Nvidia quietly blocks GeForce GTX 900M overclocking once again

Question: Nvidia quietly blocks GeForce GTX 900M overclocking once again

Nvidia has once again decided to prevent some notebook owners from overclocking their Maxwell-based GeForce GTX 900M GPUs, after removing the restriction in a March driver update.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Nvidia quietly blocks GeForce GTX 900M overclocking once again

Why would nVidia do this secretively? This just erodes their relationship with gamers and their buyers... At least give a SIMPLE statement: "Overclocking was shown to make GPUs unstable and lessen their lifespans, so we disabled the overclocking ability in R350 drivers again". No need to keep that secret.

Answer:Nvidia removes overclocking from 900M mobile GPUs, a feature advertised on some notebooks

LOL it is clearly a move by Nvidia to force people to upgrade more often. They will probably take the 980m and do the same thing they did with the 680MX -> keep re-releasing it with 10% higher clocks every year.

Problem is that someone with a 680mx could just overclock it 30% and get an 880m. However this should be a problem for Nvidia, not us. If they want us to upgrade, give us something worth upgrading to!

Nvidia quietly releases GeForce GT 220, G210 to retail - TechSpot News

Answer:Nvidia quietly releases GeForce GT 220, G210 to retail

And don't be in a rush to buy one,

GeForce GT 220 review

For a budget card the GT 220 obviously offers decent value for money. You get plenty of connectivity on the Palit GeForce GT 220 Sonic Edition, silent cooling and a product that offers an excellent desktop usage experience.
Gaming wise cards like these are far from what I can call exciting, of course you are on Guru3D.com and we crave the need for high-end hardware. And as such we might be a little BIAS to a product like shown today. Also our test methodology is designed in such a way that mainstream and faster cards are way more representable in performance scaling. The GT 220 competes well with the Radeon HD 4650 but we do recommend you to look into the Radeon HD 4670 as it outperforms this product at roughly the same price. Then again, if you are into gaming .. we doubt you are even looking at this card as a viable option as you'd be compromising consistently on image quality.
Fact remains that with 48 shader cores in the lower resolution you will be able to play modern games as long as you turn of anti-aliasing, forfeit on image quality and resolution. If your intention is just that, then this might be the card for you. Next to that we have to mention the cards good connectivity and thanks to the 40nm fabrication process, really friendly power consumption.

Almost sounds like the second coming of the FX5200.

I installed Coolbits 2.0 on my Qosmio G20 but the new menu on the graphic card settings not appear. With Rivatuner the frequencies are blocced! Does anyone know how to overclock the graphic card? Thanks

Answer:Overclocking Nvidia GeForce on my G20-129

Hi

As far I know this procedure was only able on the desktop PC with the older Nvidia graphic driver. But as far as I know it?s not possible to activate the option ?Refresh Rate Overrides? on the Toshiba notebooks. Toshiba graphic driver includes a overheating protection because of graphic card overheating issue.
In this case it?s not advisable to overclock anything on the notebook.

I want to overclock my NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT with a software called Rivatuner, so that games won't lag much if its overclocked, anyone would know what settings I should input when I decide to overclock it? thanks for any suggestions or inputs.

Answer:NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT overclocking

Overclocking settings vary from computer to computer. Riva Tuner should not allow you to damage the card or the computer, just increase the clock timings until the computer "tells" you its enough

Im looking to get a little bit more juice out of my Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB. What tools do I need to overclock? Are there any guides out there? How do I know when its passed the limit?

