Yoga 500-15IBD 80N6 Screen flickering on battery

Question: Yoga 500-15IBD 80N6 Screen flickering on battery

Hi everybody, when I unplug the charger on my yoga 500 the screen starts to flicker like a rave party, I have searched like crazy all over and have found no solution to the problem. Things already tested:-Unplugging and plugging battery cable.-Disabling Windows error reporting service and Problem reports and solutions-Trying to update intel drivers from driver section and intel site.-Trying to update, and disable realtek hd audio driver. Things to take in account:-When connected to a second monitor, the new one won't flicker.-Laptop has warranty voided because of ssd install. (problem still occurs on bios with and withouth an HDD/SSD) so it shouldn't be considered a Windows 10 problem.-After SSD install, windows update doesn't allow me to update anything. I believe it thinks I'm booting from external hard drive. I cloned the original HDD into the SDD so that shouldn't be happening-Flickers increase with mouse, cursor and touch. Anybody has a fix for this? I read that a lot of people have this problem but I rarely see fixes.proof video https://www.dropbox.com/s/gttvhylvggtug7x/2017-05-26%2013.00.00.mov?dl=0

Preferred Solution: Yoga 500-15IBD 80N6 Screen flickering on battery

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Yoga 500-15IBD 80N6 Screen flickering on battery

Hi, Nedeffv ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

While on AC power, Desktop>Right Click>Properties>Settings>Advanced>Monitor. Here, under Monitor settings, set the Screen Refresh Rate to 50 Hertz. After applying these settings, the blinking problem gets fixed.

Update us how it goes.

Whenever I'm using battery power my screen flickers like crazy. I've plugged it into several other HDMI devices and the flickering does not carry over. I've seen a lot of posts on here about driver updates / Intel Management Engine updates / Power Option changes and nothing I've tried so far has made a difference. Any suggestions?

Hey guys The screen of my Yoga 900 Screen has started to flicker, when I push the screen backwards. The screen turns black and there is a line on the screen for a slit second. It doesn't happen alsways and it's not always in the same position of the screen. Sometimes the screen turns back on as soon as I move the screen, sometimes it needs some more moving. I've conntected the laptop with an extended display, and it seems that only the screen of the laptop has this problem (no flickering on the second screen). Is there anything I can do or is it a warranty case? (It's a new laptop, I've bought it in December) Thanks for your help!

Over the last day or two, I've noticed the screen on my Lenovo 710-15 flickering numerous times. This used to happen every once in awhile, but since I did the latest BIOS update in the last 24 hours, it's happening way too often now. The machine was just purchased last month! I noticed there was a thread for other style model Yoga machines that have the problem, but not for this model.

The screen on my brand new Yoga 3 Pro (Windows 10) will suddenly start flickering and the keys don't respond for about 10 seconds, and then stop. It has happened when running on battery and on AC power and is extremely annoying when I'm typing in Word (2016), less so when I'm on the Internet. I use the machine mostly for text processing and web browsing, not really for gaming or watching movies, so it's not like I'm using that much processing power. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hello everyone,Recently, I got a Lenovo yoga 14(with Nvidia Geforce 940m and intel(R) HD Graphics 5500) on windows 10. I have one problem with it which is the screen flickers on and off if I have software such as store, bing news, google chrome and microsoft word open on maximised screen. I've tried turning down the resolution, turning of panel self-refresh and updating the video drivers, but it didn't work. Also I've noticed that when the screen is flickering the mouse moves back to the centre of the screen. Instead of pushing the maximised button, if I drag the borders of the software window and make it full screen, it doesn't flicker at all. Some advice would be much appreaciated, Roger

Hi Kaya,

Welcome to the Lenovo community!

This issue may occur due to several reasons. Let us start with opening Excel in safe mode. To do that, follow the steps below.

Hold the Windows key and press R, type excel /safe (note there is a space between excel and /).

