In a shell with admin rights, enter:

bcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

OK, I have come across 3 methods to disable driver signing with the bcdedit program on various websites:
bcdedit.exe /set testsigning on/off
bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on/off
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

What are the differences between them and which one should I use? Oh, how do you re-enable driver signing for the DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS method, if I use it?

Answer:need help with enabling and disabling signed driver enforcement in vista 64

I'm using the last one and to re-enable it type: bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptions

Okay so rather upset, tried looking around online for away to disable the digitally signed driver stuff and found a couple of thins but nothing worked. F8 on startup only makes it for that one windows session. I found away to do it (Now enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS in order to disable Driver Signing and reboot.) Did not work. Trying to use rivatuner but it wants a driver and will not restart every time. Any ideas?

1_going to advanced troubleshooting option by holding shift while clicking restart or just going to settings>update and security>recover>advanced option and press restart
2_by doing some Cmd command to edit the "bcdedit.exe' file

i tried both of them and the results i get are all negative
none of them works for me.

I am having a heck of a time. I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit and the ASUS P5QC mobo I have came with an unsigned 64 bit Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller
driver.

I called ASUS tech support and talked to them and as of this time, they have only a beta version of the 64 bit signed driver. Vista is not accepting the driver and is considering it as unsigned, so I am left without a computer that can connect to the net.

I have searched hi and low all over the internet to see if I could buy a wired ethernet adapter which has a 64 bit signed driver, but all of the ethernet cards I have been able to find are only compatible with the 32 bit version of Vista or they only have unsigned drivers for their ethernet cards. This is really frustrating!

Does anyone know here WHO (what manufacturer, make, model) of a wired ethernet adapter card 10/100 or 10/1000/1000 (that does not cost a fortune - is retail version, not industrial or commercial)
I might be able to purchase that has the appropriate signed drivers - or

Does anyone here know HOW to disable the signed driver enforcement in Vista Home Premium 64 Bit with SP1? I understand it was possible to do it at one time, but since Microsoft HEXED us with two patches, that route has been disabled. So if there is a way to disable the mandatory signed driver requirement, I would like a step by step explanation of how to do it, in lieu of the need to purchase a new card (my ASIS mobo comes with an UNSIGN... Only been here an hour and already on to my second problem, lol.

So my only other problem is one little hardware adapter that has 64bit drivers... but they're not signed.

Is a "Syba" Serial to USB Adapter (SY-USB-S)...

basically I need to use it so that my battey backup can talk with Windows and give reports on power spikes etc... as well as control the shutdown of windows when I'm not around if there's a power outage.

Now, it's not a huge deal as the battery backup will still work of course, but the extra features won't work until Windows can communicate with it. Unfortunatly the backup only as a serial connection (and my motherboad doesn't) so I'm forced to use the "Serial (RS232) to USB" adapter.

So I'm wondering a few things.

1) can I force Vista x64 to use the unsigned driver from the company?

2) can I trick Vista x64 into thinking the driver is signed? (or someone mod the drive to that it is signed by me?)

3) Anyone know of a signed driver from another company that will work with this item? I assume a few companies use the same chip inside the device. All it does is make a bridge from USB to serial so it's a pretty simply device as well.

4) Anyone know of another Serial to USB adapter that has singed drivers that I could purchase to replace the current one?

Thanks again for any advice or help,
TK.

Am trying to install HP Deskjet 630c printer and it keeps telling me this driver is not digitally signed. I just put Windows xp on the computer. What does this mean and can I get help? I am not very computer literate and any help would greatly appreciated. Many thanks Paula.

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP.  This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver.  If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?
Ed

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

I have noticed that while following the dialogs during... Read more

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

ATKDispLowFilter.sys

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

Phil

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

Good evening,

When the computer boots up the new hardware wizard comes up asking for a driver for a realtek AC97 Audio device. I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you install a driver that has a Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) or Authenticode signature on the computer.
But in Device Manager, when you expand the corresponding device, right-click the driver, and then click Properties and then click the Driver Details button on the Driver tab, you may find that the driver file is displayed as unsigned! This issue occurs because of incorrect logic when the Authenticode flag in the catalog file of the driver is checked.
To fix this issue download and apply this hotfix from KB2619914.

