Word 07, Save each page in a document as a seperate document

Question: Word 07, Save each page in a document as a seperate document

Hello,
I used mail merger to create 25 letters to different locations and different people. The source used for the names and address's were from an excel file. I used "Edit Individual Documents" in order to get all the letters in one document. Now the problem is i need a backup of each letter on my computer and i have no clue if its even possible to save each page in the master document as a unique document. If not, is there a way of saving each unique document of a mail merger?
Thanks in advance.

Preferred Solution: Word 07, Save each page in a document as a seperate document

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The title basically says it all. I would like to know how to combine a bunch of Word 2007 documents without overlapping the first page, so basically I want there to be as many pages as there is for the amount of documents I want to combine with the original. Let's say there's the title page, then I want to add another 20 pages, well I should have 21 pages in total by the end of this.

If anyone knows how to do this, it would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks.

Answer:Combine multiple Word 2007 documents into one document on seperate pages

If this is a one off project the easiest way is to open the document that will be your main document, go the to the end of the document , Go To Insert>Text>Object>Select>Text from File and repeat until complete

Each time I want to save this specific file after a modification, I got an error message and MS Word shuts down. I tried to copy/paste the text in a new document but it doesn't help.
What happened is that I first wordprocessed a part of this document with Trados (translation managing software) and thought the problem was due to this but even when copying the "trados-free" part of the doc and pasting in a new one I still can't save it: Word closes without saving.

any help would be greatly appreciated

I want to be able to save the documents I've written in Word directly to a pdf, in much the same way as OpenOffice.org allows you to do.

Software such as Distiller($5000) and Acrobat($300) are out of the question due to their steep price tags. Are there any good, free (read: no ads or spyware) programs which will allow me to save a Word document directly as a pdf? Are there any reasonably priced programs which can do this?

Answer:Save a document as a pdf from Word

Sort of an odd question since you answered it yourself. OpenOffice.org is most likely the best one for the job if price matter since it's free. staroffice could also do it mind you.

I'm sure there are most likely some other ones out there but they'd most likely have even more conversion issues then OpenOffice.org so I wouldn't recommend using them.

When saving a Word 2007 document as a webpage (htm, html), an extra folder is automatically created besides the hmtl document itself. This folder contains background information like pictures, wallpaper etc. Is there a way to prevent that folder from being created in the first place? I've got Word 2000 on another computer, and when I save my word documents as html files over there, that extra folder is not generated. The only time that folder is created in 2000 is if my documents contain pictures, wallpaper etc. In Word 2007, it is created all the time, even though my documents are just plain text.

Answer:Solved: Word 2007, saving document as html document: how to get rid of extra folder?

Managed to find the solution, it was very simple after all. One has to save the document as a filtered webpage and click "yes" when a box pops up warning you that you will use certain featuers which are specific to Office2007, such as the background. Then the document will save without that extra folder and files.

I have two questions regarding documents created in Word 2007...

1) Can links be created within a Word document? For example, can I click on and item my table of contents and have the document jump to that particular section of the document?

2) Also, is there a way to make sections of the document hidden until the user clicks a specific word or graphic in the document?

I'd like to specify a particular instruction and include a "Show example" link that would make a detailed example appear for those who needed the extra help.

Thanks everyone!

Answer:Word 2007 - Links within a document? Hide/Show sections of a document?

If you created table of contents through References - Table of Contents, you can hold Ctrl and click on the item in that table, word will take you there. This feature is standard.

Also, to navigate inside document you can use bookmark option.
Insert bookmarks. Word 2010 Bookmarks
Then insert Hyperlink - in the window select second tab "Place in This Document" and choose your bookmark.

As for hiding parts of document, I do not think that is possible.
You can create that in HTML document with javascript, but not in Word document.

I am running XP and Word 2000 and Nortons. Word will crash if you leave the document open for a while (there is no specific time frame) and then select close (icon). The error - Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. The details are: AppName: winword.exe
appver 9.0.0.3822
Modname: kernel32.dll
modvers: 5.1.26002180
offset 0001eb33

This has pretty much happened since I got this laptop. I have reformatted and reinstalled everything (due to another problem) and still have the same problem with word. I have used the same CD on other computers to install word and they do not have the same problem.

