I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an air-cooled Freezer 13 on my i5-2500k. But I just wanted to know if the majority is using water cooled these day? Is it much better with water-cooled? Seems like a lot of works for maintenance.

Answer:Are you a water-cooled or air-cooled user?

Hi

Some like air and soem like water, I know a few that jump to water to test it out, and while temp figures are good with water as you say it takes some time to perfect and maintain.

Personally I still like Air, but again to perfect good PC cooling it also takes time and some research on products, airflow and cases. I have an i7 920 and use an Coolermaster CM690 with a Zalman 9900CNPS on the CPU and all case fans have been changed to Noctua fans (120mm ones and are very quiet).

With good fan placement and direction of airflow, after 2hrs of PC being on the idle temp of CPU is around 27-29C and this is with the case fans from Noctua only running at <600RPM, could make them run faster and thus cool the PC more but at the expense of some extra noise, so its a balance.

A few folk who use H2O will likely pop into your thread and you may see a few threads already on water in the forums.

It's not the first time we see a watercooled Xbox 360: x-scene forum moderator Xboxexpert made one and we've also seen one from hardocp.com. But unlike to the 2 previous one, this one is fully internal ... it's all inside the Xbox 360 case.
The hardware mod features:
* Both CPU (Zern GPU block) and GPU (Koolance GPU-180-H06 block) watercooled with internal Tank-o-Matic mini reservoir, 12v thermaltake pump and DD fill port on the plexi window.

Question: Water Cooled??

Ok, I know alot of you... most of you... do not really like the idea of water cooling--at least from what I've read. And quite frankly it sounds pretty iffy to me, I mean, water and electronics??
But suppose, hypothetically speaking of course, that I wanted to water cool this new computer I'm building...what exactly will I need? Do I need a special case for the sizing requirements? What equipment will I need to accomplish this? And most importantly what steps can I take (other than not using it ) to keep from frying my system due to a water leakage?

Thanks!

Answer:Water Cooled??

Here is a site that has some different setups.

http://www.crazypc.com/products/cooling/watercooling.htm#kits

I don't really know anything about the water cooling systems. How much cooler do they make the cpu than a good heatsink and fan? Like you said also about leaks, how good are they, how long will they last. It sounds like they could be more problem than good.

I know there are people on here that have them and they could probably tell you how theirs have been.

Hi
Can anyone advise me here, I have an Alienware desktop that i've started to upgrade,
I've installed a pair of 8800 ultras and a QX6800 Extreme cpu . The pc's about 11 months old and came with it's own water cooling for it's original duo x6800, i'm trying to put some mild over clocking in place but my cpu temps are too high ,idle in the bios show 70c with standard settings ie no over clock . The rad doesn't feel hot at all , I'm not sure how critical the heat paste is as I didn't have a lot spare when I changed the cpu's over, I've heard this type of cpu is supposed to be a good over clocker even just with air cooling.
Any ideas anyone?.

Thanks Adrian.

Could anyone explain how a water cooled computer works?

Does it work like a car engine? water running through the whole computer? How is it possible?

I don't get it. Thanks.

Answer:water cooled computer?

You get heat conductive plates and attach them to the componants your cooling - then attach pipes and a pump. The water is moved past the heat plates and moves the heat with it. It usually ends up in a cooling tank after this. Then it goes aorund again.

Alright, I am considering water cooling for my PC, but I am extremely uncertain on these things. Where should I get the system? What brand should I get? And also, how stable is water cooling? I know that if I get it, water + electricity = BAD

Answer:Considering Water cooled system

Water Cooling is a very good way to get extreme cooling for your PC whilst minimising noise.

As with alot of things, with water cooling, you tend to get what you pay for, therefore I suggest that you have a decent budget before you look into this option. That said, you can get lucky and find some decent kits that are inexpensive, but obviously, they have their limitations.

As for what brand, Zalman and Vapo Chill are very good.

Finaly your comment about water and electricity. Most water kits can be combined with a non-electricaly conductive solution, similar heat properties to water only without the possability of frying your components if the worst happens.

Question: water cooled cases

Building a new comp in the near future, thinking about water cooling...what companies make water cooled cases? The only one that I have seen is the Koolance one that has the big Antec-looking case (that I like the look of very much...). Also, do these systems really keep your comp much cooler? I'll probably be going with an athlon 64 3200 and I want a cool system without a bunch of noise. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:water cooled cases

Yes, I have only seen Koolance water cooled cases, I am assuming there is other companies, but Koolance is the main manufacturer of water cooled cases.

I just finished installing water coolers ( a Coolermaster Aquagate) to my SLI system, on the 8800GT's. It want a "want it" mod, I was having probs with overheating, and geting major artifacting. It seems to have solved the problem quite well
Question is, on the original cooler system, yje memory chips were also receiving heat sink cooling from the original cooler. Now, I have 2x 120mm fans blowing directly over the cards, and a 140 floor mounted fan blowing onto them, will this be enough to keep them cool or do I need to look at instaling some additional heat sinks? No problems after a 12 hour run, but I would prefer to be safe. Any ideas?

Answer:Water cooled 8800GT

I doubt you would have to worry about adding additional heat sinks, sounds like you have it cooled from every angle as it stands, I have the 8800 GTS in a dell e521 it’s a compact case, and I just added one additional fan. It's been running for almost 3 months now and I have had no issues even playing Crysis.

Hi there, I have a self built water cooled pc that's been running for 8years. PC recently developed a problem of not being able to boot. Pc will post and try to boot but not complete. looks like a cooling issue. ideally i don't want to fault find the cooling loop as i suspect the pump is ko'd. All i need is to retreive the log in details for a website. os is xp home, ie8 installed. website set up with temp details ie 10 min mail address, so can't resend password or reset. I'm looking to decrypt password store for ie 8 or somehow virtualize the whole xp system and run under windows 7. Any help will be greatly welcomed.

IE 8 has an autocomplete feature...but I have always thought that website passwords are part of the data that is maintained in respective cookies for websites. I don't use the browser autocomplete function.But...take a look at the data under Passwords at http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=348 .I know nothing about virtualization, but if you mean that you want to re-establish XP as a virtual install on a Win 7 system...that topic can probably be best explored in the Win 7 forum. You may want to review some of These Links.Louis

This is the one I am interested in:

Answer:Koolance Water Cooled Cases

Water is a nice way to go. I prefer the prebuilt water cases because they're easier and I wouldn't really trust my own work to stay watertight. I researched Koolance over a year ago but decided on the Swiftech Q-Power case instead. The Koolance is also a nice choice.

