How to stop people spoofing your domain in emails?

Question: How to stop people spoofing your domain in emails?

I am in the process of setting up an SPF record, we have full rDNS setup and its related to our domin name (eg rDNS to ip 1.1.1.1 = outmail.ourdomain.com)

Is there any other ways to stop people spamming and spoofing your domain name? eg people are sending mail with [email protected] as the sender. The problem is that loads of mail server just send me spam notification even though the header clearly shows its from a server in japan and nothing to do with our server.

Preferred Solution: How to stop people spoofing your domain in emails?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to stop people spoofing your domain in emails?

Also known as "joe-jobbing". No, there isn't a way. The receiving servers would have to drop all mail from your domain if it didn't meet certain criteria. Emphasis on receiving servers, as in ones you don't control.

Sucks, but there you go.

Looks like you have a proxy or security program installed doing that.

Are you sure that login success isn't you logging into your router config?

Hey, we are facing problem regarding spam and spoofing in our company. we get email messages from each other and from our own email address. can some assist what can be the coz and how to fix it.
Thanks

Answer:How to stop spam and spoofing?

You may first want to check the headers of the spoofed messages to make sure that they are not coming from users' within your company that have virus infected computers.

Not sure if or how you could set up a spam filter on your mail server to block outside incoming messages whose headers claim they came from that server.

We just got a new router. The new one has a much better firewall, better notification system, basically the whole 9 yards.

Ever since it went live, it's been telling us that a few outside IP addresses are trying to do an IP Spoof?

A) What the hell is trying to spoof an IP? I assume something on the outside is trying to spoof something that we have on the inside?

B) Since it's not on our internal network how in the world do I stop this from continueing to happen?

C) What impacts on our network might this have? I'm assuming the new router will basically ignore these "attacks" and just notify us of them. But what else can be done to get them to stop?

I'll quote you what our router is telling us. Anyone seen anything like this before, if so, how do you combat this?

Answer:IP Spoofing: The negatives and how to stop it?

I assume you know what an ip address is....

Sppofing means I am trying to connect to your router and I tell your router I am at IP 1.1.1.1 but I am really at 2.2.2.2. I'm lying to your router which is hacking also known as spoofing. Someone is trying to cover their tracks when trying to connect to your internal stuff such as a webserver or whatever.
Thats all ip spoofing is. Now your router may have the 'sesitivity' turned up to high and the sppofs it thinks its seeing really arent spoofs.
If its a high end router then it may do a reverse ip lookup and figuring out the spoof.
At any rate a spoof is normal now adays. Many people also do it to try and remain anonomyous.
Key is to make sure you havegood filters on your router and your external facing systems are hardend as best as possible.

I noticed an influx of bounce back emails from spammers using my email address to send spam. I know these are not actually originating from my server, but that does not stop people who are getting spam from submitting my domain to RBLs which will result in my server's IP being blacklisted everywhere. Is there anything at all I can do about this? I [should] have SPF records if that helps. Mail server is mail.iceteks.ca.

Answer:Is there anything I can do to stop spammers from spoofing my email?

What blacklist uses the IP address by looking up the MX of the domain? Do you just think it is so or do you have some evidence that this is being done?

Normally, a blacklist should enter the IP address of any server that is actually delivering the spam.

Here is a good one for you guys. I am a bit stumped. It could be something rather simple.

I have a client with SBS2003 R2. They have 6 users. 5 are in the office, one is remote. This remote address does not use outlook or connect via VPN to the server. The SBS uses Microsofts IMAP connector and downloads the email to the SBS. The 5 users in house can email each other, other people outside the domain, but not the 1 remote user. They all have the same @domain.com address. My understanding is that the emails to her are resolving locally, she does have a user account on the server (not a pop3 connector acct). Should I just remove her email address from her user account?

Google found me this.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300681

I tried Method 1 with no success, but was unsure if I should attempt Method 2?

Answer:SBS2003 R2- user not in sbs domain not recieving emails from users inside the domain

Not clear on your setup...so you have 6x users on your SBS box? 5x in house, and 1x at a satellite branch that does not authenticate to the domain.