Thanks for reading,
Alan

Answer:overclocking nvidia geforce 4 ti 4200

Alan.
If you are running the lastest Detonator in the display property should have a "overclock" option. That option let you increase the memory and chip speed. If you don't see that option then use google and find the "coolbits registry" hack. Basically it "add" the "overclock " option to the Nvidia tab .
Couple of things to keep in mind though.
1. The more you increase the speed the more heat the card will generate ( all though rare , you can fry the card). So standard Geforce heatsink+ram is not recommended to be used when overclocking.
2. Since you have a Ti4200 even though you might be able to increase the speed ( RAM and chip) you'll not see a "dramatic" increase in game play. The Ti4200 was a "budget" card , meaning it misses some "features" that can increase "game play". You would be better off with a Ati 9600 ( if you have the cash)
3. You'll know you when you'll run into problems with overclocking. You'll see that windows will not be able to run , or will see weird graphics ( be that game play or 2D windows), will see games "crashing" and booting you back to 2D windows. Of course if you'll not able to boot at all and the mobo will start making sounds, you'll know that the card is fried.
If you still are interested, i suggest to start slow. Increase slowly, reboot , try some games , if they look fine and run for 10 min , them increase again and... Read more

Hi,

Thinking about overclocking my Nvidia GeForce 9400 (yeah, I know - not that good!). Anybody got any good tips?

What's the best software to use for this? Atitool, CoolBits, Ntune, Riva Tuner or something else?

Also, what improvement (if any) am I likely to see? and would I be able to play any up-to-date games? e.g. sims3 or Arma 2

As always...any advice - greatly appriciated.

Cheers,

Hey guys, I recently bought a Geforce 9500 GT and I'm looking to overclock it. It's from BFG Tech (part number BFGC951024GTE) It comes clocked at 550, and I'd like to overclock it to 600 or 650 (600 first, watch temps ext.)

When playing games, it averages in about around 54 celcius, which is pretty decent for gaming. It QUICKLY drops down to high 40's (47 currently, just coming from playing WoW on full).

I've heard about RivaTuner, and it looks promising, I'm just not 100% sure yet. How good is RivaTuner, or what can I use to overclock my GPU?

Also, I am using Windows 7. Would this make any difference?

Thanks a lot guys!

Answer:Overclocking a nVidia Geforce 9500 GT?

Overclocking the 9500GT (which is pretty much a 8600GTs) may gain you 2~5fps.

RivaTuner is an OC software you can use. If you want noticeable more performance, you need a better video card... Even something like the $65 4670/9600GT is about twice as fast. But even the 9500gt is more than enough for WOW.

Win7 make a difference in what?

Hi, would like to try overclocking my graphics card. Total newb really like some help. Reason I?m doing this is to see if I can improve quality off Battle Field 2. Can?t afford to upgrade Graphics card or memory.

Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack Service Pack 2
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4E, 3000 MHz
Motherboard Chipset Intel Springdale i865PE
System Memory 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

Have done a search but dont seem to be able to find anything to help.

Answer:Overclocking NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (256 MB)

to overclock a Nvidia card u need something like Riva Tuner or Coolbits2. they both allow u to increase the core clock speed and memory speed. however only increase them by a small amount each (10mhz) and watch out for rising temps. always thoroughly test ur new configuration before u increase the speed again. just in case u dont know this, u can destroy ur card and it will void ur warranty.
and by the way. there is an overclocking section in this forum. thats where this Thread belongs and u should read the guide there...

I am currently overclocking my graphics card. I have increased the frequencies as follows:
Core was 200 now 216
Mem was 390 now 393

I am pleased with the results so far but iwas wondering how far i should go. There dont seem to be any comparisons posted on the net.

Answer:Overclocking Nvidia Geforce 4200 Go mobile

how far you should go depends on YOUR chip and memory, not what everyone else has. so as a guage, i recommend you loop 3dmark 2001 demo or something like that and look for artifacts. if you see triangular/polygonal shapes appearing that don't belong, then your gpu is too high. if you start seeing snow (typically green), then the memory is too high.... or i could have gotten that backwards, but those are the two signs that tell you your setup is too fast. you also have to consider heat, as well, but that shouldn't be too hard to tell if it's too hot.

