LED is shining green but the status is still off What could be the reason? Appreciate for any help

I have a built in F3507g 3G adapter.  Sometimes after emerging from Sleep mode, I get a message that the SIM cannot be found.  This always is remedied by restarting my computer and sometimes by reentering and reemerging from sleep mode.  How can I stop this error from occurring?

Answer:Problem with Wireless WAN Radio

Specifically, the error is from Access Connections and its text is: SIM card is not present.  Insert the SIM and try again.

Hi new here and thank you kindly for your help. My radio wireless turns off after about five minutes on it's own.  I have seen on the net a fix by going to Access IBM....Open Access Connections and go into Configure, then Global Settings.  Uncheck "Enable automatic Wireless LAN radio control"Access Connections will turn off the wireless connection if idle to save power.     The only problem here is that Access IBM doesn't work.  It comes up and you can't click on anything.  I read this is because there was a security breach in an old version of Adobe which Access IBM used, and they plugged it but never upgraded it. So you can't use it...    Does anybody know how to get around this or another fix to my problem.   I have a T-40, by the way. Thank you.

OK, I think I've tried everything I know so I need the experts help. I have a t60, running XP SP3. I did install the additional Thinkvantage updates needed after SP3. No matter what I try I can not get the Wireless radio to power on. FN-F5 didn't help as it wont let me switch it on there. The switch on the front of the computer is on, I checked that. If I try to "find a wireless network"  it asked me if I would like to turn on the wireless radio then does nothing after I click Yes...No matter what I try it will not let me power it on...  Can anyone help??

Answer:Can't power on wireless radio!!! HElP!!

If you are using Access Conection 5.02 it may be the cause of not being able to use your wireless.  Scroll down for previous versions http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67283 .  I installed AC4.52 and all the problems stopped on a T60, using Vista 32 Home Premium

I can't enable my wireless radio. I have a pavilion 5000 laptop. The laptop has a button on near the keyboard to enable it usually. I disabled the radio while i worked on my router, and when I went to enable it by right clicking, there was no option. I realized the lit button that I push to turn on my wireless radio was not on. So I pushed it but it doesnt light up and there are no wireless networks found because its not looking for any. Is there an alternate way to turn on this radio? I already went through network settings and disabled and enabled the wireless.

Answer:Solved: Wireless Radio

Can you tell us which one of these --> http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Look...1&h_query=pavilion+5000&submit.x=0&submit.y=0 is your laptop? There doesn't appear to be a Pavilion 5000 laptop but there appear to be plenty in the 5000 series.

I recently reloaded Windows 7 and all software/drivers on my computer recently. The reason was mainly just because I wanted a fresh start, but also that there was some kind of problem with my Bluetooth driver and anytime I tried to uninstall it files started deleting from my hard drive. It seemed everything was working great, but I've noticed some trouble with my wireless radio.Often, when I click the physical switch on/off just the bluetooth light appears when I turn it back on. My laptop does not believe that the wireless radio is on. Everything is fine in BIOS. I don't have anything set in the Power Manager that should affect it.I was thinking it had to be something with drivers or something. Once I have it working, it stays on until I try to come back from a hibernate/sleep/shut down/restart. Sometimes it comes back fine, sometimes it doesn't. I couldn't figure out a pattern. Finally last night I just flipped the physical switch back and forth about a million times (bluetooth on/off/on/off) until finally wireless came on.Is that typical for the switch problems where only the wireless radio has problems? Thank you!

Answer:X200t Wireless Radio

Suzannetf,

It maybe necessary to uninstall the current driver (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features), reboot, and then install the latest driver package. Here is the link for your Bluetooth Driver. Let me know if uninstalling and reinstalling the driver makes a difference.

For verification, are you stating the Bluetooth Radio Switch On and once computer goes into sleep mode then awaken it does not register that it is on?  Have you tried the Fn + F9 toggle work to activate Bluetooth?

I have a T60 Thinkpad and my thinkvantage access radio keeps shutting off on its own. How do I stop this? My laptop is a little older, do I need an upgraded driver? Or do I need to re-install one? Help me....Please.