And you're using the POP3 connector to pull e-mail from a mailhost out there which houses the POP3 mailboxes?

Is the default recipient policy of the Exchange server set to this "domain.com"?

The first 5x users can send/receive locally to the domain.local addresses? Did you manually add a default SMTP address for each user for domain.com?

Can e-mails to this 6th person show up in her inbox if you check from OWA?

Do you see what happens to e-mails for this 6th person in Exchange Message Tracking Center?

Hi,

So whenever my sister and my brother-in-law send me emails, the email is blank and there is only an attachment entitled "noname." There is no file extension to it. So to read emails from them, I need to download the attachment, then when I open it, I have to choose Wordpad to open it and then I can read the email. It's strange. It only happens with them, no one else. They both use Macs, and they just moved to a different place and even with the new Internet connection this happens.

The only thing I can think of...I use Gmail and they both use a University alumni account. As far as I know, they access their email through a website, not through a mail program like Eudora etc. Could that be the culprit? It's just really annoying to have this happen all the time.

Thanks.

Hi

Around two months ago one of our clients mysteriously started being unable to receive emails from around 4 users they could still receive emails from everyone else , so we thought it was a mail server problem.
So we moved the emails to a new server and there still having the same issues. We have tried sending emails through AOL,Hotmail,Yahoo, O2 and our own email and they all go through fine , but these for compines which just happen to be there major clients keep getting this error-

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: RE: email
Sent: 25/02/2010 09:53
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
[email protected]*********co.uk on 25/02/2010 09:54
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
<hesa06uker.he.local #5.1.1>

Any ideas why most emails work but some don’t , as the mailbox obviously exists??

Many thanks

Can anyone help with this as any emails sent to an AOL account are blocked. This is not just to one account but to several accounts in various parts of the U.K.

Answer:Cannot send emails to people with AOL accounts

AOL do that from time to time, they block mail from certain providers because of spam that has been relayed through the now-blocked provider. There's not much you can do about it until AOL disable the block.

Hi,
I installed a trial of Norton Antivirus 2008 the other day, and I have found that something/someone is using my computer to send about 100 emails a minute to random addresses, whenever I connect to the Internet. I tried to fix it by doing a virus scan with Norton Antivirus, but the emails were still being sent, so I downloaded NOD32, Spybot S&D, Avira Antivir and AVG Free and did virus scans with all of them. They found a lot of viruses, but nothing had changed.

What should I do to fix this? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi all,

The problem kinda creeped in on me, at the beginning it was a few emails but now it's all of them. Here's the situation has succinctly as I can:

First off, for years I've only had two main email accounts. The one provided to me by my ISP, Bell Sympatico, and the other is from my company's domain which is production24fps.com.

I've stopped using the Sympatico address a while back. On this computer it isn't configured anywhere, I have to go through Bell's webmail if I want to access it. My 24fps account is configured through Thunderbird.

***

As it is now if I were to send you an email your reply would end up in my Sympatico account. Not only that but you would actually believe that my email actually came from this address and not the 24fps one since it says so in the header.

Now how could this be if the sympatico address is not even configured anywhere on my computer?

Actually it goes as far as this. When I send an email through Thunderbird with my 24fps account that email will appear in the Sympatico Sent box as well as the 24fps one.... In the 24fps Sentbox all emails state that they were sent from the 24fps account but in the Sympatico Sent box all emails state that they were sent from the Sympatico one.

Baffling to say the least....

***

I've called the ISP but since I use Thunderbird (which they don't support) they won't gave me the light of day. How could this be Thunderbird related when that address is not configured in it.

Now there is one tiny thing th... Read more

Answer:People's replies to my emails goes out into another account

It must be something in your Thunderbird settings. My first thought was actually that you had your Reply-To address set to the Sympatico address, which would cause exactly what you've described, down to the letter.

Are you saying that you're still using the Sympatico SMTP server for outgoing messages? That might be another possibility; you should probably change that to the SMTP server provided by 24fps anyway just for good measure.

