Verifying files by check sum / content after transferring unreliable - how to check?

Question: Verifying files by check sum / content after transferring unreliable - how to check?

Is verifying files by check sum / content after transferring (copying, moving) indeed unreliable?

Since "ever" I - if I checked files at all - checked files by content or check sum after transferring them, so this information sounds very astonishing to me now, I hadn't had any clue about what I read here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2012/09/19/10350645.aspx

Obviously meaning in many cases checking files by content / check sum checks the data in the buffer, if I see it right.

So, is it like that? Does it refer to all of the synchronizing / backup / copying, check sum, etc. programs?

And what is the best / easiest way to (automatically) check files after transferring. E.g. when copying all of the files of a 4TB drive to another one.

Preferred Solution: Verifying files by check sum / content after transferring unreliable - how to check?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Kletus...

I'm not in my league with this, but could this make sense?

I think the article is referring to times when you are seeking to verify data across a network span between two systems (operating systems), where system b (copy destination) requests a checksum from system a (file original location). I believe the author is saying that in that particular situation checksums would be created from the cache/buffer on both computers. In the case of you copying to a secondary disk connected to a single computer I think the checksum should work fine. Sounds like one of those programmer's dilemmas to me.

Sorry if I am off on this. I know you are looking for some programming expertise. I'll just say that reading this, it made sense to me about the author's comments:

This really sounds like you're overthinking it.

First, what possible reason would there be for giving someone write access but not read access to a certain location? That's screwed up on so many different levels...

Second, you're right that having the sender compute a checksum of the destination file is a bad idea for all the reasons mentioned. But why did you even think of doing that in the first place?!? If I was implementing a system like that, I'd have the *destination* system compute the checksum on the file it received and send it back to the sender for verification.Click to expand...

Does seem to me logical to have system b create the checksum for verification from its "copy" of the file/data when it comes to a network transfer...

Hope I'm not way off about this.

Hi,
I am about to do a full restore on my laptop here, but for some reason I can't transfer some of my files to the USB flash drive that I bought. Some files transfer, but then I'll get an error that says "cyclic redundancy check" and all file transfers stop.. Also, the files that the transfer gets stuck on are also unable to be opened by me.. These files were just fine a few days ago, they are picture files and I've been able to open them with no problem before.. Anyone have any idea why I am getting this error and how I can get around this and be able to transfer everything to my flash drive? Thanks.

Just a friendly reminder to check to see if there's any digital content at www.microsoftstore.com that you don't know you have.
I was snooping around on the website and noticed that when I tap my name in the top right corner, one of the options on the menu is "Digital content." I clicked into it and found info about my Office 365 subscription. And a few pre-paid 12-month subscriptions for Xbox Music (now Groove). So I just randomly found 36 months of Groove! Probably something i'd purchased a few years ago during a sale.
Feels like I found a $300 bill in my old jeans!

We have a 2013 Microsoft Office Word Enabled Document that we want to e-mail to clients to complete (it is a questionnaire) with Check Box Content Control to allow clients to put ticks in relevant boxes.

However if the clients use Microsoft Office 2003 the document will open but removed the Check Box Content Control.

So we are wanting to create a document that will work in any version of Office and allow the Check Box Content Control/User to click on a box and a tick appear, they save the document then e-mail it back to us.

It is not essential it is in Word.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Answer:Word 2013 Doc with Check Box Content Control

For Office 2003, you will have to create the document using a forms field, as checkbox content control won't work in 2003.

I posted this in the Network and Sharing section two days ago. Senior member 'Pauly' suggested that I post this here for further help. I am copying the contents of that thread below for your perusal and help. I disabled all the plugins and extensions in Firefox but cklads is still showing in the Command Window.

The website clkads.com started opening in my computer, a few months ago, when I clicked on a link in some other web page. It used to burst out in a new window and not as a pop up. I think I was being redirected. I blocked it using the local host 127.0.0.1, in the 'hosts' file. The blocking is completely successful. Whenever cklads tried to open, it opened as a blank window, with a message 'this web page cannot be found'. Now, even the blank page is not appearing. It seems to be perfect block.

