So im wanting to transfer my Emails from Hotmail without simply forwarding them (id like to keep the original address in them) i found a guide here that used Eudora and Hotmail Popper but the guide is very vague and i couldnt get it to work. Is there another way or a better guide out there? After a hour and a half searching through google and the Eudora forums i have come up with nothing on how to get this to work or any other options. Please HELP!
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I don't know - I just hand forwarded everything and designated a label for the migration. Sorry!

can you not forward them to your gmail account?
5 more repliesHey guys,
I want to get all my old e-mails from my hotmail account to Thunderbird. I use hotmail popper to get the new ones over, but something that transfers all the old ones would be useful.

Ugh... I didn't completely read your post before trying my own. What's wrong with forwarding the emails to your new account?
The question really says all about what I want to do, or need help on. I recently signed up for a new outlook account to try out the new outlook preview and I've set up gmail to automatically forward new messages to my outlook account so that I can use outlook to manage my gmail account.
Do any of you know how I would be able to forward the old messages, and not the new ones, to my outlook? I already know that they can be fetched into outlook by outlook's very own service, forwarding would be faster, so..?! Also, since I now use outlook to send email on behalf of my gmail account, how do I make it sync each email I send using outlook with my gmail - so that gmail has it all?
TY in advance. Please do help.
can't figure out how to add info into new smart phone, never used one before.
Settings > email + accounts > add an account > fill in the details for the gmail and it will get a new "App" on the All Apps list that you can pin to the Start Screen
more repliesHi everyone
I tried to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail. I used the POP3 settings, got it to work, and hit send/receive. Now none of my emails from my Inbox are in my hotmail account when I use my web login. Why did it do this and how do I reverse it? I tried to find some answers on the Microsoft site but they give pretty generic answers there. The answers I've got here in the past were much better.
Thanks in advance,
Greg
Try going to Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing accounts > Select your account and click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab. From here there should be a check box that allows you to set whether you want your emails to be left on the server.
How do I get my Hotmail emails over into my new Outlook Hotmail account I inadvertently created my new account without checking properly
Here's how you add your Hotmail account to your Outlook.com account. I don't know if you'll get your messages over or not. They're two separate accounts that can't be merged.

I tried mailing to Hotmail ids from my Gmail but it never reached...
I mailed to Yahoo too...which reached within seconds!!
Any1 knows why????
Are you talking about invites? Hotmail blocks gmail invites. Check this site out for more details http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/0,...39157755,00.htm
Does anyone know how to block a sender in hotmail and gmail? I know in hotmail you can report a sender as spam but I would like to block a specific sender and how the e-mail returned to that sender. Is there anyway you can do that through hotmail and gmail?
The sender that I would like to block is someone that I know but I no longer want to receive any e-mails from. I would like to block them and have the e-mailed returned to that sender so they know that I'm not even reading their e-mails.
In Gmail you can create a filter.
Put the email address in the from field then pick the option to forward the email back to the sender.
eg if you want to block [email protected] the rule would be...
from [email protected] forward to [email protected]
Just click on create a filter and it will be apparent what to do.
Hello:
What I am trying to do is to link my Live Mail (Hotmail) account to my primary GMail account. When I go into the settings of Live Mail it asks me to enable POP on GMail. But, I don't think I can do that because I also use a local email client (Live Mail Essentials) to retrieve my GMail. To do this I use the IMAP feature on GMail and always retain a copy of the mail on the GMail server.
Now, my question is: Can I enable POP in GMail without affecting the IMAP relation that I have between my email client and GMail? If I could do this, then the Live Mail (Hotmail) account could become a backup of my GMail.
Can this be done?
Thanks in advance.
Hi kristalsoldier, your Hotmail can't be forwarded to Gmail, but your Gmail can be forwarded to Hotmail. My suggestion re your set up when using Windows Live Mail is to 'log in' with your Hotmail username + password. This is called your Windows Live ID. now log in to your Gmail account and disable IMAP + enable POP, then set it as my image.

