Preferred Solution: 39m0578 - need hd caddy - IBM will not sell it

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: 39m0578 - need hd caddy - IBM will not sell it

they won't sell it because it's not set up in the system as a separate part. it's only intended to be included with a hard drive. you'll have to purchase it through a third-party reseller.

Having tried Windows 8 and being quite unimpressed by it as a desktop/laptop user. I've been showing it to some of my customers that have yet to upgrade from XP.

Just told them to have a 'play with the near future!" I then walk away for 15 minutes.

I now have orders for Windows 7 machines.

Windows 8 certainly does one thing very well, makes Windows 7 look very desirable to the average Joe User. I don't have to say anything.

Thanks Microsoft.

Answer:Windows 8 helping me sell sell sell.

Ok showing them a beta of a product no be releases for another six months? Nice.

Withreagrd to sale value click here and compare yours against similar spec systems. As for the chioce between the Dell & the Mesh that will come down to personal preference - me I would have the Mesh. Both have threads on here critising their after sales service - but the overwhelming majority of people buying from either have no problems and are happy with their purchases.

First of all, this is not a salesroom. However I do realise you are trying to find out a value for you merchandise.Breaking it down to separate parts, I`d visit E-bay and look at what the traders are asking.i.e How much does RAM cost? How much does a particular HDD, or CPU or motherboard, or DVD or CD reader RW or whatever costs. Then offer them on E-bay, E-bid, or a local shop that will advertise for you.I`d also like to know why you are selling such a PC.

Is there a way to get rid of this without formatting? If I format the computer what will happen since I don't have the software? If I do have to format, how do I do it?

Answer:How Much Should i sell this for? and where?

Given that frieght will be a significant % of any value, you need to give a location and country.

Any computer is probably worth 1/2 of the cost after about a month, it only goes down from there.
If someone has to factor in freight (or you do) then that's another chunk gone.

I dont really have the room for my desktop anymore so I am selling it and am just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what to charge. The specs are below.

HDD = 250gb
Ram = 2gb
CPU = Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz
Graphics = NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE

OS = I can provide either XP, Vista or windows 7

It can also include antivirus and microsoft office.

Answer:How much should I sell this for.

You can only provide software if you provide the legal and original license, otherwise its worthless and illegal.

I wouldn't expect more then $200, maybe a bit more - but only if legal and original software CD and License included.

Question: sell my pc

Would it be all right to sell on Ebay. I was hoping to get £200. I built it in 2002 and it is still running. It is built on a Gigabyte motherboard in an Antec case. AMD Athlon XP 2800 2.08 ghz, 2 gb memory, AGP graphics 250 mb, 2 IDE HD 250 gb and 200 gb plus 2 SATA drives 80 gb each, Audigy. The OS is XP and also Vista. There is also Windows 7 not installed yet. Would you please let me know if it would sell. Liza

Answer:sell my pc

IMHO I think you would be lucky to get £200 for it, more likely £100 to £150, even though yes, it is no doubt actually worth more than that. It is after all, about 8yrs old. No doubt you are aware that in PC Terms, that is Ancient!

Hello - I have a laptop configured as shown below. I actually got it about a month ago, there is a display problem that I have sent it into support already. I've already talked about it here: http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=12209 - they sent it back, but it still isn't fixed. And they also managed to put some scratches on the lid of the laptop, too. I'll probably call support once more again to see what they would do. I'm going to be staring at the same screen for at least two years so it might as well be something I like, even though other people don't readily notice the same problem I do. Question: Which AV to sell?

I've been selling the retail and OEM versions of NOD32 in my shop for about 4 years now because it is a great product, and I could buy them in volume at Newegg at a good enough price to make a decent margin on them at MSRP. Newegg isn't giving volume discounts on them anymore, so I need to look for another option.

I contacted ESET when I opened about becoming a direct reseller, but at the time the best they would offer me is 10% off with my volume, which didn't come close to what I was paying at Newegg. I have tried contacting them again because even 10% is better than what I'm getting now, but I can't get them to return an email/phone call.

