The account password for MS Office Outlook 2010

Question: The account password for MS Office Outlook 2010

Is there any possibility to get a working access to the account of MS Office Outlook 2010 if you lost the user password? There is a password of the administrator but if change this password, there is a dumping of the password in outlook. Windows Server 2008 OS.

Preferred Solution: The account password for MS Office Outlook 2010

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I had a problem with Outlook emails hanging up in the outbox and then sending as many as 14 copies of the same message. I was unable to fix this Using the "Repair" function of the upgrade installation disk (created from the downloaded file). I removed Office completely and tried to reload; however, my disk got corrupted and Outlook is no longer available. Is there a way to recover Outlook without having to purchase it separately? I am using Office Professional Plus 2010 Home Use Program. The email that came with the original download from Digital River states to go to the "Account Management Console" to reload; however, this is on a hard copy and the original email with the link is no longer available. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Outlook 2010 missing from Office Professional Plus 2010

If you downloaded this from Digital River, then you may be able to download it again, contact them and ask.

If you can download the install file again and it works, burn yourself a CD of the downloaded install file.

Also write the keycode on the CD.

Hi all
Having totally WIPED office 2010 from my system and re-installed again the problem I had with the "Purge" folder not appearing now is SOLVED.

However you still don't get a line through the deleted items -- but they are in Trash folder now.

This is BETTER but still NOT WHAT IS NEEDED -- as another computer with Outlook 2007 doesn't get the "Non purged" items in the inbox which it should do.

IMAP should effectively leave items in the Inbox until purged -- otherwise I might as well go back to POP3 - more fiddly to manage whern you leave stuff on the server but it works.

What I'm resigned to doing now is to use the REST of the office 2010 suite (EXCEL etc) which is really good but stick with Outlook 2007 for email.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:Outlook 2010 Saga with IMAP, Can I use Office 2010 and

I do like the way 2010 deletes the emails without purge, but I have found that rules randomly fail and some mail goes awol for a while when switching between folders (it reappears after a while)

IMO outlook 2003 is still the best (I hated 2007) but I will reserve full judgement until 2010 is out of beta.

I have had a terrible time trying to trace down "not responding" in various programs. About 90% of the time however, it occurs in Outlook 2010 and sometimes in Word 2010. I took down the information from the event viewer after the last time it happened so badly that I had to restart the program because waiting didn't bring it back.
Win 7 Prof, SP1. i7, 930 with 24 gig of 1333 Kingston HyperX ram. Several drives: C SSD Plextor and Office is actually installed on a WD Caviar. Neither drive show errors. Only thing I see is that the Caviar is using Microsoft 2006 driver and I haven't been able to find a newer driver. Happens when SATA is set to AHCI and when it is set to IDE.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.
BTW, I have run scannow and also have gone through my pst files and archived.

Yesterday, my Outlook (2010) stopped retrieving e-mail from the Comcast server.  When I tried to fix it today, it still wouldn't work.  All the settings were correct, but it wouldn't retrieve my e-mail.  I deleted the account and recreated it.  Now, Outlook points to a new .pst file instead of my old Outlook.pst file, named [email protected]  To make matters worse, it doesn't delete the mail off the server.  Before, when I would open Outlook, it would download new message to my Inbox and delete them off the server.  The new messages would stay permanently in my Outlook inbox.  No more.  Now if I manually delete one through my Internet browser, it also deletes it out of my Outlook Inbox.  It’s as though the new account is just a window to the Comcast e-mail server.  I tried changing the Root Folder Path on the Advanced tab of the e-mail account settings to point to the location of my Outlook.pst folder, but that made no difference.  I also tried deleting a recent Microsoft update (KB3054976), but this did not help, either. This is a complete disaster for me, as I can't even send e-mail now, except through the server.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Outlook 2010 e-mail account won't sync to Outlook.pst file

I figured this out.  When I reconfigured my e-mail account in Outlook, I used IMAP settings instead of POP3.  This was not how I did it before.  IMAP works great if one wants to keep all e-mail out on the server and access it from various devices.  That isn't what I do.  I changed the profile to POP3 and the poblem was solved.  Still don't know why it initially failed two nights ago, though.

Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been answered before, I did have a search.

I've just upgraded to Windows 7 and have installed Office 2010 which I also had on Vista, in Vista however my email *****@optusnet.com.au was part of personal folders, but now they are separate, I'd like not to see a separate menu for *****@optusnet.com.au but instead have all my emails under the Personal Folders menu, any ideas?