Sent my pc in for an upgrade from an AMD fx8320 to an Intel I7 7700k (Also upgraded the board to an Asus Maximus Viii).
I currently also have a corsair H80Vi water cooler on the old cpu. After a conversation with the guy he said you don't want a crappy water cooler, you need it to be air cooled so much more reliable and less likely to go wrong.
I always had in my head that water cooling was the way to go and that is why i spent alot of money on the h80v2.
Is there any logic behind what this guy said? Or should I put my water cooler back on my I7 and take the block air cooler off??

Hi there, I have a Carillon Audio P.C which is solely used for recording. The problem I have is noise from my P.C is being picked up by my microphones. I have a 3.2 GHZ P4 CPU which is cooled by a Zalman Cooler. The CPU fan is running at around 3200 rpm, is this a good speed? My CPU temp goes as high as 60 0c. This doesnt seem to high but would i notice an increase in performance if it were cooler? I have no case fans at present. My PSU is Carillon made and very quiet indeed. Would water cooling my CPU be a good option? Is water cooling very quiet as the noise of my P.C is the most important thing to me, but I also need high performance beacause of demanding performance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Low noise for recording -considering water cooled-is my CPU fan o.k?

3200RPM is good/normal speed for Zalman CPU cooler fan.
60C is high side of normal for a P4 underload, you will NOT notice performance improvement if it was lower. The only time performance falls off is if the CPU gets so hot it slows the clock frequency down automatically to prevent overheating. Your temps are nowhere near high enough for that to happen.

Water cooling can be quieter, but I guess it depends on the make/model you buy. They also can have a fan to cool the water and this is external of the PC usually setting near/beside the PC. These fans don't have to spin so fast as HSF (Zalman) so are generally quieter.

Wait for a few others here to post/recommend a good brand, I'm not in the know on that topic.

cheers.

Question: The Radeon R9 390X

More rumors of this new single gpu card from AMD.

The Radeon R9 390X would be quite the beast, featuring 4224 Stream Processors, 264 Texture Units (TUs), 96 ROPS, a Core Clock of around 1GHz, Memory Clocks hitting 7GHz or so, and a super-wide 512-bit memory bus.

Hmm. AMD really gave it their all when their released GCN 1.0 back in 2011. They released GCN cards from the top dog 7970 down to the 7730. From there, GCN 1.1 only saw 3 single GPUs and GCN 1.2 just 1 GPU so far.

Hi folks,

I recently built my first PC and am now in the process of improving 1 or 2 bits.
So far, all I got is a new graphics card, next on the list is a new cpu cooler so I can overclock.
I have never used liquid cooling before but I like the idea of no (or barely audible) noise.
I've got about £45 to spend on a cooler, could maybe stretch a bit more for the right one.
I have found 1 liquid and 1 air cooler that I could go with but I would like some advice before buying either of them.

The liquid cooler is - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Kuhle...YE4Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331985000&sr=8-1

And the Air cooler is - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Akasa-AK-CC...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1331985222&sr=1-1

But I am open to suggestions for other coolers. My PC spec is filled in so take a look, and bear in mind the upgrades I've got planned.
Will any of these be good enough for my pc when all upgrades have been applied ?

Answer:Air Cooled or Liquid Cooled ?

You mentioned in another thread that you plan to over-clock it to 4.5 GHz, so I think you need water cooling for that.

Question: high Bandwidth

Can a problem in a cisco router cause the internet bandwidth to go so high? I ask this because. in my office we use kaspersky internet security to block all websites. all windows update has being turned off yet the internet bandwidth goes up unexpectedly and comes down in abt 10min time. Can the router be the problem>

Answer:high Bandwidth

Usually people are only concerned when the bandwidth goes down unexpectedly. The ISP controls your internet access bandwidth. A router or other customer equipment could cause it to be lower, but not higher.

Hey Guys.

My problem is my PC is constantly hammering my home network, constantly receiving loads of bytes, even though I have no browsers open or programs which should use it. I tried running the machine in Safe Mode with Networking so there would only be a few processes running and it still consumes a lot of bandwidth. I'm guessing some port has been hijacked somehow, but can't ascertain why or how.

I have a DELL C810 laptop running Windows 2000 Professional. I initially believed the problem to be caused by a Trojan but none of the Antivirus (McAfee) or Anti-Spyware (Ad-Aware) detect the true cause of the problem. I have deleted all of the files they suggest but the problem still exists.

I have attached a HijackThis log taken after I ran a Virusscan and an Ad-Aware scan using the settings suggested in other threads and the latest definition files. If someone could at least eliminate any potential problems there I'd appreciate it.

Also if there's any ideas how I can locate the problem that would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance.

Johnny

First of all I charged my bundle to do some work and I noticed after 30 min from recharging it and sitting on my computer using my mobile as hotspot, 50% of my monthly bundle is used which is about 3,5 gb used in just 30min which should have stayed with me for 2 weeks.
I tried to check what is using it but cant find an answer, also I have utorrent installed so I suppose it is a malware.
I have tried running many scans using, malwarebyte, Iexplorer, tpskiller, zemana, adwcleaner and nothing was fetched.
Also I completely wipe my laptop and installed a new version of windows 8.1
Also when I open my hotspot in the first sec 8mb consumed, so I cannot let my pc online.
Hope this gives enough info about my problem

Hello,
Recently my PC has been constantly pumping out data, probably to the web. I believe this because every time I turn on my computer the bandwidth goes down to 0.4Mbps compared to a usual 16Mbps... I've tested with other PCs on the network. I believe it's a virus... I've tried running an avast! boot time scan, Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10, Adware cleaner, TDSS Killer to no avail. Please help.
Also, what log should I be posting?
Thanks a lot,
ajar

i have noticed that svchost.exe has recently been hogging alot of the bandwidth on my computer. At times it climbs to about 50% even when no applications have been opened. I have performed the steps for removing malware that are listed on this site along with running a couple other scans and everything shows as being clean.

Also can anyone help me look over my highjackthis log to see if i need to fix anything there?

