Temp Users In Users Folder

Question: Temp Users In Users Folder

Why are there 56 temp users in my Users folder? They don't appear in the regular Windows' User Accounts, so I can't delete them there. Should I just delete all these folders?

Preferred Solution: Temp Users In Users Folder

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I have recently noticed that in my c:users folder I have a folder called TEMP, I am certain that it wasn't there before and it is modified every time I boot up the computer. When I look inti this folder there isn't anything in there. Is it normal to have this folder?

Answer:temp folder in c:\users

Temporary folders can be placed anywhere. Check the environmental variables (Start-> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment variables). Usually there are two temporary folders, TEMP and TMP defined for every user, as well as for the system. I usually put them away where I am unlikely to look, just to reduce clatter. It could be that in your system one of these folders is set to be in C:\Users.

Otherwise, check if you have installed any new programs recently, some programs create their own temporary folders.

Finally, if the folders is accessed at start-up, then you could look into the system's logs to find out which process is looking into the folder.

Hey,

I am using Windows 7, but its much the same as Vista so I figured anything that would fix this problem in Vista would do the same in Windows 7. Anyway on to the problem, my users folder "Hynesy" has been changed to a new folder called "TEMP", thus I've lost all my user settings, any ideas on how to fix this?
Cheers
Hynesy

Answer:Users Folder changed to temp

Right, go to Internet Management live console, in User Extreme Settings quick access layout, using your 4D mouse

No I'm joshin you, I don't know any steps in Windows7

My new Dell desktop runs Vista Home Premium and has a 600GB internal hard drive.

My system backs up to an ext drive daily, and it looks like the Vista back-up app is ALSO stashing back up files on the internal hard drive under:

c:\users\pc\AppData\Local\Temp folder.

I deleted all these back up files, but they're coming back.

How do I keep them from coming back?

Answer:c:\users\pc\AppData\Local\Temp folder

those are temporary files that windows & other programs create because they are needed for certain operations.

Just one example, when my antivirus says an update is avilable, it is downloaded to the temp folder then installed from there.

The problem is they are never deleted, you either have to do it manually or download a program like ccleaner to clean them out.

Can anyone help me regain Security Permissions to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data Folder which I lost while looking at the access rights. I mistakenly closed the box while playing with the access rights and lost any access to the file.
I pulled the access rights to the file using icacls they are below.

application data
D:PAI(D;OICI;FA;;;WD)(A;;0x1200a9;;;WD)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY)(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)S:AI

I am thinking I can change the information in the file and restore it. Not sure exactly what to change?

I was also thinking I could pull the info from another computer running with the same operating system and reapply them to this file? Would this work?

I looked at Previous Versions of the upper level folder. Can I restore a previous version of this whole folder? Will it restore the Application Data folder with the prior permissions?

Answer:Lost Access Permissions to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data Folder

Are you asking about the Application Data or Appdata folder?

If Application Data, this is not a real folder but a junction used to allow interface with legacy programs. No access is necessary since it is pointing to the Appdata folder.

Got a problem here with a classroom full of Windows XP Pro PCs, where if I put new shortcuts into All Users\Desktop, when a user logs on they can only see the shortcut as an unknown file type which does not run. Any existing shortcuts in All Users\Desktop work ok, just not any new ones!

The PC's are on a Windows 2003 Server network (with AD) and have local user profiles.

Answer:Network users cannot run shortcut items placed into All Users Desktop folder

Logged into cmd prompt as admin.
Cannot see C:\users\all users with the following cmd's

Folder does not show in normal File Explorer window
Run TREE cmd and the All Users folder does not show.
Run DIR cmd for C:\users and All Users does not show
Run ATTRIB -s -h C:\users and still do not see All User folder appearing. Restart after running ATTRIB cmd, but does not trigger reload of folder.

BUT, when I
Run DIR cmd for "C:\users\all users" the folder and files show
Run ROBOCOPY and the All Users folder and its files transfer.

Somehow this folder has become hidden and I am unable to unhide or see it.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Unable to see folder C:\users\all users

Windows does not have a folder All users. It is a link to C:\ProgramData folder, in other words when you run command DIR "C:\Users\All Users", it lists the content of folder C:\ProgramData.

check your C:\Users folder, see if there's a user in there call Temp. If so, your folder should be in that user's desktop folder.