If the application works fine safe mode, try disabling the add-ins for the application and check the result.
Click the File tab.
Go to Options.
Click Add-ins.
Clear all the options.
Hope this helps! Let us know how you get on.

The screen on my new Yoga 500 flickers uncontrollably when it's on battery power, rendering the laptop unusable unless it's plugged in at all times.  The battery settings are already on 'balanced' (the only advice Lenovo has so far offered). How can I get this fixed?

For some reason my screen on my laptop spontaneously flickers and basically looks like it's having a seizure. I've tried updating the display driver and updating the system and neither worked. I've also tried the solution that requires you to go to safe mode to disable "Windows error reporting" and "Problems Report and Solutions" and it still hasn't stopped flickering. I bought the laptop about a month ago and the flickering started about a week/week and a half ago. I'd strongly prefer to fix it at home and I really don't want to have to return it to Best Buy to buy a different laptop. Any suggestions/solutions?

What resolution do you have your screen set to? The native resolution or a different resolution? Started seeing this problem on a colleagues Yoga 3 when set to an intermediate resolution.

The laptop has been running well for many months. While using it today just looking at e-mail, the screen developed a very high frequency flicker. Restarting has no effect and the flickering is present during the Lenovo startup screen, so this is not a driver issue. Everything is up to date and I haven't installed any software or drivers for about a month. Definitely seems like a hardware issue. What do I do now?

Loving my Yoga 13 so far have had it since Oct 26th when it was released. Like everyone else I had some issues with partitioning yadda yadda yadda, got that taken care of, but lately I've noticed that my screen brightness seems to flicker, ALL the time, when switching from program to program if the color changes on the screen I notice that the brightness changes as well in noticeable increments. I have the automatic brightness setting set to OFF, so I can't imagine that's the reason.Anyone else having this issue?

For the past 3 months, i've been suffering with my screen flickering on the yoga 2 pro. I've installed and updated all drivers, especially the BIOS. However, nothing has worked for me. It started after previewing WINDOWS 10 as a tester and worsened after the public release - it used to work as champ on WINDOWS 8.1. The laptop is great, the only issue is the screen flickering. Although a lot of people have been complaining about this curse, Lenovo has ignored the problem.

I have a Yoga 2 Pro and ever since updating to Windows 10, I have had the occassional flickering screen issue (and so have many others, I presume). Is there any way to fix this, preferably without touching the BIOS? Also, I just realized that my right speaker is not working. Has anyone had the same issue/know of any fixes? Any help would be truly appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Flickering Screen and Speaker Issue

Try reinstallinng this:   https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/wwe3038e.exe for your flickering problem. This is Lenovo Energy Management driver. As farr as your speaker is concerned, try reinstalling this: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/13ka01af.exe . This is the audio driver. If the speaker still doesnt give sound from both sides, then one side might have been damaged.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro black and flickering screen

That periodical 5 - 30 seconds black flickering screen has tormented me on my Y2P ever since I upgraded to Windows 10. Just today in a Yoga 2 Pro tips discussion I read that the solution may be to disable Panel Self-Refresh in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel (Power -> On Battery). Too soon for me to tell if it works but I have my fingers crossed.

Hello everyone, I bought a Lenovo YOGA 500 15 15ISK  only a few days ago and today I had finally the time to unbox it and turn it on.I have to say I was quite impressed with the design and how light the laptop is. However, my good impressions pretty much stopped there. Upon loging in windows (laptop comes with Windows 10 preinstalled) I came across a painful screen flickering and a problematic mouse pointer movement (both with the mouse and touchpad). When I carried out an initial google search I was shocked with the number of people that had similar problems to mine, literally thousands!I have a good day trying to sort out the screen flickering (I have fixed the mouse pointer movement) and eventhough I found a couple of suggestions and solutions that initially worked, the problem returned after a few minutes. Furthermore, when I was browsing a webpage and then moved on to a new one I could see an imprint of the previous page, as if the previous letters were imprinted on the monitor. I have also experienced 4 times in about 6 hours a lovely black screen (dark grey actually) where the only option was to switch the power off after a few minutes in order to manage to get the screen to work again. My first comment is that I find it discraceful that a company sells a product in such state, especially since the problem is well documented by thousands of user. As far as I am concerned, and the law dictates, a new product has to be in full working order and work to... Read more

Answer:Lenovo YOGA 500 15 15ISK screen flickering.