Answer:Wireless Radio Issues

Hello,Welcome to the forums! You've described a problem you seem to be having with wireless (wifi) but you haven't really provided any information that would prove useful to diagnose the problem that you're having.Could you tell us what operating system you're using, the wifi card you have in your machine? Also if you provide the machine type would prove helpful as well. The issue can probably be rectified easily by turning of a simple option in the power management of the wifi card, but without any details it's a tough call to make.

I know this is not really PC territory, but wonder if anyone can give advice.I'm looking for a DAB radio/CD player (hopefully more elegant than those ghastly football-shaped things) capable of transmitting wirelessly to an auxiliary compact player which can be carried room-to-room elsewhere in the house. I do not want to have to load all my CDs on to a hard disc, just to physically load them. Also I want to avoid internet radio. This seemingly mainstream need seems impossible to find a solution in my searches - any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:Radio/CD player + wireless

Hello.JerryH....I've never ever seen a combined dab radio/cd player much less one capable of wireless transmission. However, I believe there is a solution which might help but both will involve having to load cds into your computer. You should 'rip' all your cds as WMA 'Lossless' to ensure the maximum sound quality in terms of future output. Your soundcard should have a speaker output. If it does, I would recommend a pair of FM headphones. The base unit acts as the transmitter and the headset acts as the receiver and, usually, has reasonably good reception over a large area. My own soundcard is an Asus Xonar D2X linked via the speaker output to a Sennheiser HDR 130 base unit which is then fed into the headset. The alternative is to buy an internet wi-fi radio which could be linked to the computer to play sound files on your computer. That way a wireless router could be configured to link with an internet radio which can then be carried room-to-room as you suggest. You will still have to 'rip' the cds onto the computer for even this to work.I would then suggest you 'rip' the cds to the free WinAmp and import all your cd files into this. (I have no liking for Windows Media Player sorry.) By creating your own playlists, you can feed it into either an FM headset with base unit, or run the feed into a wi-fi internet radio which supports WMA. If you feel ambitious you could add a small plug-in which would automatically mix the tracks and play them radio style. In either case, both ... Read more

Hello,I recently purchased a T61 and have been using it to connect to my wireless router. It was working fine until it suddeny stopped working when I created a new location using a LAN cable connection through ThinkVantage . Now when I try to use the wireless connection, it tells me the wireless radio is turned off and that I need to turn it on. Clicking on the "Power On Wireless Radio" through ThinkVantage Access Connection doesn't help [Operating state: "Radio off"]. BTW, the wireless hard switch in the front of the laptop is turned on. Does anyone know what the problem may be? I decided it was time to update my BIOS in an attempt to increase startup performance of my T60.  It did help my startup time but I can no longer power up the wireless radio.  I have shutdown multiple times and tried the access connection manager to try to power it on but nothing will do it.  The WLAN powers up ok. (I don't use it though).  I have an Intel 3945ABG built in.  It shows ok in the BIOS. Running 32 bit Vista with all the latest updates. Any ideas for fixing this?  Is there a way to roll back to my previous BIOS?  If I reformat and reinstall will I get to a working state?    Thanks

Answer:Wireless radio will not power on

Hi:I am experiencing a similar problem with my T500. I updated the BIOS to 1.15 and since that time have been unable to turn on the wireless radio.I use Thinkpad Access Connections to manage various wireless locations, and I receive the message that "Network adapter is turned off by BIOS or hardware switch".I checked the BIOS and in fact the network adapter is enabled. I checked the driver, and in fact there was an indication that the wireless was turned off....however turning it on made no difference....even with a reboot. I also disabled the power-saving feature to turn off the wireless.I'm out of options. I see that there is yet another new BIOS available; maybe I'll try it, but other suggestions appreciated...Thanks, kklemmeoh yes, I have wireless adapter Intel 5300

I have set the wireless switch on, checked the Device Manager, and done the Fn-5 thing.  Nothing, it seems, will turn the radio on. I am using Windows 7 and I know that the hardware works because it worked for the first three days I had the computer.  I have spent days looking for a solutions. All drivers have been checked and are up to date. The wireless adapter installed is the Intel WiFi Link 5400 AGN.  The Lenovo site suggests that I should be looking for a LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter - this seems to be missing. There is no instruction about what to do if this does not appear in the list of Network Adapters.  Is this my problem - and if so, how do I correct it.? Any other suggestions, please?

Answer:T500 Wireless radio is always off.

Try going to the device manager and uninstall and installing the wifi card. this should solve the issue.