I use a variety of templates and plain documents in my work and can not pin point it to one template.

If you leave Word open with a document (no matter what size) and come back to it later this is when the problem happens. I started to get around it my saving first then closing, but this no longer works. The save completes and then I select Close and this is when it happens - you get the dreaded pause and then you hear the whirl of the computer and then you get the Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. Firstly I could put up with it but is now just a nusiance.

This is just one of those odd quirks I have run into. When I open a new document in Word, then open an older file, the new document closes and only the old one is displayed.Using Microsoft Office 2010, specifically Word.Windows 7 64-bitA bit of explanation, I often do research/writing for school or for fun. This issue has always happened, just one of those small annoyances. Here is the exact thing that is happening:1. I open a new (blank) word document, by clicking on the Word icon or by selecting "Open New Document" in the Word program.2. I open an older (saved) Word document, by clicking on the saved file, not by using the "Open" function in Word.3. The New (empty) document disappears, only the older document is open. I must now open a new empty document to write in. What I want to happen:1. Open new document2. Open old document3. Both new and old document are open (2 windows).Other notes in no particular order:- Word has always operated like this. Just wondering if there is a way to stop it.- I am not using the "Open" function in Word to open the older file, I am opening the older file by double-clicking it in the File explorer. When I use the "Open" function in Word, it does the same (basically "closing" the new file in order to open the old one). - I tried searching through Word's settings but couldn't find anything that seemed to relate to this behavior.- As per regular Word behavior, the new document is auto-na... I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction with what appears to be a problem with Word.

I have a Lotus Notes application that stores a lot of information, and part of that is output to a word document for printing. A user opens a document in Lotus Notes, presses a button and a Word document is created with the relevant information in it. It does this by getting Notes to launch a Word template file with the layout how we want it, and passing an XML file with all the required values from Notes so that a VBA function in the Word template can read this information in. It's quite a convoluted way of doing things I'll agree, but I am just working with a a system that was developed a long time ago and in most cases it works well.

When the user is done making any changes to the Word document, there is a macro button in Word that they press to mark the document complete. This makes the document readonly, sets a few custom properties and then saves the document.

In most cases, if you were to run through the process, everything works fine. Sometimes however, a small number of users are finding that their work isn't saved. If for example they launch a new word document, make changes and then close word, then go back to that document and make more changes before pressing the Complete button in Word, they find that the next time they go to the document it's in the state before their most recent changes, which are lost.

I am copying each entry into a Word document and have got up to 3 pages with no problems in printing, saving and then later adding more and again printing and saving. This last time of copying and pasting the latest entries when I try to save I get a message that it is a Read Only document. What has happened and how can I get it to save again?

You probably opened two copies of the same document by mistake. Second copy will open as read-only.

Answer:when I save an MS word document it disappears

I'd like to clarify a few things.

When you "save the document", are you transferring it from a flash drive to the My Documents folder on the main drive?

OR

Have you opened the document and then saving it to "My Documents" on the main drive?

OR

Is the "My Documents" folder one a folder on the "Kingston stick"?

Or are you doing something else?

Hi all.

The other day whilst in the throws of fixing another unrelated problem I came across a strange and annoying Word Document problem.

When I bought this word document up it present a very unusual icon. It was grayed out and part of the title contained a ~$ then the name of the document.

When I tried to open it, the word document only opened up to the gray page just before it should turn white displaying the text, and there it froze.

Nothing worked after that! The freeze was so bad that the only way to close the window was to turn the computer off at the tower.

After rebooting I tried it again 2 more times with the same problem freeze occurring in the Word document.

Today I again found another document that caused the same problem, this time the icon for that document was normal but right beside this icon was another malformed grayed out ~$(name) icon.

When I tried to open either of the 2 icons I got the same freezing up problem, just as before.

I tried a previously suggested step in that I opened "Word" and from there navigated to where the bad files were located.

In turn I only hi-lighted each, and at the bottom of that window clicked on the arrow for the drop down box.

I was advised that one of the presented options was to repair the file. No such option was present.

So there you have it. Any advice on this problem please?

Regards

Answer:[SOLVED] Word document freezes computer and document is corrupted

Hi all.