I'm just need to know which best Hotmail or Gmail? and why?
Which have best and than features?
Thanks in advance
Though both are good but I would vote for gmail because it does not have any advertisement on it's page where as hotmail has number of advertisement on the page which makes noisy ;-)
9 more repliesMy friend's laptop has lost the capability to link to her Hotmail or Gmail. She can link to the internet and also chat on a WWW-based link (not sure which one). She cannot remember doing anything out of the ordinary ... nor downloading any files.
I was able to link to my provider using the laptop and could not get to either of my Hotmail or Gmail accounts. Nor could i like to my Yahoo Photos account.
The problem exists in both IE and Firefox.
I would be grateful for any ideas about the likely cause and also how to correct the problem.
Thanks in advance - Chris
could it be the hosts file? but thats only for IE i think, dono why it wouldn't work with firefox. anyone else got any ideas?
Hi All,
Got a strange problem which seems to be getting worse. If I try to log into Hotmail through IE, it keeps cycling back to the log-in screen. Opening GMail just crashes the browser session. This has been going on for about a month now.
I have been using Opera to check my Hotmail and Gmail accounts, but last weekend, the same started happening with Hotmail in Opera. GMail is still OK through Opera though.
All other sites I access through either browser seem fine, and no other issues with the PC or any of my programs. I use AVG and spybot / ad-aware and try to keep it pretty clean. Usually only brings up a few cookies whenever I run a scan.
Anybody any ideas on why this is happening, or should I take this to the malware forum ?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Which version of AdAware? If you have the Pro version try disabling AdWatch and see if that helps.
Steve
Gmail has an option that can block "less secure apps".
I was wondering if Hotmail (Outlook.com) also has such an option.
I have no idea with regard to Hotmail, but if you want to use virtually any e-mail client in existence to access your messages you have to set this option in Gmail off as well as turning off two-step verification.
4 more repliesMorning chaps,
Have just moved over to Gmail...which contrary to what I read, is working really well for me. Anyway, I have my one Gmail personal account, and one hotmail account. Obviously the Gmail notifier checks my Gmail account. But I'd still like MSN messenger to check my hotmail account.
When I click on the "goto my inbox" link on MSN messenger, it takes me to thunderbird, although I have hotmail ticked as my default application, and have enabled hotmail as my default account. How can I get MSN messenger to check my online hotmail account for me ?
EDIT: I tried uninstalling Thunderbird.....and enabling hotmail as default again, but now the "goto my inbox" link on MSN messenger doesn't do anything at all when I click on it. Any ideas ?
cheers....mel
My mother in law had a tech over to her house yesterday and he suggested she get out of hotmail due to a lack of security.
Is GMail any more secure/safe than hotmail?
Gmail has a couple of features that might make it more secure. You can chose to require SSL for your entire session instead of just for the sign on. You can also create your own secret question instead of choosing from a list.
I see no reason to change unless there is some cause for concern. You shouldn't be sending SS# or credit cards by e-mail anyway.
I have many friends who use Android and naturally when it comes to sharing documents we use mail. But I have noticed that whenever my friends (Gmail) send an email to my hotmail account, I never receive it whereas if they send it on my Gmail account I immediately get it. This makes me frustrated.
I have a lot of friends on android as well as IOS that send documents to my Outlook all the time. Never missed one.
6 more repliesHello and good morning everyone, I have a quick question about gmail and hotmail. Okay i know that hotmail has been around a lot longer then gmail, but hotmail seems to me to have very good features, as I have both hotmail and gmail accounts but I NEVER seem to get ANY spam in my gmail but always loads in my hotmail,.....WHY is this pls??? And also shouldn't microsoft be trying to implement these features in its hotmail???? It def seems that gmail in doing something right!!!!
I use Yahoo... what's spam ? ;) and also have a gmail account... same goes for that too.Hotmail seems to have a bit of a reputation (never used it myself) and you often see folk that specifically put "will not reply to anyone with hotmail) so I guess that speaks for itself.

5 more repliesI am currently fundraising for a large expedition in 2012. I set up an email account just for the purpose of the fundraising, as I didn't want sponsors to have my private e-mail. The fundraising account is Gmail. I have managed to set up forwarding from the Gmail account to my private (hotmail) account, but I want to know if there is any way in which I can set u pa method to reply to these forwarded messages through the hotmail account so that the sender appears to be the Gmail account? Thank you
If you are using the live mail application for hotmail, you
can setup pop service in your gmail settings and add
gmail as a pop3 email account in live mail.
That would pretty much negate the need to use forwarding though,
as you could just download gmail to the live mail app.
You just choose the outgoing email for the reply before sending.
Afraid none of this is useful if you are using hotmail on the web.
I am using Windows XP. Both Hotmail and Gmail offer to remember the user, so that the signi-in happens automatically, but neither brower seems to cooperate. I ask to sign in automatically, but I am forced to sign-in again (ID and password) every time I visit either program. Both used to work correctly. I don't know what I did to make them not work. Any suggestions?

