SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MS/MS Pro card-reader slot not showing up in windows explorer.

Question: SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MS/MS Pro card-reader slot not showing up in windows explorer.

I have a Lenovo IdeaCentre, purchased only four weeks ago. It product family is IdeaCentre k410, machine type 10089. Anyhow, the problem is: I inserted a microSD / microSDHC, both of which seem to fit into the slot fine, though neither registers under anywhere in windows explorer, neither in the root of C://, nor in any of the subdirectories, or on the main listing of mounted file systems. I used the Lenovo Driver Updater and re-installed the SD Card Reader driver, to no avail. Any help would greatly be appreciated. As well, the computer runs Windows 8, which has some features I'm unhappy with, and although this is not a windows forum and I don't mean to create a thread that deviates from lenovo-specific topics, I was wondering if there is anything in either the machine architecture or the software of Windows 8 that could hinder m in installing a dual-boot system so that I might have the option of running a variant of linux as a sub-operating system, as I did with windows XP.????? OK any help at all would be so greatly appreciated, thank in advance. I really want to be able to retrieve some writing files I have stored in that micro SDHC card. As another aside, does anyone know the max limit of RAM this computer can take and if it is DDR or some other type?

Preferred Solution: SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MS/MS Pro card-reader slot not showing up in windows explorer.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MS/MS Pro card-reader slot not showing up in windows explorer.

hi BrokenHalo,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1. When you inserted the SD card, do you hear a sound that a device is inserted and under Device Manger, do you see a Card Reader?

If not, try to:
a. boot intto the BIOS by pressing F1, load defaults by pressing F9 then press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
b. Reseat the front panel connectors (see page 23 of the hardware maintenance manual)

2. To install linux (i.e. Ubuntu), see if you can install Ubuntu via UEFI. If you're unable to do so or if you want to install other OS, try to:
a. Boot into the BIOS by pressing F2 and set the following settings below

UEFI Boot Mode = Legacy
Secure Boot = Disabled (if applicable)
CSM = Disabled / Legacy or Other OS (if applicable)
OS Optimized Default = Disabled or Legacy (if applicable)

b. When finished, press F10 to save and exit BIOS then try to install Ubuntu via Wubi or insert your Windows installation disc to install a different OS.

3. As per this pdf data sheet, the Lenovo K410 has a max RAM of 8GB PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 but Crucial reports that this unit can take up to 16GB PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 - check this site.

Hope this helps

The X220multimedia card reader in the x220 works on the PCI bus and can read SDXC cards. I have seen comments here that it reads the UHS-1 cards. Can it make full use of the read/write speeds of the latest cards, such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro? Also, does it matter whether NTSF or exFAT is used when the card is used as a backup device, not intended for use in a camera? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using SDHC/SDXC cards for backup?

I have a Satellite A500-1GH having Windows 7 64bit. I'm about to buy an SD card, and I was wondering if the SD card slot at the front of the laptop is compatible with SDHC cards and the latest SDXC cards. If so, do I need to download some software and/or drivers for these kind of SD cards to work?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satellite A500-1GH - Is SD slot compatible with SDHC and SDXC?

Hi,

SDHC is definitely compatible.

As for SDXC, I think there is a Win7 WindowsUpdate that supports SDXC.

Does the R600 support the sandisk "extreme 30 MB" or the SDXC card?

I ask because they seem to the only ones with 64Gb capacity. I need the maximum additional capacity possible

TIA/gary

Answer:SDHC extreme or SDXC card work in Portege R600

Hi

As far as I know the SD card reader supports the SD card up to 2GB, SDHC up to 16Gb and mini SD card (with adapter) up to 2GB.

I didn?t find any details about the usage of bigger SDHC cards and I think you will have to test it yourself?. But in my opinion there could be a problem using such cards!

