Problems watching downloads on full screen mode

Question: Problems watching downloads on full screen mode

So I got a nice, big 26" monitor to serve double as a TV while I'm doing schoolwork at my desk.

The problem is, when I blow images up all the way, the tracks seem to separate. Video will eventually lag behind, or even freeze up and then fast forward to catch up, etc. It's distracting.

When I blow up video like this, I expect to see some some bars (depending on wide screen or not, native resolution, etc), plus a loss in overall quality and clarity but this seems odd to me.

Hardware: 260gtx (216), q6600, 4gb DDR2, 7200rpm HD with 16 or 32mb cache, and a 26" Planar with native resolution of 1920x1200 and a 60hz refresh rate.

Software: It's happened in every media player I've used, from WinAmp and WMP to Nero.

Examples:
Downloaded episodes of Dexter are 608x336, at 128kbs and (supposedly) 23 frames/second.
Downloaded episodes of Heroes are 608x352, at 128kbs and (supposedly) 23 frames/second.
Widescreen movies like 1408 come at 652x266, at 112kbs and (supposedly) 23 frames/second.
When I fire it up, everything runs fine for awhile until, eventually, the above problems start to creep in. Distracting any time I want to swap to full screen and watch from across the room.

Preferred Solution: Problems watching downloads on full screen mode

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I'm experiencing a problem with watching videos (YouTube and the like) in full screen mode. My system is three years old with all specs in my profile. Specifically the problem is that when I start a video from YouTube or wherever for that matter, and I click on the box giving me the option to watch the video in full screen mode, the video box will attempt to go to full screen then will revert back to the initial box size. What can be tried to correct this?

Wow with all the techies out here and I can't get anyone to respond to my question?
GEESH! To add to my question, I should say that I'm reasonably sure my OS is clean and clear of all of the virus/spyware nasties.

I am using p500-14L.

When i am watching dvd in full screen on my laptop I realized that my screen pixel is quite blur.
Not as what i we need even i set the resolution until highest 1680 x 945.

Does any one hving the same problem?

Answer:Satellite P500 screen pixel is blur watching DVD in full mode

Hi

If the DVD movie has been recorded in lower resolution then the movie could appear blurry.
You can meet the same issue watching videos on youtube for example.
The movies appear clear watching in small box but if you set the movie to full-screen and increase the resolution then the movie would appear blurry.

So it?s nothing wrong!

This is something that is driving me crazy So I thought I would share & hope someone has found a problem.

2 systems identical other than the CPU, 1 is FX 8350 & the other is FX 8370.
Anyways. System A I use & have had windows 10 installed, updated along with other software I use & so forth. The other, System B I freshly installed windows 10 only, no apps or software other than 1 game I play on system A.
So, My problem is full screen mode & random minimisation of full screen windows. Both systems randomly minimise any full screen windows be it movies or games & both have problems with full screen modes on any game. When I first load up any game full screen, all is as it should be. However if I have to minimise to desktop or the system does it for me against my will, when I maximise the game again, its bigger than my actual screen. I have to disable full screen mode within the games settings & re enable it to fix this.

I've googled & I'm not the only one with this problem & it is really really annoying

So, anyone got any ideas?

I've tried updating the drivers, making sure nothing was overclocked, ram memtest and furmark. memtest found no errors, same with chkdsk and it didn't crash in furmark
my average temp of gpu is 31 degrees Celsius.

It plays sound for a few seconds afterward but then becomes unresponsive to the power button and keyboard so I have to turn the psu off.

Why does my computer freeze up and unfreeze in a cycle when I am watching something in full screen, lets say you tube, veoh or just watching window media player full screen.

The computer will freeze to the point that I can't move until I carefully move my mouse to get to desktop again, this is where it stops freezing completely,
The freezing does not go away immediately, it freezes for about couple more second after returning to desktop then it goes away.

This does not happen immediately though, it takes about 1 min to 10 min for the freezing to begin.

OS is:
Vista 32bit sp1. with latest update from Microsoft
Firefox with latest update

We will need a bit more info before we can hazard a guess.