1 more repliesIn Google Mail I want to set up incoming mail from Hotmail. Google's settings are asking for the POP server for Hotmail, any idea what this is?ThanksNeil.
You can't redirect your email that way unless Hotmail supports forwarding. Hotmail is accessed via IMAP but it makes no difference.
4 more repliesDoes anyone know how to set up forwarding for hotmail to go to Gmail? Not the other way around.
Hotmail doesn't allow you to forward e-mails to other e-mail addresses automatically (that would be very unM$-like).
The only somewhat related thing you can do is to send e-mails on behalf of another e-mail address you put in. I know this is a very odd feature but I wanted to mention it just in case. You should be able to go to the 'Options' section in hotmail, there you will see the 'Send and receive mail from other e-mail accounts'.

Gmail and Hotmail CAPTCHAs Defeated
ArsTechnica has the scoop on how the CAPTCHA systems for both Gmail and Hotmail have been beaten and what the industry is doing to make sure it stays beaten. Ugh.
?New findings indicate that both Gmail and Windows Live Hotmail have been compromised again, this time via a more-streamlined attack process. With two of the largest webmail providers once again vulnerable, CAPTCHAs clearly aren't meeting the security needs of either company, and it may be time to reevaluate the use of them altogether.
Ohh i knew this for a couple of days now. There was a massive influx of spammers right after it was beaten. We had upwards of 60 people being banned just here alone a day till we updated our security. Some other sites i had this happen to as well. I had 45 spammers banned and well over 200 posts on several forums that i had to weed out cause of this.
IPB, vB have taken measures to help prevent the spammers. reCAPTCHA has also helped on some sites as well.
Browsing to gmail.google.com and browsing hotmail besides the sign in page are futile. There are a few other sites that pull up the page cannot be displayed kind of white/ black type screen. Gmail ignores read receipts, but you may be able to add the request for one in your client, such as Thunderbird.
on some websites such as myspace, bebo, friendster etc...you can type in your address and then it brings up your contact list and you can send an invite for people to come and sign up is there anywhere that there is a code or a tutorial on how todo this as i think it'd be excellent feature for my website...

Hi,
I have a problem logging on to my Gmail account. This is a new problem that has just developed over the last couple of days. My browser meets the Gmail requirements. If I may put into order the sequence of events.
When I type in gmail.google.com, the login page opens up as it should.
But then when I type in my login and password, it just shows REDIRECTING and doesnt go further. On the lower bottom left corner, it even says DONE. But only difference is that next to the DONE is an EXCLAMATION MARK in a YELLOW TRIANGLE instead of the regular "e".
And the url field shows this:
https://www.google.com/accounts/Che...53bed18ce7c9&service=mail&chtml=LoginDoneHtml
Please help!!
I am facing login problems with hotmail too. Again I get the login window. But once I put in the login and password, it just shows DONE. The url field reads:

Would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi all.I am having problems logging into hotmail or gmail, and this happened just all of a sudden. 5 more repliesHello, I have encountered a problem, which I have never experienced before to my computer knowledge.
It has been about a month and a half or so since I have dealt with a problem with yahoo, gmail and hotmail. It all started when I couldn't sign into yahoo messenger. I degraded back to an earlier version. It solved that problem. However, when prefer not to sign in to messenger and check my email from my browser alone. It'll connect and then finally bring up a network timeout. It seems like it occurs when I try to access login.yahoo.com or mail.yahoo.com. Well, when I sign into messenger. I have no trouble by clicking on the email symbol in the messenger's interface. I have ran a antivirus scan and such. It seems like it still doesn't clear up my problem. It comes up with things and cleans them. But, I don't believe any of those files are causing this.
It logs me in and after checking my email, I try to log out through the browser. But, it comes back to the network timeout problem.
It has happen to gmail and hotmail too. I have tried the following commands in dos. Which, Someone recommended elsewhere. dnsflush, ip configuration release, renew. I have tried clearing out my cookies and such in internet explorer and mozilla. Both of them can't connect to mail.yahoo.com unless with the help of my messenger. Hi Heatherindk. . .
Welcome to the Tech Support Forum. . . Vista Support!
I would recommend that you un-install all prior versions of Java, then go HERE and download the latest version of Java v6.6.
Then test Gmail and HotMail.
One other question - Can you obtain access to either account when using Mozilla Firefox, found HERE?

