Preferred Solution: Non responsive programs

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Non responsive programs

You need to supply more info: brand and exact model of computer and Version of Windows you are running.

Hey everyone.

So my PC began acting up and I have a feeling it started when I was looking for video editing software and came across a video editor called "softonicdownloader_for_Windows-live-movie-maker.exe" I'm sure it's a virus or something because problems with my PC began shortly after getting this.
I deleted and uninstalled what I could, went into safe mode and ran the latest updated version of malware bytes. It got 5 infected files that were deleted.

After doing so, I had little success. Here are still the issues with the PC

#1 Desktop and start menu programs won't respond. Can be clicked and the arrow with hourglass will show up, but with no response. Sometimes clicking on them will freeze and lock up. Sometimes they will, but it is only after several manual shut downs. If it does respond (such as clicking on internet explorer), upon closing out the program it will not respond again without a manual shut down.

#2 Boot up is a lot slower, will stay on "Loading your personal setting... Read more

I have a computer with a 1000 MHz Pentium 3 processor, with 384 Mbs of RAM and a 3DFX Voodoo3 3000 video card. I run certain programs and at some point windows gives me an error message telling me that it is "non-responsive". Any suggestions?

Answer:Non-responsive programs

Hiya

Lets see what you have running, as you may have some background things running causing this problem.

Lets take a look at a log. go to http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Regards

Hi guys.

So, you're all going to tell me all that I've done wrong, but I would love to walk away from all of this with newfound knowledge of how to treat my computer.

Currently I'm on someone else's laptop staring at my laptop which has a frozen Google Chrome, a "not responding" Windows 7, and it takes forever to reboot.

I just killed the power and turned it on safe mode and it's working, but when I change it to the normal version it freezes up.

It's been acting like this for days with spurts of everything being fine and times where it's crapzilla.

Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC
AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.50
8GB RAM 500GB HD
Avast!

Answer:Windows 7 not responsive nor any programs run

Does it freeze up only when Chrome is being used ? If so, you should disable Chrome plug-ins / extensions to see if it makes any difference.

Hiya All

Recently my PC has been freezing whilst on net, this morning it loaded up as normal and I clicked the launch button for net and nothing happened, it just froze and became unresponsive so I had to power off and reboot.
Tried it again, did same. On reloading no errors came up about windows. This time I ran C/Cleaner to clear crap down and relaunched net. Seemed okay for 20 mins then all froze again, full reboot, again. Ran Malwarebytes and full Bullguard Virus scan, nothing.

Windows XP SP3
Browsers used - Google Chrome & Mozilla Firefox
All updates are up to date.

I dont know much about computers, so ill try my best to be as detailed as possible.
I have a Windows XP home edition with intel celeron m.
Yesterday, my computer refused to shut down. all it showed me was "saving your settings" for about 3 hours.
I finally had to shut it down from the power button.
Today, I tried opening up Itunes, and it wouldnt open.
I tried going to the "Add or Remove Programs" and I got a blank list.
I tried going to "my computer" but it took soo long for it to search for my items.
Finally, I tried opening up my antivirus system, (Avast) it sort of just froze mid-startup.
Whenever I try to restart/shutdown my computer all I get is my blank desktop, no icons, task bar, just my background.

Welcome to BCI'm pretty sure you're infectedSome types of malware will disable Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it first.Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file file and rename it to mysetup.exe.Double-click on mysetup.exe to start the installation. If that did not work, then try renaming and changing the file extension. click this link if you do not see the file extensionRight-click on the mbam-setup.exe file, rename it to mysetup and change the .exe extension to .scr, .com, .pif, or .bat.Then double-click on mysetup.scr (or whatever extension you renamed it) to begin installation. If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files.Right-click on mbam.exe, rename it to myscan.exe.Double-click on myscan.exe to launch the program. If that did not work, then try renaming and change the .exe extension in the same way as noted above.Double-click on myscan.scr (or whatever extension you renamed it) to launch the program. If using Windows Vista, refer to How to Change a File Extension in Windows Vista.Be sure to update MBAM through the program's interface (preferable method) or manually download the definition updates and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Then perform a Quick Scan in normal mode and check all items found for removal. Don't forgot to reboot afterwards. This started about a month ago and i have had no luck trying to figure out how or why it does this. What happens is that a program will hang (ie; Trillian WMP, Maxthon, any program im running) so i try to do the alt, ctrl, del and try to end the task there. It does the whole "end now" dialog but it does not close the program no matter how many times i repeat the process. Now the problem is that if i try to Shutdown/restart it will close everything but that program and explorer. Thus i have to reboot the only other way possible by pressing and holding the power button and doing a hard reboot, which i despise doing because of lost data i have incurred. PLEASE HELP!!!

Problem just started today. I had a non-responsive Control Panel, and IE is also non-responsive. I disabled DWMSM, and that brought back most of the control panel's functionality.

However, the Uninstall Programs option is not working. IE will also not launch.

Hi, I built my gaming rig last christmas, and it has served me pretty well except for one annoying problem. And frankly, it's starting to get very old.