My customers have really liked NOD32, so I don't really want to switch, but if it's not paying the bills I don't have much choice.

I was just wondering what the rest of you shop owners are selling/recommending for consumer and home users?

Answer:Which AV to sell?

YeOldeStoneCat and marley1 are NOD32 resellers and frequent this place. Maybe one of them could set you up with a sales rep?

We throw MSE on the machines that totally lack an AV and for those that want to pay for one, we have a bulk of NOD32 at the moment. When that runs out, I'm not sure where will turn, but I'm subscribed to see what kind of resolution you reach. I looked into reselling for ESET but I couldn't guarantee a price bracket each month (we primarily do service contracts so new AV purchases aren't all that prevalent other than walk-ins).

Answer:Trying to sell my PC what's the best way?

I notice that you appear to be quoting $US, so perhaps a look nearer to home might bring a better result.
Usually a look on eBay provides some similar items, and a price that the seller might be seeking.Having got that sort of information, then perhaps go from there, because at the end of the day, its what a future purchaser is willing to pay, and not what you might consider its worth.

Can I sell this unused copy of Windows XP Pro as long as I include a piece of hardware? There is a product code on the back.

Am thinking of selling on my laptop - what is the best approach to getting it ready for that - should I reset the PC under the settings / options? Obviously I will not keep to choose any personal files and I will make sure our office 365 currently installed on it is uninstalled and removed before selling on. Presumably that option to 'reset this pc' will return it to how it was when I turned it on the first time having been delivered from the manufacturer?

Once reset, what happens to the laptop which is listed under 'Devices' if I view my Microsoft account in a browser. At the moment I see my current desktop and this laptop listed under devices. Will it automatically dis-associate itself from my account and disappear from this list or will I need to remove it? We have a family account setup, so the laptop also currently shows under 'devices' my wife's account and my son's child account. Will these also disappear? Basically once sold I do not want any trace of the laptop on our Microsoft accounts. Presumably there will be no unforeseen knock on effect for our MS accounts on our desktop which will be keeping.

Thanks,
Wayne

Answer:Resetting a PC to sell on

Hello Wayne,

Resetting the laptop is usually the best option and then you can hand over all the software and recovery disks (if any) that came with it. Laptops vary with how this works, some come with a hidden recovery drive containing a full windows OS installation, others rely on recovery disks or that you create one yourself.

Did you upgrade to W10 after you bought it? If so you might want to leave it with W10 and do a clean install and set up a new local account that you can pass on to the new owner. When you clean install you can do a full reformat of the hard disk(s) to be sure any personal data is completely removed.

The Microsoft account may still show the old laptop details but you can easily remove it from your account (and other family members) if this happens. There should be no knock on effects.

I'm gonna finish soon a new & revolutionary Palm software that I need to sell over the net.
It's the first time I'm gonna sell soft online.

I need good tips about the whole bussiness, starting from how to get the money delivered to how to get listed at download.com and sell though them, BIG etc.

Any has any ideas about books or sites about the subject or wanna help by giving tips?

Thanks!

Answer:How can I sell software over the net?

If it is a new 'genre' of software (meaning something hasn't been done before) offer the first version for free for download, get people hooked and interested and get buzz going, hold some major features back at first if needed, then once you get a good install base going, start looking at asking people to pay for it.

I am probably not the only one, but unless it is a completely necessary app, I will not pay for anything if something similar (even if it is not quite as good) is availible for free.

I'm thinking about selling a sys with the following specs, but am still not sure.

Cybertron case
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nVidia Socket 939
Seagate 200 Gig hdd (2x, 400 gigs total)
2 Gigs of PC 3200 RAM
Pioneer DVDR, DVDRW, CDR, CDRW,
XFX GeForce 6800 GT (256MB DDR3,) (x2)
there are two PCI express cards in this system

AMD 939 3500 (64 bit)

I want to replace it with a newer system, but I haven't made up my mind...

comments? Requests? If I sell, it should go for about 2.5-2.6 grand.