Perhaps that'll solve the issue for you. If not, post back here and we'll explore further options.

I have a project at work where I have to send the same email to 30 different people (the office uses Microsoft Outlook).

I have set up a distribution list but I want to keep each individual email address private from the other members of the group but whenever I have tested this (using staff email addresses not the ones I want keeping private) whoever receives the email can see all the email addresses of the other people the email was sent to.

Is there a way to stop this from happening, can it be set up so only the name of the contacts appears rather than their full email address?

Thanks

I want to have a page on a website where people can 'sign up' to receive emails from me by entering their email. How do I do this? How does the person's email get transferred from the website to me? Is there a way to make it generate a list of people's emails, so that I don't have to manually paste each one into a list in Outlook Express or whatever?

Answer:How collect people's emails on a website

Why make it so complicated? There is no need to have people send you their email address. All you need is a button on your website, which when clicked sends you an email from the email address that clicked the button. When you receive this email you just add the address to your address book. All local mail clients (even most Webmail clients) have the option to do this either manually or automatically. If all these people are going to be receiving the same email from you then you get your email client to add these addresses to a Group Account. That way you only mail the "Group".CAUTION: Make sure that you set up your group mailing so that the reciepients cannot see the other reciepients email addresses. You will have a lot of unhappy people - and probably a lawsuit - to deal with.

I have an international business contact(Chile S.A.), who's emails keep getting bounced back to him. The email I have given him is from a GoDaddy domain name forwarded to my Earthlink master email account.

Why does this happen and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks

Answer:Why do people's emails get bounced when trying to send me mail?

Hi welcome to the forum.
You have to obviously check the agreed paths for that e mail to be accepted by Earthlink, being the accepting party.
Again the agreed path direct from him through the other 2 parties have to be checked.
Are you sure your busuness connection is following all the protocols to get to GoDaddy?
If at GoDaddy his mail is not of type then they will reject & return, same goes for Earthlink.

Are you able or have you used that exact same link from Chile?
Has it worked & now doesn't?

I intend 'publishing' a document (sort of book really) and distributing it as a downloadable item.I have received an e-book which appears on the screen - but there is no menu bar, tool bars, status bar or anything. I can't right click, I can't highlight and copy. I can't do anything at all except read it. I downloaded it quite a while back, so some of the details are hazy, but what I have on my machine now is a setup wizard an exe file to open the book and some associated uninstall filesThis is such a neat idea that I would like to do it to my potentially forthcoming e-book.Through Google, I have found a company called WCCL that has an html protection program that is similar - but doesn't seem to be exactly what I want.Has anyone out there found/used a program that will make my e-book something that hides everything except the actual text - and that makes the text only readable on the screen with no print/copy/steal facilities?Got to go out again for a while, so I'll be looking later on.Ta.Chris

PP9 or PP10 allow production of PDF files with password protection. There are programs around that will circumvent standard PDF protection, but if basic protection is enough it will do the job very well. Good for formatting the book properly, and for professional printing via high quality PDF. Supports URL links, bookmarks, various compression for a web version, etc.If your book is already finished, and nicely formatted in another program, you can use a PDF printer driver like PDF Factory Professional, click here - which is cheaper than the full Adobe Acrobat

You need to calm down and have a little patience. This is not live tech support. The fact that people are not on-line has nothing to do with how or when they receive help. They will be notified by e-mail of the reply and will often return to the thread very quickly to carry out the instructions.

I'm not that familar with xp, so how do I stop users from remotely login into a pc with xp? Thanks

Trevor

Answer:how do I stop people from remote login

Use a password on your User Account(and don't tell anyone), put a password on the "Administrator" account(and don't tell anyone), dont have any other User Accounts, disable Remote Desktop, Disable any Remote Desktop Connection(RDC) allowances in the SP2 firewall, the list only begins from there, many things you can do to "dissuade" remote login, depending on what kind of remote login you're talking about, whether it's RDC, or something else, etc etc.

when i go into ares i sometimes find people uploading from my files, how do i stop this?

