Chrome not saving particular form data.

Question: Chrome not saving particular form data.

Okay, so this is weird. I've tried numerous google searches about this and nothing has come up.

Google chome is not saving only particular form data, for instance my username: therealdrag0. Also my main gmail account name isn't saved. It's so annoying. Other stuff I put in, other emails in the same form, are saved, so that when I come back they drop down, but my main one isn't.

Any thoughts?

Preferred Solution: Chrome not saving particular form data.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

So, subsequent to my previous thread...

(Basically, I have an Access database which is to be used by many users to make changes).

...once the record has been amended, I need to allow the user to either "save changes" or "exit without saving". At the moment, the data is updated as soon as I leave the form - how do I get round this?

Answer:Solved: Saving (or not) changes to data in a form in Access 97

If the user does not want to save the changes (or additions) they can press the Esc twice to "Undo" the Actions.
However if you want to have a second Button that says Close without saving then before the button's VBA code Docmd.close enter

I have a form to update the hardware of a PC for an asset database (see image attached), it features a main form which shows the current information for that computer and a subform which creates a new record for that PC with all the new information. The problem is that when i enter new information into the subform and click onto the main form it automatically creates and saves the new record which is what i want to stop.
I would like the subform to save/cancel the data entry through the save and cancel buttons i have rather then it creating a new record automatically.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! I got this problem!

I have 2 forms. A main form and an extended form. I want to pass data from a field in the extended form to main form and save it in the main table. So the field's name in the extended form is: txtBDiluentLot, the name of the main form: BondSparF and the name of the extended form is BondDiluentF. I have written a code:

In access, I have a field that connect to a popup form for selection and after selecting the data required, the data did not print in the field. How can I have the data in the popup form to be printed in the field.

Hello - I am currently building an "Agent Journal" Database. This will be an area where supervisors can enter "Journal Entries" for their direct reports. The way it is currently setup is: The Supervisor form pops up. Supervisor selects their name from a dropdown, and select a command button. This opens another form with another dropdown that lists only the selected supervisors direct reports. Once the "direct report" name is selected, they will hit another command button that opens the "Journal Entry Form" On this form, there are text boxes for Supervisor and Agent. These fields are auto-populated based on the names selected on the previous 2 forms. There is also a combo box where they can select a "reason" from a dropdown menu, and a date picker so they can enter the date. The problem that i am having is: The data entered into the final form will not save to a table. I want to maintain the auto-populating of the Supervisor and Agent names when this form opens, and i want to have them select a command button to save all of the data on this form to a table. Can anyone help me with this????

I built a form called PO Log that contains input text boxes that the user can enter the different iputs that will add an existing row to the worksheet called PO_log. I have the add function working perfectly. But I want to add a function to the form that if the record/data already exist using the PO number as an identifier, to udate the existing record/data rather than adding a completely new row of record/data. We use acrobat to create fillable forms. There has always been one problem, we have never been able to save the form with all the fields filled in. If you click on "File/Save" or "File/Save as" a blank form is saved.

We would also like to have an e-mail link that would send the completed PDF. Instead another box comes up and forces you to save the data and sent that as an attachment. Most of our users are technical enough to figure out how to import the data. Or, they are too busy and just want to see a completed form.

I read something about a "rights-enabled PDF Document" - however, I can't figure out how to get a document set up to be "rights-enabled". Any suggestions?

How do I get it to save user data to the server and later allow me to retrieve data?

I have been using a particular database that will no longer let me changes to one particular form. I can make and save changes to other forms and all other object types, but not this form. I tried copying the form with no apparent results. when trying to copy it, it offers the name Copy of... If I try to copy it again it offers Copy of Copy of... No copies are made. I tried to rename the form, but it reverts to the old spelling. I looked at the properties, but found nothing that stood out as a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am working on a user form in Microsoft Word 2002 and have been having problems saving it as an html format. I am currently trying to save it as "Filtered HTML" using VBA. I have the same problems however even if I try to save it as unfiltered HTML.

Anyway, it is a protected form with various types of form fields. When saving as html, the text box form fields show up fine, but the other types of fields (drop-down and check-box) do not show up.

If anyone has any ideas about why this is occuring or possible solutions, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks!!

Hi,

I have a form that needs to be filled in for several hundred letters, containing (legacy) checkboxes and (legacy) text form fields.

Now, I have found a macro/add-in that will allow me to perform a mail merge and save each letter created to a separate word document (link here http://www.gmayor.com/individual_merge_letters.htm ).