Hi,
Messages that are sent from a hotmail or yahoo account to gmail account #1 are not always (but sometimes) forwarded to gmail acct #2. That applies whether they are sent directly to the account or via an online contact form that directs messages to the account.
Of course, acct #2 is set up to forward all mail to #1; there are no filters. I have checked the Spam folder in #2 - they don't arrive anywhere.
So far the ones I have noticed that got stuck have used the version of the address with a dot in it, in the form [email protected] rather than [email protected] It shouldn't make any difference according to the Gmail documentation, and I have received hundreds of messages addressed to the dotted form, including from Yahoo and Hotmail.
http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=10313
I tried to set up a filter to forward all mail sent to the dotted form to #2, but it wouldn't let me as all mail was going there already. I guess I can set it to filter those to another of my accounts instead.
I will avoid giving out the version with the dot in the meantime, but would like to solve this somehow as the dotted version is widely known and will be used for a long time by some people. I am doing some recruitment and have already missed out on some candidates due to this problem. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks

More repliesOkay, I'm ready to make the switch, but I have a couple questions. First, I'm an old school Hotmail/OE user, but not a paying member. I was going to just pay for Hotmail and get HotPopper, but I'm giving MS the boot as a whole for e-mail.
What I WANT to do is move all of my Hotmail/OE folders and contacts to TBird, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that without moving all of my settings, which I might need HotPopper for, no? (after this I would setup my GMail account in TBird)
Let's say I can move all of my folders and contacts. I don't need my Hotmail addy to work in TBird, but I DO want to setup my GMail addy in TBird to use with all of my ex-Hotmail folders & contacts. That shouldn't be a problem, right?
Then I'll send out my message from Hotmail.com to everyone (with my GMail addy as reply-to), and just keep monitoring my Hotmail account for messages that need to know of my change to my Gmail addy.
Can anyone see anything I'm missing here? Anything that might make this transition easier

There are lots of browsers that you could be using and the instructions from clearing the temporary files (and cookies) vary from browser to browser. But don't worry, we can probably figure out what browser you are using.
For now, I'll assume that you are using a browser called Internet Explorer version 9 (IE9) to get to those e-mail accounts. If you happen to be using something other than IE9, then we can deal with that later.
Let's clear the files that hang around after you close your IE9.
Please take a look a the picture under step #3 in this document:
(You can click on each image to make it bigger.)
Internet Explorer 9 - Delete Browsing History
If the upper right corner of your browser looks like that, then please complete steps 3, 3a and 4 thu 7. You can make the check marks like those shown for step 4. After completing those steps - test the results:
Close IE9
Wait a few seconds.
Open IE9
Visit and sign into both e-mail accounts
(remember to check the "keep me signed in" option)
Close IE9
Wait a few seconds.
Open IE9
Visit and both e-mail accounts and see if you are still signed in.
If this does not fix the problem, then visit this document again:
Internet Explorer 9 - Delete Browsing History
Complete steps 3, 3a and 4 thru 7. But this time, ... Read more
Hello guys!
I know everyone hates guys like me, that register only to get help instead of joining the community. But that's not the case, I've been following bleepingcomputer for a while now and it helped me help others with amazing solutions. This time, though, I haven't found anything like what's happening here.
I'm at my gf's computer and there's this annoying situation that I can't bypass.
I'm using firefox, browsing random websites, when she asks me to go to my mail and check something from college. When I reach gmail.com (or accounts.google.com or docs.google.com whatever), Firefox tells me that the website is "Unsafe" and "website cant be trusted" and "security certificate is not valid".
I tried to bypass it by adding a exception. Didn't work.
Then i tried the same thing in IE. Didn't work.
Then I tried hotmail.com, in both browsers. Didn't work either.
I've ran "COMODO" AV and "Malwarebytes". I've also tried "rkill", that I had used once in a friends computer.
The only different thing this computer as seen lately is her 6 yo brother playing random games on every website imaginable.
Help please?
Thank you all for your patience!

First time poster after lurking for several weeks reading posts. Thanks for such a great forum that you all have made.
My question - Two weeks ago I picked up a HTC Trophy Win 7 phone. In an effort to sync more things with the phone, I set up a LIVE.com account using my gmail address. I'm using the LIVE.com to store my calendar and contacts. I opted to foward my gmail to the LIVE.com account so I'd only have to log in one place. Now, all the LIVE.com email app does is store my emails i.e. if I delete emails on my phone or on gmail.com it will never update on LIVE.com. Last time I logged into my LIVE.com account I had 300 (previously deleted) emails.
Is this just a problem with fowarding email from one account to another? Any other thoughts would be great.
My last step is to simply open another email account at LIVE.com and slowly start to migrate my emails there. I'm hesitant to do this however, it's kinda like moving and you always end up missing something.
Thanks for the help.
Hi mixedgasdiver and welcome to Seven Forums.
f you are just using Gmail to forward your mails to another account then it cannot forward the deletions so they will remain on you other accounts. If however you use an email client such as Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird to gather together all your mail accounts and you use the IMAP protocol to transfer the mails the mail folders will remain synchronized so your deletions will be reflected on the client.
I just started typing out an email in gmail's web application. I needed to cut or copy the text to Outlook but it wouldn't give me that option. Is there a way to do that or are you stuck once you start with the only option of deleting? I even went to my draft sub folder and it wouldn't let me move the text.
I have an email address with my ISP which is not Google. However, I also have a Gmail account with a totally different email address.
Now her is the question: My Gmail web mail software is much easier and faster to load and navigate than that of my ISP web mail software.
Is it possible to open my Gmail and have the emails from my ISP be retrieved on my Gmail?
DEAR ALL
Is there a way to transfer say about 100 odd emails from gmail to C: drive?? without using Outlook Express.
Can anyone suggest?
Hi captgnvr,This article by PC World Learn to use Gmail's features to their fullest potential contains a couple of interesting links, namely Gmail Drive and Gmail Space.

