Need Wireless N Router to work with Belkin F5D5231-4 Router

Question: Need Wireless N Router to work with Belkin F5D5231-4 Router

Currently have a Belkin F5D5231-4 Router & a Hawking Wireless G router. I'm looking to replace the Hawking Wireless G with a Wireless N router. I bought a Belkin N150 wireless router, but I can't get it to work with my Belkin Router. With the Hawking, it didn't matter if the Hawking was first off of the Modem or the Belkin, they both worked. Now with the Belkin N150, only one will work. I can't get them both to work. Any advice on getting them both to work or a Wireless N router that will?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Belkin router F5D7230-4 and PCs running XP / XP pro. It connects fine with ethernet cables but will not see the wireless. The wireless card in the PC finds other wireless routers but not my router.I've reset the factory settings and refreshed the software, no change. The wireless is shown as being enabled on the Belkin panel.

Answer:Belkin router won't work on wireless

When enabling "wireless" in a router, there is usually the option to select "B", "G" or "B&G", try both the "G" and the "B&G" settings (B being 802.11b and G being 802.11g).Also ensure that the router is set to broadcast its SSID.

I had my computer wired right to the internet, then my girlfriend got a laptop, so I went and got a wireless router(netgear wgr614) and set it up and figured why not make my desktop wireless so I got a cheap belkin usb network adapter and had it running for lamost a year and a half now.

well the router stopped working so I went and got a d link 2310 wireless router. got the laptop on it no problem. but cant get the belkin to work. it finds the network, logs onto the router, but NEVER gets the internet. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the software for it as well with no luck. could it be the usb adapter? wy would it work with netgear and not with d link???

and I know it is not a range problem because my pc is in the same rom as the router and about 9-10 feet between antennas. I dont wanna just go out and buy a dlin adapter and have it not work either.

Answer:Belkin wireless usb adapter won't work with d link router?

dont know why I didnt try this out before, but if I login to the router and get rid of any security, then my desktop get srigh ton and gets the internet, but wih security enabled, it will only log on to the router, and not access the internet....

any ideas?

Hello,

I've been trying to get my Speedstream 5100 (A?) modem, running SBC DSL, to work with a Belkin wireless g router I just bought. The DSL is connecting through PPPoE/Enternet 300. I called Belkin's tech support and they told me to download firmware--that might not exist!--for the modem. I don't know what's wrong with the configs at all. Plugging the modem directly into computer works, plugging through router doesn't. Not much to go off, but does anyone have suggestions?

Thank u,
Julia

Answer:Speedstream modem+SBC DSL won't work w/ Belkin wireless g router!

Grrrrrrrrrrr! They dont tell you this do they!

The speedstream DOES speed up my internet connection but for th elife of me I cant get it to talk to or see my belkin over a wireless connection!

My linksys is a WRT54GS model with 'speedboost' technology...........

Also there are NO firmware updates for my belkin or my linksys!

Answer:How to connect tp-link adsl router with belkin wireless router???

Relevance 97.99%

My network needs to connect to 6 wired PCs and 1 wireless PC.

Right now the Linksys 4 port router connects to the ADSL modem and 4 PCs -and I want to add a new Belkin wireless router to provide a wireless LAN access and have 2 add'l LAN ports.

Therefore, can I, and how do I configure the devices, so that the ADSL modem would go into the Linksys router; the Linksys would provide LAN connection to 3 PCs and the 4th port would go to the input of the Belkin router, which in term would provide wireless access and 3 more LAN ports?

Thanks.

Answer:Combining Linksys Router and Belkin Wireless Router

Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

Hey all, I'm having some network security issues. I'm in an apartment complex and I need wireless access for my laptop, and the occasional friend's laptop, so I have a Belkin Wireless G router . I configured it to have a unique SSID and a pretty long passkey. The other day, I just randomly checked the status and found 4 connections on my DHCP server, 2 of which were NOT supposed to be there. One's host name is a jumble of letters and numbers, but the other one was Meredith_4 or something, so I know it was another person.

That said, I wanted to lock the router down pretty well. So, I enabled MAC Address filtering. I've never had to do this before, so I'm a bit ignorant of its capabilities. I figured that the ones I put in and didn't check "block" for would be allowed, and perhaps all others would be blocked. It doesn't appear to work this way, because one of the rogue connections was still on, even when I enabled filtering. So, I put his/hers/its MAC address in and checked "Block." I reset the router and the configuration took, but the connection still showed on the DHCP. I KNOW there are no other computers or wireless devices in this apartment, so what gives?