How did you fix the mouse problem!? I bought the same computer and had these same problems.  I found the display driver issue online (screen flickering, seems to be be avoided if using Chrome instead of Edge or Firefox).  That was annoying but the biggest problem was the mouse.  With the trackpad or an external mouse (with updated drivers or rolling back) the issue persisted.  The problem can be described as the mouse not moving in a fluid motion, constantly getting stuck for just a small period, appearing jumpy or sticky.  It was incredibly frustrating.  I returned the laptop assuming it was defective, however the replacement unit had the same problem.  The problem only started after the computer performed its first Windows Update.  So I removed the security update (Windows wouldn't let me remove all the other updates), and the problem vanished.  However, a day later it did more updates and the problem was back.  Since I couldn't find documentation online, I wasn't aware if a fix was even being planned.  For a brand new laptop, it was pretty appaling.  It's a shame, because I like my old Lenovo laptop. On a side note - there are related problems with the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, so it might just be an Intel Graphics HD 520 / i5-6200U problem.  But at this point, I don't want a Lenovo OR any other laptop with that processor...

I've found some similar issues but not quite the same. I think I've solved this but want to hear from anyone who's had similar issues in case I should get it replaced. The screen did a bunch of flickering the very first time it was switched on - a bit like you see sometimes when you update video drivers on a Windows PC. I put it down to the initial setup that it was probably doing however my son tells me that it's flickered a few times in the last week. Today though, the screen turned off completely even though we could hear the video he was watching so the unit itself is still working. At this stage I went through a bunch of diagnostic steps (albeit with zero experience of Chromebooks). I couldn't seem to hard reset it with combinations of refresh/esc/power etc. Plugging into AC did nothing. Plugging it into a TV with HDMI showed a Chrome-like blue background but no cursor or controls. All the while, still just the black main screen. A gentle shake or two did nothing so it doesn't seem like a loose connector/physical thing. My solution - I created a recovery USB key and the instant I plugged that it, the screen came on with the recovery process. I completed that and it seems fine, for now at least. This suggests to me there's a software issue - somehow it got itself into a state where the screen was turned off. Anyone else had similar? Does it sound like I should get the unit replaced or is this a software glitch only?

My Lenovo 910 is crashing about once daily.  Typically, this occurs when I am using an Office 316 app.  The entire screen will start wildly flickering.  Nothing on the screen is legible after it starts.  No keyboard or mouse responses stop the flickering, including Ctrl Alt Del.  Shutting the lid in the hopes of entering sleep mode doesn't work either.  The flickering is completely unchanged in spite of the lid being shut.  The only solution is a hardware restart.

Hi, I've recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 3-1170 (80J8), and all worked well till I decided to have dual boot Windows/Linux. Linux works great. I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 in Legacy mode. It worked well untill the HD5300 graphics card driver was installed when the screen started flickering. I've been trying like mad  all possible drivers, screen brightness and power-saver configurations but nothing worked. Then I realized it could be the UEFI, so I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 on UEFI mode and worked fine. If I then change to Legacy support with UEFI as first option, the screen flickers again although Windows is in the UEFI. So it's clearly a problem of the BIOS. Any idea how to solve the problem? Lenovo guys, are you gonna provide a BIOS update? Thanks a lot

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 14 Flickering Screen and Active Pen

Hi

I have a TP Yoga 14, it is similar but it is different model (20DM008UUS).