Hi

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

MAIN Problem #1:

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can find a Microsoft Certified Display adapter/video card driver (are those the same thing?) for my :
ASUS AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX video card.

runnig win98/SE on a VIA chipset

The reason i ask is because when i look at my drivers through the DirectX diagnostic tool 's display tab it shows my driver as 'nvdisp.drv' and in the 'notes' sections adds :

" The file nvdisp.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device"

but when i look through the ASUS home page i can't find my video card. I know my driver is from NVIDIA and i've found the right page to update from them but i'm also wanting to update my chipset driver from VIA and they warn of compatibility problems with NVIDIA so i'm looking for a "signed" "certified" or "standard" adpater/driver?

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.
Regards,
William

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

is it necessary to sign driver in win xp 32 sp2.

when i google i got that it is necessary for win vista , win7 and other upper version.

Answer:windows require a digitally signed driver xp 32 sp2

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

Hello, I have Windows 10 (64 bit) and all the latest Windows + Lenovo updates. The SSD's are Samsung 850 EVO (system) and Samsung 840 EVO (data). Since a few weeks ago, I started seeing a pop-up message, whenever I boot the computer. It says that "A digitaly signed driver is required". Also, the Samsung Magician software reports, that AHCI Mode is deactivated and SATA Interface is N/A. Does that mean that my system is not running on full performance? And is there are solution for these issues? Thank you!

My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though

I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature.

When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'd appreciate any help.

Hello,
I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

I don't know much about digital signing of drivers. I've seen in a couple of threads that I might be able to sign the drivers myself, ... Read more

Obviously many more problems than just the mouse driver.

You can use earlier drivers (ie from vista, or even XP) if you install them in compatibility mode

The other system problems need a repair install.

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Device manager shows under Storage Controllers "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller," but there is a yellow triangle with "!" and a Device Status Code 52 message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." I checked in C:\Drivers\WIN\Multicard and found two *.cat files--which, I understand, are required to confirm digital signature. Each of them (ridisk.cat and risdxc.cat) has a signed and valid certificate! So what is going on? Will the card reader work? Is there something wrong with how Windows 7 is treating the Ricoh driver, which I downloaded from the Lenovo site? Why should I be getting this grief?

Answer:Ricoh card reader driver-not digitally signed?

Hello,

Perhaps the driver is damaged?

Try deleting the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller from the Device Manager and then restarting the computer in order to let the Device Manager re-detect it and re-install the device drivers.  Does that solve the problem?

Hi all, Following device:ThinkPad E531Graphics: Intel HD 4000System: Win7 Pro Following problem:1) Approx. 2 month ago a windows update caused a problem with the hdmi at my laptop. There was no connection to the TV possible anymore (I tried the TV, the cable and the hdmi device already).2) I installed a new driver (origin: Lenovo support page). Result: Windows messages that the driver is not digitally signed...Hence, the device "vga save" was set. What I've already tried, everything as admin:1) look for older drivers: Got only one and it didn't work2) Tried to install a driver directly from Intel: Didn't work3) Tried to disable the signing (GPEdit.msc -  code signature ...). Here I had the problem that I even have no line with the code signature to set the ignore property4) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) in the testmode. The waring message about unsigned drivers came5) Tried to create a certificate. Here the cmd said the command is not known.6) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) after setting the "TESTSIGNING" off (BCDEdit). The waring message about unsigned drivers came My question:Any ideas or similar experiences?I can not believe that the Lenovo or Intel drivers are not signed. But why Windows does not accept them?Is the available update to Win10 an option? Generally: Failure F40 (the failure is 40 cm in front of the monitor) is not excluded  Thank you very much in advance.Regards,Stefan

Hi,

This is my first post on these forums, so please excuse me if anything is wrong.

Details of the problem: I have a Sony VAIO laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I recently downloaded the same version from digital river that has SP1 included and installed it on my laptop. I installed the drivers that I had downloaded from sony's esupport site which went fine. After I rebooted and tried to install the rest of the drivers, I started getting the Code 52 error: Windows cannot verify the signature of this driver. I've seen that every driver can be installed immediately after the system has been booted the first time (after a clean install). Once rebooted, it starts giving the code 52 error. I can't install my iPhone drivers (through iTunes) or PS3 utilities because of this. I'm wondering what changes during the first reboot. I must also say that these very same drivers were used on the previous build of Win 7 HP that I was using except that it did not have SP1 integrated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I know that the digital signature check can be disabled using bcdedit.exe but I want Windows 7 to work the way it should: it should stop me from using unsigned drivers while installing signed drivers correctly. Does any one have any clue to what's going on with my Win7 on my laptop?