Just to advise that I am going to mark this topic as Solved......to a fashion so to speak.
I may resurrect it at a later stage if the problem re-presents it's self.

In a nut shell. I spent a lot of time today searching sites and performing tests including searches on my computer program.

I ascertained that all the aforementioned "defective " Word documents originated in the same folder. After performing several search functions with the criteria as ~$.doc no other such files were found on my computer, other that the already mentioned.

All tests suggested would not repair the said documents.

I have now deleted the offenders and I will monitor the situation. If I run into problems again I will re-post.

Thanks anyway.
Regards

This might be kind of tricky.

We're trying to streamline our RFQ-to-Quote process, which currently utilizes a combination of digital forms and hand-written forms passed among several departments. My boss asked me to modify the RFQ form to save him some typing (because he has to retype all the information in the final Quote), and I--not understanding the complexity of the process--very stupidly told him that it could be done fairly simply using form fields and bookmarks. He's been kind enough to grant me a lot of leniency because for him anything would be better than the current situation, so as long as I can improve on what we use now, he'll be happy.

I thought about creating form templates for each of the departments, then as the original RFQ circulated from one department to the next subsequent forms would be appended to it to create a rolling document. I'm not too happy with the that idea; there's all sorts of room for user error. I thought about creating a single document template containing every department's form, but a) I don't want any single department to be able to modify information gathered during another department's process, and b) certain departments must generate a variable number of copies of their form.

I told my boss the best way to accomplish a secure and low-maintenance RFQ-to-Quote would be to create a stand-alone Quote Generator application, but we both agree the effort is not condusive to the timeframe by whic... Read more

Hi,

I work at a small non-profit and we have updated two computers with new computers running Windows 7. We use MS Word 2003. I have checked all threads on forum related to this issue, but nothing seems to correct our problem. I would be grateful for any help.

Description of issue: With a Word document open, one should be able to click "File" > "Send To" > Mail Recipient As Attachment", or any of the other mail options, and have the email composition window of Thunderbird pop up. What happens is that Word is attempting to send the attachment via Windows Live Mail. The computer basically freezes. If you try and abort or get out of Word, and error pops up stating you can't close Word until the email has been sent. Finally, you have to force a shut down of the computer.

Internet Explorer shows Thunderbird as default email client. I have check all of the other obvious places for setting the default email client, but I can't seem to find a conflict anywhere on the computer showing Windows Live Email as default client.

As a side note, this employee was using Outlook Express as their email client prior to the computer upgrade and all setting were imported into Windows Live Mail, which was initially used. The employee did not like Windows Live Mail, so I installed Thunderbird. It is used as the default email client and the only issue has been with Word. Additionally, I know that the document could be sent from Windows Explorer by right-cli... Read more

I don?t know what you mean with laptop keeps sending the document but if you have this issue with office word or some other office application, try to check some forum where you can find discussion about similar theme.

I can not give you any precise answer but it is maybe because of office specific settings or you press accidentally some key on the keyboard and on this way interrupt symbols entering.

On my previous computer with Windows 2000, I was able to make incremental backups of a Microsoft Word document while it was being created by me. The advantage of this was that if an "accident" happened and the document was lost or corrupted before it was completed or saved to a folder, the partially completed document could be retrieved from a special folder somewhere in C-drive. I was able to specify how often a new backup was created (ex.: every 3 minutes, ex.; every 10 minutes, etc.). It is possible that this special folder also contained backups of all previously saved Word documents, which were also being re-backed up every few minutes. -- I cannot find any reference to this on my new computer (Windows XP and Microsoft Word 2002) in the Windows search engine, or in the Word user interface "Help". I cannot remember how I found this feature on my previous (W~2000) computer. -- Thanks

I was working on a Word document that someone sent me by email in form of rar and saved the document. I now can't find the revised file and I have lost about 8 hours of work. Any ideas on where I can find this file? I looked in the email that was originally sent, but it is still the old file. I have also done searching on my computer with no luck. Help, I'm desperate!!! I have Word 2007. Please give me reply as soon as possible.