Maybe im just being paranoid but all the svchost activity is starting to make me nervous. :confused

My OS is windows 10. Mid July 2016 I found my network bandwidth usage had jumped from 2 to 3 gb per day to 13 to 15 gb per day. My ISP bundle allows 350 gb per 30 days.Using Networx I monitor daily usage. My normal monthly usage was 130 gb, as of this writting its over 300 gb since July 12, 2016. I have run all the virus, malware, and cleanup utilities requested by Bleeping Computers. This past sunday night (8/7/16), without any apps running, networx recorded in excess of 1gb use per hour. I have used windows resource monitor to find out that regsvc32 is sending and receiving the data. The only way for me to stop this hijacking is to shut down the computer or disable my network connection when not needed. I have attached the log file from FRST.

My os is Windows 10. The end of July 2016 I noticed my network bandwidth usage was up to 10 to 15 gigabytes per day. MY ISP bundle allocates 350 gigabytes per cycle (30 days). With 9 days remaining from this post my network bandwidth has used 293 gigabytes. Over the previous 3 months my average usage was 130 gigabytes ( I do watch Netflix and Youtude videos). Since I discovered the high usage I have run Advanced System Pro, , HitmanPro and Malwarebytes, many times. My daily usage has dropped to 4 to 7 gigabytes. I use Networx to track my bandwidth use. Under the Applications tab on Networx, Microsoft Register Server (regsvr32.exe) uses 80% and above of Network data, sent and received. Currently without running any applications at all regsvr32 is sending and receiving 300 to 500 mbs per hour. (I now disable my ethernet connection overnight, to save bandwidth).
Over the years I would leave my computer logged on to the Internet 24/7. In the past I observed that overnight usage of bandwidth would be only a few hundred KBs. Today its 300 to 500 MBs.
I have run windows defender since installing windows 10 last July 2015.
I have searched the internet for problems like mine and have finally found this forum.

When I run HitmanPro it reports a Trojan (?juesbgk) which it quarantines. (This is trojan.poweliks). Problem is every time run HitmanPro it reports the same trojan, over and over. I have also downloaded Symantics "FixPoweliks scanner. It reports NO trojan.powel... Read more

So sometimes when I notice my internet is ridiculously slow I check task manager and in the Performance tab it says my network usage is very high (in terms of my internet speed) even when I'm not doing anything. If I go into the processes tab and sort by network usage everything is ~0 Mbps.
Good thing is my motherboard LAN driver comes with the Killer Network Manager. Using this utility it shows me that Host Process for Windows Services (svchost.exe) is using up all my internet bandwidth. So it must be because of Windows Update or something else.

Fair enough, but why is it taking bandwidth priority over everything else? It's basically impossible to use the internet while Windows Update (or whatever else it is) is running, and it's even more ridiculous that Windows is hiding its network usage from Task Manager. I don't understand why in Windows 10, svchost gets priority over everything else, when Windows 7 actually allowed other applications to share the bandwidth with Windows Update. Even setting the priority to "low" in the Killer Network Manager does nothing to help, I have to manually limit its allowed bandwidth, which is not ideal because Windows Update should be running at full speed if nothing else is requiring internet.

Is there anything I can do other than having to keep monitoring and manually adjusting svchost's bandwidth allowance? Because it's plainly ridiculous that I have to even be asking this question.

Hi. I'm a new user to this site but I would appreciate some help in this matter.
(Also sorry, if I have posted in the wrong topic.)

Lately, I have had some very unusual high upload and download rates. I have a 120 GB bandwidth data pack with my internet provider but after a confirming phonecall, I have gone over this data. It's very unusual for this to happen.

What's more, using the Rainmeter network addon, I spot usage spikes of up to 1000 B/s for uploads and some download spikes of up to 800 B/s!

I've got Norton Internet Security Installed and MalwareBytes Pro and have run full system scans with both and nothing has been detected. I've also tried TDSS killer and that comes up with nothing too. I took further measures and installed Comodo Firewall and used NetLimiter but both have not been able to solve this problem. I have even closed all applications which may have been eating up my bandwidth but so far, it still spikes with nothing running. It also affects other devices connected on the network. I'v even run checks to find out if anyone is leeching off my modem but no one is. I monitored packets with Wireshark, but nothing but a few odd strands of TCP packets have occured and I don't know what to do with them.

And as of a few hours ago, I formatted my laptop to its factory settings and still nothing has changed. I still get the abnormal spikes.
I have also tried resetting the modem (its a wireless router) and have even left it off for... Read more

This may be in the wrong section. So, if an admin thinks so, please move it.

I run a small sized web server from my house. It is behind a router and thus I have it a dynamic hostname from dyndns.org. It has been up for almost a year and recently I have found that a spider/robot took up over 1GB of bandwidth in only 5 hits (I know this because I am using awstats). The spider is called 'CFNetwork'.

I have never had to deal with spiders before because my site does not appear in any search engine and does not have any meta data attached to it. I have searched google and have come up with nothing (other than CFNetwork is apparently a part of Apple's network framework). If anyone can lead me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have broadband, so I tend to use my cellphone as a portable WiFi hotspot, and let my laptop use it's data connection. This means that I tend to keep a close eye on how much data that it uses, and I've got a fairly good idea of what does what, and how much this or that use.

Yesterday, I had my laptop sitting, connected but not doing anything, and left it for a couple of hours. I know for a fact that it wasn't streaming anything, or downloading anything, or anything like that, and when I came back, I saw that it had chewed through over 2 gigs worth of data inside that time, which for what I was doing (almost nothing) should have been impossible.

Under WiFi Performance, in my task manger, I noticed that the the kbs per second was spiking as high as 7-8 mbs or more, and balancer, which I downloaded to try and control it (which was like banging my head against a brick wall, by the way) told me that my browser had as many as 30 different connections open at once, which seriously strikes me as iffy, to say the least.

Malwarebytes picked up nothing, when I scanned it, which is all the more frustrating. I was running Avast Antivirus, which I notices seemed to be doing something that it should, in terms of data sent/received as well, so I initially though that it might have been this causing the problem. I swapped that out, going back to AVG (which I changed out in the first place because of the way that watchdog sinks it's teeth into my external hard drive... Read more

I never had a problem with my bandwidth limit, always with around 15 gb extra by the month end. However this month and last month, I went over bandwidth limit. I checked my day to day usage, and it seems like my upload usage is insanely high, to a point where it reached 3GB on solely upload in two occasion. In the past, it was really rare for me to have over 1 gb upload usage [like 2 times a month], but for this month I have an average of over 1gb on upload usage. Even with the last couple days, I tried to limit my internet usage [only for msn and a bit of surfing] and my upload usage still reached to 1gb-2gb. I will admit I do download occasional[have stop for the last few days], but I don't use torrents, limewire, p2p or anything like. My sister has been streaming videos lately, but I don't think that should have affected upload usage(she stop in the past few day.