Also, I keep trying to put an administrator password on the router, but it won't take. It allows me to hit "Submit" after changing the password, but then it says "Allow 25 seconds for the router to restart," and then does nothing.... Read more

Answer:Wireless Router Security issues, Belkin Wireless G router

Connect your PC to one of the LAN ports with a network cable. Reset it to defaults, log in and turn off the wireless so you are the only PC connected. Now try setting your admin password and see what happens. Once you get that sorted you can turn your wifi back on and lock it down. If you can I would recommend using WPA or even WPA2 encryption. For mac filtering you want to enter the mac addresses of your wireless cards and allow only those to connect. On my home network I use a unique SSID and disable SSID broadcast. I also use MAC filtering to only allow my cards to connect. I changed my routers default IP address and disabled the DHCP function so it will not give out IP addresses. I use static IP's on my PC's.

I am with Virgin Media and use a motorola SB1501E Surfboard at the moment.VM want 60 one off payment, or 12pm to supply a router and increase my BB speed (I am quite happy with my present speed).I have seen a new Belkin Wireless N Router on e-bay for much cheaper. As I know nothing about these things, would this suffice and would this router have a cable connection for my tower if I wanted. I would like a router for my laptop use in another room away from the Tower, and for use of my friend when he visits.I would appreciate any advice.tia

Answer:Router - Belkin Wireless N Router.

You will need to supply the model of the Belkin router. There are routers suitable for cable and other suitable for adsl.

The problem is not with the router or the ADSL dataline--Win 7 keeps turning the ethernet connector off. I had this working just fine a while back, but things happen and I had to reinstall Win 7. Now It won't work at all.

When I boot Win 7, immediately after it turns on the audio, the light on the ethernet connector goes out, and when 7 finally comes up, it shows "no connection available" . The LAN control in BIOS is good, and other OSs that I have on the HD don't have any problem. I've had 7 for a couple of years, and have not had any problems with it at all. Is it possible that I simply got a bad install?? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated...

I have recently installed a belkin wireless router and have 2 other computers with a wireless card installed (trendnet wireless cards) well when I brought the other computers home from the shop, they loaded the cards in the puters and did other work, well I can't get them to recognize the wireless router, in the desktop under the device manager there is a yellow exclamation point next to the wireless card that was installed, what does that mean? and as far as the laptop goes, under network in the control panel I was told that the wireless card in binding and that is why it cant be recognized, what in the heck does that mean and how can I fix trhe problem?
these are both operating on windows 98 SE

thanks

Answer:Belkin wireless router

Well firstly the yellow question mark either means the device isn't working or the driver isn't working or it's just not set uo properly which is the most likely.

But from the rest of what you say I'd suggest that the correct protocols haven't been set up for the network cards.

You'll need to have the TCP/IP protocol set up for the card. This is done via the Neighborhood Network icon which should be on your desktop. Right click on it and the click on Properties to bring up the configuration tabs.

Bindings etc are set up in here but as I'm not sure exactly how well you know your way around these places I'll hold off going into too much detail at the moment.

This may have been better posted in the Networking forum by the way but I'm sure an administrator will move this if they deem it necessary.

So, I've managed to hookup my wireless router in the past fine, like within the past week. A friend came in here and set it as a Wiress Access Point, now I'm unable to get to the router settings at all to restore it to the factory defaults. Any ideas on how I could go about doing that?

Answer:Belkin Wireless router help

Perhaps the model might help.....can log in and reset to factory defaults in the web admin (left side, under Utilities heading). Or...flip it back to Router/Gateway mode in the web admin.(also on the left side, under "Use as Access Point"...once you click on that, you'll need to enter the password you set on it....then be presented with an "Enable/Disable" radio button choice.

Answer:belkin g wireless router

If you have the correct hardware it will be a combined "Router & ADSL Modem" which *replaces* the USB Modem that you have been using. Both computers then connect to the router, either by ethernet cable or "wirelessly", for their internet access. The USB Modem should be removed completely from the system and any software that had been installed in order to use it should be uninstalled.

In theory, the wireless component of your network should not slow down the overall data rate of your service. However, have you tried borrowing a friend's cabled modem and tried your speed tests. Martin,I think your first difficulty is, as you suspected, that reset to factory settings has not worked. The Belkin instructions for factory reset are to press the reset for 10 seconds with the unit switched on. This is wrong. To factory reset, you must power down, press and hold reset while you power on. Hold reset button for a few more seconds before releasing.See if resetting in this manner gets you anywhere.