Hey all, new to the forum Summary of problem: my Hotmail and/or Gmail password keeps getting hacked even though basic anti-malware scanners say I'm clean. Background: Couple of months ago my Hotmail and Gmail accounts were hacked. I scanned using half a dozen of different programs (PrevX, Spybot, Malwarebytes, etc.) but didn't find anything. As I was still using shared passwords at the time and my Hotmail and Gmail were linked to each other as security backup addresses, I figured one of them must have been leaked. I switched to unique passwords, cleaned out all the emails' security options and carefully declared myself 'safe' again.Until this morning when my Hotmail/Gmail were hacked in the exact same fashion (the fake 'security email address' added was similar and they once again went after my World of Warcraft account). Scans once again show nothing, but an hour later after changing passwords there was still evidence of them having limited access.Question: Is there any way to more thoroughly check my system? Thanks in advance Edit: I run Windows Vista, 32-bit.
More repliesHaving got all of my standard stuff, including having MS Outlook handle my email accounts, sorted out; I decided to give the new Windows 10 Mail Application a try.
Unfortunately I cannot get it to do a darned thing:-
1. With my Hotmail account I get error code 0x80070032. I've tried a couple of suggested "solutions" without success.
2. With my Gmail account I get "We didn't find anything to show here" or "Still working on it". Either way nothing shows up.
Maybe I should just stick with MS Outlook.
However, if anyone could help I'd be very grateful.
For your Hotmail account, change the setting for getting the emails to 'last 3 days' and see if it works. If it does, change it back to whatever interval selection you want.
Usually when Google or other account say those, it's also a syncing issue. Might want to try playing with those settings as well.
I have both outlook.com (same as Hotmail) and Google working in the new Windows 10 mail app and even on my Windows 10 phone preview build. So they can work if you find the problems with your settings.
Hey there folks, I was wondering if there was a way that I can receive the messages that come into my Gmail account in my Hotmail account.
well for years iv used hotmail and gmail and since live went the way of the dodo ( yes i konw there are patch's out there) im wondering if there are any desktop widgets or firefox addons that will give me alarts when i get email thro both gmail and hotmail note i dont want to use the live mail client.

3 more repliesHello.
I've just noticed that I'm unable to sign into my hotmail account, though I'm able to reach the login screen. After attempting to log in I receive the message "Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at login.live.com.". I don't necessarily check my hotmail account everyday, but the last time I would have checked it couldn't have been any more than two or three days ago at the most.
It turns out I can't access my gmail account either. In this case I can't even get to the login screen, instead I receive the message "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.". I can access google.com itself though, but it looks unusual. The field(?) where you enter text is black, and so is a large rectangular portion of the screen - approximately the bottom 2/5ths of the screen. I don't see the google page very often but I'm sure that's not what it was supposed to look like.
I am able to access both email accounts from another computer in this house.
And finally, I can't update firefox from within, through the help menu. I was able to download the update directly from the site. It is up to date but I don't get a message about it being up to date, I get a message about there being "problems checking for, downloading, or installing this update. Firefox could not be update because: Connection Refused". I can't update the extensions from the ... Read more

I installed ZoneAlarm Free the other evening, and am now having some problems with email servers. Yahoo works just fine. However, I can not log on to Hotmail, Gmail or Outlook Express. I've tried using Internet Explorer, Firefox and MSN Explorer to log on to Hotmail and Gmail, with no such luck. My question is, how can I configure ZoneAlarm to work with these 3 items? Is it something completely obvious that I just happen to be missing here?
Strange Old Brew,
Check your firewall and advanced settings in ZoneAlarm.
What did you have installed before ZoneAlarm and what anti-virus are you using?