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

I have a Lenovo G780 laptop, and have had it for over a year, until 2 weeks back, everything was working fine. I started to have problems with the headphone jack where sound only came out of right ear.  Stereo Speakers were working fine. I made sure to go into Sound> Playback devices to make sure the Conexant Smart Audio was working right and the sound to L and R were balanced. I reinstalled the drivers (or what I found) and still it did not help. Now, a few days ago, the headphone jack stopped working completely (speakers still work). I retored my laptop to an earlier restor point (a month back when everything was working fine) and still no effect. Today when I tried to use the built in SD card reader, that I had used many times before, the card  reader would not detect it. I tried other Cards and they did not work either. I tried re installing the realtek drivers and got no effect. In device manager, whenever i insert the card, the wind refreshes, but nothing shows up in My Computer.I take good car of not laptop and there is no visible damage to any part of the laptop. I suspect the board inside is somehow damaged because the jack and card reader are located within a few mm of eachother. I have not yet tried factory restore, but all restore points do not fix the issue.

I have a Twist S230u and just purchased a Transcend 64GB micro SDXC card (UHS-1 rated), which comes with an adapter to the SD interface that is compatible with the Twist's media card reader. Up to now, I have not tried to use any card larger than 32GB in the media card reader, and have never had a problem, whether using true SD cards or micro SD via adapters. But with the new card, I seem to be able to access only the first 32GB of memory. Once that limit is reached, files put on the card seem to go down the memory hole in a very strange way: As long as the card is active in the machine, files continue to transfer over to the card with no error indications.  But if you try to read them, they seem to open as empty (perhaps as filled with zeroes?). The file properties show correct information, and there is no data access error in trying to open one of of these files, but application programs complain of corrupted (wrong format) data. Now, if you eject the card and put it back in, the system complains of problems and asks if you want to scan and repair. Electing to do so yields the baffling response that the card was scanned and no errors were found! On top of this, the system still complains of card errors and asks if you want to scan and repair. This cycle will continue indefinitely.  But if you elect to skip the scan and use the card anyway, the directory seems readable, all the files seem accessible -- EXCEPT that files put on the card past 32GB have disa... Answer:Only 32GB accessible on micro SDXC card via Twist media card reader

More information: It appears that the file system on the card looks OK to DSKCHK, but the dirty bit is set. Trying to reset it with fsutil, I am told that the computer cannot write to the card. I have tried to do this two separate ways: 1) by having the card (in its SD adapter) in the Twist's built-in card reader, and 2) by putting the card (in its adapter) into a USB SDHC card reader. The card can be read perfectly in both situations, but can neither be written to (including dirty bit reset) nor formatted. Command-line tools show the filesystem as extFAT, so it seems as if Windows 8 understands the card format. I alerted Transcend tech support to this and they simply replied that the card in question was 64GB (which I told them!), and I needed to be sure that my computer hardware could give me full access to the entire 64GB range. Can anyone point me to a spec for the S230u that says definitively what the upper limit on card capacity is through the built-in media card slot?

I don't think the slot makes any difference - an SD slot will read an SD Card no matter what capacity the card is. At least that is how I see it, if I am wrong I am sure someone will soon come on and say so!

How can I find out if my SD card reader supports SDXC cards.
My laptop is a satellite A300 and the properties of the card reader say " SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controlle".

Am I able lto use SDXC cards with this device and if not am I able to upgrade the software to support SDXC cards?

Thanks for your help

Answer:Satellite A300 - Does card reader support SDXC cards?

Hi

I read in the forum about the card reader on Satellite A300 and I found very useful info.
The card reader supports following kind of cards:

- SD Card - 8MB-2GB
- SDHC Card - 4GB
- xD picture card - 16MB-2GB
- Memory Stick - 8MB-256MB
- Memory Stick Pro - 256MB-2GB
- MultiMediaCard - 8MB-1GB
- miniSD (with SD adapter) - 32MB-2GB

As you can see teh SDXC cards are not supported... in such case I recommend using an common external USB card reader which would support the SDXC cards

Portege R 500 does not read SDHC cards in the SD slot. Normal SD cards can be read without problems. Manual states, that SDHC cards can be read. in different forums it is stated, that SDHC cards up to 16 GB work without problems. I have already downloeded and installed the most recent version of SD utilities, unfortunately without success.

Answer:Portege R500: SDHC Card cannot be read in SD slot

Hi

I found out that you can use the 2GB SD cards and 8GB SDHC cards.

I don?t know why you are not able to use you SDHC card but I would recommend removing the SD slot from the device manager and after new reboot to reinstall the driver from the Toshiba European driver page.

But wait;
Did you use Windows XP?
If yes, did you install SP2 and this MS patch?