Answer:belkin N1 wireless router

Firstly yes, you do need security on. You have a choice between the older WEP or the newer more secure WPA. But Windows 7 64 bit does not like WPA.
As long as your email, and Internet access are all working, then the best thing to do is have a good look at the manual, You have a lot of devices attached, are they hard wired or wireless?
In my Draytek thread I have posted a query about WPA and Windows 7. Mine never drops out, has a DTS system, A Regza television attached by cable, and I use my iPad and laptop wirelessly.
One thing you could try is the UPNP setting. It's most likely disabled by default, but remember where it lives when you find it so you can disable it again if it doesn't help!
A lot of menus really should be left alone, if you want to play, you will also find a backup entry somewhere in the system. This will allow you to restore the router to exactly the same settings as before you made changes. Save it to your desktop for easy access.

Hello there,

I've installed a Belkin N1 Wireless Router for a client, and it seems to go down every night just in time for the morning. By go down, I mean that although clients are still connected to the SSID, no networking functionality (network drives, connection to the Internet) is available.

This is resolved by hard rebooting the router. Do you think there could be issues caused by cordless phones etc... that cause the connection to go down, without fail every night?

I've tried changing the Wireless options so that "Protected mode" (a setting that prevents interference from other wireless devices) is on, and I moved the connectivity to a different channel number.

Is there anything else that I could try?

Richard

Answer:Belkin Wireless Router

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, you should be able to access it using the default IP address and blank password.

To get the maximum benefit from a router using 802.11n protocol, you would need to connect to it with a *COMPATIBLE* 802.11n Wireless Network Adapter, although its performance shouldn't be inferior to that of a standard 802.11g router.

First off, Hello there, I'm new hope you could help me with the following problem:

My housemates and I have reccently had a 3mb blueyonder broadband connection installed in the house. This goes into the cable modem, then, into our Belkin F5D7230-4 .

When there is a singular PC plugged directly into the modem, without the router inbetween, the connection is great... However, when it is connection through the router, (via an 802.11g wireless connection with "excellent" signal strength) it is significantly reduced . (to well below what it should be, even if we were all using it).

I had a look in the settings for the router, and disabled the firewall, but even so, it is still (almost every second) blocking an ip, (it says for DoS protection). This ip also happens to always always be the number 2 ip on the list if i tracert or pathping any web address! so I assume it must be the local hub or something.

The connection through the router is only any good for a couple of minutes after resetting it, and I have no idea what's causing it....

also, if I ping my routers ip, the connection between my PC and the router seems perfect, so it must be the router stopping connectivity beyond that.

Any ideas as to how I could solve this problem? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Please don't start three threads on the same subject (and in the wrong section). We can help you better if you stick to one thread and explain the issue as clearly as possible. I have already posted a response in one of your other threads; let me know the answer to that and I'll be able to advise you.

when i connect them only the xp got the internet connection no luck with my macbook pro i can see the routers name on the macbook but still no connection when i click the routers name it ask me the WEP password which i dont have idea what is it......BTW want the macbook pro to be wireless.

the question is it possible to connect the two laptops to the internet and do you have any suggestions or links on how to do set up this things, really no idea on what i'm doing please help.

thanks,

Answer:Wireless set up with Belkin router?

I'm not an expert on wireless networking but I know just enough to be dangerous. You can connect several devices wirelessly to your router including your two laptops. However, everything does have to be compatible.

How did you set up your Belkin router? Did you set up a security protocol? WEP is an older less secure protocol. Perhaps your router was set up with WPA or WPA2 and the MAC is only compatible with WEP. Just a possibility.

hi,
i have a belkin 54 wireless router with built in ADSL modem and have (evenutally) managed to get it working with AOL broadband. Even though it works through AOL 9.0 i cannot get internet explorer working and therefore Microsoft Messenger wont work either.

Has anybody got an ideas on how to solve this problem

Thanks

Answer:Belkin Wireless Router

When you use AOL broadband, you cannot get online using IE until after signing on to AOL.

This is unavoidable and is the price you pay for bowing to the great internet giant.

Is there any reason why I should have a problem accessing the configuration page at 192.168.2.1 when the router is connected to the pc via a cable, but not connected to an ADSL line (Page Cannot Be Displayed)? Does it have to have an ADSL signal before the page can be accessed, unlike my Netgear non-wireless cable router?I realise there isn't much point fiddling with configuration if the router can't `see` a working internet connection, but I don't have an ADSL enabled line here...

Answer:Belkin wireless router

No, you don't need an active ADSL line to get into the config UI.Is this a new problem, or is this your first attempt with a router that you've just recently purchased?Try the obvious first; use a different browser or minimise your security settings (script blocking for example) though I have to say that I can access my Belkin config with scripts blocked. I just tried it to see if it has any effect.