Can you please tell us the specs and/or make and model of your computer?

Hi,

I have a DELL Optiplex GX520 PC and I have issues when watching videos on certain media players.
There are no problems when I watch on the regular sized player, however when I go to full screen it often restarts or occasionally gives me the blue screen.
There are never any issues on Windows Media Player however VLC, DIV X player and some online players such as YOUTUBE will always restart shortly after they've been switched to fullscreen.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this problem?
Any/all advice would be highly appreciated.

Answer:Computer restarts when watching video on full screen

you could check and see if there is a newer version (driver) for the video card and install it to see if it fixes the issue

I'm using 510 ideapad, having a wired issue. Black screen happened when watching youtube movies on chrome. Black screen suddenly show with sound only after watching a movie on youtube for around 5min, then I move my mouse, press the "esc" button or any other buttons, no action can be done. Black screen keeping on hold, I wait for serverl minutes, still keeping. I finally restart my notebook. It doesn't happen when I'm not using full screen, or wathcing a downloaded movie with movie player.

Hello all, My T400s powers off  5 minutes into full-screen videos and I'm not able to turn it on unless I unplug the power supply, remove the battery pack and put it in again. I first thought it's a problem with the charger (I suspected it may fail to supply enough power when it's under heavy load) so I got a new power supply. But it happened again. So I ran a CPU torture test (the prime95 program) that uses 100% of the CPU. I ran the test once with a video playing in full-screen and once without a video playing. When I ran prime95 (CPU test) alone (for at least 20 minutes) it worked  fine and didn't power off. But the time I ran the test along with a full-screen video, it shut down after 5 minutes into the video. I also monitored the temperature. When playing a video in full-screen it never  goes above 90c. With the CPU test running, it goes up to 97 and then cools down to up 80s. Any thoughts?  Thanks

Answer:T400s powers off while watching full-screen videos

your laptop is shutting down as the result of overheating, do you still have warranty left?If you do send the laptop in. If you don't, have a try at cleaning out the fan and use a new layer of thermal paste on the heatsink.

Hi, I  have this strange issue where when watching Netflix in either IE11, Edge or Netflix App in full screen mode the display would sometimes flicker or goes black for a few seconds then back to the video.  This would happen continuously  every 10 second of so during playback.  I had similar issue with watching YouTube video before, but it was resolved by selecting "Use Software Rendering instead of GUP".  However this does not seem to have any affect on NetFlix videos. I did some troubleshooting and discovered that this issue appears to be caused by Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver.  When disabling the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M driver, the issue still appearing.  However, when disabling the 530 driver, the issue seems to go away but video became slightly choppy. The default 530 driver what came with the PC was .4475 and I have since updated to the latest version .4627.  Updating the graphic driver did not solve the issue and I also did a full uninstall and reinstallation of the driver. I have the latest BIOS for this computer F.11 Rev.A Wondering if anyone have similar issue or offer some additional troubleshooting advice. Thanks

Have you tried checking in Task Manager when this happens and seeing if any processes are freaking out (browser, Flash player itself, something unrelated)? I've not seen this on my end, and would love to know where to look out for it in the event it does occur.

I've been getting a BSoD since updating my nVidia drivers for Overwatch. The error I've been getting is "VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR". I get this BSoD when I am watching a video in full screen on one of my monitors(e.g YouTube, Twitch, Netflix, HBOGO etc) although the crash does not happen every time I click on my other monitor while being fullscreen on a video, it happens about 50% of the time. It has never occured when having something else in fullscreen like a game or anything like that. I am using Google Chrome. I've tried rolling my drivers back and the problem still persists, and so I updated back to the up to date version of the driver.

Answer:BSoD when clicking on 2nd monitor while watching a full screen video

You are very back level on Windows updates. You are at 10240.166, the current version is 10586.318.
Please apply all Windows Updates then test and see what happens.
The dump is pointing to dxggms.sys which is a windows file so not the cause of the problem. Looks like there are problems with your Nvidia driver:

Code:
ffffd001`d9f96c20 fffff800`5a4ff95bUnable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2

*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
nvlddmkm+0x7f95b

Looks like you have version 365.10. Install GeForce Experience and see what it suggests. If nothing newer then give the latest WHQL version a try: Game Ready version 368.22.