O... Here's my dillema.   My HP NVIDIA card (HP p/n 466762-001 rev:M03) in my HP Model: 9520f Windows 7 Ultimate machine failed.   I replaced it with an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT card (p/n 5188-8004, asus p/n C403H) that came from a spare HP Pavillion Model a6150y Vista machine I had on hand. The initial VID/Graphics card failure and susequent replacement caused much havock with Windows and some other stuff (ie, not booting/loading Windows etc...) and after much effort I was able to get everything loading & working reasonable well again.   But the problem I'm still having is with the old drivers (removing them and all their remnants) and loading the new drivers for the ASUS NVIDIA card that is now in my machine.  I've tried normal uninstalls as well as the GURU 3D.com DDU uninstall.  I think (and it appeares) that all the old NVIDIA drvers and other software has been uninstalled because I can not find any of it in the normal locations.   But I am still unable to install the NVIDIA 8500GT drivers for the ASUS card from the NVIDIA site or even the NVIDIA drivers/software updates that Windows Update has detected and suggested in Windows updates.  The insalls start out fine but soon fail to complete. Evidently I (and my brother who was in my machine remotely for a good 6 hours because he is an IT/Computer tech and is ten times more knowledgable than I on this) are missing something very... So I just updated to windows 10. and first thing i go to do is turn up my saturation, nvidia control panel doesnt work, i go to my device manager looks like my graphics card isnt even installed, i install it and restart pc, nvidia control panel still doesnt work, I install geforce experience, that wont launch either.

Tips??

Answer:Nvidia geforce experience & nvidia control panel not working.

Nightmare, but I managed to fix things on my computer.

First I stopped Microsoft updates.
Then uninstalled every NVIDIA program/driver/utility I could find and (IMPORTANT) deleted the install folders!

To stop Windows 10 updates do this...

Open the start menu and type "Advanced"
Select the second result, "View Advanced System Settings"
In the "System Properties" window that just opened, select the hardware tab
Click the "Device Installation Settings" button
Select "No, let me choose what to do"
Select the "Never install driver software from Windows Update"

To boot into safe mode do this...

Type msconfig and open the System Configuration utility.
Click "Boot" and check the "Safe Boot" option.

Next time you boot into Windows 10 it will be in 'Safe Mode.'
Install the following driver...

353.49-desktop-win10-64bit-international.hf.exe

Do NOT install the GForce Experience and do not update the graphics driver to the newer version.

I dunno if this will work for you, but it sorted out my problems.
Incredibly, even after I had disabled Windows updates the crafty twat STILL downloaded an NVIDIA driver.
Now I get pop up alerts from the task bar whining that it can't do the update!

Microsoft... Inching it's way slowly into the past!

Hi all,
I have a XPS 8300 from 2011.
My son wanted to upgrade his GPU (he has a Erazer 310 (www.inet.se/.../lenovo-erazer-x310-gtx-750) which has a Nvidia GTX 750 Ti like this one (www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-750-Ti-Desktop-Graphics-Card.126721.0.html)
So I thought it was the perfect time to take his 750 Ti and upgrade both PC's at the same time.
I took my GPU out of the XPS 8300 and inserted the 750 TI. Nothing happened. The PC did not recognize the card.
Then I started to read all types of discussions, problems, adventures and what not, about this PC and a GPU upgrade. Man, I was about to do a BIOS flashing without even knowing what that meant...I have to admit that it has been 2 very interesting days and I have learnt a lot and then...
Then I found the simpliest video with the simplest explanation on how to do proceed. I tried it and completely succeeded in about 15 minutes (plus 10 minutes of downloading a driver).
So, here is the link to the video. The video is in Spanish but these are the SO LOGICAL steps (www.youtube.com/watch):
I added two steps on my own and then followed the video:
1. My step: Turn on the PC and unistall the stock GPU (from the device manager)
2. Turn of the computer.
The video explanation starts in second 50:
3.Disconnect the power (for security reasons).
4. Open the case and extract the GPU you currently have (he does not show this in the video)
5. Check that at least you have 300 W. The XPS 8300 has a 460 W power supply so... Read more