I also have the Intel HD 5500 and NVidia 940M, also on 1920 x 1080 with Windows 10 and I have flickering on the screen.

Do you want to give it a try updating the drivers of the Intel HD 5500 and NVidia 940M?

Maybe you already know that you can download the driver of your model here, but I will like to also share my tips for updating the drivers.

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers.

My screen starts flickering when the battery hits about 75% and gets worse as the the battery gets lower. I have tried to change the power management settings like they say to do in another question like mine and I also checked the connection between the screen and motherboard to see if it was loose. It's still flickering.

Hi, I love the Yoga 2 Pro. But i have fews issues with it. Especially when used on battery. My screen flicker from time to time. The onyl fix i found was to close the lid to put the laptop to sleep and the reopen it. Not very convinient. An other issue I encounter is the screen blanking after a while when the computer is not in use. It's like the computer blank the screen to save battery power, but when you want to reuse it again, it won't start again. Hello everyone; Because of this problem, I had a notebook changed with the exact same one, for I'd had this problem since the first time I'd turned on the device, and I never solved the issue on that notebook, though I tried many advised solutions on these forums, youtube etc. However, this notebook have come with the same problem. At first time, it seemed like it occurred less than it did on the previous device, and I thought that maybe those solutions would work this time. But it has become more frequent when I have started to run some other applications. I have tried those solutions again; - I have disabled the battery saving modes on Intel Graphics,- I have disabled the adaptive brightness on power management settings,- I have done the BIOS update,- I have done the driver update (done it before but now I also have the problem of updating the driver since the latest update of Windows 10, I can never install a driver update now)- I have disabled the Windows Error Reporting Service and Problem Reports and Solutions Control Panel Support on System Configuration. Despite all these, the flickering never stopped!!! I have been absolutely mad after all these issues. I don't want to make another change of device. There has to be an absolute solution. Please give me a prompt reply. Thank you in advance.

Dear Lenovo Team Been fortunate enough to have exchanged my prior 2 Yoga Pros 3 for a new one via retailer. Everything has been running smoothly on the first day until I noticed some short white lines (cannot determine the length as it is only visible against dark backgrounds and flickers lightly for 2-3 seconds) on different parts of the screen. The laptop has been switched on for around 8 hours and used for browsing with no documents or apps opened. Whether it be connected to a power adaptor, running on battery only, in laptop or in tent mode, placed on different surfaces, this has occured 5 times already. This is my third Yoga Pro 3... I will not be able to (or would want to ask retailer to exchange it) but am hoping that I will not have to send it to a service centre - since it's brand new and a lot of time and energy has been spent on this product by all parties. Should I wait and see first after all the main updates have finished? Would appreciate any help and advice. Thanks

Answer:Brand New Yoga Pro 3: Screen flickering white lines

I would not wait, I would contact tech support. Make sure to tell them about the previous machines from the same retailer. I have no idea what would cause that many machines from the same retailer have the same problem, My Y3P went thru UPS and I have had Zero problems (other than a few update issues) with it.

So, I have 3 problems.
My screen flickers when trying to adjust volume, which is stuck at 100% and won't decrease and when It does, it increases back to 100% automatically.
My cursor has also disappeared, luckily my laptop is touch screen so it's still possible to use.

I have a Lenovo yoga 500-14IBD (ideapad).

Please could someone offer me some guideance as to what to do?!?!

Many hanks

Answer:Yoga 500: Volume problems, screen flickering and no cursor

Flicker... You mean like no image at all or ? Just wondering if it's something full of artefacts or quickly on/off? Because those things you describe sounds like it's thinking that the row of function keys are pressed at random. You can turn off/on screen (f9), enable/disable trackpad (f6) and adjust volume (f2-f3) and brightness can also be adjusted. Wondering has it been subjected to water or other damage?