Fist do all the Windows updates though.

This never happened before until recently, my screensaver would start while I am watching movies under full screen in WMP, and i am not sure what i did to trigger this. I made sure that the "allow screen saver during playback" setting in WMP is unchecked, and my battery plan for my laptop is set to 'balanced'. I'd rather not have to change my screensaver settings everytime i watch a movie or a show. Any help please?

Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX

Answer:Screensaver starts while watching videos in WiMP under full screen

OK i found out how it happened

Screensaver kicked in while i watched videos in WMP under full screen because I installed a newer version of my Video Card driver. After I reinstalled my driver back to the default version that came with my laptop....movies no longer get interrupted by the screensaver. But obviously newer drivers are important too, so i have yet to figure out how to have latest version driver and not have this screensaver issue.

Hope this info helps people who have the same problem.

I have windows 8.1 when I watch Netflix streaming on some of the older television series when it starts to stream I click on the lower right button to expand the picture to fill the screen and nothing happens. On windows 7 this function works perfectly.

Answer:windows 8.1 trouble watching netflix streaming full screen

Are you using the Netflix app or watching Netflix in a web browser?
I use the Netflix app and always get full screen. However, the aspect ratio on some older shows does not match the aspect ratio of my monitor. However, that is because old TV shows were designed fit old analog TV screens.

I don't know why, but ever since this afternoon, Windows decides to crash complete whenever I'm a few minutes or so in watching a YouTube video. It doesn't do it playing intensive games like Grand Theft Auto 5 yet it decides to do it watching a YouTube video. How Windows crashes is the reason why I'm making this thread.

What happens when I'm in the middle of watching a video is that the screen goes black with the cursor flickering and later disappears as well as the audio cutting off with nothing but blackness. Pressing anything does not make sounds, and nothing appears after a moment of blackness, not even a blue screen. And after restarting, the interface does some strange behavior I've never seen before. The resolution is changed to 800x600 (or 1024x768, I don't know, 4:3 aspect ratio) and the options are even more awkward. The only options through adapter settings (resolution cannot be changed in advanced display settings for some reason) are all in 4:3 aspect ratio with of all the standard refresh rates in PCs is a never heard of 64 Hz applied to each option

Fortunately, things go back to normal after another restart, but the crashing while watching YouTube videos in full screen continue to happen. Now this issue doesn't annoy me to the very core, but it does bother me that such an interruption can happen. I prefer to watch videos in full screen, so I want to know how I can fix it. I don't want to be hesitant to watch something in a preferred mode forever. Let me know ... Read more

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

Has it ever worked? If so chances are its the video driver. Un-install the current one and re-install a fresh copy

Hi I seem to be getting frequent BSODs when streaming videos on youtube or when using other streaming video players if I have them fullscreen. In addition, when I close the game Civilization 5 my computer will often crash to a BSOD.

When I checked bluescreenview there was only one minidump summary, however, I have had probably 20 BSODs in the past week. I'm unsure how many summaries are included in the attached minidump files.

I'm running 64 bit 7 with 4GB ram, an Intel Quad core Q9550 cpu running at 2.83 GHz, GPU is a Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 (up to date) and I use Microsoft Security Essentials as an Antivirus. I have a 700 Watt psu, with a single hard drive at about 60% capacity.

I've been getting BSODs frequently for the past few months but much more frequently lately. Thank you for any and all help, and please let me know if more information is required.

Answer:BSODs when watching streaming full screen videos and closing Civ5

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol 120% software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the programs, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Some free alternatives (I don't use them, so I can't comment on them)

MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor

I'd suggest updating your network drivers from the manufacturer's website also. They date from 2009, so they may be troublesome.

Please post back if this doesn't stop the BSOD's - there's 2 ways that we can go (either running Driver Verifier or hardware diagnostics).

