Email queue not deleting undeliverable emails + MS Support Incident

Question: Email queue not deleting undeliverable emails + MS Support Incident

Our email has a queue system that splits email as 1 (priority), 5 (medium), 10 (bulk). Problem is, a lot of clients put down fake emails/names that have no destination. We set it up as after 24 hours, the email should be deleted. Problem is, it stops trying to send the emails after 24 hours but they still remain in the queue, overflowing the damn thing with tens/hundreds of gigs. After scouring the internet for more info (and failing), I figured that either two things can happen:

- I post on forums asking for more help
- I post on forums asking for the Microsoft Support Incident and how the process works (can this be part of the technet package?)

Help?

EDIT: We are using MS SMTP Server on Server 03 and 08

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

This issue has been happening for over 2 years, Godaddy can't help so I thought asking other members for help.

It seems every few days I lose emails, I also spent $80 last-year for Unlimited emails but nothing changes.

The first Month it happened I connected Thunderbird and Godaddy reset the servers and all my emails appeared again. Its a endless battle and the topper was my Unlimited service expired so they closed my email address.

I currently have 5000 emails in my Thunderbird program but 38 emails when logged into the Godaddy client? The funny thing my sent emails don't get deleted have everything from 2011.

Thunderbird downloads everything automatically and doesn't delete a thing.

Hoping a few members can help me.

On my blackberry I had before the lumia, the email app would keep every email from when I activated the phone. My lumia 635, I've noticed, automatically discards emails from 5 days ago. Is there anyway to keep the app from doing that? I like to have all my emails readily available right on my phone instead of logging on from a pc to check older emails. I've looked under the email app settings and there's no option to adjust when emails are discarded. Thanks in advance!

Until recently when I received an email informing me that a message (email) that I sent was undeliverable the message showed the name and or email address of the person to whom the message could not be delivered. Now all I get is a notification that the email was undeliverable with a strange curled red arrow inside it with no notification of the intended recipient's email address or other details so I can identify the intended recipient. This only stated occurring when I upgraded to Windows 10.

For the past few days I have received about two dozen notifications of undeliverable emails which I have not sent. They all seem to be associated with my personal web site. I used to have my contact email address on the web site but I have now removed it. Can anyone suggext what I can do .

Answer:undeliverable emails which I haven't sent

Sounds like your e-mail address has been cloned for spam purposes. Don`t think there`s much you can do about that. If you need your e-mail address on your website put it there as an image not text. This should prevent bot`s being able to harvest it for malicious purposes.

I never sent these emails but continue to get 300-500 undeliverable email reports from microsoft outlook daily. Such a pain deleting all these and they just continue to be sent to me constantly. HELP me resolve this insanity PLEASE........

Answer:getting 100's of undeliverable emails from outlook

If you didn't send the original emails then your email account has been hacked or compromised in some way and it is being used to send spam. The first thing to do is to change the password on your email account - It would also be a good idea to contact your email provider because your account will soon be flagged up by their systems and it will probably be blocked so if you get their assistance sooner rather than later you will have less of a problem."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." I have Outlook for my email. I am having trouble sending email. The email is kicked back to my inbox with the message 'your message did not reach some or all of the recipients.' 550 recipient rejected: relay not allowed.

Then the send/receive progress window shows 'sending and receiving error Ox800CCC92.

I think this is where the problem is. Under tools/email accounts window, the logon information box refuses to hold the password. I check the password field later and the box is empty. How do I fix this?

I would like to see a HijackThis scan log run BEFORE you run option 2 of the SmitfraudFix and then one run after please.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

I have an hp deskjet 3320. It shows 1 document in queue that I cannot get to delete. The status shows deleting- paused- printing, but I don't have it paused. Cancelling won't work. If I have 5 documents in queue, I can get them all to delete but the one at the top of the list. I have even tried uninstalling the printer software and reinstalling. I cannot use the printer when this happens and I can't put my computer on standby when this happens. It says to stop the printer spool, and I can't figure how to do that. unplugging the printer has helped, but I can't unplug the printer every time this happens, which is alot. please help.