Hi I am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed,
steps taken
1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb.
2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder.
3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file.
Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails, so what else can I do? Am I doing something wrong in moving the file.
Thanks a lot

As the title suggests...I created a password for the presentation I just completed and misunderstood its function. I thought I was creating a password to protect it from being edited by the people I need to send it to. In turn, I need to disable this password...it makes no sense to send someone a protected document and the password they need to open it. Can anyone here offer advice? I have not been able to identify a means to disable this "open document" password.

Additionally, can anyone help me determine how I can protect the document from being edited by the people I send it to?

Okay, I have had this problem several times and now I want to know what is causing the problem. In outlook you can add certain folder to your favorites so that they appear like short cuts at the top of the navigation window. But from time to time different imap short cuts don't appear and then I have to close and restart to get the short cuts to reappear.

Any ideas as to why?

Answer:Outlook 2010 and IMAP account

Also if you go to the inbox, if that is one in your favorites, and right click it gives you the option to remove from favorites even though it is not displayed. After removing and adding will also show them back at the top. But this is a pain in the back side.

Hi
I have several business email addresses. I have just created a new one, but I can't change the 'email from' address. I set a new contact up for it so I could select it via 'other email address" but the next dropdown box down, the 'send email using' still doesn't contain this new email address.
It has its own folder into which email is delivered, but starting from there still doesn't help fix the problem.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for any help...

I am starting a new thread. Last week I posted a complexsituation with captures attached of a serious issue with Outlook 2010. Before I started work I created a Acronis TIBimage ? and as I worked ? and degradation developed, tweaking Outlook 2010, Ihad to repeatedly resort to that original image to get back to the originalstarting point/.

I have managed to get Outlook 2010 working except for thisone issue. Please look over the captures attached. It deals with Brent?s emailaccount ? listed in duplicate.

In my experiments I keep ending up with two accounts. InControl Panel/Mail/Email tab is listed the working Brent email account. Thataccount is not marked as Default. Because in Mail/Email Brent account is notmarked as default I have issues. That working Brent account that not marked asDefault I can send and receive.

There are two Brent email accounts. Two exact accounts -with a slight variable. I have in Mail/Emailthis account:[email protected]

In Mail/Data File I have this:

[email protected]
[email protected]

If [email protected] marked as Default I would have no issues with the Brent account.

Because the [email protected] marked as default that creates the problem. And I cannot delete the [email protected] in Mail/Data File. If I could delete the Default [email protected] Iwould then be able to mark [email protected] Default.

I have spent days on this this. Creating restore points,cr... Read more

Answer:Outlook 2010 Default Account

I rarely use the Control Panel > Mail and profiles when setting up Outlook as POP3 or IMAP. I just leave the profile as the default (Outlook I think.)

For POP3
Install and open Outlook. Continue without email support. It will create a default Outlook.pst in Documents > Outlook Files.
File > Open > Open Outlook Data File and open any and all my transferred .pst
File > Account settings > Data Files and assign the default to whichever I want
Close outlook and reopen with new data file as default.
Right-click the default Outlook file it created and close. Then I delete it.

Now I setup my POP accounts in Account settings email accounts making sure to point to my default pst as I like all mail coming into 1 inbox.

Have not had any issues doing it this way.

Answer:Cannot add new email account in Outlook 2010

Without knowing more about your mail server name and such.
Have you tried to Ping your mail server? like from the run cmd prompt ping mail.xxx.xxx
I ping mail.cpcug.org to verify that the server is on-line and responding.

You could double check all the options in outlook setup email accounts to make sure that
you have spelled everything correctly, that sometimes is the problem where mispelling will
mess you up.

also the more settings options will have to be looked at to make sure that the boxes are checked correctly.

These things can get tricky if you misspell, many mail servers want your complete email address for the logon userid..

YMMV

Try changing your user name to something else. It's possible the user name you are using is already being used by someone else on that email server.

Printing from Outlook causes Outlook to crash. Tried renaming or deleting the OutlPrnt file temporarily fixes the issue, however it starts to happen again in about a day. Tried recreating users logon profile, which again fixes it temporarily but the issue returned in about 3 days. Aside from reformatting the computer and re-installing windows, not much that can be done.

