Preferred Solution: Corsair launches 128GB DDR4 kits starting at $1755

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I recently upgraded my systems (Intel DP45SG) RAM capacity to 8GB from 4 GB. Once installed, I booted up to my systems BIOS and verified the RAM modules have been detected and restored all BIOS settings to default to make sure all new changes have been updated properly. All RAM has been detected and everything looks good in the BIOS. Next, I decided to run Memtest86+ v4.10 to fully test the new modules. Around Test #6 Pass 36% & Test 69% I received four errors (I've attached a screenshot of Memtest86+). After receiving the errors I turned off the system, reseated the RAM modules retested and got the same error. I went ahead and turned off the system, and removed my original 4GB modules and only left the new 4GB modules. This time Memtest86+ passed. I decided to test the other RAM slots to make sure it's not the MB. Memtest86+ passed again. At this point I thought my original RAM modules might have gone bad. I removed the new modules and reinstalled the original modules, ran Memtest86+ and the original 4GB modules passed as well. Now it seems Memtest86+ pass with only 4GB installed but once I get to 8GB it fails.

At this point, I decided to go a few steps further. I left the 8GB RAM installed in the system and booted up to Windows 7. I decided to run Prime95 for 24hrs to see if any errors occur. After 24hrs Prime95 had no errors. I decided to use my computer normally for a few days to see if any issues occurred. After 4 days of playing games for a few hours, watch... Read more

Answer:Memtest86+ V4.10 And 2 Kits Of Corsair Ram (tw3x4g1333c9)

Do a web search for "memtest86+ 8GB". Lots of info on this condition.

Most refer to the need to up the ram voltage when adding 4 sticks to get them to run stable, but it can get more complicated than that.

This thread is typical:
Memtest86+ : ERRORs only at test #6 & only if 4 DIMMs are set - Memory - Motherboards-Memory

OTOH, if you have no symptoms, are you really sick? You might want to apply the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule here.

hi
i currently have a 2x2gb kit of corsair dominator ram installed, DDR3, and was wandering if i can combine them with this kit (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/8028616/art/corsair/4-gb-ddr3-1600-pc3-12800.html) of Vengeance ram because, as far as i can tell, they seem to be the same speeds?
thanks for any info

Answer:2 kits of similar corsair ram compatable?

Your link does not work. Speed is just one of the many variables regarding ram others are timings, voltage requirements, latency, etc.

There is no definitive answer to your question; maybe it will work however I would NOT recommend using ram of different mfg. You are asking for stability problems when doing so. If you must use ram of different mfg, then make sure the timings, latency, and voltage requirements are the same.

Hi, my question could be childish I wonder if someone can guide me.
I am going to place an order but I do not know if  New Vostro 15 3000 (3568)  Core i3-7100U Processor 4GB(4GB×1)DDR4-SDRAM Memory 128GB SSD is faster to edit video/audio or should I go for i5?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

Answer:Is New Vostro 15 3000 (3568) Core i3-7100U Processor 4GB(4GB×1)DDR4-SDRAM Memory 128GB SSD faster to edit video/audio

For video editing, this system is by far underpowered -- you really need a Precision mobile workstation or an Alienware system for that.  If you can't stretch that far, look for an XPS system with hybrid (intel-nvidia or Intel-AMD) video.
Neither the CPU nor the GPU in the Vostro will handle what you want it to do.

Hi,

I would like to increase the memory on my Son's computer, an ASPIRE E 15 (E5-575-51EF) that has a I5-7200U motherboard and a 8 GB DDR 4 RAM memory. The video card is a GeForce 940 MX 2 GB VRAM.

Here are my 2 questions:

1. The computer has two memory slots, can I combine an 8 GB DDR4 memory by inserting a 16 GB DDR4 memory into the second slot?

2. Will this increased memory significantly increase the computers gaming experience playing counterstrike and other online games?

I am not sure if it is worth the $250 investment so a quick reply would be great.

I just installed xp on a Toshiba 1755 laptop that originally comes with ME. When I turn off the computer there is a problem with "power meter" not exiting. After clicking "end no" the screen goes blank, except for the background. The mouse still works, but there is nothing to click on.
Task manager shows no programs running.
After several minutes the screen changes to the "Windows is shutting down" screen.
The computer can then stay here for several more minutes or go to a black screen without shutting down.
Any ideas where the problem is? Is there a patch? Can I disable the power meter program? If so, what is it called as there is no program named power meter on my computer?