Lenovo seems to be lagging behind in getting updated graphics drivers from Nivida to its loyal customers.  So I went to the Nvidia site and looked.  The date on my driver is 12/16/2008.  When I let nvidia scan my system it reports that it is driver 179.30.  The latest for the 105m is 186.  And to add insult to injury Nvidia says "The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site."  Sooooooo....... I have two questions: 1)  for Lenovo - when do you expect to release a new Nvidia driver for us? 2)  for other (apparantly) forgotton loyal Lenovo cusoters like myself: .....Has anyone gone ahead and installed the Nvidia driver?  Does it work?  Are there problems?  How did you get around them? Ok sorry - that's more than 2 questions.  :-)  But I think you get my drift. Brassie

Hi, Im thinking about buying a new graphic card and found a card i liked named ASUS GeForce 9400 GT. On the website where they sell it its located under the tab Nvidia, yet if I check out Nvidias prducts page their 9400 GT looks completely different from this one. Then I check out ASUS page and there I find it. So what's the difference between ASUS and Nvidia, why do their cards have the same name, and why does the website im buying it from put the ASUS card under Nvidia products????

Answer:Difference between ASUS GeForce and Nvidia GeForce???

Nvidia designs and makes the GeForce line of graphics chips. Other manufacturers such as Asus, evga, BFX, PNY and others then use the Nvidia chips in their graphics card designs.

I have an older machine I use for backup (Dell OptiPlex 745) fairly well appointed, with an on-the-motherboard graphics adapter (Intel, I think) running one monitor and a plug-in nVidia based adapter, running two monitors. I was running Linux on it until January 2015, when I joined the Windows Insider Program and installed Win 10. At first the two nVidia-driven monitors would not work at all, but in a few months they started working after an update download from Microsoft (I was a "fast track" Insider). All was well until February 2016, when both nVidia monitors quit working and my WiFi card went dead. I tried a number of things, but no no avail. I got the nVidia-based monitors when I directly downloaded a driver from the manufacturer, but after that, when the first Microsoft update was downloaded, the nVidia-driven screens went blank. I really need three monitors for the work I do. I tried all sorts of things, including a hard disk wipe and complete reload of Win 10. No success. I just ran out of time to experiment with it after a few weeks.

I'm now very concerned about my main machine. It's an older custom-built machine with an Intel Core2 Q6600 processor and two graphics cards: a GeForce 8800GT and GeForce 9500GT, driving four monitors. I really can't screw up on my Win 7 to 10 upgrade and loose this machine because of bad device drives forced on me by Microsoft.

QUESTION: Does anyone have success with the 8800GT and/or 9500GT?

Hi @websquad .

IMHO you should stop Device driver automatic installation, then Uninstall the installed nvidia driver, and try 341.95 WHQL.

341.95 WHQL should work with both of your cards.
Just make one thing sure, perform a driver only installation of the nvidia installer package.

Hello Overson, welcome to the forum

Windows update does not necessarily install the newest drivers . If you are having no problems with the driver 266.58 then I would stay with that one

Alright guys I have another issue. First here is my computer specs.

motherboard-nforce 680i sli
cpu-intel E6600 2.4ghz fps 1066 overclock to 3.0ghz with a fsb 1333 and mulitplier
x9 still and all temp staying below 60c on the CPU so I think thats pretty safe.
video card- PNY geforce 260 gtx 896mb
ram-4 gigs of kingston 1066mhz ddr2 5-5-5-15
sound card- Turtle Beach montego
hard drive- 80gig seagate 7200 rpm
power supply- 650 watt antec

ok guys I am trying to overclock my video card using rivatuner. I set core clock/shader clock and memory clock to what alot of people do what they got stable with the PNY model and I get great fps increase on crysis. Getting about almost 5-10 fps extra in certain spots in the game. Just cause to fps increase on benchmark run was pretty damn impressive too. 25fps to 38fps average on benchmark run. Now after 30min of running my card I run into a issue where on crysis my FPS drops all the way down to 8-10 fps and justcause 2 drops down in the low 20fps. I am like what the crap. Core temp is staying BELOW 60c so I am wondering is there something I have to do in bios? Maybe increasing something on my PCIe slot?

core clock - 266
memory clock - 366

ive been playing quake 3 for hours... and it seems to be working great. but im scared this things gonna catch on fire! can someone tell me if these settings are safe or if i should turn em down quick! thanks!!