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

Hi,

I'm having a problem with BF2 where the game will crash with a
"BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
error, right after the logo screen. The game doesn't enter full screen mode.

The first time I saw this error was when I was playing around with BattleRecorder (BF2's own recording engine), and I tried to launch a movie in BattleLauncher. This throws the error described above and I can't run BF2 again without getting the error until the computer is RESTARTED (no logoff and back on). I searched for a way to make Battlerecorder work and I gave up. But, the problem now seems to occur when Battlefield 2 is run for a second time. For example, if I turn on the computer, run BF2, play, close BF2, and try to play again without a restart, it crashes. I tried multiple things to fix this problem, and I eventually ended up downgrading my nvidia drivers to 84.21 (i was running 84.25 beta).

I THOUGHT this fixed the problem, but I must have only tried to open the game once when I went and downgraded the drivers, because it still happens. The only things I have installed recently are xfire, and I remember that that program threw me the error whenever I clicked somewhere inside the program to launch BF2 (xfire has a feature to launch bf2 for you so you can play with a friend). I suppose I should uninstall xfire... I'll try that now.

This computer is NEW, its got several games on it but its only a month old and it has no viruses or s... Read more

When I leave my PC idle for more than 15 minutes, a factory-set screen saver engages and displays a slide show of all the Wallpaper images in my Pictures folder. However, periodically it displays multiple images in tiled format.

How can I change W10's screen format to display images only in full screen mode?

Hey,

Whenever I am watching videos online on my laptop (Sony Vaio VPCEC2S0E) the screen freezes. I can still hear the video although the sound has slowed down so much. At 1st i though perhaps it was because my laptop was overheating so I bought a cooling fan for it but the problem still persists.

would be very grateful if anyone could assist me with this.

Thanks
Conor

Answer:While watching videos online my laptop screen freezes and the sound of the video goes into slow mode

Get HWMonitor, and have it open while you are playing the video. See what temps you get on you CPU or GFX.

What cooling fan did you buy?

Hi,I just got a new MCE PC. I can watch TV on the monitor in a window or full screen. When I toggle to watch on the TV set, I can see all my windows and watch the TV in one window. When I go full screen with the TV all I get is a black screen. If I then hit ctl-alt-delete, it switches back to desktop, shows task manager for a couple of secinds then switches to full screen TV BUT with the toolbar across the bottom, so apart from being annoying, I can't change the channels as Media Centre isn't the selected window.Help pleaseDavid

Hi, throughout the past week, I have been having a problem when I attempt to exit from any full screen application. Most of the time, the screen goes completely black, except for the mouse cursor. All inputs are responsive, and I am able to restart the computer using the keyboard, which fixes the problem. The problem occurs if full screen mode is interrupted in any manner(close, restore, minimize, etc.). I am planning to perform a series of tests tonight in an attempt to determine whether the problem is software or hardware related. In the mean time, I was hoping that someone here would have had experience with this manner of problem in the past. Last, but not least, here are the afflicted system's specifications:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ processor
Biostar M7NCD Ultra motherboard w/ NVidia NForce 2 chipset
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(Sapphire)
512 MB PC3200 RAM(2*256 dual channel)
Other system specifications available upon request

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi guys.

When I start a command prompt, and change to full screen mode, it automatically chooses 720x400 @ 70Hz. How do I change this please? It's not an ideal mode for my flat-screen monitor which has a native resolution of 1280x1024 - so for a DOS prompt in Full Screen mode a better resolution if it's available would be 640x512 or 1280x1024... so that each pixel is used a whole number of times. With 720x400 I get fuzzy...sharp...fuzzy...sharp...

Sorry for the long post.
I am having a problem running DOS in full screen mode. I have 2 programs that I need to use in DOS full screen. If I try to go full screen I get a colored bar across the top of the screen(color changes with the amount of colors I am using) and the machine locks up.