Hey, guys I am a total computer noob, that's why I came with this question.
I am planning getting a corsair H80i, it has a sata power connector, the pic:

Beside that I have a Corsair CX750 modular PSU, the pic :

As you can see there is no way that the sata power connector of H80i can directly plugged into the PSU, so I want to know which additional cable I need to connect them together, some link to those webshop would be great thx in advance!!!

Answer:Corsair H80i and Corsair PSU

You do not need any additional cable it connects to one of the SATA power leads from the PSU. - which are themselves modular connections to the body of the PSU

They are Both DDR3 and the Bottom one the more Expensive has a SSD but they both do about the same

Just the one with 1tb will just be slower but ultimatly perform the same but if you want to be snappy and on the move the choice would be the 1200 dollar one or you can get the 800 dollar one and replace the 1TB HD for a SSD and use the one TB as a back up and put it in a enclosure

but at that point the cost would be around the same but if you have the money get the 512gb SSD and buy a back up Drive and your set

Yes, I have an X99 board which fills those requirements.

The latest build of Windows 10, 9879 is having a large problem with Video drivers which cause blue screens.

The configuration seems to work fine in Windows 7 and 8.1. I really can't comment on the performance since I don't run those type of tests.

Answer:T450 DDR4 option

Hi rshair,
Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you again.

As I understand that you have query regarding memory upgrade to DDR4 in your ThinkPad T450
The quick answer would be no as DDR4 RAMs is not backwards compatible with DDR3 motherboards and vice versa. And also the notch has been moved to prevent accidental insertion of the wrong type of memory. Instead of 204 pins, each module features 260 pins in DDR4 Memory.

I hope the above information helped you.

Does it perform just as well as the 7500u version, if better then how.

Answer:Why is Xps 13 7560u DDR3 instead of DDR4

Likely availability - the RAM is low profile and hard-soldered to the mainboard -- the maiinboard would have had to be completely redesigned for DDR4, and it may not be available in large volume yet.
The two CPUs are similar in performance - the -60 is optimized for lower clock speed (and therefore better suited to the small format XPS system).

I need some information about DDR4 memory.
Memory channel - dual. Does that mean it's better to buy 2x 4GB for better performance, or I can buy 1x 8GB and it will be the same quality, performance and etc.?

Answer:DDR4 channels question

2 sticks 4GB of ram:

- Will allow you to do Dual Channel, even though the gains for dual channel are not that impressive.
- Can upgrade to a maximum of 16 GB (4x4), which is plenty for regular usage.

1 stick of ram:

- You will be able to upgrade to 16 GB if you add an extra one, and 32 if you fill the four slots. although I would recommend memory packs, not different batches of ram.
- You don't have dual channel
Personally, I would do 2 x 4GB, 2 x 8 or 4 x 4GB, but that's just me. All ram slots filled looks better if you care about that.

IF I had 32 Gigs of G.Skill DDR4 2800 and wanted to set aside some of that RAM as a RAM DRIVE since it would be so much faster than an SATA III SSD and am hoping that a ram drive would make a great scratch disk for Photoshop and other possible applications.

Long ago, Ram Drives were popular (rather, long, long, long ago) -- but am wondering if it is possible to take some spare DDR4 RAM and create a ram drive to use as a very fast scratch disk for Photoshop?

Thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks

Answer:How to create a RAM DRIVE with DDR4?

It would be faster to use it as RAM for Photoshop. The scratch disk is only used if you overflow RAM. The reason RAM disks are not popular anymore is that there are very few useful applications.

When is DDR4 likely to float up into the market? I'm needing to build a PC with the fastest working memory possible while still remaining 100% stable while running 24/7/365.

If it's going to be over 3 months, what would be my best option for the absolute fastest RAM on the market by that time? I plan to air cool, but will throw a big fan on top of the RAM modules for added stability.

Answer:DDR4 coming? Or what is fastest RAM I can get?

It's a bit early to tell whether a DDR4 will hit this year. But of course, there're plenty of powerful RAM to choose from. I prefer both Corsair or G.Skill, because they have gaming potential. And some of the features are probably good overclocking, and longevity.

As far as I'm concerned, Samsung has manufactured a DDR4 module already, maybe last year.

Hi people,

About 8 years ago I built the current Core2Duo based PC I am using and it has lasted pretty amazingly considering, with only minor upgrades to RAM and GPU.

I am looking to do a new build with future proofing in mind. My question is not so much whether to move to a DDR4 compatible MB (X99 looking at you), but whether or not to do it now or wait a few months for the tech to settle down.

My PC is by no means falling apart, but I am loathe to spend any more money on it really. At max I could probably wait 6 months but ideally I'd only hold out until after Christmas.