Hi, I have created an Outlook email signature image with two hyperlinks in it. I added an image map to the htm file to make this possible, and the signature and links display and work fine in Outlook, Windows Live Mail and when I check my hotmail account on my iPhone. However, on my PC, hotmail and gmail treat the signature differently; my old signature was an image with just one hyperlink, but this hyperlink appeared to be removed by hotmail and gmail - now, with the image map I have added, the hyperlinks exist in hotmail and gmail, but they seem to be displacing the image, pushing it it the right or downwards. Is there a way to allow hotmail and gmail to display the signature properly, so that the hyperlinks lay on top of the image?
Each hyperlink is 310x183px, signature is 621x183px

Hello
I suddenly found that my laptop would no longer let me open or save any attachments in either gmail or hotmail.
I get a message that says 'What do you want to do with 'GetAttachment...' followed by a huge string of numbers / symbols that bear no resemblance to the document name. (Usually, the documents i'm trying to save or download are .doc or .docx documents.)
When I click save, save as, or open, nothing happens. Usually there is no failure message, no timer - just nothing at all.
I have tried updating my edition of Microsoft Office. This made no difference. I have also run a virus scan, which revealed nothing. I have cleared my temporary internet history and cookies. And I haven't, to my knowledge, changed any settings on the computer that would prevent attachments from being downloaded.
If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful!
My laptop is 3 years old and can be a little temperamental but this is its only serious regular malfunction. I'm looking at replacing it if I can't solve this as it makes it unusable for what I need it for!
Thanks

I have several email addresses, always used Apple Mail (running Sierra ) suddenly yahoo is blocking any attempt to sign in, Google as well and Microsoft, they all ask for password and suggest a change in them, then they don't recognise it. They say to just use Yahoo app which will send the yahoo emails, they don't want any 3rd party. This has just been happening in the past week. I opened a new app (my mail) but I just read they don't protect your passwords? Had an error message when I downloaded SysInfo utility saying Safari can't open this as its Microsoft .

Hotlan Trojan Focuses on Hotmail, Gmail
A new Trojan has been created that can now bypass Hotmail and Gmail user authentication to create spammer accounts.
Criminals have worked out a way of bypassing the captcha security that should prevent automated systems from creating operational email accounts from which to churn out spam, according to research carried out by anti-virus company BitDefender.

3 more repliesHello,
I have noticed on many occassions that when people send me an email to our business email account it says something like -
"[email protected] on behalf of Joe Blogs <[email protected]"
How do people do this?
I can see one advantage of doing this because I could use any computer or mobile device to log into my Gmail account and check my business emails. Our current set up would require me to lug around my laptop.
Does this have something to do with the domain mapping options?
Are there any disadvantages to doing it this way? Will the original email still 'live' on our business server so it can be retrieved via Outlook 2010?
Any help or direction would be appreciated!
All the best,
Dave

Hello,
I'm trying to move all the old emails in my university OWA to gmail just to keep a record. I already know how to 'forward future incoming emails' using the rule option, but what I'm hoping to do is to move all the old emails that are already in the OWA. Is there anyway that I can do this without forwarding each email one by one ? (I have 300 ish emails!). I just want to keep a copy of all the communications, so either to forward them or to keep them as a file (in whatever format) will do just fine for me.
Got a weird email 5 days ago, now I get one everyday. Is this a hijack, or just spam, or what is going on?? Easiest if I just post ss of the 'thread'. (The blacked out email is my address)

Lol, you either intentionally or unintentionally sent a unsubscribe and, gmail is telling you it could not connect to the listed address and that it will try for two more days before giving up. What part of the message couldn't you figure out?
Hi,Just recently the emails that were going into my WLM account are being redirected
into my gmail account.
I sent a test btinternet.com email from WLM which goes into my sent folder but not my inbox.
Is there a way to set it up so that gmail goes to gmail account and my btinternet.com emails
go into my WLM account.
Thanks for any help.
OS is Wndows 7 64bit
Hello Tommy,
What do you mean by "WLM account" ?
Is this an @hotmail.com, or @outlook.com, or ISP (btinternet), or ... account?
WLM (Windows Live Mail) is a Client (installed on PC) email program and can have many email accounts.
Do you have multiple accounts setup in WLM?
Every email provider I know of also has a WEB site where the user can read/send/manage email.
Are you using WLM for some email, and WEB email for other email?
Each email provider may offer different protocols such as IMAP, POP, MAPI and that can make a difference in what folders are used for a client program such as WLM.
Then there's a "Windows Live account" if that's what you're talking about, and Skype can affect things from what I've read...
Below is a screen print from WLM 2012 showing my "WLM accounts".
I have 2 hotmail accounts here - 1 is MAPI, and 1 is POP...plus a gmail and outlook account...
I mainly use Office Outlook for all my email, but I do use WLM on "test" systems for email that I know I don't need to keep ...
As you said it's a "recent change", can you restore to a point before the problem started?
Do you know what changed to start the problem - Patch Tuesday updates perhaps?
Help please, how do I transfer gmail account to a new PC (both PCs are Win10)