What I can't find is a way to create those merged letters/documents with the text form fields intact -- according to MS in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286841 performing a mail merge removes all text form fields, but they provide an example of a macro that will perform a mail merge that retains the form fields BUT it outputs all the letters to a single document, while I need to spit each letter into a separate document.

Could anyone help me combine the two macros so that I can get my form *with text fields* mail merged to *separate* documents? I have no idea how to code in VBA unfortunately... I am using Word 2007 on XP if that is of any relevance.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated

Using the latest Chrome build on Windows 7 I can't seem to find what used to (I think) be a feature a while ago in most browsers. A frequently visited webpage with a search field, when clicked, would show a list of recent searches performed on that page in that field. I'm not talking about search engine autocomplete or suggestions. I'm not talking about form fill (i.e. personal information). I'm not talking about omnibar search history. I'm simply talking about a specific field on a specific page keeping a history of searches. This was in the form of caching or something similar but I cannot see an option to enable this in Chrome and cannot find any references to this on the internet. How to enable this option? We have an internal site at work which I often perform searches in and suggestions of recent searches on that page would be very convenient.

I am trying to follow some instructions regarding Google Chrome. The instructions simply state #1 Open Google Chrome, #2 Click in the Google Chrome Form Field.
 
My problem is when I open Google Chrome I cannot for the life of me see anything that says "Form Field" or anything that appears to be a form field that I can click on.

I was not sure just where this question fit.

I sort of learned a new trick = saving web pages.
This new trick brings on two new questions:

1. When I use the Chrome menu item "Save Page As", besides putting the desired web page in the intended folder, it also adds a folder with the same name; this folder will include several bits and pieces, some image files and other stuff; what is this folder; what service does it perform; and, do I need it to view the saved web page?

2. Once I have a web page saved to a folder, can I then view this page regardless of whether I have an internet connection ?

Since this morning I haven't been able to save anything when using Firefox or Chrome. If I click 'save page as...' the Windows Explorer box opens but doesn't display any folders and the 'not responding' comes up. Save for images and pdfs. IE and Safari are perfectly OK.
I've uninstalled and re-installed both Chrome & Firefox but it hasn't made any difference.
Anyone any thoughts on what's gone on?

I found my C drive filling up; found assorted numbered directories at C:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings\Application data\google\chrome\application. Date modified for all but the last is months behind, usually about a month apart, and it looks like it's all the same type of stuff. Had this type of thing occur with a friend using Norton 360, nearly 80% of her hard drive was filled up with Norton's old virus definitions. What gives, is Chrome becoming junk?

I have a form to fill in data from the Matrix table but I want to lookup a PBXID and have the First Name and Last Name fields on the form automatically fill in.

It seems to me that you should be designing a database to drive your webpage (site). The form would be used to update the database and your display page would be generated by the database. Dreamweaver Help can get you started if you look at 'Developing Applications Rapidly'. Will the users be remote, which is why you are going down the webpage route? Will it be an intranet for your office?

The names, email addresses, and scrambled passwords that I use in my logins
and forms have suddenly disappeared. I am now compelled to retype the whole
ball of wax each time it's asking for it. Has a check-mark somewhere gone

You should never validate form data by JavaScript. Depending upon how it is coded, around 10% of your visitors will find either a form that fails to function or a form that is not subject to any validation. If the latter is the case, it obviously presents a very easily utilised and serious security flaw to any malicious user, who simply needs to disable JS....If you don't want to or cannot write your own PHP program that includes validation, that's understandable, but there 'net is full of resources for off-the-shelf PHP form processors. A few of which are actually very good. click here for one of them or search through Hot Scripts, etc. Even a basic array check that exits the program when bad words* are found is better than nothing. I've researched this far and wide, and I have yet to come up with a solution.

I recently did a series of password updates and changes to various forums and websites I usually go to, but in the midst of my mass changing (my old email was somewhat comprimised so I changed most of my personal data) I have forgotten a few of my new passwords and "secret question" for security purposes.

My question is if there is a way for me to view / browse the web form data I had SENT from my computer to retrieve this information? I'm not exactly where to look for programs / information to do this, is it under Post Data, Web Forms, in my cache, history...I'm lost

I'm the idiot that never enables "remember this password" for auto-complete, so I'm thinking the outcome may be dim.

Hello, I am trying to copy data (fields) from one form to another and I found a VBA code as follows:

Create the command button on the form and double-click it in design mode.
You now are the VBA mode for that button in the click event.
Simply add all the fields in this form:
Anotherform![fieldname] = Me![fieldname]

I tried but im getting the following error message:

"run-time error 424

As copying data is not supposed to happen in Relational Databases, data should be referred to.