I just purchased my laptop about a month ago and when in normal use starting from log in the screen starts to flicker constantly and the screen would also black out here and there. When I boot it in safe mode everything runs fine and the screen doesn't flicker or black out so I'm guessing that it's a graphic driver issue and not a hardware?  I've updated everything in Windows 10.. the drivers are also all updated (Intel HD Graphic 620 and Nvidia Geforce 940MX). I've also tried uninstalling all the drivers and reinstalling them. I've disabled Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel Support & Windows Error Report Service from services in Task Manager. I've tried everything you can think of but can't find a solution!!! Any suggestions and help is much appreciated!!

Hello.
I have a Lenovo laptop that has had the usual screen flickering from the day I bought it. Many users on this forum and online report Identical problems.  I learned to live with it although using the unit on battery is hit and miss as you never know when the screen will flicker and go black. It started out as a quick flicker, but now it just goes black until I plug the unit in. From everything I am reading, Lenovo has installed defective display screens in these units and expects the consumer to pay for the repair. I guess you get what you pay for... Lenovo lures us in with good prices, then, wham, the display dies on battery power. Very poor business model and last Lenovo I am buying. From now on I will pay the extra $100 and go for a Dell or an HP.

Hi, I have the following issue since a couple of days (not sure it came with a recent windows/drivers upgrade): When I set the screen brightness to low, or the screen dims itself in a dark environment, it starts to flicker - there are flashes of white/blue as long as the brightness is low. Increasing the brightness gets rid of the problem. I tried disabling the panel self reflesh (PSR) which seemed to help others, but no success there. Anybody got the same issue and a possible solution? My specs: Windows 10 1709, Intel Graphics Drivers Version 21.20.16.4727 Video of the flickering:

It seems like hardware to me but hopefully it is a software issue that can be fixed.

I updated a recently purchased Yoga 3 Pro to Windows 10 using the media creation tool and clean install method.  Upon loading Windows 10, I was immediately met with issues with the display: - large number of glitches/artifacts that generate constantly on the screen- screen flickers occassionally- graphics driver crashes on a normal basis with error message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered..." I have updated the BIOS, and have downloaded all updates from the Lenovo support site.  I have also tried using the display driver directly from Intel and Microsoft. The large amount of artifacts that happen on a normal basis make this pretty much unusable.

I have been experiencing a problem in the last week when my laptop is plugged into mains and has been running a while when I remove the power cable and run off the battery. The screen constantly flickers. If I then plug mains back in it is fine again.

If I reboot with power cable out the problem goes away but I wont to know what is causing the problem is it something to do with the power inlet on laptop where it attaches to mobo? That's only idea I've had searching for similar problem or possibly could it be the AC adapter itself?

Hey! Got myself a brand new Yoga 910 and installed the latest BIOS update to fix the fan noise issue: http://support.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/downloads/d... However, immediately after installing the update, the screen started having graphical glitching issues with artifacts flickering on the screen all the time. For example, if I'm on my desktop, I have the Trashcan and Spotify icon at the top of my desktop, and I will see "ghosts" of these icons flickering over the lower half of the screen. I tried updating the graphics driver to the latest version but it didn't help: http://support.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/downloads/D... The graphical artifacts that flicker on the screen seem to be based on what content I have on the screen currently. The computer was fine when I got it. My exact process has been: Getting the computer, everything is fineRunning Windows UpdateUsing the computer, everything is fineDownloading and installing latest BIOS updateNoticing flickering which never was there before the BIOS updateRestarting computerInstalling Intel DriverRestarting Computer But it's still flickering all the time. Needless to say this makes the laptop unusable.