What does this mean:  C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Local\Temp\ScrC777.temp\_FRBatch.pac was not found, and how can I resolve it?
I usually see it on start up  after "sleep".
Thanks

Answer: C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Local\Temp\ScrC777.temp\_FRBatch.pac was not found

Hi TedRayWesty,
When your computer ?wake up? from ?sleep? mode, the RAM will be able to respond to a wake-up event and calling files for program. There might be a calling failure. I searched about your temp folder name and the temp file name and seems like it is not a system
file and it is called by some third party software.
Try following steps to resolve your issue
Please perform a clean boot and see if the issue still persist.
Check the other contents in ScrC777.temp folder see if you could identify the software.(seems like some Security Software or Anti-Spyware)
Uninstall it and delete the temp folder see what happens.

Today I removed/installed new Nvidia drivers for my GTX 480.

Now I have a new folder in my Users folder called TEMP (C:\Users\Temp). I have deleted this twice and Win7 just created a new one. I have installed new drivers before using the exact same procedure that I did today and have not had this happen before.

This Temp folder has all the same default folders and files as my User folder did (C:\Users\RJS) when I first installed Windows.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this and not have Win7 rebuild it? It is no big deal, but I just do not like my OS cluttered with useless stuff.

Answer:How do I get rid of C:\Users\TEMP

This is a temporary user account. It is generally created when there is a problem or forgotten password with a user profile and provides a temporary logon. I had one once and I think I had to go to Control Panel/Add Remove users and delete it from there.

I just got the task of setting up a wireless network for 300-350 users in one large ballroom for a week long seminar. I have no equipment at this time. We will be setting up in a hotel ballroom. Wired is not an option. The hotel charges for every wired connection even through switches or our own routers, but does not charge for wireless connections. We tried negotiating and the hotel would not budge. $1,000 per wired connection for one week no discounts for large numbers. $300 to connect and $100 per day of use use per wired device. We are not paying $350,000 for one week of net access. Do it wireless and its $1,000 for each base station. Yeah its a gouge either way, but wireless is obviously much less.

So, Any suggestions? I have mostly worked with wireless nets of 50 or less users. I did some support on a much large wireless net but it was spread out over several buildings and never had more then 20-30 users on any one AP. This is going to be 300-350 people in one room. Tables will be classroom style. They will be using the network for internet access to view web pages. I don't expect heavy usage. (no streaming video etc)

We are doing this one time for one week so I don't want to fork out for a high end Enterprise solution if I don't have to. It does need to be reliable and just work. I will need access restriction of some kind weather PSK encryption or some PW based restriction.

Any suggestions thoughts?

Answer:setting up temp wireless net for 300+ users

30 users per AP is about the max that you will want to do, granted I have seen Cisco APs with 90 users, the performance is awful.

The next problem you run into is that you only have 3 wireless B channels that do not overlap (1,6,11) which would be 3 APs * 30 users = 90 users ... a far cry from 350 users.

You options: slim. Do all of your clients support 802.11A which has 8 non overlapping channels.

You should use intelligent APs and a wireless lan controller that can balance loads, change Tx/Rx power, and allow AP hopping.

The cheap way to do this, although it may have significant problems, is to purchase a dozen 'cheap' linksys APs, and crank down the power to the lowest levels possible and spread them out evenly over the conference. You could potentially return the APs to your local worst-buy if you don't see any problems with that.

As far as authentication, leave the APs completely open, and use a captive portal authentication system such as M0n0wall.

I've had a Google search redirect issue on my Vista laptop for several days now, and different antivirus programs have all found different threats at different times, and at other times found nothing. They typically clean the threats, the redirect either goes away or doesn't, and inevitably returns after a little while. The last thing I did was run a scan with TDSSKiller which cleaned a threat and restarted. Now on startup I get an alert window titled "Desktop" which says

Could not load or run 'C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\csrss.exe' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

I have reached this point before in the cleaning process, and the redirect issue again returned after a little while. Below is the Hijackthis log. Any help would be awesome!

As I mentioned before, I had inherited my Lenovo ThinkCentre M75e 5042A7U. Let's call the person I inherited from "ORIGINAL OWNER".