The computer is a clone that I just built. It is running Windows 98 SE and Office 97. Here is my hardware specs:

1.DFI AK75-EC Rev. A Motherboard with VIA Apollo KT133A chipset
2.AMD Duron 850MHz processor
3.128 MB PC133 RAM
4.ATI XPert 98 AGP Video CArd with Rage XL chipset
5.Linksys LNE100TX Etherfast Network card
6.On board Sound Blaster audio
7.EMachines 17" monitor

I have changed the resolution from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 1024 and all settings in between. I have also changed the amount of colors used from 256 colors to 32 bit. The only thing that has worked so far was replacing the video card with a PCI card, but it can't do 1024 x 768 resolution with 16 bit color. I know it is not the monitor because I can use a different machine with this monitor and it works like a champion

Question: Full screen mode

Ok I hope someone can please help me because this gets very frustrating for me. When I first bring up a video and go full screen (NFL football game) it works fine except I noticed I have to scroll down a little bit to get the bottom menu bar but the picture is still full screen on my TV (HDMI cable). But the first time I back out of full screen to maybe check an email or something, and then try to make it go full screen again, the window stays the same size but the picture itself is the only thing that tried to go full screen but I can only see about 25% of the actual video in that window. I dont know why it does this but I always have to restart my computer to make it work again but then I am stuck with the same problem once more. Any help? I have looked for remote desktop connections but I dont have any on my computer and I cant change any setting there.

I would advise installing the latest ATI drivers which should come with utilities to give control over screen output. There is normally a zoom function which I've had to use with Intel GFX to get full screen capabilities.

Hope this helps

Answer:full screen mode Win XP

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but you can set Windows to always launch a program in maximised (full screen) view.Right-click on the program's shortcut on the desktop, or in Start>All Programs. Then click on Properties, then the Shortcut tab. Click the down-arrow to open the Run list, then click on Maximised. Then click OK.

I am trying to run IE in kiosk mode for certain shortcuts.

I have full screen mode turned on (F11) and then I remove access to IE to anyone except admins, this gives kiosk mode a close X, retore square, and minimize option(I want users to be able to close the windows without relying on keyboard shortcuts).

If they accidentally click on the restore square, it closes full screen mode. Then the window cannot be closed without ALT-F4.

Anyone know where I can set full screen mode in IE to stay on at all times?

Hi,

I'm having a few problems whilst running things in full screen mode. I'm trying to run a couple of games in full screen mode, but every so often it just minimises and I have to click back to open them up again. As you can probably tell this is extremely annoying.

This doesn't just happen in game however, something else happens even when using Chrome and typing this. As I type right now, it will randomly click off this window as if a popup has come up and I have to click back into this text box to type otherwise it just makes the windows error noise when you try and type in a box that you can't type in.

I have no idea why it's doing this, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
M

I have two displays of which both are running on a single GTX 280. One is a 24" DCLCD monitor while the second is a 42" full HDTV using an HDMI cable. My issue is that when I try to drag a movie in vlc player or any other program over to my 42" TV and try to full screen it, it jumps over on my primary display. No matter what program I use to view a movie in when I try to change it to full screen it flips over to my primary. I never had this issue when I was running my 8800s or pre 180 drivers. I can maximize the program itself but I can't run the move in full screen mode on my secondary display. Also I'm running it in expanded view mode.

Answer:Full screen mode on 2nd display

It is possible - on Nvidia cards.
I managed it the other week.
You need to define the second screen as the (fullscreen) playback device for films, etc.
I can't tell you where just at the moment as it only shows whilst the second screen is active and I'm watching TV

My books about Secret Code Breaking come with a CD (formerly was a 3 1/2" diskette) that is self loading (has an auto run and a setup.exe program on the CD).

The programs are compiled QBasic programs that do not use any special functions including a mouse. Cursor movement is with the arrow keys. Circa 1996-1998.

I "test" the programs to be sure they run on my machine which is a Windows XP platform. I have never "tested" them using Vista, but no reader has ever complained, so I assume they run under Vista as well.

Recently I received this request from a reader.