Answer:how do i stop people uploading from my ares g

It may or may not be possible (I don't use P2P programs) look in settings, preferences, options or similar in the menu and see if there is an option to allow/prevent others from downloading from your pc.It may not be possible as the whole idea is to share, so don't expect to be able to download files you want and prevent others from doing the same.My advice is don't use it at all, don't download questionable material and don't let others onto your pc.

Hi there,

My computer has a nasty little virus. It randomly redirects me to websites (ie yellow pages), sends emails that contain a link which is a virus to people on my google email account, and slows my computer down. I have had an Antivirus system popup before this one, and I think I got rid of it, and everything was running fine, but now this fake program Antimalware Doctor (or something to that effect) has popped up, although not in the last couple of days.

Also, when my computer starts a popup saying "error loading dddcyt.ddl" (I think that's what it says) comes up. I don't know if I deleted a necessary process or file on accident. I tried deleting anything that I didn't recognize, without going too crazy.

I just ran this RootRepeal system that I saw on this website, and I have the log file attached.

Please help me get rid of this!! It affected my banks logon screen and asked for my pin number, and when I called the bank services, they told me I had a virus. This is bad!

Thank you,
Danny

I have four Facebook accounts and I am receiving spam emails to my regular email address, from people on my Facebook friend's list to the email addresses from all four of those accounts. they all contain the same spam link & this friend doesn't even know those four email addresses. he is friends with all four accounts. he knows my primary email address not associated with any of my Facebook accounts which doesn't receive the spam like the others do. these email addresses that get the spam from range from Pokémon, MLP, or Skyrim themed addresses which has names that he doesn't even know or could begin to spell. I know his email address because he associated only one email with Facebook and I sent him Amazon.com stuff before. the spam comes from that email he has that I know and he uses to log into Facebook with.

How is it that the emails associated with my Facebook accounts get into his email to be spammed when he doesn't even know them?

Answer:I am receiving spam emails to my regular email addresses, from people on Faceboo

I think you will need to clarify as this is a little confusing.

Let me see if I get this straight:

You have 4 email addresses that are associated with 4 FB accts. We will call them [email protected],com [email protected],com, [email protected],com, and [email protected],com.

The spam you are receiving is from those contacts on your Facebook pages (all 4 of them).

The part that confused me was this:

I have four Facebook accounts and I am receiving spam emails to my regular email address, from people on my Facebook friend's list to the email addresses from all four of those accounts.

To which email?  I thought you were only getting them to your "private email" account (we will call [email protected],com).  Are you also getting those same spam emails to your email accounts associated with those 4 Facebook accounts?

This needs to be clarified before being able to figure out what has happened. Some Facebook email spam appears to be from Facebook but really isn't. OR could be from a hacked email account or a hacked Facebook account.

Hello,
Im running Teamspeak 3 and I use stereo mix to stream sound to my friends, the only problem is that whenever they talk Stereo mix plays their voice back and causes insane feedback. I would just mute everyone but that would mean I cant hear them myself.

Is there any way to change it so that stereo mix wont pick up their voices let me still hear them?
(I have 2 recording devices, Microphone and StereoMix. I have 2 playback devices, my HDMI to the TV and a Speaker output.) I use VIA High Definition Audio as my drivers.

Regards, Pav.

Answer:How to stop other stereo mix looping other people on teamspeak

First, you should check if your sound driver supports background noise cancellation, that should help a bit.

Secondly, take a look at Team Speak settings and make sure your only input there is the microphone channel and not stereo mix.

Each morning I have a list of 10-20 rejected emails that were sent out about a week ago using my domain.  I don't recognize any of the recipients (not from my email lists) nor do I recognize the email account in the From: field.  All of the emails contain a randomly named zip file that it tries to send (probably a virus).

This is an example of one of the emails.  The X-Sender is my actual email address, however the From address uses my domain but not my account name.

Is this a virus?  Is someone logging in to my account?

Hi,

I recently performed a clean install of Windows 8.1. On the metro start page today was a flag asking me if I wanted to learn more about the OS, so I clicked on it. There might be something new there, I thought.