I hear that the cell CPU will be far superior to any 64 bit, so I'm pondering waiting to upgrade until I can get a cell system.

what do you think?

Answer:sell old machine, get new?

thats quite the crazy set up..im not sure if ide pay 2.5-2.6 grand for it though, maybe 2 grand if i had that kinda money to spend.

Why are you selling that though? that computer would do you for so long.

To each his own they say =\

I am not asking to sell on here, so do not get the wrong idea.

I am simply asking if it's okay to sell Vista at all.

Due to some wierd circumstances, I'm about to have way too many versions of Vista.

They aren't OEM, they are retail.

I was gonna give one to my neice, but she didn't want it

So now I have too many versions...

So is their something against the EULA of selling a unopened retail version, or can I go ahead and put it up on Ebay?

Answer:Okay to sell Vista?

yes you can sell your retail version, provided that you do not keep a copy of it. For further reference see:

P4 2.66 GHZ Processor
1 GB RAM
80 GB Hard Drive
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Card
SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
PS/2 Compatible Mouse

I use it primarily for gaming, and just the regular web surfing....

My question is should I sell this computer, get around 1000-1500, and buy a better "gaming computer". For instance, emphasize more on the video card than the hard drive, you know what I mean?

Your computer is pretty good as it is. I would just get a new video card and keep everything else.

I bought my PC for about 800£ around this time last year. I have;

Intel i7-4790 processor 3.6 GHz
16GB RAM
Nvidea Geforce GT 720
About 900 - 1000GB memory

I was planning to sell my mouse and keyboard, with a WiFi adapter. The mouse and keyboard aren't worth much and the WiFi adapter is a TP-link Archer.
Any suggestions on price?

Answer:How much can I sell my custom PC for?

No, we are not in a position to advise on selling prices, and for that reason we don't do it. I suggest that you take a look on Ebay - you'll get a pretty good idea from looking at the specs of similar machines offered for sale.

Hi, I'm thinking of selling my spare PC cheap to a family acquaintance but I'm worried about the security aspect.
I've deleted my docs and pics folders, games and stuff, and deleted my AOL software, will that be enough?

Or will he (or his friends) be able to re-install AOL off the net and log into my account?
I'm with AOL on my other computer, so is my AOL account linked ONLY to one computer at a time, in which case I'm secure aren't I?
Sorry but I don't know about how the IP address thing works.

If you have a Windows install disk the best way is to delete everything on the HDD and reinstall the Operating system.

There's a command-line utility in Ubuntu called shred, which overwrites data in a file or on a device with random bits and bytes, making it nearly impossible to recover.

I'm about to buy a laptop. It comes with a Win7 license. I asked the manufacturer if I could purchase the laptop without the license to save a little $ as I already have a Win7 license. They said no...

Can either the license I'm using now, or the license that comes with the laptop be sold?

The license now is one I got through the student discount system. I'm thinking I cant sell the one that comes with the laptop as its probably OEM and must stay with the machine.

You can sell it if you give the physical code to the person and never use it again.

Question: Software Sell

Recently I have developed an educational software in VB.Now I want to distribute it. Please tell me how can I approach the user and distribute my project to them.

Answer:Software Sell

I have a bad feeling you're going a proprietary software route here with this, since you're using VB.  However, I recommend that you find a way to package the box nicely, and become a seller on Amazon.com.If you want to make it open source,  but make it LGPL so people don't mess with it as easy, you can publish it a lot of places, including SourceForge, Launchpad, BerilOS, or other places that I can't name right off hand.Hope all this helps.