I just finished a long session with a good IT guy who rescued my computer, got rid of some malware--and thank goodness. But a while after he left I noticed that opening Outlook was stopped and under "show help" was the following message:

This error can occur if you attempt to run Outlook from a Terminal Server session when the offline Outlook Data File (.ost) is in use by the console session.
To access this instance of Outlook, exit the current Terminal Server session, and then start a new session by using the following Run command in Microsoft Windows:
mstsc.exe /CONSOLE
You must be an administrator on the computer that is accessing the console session. You cannot access a console session from a computer running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition. But you can do so from a computer running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

First I was wondering if I should do what it says. Or if it would be better and safer to uninstal and then reinstal MS Office?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had to do a Systems Restore because I had a problem after I tried to download Cute FTP8 from what I thought was a bona fide download site. I have got access to the internet and have done a full scan with Super Anti Spy which found only one tracker cookie, which was removed.

When I try to open Outlook I am told to will not open and I should try to repair it via the Control Panel, which I have. I found "Fix It" solution on the Microsoft site but that says the Fix It is not applicable to my software. (see attachment) I am lost!!! Can anyone please help me???

Hello,
I've had Outlook 2010 installed for over two years on my laptop and everything has worked great.

The other day, I tried to set up a new email account and when the wizard appeared, it didn't give me the choice for MANUAL setup. I then realized that the window for the wizard was not showing all the words... the sentences ran past the viewing window and outside where I could not see, which is where the manual set up button was "below". There are no scroll bars or a way to adjust the wizard and I even tried playing with my display settings which did not work either.

I did find a work around that got my email set up but I couldn't go into advanced settings to adjust ports because of the same issue. I've looked everywhere for a fix and haven't been able to find anything... please help!

Good Day

I have 2 accounts in my Outlook - A primary work email address and a second one - The supportdesk email of the company I work for(exchange account). Now I set up sound alerts and a desktop notifications for all mails but it does not work for the second account - When a new message comes in in inbox, I do not get any alerts.

I did some research and apparently Outlook only supports alerts/notifications for the primary account. I tried making the supportdesk the default./primary account but I still do not get alerts for it.

How can I get alerts for the 2nd exchange account(shared mail account)?

Is there a way I can set up this 2nd exchange account(supportdesk) in live mail online?

Thank you

The sequence is File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings. The second Account Settings button that opens beneath the first one when it is clicked is easily taken as just a tooltip, but it really is a button you need to click.

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping someone will be able to shed some light on an issue I'm having with Outlook 2010 concerning multiple email accounts.

I run a small home based business and have 3 seperate web mail address ([email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]) To save time I wanted to have my email managed by Outlook 2010 instead of having to log into the 3 accounts to check on new messages.

I set up the first account (myname) in Outlook easily and can send and recieve emails to that address. I then set up new accounts in Outlook for [email protected] and [email protected], by going to 'File' and 'Add Account'.

Each account name appears as a separate entity on the left side of Outlook, with it's relevant name followed by Inbox etc. However, the inboxes for the 2 new accounts only contain emails for the [email protected] inbox and I'm not recieving email for the 2 new accounts. The server test didn't flag any errors either. I have looked in 'Account Settings' and 'Data Files' and each account has it's own seprate data file such as C:\Users\My Computer Name\Documents\Outlook Files\[email protected] but I can't figure out how to make the incoming mail for each address go into their respective separate inboxes in Outlook.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (64) on my desktop and Windows 7 (64) on my laptop and have the same issue on both machines.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and will hope... Read more

Hi all. I just installed Outlook 2010 and created 3 email accounts, 2 from Hotmail and the other from my ISP (cablevision). It seems that my folders from Hotmail came over but not those from my ISP. Should they have? Also, how do I import my contact into Outlook? I certainly don't want to re-enter them again. Thanks. Alan

Hello Guys,

First off I just wanted to say you guys are awesome! Second, thanks for supporting this website. This is truly a way of giving back and making use of God's (or whatever you believe in) given talents. Keep up the good work guys and gals!

Anyway, I've searched the internet already for answers. but since i'm not a techie it's really hard for me to determine which is which.

OK, so here's my PROBLEM. I need to open emails on my deactivated Outlook 2010. So my previous company told me that it's OK for me to keep my computer but since i left I am no longer able to open the whole program. On the start button if I type in a certain email, it still shows up and has headlines, so i know it's still there. Even the most latest ones before i left. (until jan 2015)

There are certain files there that i need to get and i really need somebody's help to get it.