I was quickly taken to my Microsoft account which contained a link to my Hotmail app page. I'd forgotten I had a Hotmail account, and I've never used it since signing up for the trial version of Windows 8 in October 2012.

Anyway, I clicked on the Hotmail app link and found to my horror mail from third parties to my grandson, mail between him and his mother (my daughter) and between him a bloke he sold a computer to.

Now I do not want to read other people's mail, even if they are family members. I don't want them on the computer or in a cloud somewhere. It seems amazing the Hotmail (or Outlook.com or whoever) can 'sync' across mail accounts.

Does anybody have any experience of this, and how can I stop Hotmail from stealing other people's mail?

Cheers!

Hello,

I have noticed on many occassions that when people send me an email to our business email account it says something like -

"[email protected] on behalf of Joe Blogs <[email protected]"

How do people do this?

I can see one advantage of doing this because I could use any computer or mobile device to log into my Gmail account and check my business emails. Our current set up would require me to lug around my laptop.

Does this have something to do with the domain mapping options?

Are there any disadvantages to doing it this way? Will the original email still 'live' on our business server so it can be retrieved via Outlook 2010?

Any help or direction would be appreciated!

All the best,

Dave

Hi All,

This is my first post on this site - I've been trying to figure what might be the cause of my problem, searched Google, received no help from my mail server host and so have turned to you guys.

I have an Asus F5 laptop with Vista Business and using Windows Mail for my email, with eM Client () on the same machine. My PC is a totally separate XP SP2 machine and has eM Client.

Suppose I work for "A Company", whose email addresses end in "acompany.com.au". The company's website and mail is hosted by an external 3rd party. It's a POP3 / SMTP setup and has been working fine up until I ran into my issue (below).

The issue arose around the same time that I installed iTunes after getting an iPhone (and set the iPhone up to receive mails). A business colleague did the same thing and does not have the issue I have.

Supporting info and my issue:

1. Webmail:
I can send and receive emails to / from anyone: the outside world and acompany.com.au domain - no problems.

2. iPhone:
I can send and receive emails to / from anyone: the outside world and acompany.com.au domain - no problems.

3a. Laptop - Windows Mail application AND eM Client (a different email application), neither of which are web-based:
I can send and receive emails to / from anyone in the outside world - i.e. they DON'T have an acompany.com.au domain email address
I can receive emails from anyone with an acompany.com.au domain email address
Emails I send to people with an aco... Read more

Answer:Emails sent to same domain not arriving

I've done some further experimentation and have some more information that may help identify the problem, and hopefully lead to it getting sorted.

If I receive an email from someone outside "acompany.com.au" and I reply and CC someone who IS from "acompany.com.au", the CC'd person gets the email. Subsequent replies back and forth then work OK - even without the original external person being on the email.

So it seems that it's just new emails I create to people with the same email domain as me. Why would that occur across different applications on different machines?

Hi
I recently received a number of emails, supposedly from friends/rels in my address book, with just a random link in the message body.
So, I changed all my passwords and they seemed to stop.
Now, I'm getting quite a lot more again. Again, usually from people who are listed in my address book. These emails are being sent to other people, with their names and addresses being displayed in to 'To' part, available for all recipients to see.
The messages in these emails are currently
*"Single Mom Makes $89,844/Yr in Her Spare Time on The Computer Without Selling Anything
http://www.corfu-olivetum.com/hwork56.html "*
Does this mean the various address books have been compromised, if emails go out to and from the addresses in the book?
How can I stop these arriving, and how can I be sure my address book, and my friends/relatives address books are clean/secure?
As I said, I've already changed passwords on my email accounts. I might change email addresses but what about the security of mine, and others, address books.
If anyone can enlighten me, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Answer:How to Stop receiving Spam/Junk sent from people in my address book