"Also I have the secret code breaker program 2 on my computer and the only thing that I am having trouble with is the Radio Direction Finder Program when I run it I get this message "this system does not support full screen mode. Chose 'Close' to terminate the application"

I have deinstalled the secret code breaker program 2 and reinstalled and it still did not work If you have ideas that will work I appreciate it (I have only basic computer skills so you might have to tell me step by step what to do)"

When I execute this Radio Direction Finder program on my Windows XP machine is automatically goes into to full screen mode and the program runs (including the Morse Code signal sounds from the speaker).

Is there a method where-by a Windows Vista machine can be shifted into full screen mode?

A more basic question (excuse the pun) is this. Is the... Read more

Answer:XP and/or Vista Full Screen DOS Mode

I don't have Vista and only a few BASIC executables that don't require keeping a window open longer than a second or two so I can't test anything. But in XP if you right-click the executable and select Properties there is a Compatibility tab that would seemingly allow you to run in a larger window. If it works for your user then I suppose they would have to set the option for each executable in Properties, and it would become the default until changed.

Answer:Opening in full screen mode...

You can open first browser window. then click on a link to open a second and with the second drag the corners to the edges of the screen, but do NOT hit the maximize icon. Close the first window, then the second (the order of closing is important). Then do file, close; (do not use the X button), then the next time you open a second browser window, IE saves the new default window size.

Open Internet Explorer
Shift + click a link to force it to open in a separate window
Alt + Tab to return to the first window
Close it, leaving only the small window open
Drag the window edges/corners to adjust the size
Close the resized window

Another way,
Open one IE browser window. Click on a link to open a second.
With the second, drag the corners to the edges of the screen.
Do 'Not' hit the maximize icon. Close the first window, then the
second (the order of closing is important).
Make sure you do File, Close; do 'Not use the X button!
Might have to reboot.

Either way the next time you open a second browser window,
IE saves the new default window size.

Or use

Hello to all. I'm running Win XP Pro and I just recently started having some display problems with a few programs. I haven't added any new hardware or software recently. My problem is this. Some of my games and other programs have an option to go to the full screen mode. However, every time I attempt to do so with any of these programs, Windows XP immediately shuts down and my computer reboots. I can use all of these programs in the windowed mode with no problem. I thought that maybe my DirectX needed updating so I did so. That didn't fix anything at all. I've run diagnostics on my video hardware and DirectX and it tests fine. Does anyone here have any ideas as to what the problem with the full screen mode might be? Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

appears that ie7 is stuck open in full-screen mode. it is located on the right half of the monitor.
left half of monitor still has desktop background and icons. computer seems to function normally other than this.

the stuck ie7 doesnot have the address bar, tool bar, or blue heading bar at the very top of typical ie pages; it does have the menu bar with File, Edit, View, Favorites, etc. the default browser page is google, and stuck ie7 can be used for google search. if so, it bringsup a second ie7 with the search results.

it does not s how up as any application in task manager. and the task manager processes do not show Iexplore.exe running.

av software is mcafee, have also run kaspersky online av check and spybot and nothing unusual was found.

i have restarted and rebooted several times, the stuck ie7 comes back.

tried the F11 key as it is used to bring ie out of the full screen mode but the F11 key has no effect.

Greetings Geeks -

I just replaced my old 960 GTX 4 gig with a new Gigabyte GTX 1060 6 gig card. What an adventure.

First, I knocked my CPU cooler loose. And then knocked my memory loose. Then I realized the old GTX used a DVI-A to VGA adapter and the 1060 uses a DVI-D. So I had to order one online. Then I was getting BIOS errors on startup. Still getting a few beeps. I could not wait anymore to try the card and I figured I would use the correct cable instead of an adapter so I drove to Office Depot and got a DVI-D cable (not cheap, what a ripoff!). Then I got stuck in a Safe Mode loop when I uninstalled the old drivers. Msconfig would not display in Safe Mode so I could not set the computer to restart in normal mode. Despite doing some research I had to figure that one out myself - I had to open msconfig in a DOS box for it to display correctly (patting myself on the back1). I do know what I am doing, so all this was super frustrating! Anyway . . .