Answer:Preparing to Sell my S10-3t

You don't. The only way to ensure your data is completely gone is to wipe and write over every part of the drive, using commercial erasing software does pretty much that. Or you could remove the drive and fit a new blank one. Or you could not worry too much about it and just sell the thing

After some considerable research I have decided on a T61P - to be specific, this one:Model Name: 8889ALGPart Number: UI0ALUKIt is the one with the core 2 duo T9500 chip, 14.1" screen, etc.Does anyone know where I can get one of these in the UK?  I've tried many online retailers and either they do not have it listed or, when they do, it is "out of stock".  Does this machine really exist?Thankss

Answer:No one will sell me a T61P

Shame about the build inconcistency.Hemini offered me a refund, nice of them. In my opinion, Lenovo went over the top with their "cost-cutting".Hope your experience will be better.Cheers,Alex.

I just bought a new laptop and was forced to buy a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Well actually it came with it and I stalled for months hating the fact I was actually thinking of sending m$ a single penny.

Anyhow, I got over it and ordered the laptop. Now I have a copy of Win 7 that was never booted once as I had my Linux install DVD in the drive on the very first boot!

I'm not looking to make a huge sell here and would have paid Acer the exact same price for the laptop if they would have just left the HD blank! Even if I sell it really cheap I can say I didn't buy it someone else did!

So, can my Win 7 serial be of any use to somebody else or it is somehow labeled as an OEM and not installable as a generic?

Thanks.

Answer:Can I sell an OEM copy of Win 7?

It's tied to the hardware once it gets installed and the COA is attached to it.

I bought a new desktop AND a new laptop (yeah it will probably be my last desktop). My old desktop is a 2005 Dell Dimension 8400, it has a 300 gb hard drive in it that I replaced a couple of years ago. The laptop is a 2006 Dell XPS, a 14", I've never done a thing to it, it works but it is relatively heavy and both were simply outdated enough that I wanted to replace them.

Is it worth spending the time to wipe the drive on the PC, and re-install XP (along with the hours of updates), and then try to get a few bucks for it?

On the laptop, it didn't come with an XP disk, so I don't know what I should do with that.

Just wipe them and sell them as is? Just wondering what you would do.: I just want to get them out of my house, but they are still functional so I hate to just junk them.

Oh, and if I wipe them, what is the recommended tool to do that?

Hi all

Anyone else notice that besides the big stores, none of the small local mom-and-pop pc stores sell retail packages of Vista? I am trying to find a copy of Vista 64bit Home Premium, but it looks like shopping locally I am limited to OEM which I am not sure I want.

Answer:why does everyone only sell OEM vista?

Some stores carry upgrade versions of Vista and full versions. Have you checked office (OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples, etc) stores? The cost of full versions are ridiculously expensive. If you really want a full install retail version you'll be better off purchasing it online.

There is no retail boxed version of Vista Home Premium x64. You would have to buy a retail 32-bit version, then buy a $10 x64 disc from MS and use the key that came with the 32-bit version. Only the retail Ultimate includes a 64-bit disc in the box.

Hello, I bought a new t400s off of ebay. It works perfectly and everything. It has a 80GB intel G1 SSD, 3GB ram, and the 2.4 ghz core 2 duo. The performance is awesome, especially the SSD. However, I don't know if I like the typing experience, as I primarily use the machine for writing. I originally had a Sony VGN 13.3 inch laptop. The dimensions were smaller, as well as the screen, but the weight was actually about the same, if not heavier than the t400s. I like the t400s keyboard; however, I just find it's thin, elongated plasticy palm rest a but annoying. The keyboard, albeit nice an clicky for a laptop, has a deeper throw than my old Sony. I find it kind of annoying when typing because it feels as if I have to reach further for the keys. The Sony had a shorter palm rest, which made it easier to type on. Initially, I bought the t400s because it is almost equivalent to the t400/t410 in power, but it's slim design and weight would bring it closer to the old Sony. The new 14 inch screen, and lightweight design full if power pushed me to buy the t400s over the t400/t410 and any other 13.3 inch model, which wouldn't have quite the processing power. So, my question is, would the t410, which has the same keyboard feel easier to type on because of the added thickness. On the t400s, it feels as if my fingers fall through and hit the desk/surface the laptop is sitting on. Strangely, I find typing on my lap more comfortable than any surface. Obviously, the t410 would h... Read more

Answer:Should I sell my T400s

I guess another way of descring the t400s experience is that it is so thin... that it feels low to the desk/surface. This makes the reach I funky because the laptop is flat and thin., yet somewhat wide.