Answer:geforce 2 ti overclocking??

Those are some really odd speeds. Here are the specs for GF2 cards ( Non MX ) :

GF2 GTS -> 200 / 333 ( 166 DDR )
GF2 Pro -> 200 / 400
GF2 Ti -> 250 / 400
GF2 Ultra -> 250 / 460

When you finish playing a few hours, touch the card & the ram modules & see if there's a lot of heat generated. It's the best way to know if you're overstressing your Vid Card.

I would just like to point out that the information on overclocking the GeForce 2 isn't accurate. I have a GeForce 2 MX400 w/64MB of video ram, and I am currently running my card with the memory overclocked to 350 MHz, and the processor at 250 Mhz without any visual impurities or instability problems.

Just bought a GeForce 6800 (regular, not GT/Ultra...poor college student) and i want to try to overclock it. Can anyone provide me with a link to a good program to do so, and some hints on how to do it? Is there a way to get the extra 4 pipelines unlocked on it (like GT/Ultra)? I read something about that on the Overclocker's forum, but i can't understand any of it.

I have a PCI slot fan below it immediatly blowing out the air coming off the card, should help overheating some, and latest drivers, etc. Thanks.

Just some good and friendly advice.

Inspired from the idea from the TS home page, I am curious about overclocking my 4600 (without volt-modding). Does anyone know any sites/people that could help me in this task? I am serious about this, I am not just some ***** (as dumb as I may be) who won't take the proper precautions.

Answer:Overclocking a GeForce 4 TI4600

Well some sites that might help:
overclockers.com
http://www.tweak3d.net/articles/voc/ (specific article)
techspot.com (if they have any info on it)

Then you have to dl a program that lets you overclock. Many programs exist, such as powerstrip lol and thats the only one I can think of. They allow you to change your memory and processor speeds (on your GPU of course). Its mostly trial and error, bump up the MHz by 5-10 then run an intensive test like 3Dmark, and see if you have any artifacts, or if it crashes. If none of the above happens you can keep going up...

My card normally runs around 135MHz idle, and has a stock boost clock of 1366MHz. I've managed to up this to 1470MHz (+104MHz) without any voltage adjustments and with the fans around 40% it still floats in the low to mid 40s for temps (currently 43C). I've been informed that with a little voltage adjustment, I should be able to go as high as 1500MHz, but I'm not sure if it's worth potentially shortening the lifespan of my card for an extra 30MHz. The most demanding game I play is Minecraft (laugh it up, go ahead) with Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders (which is very demanding on hardware). I've seen an overall framerate increase of about 3-4fps for my efforts.

As this is my first time overclocking a graphics card, I'm looking for someone with a little more experience in the area to tell me if I should quiet down and be satisfied with what I've gotten out of this relatively mediocre card, or if I should go ahead and push it a little further.

Answer:EVGA Geforce GTX 970 SC overclocking

That is a very good OC. I OC for benchmarks, but run stock for games. as long as you maintain low temps like you have, you are good.

Hey, guys. I have a question: What is the overclockability of a GeForce FX 5500 PCI graphics card running at stock cooling? Is it even worth it? What if that card were in a system with a 250W PSU running near it's limit? Would adjusting the latency settings improve the smoothness of the graphics (and eliminate jerkiness that I commonly see in the Sims 2 with the neighborhood fly-in at 1024x768)? If you must know, this is System #1 in my profile.

