Question: Want to order a recover disk for 3000 j200 9690 84u but its intimidating the support site.

Trying to find my way around Lenovo Support but I cannot find where to order a recovery dvd for my unit. Can anyone guide me in the right direction. And is there a fee if I am under warranty to obtain this software?

Preferred Solution: Want to order a recover disk for 3000 j200 9690 84u but its intimidating the support site.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Want to order a recover disk for 3000 j200 9690 84u but its intimidating the support site.

Hi, When I ordered on Dec. 2007 the Recovery Disk for my Lenovo 3000 J115 desktop had to call 1-800-426-7378. Don?t remember the prompts, but found a rep that transferred me to what appeared to be the right department. May want to make sure you specify that it is for a Desktop or you?ll get bounced around to other departments, like I did. I gave the 1st rep all my info including model #, name, address, serial code, etc?, to place order, then at the end he asked if it was laptop and I said no and he had to transfer me to the desktop department & I had to start all over with the order. Would like to have been able to order it online, but that option did not appear to be available. It was out of warranty when I purchased it so it cost around $60 with shipping. Now on a related note, my chance to vent about the 1st time I tried to order the recovery disk. 1st a little background info. Purchased my Lenovo 3000 J115 Nov. 2006. It was installed with Windows XP and had a voucher to purchase Vista upgrade, when Vista was released, which I did. Vista arrived around Feb. 2007, & I promptly installed it. So far so good. March 2007 purchased music equipment specifically Digidesign hardware with Pro Tools software to use with my new Lenovo computer. I know comp. may not be built for that, but I?m just getting into music software editing. Unfortunately Pro Tools software was not compatible with Vista, no problem I thought, I?ll just Call Lenovo & order recovery disk with the original operating system which was Windows XP. Here?s where the fun begins (sarcasm). March 2007 I call Lenovo to order recovery disk. I called a 1-800 # I found online, at that time there was no clear way to find the # to order disk & it?s a different number than the one I?ve provided at the top. I was transferred multiple times having to explain to each rep that I wanted to order a recovery disk, only to be told I have the wrong department & get transferred to yet another dept. Finally was transferred to a rep who appeared to be able to help me. I explained to him I wanted to buy recovery disk to DOWNGRADE back to my original pre-installed operating system Windows XP because I have purchased software that is not compatible with Vista. At first rep said he would be glad to help me with that, and then asked to put me on hold to check with his Supervisor. Well when he came back he told me I could not order recovery disk to downgrade, because downgrading was discouraged or not allowed. So I said OK no problem then I don?t want to downgrade, I just want to purchase recovery disk. He asked me why & I told him to reinstall operating system to original specs. He told me no, that I cannot purchase recovery disk. I told him once more that I would like to simply purchase the recovery disk and he said no then proceeded hang up on me. Well I guess I used the magic words DOWNGRADE, when Vista was first released and many people were requesting downgrades because many software co?s. had not yet converted to Vista or were experiencing problems with it. Needless to say I was discouraged with Lenovo Customer Care and didn?t want to experience that anguish again that I just continued to use Vista and was not able to use my music equipment with my Lenovo comp. I ended up ordering the recovery disk Dec. 2007, this time without the hassle. I?ve decided to purchase an Apple Mac for the music equip. and only use the Lenovo 3000 J115 for basic computing such as web surfing, emailing & word processing. Sorry for the long post & thanks for reminding me about the recovery disk, I had to share this bad experience with others who may have experienced similar issues. I consider myself an ideal customer, I rarely contact customer service, most problems I try to research & figure out or find answers to on forums, but I was very disappointed with Lenovo Customer Care after the experience of trying to simply purchase a recovery disk. I?ve worked customer service in the past and understand it?s a horrible job, & many customers? make outrages requests, so I try to make it easy on reps. by 1st doing a little research & then asking realistic questions, but some reps are just plain idiots who don?t try to help customers, they only try to get you off the phone. Good luck purchasing your recovery disk!Mak

After i rather troublesome 'downgrade' to Win XP, I want to install a new graphics card.Never mind the reason for it, but I need to use the Matrox Millennium P650 pci express card. When I install the hw and restart, the screen goes black. I guess this has to do with auto deactivation of the onboard graphics, but I cannot find anywhere to deactivate this 'auto deactivation' function. I cannot install the matrox drivers before the hw, as the driver installation detects that no matrox product is installed.  Anyone with a hint that might help?