It didn't yesterday, but today it keeps opening a Windows Folder when I have it plugged into the SD Card Slot. I updated all drivers via DriverEasy yesterday but I do not see a driver that was updated for the SD Card. When I check Device Manager it shows the 2006 10.0.10586.0 driver.

Somehow though I put the SD Card in and every 30s-1m Windows Explorer opens up on the SDHC Card and shows what's on it.

Any ideas why? Or what controls it opening?

Answer:SDHC Card keeps opening Windows Explorer.

You probably have an AutoPlay option for removable drives set to "View Files". Changeable in Settings/Devices/AutoPlay.

Hi and welcome to SF!
Yes, Windows 7 recognizes these formats natively, but I recommend that it be with the SP1 installed. As to whether your card reader will be able to read them, I'd say no - taking into account the age of your Dell. But if you can tell the model of card reader, I could tell with more certainty. Use Speccy - Download in case of not knowing what type of card reader. I look forward for your reply.

Answer:Hp Envy 17 touchscreen SDHC Card reader do not read card in ...

@YoannFromParis, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  When dealing with the issues from doing an update to Windows 10 there are a few things that may work to fix the issue. First thing to try is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. The next step is to run the HP BIOS recovery to reload the BIOS to see if it will sync up with the operating system. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS And if this fails to fix the problem, if you did the update to Windows 10 you can do the stand alone installation to see if it fixes any conflict. Download Windows 10 The other option is to roll back to the previous operating system until new updates get released by Microsoft and then uploaded on the HP support page for your notebook. Please let me know how things go.  Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

Answer:T430s SDHC card reader not working

I'm experiencing a similar situation with my 1-year old T430s. The built-in card reader was working fine until recently when it stopped working.

Now the built-in SD card reader doesn't recognize SD cards that are recognized in external USB adapters.

Device Manager shows Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Controller when an SD card is inserted into the card reader but neither Windows Computer Management/Disk Management nor Windows Explorer show the drive. Device Manager indicates that the driver is up-to-date (v6.10.10.32 25May11.)

When I put the same SD cards into an external USB adapter they're recognized by Windows, assigned a drive letter and visible to Windows Explorer as well as other applications.

Do I have a defective card reader?

Can a Thinkpad T430s with option "Express Card Slot & 4 in 1 Card Reader & Smart Card Reader" selected at purchase boot from a SD or SDHC card? I had a MacBook Pro and would boot off an SDHC card that held Ubuntu 12.04. My w500's sd card reader doesn't seem to be recognizing SDHC cards at all. (As in: pop the card in, nothing happens. No change in Explorer, nothing.)  I've got the latest Ricoh drivers from the Lenovo website installed.  I'm running Windows 7. I've found a few posts online from people who've had trouble with SDHC cards, but no solutions yet.Unfortunately, I've only got an SDHC card available for testing currently.  (I know it works, as I've been using it in my camera.)

Hello mate, How big is your SDHC ? My T510 is working well until 16Gb never tested more.

I am running a Lenovo Y510 with XP. The SD card reader seems to work just fine for standard SD cards but when i insert my new SDHC (4 gig ) card it does nothing. Are their plans to update the Lenovo Card Reader Driver for XP to support this new SDHC format?

Hello and good afternoon, to u all. I have some queries on behalf of a friend of mine that uses the nokia E63 mobile fone.Firstly he didn't know what kind of memory card the fone accepts, so I checked online and confirmed that it uses the MicroSD memory card. Here:click hereOur main query is that i'm looking to get a unversal card reader for him from ebay that can read not only his Micro SD memory card, but ALSO other cards.....but we have no idea, if we'll still need to get an adaptor to insert the memory card into....or whether the card can just be inserted straight into the card reader....Here is 1 on ebay:click hereSo for example will this one work with a micro sd card and if YES.....do we still have to get the adaptor for it, or can it be inserted straight into the card reader pls????Many thanks

Answer:Nokia E63 and Micro SDHC card reader

Copied this from the specs Slot 2 - Trans Flash and Micro SDLooks like it will accept Micro SD but adapters cost practically nothing, in fact you should get one free when you buy a Micro SD card.

Hi!