Everything works fine - except for some games in fullscreen mode. I get a black screen despite the game running. I cannot force fullscreen with alt-enter, that does nothing. I can't even alt-tab or cntrl-alt-d. I have to do a hard reboot. I tried a few things - tweaking the Nvidia scaling and such in the control panel. I did a total uinstall\sweep of old drivers and reinstalled from scratch. No luck. I have not tried all of my games yet, but the ones I know of at this point that won't run are GTAV and Fallout 4.

Hi People !

Just yesterday, bought a lovely Satellite A300-215 - Intel Core 2 Duo / P8700/ 2.53 Ghz / 15. 4 WXGA / *Radeon HD 3650* / 400 GB
Works like a Ferrari but have a querky problem getting a Full screen whenever I try playing any media, e.g watching footy, movies, the screen just WON'T go *" FULL SCREEN'* :(:(, tried my best changing the display resolutions in the control panel in all possible ways but just can't it up with a Full fledged screen.

Downloaded even an other driver nvidia video driver which matches with the Toshiba books, but that just won't work. The current driver which I have for the dislplay is ATI Mobility Radeon 3650, also seems of no help.

When I try to adjust the resolution fpr the wmp player or spvod player to fit in the whole screen, the page just turns gigantic, unmanageable, it is fine with the notebook functions, no problem. at all, but not possible to enjoy any media- fullscreened.

I would highly appreciate, if anyone could please help me solve this, many thanks in advance ! Cheers :)

I have a Compaq Presario CQ50 laptop and it has a tendency to black out when I play streamed shows in full screen mode. I have to do an emergency shutdown and reboot it in order to get it working again. It happens on sites like Hulu.com, or anyplace using Adobe Flash Player, and only in full screen mode. I updated the latest version of the flash player but it still continues to black out. How else can I fix this?

Thank you.

Dont know the specs that you guys might want to hear about but heres my best guess. I have a p6860Fx gateway laptop, i upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista a few months. At first i lost sound whenever i put the computer in sleep or hibernate mode. then i just said screw it and Dl'd the last known sound driver for my comp which was only the 32 bit IDT sound driver.

that fixed the issue but now whenever i put whatever im watching into full screen mode, i get this static sound and it seems like that video is lagging along with the sound. i did however installed the latest driver for my Nvidia 8800 graphics card also.

anyone got a answer to this, i tried re installing the drivers but that was no go. help please

Answer:Sound issues when going into Full screen mode

Generally, when video is affecting the sound it's the Video hardware or drivers. It could also be a memory (or lack of) issue since most laptop video "cards" use RAM for all or part of their memory.

One thing (or two) to try - uninstall the sound in the Device Manager (do not uninstall the drivers) then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This "refresh" can fix flakey problems and sometimes will also put the sound on a different IRQ (Interrupt) and fix flakey problems. You can try the same thing with the video and see if makes a difference.

Hi,

When i hook up a monitor to my laptop, and play a movie embedded in a website, the external screen shows only a full screen while the laptop screen shows the normal web page, with the video playing in it.

Any ideas?

Weird ha?

Answer:Media player only in full screen mode

Hiya

Which version of Windows Media Player are you using? If its version 10, or even 9, take a look at this:

3.7 How do I get the Player to play in full-screen mode on my second monitor?

Windows Media Player can only play in full-screen mode on the primary monitor. For more information about changing your primary monitor, see Windows Help.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq.aspx#3_7

Are you using the external screen as the primary screen?

hi there
hope i can make myself understandable.

For 2 weeks i suddenly have this problem.

whenever i open up something, it comes up in Full Screen Mode, and not
a smaller window like normal.

If it is a new letter in outlook, Alt-ctrl-del (window task manager), or
pages within a internet site. "in the old days" a new page would open op in ex. Half page size (i know you can decide the size).
but now everything opens up in Full Screen (maximize size), so for me to return to the original page, i have to press the bar in the toolbar in the buttom.
If it would open up in minimize size, but the whole screen, then i can make it smaller, and after a few times, it will automatically opens up in this size.
but i don't have this option anymore.

i have tried to change all kinds of options, but nothing helps.

can anyone help??

have a nice weekend

Answer:windows opens up in Full Screen mode!