A long time back, all my emails started going into my allmail box instead of my inbox.
Most of the time, that doesn;t bother me. But there are times, when i lose focus on the allmail.
Then I have to try and remember the shortcut to get back to allmail, or to go the sibebar, where Inbox is on top and below that "important" and so on. But to get to allmail, you have to go down to more, and find AllMail as a submenu in that. It might even be necessary to make the browser page smaller, so you can see the More menu.
So is it possible to either (a) get messages to go into inbox, or to bring Allmail up to the top of the sidebar, where Inbox is located.
The second one would be my first choice, as that's where my most of all my emails are ie in allmail.
But if i can only do the first thing ie get messages to appear in my inbox, is there a way to move all mails in my allmail box to my inbox?
update. Okay, after all these years, i have found out that all mail refers to archived mail.
So if all my mail is going into archived mail, does that mean that at one stage, i chose to have all my mail be archived. Perhaps I hit something invaderntly.
I came upon this, because I had another question about Archived mail. I was wondering if I was looking at mail, in all mail, and ticked a post, and chose to archive it, and then deleted it, was it still in the archive. But as I am in the archive (all mail) I am deleting it from the archive, or am I.
all mail refers to archived mailClick to expand...
No, All Mail is exactly what it says. Mail in every location: Inbox, any folders you created, archived emails, trash and spam.
There is a label in front of the subject line telling you where that particular email is located.
When you delete from the archive it moves to trash. You will see it in All Mail with Trash in front of the subject.
You can also see it if you open Trash.
Go to settings: (gear icon) then click on labels. If you cahnge All Mail from Hide to Show it will appear at the top rather than having to click the arrow aside of More.
I have registered in some blog or forum sites. I was oblivious of the item of "receive news from the site". Now I've got like hundreds of emails from those sites, which really annoyed me. Is there a quick settings in Gmail, which enables me block those emails with just a few clicks? Or do I have to go to those sites, sign in and find the button to cancel subscription? Thank you for your help.
Hi,
Isn't there a link for removing you from the subscription on the signature area (footer/bottom) of the body of message?
It will be usually listed as a link with name 'unsubscribe' or 'stop receiving the updates' etc.
Hello tech guys,
used to move some emails coming into the promotion tab to be received into the primary [inbox] directly,
after this I noticed that some of the newsletter senders keep flooding with lot of emails everyday,
I wanted to return them into the promotions tab,
I tried to practice the same steps - by:
filter message like this >> next >> create filter >>
but this did not work,
I tried this several times but still coming into my inbox directly, and I dont want to block or spam them.
just to redirect into the promotions tab,
Any solution or idea about this ti share here please?
thanks
I have just recently converted from using Windows Live Mail for my email to Gmail. Mainly because there was not an easy way to sync my contacts between WLM and my Android smartphone. Syncing is much better now, but the system differences is taking some getting used to. I notice when I am using Gmail and search for a past email, many times Gmail doesn't find it. I try it searching by contact name, by contact email address, and by subject. Of course, I can scroll back through my old emails and find it manually, but it is frustrating that Gmail cannot spot it quickly. It seems to have the most trouble when I am trying to find a SENT email. Sometimes, one I just sent yesterday. I click on the "Sent Mail" folder and the search box shows "in:sent". I type the info and nothing is found. I have tried it backspacing over the "in:sent", and with leaving the "in:sent" in place before my info. Neither way seems to help. Is there a setting I am missing?
Have you tried clicking the little black arrow next to the blue box with white magnifying glass to show search options??

Does anyone know how I fix this assuming it is the gmail.com account.

Every once in a while I'll have an email discussion with someone blow up. All of the emails are open, and they are in backwards order each in indenting a little off from the other one on their left margins, and they form a kind of systematic tree where they branch off of each other systematically.
I can't figure out how to put them back into order, and close them.
After that the gmail thread is totally shot, so I have to begin in another one.
It's done this for years.
You need to post screen shots. I have never seen Gmail "permanently unthread" a threaded discussion though you can change views. The relationship is in the e-mail headers themselves and all the e-mail client (or web interface) does is use that information to create a threaded view/conversation view.
16 more repliesI have just left my long time employer, and have many personal emails stored on a pst file in Outlook on my work laptop. I use an Imac and gmail at home, and would like to take a copy of the pst file on cd (or dropbox), then transfer it to my gmail. Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it? I have limited admin rights on my work laptop, but can ask my IT guy to take a copy of the pst file if required.
Thanks in advance,

