Preferred Solution: E93z: System Update gets frozen during the update of Intel WIFI Driver

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

T510, XP 32bit. Running system update, it has now been stuck on the "WiFi Driver for Intel Cards (For windows xp 32bit)" installation going on 4 hours+ now.  This has happened with like model's / OS and the result is usually to force a reboot. And manually install it. Any suggestions why system update takes hours to install the WiFi Driver for Intel Cards (For windows xp 32bit)?

Answer:System Update Stalls at WiFi Driver for Intel Cards

It's hung for some reason and not actually installing  anything. Cancel the installation. Uninstall the WiFi card in XP and reboot so that its rediscovered and drivers will be searched for or direct it to the one you want to install.

Hi, I installed the latest driver version 14.3 ( 14.2.0.10 ) available at Lenovo site on my T400 running Vista 64 SP2 http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858 However the driver version seen in the 5350 adapter properties still show old version i.e. 13.04.000 (13.4.0.139 ) I tried to update the driver from the adapter properties but it says your system has latest driver.   I tried re-install but didn't help   Any idea what could be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks

Hey there samurai123,

Have you tried to uninstall the driver, download the driver to your desktop, and install it manually? Sometimes I find that this works when the version number does not update. Look forward to hearing back from you, Thanks!

Hey Guys, on my T540p, I configured the rapid start technology according to  http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/rapid_start_technology_user_guide.pdf Since I have performed a BIOS update to 2.14  and an update of the Intel Wifi driver to 17.0.5, I experience the problem of battery drain when the computer is in S4 sleep state, at a rate of approximately 0.125% per hour (on the 56Wh battery). This was not the case before these updates. There was no noticable power drain in S4 sleep state, even not over multiple days. I'm using Win7, I set all the WoL capabilities both in BIOS and in the Intel driver to disabled, according to  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Battery-drain-when-powered-down-Y410P/td-p... External device USB charge settings are also fully disabled in BIOS and Power Manager. The problem does not occur when the system is fully shut down, but in S4 Sleep state, which should be a zero-power state too, as it was before the updates. In the details of the BIOS update it is stated " Fixed an issue where the computer might fail to enter sleep state". Could the power drain be a side effect of this fix? Or is it an issue with the (new) Wifi driver, as it was the case for the Y410P? How could this battery drain be avoided? Has anybody experienced the same issue?Best, Martin

Hi there, My System: Lenovo X240 with Windows 10 x64 I have the following problem: Intel Wireless LAN Driver 18.11.0 stays in System Update even though it is already installed. What I have already tried:Downloading the driver from the website and repairing itUninstalling the driver from Control Panel, rebooting and installing it again from System Update Neither of the above resolved the issue. See the screenshot below (clickable): As I understand, System Update somehow fails to detect that the driver is already installed. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.

Hello.  I've noticed through the Support Assist program that I have two updates for the Intel WiFi driver and the chipset.  However, repeated attempts to update them have resulted in errors.  Downloading the WiFi driver separately from Dell's website, and then attempting to run it there, have led to the same result.  Tonight, I tried to update the WiFi driver again.  This time, the installer opened up a command prompt window with mup.exe, then the Intel window came up and said the installation was blocked because a newer version was already on the system.
How can I tell whether or not I even need the updates SupportAssist keeps pushing to me?  And if I don't, why does it keep pushing them to me?
Thank you in advance for your help.

My system has the10.1.1.38 chipset driver and I am not being pushed to install a later driver.  To see which driver you have, open Device Manager and look at the Intel 100 Series/C230 chipset family.
I changed my Wi-Fi card to an 8265 which Dell does not show Wi-Fi drivers but does show Bluetooth drivers, so I cannot help with that.