This is very common at the moment but Please don't post the link in future - Forum Members are warned not to follow the link in the original post!!!
If you are receiving these from people in your address book as individuals it is probably their e-mails that have been hacked. If you are receiving mailer-daemon for messages that you have apparently sent to undeliverable e-mail addresses it's your e-mail that has been hacked. Changing passwords is the first step in either case. It is important not to use "dictionary" words or names and numbers - these are cracked very easily. Add in "Wild Card" symbols such as @ for a, zero for o, $ for s even ^,%,* etc.
When people send round robin e-mails or pass on chain mail with recipients clearly visible in the To or CC fields, every one of those addresses becomes a target for hackers and can be harvested for this type of spamming. Hackers will then try to log into those e-mails using webmail and use password cracking software using dictionery word and letter combinations to access that account and then harvest every contact.

No one is going to be able to tell you how to fix a problem just based on what you've stated so far. Slow campus networks *can* be caused by some virus, but there are many more variables involved that can not be accounted for without an indepth review of the entire site, usage patterns, networks, wan connections, etc.

School policy and politics also come into play which can be a bigger factor here than you realize. I myself have been talking to a small community college about drastically improving the campus network, however its a moot point due to budget constraints and the fact the present "IT" people have no interest in doing anything more than they are now.

Have been using a domain name for my website and emails for 20 years. About a month or so ago I discovered that people sending emails to my domain name got their emails bounced back if there was an attachment that exceeded about 4MB with the message "A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients" Although an email sent to my real address with an attachment far exceeding 4MB is delivered OK! I think what he wants is just a normal work email with 5 or 6 emails under the domain he's registered for the website. I have no idea how this works so please bear with me.

Answer:Emails for a small business with a custom domain

It all depends on if the hosting he has offers email if that's the case then he would add the email addresses at the hosting control panel.

If he has no mail on his web hosting then I'd go for Google apps free, that will allow you to setup mail for your domain for up-to 10 users Google Apps helps groups build communities ? Google Apps

To setup something like the google option you will need to edit the MX records for the domain, but I think they explain it all quite well while running through the setup.

having an issue that some of the users on our domain have been receiving emails sent from external senders but they appear as having been sent from our domain - "on behalf" of the external users address.

i.e. our domain is say - roman.org
some users are receiving email from say [email protected] however, the message they receive appears to come from [email protected] - on behalf of [email protected]

I am quite confused as to how this is happening since "[email protected]" is not a user on our exchange, nor is the email applied anywhere.
Even if they were using SMTP through the exchange server somehow - our exchange only allows mail to be sent from certain IP addresses, and only allows relay from certain IP's.

Does anyone know how or why this kind of thing is happening and how to put a stop to it?

I have tried searching the net for an explanation but can't seem to find something similar.

thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:Solved: Exchange 2010 - Receiving emails from own domain?

Not even been up long and i have found out what was causing this.

Our externally hosted website (which had access to our exchange) had been setup to use SMTP to send email from the contact form on the site.
All these emails were coming from there through our exchange and using randomly generated email addresses from our own domain to send these emails.

We have now updated this so it uses a generic email address, so not to cause anymore confusion of receiving emails from random addresses which look like they are on our domain.

I have a domain www vacationholiday net. If I put my domain link into my email- from my att.net (yahoo) account the link gets redirected. However it only gets redirected if the receiver is also at yahoo.com.

If I put for example cnn.com in the same email, or alone, that link is not redirected. If i send a cc of the email to someone that does not use yahoo.com (att.net) the link to my domain is not redirected.

I have run antivirus scans AVG and Threatfire with no resulting finding of virus or malware.

I tried to send the same emails with Outlook instead of IE, but the emails to yahoo addresses were also diverted.

Any ideas would be very appreciated. I don't want anyone to get to the tastypill site from my emails and I don't know what other urls I may put in my emails that may trigger this problem.

I have added new users on a company network (server 2003). Also set up their new email addresses using Outlook 2007. Now both the new users are able to send emails but are not receiving any.

I tried sending them an email and it was returned with the following message:-

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown (state 14).

How can I fix this error so that these users can receive emails?

All assistance highly appreciated

Answer:Not receiving emails on Outlook 2007 on a company network domain.