Answer:Cannot find the saved revised document in Word document

If you were only hitting "Save" and not "Save As" the document is likely, unfortunately, gone. You can try opening Word by itself and going through recent documents to see if it shows up. If you opened it directly from the email and the email was in Outlook, you might be able to find it in the Outlook Secure Temp Folder. To get to this folder, the easiest way is to send yourself a PDF file, open the PDF from the email then go to File | Properties and on the General tab (this is from memory, so I might be off a little bit) you'll find a location that you can click on. In this folder, you have a slight chance of finding the modified file. The only other option you have, that I can think of, would be digging through your temp folders hoping to find a .tmp or .doc file in there that has the content, but I give that about a .01% chance of happening. Good Luck!

It sounds like a permissions problem as though you have access to open the file, but not modify or save it.

Is this on your work network or a home network?

Hi,

A friend of mine has MS Word 2003 and though it always used to work, a couple of days ago, it simply began to refuse to save anything. She is typing something for school, and when she tried to save the document, the "save" dialog box disappears for a second, then pops back up.......nothing else can work, of course, so long as that box is there........she tries repeatedly to save it, but it will disappear and reappear immediately each time. The only way she can do anything is to remove the name in the "name" area and then just click on the "x" at the top right of the dialog box. At that point, everything she's typed disappears and the MS Word page is blank again.

I've never heard of such a thing, but I'm not real familiar with the Office products. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how to fix this?

Is there a way to get Word 2000 to save the printer settings in with the saved document?

Example: My favorite word processor, Lotus Word Pro, will save such things as which pages were printed last, whether it was printed duplex or normal, and which printer it was printed to. So, if I open the document, print it to my HP5 in duplex mode and then save the document, the next time I open and print that document, it has those same settings already set.

Need help trying to save a word 2007 document. Am running Windows Vista. I have been working on this document for the past couple of days, a high school maths investigation with lots of equations and graphs copied over from 'Autograph' a 3d graphing software. I have been able to save it with ease with all this stuff on it until an hour ago. When I press CTRL+S it opens up the save as box (even though i've already saved it before). Then when i press save in this dialog box the box closes for a half a second before opening again without me pressing anything. I do it again and again and notice the little loading bar that tells you it's saving in the bottom right hand corner of the document gets stuck and then stops when the box opens up again. I've tried to rename it and this doesn't work. i copied it into an old word document and then saved that document and that document wouldn't save either. i got rid of it off that document and the old document saved perfectly. I closed it just to check it was actually not saving and it isn't. Is there something wrong with my document? or is it word? please help!

Hi!

I have more word documents ( .doc ) on my desktop. If i open it, and do some changes, and after saving and closing it, the file changes place on the desktop. If my file was placed on the the right side at
the desktop, after editing it, it will be moved to the left side. It will always move to the left side. I also noticed that this problem only occurs if my word file is saved as .doc. If i save my file as .docx, then it's fine. I have Windows 7 Professional
32 bit installed.

Can someone tell me, how to fix this?

Thanks,

Two people use my computer, Nathan and Michael.  Both are Administrators.  When Nathan is logged on his Word 2003 documents are saved in:
C:\...Nathan\Documents.  When Michael is logged on his Word 2003 documents are also saved in:  C:\Nathan\Documents.  Obviously, the way it should work is Nathan's Word documents should be saved under his log-in and Michael's documents should be saved under Michael's log-in.  I can't make that happen.  Here's what I've tried so far:

I go to Control Panel, Tools, Options, File Locations.  When I click Modify I can indicate a different folder for saving Word documents, but I can't change the location "Nathan."  Also, any change I make just adds the new extension to the existing.  Example:

C..\Nathan\Documents    Modified to:  C..\Nathan\Documents\Documents, etc.  Whatever I choose is added onto the existing location
C..\Nathan\Documents.

I hope I've explained this clearly.  Any Word 2003 experts out there who can help on this one?  It's really got me puzzled.  Thanks in advance.

Answer:Changing save document location in Word 2003

Hello,

the first question that ' you cannot change the location " Nathan"' , do you log out when you change the location under Michael adminstrator.

As for another question, did you try with another file name. I mean you can try with different file name, like C..\Nathan\Documents\Tutorial

Hope my answer can help you a bit. Thanks!