Cannot save form data in IE7&8

Windows XP SP2 IE7 latest SP
Windows XP SP3 IE7 latest SP
Vista Ultimate SP1 IE7 latest SP
Vista Ultimate SP1 IE8 Beta 2
The PC in question went through the above migration and at no time
did AUTOCOMPLETE ever work.

The AUTOCOMPLETE checkboxes are indeed selected under CONTENT TAB
and ADVANCED TAB in IE options page.
Autocomplete web addresses works.

Computer history -PC was made from corporate image and I suspect a
very very special and well hidden group policy may be enabled.
Examples: Autologon disabled and remeber NTusername for Windows
logon were disabled. That stuff was easy to find and fix.
Tried so far.
Removed IE7 and IE8 numerous times.
Cleared TEMP internet files
Rebooted after changes
Cleared save autocomplete options cleared password and form data,
rebooted.
Turned autocomplete on for all 3 fields.
Reinstalled IE7 many times. Upgraded to IE8.
Removed IE8.
Reinstalled IE 8.
It just won't save any form field in any web page I visit.
I browsed for an hour Group policy, found internet explorer in two
places (computer and user) everything set NOT CONFIGURED.
Nothing found in LOCAL SECURITY POLICY either.
I even added a new user added to ADMIN group and that person has
same issue also. So not applicable to my admin username.
The only clue I have is the following
In the registry in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Intelliforms
there should be 3 subkeys

Storage1
Storage2

Question: Data form Browser

I am looking for some sort of program that can be used to control a web browser. I wish to take data from a web site and then manipulate it and then use the manipulated data to: insert data, press buttons, refresh the page etc.

Can this be done without any real knowledge of any programming? What sort of software can do this? Is there software available for download that can do this?

I have a very large file that records our staff Annual leave and other absences. but all the information has to be entered by me, when people request leave via e-mail or via paper leave forms.
I would like to be able to automate this, the best way would be for a form to be sent via e-mail. If it could some how then update my existing data base this would be great.

I recently did a cleanup on a users laptop, effectively nuking all of his form data to a miriad of websites he had usernames/passwords saved for. Not a happy guy right now.
He has a desktop that has all of this data intact. Any way I can "export" this data back to the laptop ? Not sure if the data is stored in reg keyes or temp files on the HDD.
User is running IE on both systems. He actually running Firefox as well... form data on desktop is also intact. Need to get that exported too... but one thing at a time.

Question: Deleting Form Data

In XP under Tools, delete browsing history. On clicking delete you are presented with several options, one of which is delete Form Data. This gets rid of names/words you've previously used in search boxes. Like Google for example.This worked on my previous comp but won't work on my present one.Has anyone any idea as to what is stopping it from deleting?

Does anyone know where IE's auto-complete form data is stored in the registry??

I want to be able to make a batch file/registry file to clear the contents during the logon process but don't know where the details are stored.

I'm not referring to the typed URL's...just the form data, like the drop down lists from search boxes.

i think the following keys are involved but not too sure:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG
HKEY_USERS\*******\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Cached

Further to my previous post, i'm not sure that those registry keys are relevant at all.....I took a snapshot of the registry before clearing the autocomplete data and one afterwards and then compared the two and those two keys were modified but I repeated the process and it was different so i'm even more confused now

I have used the search option prior to making this new thread in order to find an answer to my question but I couldn't quite find what I was looking for.
Here is my problem.

I've made a website in PHP in which it is possible to search for data which is stored in a phpMyadmin database. This data is categorised in several different categories.

I have also made a seperate page which is only accescible by password.
What I'd like to do is to make it possible to add more data to the database from the website itself (after having logged in with the password) via a form.
The whole logging in thing works just fine but I haven't got a clue how to make it possible to add more data with a form.

To see what's going on, you can try temporarily putting error_reporting(1023); at the top of the PHP code and removing the @ sign to display all errors/notices. If you still get nothing, the script is probably not being run. Perhaps the session is not being propagated correctly? It could also be some other technicality. (I did notice the $genre line was not completed.)

I am trying to retrieve history from early this morning, but chrome is only going back a certain amount, however it has history from previous days.
Is there a certain amount that it holds per day and can this be changed.