I scan my comp with Malwarebytes, and didn't detect anything. My computer is also protected by Nod32.
I started using AnalogX Netstat yesterday on my computer to track bandwidth usage, and received the following info: Yesterday I had an incoming total of 495.7 mb, with a 286.3 mb outgoing total. All I did yesterday was watching a 3-4 small youtube clips, and surf the web. Which I don't get why my outgoing total is so high. Even then, my computer wasn't the major contributor (there is 3 other computer in my household), as it states that yesterday we used upload usage of 1.747 GB, along wit... Read more

Hi, I'm having difficulties with my desktop in that I'm getting abnormal amounts of bandwidth usage (my internet has a bandwidth cap). Even when barely using the internet, I can get 1gb of bandwidth usage in an hour. I've downloaded NetWorx to track my bandwidth usage and noticed that my bandwidth can stay at a constant low rate and then suddenly spike up to like 25 mb/s for a couple of seconds. This seems to happen sometimes when I open FireFox or Skype, but not always so I'm not sure if its coincidence or not. I've ran Symantec Endpoint Antivirus, Malwarebytes, and Spybot S/D scans (I've ran them in normal mode as well as safe mode). These scans weren't able to pick up any problems at all. I've included a HiJackThis log and it would be great if someone could help sort out this problem. Thanks!

Answer:Svchost.exe bandwidth priority too high

It's not a CPU/memory usage issue, it's a bandwidth priority issue. I want Windows to auto-update, just let the web browsers have higher priority than Windows Update. Those "fixes" disable automatic updates.

Just a bit of theroy for this one.

I was thinking that if i had say 10x 24port 10/100 switches with two 1gig uplinks on each, and were then to connect these to a 10 port 1Gbps switch, if all 24 users were loading the switch at 100% it would become bottlenecked at the uplink to the 10 port switch. i was just wondering whats the usual approch to create links greater than 1gbps. i dont think uplinking the switch would work twice with out it being routable etc would it ? any ideas ?

some switches allow you to "bond" to uplinks, so using that with 2 1Gb/s links would give you 2Gb/s (theoretically speaking)... so then theoretically you would still be short, but only by 400Mb/sec.... they have 10Gb/s switches available now and have had them for a short period of time, but i think you'll see those in bigger enterprise/isp type environments since its is still very costly per port.....

Oh boy, was I hoping for a resolution to this. I am experiencing the same issues. Monthly usage normally peaks around 30G in a "busy" month. I/we don't download movies, music, watch you tube excessively etc. All of a sudden over the last 2 months, I am at 155G a month! Some days show 10G d/l. I have spoken with Bell and they say "it must be right" but clearly it is not. All computers were shut off and iphones disconnected from wifi. Over night, I apparently downloaded 9.2G.
As requested by Bell, I shut the modem off for 24hrs. Shows half a gig down. They have checked if the network is compromised (no), I'm not running anything other than browser and AVG.
Security on modem has been changed, network renamed and password changed. There are no files on my system downloaded overnight and I don't appear to be using any hard drive space.

I am both stumped and stymied, as are my good friends at Bell.

Suggestions?

Recently we have noticed our Windows Server 2008 is sending Tons and tons of data every day. Close to 200 GB a day. After researching I have identified System process is sending that data and we are unable to trace what exactly it is sending. After reviewing
Process Monitor, MS Network Monitor, TCP Log Viewer we have noticed System is sending bunch of packets non stop. This is really unusual. This is our web server and we never had this issue before. We have had this server for 2 years and never had this problem.
It is really frustrating and I cannot troubleshoot any further to understand what is going on. This is our Production server we cannot shut it off. Any help is highly appreciated.

OK, prior to this problem I'd visit certain forum and image sharing websites and usually have a few different tabs open, for different sections of the site or different topics. I like to multi-task.

Now all was fine for what seemed to be quite a long time, but then something changed.

What I'm finding is that when I'm visiting certain sites that were fine before, I'm now seeing very painful lag. If I'm typing a response to a post, it will start out fine, but then... the lag hits. I type and nothing happens. No control. Can't select text. No response to buttons. The browser activity icon is spinning. Then it "catches up" for a moment. Sometimes it's a quick catch up, other times things just go one character per second or even slower. A really prime example of horrible performance is PhotoBucket.com. I'd been using this photo sharing website for years, with no problems. But now... their interface becomes so slow, I've found I can't really use it effectively (I'm now using PostImg.org for hosting new image files). It seems like it is due to heavy ads with inefficient or high bandwidth scripting. That's just my guess.

With forum websites, I'm finding this tends to happen sooner if I have multiple tabs open on the site. If I reduce to one, it doesn't seem to be a problem, but then eventually happens. I will see in my browser status bar, references to all kinds of 3rd party sites. They look to be ad related sites. It's common for pages on the site ... Read more

I'm having a problem at the moment where intermittently pages seem to load very slowly. Often I'll click a link or type a url and nothing will happen for a few seconds, then when the page does load it takes another few seconds to actually build the page together and load all of the images. Ping has also produced pretty unreliable results: quite often i'll get 100% packet loss pinging various websites (even if the websites themselves actualy load, albeit slowly).

Although a few second page load time isn't exactly 'slow', the reason I feel like there is a problem is that i have reliable 10mb/s bandwidth (speedtest.net very rarely gives me anything significantly less). It seems as though once a download has 'got going' as such, it can move very quickly, but it just seems to take quite a while to work out what it's doing.

Running FF3 on Vista, behind a WRT54G router with DD-WRT.

Any tests I can do to try and narrow down what the problem is? 10 Meg internet isn't really quite the same when page general browsing takes the same amount of time.

Thanks guys

Answer:High bandwidth with really slow page loads

Okay, a bit more information, because I have no idea what's going on here.

How is it possible that, right this very second, i'm measuring a solid 9.8mb/s on speedtest.net, and yet youtube videos can scarcely download faster than they play?