Now, whenever I run MG, I invariably find, in addition to a PUP that is registry data for Dogpile, 68 other PUPs that are all identical:

PUP.Optional.CrossRider
C:\Users\ ( ORIGINAL OWNER ) \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i6wqd.default-1359751077217\prefs.js9oq

And in C:\Users, I have found 56 users that don't show up in User Accounts:

TEMP
TEMP.(ORIGINAL OWNER)-THINK
TEMP.(ORIGINAL OWNER)-THINK.000

(etcetera)

TEMP.(ORIGINAL OWNER)-THINK.053

Any ideas on what this is all about? Should I just delete all these users?

Hi what in this case is "MG"?
If its the full read and run me malware guide HERE then you should wait for an all clear before going down different routes of tech troubleshooting,

Personally with an inherited PC or Laptop I would always clean install Windows again so main user is you... use the option of a factory restore, really would not mess around with cleaning various user accounts.

I want to redirect all users temp folders to an encrypted drive (I'd be just as happy to encrypt them in place using efs but I already have an encrypted drive)

Is there a way I can make any user account on a machine redirect to a different base path or something? Or force all temp folders to be encrypted in place?

I'd prefer to do this in a scalable way and one that will affect any new users like Group Policy or something.

Any ideas?

Hi, this is my first posting. :)

My friend was just infected by Spy Sheriff :( He uses Window XP Home edition. He got instruction from an online support, which part of the procedures is for him to use the CleanUp! software and using Custom CleanUp! which invovles the following:

-> Empty Recycle Bins
-> Delete Cookies
-> Delete Prefetch files
-> Scan local drives for temporary files
-> Cleanup! all users

Once he clicked "OK" to CleanUp!All users, his computer lost all icon images, he cannot see any icon on task bar, I.E. and can't even start some applications. But he still have Spy Sheriff on his wall paper :(

Can this be fixed? how?

Please kindly help ASAP!

I am no computer guru and it is in Windows 7 that I had first discovered - beyond suggested deleting any of this files content - that by just doing so saved me from countless nightmares.  Given the new Window's 10 format I am on the hunt for just that exact capability; but, I am finding that this file seems to no longer exist?  Can anyone tell me what has become of this file?  Is it diguised in a new file in Windows 10 or has Windows 10 diminished any threat of this appdata temp file from taking over a good chunk of memory or even hosting any possible ill temp data?  Whatever information one could give me will be much appreciated - - much thanks in advance

Hi,

I have a Win7 system with 3 users defined on it. One is my account with admin privileges, the others are two standard users (belonging to "Users" local group). The machine is not in a domain.

It happens randomly that, loggin on with the standard users account, the Win7 builds a temporary profile informing the user that it was not possible to access the files of their profiles and that the temp profile will be deleted after use.

When I am in this situation the only thing I can do to make the simple users log on with their profiles is to restart the PC.

Does anyone know how can I identify where is the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Win7 logging users with temp profile

Hi Paolo -

Here is a tutorial on the fascinating phenomenon of temporary user profiles -

If that doesn't work for you, I suggest that you re-install Windows 7.

Hello,

We are currently in the process of updating the Windows machines at the university that I work up to Windows 7 from XP. Recently we have been noticing issues when students log into the machines where it might randomly login to a TEMP profile over the Domain Profile.

Any ideas on why this might be?

Answer:Temp Profiles being created on Domain Users Accounts Win 7

I would check to see if you are using redirected folders on the server for the users in question. I have seen problems because of the different folder structure for the "?sers" folder in xp versus win 7.