What are peoples thoughts on the current range of X99 / DDR4 compatible MBs? I have been out of the loop for a while with these things...

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Question: PC building kits?

Any good PC building tool kits, i'm about to build my rig soon and I wanted to know what would be the best thing to get. >

Answer:PC building kits?

Well, you can buy a "bare bones" type package, then purchase the rest of the parts to turn it into a computer. OR (my favorite) figure out how much money you have to spend and pick out the parts yourself.

There are buying and building guides here at Techspot, this for starters; http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic133075-3.html#post923060

Question: Mobo Kits ?

Can anyone recommend a good mobo kit ? I believe( and hope!) a kit includes mobo, cpu and memory. I dont want to spend more than 150 and had hoped to get one with the AMD barton core and want it to be upgradeable as in fitting a faster cpu in the future. Keep in mind I am fairly inexperienced.

Answer:Mobo Kits ?

I know Novatech do m/b bundles...have a look on their site www.novatech.co.uk. You should be able to get a at least an XP2500 Bartons with 512 of 333 DDR for 150.

I bought one of their bundles a year or so ago and havent had any problems. The M/B was an ECS board and i know a lot of people dont like them but mine is fine

Hey there, I'm a student, and I own a Lexmark X85 all-in-one. Its a pretty nifty machine, but now its become useless because my black ink cartridge is out. I checked at the Lexmark website to find that a black cartridge costs 36.99 American (That's like: $54 Canadian!). With that price, I could buy whole new printer that comes with a black and color cartridge, and the cartridges wouldn't cost so much to replace. (My roomate owns an extra printer: An Epson).

I was going to buy it from him, and stick that extra printer in my room, but Doesn't that defeat the purpose of an all in one? To save space? It certainly is nice to have my printer, scanner, photocopier all in one compact machine. Saves a good deal of space in my little rented room.

So instead I bought an ink refill kit (about $50). I drilled a hole into my black cartridge and filled it with ink. It Still doesn't work though. The tech support guy at Lexmark said: Those ink refill kits haven't passed "Lexmark safety approval" yet, and using them will damage the printer over time because the printer tries to force the ink out of the cartridge to no avail, so it keeps trying and trying and wears out the motors.

Is this guy full of it? What should I do?
Does everyone just buy new printers all the time? Is there a landfill full of printers somewhere?

Answer:Ink refilling kits - Do you use them?

I'm not exactly sure where, but you can get cartridges for a fraction of the price on the Internet. My dad buys Epson ones online for about $5 instead of the $30 that Epson charges.

But I would not buy it from Ebay, because you can get it from a respectable online retailer for 24.98 (External Storage 5.25"/3.5" HD/CD/DVD RW Case with USB and Firewire) click here. You may find cheaper if you search more, but blankdiscshop (svc) has a lot of satisfied customers.Really cannot understand why buy computer stuff from ebay when new ones can be bought from respectable on-line retailers for slightly more.

Question: Tune up kits

I've noticed you can buy tune-up kits with MB / Chip / Graphics Card that are pretty cheap. I wondered if you can use something like this to fix up an old OEM computer and whether there are any compatibility issues I would need to look for? For instance, will all RAM work with all MBs? Will I have problems installing my XP that was on a different MB before and, if so, can I get a new validation code?

Answer:Tune up kits

As far as the RAM portion, you will have to have the type that is compatible with the motherboard. All are not alike, as far as speed, density, etc.
I believe you will need to get a new activation key code, due to this "project" would look like a brand new machine to MS.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe thats how it works.

Question: Diagnostic Kits

Sometimes it can be a bit tricky, trial and error, getting to the actual fault on a PC/Laptop. It could be RAM, HDD, Mobo, CPU etc etc.
I have been looking at Laptop/PC Diagnostic kits as a time saver. They all seem to claim that they can diagnose a fault in seconds. They seem to range from 30 up 2000.
So my question is does anyone have any experience of these, do they actually work and are they worth buying?

Hey guys,
Im building a new system. I have purchased the G1 sniper 3 mobo and G skill 2x 8gb ram kit. My intention was to later on get another 2 x 8gb kits and fill the spare slots. Was looking on the G skill website and it says that ram kits should never be used with an additional kit even if they have the same part number. Is this correct?
I had looked into this before purchasing and my understanding was that as long as there the same they should be compatable. I realize that you might say 32gb is overkill anyway but will want it to run CAD applications in the future and figure the ability too add more could be handy.

ps. In case you were wondering, I could have built a workstation but it is my private computer and want it to play games well too

Answer:multiple kits of ram

No matter how much you add, your machine will most likely use less than 3 GB's of RAM. Extra RAM can be put to use with RAMdisks or virtual machines, but other than that, lies idle and slows down everything. There really is such a thing as too much. Watch your RAM usage (or set up a monitor to log the usage every hour or so over a month) and you'll see what I mean.