I exceeded my Rogers bandwidth usage this month - first time.
On checking daily usage some days were over 5gb.
We do not appear to be using the internet any differently than usual.
Could my network have been compromised?
I installed Net Meter and Networx this weekend.
Usage reports show, for example
Sunday:
03 - 04am download 1.14gb upload 126mb
12:00 - 13:00 dl 9.69mb ul 450mb
21:00 - 22:00 dl 8.28mb ul 689 mb

One other pc has similar examples.

I have a home network.
dlink dir655 router.
1 wired pc 3 wireless pc
password protected

What can I do to check if my network has been compromised?
What steps should I take now just in case?

Any suggestions, advice well and truly welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

Suddenly, well last week or so like on here I just switching from "New Posts" to "Forum" and on other sites in general the loading of anything new takes soooo long. The little wheel in the tab on Google Chrome that is open that I'm currently using churns and churns for 5sec's. to sometimes the point I just give up and close the tab. I've checked in Task Manager but nothing shows as using an excessive amount of mem, cpu, Network, or Disk. I'm not really experienced at what I'm supposed to be looking for though. I've ran virus scanners, Mbam, AdwCleaner, CCleaner, etc. at nausium. I've tried Firefox w/a little improvement but it has it's issues too. By the way, how do I include a screen capture in this post/question??? I see no "Normal" tab, menue to do that. Why does one have to search like sherlock holmes to find simple commonly placed (on all other popular sites) choices for doing needed actions in a communication process? Woe, that's wierd! now it pops up, while I'm writing this question, "Additional Options" just below this window! See what I mean, It's driving me CRAyZZZYYYEEE!

One of my clients have reported Popups, we instructed how to removed, then they get a extreme high usage Bill 300% over. This afternoon we have tracked it down to one PC by installing a lightweight Network bandwidth which showed in a minute 20 MB downloaded and continues to go up. under task manager Found iexplorer.exe high memory usage. Ran Adwcleaner which found some PUP but same problem, malwarebytes same thing. booted to safe mode with networking same problem. Removed Internet explorer 11 from add and remove features, now instead of Iexplorer.exe is it under it is under Explorer.exe. If you try to close the problem process fixes the problem for few seconds but starts backup. We can gone through Auto runs (all tabs) nothings out of the ordinary, failing all this we have ran combofix on the infected computer this found MBR infection but unfortunately after a restart same problem. Tomorrow i will be clearing the java cache and running MBAM Rootkit tool time and access is not a luxury if we cant solve problem by afternoon we will have to reinstall makes this worse only access is remotely.

Any advise would be fantastic

Win 10 chrome v. 53 with KIS, all other extensions disabled, why is the browser upload bandwidth wildly high. windows update is disabled?

Answer:Win 10 chrome v. 53 wildly high data upload/sent bandwidth

Upload bandwidth has nothing to do with Win updates...those would be DLoad bandwidth...It's likely your PC has been compromised into a spambot rig...DLoad and run RUBotted.

Hi, my internet used to work fine. It's ADSL from New Zealand so it was never all that fast to begin with.

We have two computers that are connected 24/7. Me and my brother.

The issues started maybe 2 weeks ago. I was playing in a large battleground with 80 people in it which usually works fine. He starts up WoW and LAG. It's unplayable and I have to leave. The game itself outside of that one battleground worked fine with him playing.

We used to play WoW together all the time - it's a recent thing.

So I tried playing battlefield 2142 and it lagged to death too just from him having WoW open.

Even ventrilo lags to death. By lagging to death I mean completely unusable from lag.

How do I fix this? I can't find the problem.

Answer:My Internet Bandwidth is being drained - high latency / lag spikes

Can be dependent on a lot of factors.
Probably one of the first things you can try is to check the ping times / first hops on a traceroute, to see if it may depends on something changed on the ADSL / Telco part. So, from a Command Prompt you can run something like:
Code:
c:> tracert xxxxxx.yyy
Where xxxxxxx.yyy is the domain of your ISP.

Bye!

Currently we have about 30 machines that connect to our site over (2) 10Mbps lines.
I'm looking into getting a 3rd line but that is another issue.

Right now, all the clients connect to us strictly by IP address. We've had some issues in the past where our IP had to change and I want to never be caught in that situation again.

SO.. I want to try and move the sites to instead connect to us through a DNS subdomain IE wan1.company.com , wan2.company.com

The only issue I have is, I am worried that introducing a DNS scheme like this will add latency to the connection (some sites are oversees and this would be unacceptable)
Along with, what if the company, lets say godaddy, that is handling our DNS goes down or somehow becomes unresponsive. Are clients no longer able to connect?

Answer:Complex DNS question. Does DNS introduce latency in high bandwidth apps?

is the DNS server located on the same site as the other servers?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6965. It's probably about 5 years old I think. It runs Windows Vista 64 bit. Lately I've noticed that when I am either playing a multiplayer game online, trying to download a new game via steam, or playing Civ online multiplayer my computer will randomly disconnect from the wifi. I will be able to stay connected anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes and then it disconnects. I've tried all sorts of fixes. I've tried renewing the ip address, updating the wifi driver, powering on and off, turning firewall on and off, scanning for malware, using ccleaner. Well, some of that was for my PC being very sluggish. I bought the Witcher 2 on steam the other day and still haven't been able to download it. I would really appreciate any help. What information would you need?
Thanks in advance!

Recently I have been seeing 100% CPU and nearly the same Memory numbers when I am doing virtually nothing on my computer. I am also getting messages telling me to shut down programs because of the high memory usage...but I don't actually have much running. Additionally, when I try to restart the computer, I am often told that an app is running preventing the restart but I can not tell what app that is...Restart sometimes will work nevertheless, other times I have to manually shut the computer down and then manually start it up again. Also, sometimes after restart I am presented with two users to choose from, my regular user and a "user" that I have no idea what it is but it is called "postgres."

Also, though I do not know if this is related to this problem or not, I use Norton Internet Security, including its anti-spam program. I use it with Outlook 2013. Sometimes Norton fails to designate spam emails with its usual designation of "Norton Anti Spam." What is weird about this is that the problem turns up intermittently in that a group of emails will be properly marked...but 30 minutes later the next group won't be.