Answer:printer-deleting document in queue

Sounds like your print spooler is hanging. To restart a print spooler on Windows 2000 or XP, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Scroll through the list until you find Print Spooler, right click it, and choose restart from the resulting menu.To restart a print spooler on Windows 3.x, 95 or 98, reboot. You may want to try to uninstall your printer drivers and reinstall them, ensuring you use the latest drivers from HP's site. If this does not solve your problem you are into the repair the OS, repair the printer, areas.

This is a long-standing and trivial but irritating issue. From time to time I send a file to the printer and then immediately realise that I need to alter something (date, etc.). I remove the paper tray so the printer doesn't print and then open the printer dialog which includes 'Cancel all...'. Nothing happens for a long time and I often just have to reboot before I get the file/document removed from the print queue. How can I close the printer and empty the buffer? I use XP but had this with W98 before.

Answer:Deleting files in printer queue

Start/settings/printer then highlight the document and click Document/Cancel works if the document is still in the queue.Otherwise, switch the printer off line (not power off) and wait for the error message telling you there's a problem, which then gives you the option to Cancel. That works with the two printers I have, without much delay other than about 15 seconds before the error message comes up.

Answer:undeliverable email

400 error messages are non-fatal -- usually, your server will try to send it again after a certain period. Normally, a 451 4.1.8 non-delivery receipt message means the domain of the server you are trying to send to can't be resolved -- there is a DNS issue somewhere that is not resolving their email server address, their mailserver is down, or you mistyped the email address.

Your server is showing up as the one generating the message because it was informed the email couldn't be delivered.

Go to https://www.whatsmydns.net/, type in the ABCU.edu domain name (I realize that's a placeholder, so type in the real one), in the dropdown menu, select MX record, and click Search. If it fails to resolve, the issue is on their end.

If you have your own DNS server on premise, make sure the static records are entered correctly, and that any external DNS servers you are using for name resolution are up and running.

Within the last four days we are unable to deliverable email messages to our brother. We use Win 8.1 Pro and Vipre. The error message we get is:
>>>"his email address" (after RCPT TO): 553 your IP (69.168.102.197) is on our block list. Visit http://www.linuxmagic.com/power_of_ip_reputation.html for more information

If we try to go to the linuxmagic web site we get blocked by Vipre. If we paste the address in FireFox we have no problem going to the site. It then says the the IP 69.168.102.197 is on their list of RATS malware.

We have run a complete scan of both our computers using Vipre and Malwarebytes clearing out many possible unwanted programs. We then try sending a test email which still fails.

Our question. Is that ip address ours or the brothers. If it is ours how can we change it?

Thank you so much for any suggestions or help.

Answer:Undeliverable Email Message

IP Lookup: http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup (Yours will show up automatically when you click on that link)

69.168.102.197 looks like it is listed as being in Buffalo NY and is 'Likely Mail Server': http://whatismyipaddress.com/mail-server which I would think means that it is probably not either of your IPs.

It looks like the server you or your brother is using is blacklisted on a few databases: Enter the IP in the search function here: https://www.ultratools.com/tools/spamDBLookupResult

There's a lot of info out there on how your mail server winds up blacklisted. Here's one: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/mailserver-blacklisted-36688.html

So we just recently migrated to an in-house email solution using Exchange 2007 and an Ironport C150 for our edge spam/av device. For the most part everything seems to be going fine however there are a number of recipients that when we try to send email to we get a bounceback that looks like this:

[email protected]
[167.xxx.xxx.xxx] #<[167.xxx.xxx.xxx] #5.0.0 smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 572-'[email protected] host name is unknown' (delivery attempts: 0)> #SMTP#

Being fairly new to exchange and email I'm not sure why this is happening. I've verified our DNS and MX records, checked our reverse DNS entries, etc. It looks like it's being rejected from the other side but I don't know why. Google has been of surprisingly little help so hopefully a [H] expert can help me out.