Does anybody know if there is a maximum size of SDHC card for the card reader in the R500? I know that it supports SDHC but I am afraid there is a size limit? Will it take 8,16,or even 32GB SDHC cards?

I want to avoid purchasing a card that I can't use to its full extent as they are still quite expensive compared with normal smaller SD cards!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks so much,

I plan to purchase a CANON S5IS digital camera, and someone recommended that I use SDHC memory cards. I recently bought a Digital Concepts 21-in-1 Card Reader/Writer; however, I don't see the SDHC designation shown on the package. The only SD cards listed are: SD; SD-Ultra; SDC; and Mini SD. Will this reader read an SDHC card as well? Thank you.

I just inherited a Dell E6520 laptop that has had a fresh install of Win 7 Pro 64 bit put on it. All of the available updates through Microsoft Update have been done to date, and the drivers available for my service tag have been downloaded and installed from the Dell support site.

The only remaining problem I am having is with the on board SDHC card reader. I have a SanDisk 16GB SDHC card that the on board reader completely ignores. The reader works perfectly with a 4GB SDHC card. Both cards are formatted with a FAT32 file system.

The 16GB card works fine in an external USB reader, and it works fine in the on-board reader in my HP 6730B running Win 7 Pro 32 bit OS.

Any thoughts or ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

Answer:Dell E6520 SDHC reader can see 4GB card but not a 16GB

Dell has a memory card reader driver, listed with the various chipset drivers. Suggest you install the chipset drivers and the memory card reader and see if that helps.

However, some card readers on Dell's will not read high capacity memory cards, although this is new enough that it should.

Hi,Just received my brand new Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s 16GB SDHC card from Amazon.New card works fine in my cameras and also can be read fine from X121e IF I use an external USB SHDC card reader. However, when I plug the SDHC card into the built in reader then nothing happens - nothing detected, no additional drive letter etc. If I plug other 8GB or 16GB SDHC cards into the built in reader then they work fine. Have tried several. Have checked the new SDHC card with the h2testw utility and it reports fine. This new SDHC card was bought from Amazon direct - NOT a marketplace reseller etc... So, should be no question about its authenticity... Any ideas anyone please? I dont mind using the external USB reader but it is slower than the built in card reader when I test some of my existing SDHC cards...Plus it means pluggin another device in  - not ideal..

Well yeah, the problem is in the title. It's a 7764 with the standard SD/MMC reader. I had Vista Ultimate and tried to fix the issue for some time (changing drivers, installing MS hotfixes), but it didn't help, so I thought the last chance would be with Win 7.Now I have Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit and the issue stayed the same. After the card is inserted (in my case it's a SanDisk Extreme III 16GB class 6 SDHC, but I've read that other people with 16GB cards had the same problem), the system doesn't react in any way. Actually in Vista sometimes the Safely Remove Hardware icon appeared for a second just after inserting the card then disappeared, in Win 7 there's no reaction whatsoever). Tried to force the system to see the card, scan for hardware changes, refresh etc, no result. Any ideas? It's one of the best cards on the market, and definitely not some no-name, so why won't my X61 see it? It's supposed to be SDHC compatible (and reads my 8GB SDHC fine). Thanks!

Answer:SD card reader won't recognize 16GB SDHC cards (or bigger probably)

I had a similar problem with a card reader on a different laptop. I contacted TI (Texas Instruments - the card reader maker) and they indicated there was a limit on the card reader (actually the driver) and it would not read larger cards. The only way you will probably make it work is to get a driver update for the card reader that will read 16gig cards.

I've got a T500 (2082-5XU) currently running Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit) with 4GB of RAM. I have been using an 8GB SDHC card in the Ricoh SD card reader/slot as a ReadyBoost drive. I recently noticed that the SDHC card will randomly disappear from the list of devices with removable storage. In some cases when this happens if I physically eject the SDHC card out and plug it back in, the storage reappears. In many instances, I can remove and add the SDHC card repeatedly and it will never show up. I'm unable to make head or tail of what might be the cause. It doesn't seem to matter if I am coming up from a cold boot or returning from hibernation. I don't use standby mode. I've even gone so far as removing the device driver package and installing it again. As far as I can tell, the latest version for this is at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73713. This is what I currently have installed. I've installed it as myself and I've tried installing it with the local system administrator account without any change in behavior. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it possible that it's a hardware problem? I cannot remember if I encountered a similar issue under Vista Business (32-bit) on this same system. I tried a search but found that none of the results seemed to match this particular situation. Did you install a generic version of Windows? You need to install the AMD chipset driver first, so other PCI devices can install properly.