December of 2016 I purchased a Lenovo for the first time in my life as a Christmas present to myself, having some bit of doubt I went out on a limb because it was a sale at Costco.   It was about February of 2017 that I first began to experience a disruptive flickering in the screen when I moved my laptop from one surface to another. In March 2017 the problem began to make the system barely usable. Requiring me to shut the screen and reopen it to get it working again. Sometimes that would work and I had to perform a hard shutdown. I contacted Lenovo support around this time to see about getting it repaired, the only options were to send it in or drop it off at best buy for repair. My preference was to send it in to Lenovo for repair, thinking that their repair facility would be better equipped.  Unfortunately this was the same week I was heading back to The Netherlands for 7 weeks and this laptop was the only way I could skype back and forth with my kids while away. I opted to deal with the problem as frustrating as it was. Flash forward to November 2017, I finally got around to being able to send it to Lenovo. I travel often and for the reasons above would rather have had an intermitting system than nothing at all however in after returning from over a month in Brazil, I was completely fed up! I finally was able to commit to backing up all my data and sending it off.   I received my laptop back in late November 207 just in time for my next ... Read more

After installing the BIOS updater off of the lenovo website, and the updater runs for the first time, this is the error message i get""the version of rom file is the same as that of bios"screenshot attached I am attempting to fix the yellow colour issue. Does this mean that the update was already installed?  I received my Yoga 2 Pro on the 23rd of December, so was it already pre-installed? Also, when my brightness is on low, especially in dark enviroments, i can see a flickering (not the brightness adjusting itself, i already turned that off in the three places that auto-brightness was on). I do not notice it on higher brightness'. It happens whether it's plugged in or running on battery.

Hello everyone, I have an ageing X60 (details in signature) which has a minor probem with the screen. For some reason, whilst running on its battery, the screen with flicker/judder once or twice in a row. Otherwise it is fine. The screen is running at 50hz and otherwise performs well. For example, whilst running through the power adapter there is no flicker/judder whatsoever.  Does anybody know has this can be solved? Many thanks for any help in advance. Ahren. PS: The battery is not in perfect condition. It is an 8 cell extended life battery but can only hold 61% of its original capacity. I don't know whether that would be affecting the screen.

I have a Tecra 8200 running Windows 2000 Pro. The problem is with screen brightness flickering intermittently, every few minutes when on battery power. The Toshiba power saver utility seems to work OK; its response seems to depend on battery life remaining, ie below 50% there is no difference between "normal" and "long life" with respect to screen brightness.
Above 50% there is no difference between "normal" and "high power". There are no problems at all when running on AC power.

I recently changed the battery; the original was a PA3062U-1BAR, but the new one is a PA3062U-1BAT. Could that be causing problems?

Answer:Tecra 8200: flickering screen brightness on battery usage

Hi

I'm pretty sure the battery replacement is not the cause of the flickering. If the battery would be bad or not compatible (it IS compatible, I know!) you would experience more problems like not able to fit it properly, not charging, giving way to short run times...

I think the flickering comes from problems with either the FL-Inverter or maybe the FL-tube.
The unit you have is not so new anymore and the tubes wear out eventually. It might not mean that the tube is about to go out completely, but it could mean just that it is not as bright as it was when new, and the lower light modes are harder to sustain in an even way.

What you could do is to make sure that you do not have a connection problem that might interfere.
Remove the mask in front of the screen and locate the FL-inverter board. It is a single PCB and should be just below the TFT.
Disconnect and reconnect the incomoing and outgoing connectors a few times. But please please please be very careful not to damage the cables or connectors.

Try to use the low light again and see if it still is flickering. If so, you might just either turn up the brightness another level (means shorten the battery runtime) or consider turning the unit in for repair.