I'm trying to setup a VPN, but having no success connecting to it from the Internet. I have a Belkin Wireless-G Router, model FD57321-4. According to several Belkin FAQs, no additional setup is necessary for a VPN to operate. However, their seemingly knowledgeless technical support claims simple port forwarding is necessary (of course, they have no idea what ports they are). I've opened the TCP and UDP ports claimed to be typically used for VPN (1723, 1701, 50, 51, 47, etc...), but I'm still not able to connect to my VPN from outside my network. I am able to connect to my VPN via my PDA when connected to the router wirelessly. Anyone know how to get this working or if it's even possible with this particular router? I'm attempting to make this connection using XP's native VPN service and client.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys - hoping some of you can help me with the problem im having - ive tried to search the internet for a solution and tried loads of things but to no avail.I have a Vista laptop and im trying to setup a Wireless router in my flat. I have a Belkin F5D763-4 router. My parents have the same router set up in their house and I can access that fine with my computer wirelessly.I am currently running a Tiscali wired connection for the internet which runs fine.I go through all the setup options on the Belkin instructions but when I try to connect to the router it gives a message saying connected with limited connectivity. From looking around the internet this seems to be a common problem.I dont know if this is relevant but when i tried to set up the router via the network car and cable on my PC it would not connect to the router unless i had the wired modem connected through USB and an inernet connection established.Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks in advanceMike

Hi GuysI just got a Belkin N1 Wireless Router along with a Belkin N USB Adapter.I plugged the Router in and changed all my cables over as instructed to do so from my bt modem to the Belkin. I installed the disk and followed the instructions on screen and entered my IP details. It connected me to the internet through my wired connection and all was hunky dory. I then installed the software on my other pc which is approx 5 meters away for the usb adapter. This installed nicely and was up and running. The problem is that it can rarely find my network and when it does it wont let me connect to it. There is no security on the network as yet and the network is visable. Im running xp on the wired and Vista on the wireless. I was told by belkin to update the driver for the vista machine which i did and still nothing. I've tried every channel available from the router and still nothing. Ive spent 2 days messing with this now and im ready to smash the whole lot of junk up. I wanted to run the vista pc in another room, but it wont even connect from 5 meters away. PLease help.I hate talking to Belkin support as it seems to be in india or somewhere and i cant even hear what they are saying half the time.

Answer:Belkin N1 Wireless Router

I have not tried the latest Belkin wifi management software, but I think it's a pity that you chose to install it. From XP onwards, such software has been entirely redundant and most folk consider it to be inferior to the simple reliability of WZC (and the Vista equiv.) Windows is happier doing it that way.Uninstall it, run a cleanup, then reinstall it with the driver ONLY.If you're not able to get the network secured ASAP, click here and turn off the wireless. Either that or get WPA/WPA2 up and running. Long key, mix of ASCII characters and symbols, circa 20 characters in length, copied to a text file to avoid typing errors.Oh, and read the manual from Belkin's website. It is very very simple to set up a home network and router, but if you start off wrong, you will likely go nowhere fast.

Ok well first off I always come here for help and finally I have a need to post =P

In 2003 for Christmas I got an HP Pavilion a305w PC with a Belkin wireless router and adapter. It has worked fine until recently. I noticed that I keep getting disconnected from my network and the internet. My computer tells me that I am connected still and my Belkin Wireless Utility program says I have signal... but I cannot access network resources or internet resources. If I try typing in my router setup page it times out. This happens about every 10 minutes or if I transfer a lot of data and lasts for about 7 minutes. I have almost given up using my computer because I ran a networking cable directly from the router to my computer and there was no problem but my dad wont allow me to do it again. I do not know if there is some sort of interference or if my adapter is going bad. I have reformattes my computer several times, each time reinstalling the driver I got on CD and the driver from the Belkin Website. Still it does not work. I have found that by using the Belkin Wireless Lan Monitor program and hitting Re-Scan, it will search and find the network again and lets me stay on for about 10 more mins. It is getting really annoying and no one anywhere else can seem to help me.

By the way it is a Belkin 802.11b 11Mbps adapter - model F5D6050 (discontinued)

I just got a belkin N1 wireless router. I have earthlink DSL which uses PPPoE. My login for that PPPoE connection is my email address including the @ symbol. The belkin router won't let me put an @ symbol in the username field for PPPoE. I have the newest firmware for my revision of the router. Any ideas?

Tried typing your email addy into something like notepad and doing a copy/paste jiggy on it?

Have NO IDEA why the darn thing would do that but hehe worth a try.

I've never been fond of Belkin for their networking hardware.... they seem to lose interested on doing firmware updates after one revision. Sad indeed. I used to own their Pre-N router back in the day and it suffered from a bevy of issues, one of them being poor PPPoE support.

im trying to cahnge the password for the router but it keeps asking me for the password before i do it, thing is, no passwrod works, ive tried leaving it blank, using the password it came with and it still doesnt work, it can be anything else beacuse i havent changed it yet

Answer:belkin router password doesnt work?