Thanks for your help, Ken

I receive the same alert from AVG whether I am using IExplorer, Firefox or Chrome. Also, in the task manager the CPU usage is sometimes almost 50% and it's always the internet browser I have open. Computer seems a bit sluggish. I have also been having trouble viewing videos on surfline.com (but not anywhere else). I am more than happy to delete any programs you think would be adding to the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Recently started having this problem, every web page I attempt to load takes forever! No other legitimate programs running using the internet. Answer:Extremely long webpage load times, High bandwidth usage? Virus?...Please Help!

I know it hasn't been 72hrs, but more symptoms have developed since I posted my log. They are as follows: Windows Media Center has ceased functioning, and my computer no longer recognizes my TV-tuner card. I get a message to install a "New High Definition Audio Device" upon startup, when no such new hardware device has been installed. Right clicking on anything causes Explorer to lock-up, but I can still use the Task Manager to end the Explorer task, and run Explorer.exe to restart it. Trend Micro will no longer start up, either through the startup process or by running the program. Here is a new HijackThis log file since these symptoms started:

I'm really frustrated. Help me PLEASE????

Been slow for quite some time, but lately I can't accomplish anything without multiple restarts and frozen screens. Several months ago I had to reinstall windows, and performance seemed to decline after that. Pulled up the task manager and noticed both cpu and memory were almost 100%... that cant be good, right?

Hey All, I'm not the best with Computer Hardware I guess you could say, however I've been noticing that my H30 is using a lot of RAM even if my computer is just running Chrome, Steam and at times TeamSpeak. Right now, I'm running those programs and Skype. Task Manager says that my Memory usage is at 61%, here is a screenshot of the Memory Tab in Task Manager. http://i.imgur.com/Phj2cnH.png As I say, I'm not the best with Computer hardware and all but, should the Memory Usage really be that high, just running such a small amount of programs, it increases a lot higher when I start playing games such as Red Orchastra 2 and Grand Theft Auto V. Does anyone have any information regarding this, or suggestions. Thanks,Ben

Answer:H30 - High Memory Usage High Constantly

Hey there. That is completely normal, the Windows OS does take up some memory. However, if you feel that the computer is slow or is laggy, you can upgrade your RAM. They are typically easy to upgrade and not too expensive.

Question: memory bandwidth

Well I finally bought a new computer for only the second time.My old one was a Netvista with 2.4 ghz p4,2 gb ram and a mx4000 8xagp card.

The new one I just bought is an Athlon 5400+ dual core with an nvidia 7050m-m motherboard,no graphics card yet,and 2 gb of ram (pc2-6400 ddr2)

What gets me is on almost every benchmark using sisoft Sandra it gets about 3x but memory bandwidth is low on the 5400 dual core,3.39 gb/s vs 4.2 gb/s with the old p4 netvista.Memory latency seems a little high on the new pc,about 127 ns.The old p4 it was around 99 ns.Do I need to do something with the ram in the new pc,add a second stick ( I thought it was dual channel but it has 2gb on one stick and the other slot is empty)?

Or maybe faster Ram? Or just dont worry about memory bandwidth? Graphics card ?Im just trying to figure things out so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello! I have been trying to find similar posts about this topic, and there seem to be many, but none that I could find that addressed the EZ variant of the sirefef trojan.
I have had this virus for a while, and kept thinking it was removed when warnings went away, but then it would seem to come back.
It is currently not redirecting me to other websites from searches, but has in the past. I want to try to remove this virus entirely so that my computer is safe again.
I just did an ESET online scan, and the sirefef.ez trojan in operating memory was the only infected file that came up.
My computer is a Windows Vista 64 bit operating system. My main anti-virus is Norton 360, which has detected this zeroaccess virus in the past, most likely related to the sirefef.

What would you suggest I do to safely remove the virus? ESET online had some file that claimed to fix things, but when I downloaded it, norton gave me a warning.

Thank you for any help, and my apologies if this was solved in another post!

My laptop suddenly had a popup that wanted me to ok it, said it was ieexplore.exe. I kept closing it and it kept popping back up. Tried killing the process, would pop right back up. Desktop icons were gone, couldn't open anything! Finally, I managed to get my browser open, and ran eset's online scanner. It found 3 things and deleted 2 of them. The third was "a variant of win32.olmasco.aa in operating memory" and it couldn't do anything with it. So I downloaded Spybot and ran it, it found a couple of cookies it didn't like. Then the popup went away. I ran eset again, and it didn't find anything. BUT, my desktop icons are still gone, except for spybot and the trash can, and a lot of programs in the start menu are missing (like accessories) and the ones that are there, if you click on them, it just says "empty". So I think the virus is still there. I found something online that says it will hide these things from you, so I am hoping they are still there. Please help![Moderator edit: Post moved to more appropriate forum. jgw]

I was doing some work the other day on my computer and clicked on an encyclopedia brittanica article. Next thing I knew I had tons of viruses and trojans (typical antivirus stuff where they offer you protection for money, all that). I've dealt with these before a bit on my own, so I messed around and fixed a few things. Specifically I went to this link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic346136.html
and followed everything from MBRCheck to Goored. Things were looking good as I got rid of a rootkit virus, but then SuperAntiSpyware told me I had a trojan variant of Win32/Kryptic in my operating memory, and GooredFix kept crashing before doing anything. So I'm stuck. Luckily Malware Bytes is up so it's blocking Google Redirect, which actually isn't attacking very often.

Some of the highlights of my various scans:
Malware Bytes keeps coming up clean (weird).
Hitman Pro keeps telling me that my internet is running on a proxy. It was saying I had a rootkit error and 6 unfixable trojans, but between eset and tdskiller these went away.
Eset fixed all that other stuff (got rid of two instances of win32/Antimalwaredoctor/ae/gen/application and got rid of two instances of Kryptic in other areas of my computer) but then told me that I had the one Kryptic trojan in me operating memory.

And I'll leave you with all that for now. Tell me what I should do from here if you can please!