If in case it is not possible anymore, i have a copy of the old pst.file (until aug 2014) we switched over to ms exchange. Can somebody point me how i can copy that over to either my microsoft live mail (it's not that good) or help me copy that over my mac mail (if that is better)

Thanks for your help guys. Any video or direct links to answer would definitely help.

God Speed!

Answer:Need Help to open deactivated Outlook 2010 account

I'm sorry but this is not something that we can help you with as we have no idea if you are authorized to view those emails and this could cause an issue for your former employer.

Actually, when given the laptop, it should have been wiped clean and Windows reinstalled. If they don't mind you having access to those emails then they are the ones who should help you do so.

Since there's nothing we can do I'm closing this thread.

Hello,
I have a user in my office that when she sends a message in Outlook, it stays in the Outbox until she hits the Send/Receive button. Nobody else in the office has that problem. Is this a setting issue?

In Office 2013 Outlook, select File, then Options & in Advanced there is a Send/Receive section. Have a look in this to see if any changes fix the problem.

I have tried to post befor but being a newby, I probably made a mess of it.

I have two email addresses showing in my outlook left hand panel, one for a commercial web site I run and one for my personal email. I have configured Outlook to send all incoming mail whether commercial or private to one "Inbox" mine.

Because the commercial "Inbox" is no longer used, will it be safe to remove it's details from the panel to simplify matters please?

If anyone has the answer, please let me know?

Thanks,

Clicking the "OK" gets a MS Exchange Dialog Box w/ "General" as a title. It wants a valid MS Exchange Server and mailbox". I have tried everything and a cancel from here and Outlook ends. Entering something get the dialog box back. The wonderous code won't let me fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and this doesn't go away. Any one with any thoughts please!?

Does someone know where the outlook info is stored. Maybe I can delete that? Any thoughts or suggestions? I need to re start setup somehow. Why can't I. This needs to be fixed so that if something is wrong in setup, the programmer allows you to re enter it rather than totally trash the process and close Outlook thus totally preventing any possible repair.

Whilst my office suite (2010) seems to have migrated well, has anyone had any issues with sending mail from Outlook.
I have a exchange server account in Outlook which works fine, however I also have a BT Internet (Yahoo version) pop 3 account, which is set to the correct settings. However, this account receives ok on port 110, and also when sent a test message from port 25, it works and comes back fine. However, when I actually send a real message, the smtp will not send, which seems strange. Port 25 is the correct setting as email is same as service provider.

Greetings,

I have had about one week of frustration and I am hoping someone can help with this.

I had Outlook 2010 on a hosted exchange with Apptix. The cost was 35.00 per month so I changed to Office 365 )business essentials I think) with GoDaddy. This is where the problems started.

When ever I try to get Outlook 2010 and Office 365 to work together I can't do it. I think it has to do with old data files or something which tries to redirect my to the Apptix exchange which I no longer have.

Talking to support at GoDaddy is like talking to a rock.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2010 3 times today and it still does not work. Could it be that it finds the old data or .pst or .ost files or something else?

I desperately need this to start working.

Any help highly appreciated.

Thank you

Greetings;
I would appreciate some advice from anyone who has tried -- successfully or unsuccessfully -- to remove a component of Office 2010 WITHOUT uninstalling the whole suite and then reinstalling it excluding that particular component.

Specifically, I want to remove Outlook (I thought I custom installed without Outlook... but there is is!) I have read at several help sites that a single Office 2010 component may be easily removed by going to the "Programs and Features>Install or change a Program" panel, selecting "Office 2010," then selecting the "Change" button and following to a list of components that may be selected or unselected.

BUT, I have also read (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...4261.aspx)that individual components may not be removed without uninstalling the whole suite and then deselecting during a custom reinstall.

Recounts of any related experience with this procedure would be appreciated. I am also not sure what to expect when/if I get to the final "Change" option panel. I am not sure if I am expected to check the box of the component I want to remove... or to UNcheck it.

Thanks much. I will report any results.

Answer:How to remove just Outlook from Office 2010

Use the Change button in Control Panel>Programs and Features after selecting Office 2010. Deselect Outlook and any other components you don't want, but keep the Tools as they can be needed for maintenance and repairs.