What is the size capacity of the SD Card?
Are you running XP? You may need to install Service Pack 3, or a Microsoft hotfix for SDHC support.

I have thinkpad w530 w windows 8.1 I am trying to capture video footage into my computer using a firewire card that of course plugs into the MEDIA CARD READER SLOT. I can't get the computer to recognize my camcorder- the camcorder connection does not show up in DEVICE MANAGER I am using HDVSPLIT to capture the video and also in hdvsplit there is a message, "camera not recognized" or something like that.  I am not sure if the media card reader is bad, or maybe the firewire card is bad or maybe it is the hdv split that is the problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Answer:How do I tell if my Media Card Reader/Express card slot is functioning correctly?

Hello,

Could it be the ExpressCard slot that the FireWire card plugs into?  I've never seen a FireWire card that plugs into the media card slot used for SD Cards.

FireWire cards can be a little tricky to get working sometimes, especially when interfacing with a camcorder.

Have you checked with the manufacturer to see if Windows 8.1 drivers are available for it?  Even if they are not, it may be possible to use Windows 7 or even Windows Vista drivers.

Once you have verified that the FireWire card is recognized, plug the camcorder in again, amd see if it gets recognized.  If it does not, check with its manufacturer for Windows 8.1 drivers, just like you did with the FireWire card.

At that point, the hardware should all be working with Windows 8.1.

Regards,

I got an 8gb micro sdHC card filled up using the adapter, with music, which plays fine.

Before I received this cheap us>microSD adapter I asked the seller if it read HC cards. They said no. It's just a cheap chinese adapter on ebay so there isn't much info on it at all. It's write up didn't say anything about HC capabilities.

Like I mentioned, I was able to use it to load up an 8gb sdHC card.

Does this mean that it will probably also work with a 32gb sdHC card? Is there a size limit that the 8gb card didn't exceed?

If yes, I'd like to buy more now because I don't think these will hold up to much use.

I found the same item elsewhere on ebay which mentions that it recognizes up to 32gb, which is what I needed.

So....I suppose there are quite a few adapters out there labelled only SD but will in fact read up to at least 32 SDHC cards.

I think going over 32gb cards might require additional capabilities.

I've just noticed that my T410 card reader has got no cover. I've had my laptop for a month now but do not remember whether it came with one. Wondering if others have a cover?

Answer:T410 card reader slot no cover?

Nope.  My T510 didn't come with one.  I've ordered a dummy SD card off ebay a few days ago to fill the slot when not in use.  I was very disappointed it didn't come with one--even my relatively-inexpensive ASUS netbook came with a dummy card in the slot.

ok, i was bored and got some homebrew for my ds, but i needed some files off my psp memory stick, and couldnt be bothered to charge it as its dead and i cant find the charger, so i thauhgt "ill try it in my laptop sd card slot reader" and after a some moments later, bang!! autorun pops up, with the memory stick icon on it, all the files are accessable aswell

now my question is, HOW DID THIS WORK!, i looked in the slot and the pins are much to big/spaces to fit all the pins on the card. everyone know theres a size difference between sd and memorystick. how did it work, i didnt think there were duel sd and memory stick readers, all the usb ones if seen have seperate slots. this is bugging me, as it shouldnt, that and i have to get it in just the right place to get it to work, it doesnt seem to fit snug in the slot.
any idea on how the hell this is working thanks

Hi, I just reveiced my Lenovo Thinkpad x240 20AL000AAU with SD card reader integrated. I inserted an SD card standard size and the card is read properly, I can access all the files and I can write on it. The problem is that I cannot extract the card from the SD card slot! If I right-click on SD card in My Computer and choose eject, it says that it is safe to remove the card. If I select "Safely remove Hardware and eject media" it tells me that it is safe to remove it...but the card is stuck inside! I read somewhere to press the card until I hear a click but I cannot hear any click. Also the card is unreachable inside the slot. I cannot grab it to pull it. I can only press it a little bit with the nail, it goes one milimiter inside but I don't hear any click. I have called the technical support and they were absolutely unable to help me. They did not even know how the system is supposed to work so they just suggest to send back the laptop to be repaired and have a technician retrieve my SD card from inside. The first day!! Can anybody with knowledge about how this system works let me know if I am missing something or if my SD card reader is faulty? Thank you.