Answer:Undeliverable email Outlook 2003

Looks like it is being blocked by either your ISP or the server if you are in a corporate environment. Change the type of file you are sending (lots of pictures, don't send the pictures, lots of hyperlinks, remove the links, etc).

Nothing you can do in outlook, if you are at work talk to your IT department and they can whitelist the email and its content, if you are at home call your ISP.

ps - don't use a color that is incredibly difficult to read next time

We cannot send emails. We host our own email and for some unknown reason all the mails that we sent are stuck in Exchange's Queue. I found that our Reverse DNS is incorrect, it's pointing to a different IP. Can that be a reason of our email issue? I'm still waiting for a reply from our domain host about correcting the IP.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Reverse DNS is incorrect... a reason why emails are stuck on Queue?

Well its a problem, it wouldn't stop mails from being sent. It just increases the chances they'd be rejected. Depending on whether the server your talking to checks for it

So yeah check reverse DNS, check the MX records, make sure you have a postmaster and abuse address.

Check its not on a blacklist http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

Check for Open Relay.

If you're using a Smarthost check the SMTP connector.

If the you post the domain name I can do a full external check.

Like I said it shouldn't stop the mails being sent. So some others things to try

Check the logs see whats there, might be worth turning on SMTP logging also, checking DNS and doing a DCDiag and NetDiag. Make sure you can telnet out to other mail servers.

I know how to check single email addresses to if it comes back undeliverable. I have a list of email addresses from people who subscribe to my website but I would like to process them all and see if they are still active or come back undeliverable to clean up the database. Dose anyone know of a tool that will do this or an easy way to do it.

Answer:Checking hundreds of email addresses to see if they come back undeliverable?

no clue on how to do that. it seems like an expereinced spammer might now.

i dont know how you could send out hundred of emails other than CC them or having a mailing list program.

although, even if you do managed to send out all the emails, you might get undelieverable for emails accounts but you might not get anything back from legit emails where users dont check it anymore. i know that spammers often insert a 1 pixel x1 pixel transparent gif so that if the user clicks on the email, it wiill download the image from a server and log the request. so that would mean the account is active.

This is some software we have been looking for, not sure if i am even looking in the correct place or calling it what it is. We have 12 sales people and everyone has there own email. We have an info and and a sales address as well.

What we are wondering, if there is a package that sends all mail into a queue or list and waits for someone to take responsibility for the email and handles it. If all mail would go into one queue waiting for someone to take it. Once someone decided to work on that specific email, it would then be removed from the queue so someone else wouldn't also start working on it. Once someone took the email, that job would be assigned to that person. Presently we have 3-4 people looking at the sales and info emails but have to check with each other to make sure someone is handling it and not more than one person is.

Does anyone know of any software that might handle this, or if I am explaining it clearly

Thanks
Richard

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

Answer:Outlook Email - Deleting Wrong Email Entry when starting new email

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

That's it.

She has no problem to send and receive emails through the exchange server except when she sends an email to this address ([email protected] ,I made it up)!!!!!!

The message stays in the exchange’s queue and it won’t be delivered to the nominated address, with the below error :

451 4.4.0 Primary Target IP address responded 421 4.2.1 unable to connect.Click to expand...

I couldn’t test a different email address on this domain (abc.com.ih), because I don’t have other than paul

If her email on the exchange server has a problem it shouldn't be able to send emails to all domains from the first place

I tried to flush DNS on the client’s exchange server but no joy

What I did as a troubleshoot I sent an email to : ([email protected]) from our work exchange server 2007 installed on SBS 2008 (i.e. different exchange but almost has same setting as the client) the email went through and the recipient replied me to confirm that he received my email.