Okay folks with Office 2010 beginning to appear tp partners this means we will see it soon in the retail channel. There is an issue when using the 64 bit version of Outlook. Yes office can now be had in 64 bit.

The 64 bit version of Outlook will NOT sync with any Windows phones or with any mobile device that uses Windows Mobile Device Center for syncing.

Microsoft has stated in their partner forums that this issue is with WMDC and not Outlook however while they know of this problem there will NOT be a fix forth coming.

You hear right MS has admited they know the issue and said they will not fix it. They suggest that instead users only install the 32 bit version if they need to sync outlook using WMDC.

This is worse than sad...

Kyle this is a big enough deal I am wondering if it should not be a front page story. BTW I have the release of 2010 (MAPS) and have confirmed this issue.

Hi - I am running Outlook 2010 on a Win 7 Professional 64 bit system.

I have been running basically the same configuration successfully for over a year now, with multiple email accounts. Everything worked fine up until this morning, when I was sending a series of emails with attachments. Each email's attachments totalled up to 6 mb, and the grand total of all of the attachments was about 24 mb.

Everything went smoothly up until my last email, and it just sat in my outbox and wouldn't go anywhere. I eventually sent it with a different account with a different ISP.

I have tried sending other emails on the same account, some without attachments, some with small attachments, but it appears that the account is "broken" for sending email. I can still receive email on all accounts and send email from every other account.

I have double-checked the settings for the troublesome account and when I use the Test Account Settings button everything appears to work fine as it successfully sends the test message.

I found a reference to a built-in limit for Outlook attachments of 20 mb, and ran the Microsoft fixit which removes that limit, but it had no effect.

One curious thing is that when I hit the send button, which places the email in my Outbox, the email does not have the italicized font which indicates an unsent message as was always the case up until now.

Any hints would be most appreciated -

Many thanks

There was an iTunes update a day or so ago. During the installation Apple does not even mention that they will be messing with your Outlook installation.

Once again Apple screws up Windows applications.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

During the Office 2010 installation you have the option to choose whether to have everything installed to your computer, whether to install just some of the options, whether to install on first use or not install a particular option such as Outlook.

Can you remember which options you chose?

You can always reinsert your Office DVD and choose the repair option or uninstall it, and then re-install choosing all the options.

Dear Friends,
I have problems setting up Outlook 2010 to use the appropriate email account and signature automatically when replying to messages.
I use 3 email accounts, and for each account I have created a distinct signature both for new and reply emails.
The problem is that when someone sends me an email to any of the 3 accounts and I reply, no matter what, Outlook always uses the reply signature of the default email account. It should use the reply signature corresponding to the account the email was sent to.
So far, when replying to messages, I always have to remember to manually switch the ?from? account to match the account the sender used to send me the email.
Outlook is supposed to use the appropriate account when replying to messages. So if someone sends an email to my business email account, and even if that is not the default account, Outlook should use the account and signature I have assigned to reply to messages for that specific account and not always use by default the reply account and signature assigned to the default account.
Please help me resolve this issue so that I do not mistakenly reply to someone using the wrong account.
For example, I do not want to reply to family and friends with the account used for business. If family and friends send emails to my personal email account, Outlook should automatically use that account when replying and thus inserting the reply signature for my personal account.
Look forward to any guidance.
Sincerely,
Mario Cresp... Read more

Answer:Problems setting up Outlook 2010 to use the appropriate email account

Hello Mario,

Welcome to SevenForums.

Lets start with a few questions to eliminate the obvious. I assume you setup the signatures seperately for each account using this panel?

I found some additional information about signatures here: (browse down towards the bootom of the page)

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/signatures.htm

One suggestion I read, was that the signature it picks to use is related to the folder that you currently have highlighted. I'm not entirely sure how that works, perhaps you could experiment with that?

Let us know how you get on.

Hi all

I haven't discovered a way yet of switching a POP3 account to IMAP without deleting and re-defining the email account in Outlook 2010.

IMAP is a better way if you access the same email account from multiple machines. If the account was originally defined with POP3 there doesn't seem any mechanism to change it to IMAP without deleting and re-creating the entire account.

This means backing up and restoring all the messages, address books etc before doing this -- a bit of a pain if you have to do this for 50 - 100 users and their email accounts.

Any quick fix or have I missed something.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:Outlook 2010 cannot change POP3 account to IMAP

You haven't missed anything, as far as I know there is no way to change pop to imap.