Thank you.

My Question

My Operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium with Microsoft Security Essentials installed.

While connected to the internet I did a random 'netstat -f' check using the command window. Please see the attachment. What worries me is the foreign address, clkads.com, against the local address 127.0.0.1 As far as I remember, clkads is a web site that plant cookies, malware, redirect and collect information from the browser. Sometime ago I blocked this web site using 127.0.0.1 in the 'hosts'' file and the blocking has been fully effective since then.

What is the reason this is appearing against 127.0.0.1, in 'netstat' check? Please advice.

The problem start with my wife's PC. It started a few weeks ago she told me. She can't open Outlook Express (doesn't start), access My Space or get updates at Windows Update. Also some images on sites do not load.

I then checked my PC and found, I couldn't access Windows Update, My Space, Thunderbird fails to retrieve emails. I have not noticed any issues with images.

Given this sounded like some of the behaviors I have heard of trojans doing I thought I would post my logs here and see if anyone sees anything out of place. Normally I wouldn't consider a cross contamination but about two weeks I temporarily set up a home network between our PCs to share a few files. The next day I disabled NetBIOS on my PC but as we are both behind a hardware firewall, I guessing if it happened it must have happened then.

Nothing jumps out at me but I wanted to get a second opinion.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, i have hp pavilion g6 laptop and its upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 then windows 10.  From last few days i was getting "Memory_Management", "Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error" and so many other errors with blue screen. Due to this i have to power off the system from main power button by holding for few seconds. Now i was getting hang problem. I saw in task manager that DISK UTILIZATION was 100%. I did a hardware test where i got below results : HARD DRIVE SHORT DST Check : WARNING HARD DRIVE Optimized DST Check  : FAILEDFAILURE ID: 9U3UWX-6KT85B-MFPWWJ-61Q003 Can anybody tell me how to resolve this or i need to replace the hard drive. -ThanksPankaj

Answer:Hard Drive Short DST Check : WARNING and Optimized DST Check...

Yes you need to replace the hard drive. Since you have upgraded to Windows 10 it is very easy to get recovery media directly from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. For most people, the problem is not physically swapping out the hard drive, but restoring the operating system since they do not have recovery disks. Post back if you want a service manual and/or video showing the replacement, purchase options for a new hard drive and step-by-step for restoring Windows 10. We would need the full model...g6-????

My daughter called me and asked what was wrong with her monitor. She said that when she starts her computer she gets this message "Self check, check your PC and signal cable, monitor is working" and no other display...

kds x-flat monitor, onboard video, XP, AMD

She has unplugged and replugged the video cable several times... any ideas why this is?

Answer:Self check, check your PC and signal cable, monitor is working

That suggests that the computer is not booting, or if it is, there is no video output.

The monitor is simply saying "I am OK, but the computer isn't sending me anything"

A simple check to see if the computer is booting is to try the CAPS Lock key. Pressing it will toggle the CAP light on and off each press, if the PC is running.

Hi all

I have been trying to create an Excel macro that deletes only the check mark inside the check box albeit with no success. Is there a way to do this?? I have plenty of check boxes and it is taking me a lot of time to go into each one and delete only the check marks. It would be would be pretty neat to create a macro to delete the check marks in every single check box. If someone out there has figured out how to do it, it would be a great help.

What is the best check -in check-out asset management software? A list of what's out there would be appreciated because I cant seem to find an authoritative one of what's best for asset management (game development). I hear Alien brain is good and there's one that starts with a 'p' that I can't remember the name of it to save my life... Alien brain is too expensive and hard to find. It's an open source project so I know the 'p' one would work because they offer open source licenses so if anyone knows what Im talking about feel free to enlighten me.

Something similar to Project but with asset management and check in/check out functionality would be great if anyone could suggest something. A step beyond that would be real time preview of maya scenes, psds, and xsi files. But maybe I want too much with the latter...

edit: Oh and it doesn't have to be free, Im just curious as to what's out there...