Before we begin, you should disable your anti-malware softwares you have installed so they do not interfere RKill running as some anti-malware softwares detect RKill as malicious. Please refer to this page if you are not sure how.
Double-click on Rkill on your desktop to run it. (If you are using Windows Vista, please right-click on it and select Run As Administrator)
A black screen will appear and then disappear. Please do not worry, that is normal. This means that the tool has been successfully executed.
If nothing happens or if the tool does not run, please let me know in your next replyDo not reboot your computer after running rkill as the malware programs will start again. Or if rebooting is required run it again.^^If you get an alert that Rkill is "infected", ignore it. The alert is just a fake warning given by the rogue software which tries to terminate programs that try to remove it. If you see such a warning, leave the warning on the screen and then run Rkill again. By not closing the warning, this sometimes allows you to bypass the malware's attempt to protect itself so that Rkill can perform its routine. Hello,I was asked to start a new topic in order to employ more advanced tools to ensure my computer is clean. I have been working with Broni over the last couple of days to try and resolve an issue where my IE9 Browser redirects to other sites. So far, per instruction from Broni, I have run TFC, ADWcleaner, Junkware Removal Tool, ESET Online Scanner. Also updated Adobe Reader and Java while removing old versions of Java. So far the redirects have stopped, but during the ESET scan, the following message came up twice on two separate scans "Operating memory a variant of Win32/Boaxxe.AW trojan". ESET did discover a few other items and either quarantined or cleaned them with the exception of operating memory problem. I then ran TDSS Killer and no problems were reported. Detailed troubleshooting efforts can be found at the link below and I've attached the two files that were produced by the DDS Tool. Thanks for all of the help so far.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/497046/possible-google-redirect-virus/

Now my 3.2 SEVERLEY underscored... it got approx. 9k mb/s TERRIBLE as far as i am conserned... can anyone give me a reason why this would be any other specs that you may need i can provide.

Answer:Memory Bandwidth Problems!

ok i will check my bios. the make is corsair (thought was best lol). ok will check the site too. THANKS MAN FOR THE HELP!

I used sandra Lite XII to do this benchmark.
My system setup is:
P4 3.0ghz w/ HT
Foxconn 661FXMR-ES
2x512MB DDR400 Kingston ValueRAM memory (single channel)
160gb 7200rpm 8mb buffer WD 1600JB hard drive
ATI Radeon 9550 w/ latest drivers
Geniatech x8000a hdtv tuner
Creative Labs Live! 5.1 sound card

The benchmark i tested was "memory bandwidth"
I tested it two times and got
about the same 1MB (1000KB) per second bandwidth (around the same for integer and floating point tests).

Reference
It says my maximum bus bandwidth is 6400KB/s (6.4MB/s) and thus my efficiency is about 16%.
It suggests I check to make sure I have the correct memory timings, but I'm pretty sure I do. I used CPU-Z to check what the settings should be, and for the memory at 400mhz (2x200mhz) they should be 3-3-3-8.

I believe they are set to 3-3-3-6 and the system is perfectly stable.
I have a feeling my motherboard's memory controller is not working properly. I've tried running stress tests, and ones that use lots of memory fail eventually (prime95 for example). Ive run windows memory diagnostic from a bootcd, and doing the simple tests the memory passes, but doing extended tests I got hundreds of errors. I've tried testing the sticks separately and get errors for each, and the errors are not consistent which leads me to believe bad motherboard!

Thanks

Answer:memory bandwidth benchmark seems way too low!

ESET detected that I have this infiltration: Operating memory - a variant of Win32/Olmasco.O trojan - unable to clean.
I have tried some utilities, none of them was successfull (Trojanremover, MalwareBytes, Adaware, ...). I was not able run TDSSkiller (also in safe mode). Rkill doesn't help.
I have no serious symptoms of trojan. Only Internet explorer is taking more operating memory than is usually and ESET is reporting infiltration.

The above title says it all. Homefront I get 30 fps on absolute lowest settings (I refuse to set the resolution down from 1600by900 it's horrible below it). Most games run so so on medium settings getting like 30 fps but I noticed in Call of Duty 4 (a 4 year old game) that on the absolute lowest settings I get between 45-60 fps, on ultra from 20-35... I mean on lowest isn't it supposed to be 100 fps plus? Look at the benchmarks here

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 - Notebookcheck.net Tech

Have an Acer Aspire 7745G

1st gen i5 460M @2.53 Ghz

8gb ram

ati mobility radeon 5650 & Intel GMA HD (and use, its using the ati card NOT the GMA)

Windows 7 Home 64 bit

Please help. I know this isn't the best graphics card but its supposed to be a mid level graphics card and should at least run COD4 on ultra with 35 fps+ at all times.

Maybe something I should play round with in the Catalyst? I have all settings on factory defaults at the moment, latest drivers as well (Catalyst 11.12)

Edit: Something might be wrong with my computer. I tried to see how my GMA would respond, COD4 has fps of 5 on lowest settings, counter strike source has 15 on lowest settings and a few months ago when I last checked it had 70+fps on CSS... so something might be affecting both cards, in windows 7 control panel I have it set on full performance though...

Answer:ATI Radeon 5650 Low FPS and high MS

Who's to say its your graphics card? Lack or ram or under powered cpu can cause low FPS.
Your computer is only as powerful as the slowest component.

It could well be your GPU but you could have had a ram stick die, and or windows updates now require more system resources so hence its struggling.

Hello, I'm running a 64 bit Windows 10 laptop. On idle, the System process is showing a high memory usage of more than 150 MB, usually more than 200 MB. Using poolmon the pooltag SpDN showed up with a memory leak. It leads to the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver, iaStorV.sys. How should I go about fixing the problem?

Answer:High memory usage / Memory leak caused by Intel driver

Hi,

Since this is a Intel driver I doubt the WDK can fix it.
You may try to see if there's a more current version of Intel's RST available for download and see if that fixes the leakage issue.

Cheers,

Hi,

I am helping my parents troubleshoot their computers. My feeling is that they are both infected with the same virus/trojan but I can find it or figure out what is going on.

The each have identical laptops and both are experience identical problems. Both are running Avast! and both systems are not turning up any discovered viruses or trojans during scans. I am on the verge of completely refronting both of their laptops and am really hoping I can avoid having to do that. I suspected that maybe they were both infected with "poweliks" but the below FRST shows (at least I think so) that neither are infected with that trojan. I am now thinking its a memory leak on some recent driver/app update - but either trojan or memory leak, I am not finding it.

Symptoms:
After a clean reboot, within 24 to 48 hours both systems begin to get very sluggish, both audio and video starts to skip and lag, both mice bounce around like crazy when trying to move the pointer. After about 72 hours the laptops simply freeze to the point that they have to pull the batteries to get them to shut off.