Basically, when I start some programs, my computer seems non-responsive when I click the icon. This happens on games too. For example, I'll double-click Toca Race Driver 3 on my desktop, and hear cpu activity for a bit. Then, nothing will happen for several minutes. I'll just be sitting on my desktop.

It's as if I never launched the program in the first place. Out of frustration, I'll click the icon again, to have the same situation duplicated. Next, I CTRL+ATL+DEL, only to see "racedriver.exe" on my apps :x . Finally, 10 minutes later, the program will actually execute and I'll see the game running. In fact, I make a habit to leave my room for a bit when I launch games such as Race Driver 3, BF2142, and CS Source, because of the time I spend waiting for them to really launch onto my screen.

This happens in more than just games. My rig acts like it's down-right bogged when running other programs. I find myself closing internet explorer windows all of the time due to them not responding. I had to configure my microphone yesterday, only to find the wizard crash on me two or three times.

I really don't know where to start if this is a hardware issue. My old Pentium4 HP wouldn't do anything as odd as this, ever. I ran two instances of memtest overnight, and it returned no errors. I'm using... Read more

My PC has started to run very slowly. It takes a long time to boot up and programs often become non-responsive (eventually they continue) for long periods. Ad-Aware, Spybot and AVG pick up nothing. Panda online scan found and disinfected a file calling it a generic trojan (although this file had been on my PC for a considerable time without causing problems) - log attached. I did remove a trojan called Trojan.Dropper.Agent:BJL about a week ago (i think this was picked up by AVG Anti Spyware).

The past week or so I've had problems with my laptop. I noticied everything that requires any amount of memory is running slower. I can open most programs, but wait a long time for them to load. Sometimes they crash before loading is complete. I ran Avast in the boot scan mode, which found enough to worry me. I deleted the ones it found, but I bet there's more.  I then ran Mbam and Spybot, which were fine. But my pc is still acting up. I can't even open pictures without having to walk away while stuff loads. Same for trying to open up the task manager, gimp, firefox, etc... It's all hit and miss, sometimes it'll work like everything is normal, sometimes it doesn't do anything at all but lock up. FBAR scan below....Suggestions on what to try next?

I've been having this problem for a while and it came out of the blue...

I load Windows 7 (64 bit) and after an hour or so programs accessing the internet stop responding (AppHangB1) such as Chrome, Windows live mail etc. I then have to restart my pc. I tried leaving my pc (desktop) for a few hours without a connection (via ethernet) and not a single hang/problem. I also tried leaving the internet connected with a browser or program running and it was fine.

I noticed last night that after it happened again (was watching a film on PC) the small monitor item in the task tray had a red mark through it, thus suggesting I wasn't connected to the internet . However, once I restart the PC everything is fine.

I ran Malwarebyte's anti-malware program and quarantined a few things but hasn't resolved problem.

I'm running the free versions of Zonealarm firewall and Avast anti virus. I suspect it might be one of these as I've had problems in the past with Avast.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated as I couldn't find anything on the internet about this problem.

Answer:Hanging/non responsive programs when connected to the internet?

It's not Avast as I use it on many machines.

See if one of the Nirsoft what crashed type programs give any indication. There's several of them, like Bluescreenview and some others mentioned on the page for that. Also MyEventViewer is good as it lets you look at several event logs in one place and filter out the info and other unneeded logs. All are stand alone programs that don't need installing. I use lots of them.

I'm running Windows 7 (Release version, that's all I know I'm afraid) and the last couple days whenever I've tried to load a file through any program, that program goes unresponsive and ultimately has to be closed. To better explain the problem, here's an image of what's going on:

As soon as the load file window opens, the program freezes, and as soon as it's clicked the "-Programname- has stopped working" window opens up. I'd very much prefer not to have to reinstall 7 if avoidable, but this is an issue I really can't just deal with, so I'm hoping there's a fix that doesn't require reinstalling. Thanks in advance!

Answer:[SOLVED] [Windows 7] Programs Go Non-Responsive on Load-File

Hi

is this a problem with just this particular program or all programs? If it's just this one, have you checked to see if the program is compatible with W7? It may also be worth trying to run it in XP SP3 mode with admin rights?

Are you bang up to date with all windows updates?

So yesterday I downloaded a program on accident that obviously came with malware.
It came with multiple programs and even changed my browser's search engine etc.
I used Malwarebytes and Windows Defender and I feel like I deleted most of the malware but I feel there is still something on my computer because whenever I'm using a program it would sometimes randomly "refresh" meaning the screen would flicker and the icon on the bottom would flicker as well, but nothing happens to the actual window.

What I mean by unresponsive when windows pop up is for example when I try to save a Microsoft word file, by either press ctrl+S / File > Save, no window pops up but I lose control of the program like as if the save window actually popped up (you can't type in the document while the save window is up). If I press escape the window briefly appears then disappears and I regain control again. Why is the window hidden?

Also whenever I run Avast or Windows Defender they become unresponsive when it gets to around 80% of the scan.
I feel like something is attacking these programs to try to prevent them from cleaning out whatever is left.