Regards

Any filtering or SPAM gateways on this particular domain? What is the real external email domain because it might be blacklisted somewhere.

Hi all, I promise I've tried to research this problem a lot but still haven't found anything that works. I'm running Windows 8.1 and I'm trying to print from a network printer. One job is clogging the rest of the jobs and is stuck on "deleting" but won't ever get deleted. Others on the network are still able to print from the printer. So far I've tried:
Clicking on "cancel" in the job queueRestarting the computerRestarting the printerRemoving/re-adding the printer from Printers and DevicesUninstalling and reinstalling the driversStopping/Restarting the Spool service in Task managerLooking for the files found in /System32/spool/PRINTERS

The weird thing, actually, is that there was no folder "PRINTERS" when I go to /System32/spool. I know that deleting the files in there often fixes the problem, but I can't even find a PRINTERS folder. Maybe that's related. Let me know if any of you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Answer:Print queue won't remove a job that's "deleting"

Hi ryanarvid and welcome to the forum! This almost sounds like a communication problem. How are you connected, wired or wireless? Is the computer and printer seeing each other?

Answer:winxp/print queue/can't clear queue

Which printer do you have, someone will advise on correct setup? Also do you mean the print Icon from within an application was pressed before the printer was installed? If so when the message comes on-screen, do you have the option to expand it, or click on "File" or similar to end the print queue? j.

Hello!
Thanks in Advance for anyone who can shed light on this for me. I have had a few emails recently that have "bounced" back as undeliverable that I didn't write/send. I think I read that this could be a worm/virus that is sending out emails using my email address. I typically do not download attachments, and never download them from an unknown source or without scanning for a virus. All of my software for viruses is up to date.
I am copy/pasting the email below. Can someone let me know if you can tell which virus/worm/whatever I may have and let me know what to do to remove.
Stacey

Question: Deleting emails

Although I regularly delete unwanted emails and ry to maintain a clean Inbox I keep getting messages from my IDSP (onetel) sating that my mailbox is 80% full and I should delete further messages. Of course I also delete stuff from Sent and Deleted folders, but I still get ISP messages telling me to get rid of stuff. I then checked my email folder on the Internet, and discovered all the emails that I thought I had deleted sitting there as bright as day. How is this possible? I realize I can delete them from the mailzone on the Internet, but it is very time-consuming as well as frustrating. Can anyone tell me what, if anything I am doing wrong? Thank-you.

Answer:Deleting emails

I do not know how your ISP works things but it could be the web mail part of your facility also needs clearing down. It is also possible that your e-mail (is it Outlook express?) has been set up to save a copy on the ISP server. they will not like that. Have a look in your settings to see.

Can anyone please help! Only recently, my PC is deleting emails by itself, once they have been read! It does not matter if it is in the inbox or whether it has automatically been mnoved to a folder. However it does not go the deleted items folder but just disappears.Regards

Answer:Emails Deleting Themselves

I had this problem too - they'd disappear as I was reading them, then I discovered that somehow I'd managed to copy the Inbox as a sub folder to somewhere else. Send yourelf an email, then when it's vanished, use the search facility to see if it turns up elsewhere!Just a thought, and if it's wrong, I'm sure someone else will be able to help.

Question: deleting emails

I am using Vista Home Premium 32 bit - when I click on an email to read in the preview pane it opens up the email - this does not happen every time. The other problem is that when i delete an email the next email is deleted also - again does not happen every time. Obviously not life threatening - just annoying. Hopefully this is not a virus?

Answer:deleting emails

Hello, and welcome to the Vista Forums!

I do not mean to be rude here in any way. We just have to check every aspect, as somebody somewhere has made every mistake possible! Are you single or double clicking on the Delete button? The delete button should be SINGLE clicked. If you double click on it, it can have this sporadic effect.

Thanks!