What happens when an email is sent from inside your domain?
I mean to these problem account...Also you mentioned using Outlook to set up the accounts? Surely you meant exchange or did you you build the email accts when setting up the user accounts in AD?

Our small office is not on a domain and uses a simple workgroup.
We can’t receive emails (pop or imap, standard ports) from our domain work email since two days ago when the company providing our internet connection changed/updated something to do with our internet connection (requiring new router credentials and a new IP address).

The STRANGE thing is other email accounts work fine if set up here (using the same kind of ports etc) and our work emails receive fine through other internet connections!
We have been in contact with both the company that provides our internet connection (we have two connections with them, one for pc’s & laptops and one for the phone system - which I've also tested with our email unsuccessfully) and the company that provides the email service. Both companies have not been able to fix this or pin point the problem.

Any ideas much appreciated!

Trying Windows 8 at work and bought new Samsung 700t tablet. Windows 8 works fine with local user (linked to live id) and all our software including Symantec Endpoint 12.1.2. As soon as I join to domain (server 2008) and reboot the live tiles no longer function. Have total reset several times and tried refresh and restore points. My guess is that has to be default behavior of Win 8 GPO compared to 2008 domain GPO. We are very plain on our policies and so far have not found anything on local computer or GPO that can correct issues. Any ideas?

Answer:Joind Domain and Live Tiles stop working

The problem is GPO related. Windows 8 is looking for tile notifications GPO settings and if the domain is Windows 2008 then there are no domain policies relating to Windows 8 Live Tiles. In the absence of the policy Windows 8 assumes "Enabled" which will "Turn Off Tile notifications".

The way I fixed was to add a Server 2012 to the domain (just member server, not dc) and add group policy managment to the server roles. This will allow you to manage GPO and include Server 2012 and Windows 8 eelements. Manage all GPO from this server. In the default domain policy (any gpo will do though) Browse to "User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Start Menu and Taskbar, Notifications". In the "Turn off file notifications" change state to "Disabled" as this will allow Live Tiles to work.

Hello, I'm getting hundreds of emails every day saying: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of itsrecipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:Can anyone please help me as its driving me insane as these are addresses I have not sent emails to

Answer:how do I stop these emails

I would suspect that your email account has been hacked and it is being used to send out spam email, some of which is bouncing back, hence getting the messages you are receiving. The definitive cure depends on what sort of email you have (webmail, company email, standard ISP email or whatever) but the first thing to do is to log into your email account and change your password - this might be enough but if not then post back with more info."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Could some one tell me how to stop email. It's loading my email server up.

Answer:How do I stop emails

If you are talking about spam, there is only one solution.

Have 2 email addys, one for your friends, and only them. Do not post it on the web or for any reason

Have a second for web purposes.

Sorry that I misunderstood your question, but I think that the adivice that I gave you is timeless. A great way to prevent spam.

By visiting certain sites (Hotels, Shopping, etc etc ) and (I think) by clicking on "understand and agree to terms of agreement" I keep getting unwanted mails from these sites. I have put them in "Block senders list" but I still have to eventually delete them. Is here any way to stop these types of unwanted emails? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Stop unwanted emails

You are probably getting emails, because you gave it a certains sites. Think about it ever give your addy to get something free or to join a club, etc.
Dont give your address, do what I do. I have a spam address. It online and I could forget about it. If I want some information, but have to give my addy, I give the spam addy.
You do not have to do this with reputable addy, such as your bank, electric company, cable company etc. Just at those sites you do not know. Want to know how much unwanted mail, I get, none?
I is unlikely that because you visit a site, they can pick up your addy.

I now get about three emails a day from windowscentral.com promoting the latest articles posted there. The emails do not have any way to unsubscribe. Most emails like that provide unsubscribe info at bottom. I was not getting these emails two months ago. How do I stop these emails? I log into the account and go to account page ant it is a completely different web site. (passport.mobilenations.com) How do I control subscription I did not ask for from an account from a web site different from windowscentral.com? This is so strange.
Sometime in 2013 I signed up for Windows Phone Central forums (forums.wpcentral.com) to post questions about a windows phone I had. It appears wpcentral.com turned into windowscentral.com. Then my account appears to be owned by passport.mobilenations.com. passport.mobilenations.com appears to connect my account to a whole host of web sites. I do not know what is going on.