Hello All,

I manage the maintenance on a corporate jet. I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop running Vista. We use Microsoft Word 2007 for our maintenance log book, oldest maintenance entries to newest. I want WORD to open my logbook document on the last page of the document when I fire it up, not the first. Any ideas? My email address is [email protected].

Thanks, Greg Stultz

Answer:How can I get Word 2007 to open on the last page of a multi-page document?

The only way I know how to do this is using a macro. Open the document and press ALT + F11 to open the VBA editor. In the project explorer window on the left you will need to right click the object labeled "ThisDocument" and choose "View Code"

Paste the code below into the blank code window and save the document. You will need to adjust the macro security level to medium or low from the main Word window by clicking TOOLS --> MACRO --> SECURITY
Code:
Private Sub Document_Open()

Selection.EndKey Unit:=wdStory

End Sub
You can also accomplish the same action without using a macro by opening the document and clicking CTRL + END to take you to the last page.

Regards,
Rollin

Sir,in ms-word document, i dont wont to give the page number to the whole document but when i am giving a page number to a selected page automatically it is giving page numbers to the whole document. So, is there any way to give a page number to the selected page.message edited by GulamMurtuza

Answer:How to give page numbers to selected page in word document.

Create separate sections.Make the page(s) where you want a number a section on its own. It will still be in sequence in the finished document. You insert a section break at the end of the page preceding the page where you want the page numbering to start. When you want to stop page numbering, create another section break at the end of the last numbered page in that section..Remember to enable/insert or not page numbering as appropriate for each section.

URGENT!! (Isn't it always?) I need to convert a multiple tab excel document to a word document. I read that I can save as a pdf, then convert to word but I have only Adobe Reader. If this can be done, is there a way to conserve the original format and the links in the excel doc?I would prefer leaving in excel but the customer needs a word document. Also, just in case I can convince to leave in excel -- is there a way to print the excel file as one document without printing each tab separately? If so, how do I ensure the formatting looks good to print as a regular 8.5 x 11 document? Thanks for any help.

Hello,

I want to save the View settings for a certain document to show the two pages side by side. Check out the attached picture.
I press View > Multiple Pages to have them sit side to side and save the document. (Notice how the zoom setting in the bottom right corner states that it's at 121%). When I create a new unrelated document, the zoom is set at 121% still, so I zoom out to 100% and do whatever I need to do with this new document.

If I press the One Page setting (above the Multiple Pages setting) and re-open the original document, the view setting for this document is still using the "global" Word 2013 view settings and no longer shows the two pages next to each other. So when I open the first document again, the zoom setting went to 100% & the pages are no longer side by side.

How can I save specific view settings for certain documents, and not interfere with the default Word view settings?

Thanks

Answer:How Do I Save A Document-Specific View Setting In Word 2013?

Word behaves as a word processor, not as a publishing package - when you are in "print layout" view - you are looking at the document as if it were to be printed, the view is not saved in the document.

You can cheat by using a page layout side by side (or in 2 columns) on a larger size of paper - say A3 size landscape for 2 portrait A4 pages - this information is saved in the document file.

I want to scan a page and save it as a word document. I have used a couple a scanners in my working experience, but everytime i try to save it as a word document, the page content doesnt come as it is, but comes as a junk of mixed characters, numbers. (I remember in 1999 i used a scanner in which was very easy to scan and save as a word document)

I am using hp 1350 all in one, is there any way to do some adjustment in the software to get my work done. pls help

Answer:Scanning a page for word document

Iíve been generally pleased with the progress of OCR as far as accuracy. The versions that come with scanners arenít able to handle odd formatting like forms. But my experience has been pretty good with accuracy in plain text. You need forms capable OCR software if the formatting isnít pretty straightforward.

Most OCR works best with black and white rather than grayscale, but whatever you are using try the other. Some integrate and donít even give you a choice. You can also increase the resolution if you have the choice. A few years back my OmniPage OCR liked 300 PPI, but my latest Abbyy seems to accept higher.

Other than that I donít know much you can do.

How can I ensure that when I click on WORD to open a blank page, I will always get exactly the same blank layout, view, margins and fonts? I'm sure there is somewhere to create and save your desired default. Thanks in anticipation.