If you don't know what the password is, and you haven't recorded it anywhere, you'll need to reset the router to factory defaults [i.e.: http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app... ] - then the default factory password is used (Check your manual for that password). You should change the password from the default password to your own password as well and make a record of it. Then, you should look for any hardware firmware updates for your router [ http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app... ]Just another stupid saying...

I've had a BT Openreach engineer at my house today to try and sort out problems with my speed and connection, he's conducted test at my house and at the local exchange (three miles away) but to no avail, the best he got was 760 and he had no drop outs, he told me that I should/could be getting 1.8meg.About 6 weeks ago I started having drop outs and the speed dropped from a regular 800 to 1 meg down to below 500 and sometimes 130, my ISP is Plusnet and between us we tried all sorts of different ideas to fix my problem, I've unplugged all phones and anything else, tried a different router, changed all the filters and am no further forward, the engineer suggested a different wireless router from a manufacturer other than Belkin, if this is the problem can anyone recommend which one to try. This is doing my head in.

Hi Everyone

I have the above wireless router and am struggling with the speed offered. BT tested my line today and I have a capacity of 6.8 meg. When I plug a cable into my laptop I get 1 meg and if I use the wireless router it goes down to 54mbps - is this the capacity of the wireless router or is there something I can do to increase my speed?

Welcome to TSG.
I believe that the 54mbps that you refer to is the potential speed of your home network link, not the actual speed.
How did you speed test the wired and wireless links?
Was it faster before or is this a new network?

I talked to the guys from belkin, we got it too work for like 5 minutes then it quit again. I have no internet activity but i can sometimes get the wireless connected. I need help!!!!

Answer:no wireless connection with belkin router

Hi and welcome to TSG:
Two things we generally suggest to try first in connection issues:
Change the wireless channel being used(do this through the router's admin page).Channels 1/6/11 in US are preferred.
Make sure that you have the latest firmware update for the router.Perhaps the Belkin Techs already checked that, but it needs to be confirmed.
These two things fix a great many of the wireless connection issues that we see here.So try these first and see if the situation changes in any way.

I have Virgin 10Mb Broadband and when I connect my modem direct to my desktop PC I get a very good 9.7Mb (Broadband Expert speed test). But when I connect my Belkin wireless router the speed to my desktop PC (wired connection) drops to as low as 0.4Mb! Wireless connection to my wife's and my laptop is also very slow.Am I correct in assuming that the wireless router is broken or could it be an internal setting problem?

Answer:Problems with Belkin Wireless Router?

Are you switching everything off for a minute or two before swapping between router/computer? You must do so. Turn on modem, wait 1 minute, turn on router, wait another minute, then turn on or connect computers. The modem associates with the device connected to it the last time it was switched on.

I have a Belkin n+ f5d8235-4 v2 and I have reset the router and then I had to manually reconfigure everything and I may have messed something up. The router has two blinking amber lights: the modem and internet lights.
-I began with my modem booted up, then I booted up my router while my modem and router were connected via yellow ethernet cable and another cable from my router to computer.
-First, I set up a new password
-Next, I went to Connection Type and set up - Dynamic, then entered my ISP host name and clicked apply.
-Next, I went to MAC address cloning, and just clicked apply as the boxes were already filled with characters.
-Next, I went to Channel and SSID and left everything the same except I changed my SSID name and took off the box marked broadcast SSID then clicked apply . The wireless channel was set to auto and current channel was 11 and extension channel was set to auto.
Next, I went to Security, Security Type: WPA-PSK, Authentication: WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK and entered a new PSK and clicked obscure PSK then apply
Next, I went to Guest Access and enabled radio, created ssid name, Security: WPA/WPA2 PSK, Authentication: WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK then entered the same PSK as before and clicked obscure PSK then apply.
For some reason, when I go back to both of the previous two screens, the new password I created does not show up, only my old one but when I type the new password into my wifi network, it connects.

Not to long ago I decided to buy a wireless router, having a laptop, I got sick of the LAN cable.

Heres the original setup
Broadband via Cable Modem links to
STLab router, this feeds via Cat5 cable a Hub located upstairs which in turn
feeds the kids PC's and File Server unit.

Before I went wireless file transfer rates were what you expect from a hard wired network, ie very good.

So as I said I went to a wirelss Belkin router which took the place of the STlab router and as far as surfing the web wirelessly its a very good piece of kit.
However I had cause to transfer a file from the upstairs File server and upon doing so I noticed that the transfer rate was extremely slow, in fact so slow that I gave up.