I started having problems with my computer in late November when my daily virus scan was somehow disabled. I was using my work computer more often at the time so I did not notice this until January. Using the task manager, I was able to shut down a rouge program and was able to update and get my virus software to run again. It found several problems but could not isolate or remove most of them. Around that same time I also started to get alot of pop-ups and my browser was contantly being re-directed. I played this same trick of shutting down all unnecessary processes through the task manager and then running the anti-virus software and several things were then isolated. This didn't stop all of my problems though.

I noticed that SurfSideKicker was something that was continually detected and found your website through a search for advice on how to remove it. I followed the instructions contained in your post and have not seen it mentioned again.

Because I knew this was not my only infection, I then followed the procedures on the READ & RUN ME FIRST post on the malware removal forum page. I did this over the course of about a week. The online scans said there were still infections but I need help knowing where to go from here. I have attached the log files for review.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Start by emptying your Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine folder.

Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'. On the page that opens, scroll down to Local Security Authority Subsystem Service(or if not found look for lsass) ... then right click the entry, select 'Properties' and press 'Stop Service'. When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the 'Start-up Type' to 'Disabled'. Press 'OK' until you get back to Windows.

Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the "None of the above, just start the program" button at the bottom of the choices. At the lower right, click on the 'Config" button, and then the Misc tools' button ... select 'Delete an NT Service" ... copy/paste the following into the box that opens, and press "OK":

Getting into Safe Mode

My Mesh pc is infected with Spy Sheriff/Smitfraud. I have studied the excellent guidelines on this forum, but I have the problem that the 'F8 key method' does not get me into Safe Mode, so I cannot run the various anti-spyware tools in Safe Mode.
I initially thought that Mesh must have over-ridden the system; I have emailed them three times to ask, but they have yet to reply!
Now I am wondering if the spyware itself is preventing me getting in to Safe Mode.
I would appreciate advice. Is there another way of getting in to Safe Mode?
Many thanks.

Greeting,

I have been applying some of the advice from the techguy.org threads and got to the point in those thread where the advisor suggests providing a log and txt file. I hope I didn't get ahead of myself buy trying these fixes before talking to one of you.

I have been following the advice in the threads I found after searching under, "Worm.Win32.NetSky".

I ran SDFix and then HiJackThis! in this order. Here are my text and log files...
_________________________________________________________________________
3/2/2008, 2:44 EST

Additional Details: I had the following issues prior to running SDFix:

1) I had 3 icon on the desktop that were for some type of antivirus/spyware/privacy software.
2) I had a red screen for one of the dual screens, that disabled all the icons and had a link in the middle that said something about privacy danger
3) Norton detected a downloader, but didn't give much detail
4) I had a white "X" in a red circle blinking in the tool tray
5) I still have intermittent access to the task manager - I loose admin privileges
6) I would see two windows suggesting a virus had been detected and I should go to the recommended site and download the software (this is the message that had the Worm.Win32.NetSky in it.

I still seem to have the issue with the task manager, but all the other signs are gone.

Hi I've had nothing but trouble for 6 months on my laptops and PC. Including on my pc (new last sept) when I upgraded from vista to 7 a VPN adapter in network and security centre. And Mcafee not being able to configure. Mcafee connected to my machine remotley for 3 weeks every day and could not get it to work, eventually i was escalated to top tier and they ran combofix and told this picked up a rootkit, which he deleted but he told me my machine was corrupt and would need reinstalling (that's another story) however my laptop was having exactly the ssame issues and neither machine should be connected to any network or each other they are purely machines for home use. This laptop which this topic is about had a new hard disc this week but I'm concerned it's starting to go again. Windows defender is showin me a program in its historywhich starts [email protected] S-1-5-21 ........ which it says has potentially unwanted behaviour however when i go to permitted rograms there are none listed. The reason this worries me was that the root kit had a similar id S-1-5-21.... (if not the same) the root kit was showing as a user ID.I have run Hijack this log and found similar S-1-5-21 entries . I don't know if this is an issue? Please find below a copy of the log. I also had an error message from hijack this saying it could not read the host file, to cure in vista right click and run as admin, when i right clicked I did not have this option.. I was in as admin and clicked ok f... Read more