Answer:WORD DOCUMENT START PAGE

If you've got a version of Word before 2007.....The blank file used is called normal.dot and can be found in:-XP - documents and settings/yourname/application data/microsoft/templatesVista - users/yourname/appdata/local/microsoft/templatesTo get there, you'll probably need to go into folder options first to show all hidden files and protected files. When you've opened it, set everything up as you want and then save it using the same name.If you have Word 2007 it's much easier.....On the Home and Page Setup ribbons are various little crosses in the bottom-right corner. If you click on them, it'll let you change various settings. On each one is a 'default' button so that it will remember it for next time.

Brand new member with a problem! I was fooling around with the Select Browse Object button during a Word 2007 tutorial. I ended the tutorial because I had some work to do. Now my Word documents don't show me what page I'm on (bottom left corner where it says page x of x). It stays at page 2 of 10. I can see what page I'm on by the scroll bar on the right, but I need to get the view of my current page back to where it was before. I clicked CANCEL on the Select Browse Object button but that doesn't seem to have any affect. Any suggestions? I am new to Word 2007 and am having a hard time getting used to the changes.
EDIT: Well, this is strange. All of a sudden (and with no other attempts to correct the situation) my page numbers are showing up. Wonder what the problem was but I'm glad it's fixed.

A friend of mine described a problem when he opened a new MS Word document: the insertion point is in the middle of the page and he can't move the insertion point to the top. I first asked him to tell what the top margin was set to. It is 1". My next thought was that maybe his normal.dot file had been corrupted. So I went to his house, sat down at his computer and looked for the file. At least I looked where I thought it should be: C:/Documents and Settings/user/Application Data/Microsoft/Templates. I tried all users listed. No normal.dot. I tried to search for it in all drives. Not found.

He is running Word 2002. Any ideas on how to solve his problem?

Don

Answer:Word document starts in mid-page

One thing you could try is deleting the normal.dot file.

This is the template for the blank page that opens everytime you start up MS Word.

By deleting it, Word creates a brand new one upon opening.

Hope it works out for you....

When I open an existing Word document, my letterhead is not visible or any writing on the 1st page. Only text from the 2nd page is visible. The fist page is a total blank page.

Please advice.

Answer:Letterhead in Word Document - blank page

I really don't see how, if anything untoward had happened with either malware or a "buggy" update, a document would survive uncorrupted and with all it's pages intact except the first one. I can only suggest it was saved like that.

I am running Windows XP professional and Office 2003. The default margin setting for page set up in Word is Top and Left margins 2 cm. Bottom 14.47 and Right 10.84. I have deleted Normal.dot template, uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled it and the same problem comes up. I cannot get the margins to change and hold the changed margins. Please help.

Answer:DEFAULT PAGE SETTING ON WORD DOCUMENT

Margin settings are definitely stored in Normal.dot but there could be more than one instance of it on your PC. You should do a search and delete all instances that are found. The default location for Normal.dot on Win XP is C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Username"\Application Data\Microsoft\TemplatesReinstalling the program doesn't help because Normal.dot isn't overwritten.

I want to know how to do this in Word 2000 or 2007:

I have created a CV in a table format. The table is exactly the size of the paper so I cannot put a cursor below the table so can't use the delete button. I remember vaguely there is a way of getting rid of redundant page some other way but I so rarely come across my current problem I cannot remember it. Anyone knows how to do it?

I prefer to use Office 2000 for my own purposes but I as I am likely to encounter Office 2007 at work place, I wouldn't mind knowing how to do that also in the new version.

Answer:Removing blank page at the end of Word Document

Click on the "show formatting" button. It looks like a backward "P". Either your table is too big and you have flowed beyond the boundry of the page or you have a page or section break which the "show formatting" will show you and you will be able to delete.

You can make you table a little bit smaller and the extra page will go away.

Or, you can adjust the top and bottom margins smaller in Page Setup and the extra page will go away.

I've even tried removing a cell from below the break and pasting it above the break, and the machine just corrects and returns to the previous appearance.

Howdy everyone.

So I'm writing my thesis. I've been writing in OpenOffice, which I'm pretty familiar with. It's worked great with different page styles and so on. No problems whatsoever. Then I come to realize that I'm going to have to port the whole thing into Microsoft Word so that the university print store can print the whole thing off.