Hey Guys,

If you are using Kaspersky on Windows XP, and your Blue Shift is not working, I may have a solution for you. If you go into Kapersky, go to My Security Zone and then application activity. Go to Category and then click all. Scroll down until you find everything to do with Blue Shift ( Half Life Launcher, installation etc). Right click on each of these and change the status to Trusted. The game should work now. I hope this helps I've had the problem for a while and it was driving me nuts. I'd also like to thank the user "fragger" for giving me the idea to look at Kaspersky. hi guys,

really need some help on this one cause i cant seem to get how something that sounds so simple is so hard to do.

i got a client with a workstation that has a local user account on it.
they also have a domain which he has another account on there.

so i have local account joe1 and domain account joe2. now i need to get joe 1 to combind and merge outlook and my docs with joe2. and then get joe2 to stay on the server so that it remains a account that can be accesses on any computer on the domain network. with this in mind the user profile needs to be saved on the server and the profile can be copied to the computer that his sitting at when he loggs on.

anyway i can figure out how to move the local (joe1) account to the server (joe2)i have tried a command moveuser but i keep getting a parameter error on there (error 87) .

i typed it like this

moveuser joe1 (company doamin)\joe2 /c:\\(client machine)

please can anyone help me one this

User 1 logs in and works does whatever... Doesn't log out but screensaver goes back to user screen.

User 2 logs in (switching users - not logging out user 1) and gets to work.

Sometime later (ie. not right away) and not at a prescribed time, the network stops working.

I try to disable / enable the network adapter and the machine freezes.   Reboot fixes problem.

If user 1 or user 2 is the only one logged in then never a problem.

Anyone heard of this?
Thanks for any help!

Answer:Multiple Windows 7 Users-Switch between Users-network stops working

When switching users, it's always a good idea to have User 1 close out any applications and documents they have open and then log out before User 2 logs in. It sounds like you have fast user switching enabled, but I'm not aware of that causing any network issues -- unless User 1 was doing something that required a network connect.

Check the Event Viewer for error logs from the time it froze when you tried to disable and enable the network adapter. Post the event ID and description here if you need help diagnosing the issue from the log files. Perhaps another fix is to disable fast user switching, so that users are always forced to log out before someone else can log in.

Hey guys
Every time I boot up my computer I encountered an error message saying that C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Local\Temp\dwm.exe cannot run or load.
I also couldn't access the internet
I activated a guest account and on this account I could access the internet, I have downloaded HighJackThis

I thought this problem was similar to the one experienced by Carva at http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/728105-rundll-error-loading-c-users.html
Yet I couldn't work out which files to fix
Here is my HJT log

working with vista homeprem sp2 32bit here. ran a quick avast scan a few minutes ago, it caught some small-time junk in the temporary internet files (which were purged easily enough), but it also pointed out C:\users\all users as "the system cannot find the path specified". so I open up windows explorer and try to go there. cue the "refers to a location that is unavailable" error message. now, I don't usually need to prod around in there so I'm not familiar with what normally happens, but I know vista loves to have a bunch of directories displayed that are shortcuts it uses for people who leave "hide protected OS files" checked (I don't, I want to see what's where) which really ought to not be shown when you're not hiding stuff but I digress, that's for MS to be groused at after win8 flops.

SO. should I panic that I've had another thing sneak past the security screens (mvp hosts file, spyware blaster, avast's shields, mbam scans)? nothing else seems out of sorts, but one man's paranoia is another man's preparation, and all.

Answer:C:\Users\All Users refers to a location that is unavailable *error message*

This is normal. All users folder points to c:\programdata folder. These are called symbolic links.

Hi everyone,

I am the web masters of a local snowmobile club and our new website is having a few problems with printing. Please take a look at the site, http://www.strathroysnoblizzards.com/Strathroy_Sno-Blizzards/index.html

As you can see it has a black background which when printed on my Mac OS X has no problems with printing (it leaves out black background and keeps the text and images) and prints everything.

The problem is that one of our members are ticked that they can not print the site because of the black showing up above the text and images and I really don't want to change the background because it look good the way it is, so is there any way to change to printer settings or some ideas for him to help him out with this problem.

Second problem is that out of 4 pages, 2 are blank with nothing on it and there is suppose to be text and images on those pages, anyway how to fix this too?

Thanks Guys

Answer:Website printing??? (backgrounds causing problems with PC users but not Mac users)

I only have one suggestion. Do they have this unchecked?
Print background colors and images.

IE->Tools->Internet Options->Advance Tab-> scroll down
to the Printing headline. Make sure it is unchecked.

I don't remember when, but I availed myself of the free Windows 10 upgrade sometime back. I was using 8.1 and I had, at some point, moved C:\Users and all its associated folders to E:. Everything has worked fine and Win10 didn't have a problem. I did notice that there was still a C:\Users, but the only folder it contains is Administrator.