So I changed to a hard wired connection and disabled the PCMCIA WINIC, I expected file transfer rate to improve but it didn't.

I rang Belkin and after 30 minutes on hold I was informed the fault was with the network cards on my laptop (both the PCMCIA and the MINI PCI card)

I questioned them but they were adamant it was my equipment and not theirs.

To fix the problem I have placed a Hub next to the Router and plugged the Hub upstairs into that and the Belkin router as well , so in a sense I have stopped using the LAN capability of the router ( if you get what I mean).

And as for file transfer rate...well it's as good now as it was before I switched it over to the Belkin ( both hardwired and wireless) Proof that the LAN side of the ... Read more

Maybe the router cannot understand the half-duplexness of hubs? Things get very slow if something tries to do full duplex on a half duplex network. You can test this by putting a switch in place of the hub or connecting the machines directly to the router without a hub in between.

I currently have a Belkin G+ 802.11g Wireless Router, and it works great, no problems connecting with cables. Wireless is a different matter. My network is secured with 64 bit WEP, and I have connected both my Nintendo DS and Wii to it by simply entering the SSID when attempting to connect to them. But I cannot get any notebooks to connect.

I am using a Dell Latitude D510, and there is no problems connecting to wireless networks as I work as an IT technitian for schools in my area, and it always connects to their wireless networks fine. Firstly, the main tool I use to connect to wireless networks is the Intel Wireless tool, and when I try to connect to my network with that, it asks for a ID that is printed on my router. It accepts the code listed as the routers PIN on the sticker underneath, but it won't connect. I've tried using the windows tools to try and connect, but when I do, I get a message saying that I need a certificate on the laptop so that the router can verify the laptops identity. When I try to connect to other wireless networks in the area, it just brings up a window asking for the password, and that's basically what I want my network to do

Answer:Cannot connect to Belkin router wireless

Does your router have something like a "Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)" configuration page in the Wireless section? If so, check there and see if there is something you want to change.

You're not using WPA because a game machine doesn't support it?

Hello!

I have a Belkin wireless router that fails to connect to the internet which is the final step in the installation process. All the connections are correct. It will try to connect to the internet up to ten times but still there is no connection. I even tried installing it on my wife's laptop but still the same problem. I already checked all the cables and they all work correctly.

My computer can detect the wireless connection, connect to it, and even access the control panel through 192.168.2.1 but the green light (on the router, which refers to Internet) doesn't blink at all. I tried connecting the cable modem directly to my PC and it works perfectly.

Good day to all. I've looked through the forum to find an answer to my problem. Some have come close but....
A few weeks ago ATT disconnected my line by accident. That line had Earthlink DSL.
Long story short, Earthlink had to re-requistion that line and after a week I had service again. Since then I've had nothing but problems.

My Hardware:
Zyxel P660R-D1 Modem
Belkin N Router F5D8233-4v3
Mac G5 running OS 10.5.7

Everything was fine. I had the modem and router working in harmony.
I connected thru PPoe thru my computer. I never changed any settings in the modem.
I think...I did have the router set at PPoe with user name and password.
(I reset the modem to default settings to see what the settings were since as I said I never did anything to the modem itself)
Since then Earthlink has had me change settings so many times I've lost track.

Current settings on the Modem are as follows:
Mode: Bridge
Encapulation: RFC 1483
Multiplexing: LLC
VPI: 0
VCI: 35

Router is set to Dynamic as this is the only setting that alows it to connect to the modem
However there is no web connection.

All I want is to use that wireless router so I can use my ITouch around the shop.
I've noticed even the speed had dropped.

Any help is appreciated. If yo need any additinal info, just ask.
Thank you in advance.

Richard

and I connect thru PPoe on my computer.
BUT can;t get the wireless router to connect to the the net.

Can I get some advice? After days of e-mail tag with Belkin support, they are now recommending that I return my router to them for repair or replacement (I am assuming at my expense).

My symptoms: The "Connected" lamp on the router flashes constantly. The PC will connect to the wireless signal, but there is no internet connecgtion through this connection. When connected by wire through the router, there is an internet connection.
Product info:
Version Info
Firmware Version 4.03.04
Boot Version 2.01.09
Hardware F5D7231-4
Serial No. BEL1SD0N

Attached, you will find the complete call history (which will provide all steps I completed as they recommended and answers to many possible questions you may have) with Belkin if you think it may help.. There are two different threads within it.

My question is: Does this router need repair/replacement, or can the problem be corrected otherwise? If otherwise, then please advise. Feel free to ask questions if there is not enough information for you.

Thanks,
Jason

Answer:Belkin F5D7231-4 Wireless Router

You cannot repair any thing on a Wireless Router, if you configured the Wireless Correctly and it does not work, send it to Belkin.