Answer:Driver Digital Signature error when using signed drivers (Code 52)

Hi ajayav, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Boot into Advanced Boot Options and disable driver signing checking.

The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Disabling driver signature enforcement has helped a lot of users in fixing the issue.

You may also delete the USB "Upper Filter" & "Lower Filter" Entry and check if that helps.

So I have IE7 on Vista. When I try to access the website http://webmail.freeshell.org I get an error "internet explorer cannot access the webpage". It should be saying that there's a problem with the certificate, and let you decide whether to go on. IE7 can open some other secure websites.I did a lot of surfing trying to figure it out. It seems like the problem is that this webpage has a self-signed certificate, and it's not signed using RSA algorithm, it uses SHA1.IE7 on Windows XP accesses the website fine. Apparently IE6 also works. I think this is the problem because I found the problem described online in 2 places, http://blogs.atlassian.com/developer/2007/...ta_and_ssl.htmland another atlassian.com website. I had tried a lot of suggestions I found online and none of them worked. I installed all the updates I've received from Microsoft. It's apparently a bug in IE7 on Vista. If anyone else has IE7 on Vista it might be interesting to see if you get the same error trying to get to this webpage. I have the version of IE7 that came with the "upgrade" to Vista. I wish I'd stuck with Windows XP. Laura

Why is everyone saying Vista 64-bit won't install unsigned drivers? I installed the latest beta driver from nvidia and Vista warned that it was unsigned but gave me an option to install anyway.

Am I missing something/misinterpretting this or was this only the case in the Beta/RC verisons of Vista and everyone keeps bringing it up (kind of like requiring UAC for changing backgrounds; people still say Vista does it)?

Answer:Digitally signed drivers required under Vista 64-bit?

Short answer: The effects of FUD.

Long answer: The truth is, it was never stated on any official documents that Vista wouldn't accept unsigned drivers. The real mechanism is how Vista handles such drivers, in that the permission level changes, but that's such a 'behind the scenes' object that some ppl though it cooler to just say, "NOEZ, the sky is falling!".

A little background first:

About a week and a half ago, I installed a service upgrade that was automatically sent to one of our computers running XP. It installed fine, but on reboot the system would freeze. I attempted to restart in safe mode, but when doing this, a driver, vax347b.sys would not load and I would get the BSOD.

Note that this is an Alcohol 120% driver that I had had on the comp for a couple of years but which had caused no problems before the upgrade. Assuming that this is really what is keeping me from booting I can get rid of this sucker with extreme prejudice. Also note that I'm fairly sure because of this that it is not a hardware problem (again this happened right after installing an automatically downloaded service pack, and I've already run chkdsk and all).

Now here's where the big problem is, I went through our old systems disks and got an XP disk out. I went to run recovery console, but every time I try to get to this step, for some reason the computer shuts off all of the USB devices, making it so I can't use my keyboard.

I also have a vista CD which will open fine on that computer and get me to command prompt. However, this version of the command prompt does not support the "disable" command normally available in recovery console, so I can't use that. I tried simply moving the driver out of the \drivers folder, but that hasn't helped, so I'm thinking I either need to do something else that the "... Read more

I recently bought a copy of final fantasy 8 for windows '98 off ebay. I have a windows vista laptop. The game is all in working order. When I installed the 'install' disc, everything went fine and it installed correctly. However, in order to start playing the game, you need to insert 'disc 1' into your CD-ROM. When I do this, a window appears saying 'files currently on the disc (5)'. And then listed below are the five files named as : 'disc1.pak' 'Disk1' 'field.fi' 'field.fl' and 'field.fs'. I cannont open any of these without a window saying :'choose the program you want to open this file with', apart from 'disc1.pak' which just appears with 'windows cannot open this file'. It tells me .pak files cannot be opened on my computer, and that I'd have to pay money for a porgram that would delete the 'problems' on my computer for quite a high price. I don't want to spend any extra money and I was wondering what action I should take in order for this game to work on my laptop. Thankyou and I hope you can help!

You don't need to open the files, the game just needs the disk in to run, but if for a reason I don't understand you do you will have to buy software, .pak files are archives that old games decompress on to your hard drive. You might be able to open them with WinRAR but I haven't tried it before. By the way your question is really confusing.

and how will vista look in the final version anyway, like in the betas?
kind of boring to me, but i think it's because i got, the "free" beta.