I have a full version copy of Windows XP SP2B on order from Newegg, and I was wondering what everyones experience with This OS on this particular unit is. Ive downloaded all the drivers for this system including the prerequsite file for High Definition Audio, so I should be all set to go then right? The reason why I am doing this is for speed and performance reasons. Vista is very sluggish even after Service Pack 1 installation and XP always made things right.Message Edited by jasonhockeyguy on 04-27-2008 01:55 PM

Ok so I have downgraded my Lenovo 3000 J200 9690-5AU from painfully slow Vista (thank god) to XP. Problem? In Device Manager, the Realtek Ethernet and 56k modem (no name specified) do not work and have no driver assigned to them, even though I have downloaded the drivers a few times. In Device Manager, the same is for the SM bus controller (no driver i can find) and a PCI Simple Commutications controller (wth, and same as SM bus). Internet and audio dont work. Any ideas? I don't want to abandon XP...    Vista workedUbuntu Linux worked (9.04)XP...Doesn't? Everything else works fine...

I have a 3000 J200 9691-46G desktop that came with Windows Vista Basic. I down graded it to Windows XP, and then upgraded it to Windows 7 ultimate. Another thing that I upgraded was the graphic card. I installed a GeForce 9400 GT, 1GB. I cannot play a lot of games that require the basic system requirements, like Starcraft, Civilization and Monkey Island. Anyways, the problem is that my graphic card drivers crash when I am performing too much graphicky stuff and then it restarts its self. The good thing is that it restarts the graphic card drivers and not the whole computer...although a few times it crashed the whole computer and I saw the "blue screen of death". I was just wondering if someone could help me fix or at least recommend me something for the problem. Thank you all in advance. Alejandro, Alejandro, Ale Ale Alejandro, Ale Ale Alejandrooooo Thats actually my name.

Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

Answer:Dell site says XPS 15 gets delivered in 1-3 days, the order date for my order is 2 weeks from now...

Generally when that happens there has been a burst of orders, or there is a part on back order and the sales site hasn't been updated yet.  The delivery times are just estimates and could be sooner or later depending on various conditions.

Didn't know how to title this issue...basically, here's the deal: I have a school web site, on [email protected], which has a maximum of 10mb on the site. This is a constant battle trying to keep it under the 10 mgs, with all the photos and whatnot I like to put up there. I was thinking that I still have another three or four sites on my account; why don't I set up one site which is just the images, and link it to the other site. Wouldn't it be transparent? I mean, if I set up a hyperlink on the main site, wouldn't visitors just cruise back and forth at will without any hassle? And that way, I'd have much more space for images.

Please advise...it seems too easy...am I missing something?

Thanks!

p.s. I use front page 2002 from office xp suite (professional )

Answer:thinking of setting up web site just for images to support another site

I don't think you're missing anything. This is common practice. Most of the images on this page came from another site. Ads almost always do. There's nothing that says that the image links in your html can't load images from elsewhere. The ability to bring many disparate objects from various sources together on one web page is the reason html was designed the way it was.

Sounds like you have a good solution to your problem.

Hi all,

I just got my L500-1XL laptop about a week ago. When I got it I was annoyed by HALF my hard drive being absorbed by the recovery partition,
and thought that the recovery CD would do the same job. So I formatted and reinstalled. Only problem...I noticed my laptop being a little slower
and it rated poorer in the windows ratings (excellent laptop on 32bit=athlete having to run around a garden for excercise). THEN I noticed
the recovery CD is only 32bit...I unknowlingly downgraded 64 to 32 bit Win7...

OK so I understand advantages of 64 bit include:

1. Future of computing, takes advantage of more powerful computer parts
2. More resilient to viruses since much of malicious software is made for 32bit
3. Twice the computer calculations allowing better performance

How do I get 64 bit back? Can I order a 64 DVD? Also, unless I'm mistaken, I think if I were to format using the Tosh DVD I could actually specify the size
of the recovery partition? Because I tried using disk management and 3rd party software to resize and it just wouldn't....Tosh lock?? I HATE having to find
and reinstall ALL the drivers...there is loads, one or two is fine but ... and we're generally taught to leave MS update as last resort so I'd love the benefit of
using a Tosh DVD.