This was probably not a good move to make. Moving data folders, like Pictures, Documents, etc., is fine, but moving the actual User Profiles was not such a good idea. My E: drive is no longer large enough to hold all my photos and other data. I bought a replacement drive large enough, but having my Users Profiles on E: is now a problem and I want to move them back to C:, only without the data folders.

I can delete all the existing data files from those default folders (I have backed them all up), so now I need to find a way to restore the Users folder and contents to C:. I've tried researching the problem, but found nothing that specifically applies to my situation. The TenForums article, "Relocating Users folder on an existing Windows installation" Seems to be as close as I can get. Unfortunately, this part has made me take pause and ask you all for help:

Do you know what I should do? Maybe Kari's still around and can reply? Any guidance would be appreciated.

If you used the Sysprep method to relocate the Users folder to E: drive, you can use the same method to relocate it back to C: drive. The warning you quoted is when doing this in a clean install, it does not apply when moving Users folder back to C: drive which will always be accepted and OK for Windows.

Follow these simple steps (looks more complicated than it in reality is!):

Create a new, temporary local user account, name it as you wish like "Dummy" or such (tutorial)Change Dummy's account type to administrator (tutorial)Sign out from all other user accounts, sign in to DummyDisable all other user accounts except Dummy, the one you are currently signed in (tutorial). No worries, accounts and their data will remain intact, deactivating (disabling) them temporarily is done because sometimes Sysprep causes existing user accounts to lose Start and Search / Cortana functionality. When we are ready we will again activate (enable) all old user accountsWhen done, open an elevated Notepad (right click and select Run as Administrator) copy the following code and paste it to a new text document]:

How can I setup 2 networks so that my wireless users can't access wired users?

All of my computers are wired... but, I would like to give my retired neighbor (he's 64 years old) wireless access. But, I don't want him or anyone else access to my shared files b/w desktop/laptop. So, should I put it on a different subnet? Do I need a 2nd router? Right now, I have the BEFSR41 with a WAP11 AP on 192.168.1.245 with the router on 192.168.1.1 (both are 255.255.255.0 subnet).

Thanks!

Answer:How can I setup 2 networks so that my wireless users can't access wired users?

I would setup a DMZ, you can do this by using two physical routers or something like smooth wall with multiple nics. If I were you I would setup smooth wall on a crap old box and install 3 network cards into the old computer. Hooking your cable modem to one of the network cards in the smoothwall box will be like pluggin in your cable modem to the wan port on the back of your router. I would plug your wireless router into to the next nic on your smooth wall box. If your neighbor is the only one using the wireless do the following. Enable WEP, don't broadcast your ssid, filter by mac address, and limit the total number of connections to 1. That should keep your wireless rather secure. With the final network card in the smooth wall box attach either a standard switch or even another router. Smooth wall has built in DHCP support and it will allow you to set a range of ips.Hard wire all your home computer to the switch and your in business.

Hi All,
I've recently setup a clean install of Win10 onto a new system.
Prior to this I backed up my 'Users' folder from the old setup (also Win10) onto my d:\ drive, on a second HDD.
Now that the system is up and running, I've noticed that the backup 'Users' folder is being 'seen' by Win10 as a system folder, resulting in my inability to rename it etc.
Searching for a newly created document that is located in 'My documents' on c:\drive results in it being called up as existing in:
c:\users\neil\documents (where it actually lives)
d:\users\neil\my documents
d:\documents and settings\neil\documents

How best can I disassociate the d:\drive backup 'Users' folder from my system folders ?
Thanks for the assistance.
Cheers, Neil

Answer:I lost my limited user account folder icon in Users folder.

You mean you hide it? If that what happened, just change the folder view setting to show up the hidden folders.

If that isn't what happened, then elaborate the situation much more.

I have one user on my network who complains that his icons get all messed up on his desktop each time he logs in. I went over to check it and sure enough, he powers his pc on and logs in, he doesn't have any of his icons on the desktop. He logs off and back
in again, his desktop icons are back.
Now, for some background;
Server: Windows 2003 SBS
Workstations: Windows 7 Pro
We run folder redirection on the My Documents and the Desktop

Checking the eventlog shows that when he logs in, it is creating a new profile so the folder redirection is delayed until he logs in again. When I check the local drive C:\Users, I see that his username is not there but a directory called TEMP is. Permissions
are good. When I log into his machine with a test account, the test account TESTUSER folder is created under C:\Users

What gives here?