Good luck

Tom

Hi, I've tried looking for tech specs (I know the hardware specs) for the monitor so I can work out what pen/stylus would be best for the touch screen. However, I can not find this particular product (spec specific) on the website.  If anyone could help me out that would be great, Ideally I'd like something with pressure levels as I do digitally draw from time to time, and would be helpful whilst writing. But would settle for something that isn't due to owning a GFX tablet anyway. Also, I'm unsure if this ideapad is referred to as a 15, 500 or 8 due to not know where this terminology is based from (model name, model series ect) seems unclear, perhaps I'm just looking into it too much and it is just a 500. Thanks to anyone that spends time reading, and thanks in advance for advice. ~Kris

I bought the yoga 500-15IBD(w/i5 5200U;GT 940m and 8G of RAM) in summer of 2015. At first the notebook is doing fine. But at mid-late 2016 the notebook start acting strange, the CPU start lock the frequency at 0.44 Ghz while charging. I find out that the BD prochot is the reason and I disable it with throttlestop. Then when I start gaming for few minutes the laptop just shut down, because of overheating. So I try playing game with BD prochot on and with battery. And the gameplay become very laggy. Not like low fps, but just very laggy. I monitored the CPU and the CPU just get throttled massively frequently and the frequency just go up and down. Which never happen before, the laptop used to be at least playable with consistent (low) fps.  What should I do. Is some component damaged? Should I clean the fan (I checked the fan and it seems fine to me)? Should I charge the thermal paste?  ps I try to stress test both CPU and GPU, it's fine when doing test alone. But when testing both CPU and GPU the temp of CPU just go sky high (~100 C) and the GPU seems to be cool in terms of temperature(75 C)and than the laptop shut down. Even when testing GPU only while CPU is idle both temp got ~75 C. When doing only CPU test CPU temp ~88 C max and GPU stay at ~55 C. It seems the GPU is transfering heats to the CPU.

All of a sudden the Laptop turns black, all lights and the hdd turns off and I have to connect the power cord to get it started again - although the Battery certainly isn't empty according to the OS-Battery indicators AND often having the Laptop fully charged less than half an hour ago. (The Yoga runs for at least 3 hours if the bug does not appear). Now this is no driver issue, I have the problem while running Windows 10, Linux Mint and Backbox Linux. I suppose it's either a battery issue or a faulty architectual design. Since  I see a lot of similar power-off related messages accross the spectrum of lenovo devices, could someone finally publically explain the source of the problem so there is a chance to get rid of it ... especially in future products?

I have a web-camera issue with my notebook. It doesn't work. It used to work once or twice. But then suddenly something went wrong. Neither works mic. When I opened my windows 10 "Camera" app it said "Can't find camera". I checked device manager for drivers issues and couldn't find anything about camera. So I added a knew device "Lenovo EasyCamera". My "Camera" app still doesn't work. So I tried to fix in with Lenovo Settings. But there is no any camera folder in it. Reinstalling still didn't fix it. Also I tried installing drivers with official Lenovo website. Still nothing.

Hi, I got a problem with my laptop. The fan is making loud noise everytime I open a new window, a new tab, any setting window and so. I believe it is supposed to make this kind of noise when I'm stressing it with more programs running, not by simply open the files explorer... Any idea on what to do? (model is Lenovo Yoga 500-15IBD)ThanksNstant

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500-15IBD loud fan noise

Hi Nstant,  Most probably a program or App is running at the background cause fast spinning fan to cool down CPU temp.  To figure it out, right click in your taskbar and from the opened menu click on task manager.  -From top menu click on performance tab then click on resource monitor ==> from top menu click on CPU tab and look at to the Average CPU usage and see which App or Program is using a high percentage of your CPU capacity==> right click on it and end the process.  .Regards,  **If the issue has been resolved please, mark me as solution provided to help others find the solution easily and click the Kudos.**

Answer:Yoga 500 - 15IBD - Bios update went wrong

What you can see there is a Boot menu. Your laptop can't boot from disk and display boot selection menu. Try to enter BIOS (can't say how to do it, as you didn't told which Yoga model do you have) and try to change boot settings from UEFI -> Legacy (or in other way) and/or disable Secure Boot. Check if after these changes your laptop will be able to boot.