Hi

If you navigate to any such program that opens in full size in the Start Menu.. right-click>properties> under the "shortcut" tab>Run .. does it say normal window?

Unless someone changed that a piece of software will open in a normal window. If you resize it by r.clicking in the top left corner and choosing the size, then close the window.. the next time it starts it should be in the size you last chose. UNless, you've changed the options for the software, in its options/properties/preferences whatever is there, to open in full mode. Only a little bit of playing around will lead you to where.

Next time it opens in full screen, hit F11 and see if that changes it back down. Close the software and it should reopen in the same size you left it last.

Hey everyone, I'm having issues with opening some programs into full-screen mode, these programs include; Warcraft 3, Znesw (Emulator) and also Dosbox.

Here is the problem - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kslmBNejfFo

What basically happens is, when I open any of these programs they open, but when I try to engage them into full-screen mode they make then screen black for a second or two and then they are pretty much minimized.
When I try to restore them from being minimized, it once again goes black and minimizes the program.

What I have tried:
-Running a virus scan
-Restarting PC
-Running as administrator, Windows Xp, Vista, etc.

Thank you for your time.

PC Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
8GB Ram
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10Ghz

I am currently running IE 8. On some websites, I can not get it to enter full screen mode. I have tried View->full screen, Alt + enter, and F11. Nothing seems to work.

On other websites, full screen mode works fine. Is this something to do with the website? Maybe some websites don't support full screen mode?

thanks for any suggestions

So for a while now I've had an issue where anything that's in full screen it will randomly minimize. This includes games and videos. I don't get notifications from any programs. Sometimes it'll minimize once an hour and sometimes it'll minimize every 5 minutes so it's totally random. I've searched literally everywhere for a fix and I just cannot find a single one. Please if anyone has had this issue leave you solution here. I'm currently running windows 8.1.

I should probably also say that if i'm running a game in full screen it minimizes but if i have a video playing on a browser in full screen it'll just go to windowed mode.

Every time I use a program that utilizes a full-screen mode, after about 10 minutes the internal speaker alarm will go off. When I ALT-Tab back to the desktop, the alarm stops. I go back to my program, about 10-20 minutes later the alarm starts up again, repeat ad naseum.

I know this is not an over heating issue. Both of my fans are clean and fully functional, and this issue has only happened while in full screen mode. I can be working in Windows at max CPU usage with no issue, but one full-screen program running and this issue happens. I'm at a loss. Suggestions?

All of a sudden (like, these things don't happen s-l-o-w-l-y!!) for no reason I can imagine, windows are not opening in the way I am used to. I can drag the edges to stretch them out but this is kind of a nuisance, and if I click on the little maximize button - top right - I can't move the open window around. I checked the Tools menus but nothing there seems to fit. Any suggestions? What to do? Why this would happen? Thanks.

Answer:Windows not opening in full screen mode

Heh, if you maximize your window using the upper right boxes, you are not supposed to be able to move it around.

About the windows opening not maximized all the way. This used to happen to me, but somehow fixed it self.

Can you be more specific on what windows dont open all the way? IE windows, or system windows; for example, Control Panel.

hey! can anybody help me?
i can`t get fullscreen video on my tv. i recentrly installed win7 and it needs those new forcewares in which there isn`t such function as full screen video. it worked with older versions and on xp.

how can i get full screen video in dual mode? i would prefer in clone mode but if its impossible than i will be happy to even use dual mode.

p.s. i am using GF Go 7400

Answer:How can i get full screen video in dual mode?

Welcome wizinijsh.

Have you tried the search function of the forums to see if there are similar threads on your issue?

If not you will be far better off creating a thread giving a full explanation off what your issue is.

Can you also fill in your system specs so we know what your system is. You will find that if you look at the top of the screen you will see usercp, click on it and when the page loads look down the left hand side and you will see system specs(or something similar). Proceed to fill in.

Cheers.