All of a sudden, when i open WLM all the emails in my inbox, sent, deleted and other folders i have created are deleted. Instead WLM loads 819 'unread feeds' from Microsoft, NHS Choices and Mahmood Al Quadsi???

Luckily i back up but if i manage to replace the newly-created store folder with the back up files WLM just obliterates them again. If i remove the storage folder and then open WLM, much the same happens except that WLM creates a new folder with the following structure and some flies/folders in blue??

And my email account window is now empty.

Can anyone please help?

No.
Not unless you can get to their computer and erase it before they read it.

If I want to delete a suspicious email how do I do it without opening it because as sonn as I select it the little envelope opens. Does that mean that the email is open or not. Sorry for being so thick but I am worried about these viruses.I have got AVG installed by the way and I am running XP Home

Answer:Deleting EMails

I assume you are using Outlook Express. the envelope icon just indicates if you have read it or not. Closed means unread and open means read. Now if you single click on an e-mail does it open in a window? Or do you have to double click to open in a new Window?Make sure Preview pane is OFF. Question: deleting emails

I am very concerned about my email/broadband provider. I asked them to transfer my emails to xp mail. Everything was going ok. Then when I bought a new laptop. The mail did not appear on Windows 7 mail so I asked why this was not shown on Windows 7 mail. Only some emails were transferred whereas all should appear in either. Today all my emails from XP have been deleted by my provider. Is this allowed. I have had emails with other providers and this sort of thing has never happened. Please help. Liza

Answer:deleting emails

I don't know if this will help you but have a read here enter link description here
Did you have your email program set up to leave mail on the Server and for how long? Maybe this is the reason you have only got some emails - maybe they were the only ones left on your Server - I may be entirely wrong in my assumption of course.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop (using Windows 7) which has recently developed an odd fault. When I click on a specific email in order to delete it, the email below it will also be deleted at the same time. Also, when clicking on an email to open it, it will often keep opening it without actually displaying it on the screen, rather it just minimises them at the bottom. I have searched through the computer settings to see if I might have accidentally changed something to cause these problems but have found nothing. Can you help me sort this out, as it is time-consuming and frustrating to deal with! Thanks.

Hi Guys,

first post, I have tried searching to find a solution to this problem, but couldn't find anything.

Basically one of the guys at work here is having trouble with his Outlook deleting random(well not entirely but will get to that) emails.

this is the situation, he checks his email on his iphone, or webmail and there are emails there. (doesnt matter if he reads them or just sees the headers) he then gets to work opens outlook and they are not there. In terms of what emails aren't coming through seems to be random senders, but all of the senders emails.

We can see the emails in "recover deleted items" but once they are recovered they just get instant deleted again (you dont even see them in the inbox).

he is on windows 7 and we are using outlook 2007.
not sure what exchange server we are running, if its relevant let me know and ill work it out.
thanks.

Answer:Deleting unopened emails

First of all turn off, and keep off, the "Preview Pane" by going to View/Layout and untick the "show preview pane".Now when you left click a mail it will be highlighted but not opened. To delete a message left click on it and click on Red cross to delete it.You have to double left click messages to open them with the preview pane unticked, which means you won't open a message before you delete it.Hope this helps,Regards,Sapins.

hi i have dell notebook running XP home/office XP networked (wireless) to to a PC also running XP home/Office XP and i use synctoy loaded onto the notebook to sync outlook emails between the two.however syntoy seems to be deleting some emails from the inbox every now and again, some of the emails i can retreive from the deleted pst file in the recycle bin but not all, it's a real pain!anyone got any suggestions or know of a better sync. app?thanks

Answer:synctoy deleting emails

Looking at it from a different direction, I use the same set up as you (inc SyncToy) but leave emails on the servers so both machines get their own copies via their own Outlooks. It does mean that every so often I have to manually empty the server inboxes. I really use SyncToy for folders sync'd between the 2 and an external drive. There may be a better application that can handle the process with emails but you may have to pay for it.

hello,

It seems that outlook will pop up a warning box only when permanently deleting emails, if I just delete a email in inbox, there are no any reminding for me . But as I have a lot of folders in outlook, it will be so much trouble to me if I delete or move a email by mistake, and want to find it back.