A bit of a warning though, in the past when I have switched users from pop to imap and I added the additional IMAP account then moved the stuff from the pop account folders to the IMAP, sometimes email etc just disappears completely despite saying it had copied.

I could really use some help please. I had an Outlook 2010 account as a contracted person with the UN and they killed the account and decided to use a gmail account (I have no idea why!). I would like to get all my emails (folders too if possible) on, say, a USB stick and then put it on my new work computer.

I tried the Export function but you need to sign in and the account doesn't work. So, can I copy the outlook.pst file or even all of the .pst files and then open them somehow in another computer with Outlook?

I don't want to use these anymore to contact or respond, I just want to have the messages and the addresses of the people who sent them to me and my outgoing messages and conversations too.

So what can I do here?

Thanks a lot!

We are in the middle of moving from a local exchange server to using Microsoft hosted mail. Currently, both our local mail and office 365 mail are active. As an intermediary step, I am attaching both accounts to our current version of outlook (2010), so that people can move mail through Outlook at their own pace. So far, I've set this up a dozen times with minimal issues, but I have run into a strange problem.

One user's outlook fails repeatedly to add the account. It acts like it's working fine, but when outlook requests the password, my user types it in, and the box requesting the password pops up again. I even tried creating a new mail profile, but it also had issues. The problem has to be with that installation of outlook, specifically, and possibly the user profile. This user has had a lot of issues with their outlook before, sometimes due to data size issues (too many names in the junk list, just flat too much email, period).

Greetings and I hope you can help me find a solution!
I have Win 7 OS on both my laptop and desktop. I've installed the same trial Office 2010 to both (ran it concurrently with 2007 to begin with but decided that 2010 was the one for me.) Both set-ups ran w/ no problems, then the Outlook on the desktop started crashing when I attempted to change the calendar (my school teaching schedule -recurring occurances) It would let me use mail, etc. but would (still does) crash when I attempt(ed) anything more than just look at the calendar. I've done the following: Uninstalled Office 2007; uninstalled and then reinstalled-first pro plus 2010, now office standard 2010 (new trial download direct from MS)-- uninstalled...then reinstalled new hotmail connector app. Ran sfc /scannow...OK Amazingly (to me) it remembered my calendar (and ability to crash!) through all this. It now will crash on attempting to open outlook half the time (or more frequently)It looks like ntdll.dll is a cause. Attached is a couple of the problem "details" after crash. Thanks in advance for your help.

The following message occurs when clicking on any link in an email in Outlook 2010:

"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this comptuer. Please contact your system administrator."

I am running a stand alone desktop computer in my home. Lenovo All-IN-One touchscreen C40-05, Windows 10, Home, MS Office 2010. I suppose I am the administrator because my wife refused the job and our children are grown and have all left home.

Removing Chrome and making Edge the default browser before reinstalling Chrome did not help the situation.

Answer:Cannot use links from emails in Outlook, MS Office 2010

The Microsoft fix is at Hyperlinks are not working in Outlook

The reference to Outlook is a little misleading, as the description in the section Let me fix it myself makes clear. It is an error in IE that is causing the problem and the problem will appear with the app that you happen to be using when you click on a hyperlink. So you should be alright afterwards.

I upgraded Outlook 2007 to 2010. I did this via purchasing a new seat of 2007 to get the upgrade last week for free.

Please bear with me but with Office Pro 2007, inclusive of Outlook already installed, I found the only way to activate the upgradable new seat of Outlook 2007 (required of course for the upgrade to 2010) was to remove Office Pro 2007 (and its Outlook 2007), then install and activate the new upgradable seat of Outlook 2007.

Anyway, Outlook 2010 is up and running, but I of course need the other 2007 applications back

My question Lord willing is simple, when I put the Office Pro 2007 disk in, will it ask me if I want to install it's 2007 version of Outlook over Outlook 2010, or will it just do it(!)...?

You want to do a "custom" install of office 2007, just uncheck "outlook" and install whatever else you want. You can only have one installed copy of outlook at a time.

I have been using Office 2007 and have just purchased Office 2010. Installed it today and all seemed to install Ok except when I went to open Outlook I received the message: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook.
Cannot open the Outlook window.
The set of folders cannot be opened.
The operation failed.The messaging
interfaces have returned an unknown
error.If problems persist, restart
Outlook. Outlook cannot open this item.
The item may be damaged"
There are then buttons for "Repair Tool" or "Cancel"
In "Repair Tool", a box then comes up asking: "Enter the name of the file you want to scan" Where do I find this?