Many thanks for any ideas, comments, help.

Answer:Order Recovery CD or recover original settings?

I presume your notebook was delivered with Win7 64bit HDD recovery image and Win7 32bit recovery DVD, right?
If you want to have 64bit version again try to order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Sorry but I don't understand why you didn't create recovery DVD as recommended by Toshiba.

Hiya,

My son got some kinda Trojan, it wouldnt let us go into safe mode or restore. The only thing we could do was to completely wipe it all & use the disks to reinstall it again. Simple normally... but this time it wont run anything other than XP now, I have tried 5 times to reinstall from the back up disks to get back to Vista and it just freezes, the furthest I managed to get was installing the updates but it froze yet again at 25% on the Net framework update part.

Its running on XP at normal speed now but if I was to try put Vista back on via the back up disks it takes about 5 minutes for it to perform an action, slow aint the word.

I just want it back to Vista and completely lost now, why wont it let it run Vista?

Anybody any idea's?

Hi there
Is it possible in IE8 / IE9 to make the History page show sites in LAST VISITED order. I.e the site you just visited is AT THE TOP of say todays date.

The default alphabetical method IMO is totally useless if you've visited a lot of sites and you want to go back to one you've forgotten the name of but you remember it was probably for example in the last 5 or 6 sites visited.

I can get the info from a server log but I should be able to get it directly in the history page in the browser.

Answer:Can i order Y400 from the US site and free ship it to India?

hi vijay_lingesh,

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

If you're planning to order the Ideapad Y400 online via http://shop.lenovo.com, as per the Lenovo's Shopping FAQ's:

"Lenovo is unable to ship orders internationally from the US due to export restrictions and policies. However, orders can be made from the Lenovo.com site for your destination country."

You may also want to consider the warranty as not all lenovo systems have international warranty coverage in the India - see the Ideapad Limited International Warranty Service.

I read somewhere that the C directory disk should ideally be Disk 0 - as you will see, my three internal disks do not follow this pattern.

Do I need to swap the signal leads at the motherboard end to correct this - or does it not really matter. I confess I do like to see detail where the main drive is listed first
Will this work, or it it not to be advised or have adverse consequences.
Thanks in advance for your comments

Answer:Disk order shown in disk Management

It doesn't really matter. It's up to your personal preference. If you do switch your hard drive cables, you might also have to go into BIOS setup and change the boot order to point to the first SATA port if it doesn't do it automatically.

After a little consideration, my loose space key is not bothering me that much. But my "e" key has started to squeek. It is getting so bad that when i use the X220 to take notes during meetings, people smirks and silently laughs. It's getting kind of annoying. So!I've been browsing through the forums and the lenovo.com page but still can't figure this out:Is there a way I can actually talk/write with a real live human being and explain my situation? I want them to send me a keyboard as I'm pretty sure I can replace it myself, the manual and videos are great. My other option is to use a local company for the job, and that means I'll be without a computer for a week or so, and I'd really like to avoid that.  Thanks!

Bought a Lenovo 3000 c100 all-in-one for my brother-in-law for Christmas. He apparently put a disk in the drive without securing it on the spindle (just setting it in the bottom indentation), and closed the drive. Now the drive won't open.  Is there an alternative way to open it?

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

Hello!
So I just ordered a Dell XPS 15 and got the confirmation email and everything. When I try to click on see order status a blank page shows up, when I try to search by the Internet Receipt Number, nothing is found. I tried calling Dell Norway several times, but a automatic voice machine say I should go to the website for answers or chat with Dell. When I open a chat no one there is willing to help me and are giving me a email to a 3rd party shop that sells Dell computers, but they can't help me because I didn't place a order with them.
I'm getting so frustrated with this I'm considering canceling my order!!

Answer:Dell customer support can't find my order and no one is helping me!!

Hi ALEXANDERAHLSEN,
Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.
Please private message us the Internet Receipt Number along with your email id and we will check on the status of this order.