I am having issues with my current WIFI card not picking up a signal from any distance... and when closer, not always holding a signal.  After playing with software upgrade options, I'm considering a WIFI card upgrade, and would like advice as to the ease and value of this option.  Thank you in advance for your time and attention in reply.   Mike Luke

The Bluetooth version is combo Wifi Broadcom 4335/ Bluetooth Brcm2045It always show as working device in Device Manager. Can turn on, turn off. Can descover and pair with other out side device such as Smartphone. Browing file on other device is ok. Now let try to transfer files back and fort, very terrible, it only works for small file, let say less than 100kb. For larger file, the transfer always stuck at some point varies. Try to change the Smartphone, change the angle, position of the laptop and the phone, the transfer speed some time change but, extremly slow. This is hardware fault, should I take it to warranty? How to talk to them and how do they would reply.Do they just say it is working? Or do they erase my laptop?

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500 15IBD mystery restarts (BSOD)

Is this while running idle or under load? What surface is it being used on? (getting at ventilation) Leaning towards heat, but could be power issues or something else. Scape that, just noticed the dropbox links (its been one of those days) if memory serves bad_pool_caller is a processor 'misfire' Check in device manger that the processor is running correctly (ie flags 'device is working properly' this is stated in the devices properties (right click DM entry) ) if need be,uninstall, and have windows install them (this can be done in the right click menu of the device in DM selecting 'update driver software') Normally if this doesn't fix the issue its very often software based, ie something installed is causing the issue, bad drivers probably the top contributors, but not exclusively. Posting the .dmp file (google is your friend) would almost certainly flag the culprit.

Hi,
I recently upgraded my Lenovo Yoga 15-IBD to an SSD, with a complete reinstall of Windows. Everything was working great; boot times were quicker and the system was far more responsive. However, the computer randomly freezes now, without any warning. I have to do a hard reset. Reliability monitor gives no clues of what the problem might be. The SSD is brand new, and passed a 'long' test this morning.

I have no idea where to go next; I seems that there is one problem after another with this laptop!

Thanks for your help!

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500-15IBD Freezes Randomly after SSD Upgrade

Hi soopg.

When it freezes is there anything being logged in the event viewer? (System / Application / Other)

Have you looked at your Storage drivers. Before attempting to update please ensure you have an Image you can fall back to if required. While investigating would also be a good idea to have data backed up. You said this was a clean install so you likely have that point covered.

If you don't have a tool you could check out Macrium Reflect. Free, reliable and tutorial with forum.

You may wish to check out the Driver Verify process.

This tutorial will guide you through the verification process, heed the warnings. Assuming it fails follow the posting instruction in the BSOD section of forum.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable in Windows 10

The tutorial states make a restore point. Seems to be a lot of people having issues using restore points hence have an Image.

My Yoga 500 ideapad totally loses it when I plug it into power. The CPU slows down imidiately and runs at 100% usage every time I make an action (opens Chrome takes like 30 seconds). In Speccy, I can see, that the CPU runs at a speed of approx. 500 Mhz (Core speed). If I unplug the laptop, the speed goes up to like 1,9 Ghz when I opens chrome (chrome opens instantly) and CPU usage maxes out at 40% or so. I can now close Chrome, plug in the laptop once again, and if I open chrome now,it maxes out at 500 Mhz speed with 100% CPU usage. I have just completely reinstalled windows (10, 64 bit) hoping that this would solve the problem. But it haven'tI have downloaded ALL the drivers and software possible from Lenovos own support page for my laptop, I have ran numerous tests from Lenovo, and other thirdparty applications, no one in which finds any problems. What should I do? I have done everything in my power to try and fix this problem. I have tried every possibly advanced power options, I have even changed the "when plugged in" power options to match the "on battery" ones, but without any change in performance. I cannot figure out, if this is a problem with my power supply? Or the CPU itself? And no tests suggests any problems...  Anyone able to help me out with troubleshooting? (Yes, I have restarted multiple times, I have updated everything in windows update and drivers using Lenovo support page and a third party driver update software (driverbooster from... Read more