Answer:Overclocking a GeForce FX 5500

I would imagine that any system that you run is barely running stable on 250 watts of power. The overclock on that card is limited, but is even more limited by your ambients temps.

you can use rivatuner,if you are not sure adjusting the core and mem. speed, use coolbits Enable overclocking in NVIDIA Detonator drivers. Just select 'install' from within your windows explorer to import this .reg file into the registry. Afterward you'll have overclocking and addtional option from within your Detonator drivers.

Answer:Overclocking a Geforce 6800GT

i think the safest way is to use coolbits 2 or rivatuner. u will need to increase the speed of the 3D core and ram to get some faster results. with that card u should easily be able to run it at ultra speeds, 400/1100, or even higher. but watch out that it doesnt run too hot!
which card have u got exactly?

I've been looking for the best way to overclock my 8800gt in Win7 x64 build 7077.

I've tried installing RivaTuner 2.24 but I'm still getting the "Driver not digitally signed" crap. Then I tried CoolBits, but couldn't seem to get that to work either.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? My full system specs are below. And, I know this tread might be better off in the Graphics Card forum but I think the problem is more related to the OS and not the card itself as I had no issues under XP x86.

CPU: i7 920 @ 3.2
Mobo: Bloodrage - BIOS P07
RAM: 3x2GB G.Skill 1600
GFX: 8800GT soon to be SLi

I recently bought a geforce 6800 gt 256 mb video card by EVGA. And my favorite game, Battlefield 2, cant handle it on all high settings on 1024x768 resolution. It runs well, but sometimes, i get frame drop to like 20. Thats with Anti aliasing turned off.
So i am deciding to buy this cooling for it.

And was wondering how much i can bring up the core clock speed up by, and if that speed would make any differnce?
Here are my system spec

-Amd Athlon 64, 3200+ (With Dynamic overlocking enable, which increases processor speed by 10 % under heavy load)
-MSI K8t neo MB
-2 gig corsair XMS ram
-AC97 audio onboard sound
oh yeah, the card is AGP version.

Answer:Overclocking My EVGA Geforce 6800 gt

every single card is different. I`ve had some cards that will clock to the sky, I`ve had others that would hardly do 10MHz over stock, it`s just luck of the draw as to how good your card will overclock. I use coolbits to overclock as it`s about the easiest and has an auto detect feature which most times gives you a good overclock, but also keeps you in a 'safe' zone....in theory anyway.

the next best thing would be to better cooling and to perform a voltage mod on it to allow for a better overclock. I don't recommend the voltage mod, though, since you're permanently soldering onto the nvidia card by doing that. but anyhow, you're probably better off tweaking something else in your computer if you already haven't done so.

Hello,

I am thinking of getting a new graphics card for x-mas. I currently have a Geforce 8600 GT and i was looking at this GT 220.

Which is better? i think the 220 is but i just wanted some expert confirmation.

GT 220: http://www.siliconmadness.com/2009/07/nvidia-geforce-g-210-and-gt-220.html (scroll down past the 210)

8600 GT: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600.html (The right Column)

Answer:NVIDIA GT 220 VS Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

Why bother? If you want to upgrade from an 8600GT - you need to buy a card that has a noticable difference.

For example... the 9500/9400GTs are also pretty much re-badged 8600s. Think of the 220 as a smaller and cheaper to make version of the 8600GT with blu-ray decoding abilities. Its more like a bit better version of the 8600GTs.... that costs $65~95.

An ATI 4670 is about $60~95. Heres a nice one at $80: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161287&cm_re=4670-_-14-161-287-_-Product

But for real big speed bumps - look at ATI 4800s/5700s or at least a GTX 260... or even the GT250 (which is a 9800GT which is a 8800GT - UGH! )
These cards are about $ 120~200.

Your power supply will also be important too. Do you know your brand and model number?

Also your computers own performance.