Answer:when user logs in for first time c:\users\temp directory is created for his profile

Hi,
A temporary profile is issued each time that an error condition prevents the user's profile from loading. Temporary profiles are deleted at the end of each session, and changes made by the user to desktop settings and files are lost when the user logs off.
A user profile consists of the following elements:
1.A registry hive. The registry hive is the file NTuser.dat. The hive is loaded by the system at user logon, and it is mapped to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry key. The user's registry hive maintains the user's registry-based preferences and configuration.
2.A set of profile folders stored in the file system. User-profile files are stored in the Profiles directory, on a folder per-user basis. The user-profile folder is a container for applications and other system components to populate with sub-folders, and
per-user data such as documents and configuration files. Windows Explorer uses the user-profile folders extensively for such items as the user's Desktop, Start Menu and My Documents folder.
We can perform the following method to resolve such issue:
1. Restart your PC to release the locks on your profile.
2. Log on with another administrative account
3. Delete C:\Users\%username%
4. Delete C:\Users\TEMP
5. Delete the registry key matching your SID from
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList". Check the value "ProfileImagePath" to make sure you pick your own profile.

What is the best way to share execution priviledges between limited users, power users, and administrators?

Say an application has already been installed by a higher priviledged user type, and a limited user cannot execute it - e.g. an ISP login software, or Spy Sweeper. Note: ISP login software lacks profile, so I suppose I could just create that, however, Spy Sweeper is a head scratcher.

Should the application be uninstalled and reinstall under All Users? How do you install an application to allow All Users to use it?

I have already tried to use the "Run As" right-click Properties w/Shift key approach and that does not work.

Is there an approach with regard to local security policy that would do what I want to do? How is that done? Or, is Access Control List the way to go?

But even so I will want to record everything that way when 2 shows conflict during primetime
I will have it to watch when Jerry Springer or Judge Judy is on.
I will also have everything I have recorded off of Cable and I will be Legal

Streaming might be the solution for some people but it comes with a cost.
Either you are paying for services that add up to a higher cost than your cable or dish packages.
You are forced to resort to illegal torrents or sites.
or you end up paying higher costs for internet because it takes a ton of bandwidth to stream HD 1080p to the living room, kids room, parents .. whatever all at the same time ..
That free Gigabit Google ain't no where to be seen... so you will be buying 100-200Mbit plans so you can keep your TV, Phone, Alarm / Video Surveillance online at the same time and still surf the web and update your android apps on your cell...

I used this app a while ago to watch and record IPTV on Windows Media Center. But I think they can do it with other sources too. The latest version can record TV server side so you don't need a Windows Media Center anymore. And now I use Plex server for all of my Video stuff instead of Windows Media Center.

Hi, There seems to have been a problem with a Microsoft Antispyware update, so those of you who have BOTH Norton software, and use Microsoft Antispyware program, had better wait till the next update which will hopefully resolve this:

We are seeing several other posts with this issue, right now, so I am sure it is not a mistake.

Hi all! I've found a found two windows xp based APPS that'll optimize your performance "Right Mark CPU Utility" is the 1st one and your just set the profiles to the optimal performance... another tip that you could use to optimize your turion 64 is to uninstall the turion 64 update with evidently keeps your processor running at a specified temp with does limit your performance. Another application that you could use to optimize your ati 200m or anyother mobile based graphics card is Power Strip.. Hope's this helps everybody out!

Does anyone know what explorer is showing OneDrive instead of Chad in this case? You can see the first pic that shows OneDrive, but then when you select the folder in the explorer path, it shows the true path is D:\Users\Chad.
Is this a registry setting?

Thanks in advance!

HELP!!!

I turned my computer on after work and found that it seemed like everything had been deleted, as in I had no installed programmes anymore and my documents, pictures and videos libraries were empty. Also that I had no record of my email anymore.. So I had a look and found this new user folder (Dan.Dan-PC) which was created in my users folder.