Answer:Please check my log files

Hi, I'm posting this because I think I'm likely to lose connectivity soon. After the post this morning, several things have hapened.Windows told me twice that AVG needed updating but when I checked I was up to date, i went direct to the site and updated from there and it was out of date and automatic protection had been removed.Windows defender was off again , I had to restart it. I had a dialogue box from defender pop up telling me an unknwon program had inserted code I clicked on the dialogue for more info but it dissapeared and windows defender had no history of it.I ran AVG antivirus and had a mass of locked files, it could not check and as i write this my hard disc is going 19 to the dozen and I only have this open!!Find below the list of files that were reported as locked by avg. I'm trying to help my parents clean their machine (XP Pro, Version 2002, SP 2). I would really appreciate feedback on the log files after the scans. The machine is still running rather sluggishly - programs load slowly.

One note, after running the AVG anti-spy, many tracking cookies were found and I clicked "Apply All Actions". When I click on the REPORT tab, I got a message that said, "No reports available". Not sure why...I had it set to generate a report after every scan. So I ran the scan again. The 2nd time, it found nothing, and (of course) generated a report for the 2nd scan. I've attached it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Can someone check these files and see if there is anything major
The reason is because earlier today, my PC failed to start up for some reason, even though the shut down was normal.

I'm also having a problem with a game, should i post the stuff here or in a new thread under PC Gaming Support?

Thanks

Answer:Minidump files check.

NOTE: Please provide the following information for a more detailed response: http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html

While waiting for a reply:

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks

After posting all that info we'll have a better idea of what's wrong. If necessary we can transfer this topic to the Games forum - or we can ask one of the Games experts to have a look at it over here.

The memory dumps are old - the most recent being over a month old. I'll run them, but don't hold much hope for them to contain a solution for you. But who knows, we may get lucky!

And, I think that we've gotten lucky....

I need to verify files copied from a win box to a bsd box. I know how to use comm for filename lists, but in this case I need to compare file sizes too, to make sure no files got partway copied. (Used ftp to copy, so a partial would leave the incomplete file & not get overwritten on the next copy.)

Should I try to make a text list with filename and size, & comm that? Not sure how well that would work... Is there a better way?

tia

(Cross-posted to programming.)

Answer:Cross-check files, win & bsd?

The best way to verify that the file is identical on both ends is with MD5 or PGP file checksums.

It will be painfully obvious if the checksums don't match.

Hi Chris

Internet Explorer Toolbar 4.8 by SweetPacks <<< Uninstall this.

Re run Hitman Pro and have it remove all under the headings of Malware Remnants and Potential Unwanted Programs.

Delete this:
C:\Program Files\GUM9B6C.tmp

Give Ccleaner a run (not the reg scanner) just the cleaner itself to be rid of a chunk of temp files.
Re run Hitman just a scan and attach log.
Same for RogueKiller.
Attach the JRT log too.
Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.
Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running!

Hi,
I?d greatly appreciate some help examining my scan files (I didn?t get a report from AVG, but the ComboFix and MGtools zip files are attached). The zip files are pasword protected as requested by chaslang.

My SpyBot S&D scan came up clean and AVG Anti-Spyware only found a tracking cookie, but here?s some background info on my PC that could be useful:

1) About 2 weeks ago I got a pop-up message saying D E P had stopped a program from running in a protected area. The program listed in the pop-up was Windows Explorer (!).

2) My PC hung during AVG AntiVirus UN-install (MG instructions said to only have 1 AntiVirus package and I also have CA eTrust AV) and I had to eventually ?kill? the uninstall process. Now AVG AntiVirus doesn?t/can?t run anymore but it?s not completely un-installed (still shows in my Start Menu).

3) The last several times I?ve turned off my PC, I get a window saying ?CAV Tray not responding? (even though CA anti-virus normally appears to be up and running fine).

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Answer:Is my PC clean? Please check my files

I just wanted to other helpers know I'm working this thread, and also to let you know I was able to extract the files from the ZIP.