My friend has frequently "lost" emails after downloading them but before opening them. She's on Win XP, using OE with a dial-up connection. Now she discovered that she can prevent this happening if after downloading she then closes OE before disconnecting from her ISP. She can then re-open OE and read them off-line. But if she disconnects after receiving and while OE is still open the emails disappear for ever. So, OK, she's got a solution , of a sort, but it's very irritating. Can anyone suggest why this is happening and/or a better solution? Her ISP is a local IT company.

Answer:emails disappear; I know when, but how to stop it?

Could they being placed in another folder, say a "Spam" Folder.

Hi I have a xp pc with 2 user accounts, one for me and one for my wife. it is the main home pc for our family.
My wife recently bought a new vista lap top which has a wireless connection to the internet via a router. It is also networked to share files and printers on our home network.
she does not use the home pc anymore but still has the user account. We have removed all her email accounts from outlook express. However when the home pc is turned on she does not receive any emails on her laptop even though the home computer is not logged onto her user account. when we add all her account details back into outlook express on the home pc she recives days worth of emails.
If the home pc is turned off she receives emails on her vista lap top.
What we want is for her emails to just be downloaded on her lap top.
why is the home pc grabbing the mail when she does not have any email accounts on it?

Answer:stop grabbing my emails!

Answer:How do I stop windowscentral.com Emails?

This may not be conventional but you could just move them to your junk folder, or add them to junk so they always end up there. It's bad though that is no way to unsubscribe from the mailing list from the emails themselves. When you sign in to the passport.mobilenations.com site, can you unsubscribe directly from there?

Thanks for your help.

My brother is currently receiving between 10 and 15 porn emails a day. I have tried various things (Ad-aware, Microsoft Defender, System Restore)but still they keep coming. What else can I do to stop them? His ISP suggested Spybot but you have to register which costs about £20, does anyone have any other suggestions? (He is running XPP/SP2 firewalled with Norton)

Answer:Best way to stop pornographic emails?

Spybot is free click hereTry Mailwasher (free) click here - it won't stop them being sent but will allow them to be deleted from the mail server and not downloaded to your PC. Do not use the Bounce option as it simply adds to the crud clogging up the internet.

Good Afternoon, Gentlemen,
I am hoping someone can help me. I have Office Professional 2003 and I use Outlook to keep my emails. I use my ISP’s site to read/write/delete emails and then download them on a frequent basis using Outlook. But I have recently switched ISPs and the previous ISP is still listed in Outlook. I know that Office 2003 is a bit ancient for most people but I would be really grateful if someone could tell me how to delete an ISP from Outlook’s ‘send/receive’ list.
Any and all help most gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.

Answer:How do I stop Outlook getting emails?

Go to 'Tools', 'Email accounts', 'View/change'. That will enable you to delete your existing ISP's email information and add your new ISP's information. Or, you may just want to add your new ISP's information, on the basis that you want to continue to receive emails addressed to your old email address.

Answer:always getting weird emails...how can I stop them

About all you can do is to delete them. If you reply to them, even to "unsubscribe", you only show the sender that the message was recieved and read, thus encouraging more spam.

Question: stop junk emails

help, my daughters computer is a magnet for junk email. she must get at least a 100 a day. I have probably blocked sender at least a 1000 or more, but more just keep coming in. same kind of junk but different names, thousands of them.
I downloaded something named Qurb, so now the stuff goes to that folder first, but you can still view the stuff when you go thru it to find the mail that is legit. and you still have to send it to the delete folder so you can do a block sender on it and it has to open before it will block it. I am getting so tired of this. Is there anything else out there that will just stop it from coming to her computer short of changing her email address.
thanks

Answer:stop junk emails

Download and install MailWasher.
That can be set to delete the junk on the server.