So can I get a reminding even when deleting or moving emails in Outlook? That will be good to me. Thanks.

By the way, I'm using outlook2010.

Hi Tech Support Guy

I cannot delete anything from anywhere in my Outlook Express a/c.
'Rollin_again' had some very good advice & I followed all of it but still can't delete any messages from any folder within O/E.
I can move the e's from one folder to another & I can delete them by closing O/E, finding the DBX files & deleting those.
Maybe that's the best I can hope for ?

Thx

I have windows 7 and am using Windows Live Mail on my HP Pavilion g7 laptop. Every now and then a message that goes to my sent file cannot be deleted. For many of these messages, the original body of the communication is no longer displayed. What I see when I click on it is the wording:

Message cannot be found
The contents of this message cannot be found.

Some of the emails however, still have the original body of the message. In both cases, when I click on delete, either from the pop up list or from the delete symbol in the top menu bar I get a single beep and the message: "An unknown error has occurred."

This has been going on for several years and I have contacted the Microsoft people to assist with this, but they have been unable to help me delete these messages. As of this writing I have a total of 86 of these messages I cannot delete. There seems to be no pattern to what will delete and will not re the people I have sent the messages to. This is not something that is causing any slow operation or other problems, but I sure would like to know how to get rid of these emails so I can keep this box cleared out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Deleting Emails (Maintenance) In Thunderbird

Can you not just highlight the messages you want to remove and press "Delete" on your keyboard? If this moves them to a Deleted Messages folder, use Shift+Delete to delete them directly.

My sister?s ISP is Blue Yonder (now taken over by Virgin)& she has cable broadband. She reads her emails in OE (her OS is XP). Before Virgin took over, any emails that she had downloaded were deleted from the server ? and that?s how she wanted things to be. But now they are all left there. I suggested maybe she had ticked by mistake ?leave a copy on the server?, but she hasn?t.Are there any Virgin users out there who know how to make emails vanish from the server when they?ve been downloaded?

Answer:deleting emails from Virgin server

Has her email account been set up as IMAP in OE? Clue is if the incoming mail server in the Account settings is IMAP.XXXXX where XXXXX is the mail server id e.g imap.viginmedia.com. Should be set as POP account if she wants the emails deleted from the server when they are downloaded into OE. Think she would need to delete and reset up the account to make a POP but as emails are all still on the server they should download to the new account when set up.

example i use folders - i've merged 2 years and now some of the folders i've deleted have reappeared - it has caused problems because at the same time i apparently deleted some real folders when i thought they were ghostt. we use google mail and then put it through outlook. they mails aren't in my gmail account only outlook...even when i rename them and move them to another folder they reappear.

Answer:why are emails i'm deleting in outlook reappearing

I would usually say that you do not have outlook set to delete them off the server after downloading them but later you say they are not still on Google mail. This is perplexing but just in case, see settings in Outlook and make sure it is set to delete mail off server after downloading. Also clean out trash/deleted item folder in Outlook, Recycle Bin in Windows, and run Disk Clean Up. Then restart the machine. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Answer:Can I retrieve emails after deleting Outlook

I doubt they will still be there, or accessable to be honest - once you delete Office I think it removes all the folders.

Hi
I have recently had a complete computer crash and had to reinstall my programs/files etc.
Since I reinstalled office I have this problem with outlook. i have an exchange account. Prior to this outlook and my iphone reflected the information on the exchange server, so if I read and deleted an email from either my pc or iphone it deleted it from both. Now, however, if I delete from outlook, it doesn't delete from the server so it still shows on my iphone. Deleting from my iphone still has the desited effect of deleting from the server and hence outlook.
Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?
Thanks
Ian