I had my Dad run FRST on his computer, below are the results:

It seems that I've been getting low memory issues ever since upgrading to Win10, but I'm not 100% certain if thats the issue. I thought about uprading to 16gb ram, but I'd like to know if theres some other fix for this. I can't multitask as I used to be able to. Sometimes problems occur just running 8 tabs on chrome and a game(Blade and Soul). The numbers just don't seem to add up.

Answer:High Memory Usage/ Low Memory Popup on Win10 8gb Laptop

Hello svader55 Welcome to the Ten Forums!

On the first impression I would have to suspect the problem is with the upgrade itself where you might end needing to see a Clean Install of 10. First however you can try a few things out to see if this is only a minor glitch. On an older 7 model by HP the upgrade seen last summer was a disaster waiting to happen which I had enticipated and saw an immediate clean install to follow! Of after going from the 32bit 7 Home Premium to 10 Home x86 I subsequently changed that with a second fresh install the 64bit Windows.

The initial tool would be the System File Checker you would run from the Command prompt(admin) option when right clicking on the Start button. You simply scroll down to that option to see the new window open up. At the dos like prompt you then simply type in "sfc /scannow" and press enter to get the tool underway.

The tool will then scan all the important system files and if finding one or more corrupt or missing will often be able to replace them but not all unfortunately from cab files tucked away on the local drive. With previous versions the rec for having the Windows dvd in the driver was made in case the SFC had to extract something from the Windows media there if the problem was more involved. This is why the suggestion for the possible need to see a fresh clean install of 10 is being made here.

Unfortunately buggy upgrades are all too common regardless of which version is being upgraded over. But you li... Read more

Brother Geeks,

There are vague hints on this matter scattered around the web, and I'm hoping someone here can help me nail it down. I recently put 1 512MB stick of Corsair VS512MB400C3 RAM in an Asrock P4VT8+ motherboard, ran SiSoft SANDRA's memory bandwidth benchmark, got a quite respectable score, and promptly bought another VS512MB400C3 DIMM -- exactly the same thing. When I placed the new DIMM in its slot, the SANDRA benchmark number was cut in half. I've arranged the DIMMs in every permutation possible on a 3-slot MoBo, changed the DRAM frequency to all three speeds available (DDR 266, 333, 400) in my BIOS, and the SANDRA score does not vary. Does it somehow involve dual channel memory (I'm not even really sure my MoBo has it) not functioning properly with fewer than 3 DIMMs? Is there anything I can do other than eat the cost of the 2 Corsair sticks and replace them with a 1 gig DIMM? Some tweak I might be missing in the BIOS? Am I screwed? I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks to all who read this.

System Specs:

Asrock P4VT8+ Motherboard
P4 2.80c GHz CPU
2x512MB Corsair VS512MB400C3 RAM
ATI Radeon 9600XT AGP Video
WinXP Pro SP1
Maxtor 5T030H3 30GB Hard Drive (boot)
Seagate Barracuda ATA IV ST380021A 80 GB Hard Drive (storage)
MSI CR52-M CD-RW

Answer:Memory Bandwidth Halved w/2nd DIMM

I don't believe your system has dual channel. No mobo with dual channel will have an odd number of memory slots. It would make no sense.

I've never used the VIA P4 chipset, nor have I ever used any Asrock products, but I suspect that's where the problem is. Really, you paid good money for a slew of great products (processor, RAM, vid card)... and you're hooking them up to a pretty mediocre quality motherboard. IMX, you should never use a non-Intel chipset, especially if you're running a Pentium instead of a Celeron. It's just a waste of money.

If it were me, I'd invest in an Intel-based solution. Preferably, the much lauded ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe. Failing that, you should try to get an i875 board from Intel, Asus, or Gigabyte. Trust me, you will not be dissatisfied. That board *does* have dual channel, so you'll reap the benefits of doubling your effective bandwidth.

Hi. Is there a performance counter that indicates how much of the memory bandwidth is being used? For example, the CPU to RAM bandwidth might be on the order of 100 GB/sec. I would like to know if SQL Server or it's hyper-v VM is saturating
the memory bandwidth. I'm not interested in disk or paging counters. Perhaps there is a CPU counter for this? I see several CPU and Hyper-V CPU counters, but I do not know what most mean.

Hi,

I started up my desktop today, to be notified by ESET NOD32 Antivirus 8 (legitimate paid version) that I have a trojan.

Doing a smart scan did not remove it.

I also found this topic on the matter on this very forum: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/579945/infected-with-a-variant-of-msilinjectoryt-trojan/
It seems that particular user also only recently have gotten this malware.
The start post's date is June 19th 2015.
Also, check ESET Virus Radar: http://www.virusradar.com/en/MSIL_Injector.YT/chart/historyIt's trending worldwide!
Is this normal behaviour, that trend?

edit1: Here another report in Swedish: http://www.sweclockers.com/forum/trad/1374364-msil-injector-yt-trojan
Note the date of the start post June 20th 2015.
Wtf is going on, widespread infection?!
Also ran the latest updated Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home.It did not detect anything.

For the time being the desktop I removed the ethernet cable of said desktop.

Kind regards,

Hi,I'm in need of some help please!I have somehow managed to pickup a Trojan virus.NOD32 discovers it during its start-up scan and cannot get rid of it.Error reads something along the lines of:"Threat found in memory - operating memory > explorer.exe - variant of win32/gataka.A trojan - unable to clean"My system is now noticeably slower, especially when browsing webpages and the opening of windows explorer etc.I have tried booting to safe mode and running a scan there, but it doesn't get rid of it.MBAM doesn't help either.I have attached the requested GMER log however cannot get DDS to run for some reason (just sits there and does nothing).Hopefully someone can still help me!Cheers

Hi,

I'm in need of some help please!

I have somehow managed to pickup a Trojan virus.

NOD32 discovers it during its start-up scan and cannot get rid of it.

Error reads something along the lines of:

"Threat found in memory - operating memory > explorer.exe - variant of win32/gataka.A trojan - unable to clean"

My system is now noticeably slower, especially when browsing webpages and the opening of windows explorer etc.

I have tried booting to safe mode and running a scan there, but it doesn't get rid of it.

MBAM doesn't help either.

I have attached the requested GMER log however cannot get DDS to run for some reason (just sits there and does nothing).

Hopefully someone can still help me!

Cheers