Ive just tried to unlock the extra 4 pipelines and the extra vertex shader using riva tuner, when i did n then tried to run the benchmark i just got a blank screen. Is this because this particular chip will not mod or could it be that my power supply is really at its limit and cant hack it. Would i be able to unlock these extra pipelines with a better power supply.

I have good case ventilation and have already wacked up the core and ram clock speeds with no problem.Could it be the **** power supply???

Hello,

In an attempt to push my laptop to the maximum and get the best performance out of it as I can, I've started looking into overclocking my video card. I've visited various sites, and the answers stretch from "safe ways to overclock a 7150M", "how I overclocked a 7150M", to "never overclock a laptop period".

However, I am unsure if it is possible to overclock my laptop's video card, though I'm sure many of you know more on the subject; any help, information, and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

In addition, if there are any other ways that I could increase the performance of my laptop, I'd be happy to hear them.

int he video cards settings it has an option for overclocking. it has both auto and a manual option. when i click auto it gives me a long warning on how it voids my warranty and could seriously hurt my system. ive had no problems with the card but i wouldnt mind it faster. would it be worth it to overclock?

Answer:overclocking nvidia 6600gt

It all depends on you. The performance gains you recieve are pretty much goign to be solely for bragging rights. That card can run any game on the market right now at good speeds and high settings, without over clocking. So it's not like it will effect game play really. Doing it would pretty much just be to increase scores on benchmarks at this point.

There's obviously some fine tuning needed.

Hello, As you can read from the title im looking for a little advise on overclocking these cards. I dont have funds for new cards ATM and am wanting to overclock them instead of buying new ones. I'm only looking for insite from people who really know what their doing here. So please, a small guide on how to overclock these guys keeping in mind im running SLI, I dont know if that makes a difference. Any info needed simply ask and I will tell.

Answer:Dual Nvidia 8800 GT SLI overclocking

I would use EVGA precision (sorry, no link atm) and just...overclock?
SLI doesn't make any difference except temperature wise. Also you can individually control the graphics cards, but thats not necessary. Just keep temperatures in check.

With the 8800gt, you could easily reach 650 (my suggestion is to just leave the shader clock in check with the core speed, I believe EVGA precision will do this by default), and just inch on from there while watching temps and stress testing with games or something.

Do not go over these limites, and you are going to need to download a fan control program for your mac side, set up a higher fan speed, get core temp and make sure you don't go over 90C

And I take no responsibility for you frying your card. Although I've been gaming on these settings for over a year, and I'm completely fine. So take it as you will, I get almost 25%+ better performance with these settings.

Answer:Nvidia 9600M GT overclocking Rivatuner

There are no safe setting when overclocking, its trial and error with always a chance of artifacts/corruption/overheating and possible permanent damage.

Here's a guide to Rivatuner: http://www.vaguetech.com/index.php?pageid=rt207
And another: http://www.pcperformancetips.com/2008/10/rivatuner-overclocking-guide/

I have two EVGA SSC GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 - ACX2.0+ graphics cards. I made a mistake on getting only 2GB of VRAM. Play many games on 4K High-Maximum settings, and others down to 1080p with graphics on medium.

I want to know what I can do with EVGA's PrecisionX to push my cards a little further, without hurting them. I already have KBOOST on. Temperature, power, and cost to run them isn't a problem. I haven't boosted any other settings on it, however, I am uncertain that my cards have already reached their maximum potential.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:EVGA PrecisionX with two NVIDIA cards, overclocking?

Start saving some money, sell the 960`s and get a 1060 or 1070, you won`t get much more out of a 960.

I am cosidering overclocking my 2 geforce 8800 ultra's from 768mb to at least 1024mb

And i also would like to overclock my quad core 2.5 to about 2.9 - 3.0
but befroe i do, i would like to know if any has made this possible before.

Don't want to start O/Cing and something goes wrong, bearing in mind this will be my first time O/Cing.

Any help on this matter would be great.

Main purpose is to have all the settings on GTA4 on highest possible and still have memory left over to play without probs.

much apreciated.