My old user (Dan) is still there which has all my old information and library structure there but it is not being showed anymore. It is some virus which is loading these new libraries on startup!! Please help me!!!

I did a scan with AVG and got this:

Answer:Virus making new user folder in users folder!?

You might try the procedure's listed in the guide. This system seems to be pretty far gone. Interesting virus, a swing and a miss for AVG.
How to easily clean an infected computer (Malware Removal Guide)

Having an extra drive with a recent system image + system restore procedure using DVD is the best method for fixing these problems.

Of course these days you need to keep that extra drive unplugged if you really want to keep it safe.

You might want to try the security section of the forum for more help.

I get the above error when I reboot my computer. Whenever I reboot, a screen comes up that says:

"Could not load or run 'C:\Users\Palmer\AppData\Local\Temp\csrss.exe' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry."

How do I find and remove the reference to it in my registry?

Answer:Error message when I reboot for C:\Users\Palmer\AppData\Local\Temp\csrss.exe

Welcome texankjo.

Could you explain when this error message pops up? Are you actually able to boot and get to your desktop?

If you can, I suggest you follow the instructions from Posting Instructions for Malware Removal Help and post in the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help Forum forum (as I suspect this is a malware issue).

Whenever I reboot, a screen comes up that says:

Could not load or run 'C:\Users\Ella\AppData\Local\Temp\csrss.exe' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

Recently, I did several things this might be related to, but I am not sure it is is related or not:

1. I downloaded Internet Explorer 9; hated it; and called microsoft tech support to get rid of it and went back to Internet Explorer 8. IE 8 is now working fine.

2. Attempted to download the latest version of VLC Media Player 1.1.9. It took several tries before I got a download to install correctly. At first, I was sent by IE 9/Bing (I suspect Bing highjacked the browser, and took me to outside sites). I think during these attempts I was DLing from SourceForge. When these setup files didn't work, I eventually found the correct site to DL from (videolan.org) That DL worked find, VLC works great, and I simply deleted the other (failed) setup files I had DLed.

3. Did a System Restore back to April 5, 2011 to try to get rid of the error message.

4. Downloaded Periform CCleaner and ran that to try to get rid of any registry errors.

5. Spent approx. 2 hours on the phone with a Microsoft represent in the General Assistance Department. He did the "take control of my computer" thing, and did all sorts of things I didn't really follow. At the end of it, he said it was probably leftover from a virus that my Avira g... Read more

Please help. My husband's laptop seems to have a very bad virus. At first he was not able to get IE to run -- things went downhill from there. I had AVG installed and it was doing regular scans, but nothing alerted. I rolled back to the oldest restore point then installed AVAST and deinstalled AVG. AVAST indicated it found something and recommended a boot scan, which I did. That's when I got the error that File C:\USERS\USER1\APPDATA\LOCAL\TEMP\ELS.DLL is infected by WIN32:SIREFEF-AI [DRP] -- I selected to move to chest. Also received similar error saying C:\WINDOWS\ASSEMBLY\TMP\U\[email protected]|[embedded_r#00290] is infected by WIN32:MALWARE-GEN - also moved to chest. I have also run MalwareBytes which found nothing. I am at a loss as to how to proceed and greatly appreciate your assistance! Below is the text file DDS log.

1. Are you running Vivaldi as your main browser?

3. Vivaldi Installed or Portable/Standalone?
4. Your experience with Vivaldi, add-ons compatibility, features you miss, etc...

3. Portable/Standalone
4. Overall experience good. I only use Google Translate & IDM extension. IDM video download bar doesn't appear on videos. I miss inbuilt translator, flash, etc... Sometimes I notice page load takes little time.

And I would like "Open link in new tab" work as Chrome or an option to set that way. "Open link in background tab" is the 3rd option & as a Chrome user I have the habit of clicking 1st option so gets annoying.

After forgetting the local administrator password, I followed that guide for offline editing the SAM registry file. This clearly caused a problem, because no I see no users in LUAG as per the attached. All the accounts work fine, except the built-in administrator account which I can't do anything with (if I try to enable it using the 'net user' command, net crashes).

I suspect I may just have to live with this, but does anyone have any suggestions about how to 'clean' the administrator account in the registry so that LUAG works again?