When I try to download version 18.11.0.8 of the Intel Wireless LAN Driver on my Windows 10-equipped Lenovo Thinkpad Helix (36984SU), I get the following popup during manual driver installation: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Driver.msi' in the box below." I have the options of: designating a new path to access the Driver.msi file, Ok, and Cancel. Since I'm unfamiliar with the paths, I typically click OK. When I do that, another pop-up comes up: "The path 'C:\ProgramData\PackageCache\{5368D82D-CAA5-48CC-9017-5BAAAB87591B}v16.6.0\data\Driver.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'Driver.msi' in a folder which you can install the product Intel (R) PRO/Wireless Driver." From here, I double-checked "Uninstall or change a program" and I couldn't even find the program "Intel (R) PRO/Wireless Driver", so I began looking for the driver files on both the Lenovo and Intel websites but I couldn't find the ones that were compatible with my machine, OS, and bit-type. Would fixing this be as simple as finding the correct program file and updating from there? If so, can someone direct me to the compatible driver files?

I was encountering this problem last week:
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...all-files.html

I did a clean reinstall and was sort-of able to get the laptop to boot to normal mode. I say "sort-of" because it still has a couple of issues:
1) After the clean install, Windows update downloaded about 150 updates. After rebooting, I ran into the same issue as before - unable to boot into normal mode. I did another clean reinstall and installed the Windows updates 1 by 1 and found that installing the Intel Graphics adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics adapter WDDM1.2 - Intel HD Graphics 4000 was causing the problem. If I don't install this update, I don't have the file corruption issue.

2) The other problem is that I can't get my laptop to display on an external display. The Win + P keys don't bring up the display selection dialog. I installed the above-mentioned Intel graphics update and the Win + P keys were working now - but now the laptop goes into safe mode within 10-20 seconds of booting up - same as the original problem. So now I can't display on an external monitor unless I install the Intel driver but the driver corrupts the system files and I run into the original problem.

3) The last issue is that the 'space' key on the laptop is acting oddly - hitting the space key almost always resets the cursor pointer a few words before where it's supposed to be, or the cursor just disappears. This didn't happen prior to the file corruption so I'm wondering if this is ... Read more

Okay, recently whenever i visit a page sometimes it will pop up into either a java update page with a smaller box saying to download something and this is the same for the intel driver update page also. But even more recently i have noticed that another popup has started to appear where it would turn the current page into a page saying you have a virus etc. And in the smaller popup box it says you must contact a phone number. Now i am not stupid enough to click anything on them pages or contact any phone number it provides.Another issue is that when i am not in chrome and i click a link to a weblink from something such as skype, it will open up another 4 tabs after the one i need to be on. Hi, On http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74433 the following version of the Intel HD Graphics Driver is anounced: Version:8.15.10.2253Release Date:2010/12/28 While the package contains a new driver for Intel Display Audio, which can be installed by manual driver update via device mangager it neither seems to update the last installed version 8.15.10.2202 of the graphics driver nor does it contain a new driver for Intel HD Graphics which could be installed manually. Recently Windows updated my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver. A few days later the same driver was released on Dell's driver support page.
Is there any correlation between Windows Update and Dell's drivers? Who does update the drivers Microsoft themselves or Dell needs to release the driver to Microsoft?
As this is the first time when Windows updated the driver is this how the Intel HD Graphics drivers are to be kept up-to-date via Windows Update?

Answer:Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

ZINGAM,
Referring to the Intel HD graphics driver.
Windows gets code from Intel for the driver and they will implement it in the OS. Dell also gets code from Intel and will release it. Also, Intel will post the driver on their site to download. You can uninstall the Microsoft driver if you choose and install the Dell update driver.

Windows Update is not telling me I need or can update my Wireless networking, but Intel's Update Driver Utility says I should and is offering the update. How would you recommend I proceed?

Answer:Should I trust Intel's Driver Update utility or Windows Update?

G'day Rolo,

The difference between the two drivers is that the Windows one is digital signed/tested by Microsoft. I would say that unless the Intel one delivers more benefit than the Windows one, and everything works as expected, then there is no need to update.

You often see this with graphics card drivers too, for example.