So,
I was feeling pretty let down by AMD with the vega release so I've decided not to do a full system upgrade til Zen 2 comes out. I can decide what I want to do from there.
My 4790k, 16gb ram, and Fury Nano are just fine for now.
SO, I picked up a 1tb MSATA and am about to do a fresh install.

I'm really wanting to throw windows 7 ultimate back on.
But windows 10 is pretty much gonna be it for the foreseeable future so maybe I should take that path..
IF I install 10 it'll either be Pro or Enterprise.
I have considered LTSB since there is a nice Lite version on TPB with a lot of stuff not just turned off, but removed...
I've used that guys Lite version of 7 and really liked it.

I just don't like 10.. lol. SO Can I be sold on it?

Answer:Can I sell my vista and W7 OS?

Sice these are retail copies, the license is transferable. So there should be no issue selling them. Try including the complete package (disks, box etc.).

Only thing is the purchaser may need to activate by phone. Thats because retail licenses get identified with the hardware they are initially installed on, but phone activation is not a very painful procedure.

As long as it was not an OEM version and you have removed it from the original installation then you can install it on another PC. If there is an issue with Activation then a call to Microsoft will sort it out.

When I bought my PC I got tons of software preinstalled but I also got the discs as well. such as Microsoft Works 2000,photosuite III, various games, DVD software etc etc.Now I never use this discs so thought about selling them but would I be doing anything illegal. And would they work on another computer or are they specifically designed to run on my PC.TIA

Answer:Can I sell on Software That Came With My PC

so long as you remove them from your hard drive first , you wont be doing anything illegal.

But I just want to be sure that selling it unformatted would be safe.
For instance, I am planning on making a new admin account on the computer, and from there I am going to delete the CURRENT admin account which I'm using now, by going to control panel > users/accounts > (admin account name) > Delete (would you like to keep account files? Answer: No).

And the buyer who will recieve the laptop will have access to the newly created account, and there will be no other account on the computer besides maybe the guest account (and another wierd Admin account that is somehow above all and I never used before) and I would have deleted this account via the control panel....am I safe after having done this? Meaning can the buyer still somehow recover private information (saved passwords, files, etc.) after I've deleted my account?

Thanks.

Reason I'm asking is, this computer already has the Dell drivers and downloads installed to make it as good as it is...and if I format with a Windows Vista CD, everything will be lost and I have to re-download drivers etc. It just makes the computer more valuable when selling.

Answer:I Want To Sell My Laptop...

Why not just install the OS and not make an account? What I mean is, install it, then do not go through the account creation/setup steps and don't use the laptop until you sell it.

Thats what I did when I gave my older desktop to my Mom's boyfriend. Then he just made an account for himself.

I want to sell refurbished PCs with Windows Pre-Installed but not provide the Disk/Licence, would this be ok or is there something that i have missed somewhere, Ive tried the library, microsoft website and even e-mailed Microsoft but they wont reply. Please can anyone help, maybe point me in the right direction - thanks in advance.

Answer:Can I sell legally ?

Then the computer you are selling will be useless as the person buying will have to buy a full copy of what ever OS they are running if they have a crash for what ever reason and have to reinstall the OS.

Answer:I want to sell my desktop

If you have a Windows XP CD boot off of that and choose to Delete the Partition, Create a new Partition, Format the Partition NTFS, and Install Windows. Go to the computer manufacturers support/download drivers site and download any missing drivers for the computer.

Answer:how much could i sell my computer for

You would review your local paper computer section for sale as well as craigslist computers for sale to find what you should charge for your area.Internet forums like this one are international and would not be of any help since you are selling this locally.Your specs look fine though you should mention hard drive and memory sizes also as well as sound, and accessories.