Answer:is anyone excited about how vista will look in the final version?

I haven't seen anything yet to be excited about, and it will look like it does now. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but the appearance of the OS is one of the last things I care about.

Where can I get this Vista that is RTM? Is it free still and can you still get the product key for free? I'm dying to try this out. Please and thank you if you could hook me up with a link.

Answer:Looked but not one ' final ' answer - Vista RTM..

Vista RTM is NOT free. It is simply the build that has been released to manufacture. Copies have gone out to volume license holders and is on MSDN.

So basically if you're not a holder of a volume license or don't work for a company that holds one and allows you to use/test it, and don't have an MSDN subscription, you won't get it by any legal means.

I found sp1 a few weeks ago and want to make sure I have the final version...is there a way to check?

Answer:How to know if my Vista SP1 install is the final version?

Yes there is, the easy way to do this is to check the System Properties, but if you really want to see which version is installed follow this path (run regedit):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Look at: BuildLabEx, it should read: 6001.18000.x86fre.longhorn_rtm.080118-1840 (for 32bit)

My install was done with an official Vista SP1 Disc and displays the above info.

Vista Transformation Pack is a program that changes system and registry files to transform the looks of XP into Vista/Vista Basic.

I will give a ratings out of 5, 5 being best, 1 being worst.

Ease of Installation: 4

It is pretty easy to install, aside from the fact that if you are running a large DPI text, you won't be able to read a certain few windows that appear. This can cause some confusion, so lower your DPI before you start this!

Ease of Use: 5

This program is surprisingly easy to use once installed. A few programs appear in the task bar that you can use to change many visual preferences.

Features: 5
This thing has so many things it's hard to list them all. It has the sidebar, Icon changes, Task bar changes, and window changes that make it look very much like a real Vista OS.

Bugs: 1

This is the downfall of this program. I am not sure if this will occur on all systems, but it did on mine, which is why I no longer use this program. First of all, attempting to use Dual monitors and changing primary desktops might as well have crashed the computer. If you have Dial Up, or anything you need to hover over in the task bar to view the text, good luck. None of mine worked aside from the clock.
It also caused problems with a few minor things that drove me nuts. If you hate little stuff going wrong, I wouldn't think about downloading/installing this program.

Performance:3

This takes up a decent, yet still too large ... Read more

Answer:Vista Transformation Pack 6.0 Final

Nice review ! The only thing that I don't like about the transformation packs is that they change registry files .

Hi there!

I've been having an ongoing issue with Final Fantasy XI on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition. My system is definitely what you would call outdated, by any means. Yet, I'm still getting terrible frame rate in-game no matter what I set the graphics to. I've seen several articles regarding 6-8 frames per second is expected automatically when you run the game on Vista, but I haven't seen anything regarding detailed specifications that show that it is for certain.

I am wondering if anyone has been through this issue and managed to solve it. I am willing to try pretty much anything to have the game looking nice and running smoothly like everything else I install that seems to work flawlessly.

Answer:Final Fantasy XI + Windows Vista 64-Bit

I doubt it's the hardware, more of Windows Vista, and the fact that it's 64bit, although I don't think your cpu is 64-bit.

I don't know if running in Windows XP compatibility mode would help.

If anybody cant install FF8 on Windows Vista this may help,
I got a copy of FF8 and could not install it on Vista. setup went
to 99% and stoped working.

What i did was to go into Safe Mode and installed it from there with no problems, restarted my pc then installed the 1.2 patch.

FF8 now works fine in Windows Vista

Hi all, I installed the first vista transformation pack like 6 months ago and had zero problems. I then upgraded to VTP6.0RC1, like 2 months ago. Still no problems. Then yesterday I upgraded to the final pack, and now I have problems. I noticed that when I would go to different web pages, my screen would flicker. It's not very noticeable, but it's noticeable enough to bother me. It does it on various web pages that just have text too, like forums. So, I decided to just reformat. Well, it's still doing that. What can it be? I running Windows XP Pro SP2, amd 2600+ with an ati radeon 9800 pro and 1 gig ram. The flicker kind of looks like a black rectangle with some opacity so it kind of looks clear. Any help would be appreciated as always.

Hey guys,

I was struggling with the issue of installing the graphic driver of "Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Driver" for windows 7.