Golden

I've not had a problem with system Update 4 until today.  I went out to check for any updates and there was only one (Optional) listed so I went ahead and tried to install it. It is Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver for Windows 64bit.  The installed version is 9.5.7.1002 and the version trying to be installed is 9.6.0.1014.  The progress bar indicated it downloaded and tried to install, but ended with the error, "1 Package did not install."  Not a lot of help in that statement!?! Has anyone had a problem like this before?  Any idea how to "fix" it so I can install this update? I even tried once with MS Security Essentials, Windows Firewall and UAC turned off with no difference. System details are in my sig, below. Thanks for any help,

They pulled the listing for drivers on the T520 and I updated that just to see what might happen although I got it working its sluggish for that system. WiFi is marginal with the MS drivers and Lenovo offers nothing for it now. I tried to search on my Z70 but I was unable to determine which adapter was specifically installed. 3 were listed in Lenovo build spec's but that still did not tell me which one is in only the family name.

I uninstalled all ATI entries in ADD/Remove software, and restart the windows in normal mode. When windows find new hardware just let windows download the driver from web, so far it solved the problem.Lenovo should do a better job than just shove a copy of ATI driver to the update repository without test it.Also, if you use lenovo system update software updating any one or any combination of the following software: wireless card driver/hot key driver/access connection software, please do not expect it will work right after you run the update. In most castes, your fn+f5 is gonna to break or your access connection cannot load. NOTE:  This is a repost, under an equally accurate subject heading, of a previous post that didn't attract any replies:  I have an R61 (8918-CTO) with an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter.  I run Windows XP Pro SP3. After doing my best to ensure that that the extensive list of prerequisites was met, I tried to install the following Intel Wireless LAN update: Intel Wireless LAN (abgn, abg, bg) for Windows XP - ThinkPadhttp://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70504Version: 12.04.0000Release Date: 2009/04/06Update Package Filename: 6hwc05ww.exe I selected a "Custom" install and added the Intel Wireless PROSet component and its subcomponents to the components already selected in the "Typical" install.  (The instructions said to preselect Intel Wireless PROSet if I use Access Connections, which I do.) I got the following error message partway through the install routine: Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software Error 1334. The file 's4trans.cat' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. Upgrading Intel wireless driver on Intel AC-3165 to 18.40.0.9 causes wifi to fail and cannot find any access points within range. The upgrade adds a 'new' device to device manager called 'Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter'. This new device has a yellow exclamation next to it. Uninstaling the new device does not resolve the issue. Only rolling back the driver to 18.33.0.1 or 18.32.1.2 recovers wifi connectivity. Can someone please explain how to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

I have an HP Envy 34 AIO and had the same thing happen. I tried to roll back the drivers, but to no avail. I also did a system restore to gain back connectivity, but the updates kept coming. Ultimately, I had to use an Ethernet cable to get connected. Hopefully another update will come out soon to re-enable the Wi-Fi adapter.

After a Lenovo update of wifi components, I can no longer enable Intel My Wifi Technology. Solutions I have tried so far: -Uninstalling Intel ProSet/Wireless software and Intel Widi and reinstalling with latest versions from Intel website (installing Proset first, then Widi, with reboots in between) -Reinstalling latest Wireless LAN driver from Lenovo -Accessing ProSet/Wireless from uninstall program list, click change/next/change, removing My Wifi fromProSet features; reinstalling My Wifi to ProSet features. Icon in tray continues to say:"Intel My Wifi Technology: Adapter not Found"Intel My Wifi Utility is only option available on clicking icon (all others greyed out). Utility is set to Enable on Startup and to Never Disconnect.Never had a problem with it until a few days ago. Even tried a system restore to before the Lenovo update, with no luck. Anyone have other ideas for me?

Answer:Intel My Wifi Adapter Not Found after update--cannot restore it

Hi lectrolink,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community,

I'm really sorry to hear about the wireless issues your facing and I hope we get this sorted out for you. Based on your post there maybe some conflict in the software that needs some adjustment. However in order for me to assist you further could you let me which machine you currently have?

From there it would be easier for me to determined which specific drivers you may need.

Do let me know.