I'm reading about "rootkits" and I feel like I might have one of those. Thanks to whoever can help me, it would be greatly appreciated and I am glad to provide anymore information you need.

Greetings & Salutations... "Your PC needs to be repaired" File: \Boot\BCD  Error code: 0x0000034  I do not have a bootable Windows 7 Ultimate disk.  http://speccy.piriform.com/results/tqePx3pjwwrajUd5tgQgWoi  Five years ago I hired the IT who worked for the company next door to format & load a new SATA II HD in my desktop. Partly because I didn't really want to hassle with it, but more than anything I wanted an advanced opinion on my 1st build from scratch He liked the build, said I chose the components well and I had. For what it is, it screamed. When he handed me my XP Pro disk back he told me he had installed Windows 7 Ultimate & I would like it much more and it'd never go bad... I had concerns immediately & no system disk. When the MS pop ups began I bought a Lenovo laptop & ran it till it cried. I went back to my machine and have endured the MS msgs & decomposition of Windows 7 I have no choice.  The severe issues began 2-3 moths ago when Google's Gmail went haywire and knocked me and hundreds of others around the Country out of commission. Google was no help whatsoever. They suggested going to the Dashboard for updates that never came & advised reinstalling Chrome. I never was contacted & told what it was. Took a Restore Point just to run right, the browser is still not quite right I don't believe, in spite of 2 additional re-installs. I've been cleaning up virus' for the past week and my system is still slow, Windows XP Home.

About 6 months ago, I had to do a system recovery and we lost all the other accounts on this PC except 1 admin account. My son's account also had admin privleges & was "lost". He had partitioned the hard drive and installed Ubuntu - which we are now unable to access.

Is there a way to access this OP & his windows files to delete to free up space?

I will post a Hjack log, thanks for your help!

Less than a week ago I bought a Inspiron 15 3000.  So far it's been nothing but disappointment.  To start, the Cortana program would only completely kill any attempt at loading programs.  I've since disabled, however, Google Chrome, which I use for work, constantly stops responding.  I've tried to download apps from app store and get error messages.  I will go to close out of programs and the time from click to window close can be up to 30 seconds.
Anyone else experience such lag?  I'm pretty disappointed considering it has no real programs up and running yet as it's a week old.  Trying to decide what to do.

which one would be better for fps gaming (more specifically cs:s)

since they give you the option of changing the responsiveness, i'm guessing this doesn't matter? or does it?

i have a A4 tech mouse that's more very sensitive, while a logitech optical mouse (i think nubius has it, he recommended it to me when i asked for a mouse) that's less sensitive

which would be better (or it doesn't matter?)

Question: XP Non Responsive

Ok my brothers PC is having some issues. It will load into XP and all the desktop icons will pop up but you just cant click on anything. I am not sure if it is supported by the forum but I used the latest Hiren's Boot CD 9.9 to boot into mini xp ran spybot search and destroy and kapersky - came back with nothing. Also tried other programs but no others seem to work. Anyone know anything about this and the PC problem? Thanks

Answer:XP Non Responsive

Try booting into Safe Mode. If that works, you can try running MalwareBytes and SpyBot Search & Destroy from there.

If it doesn't, try booting from the XP CD and performing a Repair.

Question: XP non responsive

Hi

Earlier today I installed Outpost Free Internet Security, it crashed my network connection so I uninstalled it, then had to perform system restore. Then I opened MS Outlook and PC turned itself off immediately and restarted. Message came up that Windows had recovered from a serious error.
Came on tonight no programs would open, i have put Xp disk in to try and fix and it seems okay(ish).
Other anomaly is that i keep getting message " this computer has undergone significant hardware changes since Xp installed and XP needs reactivation within 3 days. I have had to do this on average once a month including today.
I rang Microsoft to activate over the phone and spoke to a real, very helpful person who also found it strange that it keeps asking to reactivate.

Anyway I have attached the logs from event log, dont know where else to look for errors. Please if you can help i would appreciate it as I am pulling my hair out.

Di

Quote:

What is Okay(ish) really mean? does the computer work properly, and do all of your programs work? You do not have to include all of the logs. Just instances with a red X the yellow warnings don't mean that much, and the logs are too long to read through.
You can do some maintenance. Go to Start/Run and type chkdksk C: /R and press enter. Then press a Y for Yes and then restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup to fix any file errors. You can also go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and press enter. Put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing files from the CD. If you don't have a current Anti-Virus Software, download the free Microsoft Security Essentials (do not have more then one AV software program on your computer at a time) and do a full scan. Also go to Start/Run and type dfrg.msc and press enter, highlight the C: drive and press Defrag Now.

I am trying to restore the computer to original factory settings AKA "AS FURNISHED" because of a crashed hard drive. The F11 key does not let me get to system recovery and the computer goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor - Windows 7 Operating System. I have a boot disk which lets me get to recovery however, system restore does not work as there is only one restore point so I am screwed. I do not have an image to restore to either. Any suggestions?