I don't recall anything happening to cause this, but since a few hours ago , everytime I open Google Chrome, all of my preferences are deleted (I am no longer signed in, bookmarks are gone, apps/extensions are gone) and I get this message: http://i.imgur.com/5n7Am.png

Uninstall using CCleaner
Reinstall
Second attempt:

Clean registry using CCleaner
Delete installation folder*
Run Google's registry edit to 'manually uninstall'
Restart

*Most of the files and subfolders within this folder were removed, except for Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Preferences.
I try to delete it, it's in use (Chrome is already uninstalled and registry hack applied). I try using Malwarebytes FileASSASSIN. No use. I tried using Unlocker, and it said that it was not locked but I try to delete it and it tells me it's locked.

I found some searches that were in a google search window in Internet Explorer. The only way that I know of getting any searches there is to actually type them there. These searches were of questionable nature. Before I blame others for these searches, I was wondering if there was any way for these entries to get there, such as spyware, etc...

Hi, Malware does some strange things, so I would not put the idea that they could load some search windows totally away... they often install some pretty nasty Favorites links for you, as an example...
Check your Favorites list> all of them, for strange or adult sites. Probably, another user has done the googles...

Would you consider posting a Hijackthis log so we can help spot problems?

Download the file to a folder you previously made just for hijackthis.exe...a permanent folder, created in Program Files folder, for example. Run hijackthis.exe from the folder it is stored in, hit the Scan button and wait a few....when you see the Save Log tab come up, save your log as hijackthis.txt, which opens normally with Notepad.
With the logfile open, hit the Reply button as if you were going to post a Reply to your thread....go to the saved log, at the top, Edit>Select All>Edit>Copy come to the blank reply, click once inside the space, then back at the top of your browser, Edit>Paste and the log should appear as your reply, then submit the reply. Some one will review it and advise.

HI - I'm trying to enter data in an Access form. It works fine from one table, but when I link 2 tables it won't let me even if the Edit and Dataentry boxes in the property sheet are yes. The two tables have an 'undetermined relationship' without referential integrity, which may be my problem, but how do I figure out what is allowable in the 2 table relationship? It's Windows 7...the 'error' is it's greyed out - uprseponsive.

Hello.

I have a MS Word Form that is delivered to it's users as a locked document. The reason for doing this is supposed to be "ease of use" because of the "easy tab" feature of going from form field to form field, and also to prevent the user from manipulating the form or changing it's appearance. (The "users" are my employees - inspectors - who enter the results of their inspections into the form).

The user must first unlock the form to enter the job # into the header and then re-locks the form and begins to enter the rest of their data into the body of the document. The problem is that some of the users always seem to find need to go back and unlock and then again relock this document.... either to change some information or use spell check... If the document is re-locked after data has been entered into the form fields, that data instantly disappears. Vaporizes. It's gone. There is no way to go back and get it. No "un-do".

Does anyone know a way to prevent this from happening? We're all actually pretty happy with the way the form works right now except for this little detail, so I don't want to go away from it entirely. I do have reasons for wanting to stick with a locked document, too (so it can't be altered after being sent to clients, etc). All I need to do is STOP the program from devouring our data the second we click that lock button again.....

Hit Alt+F11
At left, open your document so you can see This Document underneath it.

Paste this code into the code window at right:

Close the VB Editor.
On your document, create a toolbar button to run the macro.

We could create a toolbar for Unprotect and Reprotect if you like, but requires a bit more VBA coding.

Otherwise, they can only use the Reprotect because macros cannot be run (except by a separate toolbar button) when the doc is protected.

I have a problem with my database that I cannot get my head around. I can email it to be looked at if required. As far as I know I had normalised the tables and all was fine. However there have been some design changes and I am now stumped. I have a table that contains aanything between 20 to 40 records at a time, ([Timetable]), listing details of teaching classes. These records will never change much or be added to a lot. There is a junction table, ([Junction_Timetable]) connecting it to the main students details table and this table will contain all students who are scheduled for particular classes. What I wish to achieve is when a user opens a form, (from table [Timetable], and subform, (from table [Junction_Timetable], after the class has been held they can edit which students have attended and can then somehow save all the data from both forms to a completely different table, ([Completed_Classes]). This is required so we have got historical data on all classes held and students attending or not attending. I did receive good advice on here when I normalised the original table design and was hoping for help again. I have put a lot of thought and effort but my mind is fuzzy with it all. It is probably simple and I am probably capable of working it out but I cannot seem to nail it down. OBP you have already seen the table structure a number of weeks ago but if you need to see it again let me know and I can send it to you.