Specs are as follows:

Vista Ultimate x64 Build 6001 with SP1
Intel Core2Quad Q9300 2.5GHz
XFX 780i SLI DDR2
8GB Kingston Hyperx Ram
2x Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra 768mb (XFX/EVGA)
ThermalTake 1200w Power Supply.
Samsung 500Gb SATA HDD
Samsung DVD/RW
Cooling - 140 mm Top fan, 120mm Rear fan, 12mm Front Fan, Artic Cooler Freezer pro 7

Answer:Overclocking an Nvidia 8800 Ultra/ Quad Core 2.5

You can't overclock your Ultra like that. You can only overclock the frequency speeds, like the core speed and memory speed, not the amount of physical memory.

Overclocking your CPU from 2.5 to 3.0GHz should be easy. I overclocked my CPU from 2.66GHz to 3.0GHz easily with no problem.

Your graphic cards are fine for GTA4. GTA4 doesn't use SLI yet, and 1 Ultra is enough. A friend of mine is running GTA4 with a Core i7 920 and a single Ultra and he gets 65fps on max everything.

Core i7s run GTA4 amazingly, quad cores run it well, but still get some slowdowns on maximum everything.

Question: Nvidia geforce 210

hi can forgive me for my dumbness

can anyone explain to me my Graphic Card Specs

Im asking this because i remember buying this graphic card a year ago having 1gb. Im confused because i can't see 1gb on the specs.

Answer:Nvidia geforce 210

It depends on the card manufacturer. What you have linked to is the page from NVidia which lists the reference specs for a card of that type. Other manufacturers take the reference design and customize/tweak it. The changes that they typically make is to increase the amount of memory (usually by higher-capacity chips or by inserting chips into otherwise empty memory positions on the PCB) and/or pre-overclock the card (make it run faster than reference).

To find the actual specs for your card, you will need to check the card manufacturer's website (Sparkle, PNY, etc.).

I don't know much about GPUs on PCs, I recently just got a Zotac GT 430 1GB DDR3 and when I go to install it's own drivers from the new March 2012 Nvidia GeForce drivers, it installs this NVIDIA HD Audio drivers and I got no sound since I can't use my Realtek Audio, I have to disable my realtek onboard audio on the BIOS to avoid the system from crashing/freezing, I mostly got freezing. I just need help, I hope someone can tell me how I can install the GT 430's drivers fine and NVIDIA Audio drivers (if I have to) and still use my Realtek Audio without my system having a conflict with NVIDIA and Realtek audio drivers.

What I have been told to fix this (via Steam): use older drivers via from the CD. - But I wanna know what you people here at TechSupportGuy think.

Hi guys. I am planning on upgrading my GTX 555 OEM cause its a little to low end for my taste. The question I have for all the tech-savy people out there is which graphics card should I get? A Geforce GTX 680, 690, or 780? I've heard that the 690 is basically 2 680s running in SLI. If that's true, that means any games that wont work with SLI or don't perform well with SLI, will still have the same problems and I wont be able to do anything about it. So i was wondering which one do you think I should get? I wanna be able to run any next gen games on max settings if not, one below max settings.

Thanks.

Hello every1
i have got a NVIDIA geforce 2 MX 400 graphics card, my windows 7 is automatically installing a standard vga instead of installing my graphics card, i have search alot for the suitable drivers for the mentioned graphics card but no improvement. plz someone help me, i m quite in trouble.

thanx in advance

Answer:NVIDIA Geforce 2 MX 400

mrViXey, welcome to the forums.

The reason you can't find any drivers for that card is that there aren't any, and haven't been any for close to 5 years. Here is a thread from our graphics card section,

HELP driver for geforce 4 mx 440 agp8x

that most had good luck using the 71.90 XP driver, or you can try the last XP driver,

ForceWare Windows XP/2000 32-bit

One thing that won't happen is Aero will not work on that card.