I have no ideas what they mean about kits not being used together. It seems that they should be fine if the machine can support them. Do they sell larger kits that they would rather sell you and that is the reason they don't want people to make their own packages or something?

Hi, I bought HP AU116TX from HP and it came with 4GB RAM. I want to upgrade my Ram and i believe one ram slot is free and i thought of upgrading 8GB Ram in that slot but there comes a big question. Which one to go for? I did a lot of research and crucial is out of option sicnce they support only HP-Compaq series. Corsair Vengenace is an option but im not sure if i can go with it and im not sure whats Max MHZ Ram my Laptop supports. CAN any one help me out.  ALso i couldnt find Vengenace with 2133 MHZ. Internet searches list only 2400 MHZ.

Answer:Best 8GB DDR4 Ram Module at 2133 MHZ for HP AU116TX

Your Manual: Manual See p. 35. It actually has 2 slots so if you want to upgrade to 8 gigs you only need another 4 gig module. You are definitely better off with 2 identical modules because of the "dual channel" thing and 8 gigs in dual channel is generally better than 12 in single channel as you get with mismatched modules. It will accept DDR4-2400 modules but downclock them to 2133.  Two SODIMM slots - customer non-accessible/non-upgradeable DDR4-2133 Dual Channel Support (DDR4-2400 bridge to DDR4?2133) Supports up to 16GB max system memory 4 GB 2133 MHz 1.2v DDR4 shared 820569-0058 GB 2133 MHz 1.2v DDR4 shared 820570-005 https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC4-17000-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B015HQ9SI6/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=... The above link lets you pick either a 4 gig or 8 gig module. The popular memory test program MemTest86 has been updated to version 6.0 yesterday. The new version introduces several new features and many changes of which the most important one is support for DDR4 RAM.

Support includes DDR4 RAM hardware as well as retrieval and reporting of DDR4-specific details

The new version of MemTest86 works like the old in many regards. It is still provided as a standalone disk image that you need to copy to CD, DVD, USB Flash drive or other removable media that you can boot the computer from.

It displays an options screen during boot that you can use to run various memory related tests. All versions of Memtest86 5 and later support dual-booting which refers to booting a version of the program compatible with UEFI or BIOS.

If you have downloaded the latest ISO image of the memory test program and run it on a machine not supporting UEFI, you will notice that MemTest86 4.3.7 is offered as an option instead of the more recent MemTest86 4.0 that was released yesterday.

Both versions will run a test automatically on start automatically. You can open the start menu in version 6.0 which displays various information about the computer and test configuration options.

From here it is also possible to configure and run the new RAM Benchmark option with options to write the data to a file (only if writable space is available).

Another new feature is the so-called Hammer Test which you find listed in the test selection menu. It has been specifically de... Read more

im stuck on what ram to buy now,i have no idea which one are the better to buy here.I have corsair xms2 with timing at 4-4-4-12,where the dominators are at them same timing. Now,can someone please tell me what one is the better buy cuz i dont know jack about ram..All i know is that corsair, gskill, kingston are the top of the line ones.

Answer:corsair xms2 or corsair xms2 dominators?

The Dominators have "DHX (Dual-path Heat Xchange), EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles)". Other than these extra features, they're the same from what I can tell.

If you have RAM with the same timing (4-4-4-12 XMS2), I wouldn't bother trying to get RAM that just has more features that won't make a noticable difference in performance. I doubt you'd be overclocking (which most likely wouldn't make much difference anyway), and I'm sure regular XMS2 RAM will be fine for SLI. As for this "EPP", again I doubt it would make a noticable difference.

Better isn't always cost-effective, and bragging rights aren't worth burning a hole in your wallet. I think I've stressed this enough before.

Everytime we get a ticket for a T410 (Or similar model) keyboard failure we request a tape kit to be sent with the new keyboard. This is what Lenovo sends us:http://i41.tinypic.com/v7v8ya.jpghttp://i39.tinypic.com/264nua0.jpghttp://i44.tinypic.com/2hxmts9.jpg We've all seen these pictures before floating out there.  Why is Lenovo continually shipping tape kits like this? How hard is it to put these in an evelope or simply put them in the same box a keyboard is shipped in? Here's a novel idea: Send us an entire roll! Seriously Lenovo, who do I need to talk to? We deal with scores of these keyboard issues every month. It was funny to begin with, now it's just getting annoying.