Answer:x240 - SD Reader slot - Unable to extract card

I was able to "fix" the problem.I had to use a niddle to remove the SD card, then I checked that something metal-ish was hanging inside the SD card slot so i push it to follow its natural position and then I tried to insert the SD card again. This time I could hear the click and when pressing it the SD card jumps out properly.PS: In order to replace the SIM card I had to poke inside the SIM slot hole a small screw driver and the SIM slot pulled out.PROBLEM SOLVED

i have a amd 690v and ive jusy put a new graphics card in but its not showing anything... iv'e tried to enable it through the bios but no joy

Answer:my pci slot isn't showing my graphics card

Make sure the graphics card is compatible with the slot type and specification.Make sure the existing PSU is powerful enough for that particular graphics card. If the card needs auxiliary power, make sure all power leads to it are connected. You can find all the info you need regarding the above on the motherboard and card manufacturers' websites.

Hello! I just bought a used, but nice, Lenovo L440. I thought all of these came with an ExpressCard slot, but to my disappointment it only has a smart card... I need it so I can connect to my eGPU setup. But this makes me wonder: BIOS states that ExpressCard is "enabled":  ...and Ubuntu reports that it uses power: So my question is: Why does my machine report having an ExpressCard, when it was delivered with a smart card? Is the smart card just a 54mm card put into an ExpressCard slot? If so, is it possible to remove it, and gain access to the ExpressCard slot? I appreciate any answers!

Answer:L440 reports having an expresscard slot, but has a smart card reader?

The SmartCard slot is the ExpressCard as you pointed out. On the specifications page the SmartCard is mentioned between brackets.

But as a workaround, make sure you have two SODIMMs in your L440 to get dual channel memory.

And then you might be able to use Intel XTU to overclock the graphics card. You can create custom profiles for various applications. Don't go crazy with the overclocking though. But you would still be limited by the 37W TDP.

I know the card is formatted as exfat, does windows 7 not support this?

my laptop uses windows 7 64bit.

Can anyone please advise as i am not sure how i am going to get any pictures in the future onto my laptop.

thanks

Answer:How do i use a 64gb sdxc card on my windows 7 64bit laptop?

If you format it in the computer, you will loose the pictures.

Doesn`t the camera have a usb cord to connect to the laptop ? Much the same way as my iphone ?

Question: SDHC adapter slot

My SDHC adapter slot isn't working, i hav tried changing adapter but nothing happens... plz help

Answer:SDHC adapter slot

Hi Plzdontmessup, and welcome to TSG.

You're not giving us much to work with. You need to give us more details, such as, but not limited to ...

Is this a SDHC slot part that came installed on the computer? If so, brand and full model number of the computer?

If this an external adapter that plugs into a USB port, the brand and model number of the adapter? Have you tried a different USB port?

Have you tried another SDHC card?

What operating system is running on the computer?

Exactly what happens when you connect the adapter to the computer? What happens when you plug in an SDHC card?

Does the Windows Hardware Manager show any USB or storage problems?

So I have a brand new w520 with the 5-in-1 card reader.  The other day I inserted a HD card from my camera and it didn't show up in the list under My Computer.  I ejected it and pushed it back in, then it showed up.  Today, no matter how many times I eject it and try again, it won't show up. Is there a hardware setting I should look at?  I cannot even find this thing in the Device Manager.  Any ideas to get it going? Thanks.

Answer:Card reader not showing up.

Insert the card, hit Start, type in Create and format hard disk partitions. See if the SD card appears in there but isn't assigned a drive letter.

A make and model of this card reader would be helpful. I can tell you that all card readers are not created equal. I finally broke down and popped for a Lexar pro model and it rules !