I will look at your logs and let you know what I see.

My laptop is Amilo L1310G

CPU 1.7GHz
Grahics: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series (128MB).

It makes blue screen over and over every about 30 minutes...

If using Windows 7 Or even Windows XP , it keeps making blue screens...

But when i installed Windows 7 Ultimate....

I really want to use this windows on this laptop and enjoy the effects of the Aero effects theme....

But i also couldn't do this one....

When i make the Windows 7 with Aero effects as the active theme, windows then shows a message which contains the following:
- The Aero effect is not compatible with the current graphics driver, please update your driver...
I did downloaded the driver from the Amilo website, which is the only driver available in the site it is shown: Only for Windows XP like this:

A person was working on my computer. Now i suspect that he copied my files, can i verify this?

Answer:how do I check if someone copied files

Probably not. There are two possible ways, but both are disabled by default in Vista.1. Check the last access timestamp in Windows explorer. By default this is disabled.2. Check the security log. By default there is no security logging. Both are disabled for performance reasons. It is too late to turn these things on now.

HashTab Windows Shell ExtensionHere is a good find - simple and practical.click here"HashTab is a Windows shell extension which adds a tab called "File Hashes" to the Windows Explorer file properties. The tab contains the MD5, SHA1 and CRC-32 file hashes. These are common hashes that are used to verify the integrity and authenticity of files. Many download sites list the MD5 hash along with the download link. The HashTab makes it very simple for Windows users to check these hashes on any file on the system without using external tools."

Hello, I am in dire need of help. I am a college student who has a paper to turn in on my computer that is due by Tuesday. I have been following the instructions at the following link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-system-check I have downloaded all of the required programs to a USB drive and I am currently in safe mode. The screen is black with no icons on my desktop and all I have to work with is a Start Menu. Currently I am trapped on step 3, I don't know how to get the programs I downloaded off of the USB drive. I can't reach 'My Computer' and the normal alert I get when I plug in something new to my computer does not show up. I'm going to have to run it from the start menu, but how do I do this? What do I type in exactly? Please help, this virus came at the worst time,I hope this makes sense.

Well, I managed to run everything but I could not update malwarebytes while in safe mode. My wireless internet no longer works so malwarebytes informed me that my version is 47 days out of date. I am hoping it'll be good enough, because this is all I can do it seems.

Answer:Two explorer files running please check my log.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Ma... Read more

Dear all

my pc is infected with System-Check. I've followed advice on here and entered a debugged registry key into it and seemed to get rid of it and made my files re-appear using the 'unhide' application. However my browser is still redirecting to rubbish sites and i can't run the TDSS Killer.exe file ot get rid of the malevolent rootkit as it just won't seem to run although i've d/loaded it ok.

I'm really quite worried and don't know how to remove this nasty virus/piece of malware.

Please help

Many thanks

A buddy of mine had a PC that the RAM died on. It's at my house now and I am in the process of reformatting, replacing RAM, etc. (SDRAM)

Anyways, his other computer decided that it too was going to die on him.

Today he went to boot it up. It gave him the Disk Check screen as if the power was turned off incorrectly. He hit 'ok' and continued the check. He realized then that it said "Deleting files on C:\" and then gave a status bar with the files being deleted.

He immediately powered off. When he booted back up, he skipped the check and tried to boot normally. When he tried to log on Windows gave him and error message and code. Something along the lines of "A problem occurred that is preventing Window's from verifying the license information" Error Code: 0X8007007E

Any idea what in the fuck just happened to his PC?

Answer:Disk Check deleting files?

I'm taking a wild guess that he had some sort of virus on the second PC.

How can I check if my files are intact on my hard drive if the operating system (windows xp) is not working?

Answer:check if files are on hard drive

If the operating system is toast your files are still intact. But the easiest way to check/retrieve them would be to plug the hard drive up to another computer (slaving it) and getting them manually. But I can just about guarantee your files are still there. Nothing short of the hard drive having a physical issue then your files might be corrupt.