Belkin usually has very long warranty period on the devices that they sell (ask if you are not sure). So pack your unit and send it (it would be about $10 to ship).

They probably would send you immediately a refurbished one.

Hello.

I am from Germany. As an internetprovider I have AliceDSL.
For 1 week I've bought new WLAN Router N from Belkin. Befor I had normal modem without wireless.

After I installed my new WLAN Router from Belkin i get everytime when I download something disconnected. So if I normal surf i get internet normally.

The same problem with a disconnect appears when I play the MMORPG games. I stand logged on about max. 1 hour and then get disconnected.

I have read this forum and did't find anything, which could solve my problem.

Hope for your help

And sorry for my bad english

Hi.

I didn't know where I should post this, mods please move as appropriate.

I recently changed ISP from Tiscali to Direct Save Telecom. I received a letter the other day saying that the switch had been made. However I still have the same issues as before and haven't done anything actively to 'connect' to their provider. The router is still configured to Tiscali. I'm a little confused as to how it all works.

Anyway I have been attempting to configure the router to DST, assuming this would complete the switch and halt the Tiscali usage.

So I entered 192.168.2.1 in my browser and entered the setup wizard. When asked for the ISP DST wasn't on the list and this means I have to manually enter some things. When I just tried going with the default, it wouldn't connect, only inputting the old Tiscali details reconnected me. I don't have a clue what they refer to and my DST literature doesn't suggest what I should input there:

Connection type: PPPoE, PPPoA, Dynamic/Fixed IP (1483 bridged), Static IP (IPOA), Modem Only (Disable Internet Sharing)

IP assigned by ISP: Yes/No (No opens up more fields)

VPI/VCI: Both require numerical entries

Encapsulation: VC MUX, LLC

MMU: Another numerical entry, default is 1454

Could anyone give me an idea what to enter in these fields?

I'm stumped. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Configuring my Belkin wireless router to my new ISP

is this a router-modem or one or the other?
whats the model and brand?

If its a simple router, then its mainly dependent on your modem a;readu having access to the ISP service already. Then configuring your router to use the modem as a gateway..

If its a combo unit, or the modem, then the settings you may need to tweak with. I'm not familiar in what your ISP settings are for you, since i don't live in the UK, but theres a few things to try..

-Reset your unit to manufacturer's default
-download the latest firmware from the manufacturer and update
-read/download the manual for your unit and have a read. Often it will give you explanations of what each things do and mean.
-contact your provider and ask them if they can assist you in someway..

I brought and set up a Belkin Wireless Modem / Router yesterday - model F5D7630-uk4A. It connects to the internet over my BT OpenWorld ADSL line with no problem, and I can talk to the router via my Belkin Network Adapter without any problem. When I try and access web pages though I start getting problems. Some seem to load ok, but others only show part of the info, or the pictures don't download. Other times, the first page displays okay, but if I then click on a link this won't load and I usually get a Page Cannot Be Displayed error. If I ping something like click here then I get an IP address of 212.58.224.113 and access times of about 22ms. No packets get lost.If I then run a tracert click here, the first 5 hops are okay, but after that I just get * * * *. The last destination reached always seems to be inh3cs01-500.imsnet2.btopenworld.com [81.128.254.125].Is this a router setup problem, a DNS problem, or a BT problem? Thanks in advanceIain.

Answer:Problem with Belkin wireless router over BT net

Thanks for that. What sort of problem do you think it may be? Any more info would be very helpful. I say that because BT probably wont have the faintest idea what I'm talking about, and neither will I.Are you saying that this is a DNS problem or a problem with one of their actual servers?Could there be anything within the Belkin setup that would cause this? Is anybody else using this router over the BT network?

Answer:Can't Access Belkin Wireless G Router

So,

I just bought the Belkin G+MIMO Wireless Router. I have everything connected, all the lights are on, yada yada. Why can't my laptop connect with the internet, the wireless light is on. Do I have to buy an adapter?

Help?
K.R.

Answer:Solved: Belkin Wireless Router

do you know if your laptop came with built in wireless? if so, you should not need to buy an adapter. look for an icon down by the clock that says something like "wireless connection", "wireless assistant" or something like that. if you have more than one, let us know, that might be important as well. if you do have built in wireless on the laptop, make sure it is switched on ( some laptops have a switch for the built in wireless so you cant turn it off when it is not needed, to conserve battery power when not plugged in) it will usually have a blue light with a symbol that looks like an antenna with waves coming off of it.