Hi all. New install of W7 Ult, and fully updated. I use webmail for my Comcast email, and also my personal website email (different address, obviously)

With auto complete on, I open IE11 to my Comcast email, and enter my email address & pwrd. Both are remembered.

I then open the link to my site email, click in the email field, and the email address previously entered at the Comcast site is there.

How do I get rid of that? Clearing the form data and pwrds from Int Options will get rid of the email address & pwrd from the Comcast site, which I do not want to do.

I have ( should really say HAd ) a raid with 4 40gb drives the raid was setup to strip/mirror ( 1 pair stripping other pair mirroring )

Unfortunatly 3 of the drivers all decided to fail today, 1 had the click of death the other 2 just stoped being regonised by the motherboard.

I have got the machine back up and running with new drives but had to start from scratch, What i need to know is, is there any way of recovering any of the data on the drives.

One of the drives is ok but as it's part of a pair windows can read the data on it

any help would be gratefull

Ok I have created a database, split the database, and provided multiple users with the Front End copy of the data. Everyone is keying in the form and adding records to the table.

I have a little problem.

One user will key in the bulk of the information but another user will need to finish the record. I have a "Find" command button on the form for them to be able to look up a record number but the problem is:

The user that needs to finish the record cant see what the inital keyer has keyed until she goes all the way out of the database and back in.

Is there a refresh button somewhere that will allow all the users to see all that data that has been keyed in at that point? I hope thats clear enough.....

Figured it out . For the readers all I had to do was add "Me.Requery" to the code of the Find Record command and it updated the database before they actually would look for the records.

If you have opened the PDF file from the web I don't think you can just save it.
Try selecting Save as.
Or download the file to your hard drive first.

Hi,

I am trying to create a data entry form for a large database. There is a parent form with 6 forms linked with a one-to-one relationship (due to a large number of fields) and several tables linked with a one-to-many. All have auto update/delete checked. The date entry form uses tab control (across 11 tabs) and subforms for some of the tables. I have two problems...

Firstly, if I enter part of the data for a new record in the form (eg fill in tabs 1-3) and then close it, the data appears in the tables, but when I re-open the form the record does not appear, so it is impossible to complete the data entry.

Secondly, when using the tab key to move through the fields in the table, when I get to the end of a tab control, instead of moving to the next tab control for the same record, it moves to a new record on the same tab.

I am fairly new to access and not familiar with all the code etc behind it, so I would be grateful for any advice!

Allow a customer to go to a HTML webform. Fill out the data, then after clicking a button (submit, next, etc) will create a .pdf form for the to print out with the data inserted into it?

Hi,
I have an excel spreadsheet with many rows and columns. What I need to do is take this spreadsheet data and populate it on a form, like a word form, or even a web based form that I could print. So for each row on my spreadsheet I will need to create a form and the data in column A will need to be populated on one specific field on the form, column B on the spreadsheet will need to be poplulated on a different field of the form, etc...

So is it possible, or is there some program that can do this? - export data from a spreadsheet into defined fields on a form? What I'm guessing is that I will need to create an Access database and it could be driven into a web based form??

Hoping to find an easier way than manual input

Answer:Extracting Excel Data onto a Form

There is nothing I can think of that will automatically do this for you, although there easily could be such a thing out there.
However, you could easily import the spreadsheet into Access as a table and then base a report (for reading what is there already) or a form (for entering more data) on that table. From within Access, you could make a page that you can post onto the web.
Another alternative - if you just want to see the data row-by-row - would be to do a mailmerge into a Word document with the various fields representing the different columns of information you have.
If you could post a copy of your Excel sheet - with dummy data, preferably, and perhaps a Word doc or a page in Excel showing how you want the data laid out.
The more we know about what you ultimately want to do with this the more we can help you.
A VBA whiz could probably whip up some code that would turn your data into an HTML or XML file, for all that matter....

There may be another way of doing what you want, but you need to explain clearly what you are trying to achieve, list your process steps and expected outcome. Also explain the layout of your worksheets. If all you want to do is open another workbook and protect it, based on the value in a dropdown menu then that it pretty straight forward and I wouldn't use the hyperlink method for that. There are other ways, not suggesting they are better but I prefer them as they don't rely on using hyperlinks or formulas which can break.

The requirement is for some non-secure data that is captured in a Form to be emailed on clicking Submit. Works fine in IE. In Firefox the email is not populated with the data. Have tried Firefox Forum but no luck. Hi, I had excellent help the other day when I was talking on this forum, so I decided I would try it again. I have been searching for a way to auto-populate data into a new form.