Windows GDI update for 2k3. My IIS 6.0 server just started getting flaky on me. Only one website - all ISAPI shutdown - only .asp extensions allowed. URLScan 2.5 installed.

No notice in the logs - just an unresponsive IIS 6.0 server. Doesn't appear crashed, and no insane processes - i.e. no hogs. However, it just goes down - and I have to restart IIS 6.0 to get it running again.

Nothing has changed- except for a patch from microsoft a few days ago that was a "GDI update". Anyone else seeing IIS 6.0 flakyness in the last 2 days?

I thought it might be a DOS or something - but wouldn't a syn attack shut down all my interfaces? Or just the interface in question? What kind of logs would I look for to see some kind of attack? I have Scan Alert which scans my server and reports 0 vulnerabilities. So - at least I have taken care of some of the obvious attacks.

anyone have thoughts for debugging or unravelling this issue?

Thanks

Question: IE Not Responsive

I hope I am posting in the right place. My Windows 7 pc has been acting up for quite a while. I am not sure if it's an ISP issue or just my pc. When I am running IE or Firefox or Chrome, my websites become non-responsive. Or I will click on a link and nothing happens. It is very "jumpy" meaning pages seem to lock and then switch to new pages after some time has passed. I get the message box pop-up saying that IE is uisng so much RAM and it is usually over 250 MB. I am not sure if it's a hardware issue or internet issue. I did a speedtest and came back over 4 mbps. My issues seem to get worse by the evening. I don't have many issues when using software...just internet websites.

Running a Compaq Windows 7

First, turn off the caps lock key, unless it is broken too. That is considered rude.To get any meaningful help you need to give some information about the system, how old it is, when the problem started, other problems with it, what happened unusual right before it.So info on the computer including the make and model number and the power supply, including maker and wattage (it's on the side of the power supply inside the case).See below. Question: Non-responsive HDD

(I'm sending this from wife's laptop so TSG Sysinfo not much use!)
System: 'Advent' tower PC, Intel Core i7 3440 3.4Ghz Quad Core CPU; 12Gb RAM (DDR3); 2Tb HDD (Seagate)(SATA), using Windows 7.

Sequence of events:
1 Attempted to reboot PC following a minor update but PSU did not power up - it wasn't a particularly quite unit so silence pointed to a PSU fault. On removing the cover, the CPU cooling fan was not operating either, confirming no power.

2 The OEM PSU (CWT GPA450P) was not easily replaceable. Having had to replace PSUs in earlier PCs, I opted for a Corsair CX500M. At this point, I committed the cardinal sin of not practising what I used to preach before I retired - having replaced PSUs before, I did not think I needed to RTFM! Having removed the faulty PSU, I unpacked the replacement and fitted the black box in position before noticing that there were some significant differences between the OEM PSU's 'open' cable loom and the Corsair's sleeved loom. One of these difference was that instead of the 'old fashion' direct cable links to the SATA devices, there was a variety of alternative modular connectors. Had I read the Manual, of course, I would have seen that these plug into the PSU via black sockets on the face of the black CPU box but at this point, they were now hidden in the dark depths between the PSU and the back end of the DVD drive housing. Instead, I looked around for a connector that fitted a 4-pin ... Read more

Answer:Non-responsive HDD

Hello, unfortunately there is a very good chance that the HDD was damaged by the psu incident. The easy way to determine that would be to remove the hdd and then hold it while the pc is turned on. You should be able to hear and feel the platters spinning. After that, just to make sure, you can use a sata to usb adapter and plug it in to a different computer and see if it detects it.

Hi! I have been having an issue with my touchscreen... it doesn't respond at all. My laptop is the HP Pavillion Notebook 15 in touchsmart (N5P48UA#ABA). It is running on (freshly updated) Windows 10, and is only 5 months old. The Issue: Several days ago my touch screen stopped responding - at first it was intermittent on-and-off. As of recent it has not been functioning period. Everything else works fine on the laptop, and there are no damages or cracks in the screen. Steps I have taken to resolved the issue (all have failed):I cleaned off the screen with a screen-wipe I restarted my laptopI restored the laptop to factory settingsI received chat support and then remote support from HP (didn't do anything)I spent over an hour on the phone with HP support (wasted time)And of course, I have done plenty of research on the internet. Conclusions that may aid a solution. After spending a ton of time trying to fix this, I know what the problem is not. In Device Manager there are only two drivers listed under Human Interface Devices (HID- compliant wireless radio controls & HP Wireless Button Drive). Its almost like the touch screen driver... doesn't even exist. As a side note, while the touchscreen was working, There were several more drivers listed under the HID section... its almost like they dissapeared. On the HP site, there are drivers that you can download, but the HID drivers that I need are not listedThe touch HID drivers are not ... Recently had problems with computer flashing multiple windows of emails or advertisements.  Thought the was computer infected so I just reformated the HD and reloaded XP Pro and SP2.  After what appeared to be a successful load, I went to load the two programs, which also appeared to load successfully.  When I went to load the new printer drivers, the computer became non responsive.   It appeared to lock up.  When I went to see if one of the new programs would boot up, I double clicked on the desk top, and mouse pointer/hour-glass would constantly flash at different points on the screen.  So I went to the Start menu and went to 'all programs'.  When I attempted to leave the 'all programs' to select the program I wanted, it would send me back to the dest top, and I couldn't get either of the programs to start.   I tried a different video card but the problem is the same.  I can't get any of the programs to respond.    Appreciate any advice.