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

I recently set up a new Dell 7710 Precision Workstation (Xeon E3-1535M v5 w/Intel HD Graphics P530; Nvidia Quadro M5000M; Windows 7 Pro). The Dell Precision Optimizer (DPPO) tells me there are no updates at all (no Critical, Recommended, or Optional). However, the Intel Driver Update Utility tells me I have an older chipset (14.6.1.1030) that should be replaced by a newer chipset (10.0.27). I don't know if the DPPO is taking into account particular aspects of this system that make the 14.6.1.1030 the “correct” (even if not the latest) chipset. Perhaps the DPPO should override the Intel utility. Any thoughts?

Answer:Driver Updates: DPPO vs. Intel Driver Update Utility

I uninstalled a driver on purpose to test the dell optimizer utility and it is telling me no updates available ! I rebooted the laptop. same thing. In device manager the device is showing as other device with a yellow exclamation mark  !!!! How do I trust the optimizer now eh ?

Hi,
I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number 8.15.10.1590. So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

Windows Display Driver Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
that should be a good read....

what they mean pre-release means that these drivers are beta drivers (there is a difference between pre-release drivers and pre-release wddm 1.1 drivers)

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (Type 2801). I've recently been having trouble with slow speed, in particular with downloads and the internet. I tried several things; a couple times I thought I had found the source of the problem (disabled Java and other extraneous add-ons), but unfortunately it still takes a long time to transfer to and from sites on the internet and normally simple downloads take 10x longer to complete. I contacted tech support, and I was advised to go to ThinkVantage system updates. I discovered that I had several updates to perform, one of which was to update to Intel Wireless Wifi for Windows 7 64-bit (I currently have 32-bit). I was able to complete almost every other update except the wireless mentioned. I tried two times and was unable to complete the download. Is there any underlying reason why my comp might not be able to do this?

Hi thereI have a problem with updating my intel driver on my Aspire v3-772. Currently my driver page states that version10.18.10.3355 is the latest, but the problem begins when i run intel driver update utility and try to install the latest driver 15.36.31.4414 straight from intel. The program installs normally and asks to restart my laptop to apply the final changes but after reboot when i run the intel driver update utility it states that my driver still needs to be updated again with the same driver software meaning the previous installation didn't install properly. Is there a way to install the latest driver or a way to contact acer to update their custom intel driver for my laptop? PS - I tried unistalling the previous version from acer then installing the version from intel it didn't work

Answer:please update intel driver

You can get the latest driver 10.18.15.4256 dated 20/08/15 for your model from here:http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/4732?b=1Intel's latest drivers may have been released to accommodate provisions for newer cpu and other hardwares, you don't need newer drivers for your system function properly IMHO. I would suggest you to leave Windows to decide which drivers suitable for your system and if you are not happy, get the drivers from Acer download site. HTH.

Hi good people,

So, I'm on here like thousands of others with intermittent wifi issues. I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 yesterday and everything works very well except for losing my wifi connection every 30 minutes to an hour.

My wireless adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n
the driver I'm using is Broadcom version 6.30.223.256

I've updated the drivers and the same loss of wifi happens. I've rolled back the drivers and the same loss of wifi happens. I've even tried a driver directly from the lenovo site that is a Cybertan Liteon driver that is the latest version for windows 8.1.

I've also unchecked the box in the power management page. Then rebooted.

I've also used all the commands, in the command prompt admin that start with 'netsh'. Then rebooted. The same thing still happens.

So, I'm up for new suggestions including compatible drivers from different manufacturers.

I'm really hoping there's a Z585 user on here that has solved this issue. According to the Lenovo web site this particular laptop has the latest drivers on the site and none of them are working so far.

Answer:Lenovo Z585 losing wifi after driver update, driver rollbacks, 'fixes'

One of my programs has been crashing recently and, after contacting the support team of the program, it seems like the issue is caused by my Intel graphics driver being out of date. Since HP does not update the driver automatically, support suggested downloading the most recent driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25978/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36- . However, the installer wizard throws the notification that this driver is not installed for my machine. Is it safe to install the driver anyway, through the steps listed at the page mentioned above? If not, is there another procedure to update my driver to the latest version?