Thanks

Answer:No users visible in Local Users and Groups

Check your Windows version!

If you have the Windows 10 Home edition, then it will not have Local Users and Groups (lusrmgr.msc) included in it. It's only available in the Pro and Enterprise editions instead.

What command(s) you use to activate the Administrator?

As Administrator, I?ve created my own folders for my documents. These are located in the D: partition of my hard drive; and they are shown in the Library section of the contents of the computer, on the left.
Now, when opening the computer from the Guest Account, my own folders do not appear in the Library, all right. But just below the Library there appears the rest of the computer content, including the D: partition, and any Guest can access all the folders and files there, including my documents.
How can I hide the folders of each User from any other Guests, not only in the Library but also in their actual location in the hard drives?
Thanks for any help.
ACA

Answer:Hiding Users' files from Guest Users

OK this appears to be a simple permissions issue.

go to your root folder on the D: drive and right click the folder and select properties.

on the security tab you should see a list of those who have access to the folder - Make sure that your user has full rights and remove all rights to the "everyone" user group. This when OK'd should xascade down to all files and folders contained in the folder

If you wish you can adjust the rights available to any other particular user on the system - Make sure that you do not remove or change any rights given to system or administrative users unless you fully understand the result

Question: All Users folder

Under local disk>Users>All Users, its says unspecified (47) and I am the only user on this pc. Why are these listings here? Is it right or do I need to delete. Screenshot

Answer:All Users folder

Hi Ronny,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

I'm not sure what the folders with the long numbers belong to. Since the All Users folder is a hidden system folder, you should be careful what you delete in it. You might run Disc Cleanup. If they are junk files, they should be included in Disc Cleanup to be removed. This would be a safer alternative.

Disk Cleanup

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I don't need an all users section being the only user. It is very tedious when you have to browse through the all users path to get to your own folder. Can I get rid of "all users" ?

Answer:All Users folder in XP

Why do you have to go through it? Surely your own section is separate from All Users. Also this folder will contain information relevant to your account.Further to that software will add entries there to so delete it and it'll probably come back.

Question: Users Folder

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, i hope it goes here
Well, thing is I'm that sort of user who likes his OS to be as clean, clear and minimalistic as possible.
Thus I like my comp to have only one download location, only 1 temp folder, etc.

Regarding users folder I don't know how windows works with these folders, because in every Windows OS I can recall, there have been always multiple folders, even if you set your computer to work with only one user that is you, the absolute and total administrator. Then you can see a default user, a "yourusername" folder, a public folder, an all user folder. Also when installing software sometimes they put their shortcuts into default, sometimes into all and sometimes just in yourusername user folder. Is it safe to delete all folders but the "yourusername" folder? if not, which are the folders you have to keep? Is there a way to make these folders to converge into one?

A thing i hate is installing software and not knowing where did it put archives into my computer. I usually check the program files folder, but have seen many times left over folders, some empty some not. Then again the users folder is a mystery to me as if it will keep files from a never used again software forever or not.

There is also a Program Data hidden folder.

Can anyone help me with this questions please?

I'm just setting up a Windows 7 PC on our network, and I went to add an icon to the 'all users' folder and its not there! With multiple users on a single PC, how do I add shortcuts and universal startup programs without this?

Answer:Where has 'all users' folder gone?

It's under C:\users\All users

But this only works if the install program "says for this user only" or fr "all users"

It wouldn't work anyway, because there are no registry entries on the other users account

Does the Users folder have to be relocated to an empty drive on an existing win 10 installation, or is any local drive ok?

Answer:Relocating Users Folder

If you are referring to the method told in this tutorial, the drive or partition used should not contain any Windows system files and folders from any previous install. Other than that it doesn't have to be empty although it is recommended.

While I was searching for something, my C:/users folder disappeared.

So my desktop lost all its folders and some icons and shortcuts. And of course I had no 'Documents' folder, etc.

I then discovered that I had no System Restore points (I've created some now)...

I finally managed to work out that somehow 'show hidden filles and folders' had been un-ticked.

So I ticked that option, and now all the missing items are back - but they're all 'pale' and all the icons within those folders are 'pale' as well.

What does this mean? I can open the files and folders ok.

TIA

rob