I search a lot through Google and one of the websites I came across is this cool website -- To be exact, I came across this thread :

Windows 7 - Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Driver Issues

And, unfortunately, what was mentioned did not work for me -- I did not go through all the pages though, so if what I am going to share with you is repeated for some/all of you, then I apologize for wasting your time .

I also tried DriverMax. I made a backup of the driver from windows vista -- it was the previous operating system on my laptop. And I tried "painfully" to recover the backup, but I always get the blue screen!!! So, I have to go to the "Safe Mode" and delete the driver in order to make windows work again.

By the way, my laptop is and old Asus (one of the A6 series). -- I am not sure if that's important to know anyway.

To make a long story shorter, my case was the common case that I usually read from users who are suffering "like me" and others from this issue which is the automatic roll back to the standard VGA driver from windows 7 after the first restart. So, when I install the driver after long hours of different attempts using different ways, I get to a point where I get it work but with a restart requirement. Once windows 7 restarts, it rolls back to the standard ... Read more

Answer:Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Driver for Windows 7 -FINAL SOLUTION

Great post as this describes the problem I am having. Just one question, the recommended link for the driver to be used points at a self-installing .exe file which won't work. How do I get the driver only? Sorry if its a stupid question.

Many Thanks

Matt

I've isolated my laptop's (Lenovo Y 40-70) battery gauge issue to a driver called "Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller," listed under "System Devices" in the Device Manager. I've tried uninstalling it (and deleting it, when prompted by a dialogue box) but it always come back after a restart. There is no option to disable it, either - it's greyed out when I access driver properties.

I've tried running the "show or hide updates" troubleshooter, as indicated in the following link:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...9-68c3a305d730

but that didn't work either. The driver simply doesn't show up in the list. I thought I could trigger its presence on the "show or hide updates" troubleshooter if I went to an earlier version of the driver. But I can't do this either - when I go to the driver's properties, the "roll back driver" option is greyed out (just like the "disable" option).

My battery gauge problem has always gone away when I uninstall this driver. Many other Lenovo Y40 users have indicated this driver is the root of their problems and they've gotten rid of it successfully, but not on Windows 10...

Any idea how I can disable this thing?

And yes, I am an "administrator." I can disable other drivers in the device manager list but not this one, for some reason.

Already started a thread on this here http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/903478-help-disabling-driver.html but it ended up evolving into a discussion about, among other things, linux, so I'm going to repost it because I think my problem got buried in there. Anyway,

I installed an automatic windows update for my computer and restarted. Upon restart the computer would freeze on the loading screen. I tried start in safe mode, but the computer would hang loading the driver vax347b then dump me to the BSOD. (I've found out that this is an Alcohol 120% driver and this problem is typical, I just need to get rid of it).

The rub here is when I try to put in an XP CD to get to recovery console, it seems to shut down all of the USB ports, and I cannot use my keyboard (the computer a Dell XPS 400 has no PS2 jacks). Also, if it matters, this is not the XP CD that came with the computer, it is one for another desktop we have.

I was able to get the computer to start up with a Vista CD and get into command console. The "disable" command does not work here though. I tried manually renaming and moving the driver (.sys->.sss and putting it in the windows directory instead of the driver directory) but now at the same point when starting in safe mode it doesn't lag at the point of loading that driver, it just immediately sends me to a blue screen. Moreover, it's not even a "normal" BSOD. It just outputs "- ?".

So I'm thinking I'... Read more

Part of the answer may be to tell BIOS to "Enable USB Legacy Support" so your keyboard and mouse can work while you run the Recovery Console.

I was on Majorgeeks and saw this program. I was wondering if I could get any feedback on any problems or anything. Are there any problems with certain programs? Also, will this program slow anything down much? I finally got CNC: Zero Hour running great, and Company of Herores running at a decent 20 fps, so I don't want it messing up anything!:dead: My last question is, Is it safe?

Thanks!

Question for any of you running Vista - my CPU is sitting at 50% at all times - not sure why.

I am running a 570J (3.8Ghz P4 - with Hyperthreading). The real proc sits at ~90% usage while the HyperThreaded CPU runs at ~10%.

Come to find out FireFox was running still and it had some flash animation playing that was consuming resources like crazy - some sort of leak.

Answer:Vista (final) running at 50% CPU usage at all times

Have you tried using Resource Monitor in Vista? It can be very detailed. The UI shouldn't be using 50% of your CPU. Mine is at 0% when my PC is at idel.