As this is a work computer , you would need to consult with your IT and they should advise how to transfer to gmail.
I'm closing this post , as we cannot assist with work PCs
I have had bad experiences with all four. Is there anything else out there that is good and free?
Thanks

8 more replies(I have the release candidate 1 of IE8 (have had for ages)).
On my PC, I have 3 hotmail e-mail accounts, and my daughter has one.
If I sign in to my Windows Live messenger (any one of them, or my daughters') it signs in as normal and in the top right hand corner is the little tab which tells me I have "X" amount of e-mails.
If I click on that, I used to be able to go straight to them.
Now, it goes to a Windows Live sign-in page, and if I click to sign in on myself, it thinks for a moment and then stays on this windows sign-in page and I haven't signed in...
I can still use "chat" though...
Any ideas?
Bilbo.
PS...
In IE8 neither the wife nor daughter can sign in to their googlemail accounts, but I can access my G-mail in Firefox, and they can access theirGmail if I browse with Firefox/Safari.
All this is a recent development...
PPS.
If I copy and paste the login page into Firefox etc, I then CAN access the e-mails, so I suspect it is IE8 that has suddenly started causing the problems.
Bilbo.
I can still use google, gmail, and hotmail despite this, but only unless I bypass false certification, which warns gives the warning that it may be an untrustworthy site, but its annoying me. I've used CCleaner to clear my registry, and internet files and I still get these problems. I haven't had them until today as well.I took screenshots of what I'm talking about. I recently installed Nero Package to burn videos on my computer, and that's the last thing I've installed recently, and it wasn't giving any problems like this for two days now so I don't think it could be a new program messing me up.Here is what I'm running into. I also want to say that I closed Peerguardian, Azureus, Ventrilo, and any other software aside from McAfee AV trying to connect to these sites too.On firefox...For full resolution: 1680x1050 http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w327/Pa...ctionfailed.jpgThe timestamp on my clock is 7/26/08 as well and not 6/18.Screenie of actual message received: On IE...This is for hotmail...Full Resolution: 1680x1050 http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w327/Pa...lcertexpire.jpgScreenie of message received: Google.com certificate expiration on Firefox...Full resolution: 1680x1050 http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w327/Parad1sum/dss1.jpgScreenie of message received: Full resolution: 1680x1050 http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w327/Parad1sum/dss2.jpgScreenie of message received:
I would also like to clarify that I am using Windows XP and not Vista. I just use a Vista Skin because I like the design. I am using Windows XP SP 2 and am fully updated.
4 more repliesI have a hotmail account and would like to share one specific folder with a colleague. She uses Gmail but we could also use dropbox or a Hotmail account for her. The Hotmail folder contains messages that I have my hotmail account set to automatically move messages from certain senders to that folder and she handles those messages for me. Now, I have to forward those to her and am hoping to be able to do this automatically.
You can create a rule in Hotmail to automatically forward those messages to her, but you cannot share an email folder with her.

I already have two Gmail accounts. No doubt, Gmail is the best! But I don't want to have more Gmail accounts because it's a hassle to switch back and forth, even with FF extensions. It's easier to just click a different bookmark without even having to close my current email session to go to the other account. Hence I have a Yahoo account for all my less-important stuff, such as newegg promos, other promos, political emails, etc. However, I have some issues with Yahoo. There are some promos that I cannot receive, even after I added the domain name to my contacts list. It says on the website that my address is signed up, but I never receive the emails, either in inbox nor in the spam folder. Also, sometimes the yahoo account doesn't work right away. I don't want to bore you with details...
Anyway, the point is, I would like to replace my yahoo account with a different web-based email, but NOT gmail. And I think I want to try something other than hotmail also. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I have been using a Hotmail email address for over 15 years, using Live Mail since it was available. I would like to forward it to my Gmail account.
How do I do that?

Go to settings, and then Accounts and Import, then Add another email address you own, and follow the simple instructions. I have all my other emails forwarded to Gmail. It makes it easy to just go to one inbox.
Hi Guys,
For all the PC Gurus (or people who know something about PCs unlike me), I need help.
Hotmail: The webpage loads up, and asks me to login. I do, but then I get the Page Cannot Be Displayed.
Gmail: I type in the web address for the login page, get Page Cannot Get Displayed.
College Email: Same as Gmail
I have Win XP Media Edition (I think it has the features of Win Pro), SP2 came w/it, I have Norton 2005 AntiVirus, Use Ad-Aware and Spy Sweeper to search for SpyWare (have no viruses or spyware).
The webpages for those emails were working two days ago. I have not changed anything on my PC that I can think of. I have installed some programs like Divx.
Any feedback be appreciated.
Thank You