Answer:Keyboard tape kits

Haha... that's hilarious. What is a keyboard tape kit used for, anyway?

Question: Root Kits/Removers

Hello Everyone,

This i would like to see if Any of the fellow techs here could help out, or just anyone that might of come across any.

I was hoping to locate a good root kit remover/unhooker(rename) file. I have used a couple. One is rootrepeal which is no longer being updated and or supported, I have used Rootunhooker. hoping to find some to help find unknowns from legits-
W/ Kernal modes w/ call backs. To help combat these newer versions of TDL4's-MBR hooks, aswell as the files assc.(trojan horse cryptic CWW &CYK, and exploits to Java as well as Flash.

Answer:Root Kits/Removers

Hello Sixwheeler,

Have you got a rootkit? Or are you just looking for prevention?

Rootkits are nasty pieces of work and require very powerful tools to remove, such as Combofix, do not use combofix unless instructed to do so by a trained professional.

aswMBR is a tool made by the Avast corporation. It is a diagnosis and removal tool capable of removing TDL4/3, MBRoot (Sinowal), Whistler and other rootkits.
aswMBR
TDSSKiller is a tool made by Kaspersky. It is a specific removal tool for the TDSS strain of rootkits
How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)?

aswMBR shouldn't be used unless instructed to do so, but TDSSKiller can be run fine without an expert present

As you can see, anti-rootkit software tends to be removal tools rather than protection

I don't know of any real time rootkit protection software, just use a good AV such as Microsoft Security Essentials and come back here if you have any infection

Upon googling it, I found this: UnHackMe - First Boo****ch AntiRootkit - Greatis Software

Looks like it's the sort of thing that you're after, but I don't know

Would you please recommend a refill kit suitable for a Canon S630.Please say ?Was delivery good. Were the directions easy to follow. Were the printing results as good as compatibles. My Canon indicates the magenta ink tank is low, how does the software know ? I don?t think Canon use chipped cartridges? Thanks David

Answer:Refill Ink Cartridge Kits

...it's an eternal quest :)But why mess about with refilling, is it really worth the effort?I'd go for compatible cartridges and I'd recommend InkMasters - be careful, as some makes can clog up the printhead. I've tried several others and been disappointed (can't remember their names, and probably shouldn't mention them here anyway!). But InkMasters' cartridges have been performing well now for several months in my Epson. And they have a daily Special Offer (well, it says updated daily, but they are still offering 3 for the price of 2 on Epson cartridges, which is what I ordered)click hereThey also do Refill kits if you really must:click here

I'm just curious, but if I purchase a 1 GB Dual Memory Kit ( 2 X 512 mb ) is there a difference between that and just two different sticks? Are these designed to work together? Their timings or something? I ask because my Mobo doesn't support dual channel, and it is cheaper to purchase the kit than a 1 GB stick. Would I be better off with just a 1 GB stick? I have 4 RAM slots and I was wondering if Two more sticks of 512 would be very different than just one stick of 1 GB.

Answer:Dual Channel RAM Kits

A dual channel kit would work fine, but if price is an issue I'd go with a basic 'set' of two 512 sticks which would be cheaper than a guaranteed dual channel kit

I recently found a 512MB RAM card or whatever the heck its called inside my old computer, I researched it on the manufacturers website (Centon) and it turns out that it is compatible with my current motherboard.

It says on the label that it is a Centon 512MB 1GBDUALPC3200 2 PC KIT....I only have one of them and not the other and just wanted to know if I can use it in my computer without having the other one installed that came in the kit same at the time.

P.S. - If this helps at all I have a ECS Elitegroup P4M800PRO-M (1.0) motherboard with a
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06GHZ (2 CPUs) processor and 1024MB of RAM.

Question: Case Modding Kits?

For those out there who have modded their cases, did you buy a case modding kit to do so, i bought one for my desktop and really could get the perspex to fit in the black rubber for around the edges, i took it to the mechanic and got him to do it for me because it was like a windscreen. So what did you do?

Answer:Case Modding Kits?

For My window I cut a hole with tin snips and an angle grinder, leaveing about an inch of extra metal. Then I bent the extra metal over and hammered it flat to form a nice smooth rounded edge. I bought a piece of lexan and glued it in from the back with liquid nails. easy and looks great without the hassel of the stupid rubber.

Hello,

I wanted to know if it was possible to achieve an 8 gb setup by using 2 sets of 4gb kits.

From every article I've read so far, I was told that to achieve dual channel on both channels you simply needed all 4 chips to be identical (exact model). But I wanted to verify if there was some stipulation I wasn't aware of..