Should I delete this new installation and start again? If I do, will I loose all my e-mail files including Address Book?

Answer:Upgraded to MS Office 2010 - Outlook won't open

Did you upgrade overtop of 2007, or did you remove it first and then install 2010? A clean install is always better.

You didn't give any details as to what kind of e-mail account you have. Either way, you should have backed up your info to a .pst file, unless you are using IMAP or Exchange, before running the upgrade. I'm guessing you didn't. If not, search your computer for a .pst file or a .ost.

An out of office message keeps being sent despite the dates being long past, I have enabled "don't send replies automatically" which is the advice on the MS website & everywhere else I've looked, this is now also greyed out so I can't undo & do it again even. This is driving my colleagues nuts!!

Answer:Can't delete an out of office message in Outlook 2010

Have you turned off the out of office assistant? MS Support
Or is it set up at the isp/domain server end and isn't on Outlook?

It looks like MS has not included an easy way to backup your pst files in Outlook 2010.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Answer:Office 2010 Outlook Beta Backup

I have ALWAYS backed up my PST file manually in all versions.

It's just a file, make sure Outlook is not rumming (or has not run since last boot) before doing it.

The Microsoft utility is a download (not part of the original install) in Outlook 2007. Have you tried for a download for your version

I am viewing a contact and click to send them an email and the usual form appears which I complete and send. I know, or hope, it gets sent, but it doesn't appear in my sent folder. Whereas when sending via the new email section, which involves me sometimes copying and pasting the address, the email gets listed as usual.
I would save time if I could activate "send Email" from within a contact. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Answer:Email via Contacts in Office Outlook 2010

I'm still on Outlook 2007 but you shouldn't have to copy and paste emails from the contacts. In the new mail window (form) are you clicking on To or CC which should open up your contacts list in a new little window.
Does it show in Outbox before it goes? Do people get them? You may have more than one sent folder eg sent items or sent.

I am using Office 2010 and have a problem thatI thought would be easy to fix but I was wrong!

I am able to open all attachments and preview them except PDF files. I used to be able to open/preview PDF files as well until I unchecked the box that says, " Always ask before opening this type of file" on the Open Mail Attachment (Exhibit 1).

Now all I get with PDF files is what you see in Exhibit 2.

I am using FoxIt Reader as default PDF reader but I get the same results when I make Adobe Reader the default.

I am familiar with making registry changes and have tried modifying the EditFlags key under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FoxitReader.Document to both 00 00 01 00 and 00 00 00 00 neither made any difference to Outlook PDF Attachments.

Same for Adobe Reader when that was the default I modified HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document to both 00 00 01 00 & 00 00 00 00...no change in Outlook.

All I want is for the PDF attachments to behave the same way all the other attachments behave.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ned

The following message occurs when clicking on any link in an email in Outlook 2010:

"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this comptuer. Please contact your system administrator."

I am running a stand alone desktop computer in my home. Lenovo All-IN-One touchscreen C40-05, Windows 10, Home, MS Office 2010. I suppose I am the administrator because my wife refused the job and our children are grown and have all left home.

Removing Chrome and making Edge the default browser before reinstalling Chrome did not help the situation.

I currently have Office 2003 Pro and use Outlook 2003. I downloaded the 2010 Pro trial version so I could look at Outlook and Word. However, as it turns out, Outlook 2010 will not install if there is a previous version of Outlook installed.

How can someone evaluate if it won't install? All the other 2010 applications install with the Office 2003 applications.

I don't want to uninstall Outlook 2003 as I maintain several mailing lists for a club. It would be a task getting all this recreated in a new version - just so I could try it.

Answer:Office 2010 Trial - Outlook will not install

Only outlook doesnt sit with the older version..all other programs can be installed as new by changing the location where 2010 wants to get installed.

AFAIK, no changes will take place when you install outlook 2010 over 2007. All email, accounts, rules and contacts remain unchanged. I have personally tried this. But I am not sure about 2003 version.

I can suggest you try Outlook 2010 in a virtual machine and then decide whether to go for it or not.