Is it a real XP CD that says Microsoft all over it?A good format and reinstall should solve all problems for a while IF the hardware is functioning correctly. Did you format the drive during the installation?

My computer is Non-Responive more then it is working.  If my memory is correct, I went into the Bios et. al. and set all to maximum performance years ago, as I am a firm believer of keeping the computer COOL!.  I am **bleep** retentive in using cans of compressed CO2 to blow out the computer.  In reading I find that if the Cooling fan is part of the problem that I should get a warning that the fan has failed to perform to spec's.  But my interpretations of this gives me the impression that this is tied to the Intel processor, and not looking at the AMD Radeon GPU 6770M.  As a side note I have also been uninstalling programs at the same time. At first I thought I had a failing CPU, and or a clogged Heat Sink.  In looking into the replacement of a CPU Fan, which I mentioned earlier I should have gotten a warning from the Bios that the fan was failing, I found it was the same cost to buy a new fan as it was to buy a Heat Sink with a new fan.  Once I realized what the Heat Sink looked like, I got to thinking the GPU may be the actual problem of the computer becoming unresponsive, which is why I started wondering if I should replace both the Heat Sink and the AMD GPU. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice other then to throw the computer away.  I would rather to spend some monies and at the same time upgrade the computer to higher spec's CPU and GPU and get another year or two out of the computer as this computer ... Hi,
I have a system that when you log-off of a user to get back into the start screen to log in as another user, the keyboard is non-responsive but the mouse works. You have to restart to get the keyboard working again.
I am logging out of a limited rights account into an administrator account
or visa versa.

XP Pro with all updates
no name clone
AMD Athlon 1.16
2GB RAM

Does anyone have any thoughts as to how to fix this bug.

TIA

Nick

Answer:non responsive keyboard after log-out

Almost sounds like the drivers for the keyboard are not on the other user's account. Be sure that it isn't some software that was set to -only- the administrative account. I've never encountered it doing that myself, as I only use one account, but that's my best guess. Anyone else have a suggestion?

My pc has lately as expected gone very slow and not as responsive.
At the start-up especially. I have to wait a good 2mins before touching anything or things start to 'Not respond' and such.

I was wondering if you guys could recommend me ANYTHING that I could do to speed up my pc significantly.
Exclude, formatting my pc / buying new parts.

Thanks for your time.

Answer:Slow/Not responsive

First verify you're defragging your drive regularly. Vista is normally set to do this automatically so I doubt fragmentation has anything to do with it, but you should check to make sure.

Second, run antivirus. Sometimes a virus can slow a PC down. Again, I doubt this has anything to do with a slow PC, but it might.

Third, check your startup programs. If your PC is running slow at startup in particular, one real possibility is that you have a bloated number of programs and services starting up. Go through the list in msconfig and see if there's anything you can disable. Also use the Services console for the same thing.

Post PC specs. You might be low on resources.

(History) three weeks ago my old mobo became non responsive i did all test to test mobo (removed RAM no beeps, touch cpu not hot to the touch).
So I decided to replace everything except hard drive. I purchased: MSI 785gm-E51 MOBO, AMD athlon ll X3 440 Triple Core cpu, geforce 9500gt gpu, coolmax 140mm 600watt psu, hyper n520 cpu cooler, OCZ ddr3 RAM. I put it all together worked great for 10min +/- had all drivers installed for hardware was running benchmark test on Gpu. Then screen went black no signal from mobo. No error beeps from mobo when RAM is removed, psu fan runs, cpu fan runs and gpu fan runs. Same problem i had with first mobo. And my question is could there be something on my hard drive causing my mobo failures?

Last night I was showing a young child my FSX, and all the things that you could do with it. Somehow he started playing with the keyboard and the next time I opened up FSX the joystick movements were not responding in the aircraft. I checked it out by using FS 2004, and no problem, it worked fine, so the connection wasn't the problem. I think it must have been due to the kid playing on the keyboard which made the jostick unresponsive when using FSX. Can you help please.

Answer:FSX - non responsive joystick

this happens to me alot using my flight stick and xbox360 controller. when you start up fsx keep your flight stick unplug till you get passed the loading screen. pause your fsx plug in the flight stick and wait for a minute for the computer to load it in now go to your controller and see if it is active you might have to select it rather then the mouse for controlles. also add if you have fsuipc. cause it could be the problem as well always good idea to add it when asking for assistance. because it has speacail key and joystick assignments as well

Hello guys.

My first post on here.