When I run the subject program (have latest version - 2.4), the scan tells me my graphics driver (for Win 7, 64-bit) is currently version 10.18.10.4358 and that a newer version, 15.33.42.4385, is available. I click the [Download] button, and it downloads a 124MB file. Then the [Install} button lights up. I click it, it goes thru the motions, but when it finally starts installing, it says it's installing ver. 10.18.10.4358 ! And sure enough, after the install finishes and I reboot the computer, when I do another scan it says I have version 10.18.10.4358 and 15.33.42.4358 is an available update.

What's wrong?

The newest graphics drivers for the Thinkpad P50 contain Intel driver version 21.20.16.4550 (the latest available from the Support site). This version of the driver (as well as older versions) has a bug which causes Google Chrome to jitter when in full screen and moving the mouse around the page. (See http://crbug.com/672448 .) Intel has released a version of the drivers (21.20.16.4590) which is reported to fix this problem. I tried to install the updated driver from Intel, but the installer tells me that I can't because I need a driver version customized by Lenovo instead. Is there some way around that to install the new Intel driver? Will it hurt in any way to do that? Is there some way to get Lenovo to release a new set of drivers with the updates from Intel? Thanks!

I recently used Intel's website to update a graphics driver. After I did this I noticed that my screen would blink every 2 or 3 seconds. I did not think much about it until I took the Laptop to work the next day and this blinking thing did not happen. I then tried it again at home and it started blinking again. I use a Verizon hot spot at home and use AT&T(wireless also) at work. Any idea what could cause this?

Answer:Intel Driver update issue.

The driver installed from Intel could possibly be the culprit. Look for the correct video driver from your laptop manufacturing support site.

Simplified graphics driver versions
Added scroll bars to list of driver results
Fixed an issue where the wireless networking adapter was missing from the scan results for some Intel® NUC kits
Fixed an issue where older or matching drivers were selected for download
Added translated text for driver categories
Added information about generic drivers for Intel components in OEM systems

I have a Thinkpad R61 with an onboard Intel GM965 and running Vista Home Basic. The current (v7.14.10.1437) version of this video driver has serious issues in many low requirements games (such as World of Warcraft). I noticed that Lenovo published updated drivers for Windows XP in January, but has not updated the Vista drivers since April last year. Is Lenovo not supporting this operation system anymore? I have tried updating from the Intel page, but it tells me I need a customized manufacturer driver. Just to be clear, I know for a fact that it's the driver causing the issues I'm experiencing in games (e.g., the "driver stopped responding but has recovered" error). I forced the installation of the latest intel drivers and the games are working fine. However, my display is unusable on battery power if I use anything but the manufacturer drivers. So I can either have a fully functional work laptop, but with no gaming, or a laptop that can do gaming, but cannot be used if unplugged from the power chord. Sigh.... If there are any Lenovo support people on this forum, I'd like to know if I can expect any driver updates for this video processor on Vista in the near future.

Hi,after adding 3x2 gb ram Micron ddr3  (in total 12gb on mobo) to my HP Pavilion Elite m9661pl , computer started restarting randomly on its own, so I decided to update Intel x58 chipset driver but Intel driver update utility failed I do not why?my configuration:CPU -Intel i7 -920mobo- Pegatron Truckeegraphics - AMD/ATI Radeon HD4850ram - 6GB DDR3any help would be highly apreciated.Regards,Kelob

Answer:intel x58 chipset driver update

HI. Since when this happens? .. Note that if it is to root the new hardware will have to remove it and see if it happens without it, you can remove the CMOS battery and do a hard reset to the bios and try, maybe you will have to update The bios and see if it solves this.If the driver is from the official page, this should not be the problem, you can try device manager and get the hardware ID and look for a previous driver, not always a current one works the same way. Regards.

So the Intel HD driver for the W540 - and all Optimus laptops from this generation - is 10.18.15.4256. It was released by Intel in August 2015, and it is so old that it still lists the current Win10 build as an Insider one. (Not even mentioning the Nvidia driver, which is also several months out of date). Meanwhile, the Intel-only laptops with the same GPU, such as the T440s or T540p, are on version 20.19.15.4416, released by Intel in March 2016. This driver is miles ahead of the Optimus T540ps and W540/1s. Will we ever see an update?