Just called the IBM/Lenovo parts department and tried to order a replacement heatsink for my T60 (the fan in mine is getting pretty noisy). I opened up the machine and compared it with the pictures in the HMM and the FRU is 41W0467. I tried looking this up on their parts website (not found) and then called 877-719-0841 and they just told me the part number is invalid. The parts line person told me to call tech support and gave me their number. I called and gave them the machine serial number and they told me they couldn't help me because the machine was out of warranty. They refused to even check if the FRU was valid, much less help me find an alternative p/n "because the machine is out of warranty". He kept saying it was a company policy that they would provide no information for an out-of-warranty machine. I asked if he worked for Lenovo or IBM and he said both. I asked to talk to the guy's manager and he said there was no manager for out of warranty machines and then he hung up on me. Amazing. I'm actually glad I called so I could see just how bad things have gotten. I was starting to think about a W520, but now once my T60 finally dies I'm done with Lenovo for good.

Obviously not a pleasant experience.

If you could post the Type and Model Number of your system members will be able to check the part number you need. I personally suspect you may have a typo there and might be looking for 41W6047, you'll need to scroll down a little.

So, I didn't know where else to go to ask this question, so I put it here.  If you know the answer in a different forum page, please let me know. The hard drive to my HP crashed and I recently purchased a new one.  I have gotten to the point where I am going to need to obtain a new OS for it. I made it to the HP website, to the "HP Support - Order software and driver media" page to purchase the software/driver that I need for it.  I would like to purchase it, but it seems that the website will not accept my Serial Number.  It's nothing complex; it simply won't let me type it in.  I am able to put in my information on the other bars (name, address, etc.), but won't for that line.  Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  I'm worried that it's going to tell me that there aren't any more left, which would be awful, and I'm hoping that it's just a webpage bug.  If anyone could help, that would be great.

Hello, I have an older 3000.  Recently the hard drive was having issues and I went into Rescue and Recovery.  It would go into RandR and keep rebooting.   After several hours there was no rescue or recovery.  So, I tried wiping the hard drive and tried reloading the system using the Rescue and Recovery disks that I have used before.  I have used them using the external DVD.  The LT passes self checks.  I do not have an internal DVD.  I have one that the LT recognizes using a USB connector.  I have verified through the BIOS that the system sees it.  I can select it to boot from using F12. When it tries to boot I get the message:  Operating System not found. I have tried everything I can think of.  I even tried flashing the BIOS and using the Master Boot record recovery program (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-62978) Nothing penetrates to the hard drive.  I have installed a new HD and still get the same error.  I am truly at a loss as to how this is happening.  Please Help! Ray

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N100 Will not recover - message Operating system not found

hi Ray,

If you have a preloaded Windows Vista 32bit, have you considered using a retail disc to install it? (Upon installation, it will automatically activate your copy of Windows via the SLP code in the BIOS. If this doesn't work, try the product key at the bottom of the unit and activate Windows by phone). You can get the iso from this link and follow this guide on how to create a bootable flashdrive.

Let me know how it goes

Hello Members!I have a Windows 8 OS backup on a Pen-drive & mine is a branded PC from HP~ AIO make.Is it possible to format the entire Hard-drive to reclaim the Space used by Recovery Image desk (D:)? Can someone please help guide me on how to format an entire Hard-drive (both C: & D:) in context to an HP Desktop environment?Help will be sincerely appreciated.Thank you.

Answer:Is it possible to recover the Hard-disk space utilised by Recovery Disk(D:)?

Yes. But not-recommended.The recovery partition  is the only way you have to repair your system in the event of a failure. The computer makers now want you to use that recover if ever a major failure makes your computer unusable. If you need more storage for your photos and videos, consider these methods:A. Use DVD discs to store photos and videos.B. Use a cloud service to save your most important information. C. Purchase in economic external hard drive for extra storage. It would be a b ad idea to format our hard drive unless there was something urgent.