Anyway, I've managed to get the whole thing over there, but I need help formatting the page styles. The first five pages, which are the title page, committee signatures and table of contents need to be i, ii, iii, iv and so on. Also, the title page doesn't get a number.

Then, where the main body starts, I need to start over with 1, 2, 3 and so on. This was really easy in OpenOffice but I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to do this in Microsoft Office 2003. I manage to get the first numbers, i, ii, iii, and so on set, but then when I go to start the 1, 2, 3, it erases the previous numbers and so on. I've tried setting up different page styles, but I just can't get it.

EDIT: I got it. Section breaks..... finally figured it out.

I am trying to format a very long manuscript and am having a page numbering issue.

I know how to link/unlink headers and footers and create numbering within sections. So, my chapters are sectioned and numbered and each chapter starts with page 1.

I also need a running total of pages. I can't seem to have two formats in the same header (a section page numbering and an overall page numbering) so I planned to put the chapter numbers in the headers (unlinked to previous) and the total page numbering in the footer because they can still be linked.

Sounded good, but when I format the page numbering to start with '1' in the header, even though it is unlinked, the page formatting changes in the footer.

Is there any way around this?

I'm using Word 2010 in Microsoft Office Professional 2010 and Windows 7 Professional, if that helps.

Thanks.

I am new to the site and I have looked but I don't see anything posted about this.  I apologize if it has been answered before.  I appreciate any help you can give me.I recently installed a HP1000 J110 series printer.  I started printing a word document of raffle tickets that I needed.  I have printed over 200 pages of this.  I can also print successfully from the web or a pdf file.  But when I try to print my homework from a word document the spacing has changed to double and it only prints every other page.  I just printed a 7 page single space document - it printed 7 pages double spaced - it printed complete paragraphs but seemed to skip every other page.  I have gone over my settings but I can't find anything that seems to need changed.  I can't figure out why it prints okay on one but not on the others.

When you say 'you've gone over your settings' is this the box that opens before you finally click 'print'.It confirms - 'Print : All pages in range', Page Range - Select 'All', Print what : Document etcIs this what you mean by settings???

Using Word 2002 on MS Windows XP

I am unable to delete the last page in several of my documents I work on at work. The last page is a blank page. When trying, I mess up the formatting which includes headers, foorters, page numbering, graphic. The document contains usually 4-6 pages sometimes more and is on legal size paper. The first page has a logo on the left and on the right has text (Reference _______________). This is placed in the header. In the footer there is more text on the left with automatic page numbering in the centre and another graphic on the right. 2nd page header is just the text (Reference _______________) located on the right with the footer containing the text on the left with automatic page numbering in the centre and another graphic on the right and so on until the last page called a "Status Page". This page is on letter size, does not have any headers, footers, graphics or page numbering.

My task is to take this document and delete the "Status Page" which is the last page. First I remove the text on this page and try to then delete the page, but I can't without messing up all the formatting. I'm aware that I will have to probably place certain headers, footers, page numbers back in on certain pages, although, I never make it that far.

Would you know how to do this and provide step by step directions? Maybe there is no actual technique to do this, but I know it can be done, as someone has managed to remove the "sta... Read more

I followed the advice on MS Office help page: open the document, click view, click normal layout, click paragraph icon, delete last paragraph icon. But, when I do this, nothing happens. The last paragraph icon will not delete.

Does anyone know a simple way to delete the blank page? I tried removing the footer from the blank page, but that also removed the footer from the first page.

Answer:Solved: Delete blank page at end of document in Word 2002

Hi loverboy (I've always wanted to say that ),
Could be a couple of different things. First, try clicking the paragraph icon and using backspace instead of delete.

Is the content on the first page really close to the end of the page? If so, try changing the top and bottom margins (File/Page Setup). Make them both 0.2 or something like that. Did that fix the problem? If so, change them to something more reasonable (like maybe 0.75).

You can also highlight the paragraph character and change the font on just that character to 2pt. That will likely make it small enough to fit with the first page.

If none of those options work, you could have a page or section break that you're not aware of. Go to Tools/Options and on the View tab under Formatting Marks, check All. When you go back to your document, if you see a dotted line that says "break", highlight it and delete it.

Let us know if any of that helps.