What I am doing is I have a form that is called Invoices. I have a combo box called Customer Name. I have it set so it pulls the customer names from my Customer Information Query. I have it set to Inherit value list. (I have never used this before) Anyway, it works great except that when a person enters a new customer name that is not in the value list, it will prompt you to add the customer, they click yes and it opens the form to add the customer. This is everything I want it to except that when they click yes I want it to open the form to a new record and already have the new customer name populated into the form. So then all they need to do is add the additional details and save the record.

How do I do this? The way it set up now it opens the form to the first record and I am leary that data entry users will write over that first record instead of opening a new record and re-enter the new customer.

Does this make any sense to you? If so please help!! I know it is possible as I have seen databases set up this way, I just am not as expierenced in doing this.

Hi Vexxum. As long as the DVD is not exposed to sunlight or submerged in water for long periods, it will last indefinitely. With the cost of large volume flash drives going down, many people are migrating to them.

A personal choice really. If the 4.7GB capacity is enough for you then it's a pretty safe storage medium.

my pc still wont work could i use another pc to install xp onto my hdd and then plug hdd into problem pc to solve issueall problem pc says is reboot and select proper boot deviceive disabled network boot set cd as 1st boot priority hdd 2nd i even downloaded linux ubuntu to see if that would work but still have same messagejust dosent want to boot in any wat at allmy mate sugested checking all the cables disabling everything reboot then re enable but that didnt work (made no diference)now only three options get help off internet, take to profesional pc shop or throw it out ide hate to doo the later if the problem has a solutionPlease help if you can ripping hair out now

Need help please.. I need to create a Form with Combox which will display the list of data to the user to select. The selection I want to show is data list in the due date. This will then filter that data and copys the result to a new sheet.
The data is in the other spreadsheet. I have attached the data for example.

I know that there is previous thread along this same line, but I have a different issue. I am a beginner with VBA and have been using examples from the Internet to write my codes. I have a User Form that I created in Excel 2007 that adds the information entered to the first empty row without any problems. Since then, I have been creating a new User Form using the same code, however, I'm getting the "Application-defined or object-defined error". Debugging takes me to the code for finding the first empty row.

I actually just noticed this is happening in more programs than just Chrome...but it all happened after getting my new 23" monitor (upgrade from 19", non-widescreen). Usually I have Chrome and foobar2000 side-by-side, snapped to the sides, but when I close either of these programs and re-open them, they open up very small in a random place instead of where I had them open last. I can't find any settings in either program for this. I've tried cleaning my window size/location cache with CCleaner and it did nothing. I'm not sure if this is a software or a Windows 7 (x64) issue, but I never had this problem with my old monitor hooked up for some reason.

Edit: Apparently they only don't save when 'snapped' to the sides. I'm an idiot for not realizing this before, but is there a reason that they won't save their 'snapped' position??

Question: Data not saving

I have a problem with a program not saving preset data. Possibly due to harlink extenstion with only one piece of software.

I use symbolic hardlinks on my system but I do not know if the following has any bearing on the issue with the software I am using.

The software is a plugin that works within a host digital audio workstation software (Steinberg Cubase and plugin Soundtoys V5) and uses presets for different settings.

All software is legit and registered. I have contacted the developer regarding the issue with no resolve so trying here as the issue may largely be to do with windows.

The associate plugin has been installed with admin permissions and the host DAW software is run with full administrative rights. I have double checked that there are no hardlink main or subfolders used in the installation path for the plugin software.

All other 3rd party plugins work fine when saving presets and using symbolic links of which there's about 60+ 3rd party plugins installed using the main host system, however this particular software is not saving correctly.

It will save the preset name as a zero byte file and reports unable to save at location.

All other plugins work fine even when using symbolic links when saving preset data.

The issue may have been to do with a previous install of the soundtoys software as a phantom install directory is being created during the installation

Hi all. I hope I'm posting this to the right forum!When I want to save a copy of my data (mainly word docs) I simply write them to the cd-rw. However, a few months after doing that I decided to save them again, as some had changed, and more files had been added. So I just copied over the My Docs folder.I would have thought that it would simply update the earlier files, and maybe it did that, but somehow I ended up with 2 copies of everything. Maybe I wrote them twice or something. There were also mp3 and midi files, with the result that the cd-rw is now FULL ! The following questions come to mind:1 Can you delete files from the cd-rw? I tried and couldnt, it said it was "read only".2 Is it possible to re-arrange, drag and drop, etc on the cd-rw i.e. to tidy it up, as it were?Also a strange thing has just happened with my cd-rw. I load it up, right click, go to properties, and it says Used 542 kb Free 254 mbBut when I right click the folder on the cd-rw (My music and Docs) it gives:Size 349 mb, which is more realistic. I just inserted another cd-rw, which is absolutely full, and right clicking gives a size of only 203mb !!?Wonder whats going on?KC

To do what you are trying to do (use a cdrw disc as a big floppy) you need to use a program such as InCD which comes with Nero. This program formats the disc and you can then drag and drop and it will overwrite earlier versions of files. You are probably using winXP which probably writes to the disc in sessions and the disc that says its full has probably been closed and can't be written to again unless you erase everthing from it and start again.