Dear All, Firstly, apologies if this question has been asked before, I did search the forum but could not find what I needed. Please do point to a previous post if you are aware of an answer. My Lenovo 300 N200 (0769) has a lot of trouble connecting to my home network. Basically, whenever it comes out of suspend I have trouble getting it back onto the network. I have updated the drivers for the card and checked that Windows XP can not power  the card off to save power, but I still have trouble with it. So I was thinking about replacing my router with a Wireless N one. I wondered if any of the forum members were aware whether my Lenovo would support a Wireless N card and if so, could anyone recommend a card please ? Many thanks for taking the time to read my post. Regards,Johnny.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255. My cd-ROM has stopped working since I tried copying one of my children's games. I thought I would make a spare for my kids to both be able to play. I tried everything to get it to work again. I even called the company that made the game and told them what I did. They said it was not their software, that they have no copy right protection that would do that. Since then I have made a mess of my computer. I have restored it a million times in the system restore program. It is playing DVD's but no data cd's will play and it does not register any blank cd's. I went out and bought a Memorex external USB disk drive and recorder. I just want to recover my computer to factory settings using the recovery disks I have. The TEAC disk drive in the Toshiba wont read the recovery disks at all and the external drive reads the disk but when it reboots it looks for the disk in the internal and wont registers the USB drive automatically. I'm hoping their is a way to bypass the reboot and just start the recovery or any other solution. I even reassigned the drive letter and have since put it back to original.

Answer:My disk drive won't read my recover disk or any other data. HELP

Check and see if Toshiba has the restore info on a hidden partition and how to proceed using it...most laptop manuf. set them up this way.

I tried to order a DVD/ODD bezel as well as the rails w. screws which secure it when loaded into the bay. The tech support person with whom I spoke was rude and condescending beyond belief and just repeated the script "I hope your experience with Lenovo tech support exceeded your expectations; have a nice day" and hung up on me. If anyone has ordered these parts and can comfirm the FRU numbers, please post them here. If anyone from Lenovo lurks on these forums and does anything to actually help users rather than just deleting critical posts, the case number in question is A062FC7. I'd rather take helpful and polite in Manila than rude and nasty in Atlanta anyday.

So I just started exploring my new Lenovo 3000 Y500 laptop pre-loaded with Windows Vista. Answer:Does Lenovo 3000 V200 support 800MHZ DDR2 Sodimm??

If you have 965 chipset it will utilise SO-DIMM DDR2-667 ot higher SO-DIMM DDR2-RAM. It's speed will be lowered to 667 anyway.Max amount is 4 GB.If yourutilise 960GL chipset then maximum official amount is 2 GB, unofficially 3 GB works fine. 4 GB doesn't work.

Hi. Post title says it all. I have a three external monitor setup (I don't need anything on the internal display) but am only seeing display on two of them at the moment. Any help would be gratefully received. I'm happy to change to another T-series model or a mini dock or minidock plus or any splitters and adapters. I have available to me on the T420 a display port and a vga port.  I found the optimus configuration post confusing; my desired configuation isn't specifically mentioned. I have been variously told by experts that i can use a display port splitter, but that it must be externally-powered, or that it can be done with the intel graphics chip but that it needs some piece of free software, or that  I have considered replacing the T420 with one that has optimus-enabled nvidia graphics capability; I've tried a usb to VGA converter (low resolution and it blew up).  Thanks for reading.

Greetings,

I built my rig a couple of months ago. I was going to clean one of my HDDs (I have Vista installed on that drive now, Seven is the only OS I want on here now) and noticed this.

How do I get the Seven drive to be #1 and change the Vista drive to #2 and the external HDD to #3? Or do I need to worry about that?

Thanks all.

Answer:Disk #s Out of Order?

I believe you would have to physically change the cables around inside your case. The disk number is decided by the BIOS depending on what SATA connector its connected too. Your OS might not boot up if you change it though. Even if you change the boot order in BIOS to match the moved disk it still might fail. If the drive letter changes as a result it will break all your installed programs etc as the registry will still be pointing to the old drive letter. If you want to try it, try it in steps. If you don't have your data backed up I'd do that first.

EDIT: Looked at it again after I posted and saw that your programs are on a Partition on Disk (0). Unplugging the Vista drive may break things in windows 7 so most of what I posted below likely won't work. Your best option is probably to back up your Data to external media and start over with a clean install and the disks connected the way you want them to show up.

Unplug the Vista drive (Drive 0) and leave Drive 1 where it is. Then see if windows 7 still loads. If it still works then you can format or do what ever you want to the Vista drive without messing up your windows 7 install. Then connect the windows 7 Drive to SATA 0, change your BIOS boot order to match and see what happens. If it doesn't work you should be able to swap it back to the original setup and boot up OK. If it was me I'd just wait till my next clean install and move things around then.