I have an interesting problem.I have a wireless Belkin adsl router and all was well until this morning when IE would only load half a web page if I was lucky and then just stopped. I tried to reset the router, different cables etc. Now the funny thing is that email works fine as does P2P filesharing (naughty). The wireless aspect also works luckily, so I could post this on my laptop. The final thing I tried was to restore the whole PC using a "ghost" image created before I even bought the router. I thought this was foolproof, but no, IE will still not work, but every thing else does. Please help me..... I am losing what hair I have left......

Answer:Problems with IE with a Belkin wireless router

Try a repair of IE click here although I don't hold out much hope - I suspect that this is due to your use of P2P software for illegal purposes. Which one? This may require a reformat - this may think again before using KaZaa or whatever.

My Dell computer uses a Belkin G (one of the older models) router to offer a secure connection to two laptops, two desktop computers, and a handful of handheld electronics. We haven't had many issues with it, but when we got back from a four day vacation, both the lights for 'wireless' and 'secure' have been turned off and the wireless internet isn't working. I've tried holding the reset button, then unplugging it from everything and waiting ten seconds after the lights went out and plugging it back in. Nothing's been working. The 'wired', 'router', 'modem', and 'internet' lights are all still green. On our Motorola Modem everything is still lit. I really need help, we need wireless on all of our computers. I'm not very computer literate, so please bear with me and use layman's terms.Additional Details: We were gone for three days, and only the two laptops were used, but not on our wifi, the hotel's. Both desktops were turned off for the three days. There was a storm one night (not sure if that has any significance). We use Long Lines. My Router's model is - F5D9231-4 v2Pictures:RouterThe top two lights are unlit on mine.ModemAll of the lights are lit on mine in green.TowerIf you need to contact me for anything, my email is: [email protected]email addy removed to prevent SPAM

Answer:My Wireless Belkin Router Isn't Working! Please Help!

If you performed the hardware initialization and still no good then I'd buy a new one. Belkin's are not top quality, and a newer model would probably be more secure than the old unit that might have vulnerabilities. I had a similar issue with a linksys access point after a nasty storm. For some reason that storm spiked the power to the home and the access point was the weakest link. Ended up upgrading that 2004 model access  point to a newer Netgear with better security options for about $60

I have a Belkin enhanced wireless router N150 which has been working fine since i got it 4 weeks ago. I set up security on it no probs. The problem is since yesterday when i put security on it..the WIRELESS green light on the router goes off. When i switch off the security the WIRELESS light goes back on. Obviously i cannot connect my ipod to the internet without the WIRELESS light being on. What is going on? Also a moment ago the MODEM light on the router was flashing red, and yesterday some of the lights were flashing orange for a while..then settled down! Is my router faulty or is there something else wrong? I have done a factory rest but hasnt solved the problem.

Answer:BELKIN ENHANCED WIRELESS ROUTER

Have you tried Belkin support on-line click here . If you cannot find a solution there, contact Belkin by email and describe your problem to their technical support staff.

hi,just bought the above router and a Belkin USB Network Adapter. Have setup the router on the host PC and it works fine. Have then installed the USB Adapter to another PC and tried to conect with the router through DHCP. It was fine at first but after I restarted the PC (client) it seems that it triggers the router to shutdown disconnecting both host and client from the internet. Tried restarting the router but same thing happens after a while. It coneects but after a while connection is lost with the router as the router shuts down. Have also updated the firmware but same characteristics occurs.Hope that someone could help me with this. Many thanks.

<<< Have setup the router on the host PC and it works fine... ...It was fine at first but after I restarted the PC (client) it seems that it triggers the router to shutdown disconnecting both host and client from the internet. >>>When you install a router, there is no "Host" PC and there is no "Client PC". Both PCs connect to the router, get their internet access over the LAN from the router, and have an equal status in the network. You *must not* have Windows "Internet Connection Sharing" enabled on any connection in either PC, as this will cause problems and conflicts with IP addresssing.

I have a two computer office network running Windows 7 Professional. We use a network printer/copier which is connected to one of the computers. I am trying to install a Belkin 8236-4 wireless router. Everything connects successfully and the wireless internet works. However, once the Belkin router is running, the network printer no longer works. The IP address for the Belkin router is 192.168.2.1 The port for the printer is 192.168.0.55_3. As soon as I disconnect the Belkin router, the printer will start working again.

I am running a computer on the above router and my wife is in next room connected up wirelessly to me. The computer she is using is some 4 years old with under 1GB memory, it has a 802.11G Belkin card fitted. It just keeps disconneting, when you click on repair it sometimes works. If not, and you click on the card 802.11G it takes you to the country codes and is always set to United states of America 1/11 when you change it to United Kingdom 1/13 it connects up again. When it fails again and you go to card it is back to USA 1/11. Any ideas how to stop this disconnection problem? Cheers Diesel48