I have a real problem with my laptop. It started playing up a few weeks ago, and would freeze after clicking to open a picture.. The egg timer would come up but it wouldnt open the picture.. After tapping the touchpad a few times, the message would appear "not responding" I then would have to clixk the red x and it would then bring up another box saying do you wish to end this not responding program..I click end now and it would then shut down internet explorer.. Doing this and starting again seemed to work, but it started to get more frequent.

Ive now got problems trying to sell things on ebay. The program freezes on the add picture page on every attempt.

Ive used my symntec antivirus and that says things are all ok.. Ive bought this registry cure thingy and that hasnt helped either.. Its now doing my head in.. Any ideas?

Ive tried scandisk, defrag.. but still to no avail, and the computer is defo slower than it used to be..

Im not the most intelligent pc lad.. so be gentle...

PLEASE HELP>>

my power strip that i have my computer, printer, etc hooked up to is located under my desk, where your feet are. the other day i accidentally hit the plug for the power supply to the computer and the comp turned off, so i restarted it.

my printer doesn't work any more after the comp came back on, everything else was fine (the printer is a HP officejet 4110). and by doesn't work, i mean that there is nothing showing on the printer's screen, and the little green light that is normally green now flashes green for a few seconds and then starts flashing orange/red very very quickly. when you turn off the printer, the computer says "found new hardware". so i put the installation disc in my cd drive and tried to reinstall the software, and it says the software couldn't be installed because it can't find the right software. i then make sure it's searching my D drive (cd drive) where i put the printer's software installation cd into, and it still says it can't find it.

what should i do? i am running win xp service pack 2 BTW

That brought up several major areas or topics with the option to select one by cuing on a "button" for that one.
However, that accomplishes nothing, regardless of whether I click with the left or right mouse button. There are no url's, (?) to copy or select, nor could I find anything else to select or cue to open the sub category.
Not sure what is going on! Why set things up so one can select a topic if selecting does nothing.

Answer:keyboard is not very responsive

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

There is no setting that I am aware of in Windows or the system BIOS to adjust the keyboard sensitivity on your model.  Is it certain keys or is the whole keyboard like this ?  Was it always like this or is the problem getting worse ?  If the keyboard was always like this even when the laptop was new, it could just be the way this keyboard responds to key presses.

I'm a tech at a huge dealership. Some, not all, of our pcs have an issue with IE running really slow and some times not responsive at all. The thing is, all other programs wether it be firefox or some kind of messanger are not affected at all. I originally thought maybe it was some kind of connection issue, but after having both AT&T and the communications company that originally setup our connection come out and verify there is nothing wrong, I'm stuck searching for answers. I know it's not the "temp" or "offline" files as we delete and refresh the pc's all the time.

I'm really at a dead end here and I'm praying some of you guys and girls can help a brother out!

If you have any ideas and need to contact me asap, please feel free to pm me for my cell phone.

Thanks in advance,

This normally takes a couple of days for it to start occurring but after that when I lock the system when I log back in explorer.exe is non responsive. Once it becomes unresponsive once though every time I lock the system and come back it is unresponsive again.

None of the apps running at the same time seem to be in common. I think the only app I have not eliminated yet was Chrome.

I ran memtest overnight and it didnt have any errors. I also ran MBR Check Super Anti Spyware and TDSSKiller and they came up clean.

I disabled all non ms apps using shellexec and action center is clear. I also verified and made sure all drivers are current.

The event viewer doesn't show anything of value. Just that it become unresponsive.

I am pretty much stumped at this point. This is a brand new system too.

Any advice would be great.

Okay, I've Googled this and tried a couple of websites looking for an answer, but so far no luck. At times, for no appartent cause, everything in my taskbar will suddenly become completely non-responsive. I can click away all I want on "Start", on quick launch items, on minimized programs, on icons in the system tray ... nothing, nada, zilch. When I go into the control panel and click on "Taskbar & Start Menu", the same ... no response. It just sits there in sullen indifference (that last bit is peotic licence). The only cure is a reboot.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks!!

Hi i've encountered an issue which I can't solve by myself.

My PC has been incredibly stable up until today - booting suddenly takes forever, explorer takes ages while loading icons on my desktop, trying to use right mouse button or open folders results in complete hang of the system. If i wait long enough until all desktop icons are loaded, i can even open browser and some folders but eventually explorer or PC hangs anyway, not to mention that everything is working sluggish.

I can open the task manager and check resource usage, also AIDA actually load successfully and according to them - there is no increase in CPU or RAM loads.

I've tried running Eset online scanner and I've checked my system disk with Avast! - they didn't find anything. I've used hijackthis but found no suspicious entries. I've also used combofix but it found only some harmless .dlls none of which were unknown to me.

I am able to load Vista in safemode without non essential programs but the issue exists even there, despite slightly faster booting and icon loading times.

Unfortunately I cannot use system restore and even though I do have complete pc archive - so far I wasn't able to use it, since it's not available in safemode and during normal boot my PC usually hangs before I am able to get to control panel.