This laptop was just purchased and one of the features is an external HDMI port.  Well the owners manual is completely silent on how to get this feature working.  A call to Lenovo support had them stumped since they can't find any documentation either.  Basically, hooking up the HDMI out port on the laptop to a large flat screen TV with the HDMI IN port via a standard 10ft HDMI cable gets a confirmation beep on the laptop indicating it sensed the external connection.  A window pops up indicating it doesn't support this resolution and no further clues on how to resolve.  Has anyone used the HDMI output with any luck?  Running Windows XP Pro.

Question: Lenovo J200

Hello, I have a strange question.  I bought this system in October for a Christmas present. I have had it stored in my other SUV until now.  Does being in the cold have any effect on the computer, I know it is a bit late to be asking this.  It is still in it's orginal packing, the temps have gotton into the 20's.  Thanks for any help.

Answer:Lenovo J200

Welcome to the Lenovo forums.Storing it outside (or in an SUV) at these temperatures is not a good idea. It will however most likely survive, as long as it stays in it's closed box. Once you bring it inside, put it first in a cool place (between 32 and 50 F) like an unheated basement. Let it sit there for a day or so to 'acclimatize'. Then bring it to a warmer environment (minimum 50F) and let it sit there again for a day before you open/use the system. The condensation inside that may have accumulated, needs to dissipate gently and slowly.

My u300s Ideapad got almost complertely trashed; I had Symantec whole disk encryptio nand  that was part of the problem.  Anyway I was able to remove WDE and install a stock Windows Home Premium, but this is not the original machine state. All the  posts on doing a restore indicate you need a pre-made OneKey recovery image, which I do nto have. I think to recover this machine properly I need to order recovery disks, but there's no clear way I can sewe how to do this.  Any info appreciated.

Don't know the price, but 1-877-4LENOVO is your best bet. They would be more than happy to tell you how much the discs would cost. Have your serial number and model number ready.Message Edited by lorneking on 09-05-2008 11:00 PM

Hi and welcome to seven forums

It may be more trouble than it is worth. Are these drives built into a tower?
Why do you want to change the order?

Thanks

Question: raid disk order

We had a crash on one of our machines where we lost some data. To recover I pulled out the 5 disks (4 virtual drives) and sent them away. Job done, data recovered.

Problem is that I didnt mark the disks before I pulled them out so dont know what order to put them back in. Is there a way to find out?

Machine is a Compaq ML140 with 5 slots top to bottom.

Is the "primary slot" the top or the bottom? As it's raid should I be able to boot with just 1 disk in?

Thanks guys....

Answer:raid disk order

Hi guy,

I recommend you Getway Raid Recovery Software, Choose the "Smart MOde",add your raid images or disks, press "Analyze" to get your raid disk orders, so easy! Case Study here:http://www.getwayrecovery.com/raidrecovery/raid5recovery.html

Hi, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for your post. If you post your full product model and product number (PN) I might be able to point to you a specific link/place to order the recovery media. Generally speaking, you can contact HP support (or local HP partner) to see if they can offer you original recovery media for this computer (a.k.a. recovery DVDs or USB). Info EU/EMEA >> http://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/bph07143Info US/CA/AMS >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143Info Asia/APAC >>  http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/bph07143 Here is how you can contact them :>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp>> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html  Option 2) If there is no recovery media at HP, you can try to contacthttp://www.best2serve.com/page/rcd_landing   (<EU)  or   (USA>)  http://www.computersurgeons.com/ to see if they can offer you such recovery media  Once you get the recovery media, here are instructions how to perform the recovery:>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6bGr3EgEI0   Please, let me know if this works and if something is not clear

I've been looking at laptops for the upcoming school year, and I really think I want to get a Y550. Newegg.com has a decently priced model with pretty good specs and a dedicated GPU, which I need because I'm specializing in Video Game Programming at my school. However, after searching for the model number on the support site, I find that this model is like the red-headed stepchild that Lenovo doesn't want to acknowledge. The model number is 41865BU, and you can find the product page here. I just want to know if there will eventually be a support page for this model, because if there's not or I don't hear anything it's going to be a deal-breaker. My last laptop was a Dell, but after the horrible experiences I've had with them I'm never buying any of their products ever again. I'd like to find a competent computer manufacturer for once!

Answer:The Y550 I want to buy is not on the support site

If you are looking for drivers, you can find them here. If not, can you please explain what kind of support you are seeking/searching for?