I thought it would be a wonderful idea to install a SSD in my M92P SFF. Seems I can't do that unless I ditch my installed hard drive as there is no second drive slot. So now I'm left with the option of installing an mSATA drive. The manual says I need a "storage converter" with a mini PCI Express slot..  Where, oh where, do I get one of these 'cause it certainly did not come installed on my machine?  Anybody have experience installing one of these puppies? Thanks in advance.

I experienced issues on a SanDisk Extreme Pro card 128 Gb.  Up til 64 Gb I had no issues with SD cards... on 128 Gb, Windows 8.1 there were lots of issues (windows blocking, cannot write files, etc)My old T440s on Windows 7 worked fine with this card so I suspected a driver issue... Uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo driver did not gave a good outcome. After long search I found the latest driver could be downloaded from the following URL:http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=15&PFid=25&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT... Uninstall the driver (make sure, it's removed from the laptop)Install the new 8.1 driver from the link above and ... that's it! Lenovo might maybe consider about updating the SDXC driver on their website's download-section soon...

I wanted to add an SDHC card but was unsure how fast the slot is in this notebook. Could it make full use of a 60MB/s card or is the reader going to be the bottleneck?

Answer:NB550D - How fast is the SDHC slot?

Hi buddy,

I never heard that card slot speed is limited. Usually it?s depending on the SD or SDHC card.

Where did you saw a SDHC card with 60 MB/s? Fastest SDHC card is known to me is SanDisk Extreme 30MB/s and they are really fast. I only use this brand of SDHC cards and never had any problems with performance or something else. They are fast enough for recording FullHD movies for example :)

I have a 7 in 1 media card reader connected to the laptop through a USB port. The problem is that it shows up in my computer as 2 drives even though there is no memory card inserted. Also if I insert the card I can't access either of the drives anyway. I have upgraded to Windows 7 - I was on windows XP and it worked fine showing up as only 1 drive in My Computer. As far as I know its nothing to do with the hiding of unused drives etc. Also I have checked the drivers and Windows states that they are up to date. Has anyone any idea what I need to do to fix this as its got the better f me over the last few days - hopefully I have enough information given for someone to understand the problem. Thanks.

Answer:Media Card Reader - showing as 2 drives

It sounds like the 7-in-1 card reader may not be compatible with Windows 7 or that driver updates are needed.

Check Windows 7 Compatibility Center - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...s/default.aspx

Check Device Manager for red/ yellow flags -
START | type devmgmt.msc

Is there an entry in Device Manager for "memory technology driver" or similar?
How does the 7-in-1 device show up in D/Manager?
What is the driver name and timestamp?

Have you tried the 7-in-1 in another Windows 7 system?

Please provide model number of 7-in-1 device.

Regards. . .

I have a Stratitec USB card reader that I am trying to use to read a 64 GB SD Card. It shows up in Device Manager as USB Mass Storage Device, with no ! or ? by the icon, but doesn't show up anywhere in Disk Management. I only see C: drive and System Reserved in Disk Management. I also do not see anything in Computer Devices. Also, whenever I plug it in for the first time it tries to install drivers but always fails after a bit, saying the Device is unplugged, when it is not. It says the drivers are up to date in Device Manager.

Answer:Card Reader not Showing up in Disk Manager

Hello Emmet mate just plugging that device in should not as far as I know need drivers

Have you plugged it in with say an SD card in it?? it should provoke a driver response.

Have you tried DISKPART too to see if it is being "seen"
Follow this Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command until you get to list disk that is where the device should show up.

Hi, can anyone help with this please? The card reader slots built into my PC are not appearing in Windows Explorer. I used the card slot about a week ago and it was fine. I've tried re-booting to no avail. Not sure what to try next, I've read through some previous posts about seemingly related issues but haven't been able to find a solution there either. I've had a look at Device Manager and can't see them on there either.

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, I'm now seeing the 4 card reader drives built into my computer appearing on some of the different desktop folders.

They don't appear on C:\Users\username\Desktop, nor do they show up on the physical desktop screen itself, which also doesn't show the Recycle Bin, Control Panel, etc (ie, it works the same way I had set it up before on 8.1) but they do appear on my taskbar desktop, on the navigation pane, and so forth.

How do I hide these without disabling the drives?

Answer:Card Reader Drives Showing in Desktop

Tell the system to not show empty drive letters...you have to set folder options to not show hidden folders/drives as well.