I have a laptop that is a bit flakey and no other machine. I am worried that it is suddenly going to die on me, whilst the majority of stuff on it is of little consequence, I do have a considerable number of JPEG photos that I would hate to lose. I do not have a re-write facility, how can I save these photos without having to upload to a host site?

If your laptop is all you have and it doesn't have a CD burner, then consider either an external CD-R or RW, or else an external HDD.Neither way is cheap, but both give you a chance to save precious data and even clones of your whole operating system.A bulky alternative is to search for a s/h computer which if you ask around, might well be yours for a few pounds, if you are not looking for high spec.

I have fixed a lot of computers, but I have never tried to save data off a hard drive.

How would you do that with the SATA drives? I know with IDE drives you could make them slaves drives.

Do you have any problems with old OS being on it? Can you just take it out of the other computer and drag and drop?

Most of the ones who don't know how to back up, just want their picture and programs saved.

Do you have to use Ghost to save the data?

As I understand from your post, you have taken a sata drive from one pc and you want to recover the data onto another pc that does not support sata correct?
There are IDE to sata converters or you can purchase a sata external USB enclosure.

Hi, I have a form with a subform. I wish to append and delete records from the form and subform as appropriate. Deletion is not a problem but appending is.
If I wish to append the current record the only way I can perceive is in the append query leave all criteria blank in which case every single record is appended or to enter a parameter value thus appending just one record.
Each record on the subform can have anything up to five records and I want to delete just those each time.
Please can you help?

If more than one lot is sold to the same person , the only data on a new record that needs changing is lot number. All other data would be the same in the new record. Can a button be used if we need to carry over info?

Access 2003

Standard split database with a back end and front end. The form that is being used has one field that is not transfering its data to the table. Its a calculated field. Its called Premium Difference. Its taking one field and subtracting it with another and the total is populating in the Prem. Diff field within my form but its not saving to the table.

Can someone help. Its really probably something simple ..

Hello to everyone on my first posting ever,

I am a novice and a very green user of Microsoft Access but I have taken on the daunting task of trying to set up a database for our local high school lacrosse team. As part of that, I am designing a Data Entry Form to caapture and record the stats for a game and have set up a field with a combo box which requires the user to select the type of stat. If the stat type is a penalty, I would like the form to automatically enable three other fields that I have disabled in order to control entries to those fields. The first disabled field is a combo box with a penalty description drop down list; the second is the duration time of the penalty which is a one decimal number field and the last is a yes/no check box asking if the penalty is a releasable penalty. How do I "activiate" these fields for entry only if the type of stat selected is "PEN" for penalty?

I apolgize in advance for the length of the post, but it must be the preacher in me. Can someone help an old preacher who is too cheap to buy software already on the market which will do the trick and thinks he is smart enough to do it himself?

I am working in a call centre where have a online contact form, when it submits it sends the data directly to the dialler and is then called almost instantly by our agents.
The problem we have is recently our dialler got hacked and we had to increase our security. We had to whitelist any IP addresses that wanted to access it externally.
Since this has happened the form does not send any data in to the dialler.
The website is hosted on Namesco. We have whitelisted the IP address for the Namesco server (where I assume the PHP script is run) and also the IP address for our website where the form is hosted.
None of the above has solved the issue. We now have no idea on what IP address to whitelist on the router to enable the form to start feeding the data in to the dialler again.
We have no idea what to do fix the issue. All help or advice is highly appreciated.

I am trying to make an database of members for a racing organazation.

Each member has a word document which contains the membership form filled out with Word's Form feature. I know you can do Options > Save > Save Form data only, then save for each file, but i'd like to automate the process and save only form data for all of the documents at once.

Secondly, I'd like to import them into an excel spreadsheet. I've used the data import feature, but once again, the process has to be repeated for every single file. I cannot select more than one. Again, I'd like to autmate it. How?