Hello everyone

I am planning on selling computers, however I am having a bit of trouble understanding the rules/laws of microsoft.

Our company sell's computers blank, however now we want to sell our pc's with vista pre-installed. Is it legal for us to install only the 30 day trial version or does the pc have to be sealed?

I have read a bit about the OPK for office and the medialess license, can the same also be done with vista.

I ahve heard you have to obtain a master OEM kit?

Any information or feedback would be grateful

Thanks for reading this post
Regards
Richie

Answer:Vista, can i sell it?

The information you need is contained on the documentation that comes with the download and with the discs.
You should also review the business license requirements of the governmental entity that issues them. You cannot legally do any of it in excess of a certain dollar amount without a business license.

Answer:I Want To Sell My Laptop...

Hi,

If you were to do this then go through the disk CAREFULLY, you could be pretty sure there were none of your files were just sitting on the disk. However, if your data was sensitive, then it is pretty unsecure. Deleted data is not overwritten until it is needed to be, meaning your deleted data is still on the disk, almost perfectly intact. There are many free programs including Recuva that can easily recover this data. Any old identity thief can use Recuva. However, if you format your hard disk with one pass, then Recuva struggles.

HOWEVER: There are geniuses that can recover data from a hard disk that has been securely wiped (7 format passes) and geniuses that can recover data from a hard disk that has been physically snapped in two. These people are very very rare, but they do exist.

There is no totally secure way to format a disk, but for average stuff then 7 passes is enough (so few people can recover data after 7 passes) The only truly secure way is to replace the hard disk with a new one, and keep the old one yourself, or to remove the disk and burn it (so that the disks inside the hard drive are melted into a smooth ball) and then replace it.

Sorry that this is not the answer you wanted to hear,

Richard

I'm using Windows 8.1 Single Language x64, I'm having some issues with it, I planned to downgrade to Windows 7,
Is there a way to uninstall the product key, and sell it to someone else?

Answer:Can I sell the product key if I used it once?

ok your best place to start with this is reading the Windows 8.1 EULA.

Windows 8 EULA

It does depend what version you have bought, for example if it was OEM:

OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows bought separately, are tied to the first computer they are installed on and can not be transferred to a different computer. To install Windows on a different computer you will need to buy another copy.

Assuming as you are wanting to downgrade back to windows 7 you are not running an OEM Version and a legitimate retail edition.

From the EULA of Windows 8 retail upgrade this Section should sum it up for you:

Can I transfer the software to another computer or user?
You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you. You may also transfer the software (together with the license) to a computer owned by someone else if a) you are the first licensed user of the software and b) the new user agrees to the terms of this agreement. To make that transfer, you must transfer the original media, the certificate of authenticity, the product key and the proof of purchase directly to that other person, without retaining any copies of the software. You may use the backup copy we allow you to make or the media that the software came on to transfer the software. Anytime you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer. You may not transfer the software to share licenses between co... Read more

Can anybody help with this annoying situation please . When I access Ebay and try to sell, it now refuses saying " You need to change compatibility mode . simply by clicking on icon on toolbar , but in win 8 I do not have this icon and cannot find anyway to change compatibility mode , Any ideas please.
Thanks
micky0121

Answer:no sell in ebay

Try this. On the Ebay page, press F12 and scroll down the menu that appears until you get to Emulation (it's the last option). You will see an entry User Agent String: which will show Default as its value. Click on the drop-down box, and you can pick other options, such as Internet Explorer 8 etc.

Question: Can I sell Office?

I recently discovered that my dad's job gives away Office 2010 for $9 as part of a Microsoft deal. We bought 2 Office 2007 when it came out, so we have 6 licenses. If we uninstall Office from those 4 computers (we had to buy 2 since we have 4 computers) and get our licenses back, can I sell my Office 2007? Or is it illegal to sell products that have keys in them? I live in the United States.

Answer:Can I sell Office?

Ask Microsoft.