Good Day Ladies and Gentlemen,

I recently have been having WiFi connectivity issues as well as BSOD issues caused by driver version 15.9.1.2. I downloaded the new version, 16.1.5, from Intel's website but when I try to install it I get the picture below on my desktop with green circles around it but nothing happens. Attached is the picture and my latest diagnostic test.

I currently have a driver dated 5/2/14 for the Intel 82579V adapter. When I run the Intel utility it reports it's outdated and installs the latest one (v20.1) dated June 2015, but after install and upon checking Device Manager I see that the old driver was not updated. Any way to clean install the new driver? Thanks

Answer:Unable to update Intel LAN driver

That would be because there is not a new one. The driver is only updated if there are security flaws, or changes in removing outdated code.

Those driver packages, actually cover a wide range in that chip series.

Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0)

I just had this driver show up in my windows update but when I got to install it I get this error:

Is anybody else having this problem? Or have any ideas how to fix it?

I downloaded and ran the Intel (R) Driver Update Utility on my ASUS X54C Laptop which is running Win 8.1

I found it at: Intel® Driver Update Utility

I ran the utility and the utility found two updates which I downloaded as per the screenshot below.

My questions are

(1) .. should I install these two updates?
(2) .. is there any risk in installing the updates?

I should mention that I have not had any problems with my laptop and am wondering if I should leave well alone?

Answer:Intel (R) Driver Update Utility

The Intel driver update utility is safe. These are Generic drivers though, if your not experiencing any problems there's no need to download them if your X54C came with windows 8. The version changes are minimal the chipset for example is for newer hardware(the x54c is at least 3 years old) and the HD graphic are changes for specific video games/screen hardware. Because they are generic drivers provided from Intel and have not been cleared through ASUS there is always a minimal(however small) possibility that it might cause problems and have to roll back which is easy(happened to me once). Best is to go here and see if there are any updates.

Hello

I got a strange problem on a friends computer:

Crashes randomly and it also crashed on visiting Intel Auto identifying tool before I knew he had AMD, but still.
That tool can start but crashes way before it even finishes.

Can someone take a look on the log files and see what's up with those crazy bsod's.
I'm not sure but I think it's a windows update maybe thing that have gone wrong...

Thank you kindly.

Answer:intel auto driver update BSOD

Inteldriver.exe loaded cpudrv.sys and generated an exception. The exception was caused because the driver attempted to execute a 64-bit instruction on a 32-bit system.

cpudrv+0x674:
9ad8c674 0f32 rdmsr <-- Crash

9ad8c683 8901 mov dword ptr [ecx],eax

Recommendation: Don't run a 64-bit Intel driver on a 32-bit AMD CPU.

Well! That was a jarring experience! Just got a update via WU for Intel HD Graphics 4600. During install, it went absolutely bonkers on the display. Kaleidoscope wacky! Just let it be for a minute or so to finish install, then power button off/on. Wow!

Answer:New Intel HD Graphics 4600 Driver Update in WU

This one seems to have messed my Windows 10 opening icons (e.g. the cogwheel when opening settings app), they're like pixelated or lower quality. Restart didn't fix it, going to uninstall clean and let it download from scratch via WU again.

Update: Yes, it worked, icons are normal again.

I have an Intel GT 1000 NIC installed in my XP Pro SP3 PC.

I downloaded the driver update file for this NIC: "PROWin32.exe", version 16.6, dated 9/30/2011 for Windows XP 32 bit.

The install failed with the following error message:

I emailed these details to Intel Tech Support but have not yet heard back from them.

I searched my PC for "VC90_CRT_x86" and found it in many *.cab files but not as a single file anywhere else on my computer.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the new driver to install?

I'm using the GT 1000 because the Realtek NIC that is on my MOBO failed a couple of years ago.

Answer:Intel GT 1000 Driver update FAIL!

Isn't the file it's looking for, a file from the installer from a previouse intel installation...

Try installing a previouse version then go to the newer one ?