My machine having WINDOWS XP SP3 OS has been infected by smart check virus which has changed extension of all the files (like .doc, .xls, .jpg, .pdf) to .crypt. So now the files are all like .doc.crypt.

Next, if I rename this files and remove the extension, the file is not recovered. The file seems to have got encrypted in some way or it has corrupt data inside it.

I am not able to make out which virus has such a behaviour because I have tried anitivirus like NAV, AVG and some other but none of them can detect this problem and help me to recover the files.

Kindly send any information about this problem and how to recover infected files.

Howdy,

I use MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware to scan my computer daily for malware.

I would like to know how I can scan E-mail before I open it for malware and how to scan any pictures or music files that I plan to download with these programs.

I right click on my mouse but I do not see a option to scan. Perhaps I do not have things configured correctly ??

I seem to remember that when I was running IE-7 the option was there but I could be wrong.

I use Windows LiveCare for my virus, spyware and firewall protection.

XP Home, IE-8, SP-3

Thank You for your time.

Dennis

Answer:How To Check E-Mail, Files, Etc; For Malware

What are you using for email? I use an ISP branded webmail that automatically scans when I open an attachment. So it depends on what you are using for email.

Answer:Used Memory in disk is 630 GB but check only 27.2 gb of files exists

It could be that you have alot of shadow copies on your HDD.

Shadow Copy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Try clearing your shadow copy(s);

Right click on your hard drive and click properties. Click Disk Cleanup then click “clean up system files”. Now click on the more options tab then under System Restore and Shadow Copies click “clean up”

EDIT:
Just found this,

Shadow Copies - Delete

I've been using Dropbox for over 2 years now and I've been sharing my Dropbox account with other users. I've got some .PDF files stored in my Dropbox folder and I'm VERY worried that these .PDF files have been modified by another Dropbox user.

This is my question: How can I check if my files in my Dropbox folder on my local HDD have been edited at all?

Answer:Desperate Help Needed: How to check if files have been modified?

You could look at the date modified and compare this to your local backup perhaps?

If they should never have been modified then the creation date and the last modified date should be the same (which will make things easier). You can see this by right click > properties > details

I've been fighting to upgrade from the older 2.2.1 to the new 3.1 because of the hole Windows stability issues I had when I last tried it.

Read that it was now much better so decided to give it a go.

My Desktop lasted approximately 48h and now has a super slow start and then just gets stuck.
My Laptop just gets stuck right from the start.
Both have Windows 7.

Had to remove Malwarebytes from them completely.

What files do I need to gather to find out what causing the issues? I'm guessing I'll also have to go to the Malwarebytes forums?

Is there any built in mechanism in Windows 7 during the fresh installation that all files are copied successfully from DVD to hard drive? or as long as Windows 7 completes the installation no matter how fast/slow it takes, one can assumed that all files are copied successfully?

Mine took about 25 mins, but during the installation lots of long pauses while reading/copying files from my 4X DVR+RW to hard drive as if Windows couldn't find files or constantly waiting from the rewritable 4X DVR+RW), but it eventually competed the installation in 25 mins none the less without giving out any error messages.

Thanks.

you might try
cmd sfc /scannow it checks for any corrupt system files.

So I finally got rid of system check through a long proccess using rkill.exe and malwarebytes and now that its gone and supposedly all the files included in it are gone, i cant open or see any of my files
I cant see any computer files or even any programs i had pinned to my taskbar. The only things that open up are things i have to start up when i boot up the computer. such as Steam, i know all my programs and files are still on my computer because it still says i haev 440 out of 1TB used on my hardrive, also i can play games through Steam that i cant find on my computer.

Does anyone know how i can fix this problem?
The only abnormal thing i can find besides what i stated above is that, on task manager "winrscmde" is running at 800,000k which i can obviously tell is extremely too high.

Solutions?

Dell Win 7 laptop had a HDD failure.

Replaced HDD with new HDD and reloaded from the (2 year old) recovery disks I cut shortly after buying the PC.

Rebooted fine and loaded Office, personal files, etc. and called it a day.