At this point I've exhausted all known options and solutions and would welcome any help or suggestions whatsoever. Could it be sudden hardware issue? If so - what could be respons... Read more

This may be a double post, but I can't find my original posting.  My x230 is approximately 30 days past warranty (Windows 7 Pro).  Overnight it has become non-responsive. I have tried with and without battery, two different power supplies. I have tried, multiple times, holding the power button down to "discharge"?  No lights showing, no response to any buttons being pushed.  Within the last week I accepted Lenovo's prompting to update various files, including BIOS.  My recollection it has been re-booted at least once since the Lenovo system updates.  For what it is worth, I have always had the touchpad "turned off" via the software.  Any help, thoughts, or insight would be appreciated.

I have a computer running XP SP2 + all updates to date, for a few months now when you go to press the start button the system can take upto 30-60 seconds to respond, once it does your right for another few minutes then stop's responding for another 30-60 seconds and keeps repeating this cycle. I have checked all running processors and there doesn't seem to be anything there that should be.

My initial thinking is that it's trying to check something which holds the system up regular???? Anyone else have this or seen this problem???

Now don't get me wrong here. I like Emsisoft and how it operates. But lately I've been playing my usual games from Steam and from some of my online games like Mortal Online and Elsword, when Emsisoft suddenly steps in saying they're giving off suspicious behaviour.
This has gotten my interest piqued as to why Emsisoft would react to my games like this, especially my Steam games. I recently got Planetside 2 and during play Emsisoft came up with 2-3 reactions.
Is this to be expected of Emsisoft? or would this be a cause for concern?

Answer:Emsisoft being a tad too responsive?

Hi IllusionEclipse,If these games are official Steam games then I'd tend to say that these are false-positives. Any change you can upload the flagged file(s) to http://www.virustotal.com and post a link to the scan results here? I can then have a closer look at this.

I think I pretty much know the answer to this question however I'm in a slight dilemma.

I have an HP laptop here with the trackpad not responding at all. I dug all of the viruses out of it and reinstalled the drivers several times, as well as a system restore from 10 days ago. But the trackpad still didn't work. I considered re-imaging it since it has a recovery partition with a factory-loaded default image, but instead I decided to pop in a Linux LiveCD.

Upon booting Ubuntu, the trackpad still didn't work.

I checked all Fn keys. Nothing helped activate it. There's also a dedicated on/off button by the trackpad. It of course is enabled.

I think it's pretty safe to say it's hardware related, but my tools are at work and this is bugging the **** out of me. Is there anything else you guys think I should try before I crack this thing open tomorrow?

Answer:Trackpad Not Responsive.

There is a cable that connects that trackpad to the MB, while you do have to take a lot of the laptop apart to get to this cable it isan't as hard to get to as the processor. I agree, it does sound hardware related (assuming you've hooked up an external mouse and it worked) and if the plug is fine, you may need to replace the track pad.

My Pavilion laptop has a button right above the trackpad that turns it off - stupid i know but just make sure that light is on if your laptop has that button.

You need to install the drivers for them.
To do this go on Compaq (hp's) website and go to the driver download section and enter the model of computer in and there should be a section on usb ports and there will the drivers that you need.

OK where do I start

Yesterday (sept [email protected] around 8pm) evening I was prompted to update Mozilla, to the newer 3.5.3. I did just that, after the update it required a restart, did that, I clicked on Mozilla icon to continue my browsing, Mozilla would not load. So now I go and click on the Norton icon to run a scan and see if everything is ok. Norton will not respond either, just the hour glass shows up and then disappears. I go and click on IE and see if that will run for me, it does, and it is slow real slow, I have not used IE for at least 2 years, I figured it was the version I am running.

I decide to restore the laptop back 2 days to get my old browsers versions back, no dice, that was all for last night.

Today I restore the laptop back to AUG 18 and it told me nothing had changed, I was left scratching my head, I installed at least 15 updates the past 3 days, so something should have changed. I tried Norton again, no dice it wont even allow me to get support. I decided after chatting with a fellow fisherman to un install mozilla, and download and run Malwarebytes Anti- Malware.
Thanks!!

For the past week or so, I have had problems with a computer, and browsers and webpages becoming slow or giving error messages. Trying Microsoft Fix-It the whole system froze. Tried to do an XP repair with nil results, so did a full format. All seemed well until I tried to do updates,Avast Ok, connection to internet Ok, then on reboot, goes as far as the XP motif and then shutdown, with repeating events.
Trying now to boot with the original XP disk, so as to try a repair or reformat, and the computer will not boot from disk. Previously the computer use to ask 'Boot from disk-None' and went into start mode. Now no message.
I hope that I have explained okay. Any help would be appreciated, so as to get the computer working again..

OK, I booted up my computer and then left it for several hours, working on it from my laptop with remote desktop. When I came back to it(never left the house) it was off. I said to myself, thats weird and tried to boot it up and nothing happens except when I flip the switch back and forth on the ps, I get a brief light to flicker next the power button. The lights are all on on the mobo, it just won't boot. I can't get any fans to turn on, no sounds at all.

What do you think my problem is???

Answer:Computer non responsive

Sounds like the power supply might be shot. Incidently flicking it on an off can cause surges which may cause more damage.