I have a 100+ page Word 2013 Document that I've added page numbers to. However, when I go to print the documents the numbers wont print and they need to. How can I fix this?

Thanks!!!

Answer:Solved: Page numbers WONT Print in Word 2013 Document

You do have the Page number coding in the header or footer right?

Can you post a cleaned version of this document showing where you have the page numbering?

Also do you have a bunch of "Sections" defined within this document?

I have Win7, FF, AVG and MB and am using Word 2007. Whenever I open a saved document Word persists in opening a blank screen (toolbars at top) before it opens my document. I've searched the forums, Googled the problem and tried a few remedies but nothing has worked.

Can anyone solve this for me please?

Hi

I have a problem. My office has many labs, but from a single lab when someone prints a word document onto a particular printer, it gives out an extra blank page. This blank page is not seen in the print preview unlike which was discussed in the previous forums.

This problem has been encountered only for word documents but not for .pdf files. I have tried even with a single page of word printing, it gives out another blank page. Can anyone resolve this problem. I dont think its the problem with the printer because it works well with other labs and .pdf files from this lab too. Anyways its a HP Laserjet 5SiMX.

Answer:Word document prints an extra blank page but that blank page is not seen in preview

Is the printer in question the default printer for the PC in that lab? Print preview shows how the document would appear based on the settings of the default printer - using another printer can cause changes such as this.

I have a client with a problem creating new documents from the File > New > Word Document dropdown from Windows Explorer window. If I set her default font to Times New Roman it will stay for creating new documents from within Word. If she goes the other route mentioned above to create a new document it will always default to Courier. Also when she tries to save the document with the Save As item it defaults to txt instead of a .doc file. I am thinking there are two different templates for these two seperate ways of opening or creating a document.

OS is XP Pro
Word 97 SR-2B

Thanks!

I'm creating a document in word 2007 at one point of the document I want to insert a link or icon that points to a separate word document, when the master document is saved both documents are saved as one file so that i can distribute it to other people not linked on a LAN. I don't need the second document to be seen but launched on a separate window when the link or icon is clicked.
Can somebody please help I've seen this on emails and PP presentations but I'm not sure if it can be done in word, I would think so!

Thank

Answer:Solved: Word document within a word document

Not hard at all. Open the attached - I have included the instructions to show either the other text (or at least part) or just the icon.

Hi,

I am not sure if this is possible in word, but say I have document A. I place document A within document x, document y, and document z. Is it possible to make changes to document A and have the changes updated automatically to documents x, y, and z?
I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Answer:Word Document within another document

The only simple way is to go to Insert, Object, Create from file and choose to insert your file as a link (these are 2003 instructions - would be similar in 2007, though.) However, you will then get a questions about the file having links and do you want to update...every time you open the file.
You could also just insert some text and hyperlink it to the other file.
Finally, someone could probably write some VBA that would insert the file and update it every time you opened it.

Hey,

I have a word document that is 36 pages long. On several pages of the document I have to put in the same information, which is very time consuming. Is there a way that I can type in what I need and have it automatically appear everywhere else I need that information to be in the document? Any help would be greatly appreciated and a huge time saver.

Answer:Word 2007 - Multiple entries in a multiple page document

There may be a macro that would do what you want, but I don't know anything about using them. Cut and Paste would be faster than retyping the info.

Save to Google Drive allows you to save any web content directly to your Google Drive through the context menu of the browser.

In the settings you can choose where the contents get saved, I recommend navigating to your Google Drive and creating a new folder for all Saves with this extension which makes it easier to organise later. Or you can change the location from the dialog that appears once complete.

You can save all types of contents including;
- documents (pdf / docx)
- images
- webpages including HTML5 audio and video (html / webp / webm)
- audio and video (mp3 / mp4)
- archives
- software (exe / msi)
and much more!

Simply right-click over the image or link contents and Save to Google Drive.

As seen below, Save Link to Google Drive will save the executable to the cloud.

No downloading or re-uploading required to Google Drive.

This extension has been available for many years, it's not new, but most may overlook it's abilities.

When I open a saved word document or New blank document, the document is filled with columns or checks fully filled in the document.
How can I avoid this? How to modify the settings. Thanks in advance.