Long time issue...Finally took a moment to post.
I can't install the latest version of the Intel Sata Driver package on my Precision M4700.The problem is the same whether I install directly from download or via DELL COMMAND | UPDATE
The update fails and complains that .NET framework 4.5 is required. I have .NET 4.6.1 installed, I was assuming this supersedes 4.5.
What should I do ? Go back to .NET 4.5, install the driver then reinstall .NET 4.6.1 ?

Answer:Intel SATA driver update fails

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. I think the easiest fix would be to go down to 4.5, install the driver, and then go back to 4.6.1. Here is another customer describing the same issue but on another system model and it fixed the issue.

Let me know if this works for you.

Best regards,
Brad

I have just downloaded and installed Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0. Two things happened and I can't figure out why.

1. During installation Microsoft .NET framework 4.5 downloaded and installed. I have Windows 7 Ultimate without SP1. According to Microsoft, the .NET Framework 4.5 requires Windows 7 SP1. I'm not complaining, but from experience I have learned that Microsoft software will not install if the requirements for Windows, the Service Packs, and Updates are not met. Why did it install?

2. I opened Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0 and clicked on 'Auto detect and recommend drivers>'. After a few minutes it showed the Installed version, 8.15.10.2869, and the Latest version, 15.17.19.2869. I downloaded the latest version - the file name is Win7Vista_151719 -, installed it and restarted the PC. But, Device Manager, Programs and Features, and Driver Booster 2 from IObit all show version 8.15.10.2869. I ran the Intel app again, and again it showed the original info. Viewing the Properties of the downloaded file, further confuses the issue, it shows 8.15.10.2869! Am I missing something?

PS I don't need to update the graphics driver and I'm grateful for the MS .NET Framework 4.5, but I believe we are never to old to learn.

You can always roll back changes in device manager if driver won't work.

Hello folks
Every time I try the Intel Driver Update Utility it fails to find any results.
(Of course this could be because I'm all up to date but in the past I've ran a scan when I know for sure new chipset drivers have been released and it still never found anything).
Googling reveals that a number of people have this problem, and the suggestion always seems to be click the 'Search manually' button.
But when I do this I don't recognize any of the options.
I'm probably being dim, but Intel's naming conventions confound me!
I have an X99 board. An AsRock X99 Extreme6 to be specific.
Is that a series C610 board? (Some entries in Device Manager suggest this.)
Is this a series 8 board?
In the Driver Update Utility > Search Manually menu I choose Intel 8 Series Chipset Boards. The options are boards with names like DB85FL, DH87MC, DZ87KLT-75K. Haven't a clue what any of those are!
So I try 7 Series, but that points to another lots of DQ prefixed boards. 6 Series points to DH prefixes.
I don't know what any of this stuff is!
I have an X99 board. How do I look for things relevant to X99?
Is X99: 8 Series? C610 Series? Something with a DH/DQ/DZ etc prefix?
Help!
Thanks. :)

The current driver for the E520's HD 3000 Driver is 8.15.10.2509 Intel's website shows a newer driver for the HD 3000 Series: 15.28.15.64.3062. The issue, is that the only way to install drivers is through Lenovo's software update tool. Using Intel's always ends up failing on the install. Levovo's graphics update tool only has the 8.15 version..and not the newest one. The newest version of Intels HD 3000 driver has OpenCL support. How can we get this for our Thinkpad's????

You don't need to use that Intel Utility at all. Just download the correct driver(s) and do it manually.

I have never used that utility, and every Laptop/PC I've ever owned has had Intel CPUs, chipsets and sometimes Graphics, Networks cards etc.

Hi folks.
I did a search on the intel site for driver updates and there was an update available which I installed. As well as the intel HD graphics driver,it also installed something called "intel SDK for openCL CPU only runtime package" in program and features.I can't find a clear explanation for what this does.It was only the driver I was wanting. Can this be uninstalled or is this needed?Any help is much appreciated.

Answer:Intel driver update advice needed please!

"Can this be uninstalled or is this needed?"
The short answers to those questions are 'yes' and 'no'.
The files are for the use of developers of OpenCL applications on Intel Architecture. You'll have no use for them.