My computer keep getting into a non-responsive stage. By this I mean when I have a window open and try to go to another or close the current one I get no response. I can hit Alt-Ctl-Del and it says the program is running. I try and Minimize and that will not work either. After a couple of minutes everything seems to clear up

Sometimes my XP machine (P4 2.6ghz, 512ram) gets in these weird cycles where some of the buttons on applications wont respond to me clicking on them, and sometimes, it switches the left click for right clicking. This seems to happen more often when I leave the computer on for a while.

Any ideas for fixes ?
I guess I should also mention that this seems to happen regardless of what type of mouse/keyboard im using, and whether its ps2 or usb connection.

i was repeatedly getting kicked out(nonresponsive programme error) of Microsoft IE so i switched to Mozilla FF, however i can't access some sites from Mozilla(security reasons(?)) so need to go back to M/soft. Is there a way i can access these sites from Mozilla or can you help me fix my M/soft IE?

Answer:non responsive programme

Like which sites cant you get into that you would in microsoft? There should be no difference if u import ur settings from internet explorer to mozilla. I would check ur Internet Options.............. start...settings...control panel...internet options...in there is security and all the stuff u need to adjust.

I have An ECS K7S5A Pro mother board with a keyboard that won't respond. This is one of the stangest issues I have have ever come across dealing with keyboards. When the computer boots it will boot into Windows XP and the keyboard will not respond but the mouse responds and device manager shows no keyboard listed and no conflicts. Then when you reboot the computer and try to access the bios the the key board still won't respond and the computer boots into Windows as before. No "no keyboard" errors are posted on boot up. I have tried all of the standard trouble shooting techniques (trying different keyboards switching cables etc...). Is the anybody that has come across a systoms like this? I am reluctant to condem this MB because I don't know for sure whats wrong Thanks Scott

Answer:Non responsive Key board

Is the keyboard standard PS/2 or the USB kind ( too lazy to check on the specs of the board).
But let's assume that the keyboard is the PS/2 kind. If you tried the usual "song and swap" and still no response, then it's the board chip that is messing up. I would give it a last shot, but looking on the mobo and trying to clear up the CMOS if you haven't tried it yet.

Hey guys, what's up? So whether it's Windows 7 or Windows 10, my PC will just lock up for about 5-7 minutes, then be perfectly normal again. The apps hang, but I can move my mouse. I've formatted and reinstalled a couple times, but sooner or later it starts happening again. Also, this happens whether Windows is installed on SSD or SATA......sounds like hardware or drivers.Event viewer is showing a Service Control Manager:The Microsoft Passport Container service terminated with the following error: General access denied error-------------andstorahciReset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued.I've been dealing with this for about a year now.I've attached my DxDiagAny advice would be appreciated.

QuoteHey guys, what's up? So whether it's Windows 7 or Windows 10, my PC will just lock up for about 5-7 minutes,That detail could imply a hardware problem.Do you have a spare PSU?What kind of test tools do  you have?Do you have another PC that is very reliable?Do you have a method for backup of your important personal files? If not, make backup plan. Diagnostics can be intrusive and ruin data. So take care to put you important personal stuff somewhere else. Here are the general rules for DIY testing.? Reduce the power load on the system. Go to just one or two sticks of RAM .? Remove the graphics card and only use the build-in graphics.? Unplug your DVD drive.? Use a OS that does not require a hard drive. See how long it runs .? Use f Memtest86 from a USB.  Do long test.? Use some tool to get temperatures from on board sensors .? Try  a hard drive test from USB. Run the intensive tests. I have on system that has become very slow and non-responsive. The hard drive light shows constant activity, but the Task Manager CPU usage is running low. I've updated my AVG and ran a scan with Spybot.

I've been running a RootRepeal scan but it's over an hour and no results yet.

I bought a MS Wireless Optical Mouse some time ago. The installation was not a problem, however I have a very strange problem in that for no apparent reason sometimes the mouse will have no or very delayed responsiveness to clicks and scrolls.

This is very annoying and when I use the spirit of the irritation built up to press the button harder this will most often on 3rd or 4th occasion get the mouse in action. After a while it the non responsiveness stops (10 minutes to one hour) and the mouse will work fine again. It is not normally a problem on start up.

I have changed batteries, reset the mouse "receiver", installed more RAM (now have 512 MB) and nothing has helped.

Can anyone out there please help me as this is very frustrating.

Finally, if I use the keyboard (when possible) there is no delay, only when using the mouse (so if I cannot scroll with the mouse there is no problem using the arrows up and done for example)...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Will be much appreciated.

Brgds
Bobby

Answer:On and off non responsive mouse

FWIW, I just had a similar issue with my Logitech cordless optical mouse. I finally took it apart and it has several really huge dust bunnies blocking the scrolling wheel. Cleaned it out, and all is well.

Answer:Edge Hub is not responsive

Does Edge totally freeze up then too(happened to me when viewing Downloads). The only thing that eventually helped was clearing everything(nuking the cache). I suppose it was a corruption.