Better yet would be a method to take all the .doc file's form data straight into excel without going to the middle .txt file.

I have a form in access based on tblSubmissionTracker that has some comboboxs that allow a user to select predefined values for records to be updated to tblSubmissionTracker. This all works good.

The fields in tblSubmissionTracker are Country, Sector, Business, Report_Date, Submitted.

Inside the form, I have a subform, subfrmContactDisplay, that is based on tblContacts. subfrmContactDisplay is set to display the following fields from tblContacts: Country, Sector, Primary Contact, E-mail, and some others.

What I want to happen is each time a user enters a selection for country, business in the main form the subform shows the corresponding tblContact record for that country sector combination (each business is linked to a sector, and the sector populates in the main form via a list box linked to a query, which uses the business selected in the main form as a parameter). I also want to be able to edit fields in that record, should they need editing.

I've placed code on the change event of the business combobox to requery the sector list box and then requery the subform.

Through the process of building this I haven't been able to get it to work properly. I've tried playing with many of the options, but to no avail. It sounds like you may be over complicating it.
First of all if you set the mainform to Data Entry = yes it means you can only enter new records in it.
Second you should not need to requery the Subform if the Master/Child links are working correctly.
Can you post a zipped Access 2000-2003 version on here with some simple dummy data.
Or at least post a Screen Print of the Table Relationships and the Forms in design view.

Rollin wrote this code for someone who wanted to dump Word Form Data into Excel. It was quite a while ago so I guess it was for Office 2003 or some such. I have Office 2010 and I want to do the same thing. The code seems to run OK, as it opens the Word files and dumps them in the Processed directory but nothing turns up in Excel. Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all your wonderful work on these boards. Your advice has helped me time and again, although this is the first time I'm posting myself.

Here is my trouble.

I adapted script written by Rolin_Again written for a poster named DougS when he was attempting to move data from a Word Form to Excel. I too need to have my Form in Word as it's a mass email and most of if not all of the recipients of the form will not have Access (oh how I wish they had Access). I have written my Form and attached it for you and saved an Excel Workbook called "Registration". The sheet is also called Registration. When I first ran the Macro I ran into the same trouble the poster did here with the Form opening when I used the macro, moving to the "processed" folder but no data transfer into Excel. I tried the fixes offered in that post but not successfully it seems. I am now having a new error and I have highlighted the line that the debugger points out as a problem (Run-time error '9'': Script out of range).

Any help anyone could offer would be much appreciated. I have never written code so this is all very foreign to me.

Thank you in advance. I have seen how helpful everyone is on these boards and I'm very grateful for the help.

I have a database with multiple records which track training records of individuals. To update a record I open a form using a combo box linked to the table. One of the fields need to be checked against the current date and colour value adjusted as needed. I am using the following code to set the value:

CurrentZoneMonth = DateDiff("m", [ZoneStart], Now) + 1

When the value reaches 1, first month of training window, it flags until the training is completed. The problem is the value is not being set. It works fine when I place it in the FormLoad event, but using the combo box it is only initiated when the form loads. Because of the combo box search, it needs to be placed in the OnCurrent event instead and it keeps causing an error due to Update or Edit method not being invoked.
When the code is in the FormLoad event it will work when I go and manually re-input the ZoneStart value, it updates correctly and changes the field.
Any push in the right direction would be appreciated.

Sorry for all the posts but as I work through the design I think of new ways to make it better/easier which is the main requirement of it. So here's my question, I have a data entry form to at items (Movies/Games) into the inventory. The form comprises of ItemID, TitleID, Title, Producer, Category, Type, HireFee and Copy. I am unsure on TitleID at the moment, but where the title is entered once into the tblItemDetails table, it can be entered numerous times in the tblInventory table so I am considering this TitleID to reduce data usage. Now, is there a way to repeat the entry numerous times without having to re-enter data? As in, there's five copies of a movie, input five entries to tblInventory in one go, rather than having to re-enter all the information again and just have a new ItemID and Copy number for each.

That, or can I just have it so that I enter a new title, e.g. 'Fallout 3' along with all the details, then create a new entry and having title as a combo box being typing and select 'Fallout 3' and have all the other fields auto filled? Because all that will be different is the ItemID which is an autonumber and the copy number...

Sorry if that doesn't make any sense.

Mark, the TitleID (like all repeated data) should only be entered once.
ie the data goes in a table for the Game/Film and then the titleID is used in the inventory along with a Quantity field ie 5 copies) which is updated when the item is issued or returned.
The issuing and returning should be logged in a separate table.