Hi
Not sure whether I have posted in the right forum, I having problems with outlook 2010 keeps on stopping.
thanks

Answer:microsoft office outlook 2010 keeps stopping

You could try doing a repair.  You'll find it in the Control Panel's Programs and Features applet.  Click on Microsoft Office, then click Change, then follow onscreen instructions.  I'm giving you directions for Windows 7 since you didn't say what version you have.  If you have a different version, it could be different.

Good luck.

I would like to be able to use the same folders and email account setup for all Windows User Accounts.
I have multiple Windows accounts: MS Admin Account, Local Admin Account, Local Limited User Account, etc.
I have multiple Email accounts: Hotmail, Outlook.com, Gmail, AIM, and Bellsouth (at&t).
I prefer to use IMAP email accounts.

I would like to be able to login to Windows with any account, and when i open Office Outlook it will use the same Office Outlook Email Accounts, folders, and setup.

I'm a home user, this is not for a business/enterprise.
I have dual boot Win 7 Pro x64, Win 10 Pro x64, and MS Office Pro 2010 on both OS's.
I don't have a NAS, "always on server", etc.

i.e.
When i setup an IMAP email account it creates a .pst file in the specific User folder such as
C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
or
C:\Users\David-Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Can i have it use the same folder for all Windows accounts, such as
D:\Email\All Users\Outlook
or
C:\Users\All Users\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
?

From what I've been reading, I don't know how to do this, or if it's possible ?
Can I setup an Exchange Server, multiple Profiles, etc. ?

If I can have Office Outlook prompt for a User Account/PW when i open Outlook, that would be fine for me.

Hi,
I am running two computers - desktop with Win 8 - laptop with Win 8.1. both have new installs of MS Office 2010. laptop runs everything OK, exported all my mail/contacts etc from laptop to my desktop and have checked them (contacts etc) and all identical and correct. When i send a test mail on my laptop my first name (Terry) appears correctly when received on both my machines.
My problem is with my desktop - when I send a test on it, it is ok in the Sent mail box (i.e. Terry) but when I send it it appears as from Terrry - note the extra 'r'. this happens on any machine that receives my send from my desktop. i have been through ALL my settings and cannot see where it is picking up this extra 'r' from.
It is driving me up the wall! Does anyone have any ideas ?
Thanks

I have Office 2013 on my HP Surface Pro and it has been working fine ever since I installed it 5 months ago.  Now today when I was sending a new e-mail and click on the TO: in order to bring up my list of contacts, I do not get the contacts list but instead
get a window that is titled "Select Names: Contacts".  Type your search keywords and click "Go" to perform a search.
I can type the person's name in the search field and it pulls them up.  I then touch on To in this search window and it will then
allow me to select OK which transfers the person's e-mail address to the New Email screen.

I can't figure out what has happened.

My contact folder still contains all of my e-mail addresses but they will not pull up from the create a new email screen when you click on the TO: field while attempting to select e-mail address.

Can anyone help me?  I have tried everything I know to do.
Thanks

Answer:Office Outlook 2010 will not access contacts

First, which version of Office do you have? You start by saying you have 2013, but then at the end you say you have 2010. This is important, as there are significant changes to the user interface between 2010 and 2013. Are you using the Outlook client on the computer, or the Outlook web app? Also, are you searching for the contacts in Outlook, or are you searching using the Windows 8 search bar?

I installed MS OFFICE 2010, without Outlook, over 2007 with, thinking that Outlook would remain. Not so, and after a long phone conversation with MS Rep, who couldn't adjust settings to repair, offered to ring back after the weekend. Before she rang off I very tongue in cheek suggested she asked her manager if Outlook 2010 could be installed free, for my trouble!Great result as, when call back came manager had agreed, for my trouble to install, free. Great stuff. One up to Microsoft. Only slight niggle, and I can't complain really, I don't get the email alert message in corner of monitor.I don't think the problem is caused by Outlook.I've checked the necessary boxes in Settings and Options, but think cause may be because I use an IMAP email server. Can anyone confirm, and suggest a solution please?

Answer:Outlook in Office 2010 and email alerts

go to File, Outlook Options, Mail, Message Arrival, and ensure 'Display a desktop alert' is ticked.

I am having constant issues with Outlook not displaying the "CRM" Ribbon at the top, I have tried going to the the registry and deleting the 2.4 key that did not help, please see this link The Outlook and CRM ribbons disappear from Microsoft Outlook when you use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Client for Microsoft Office Outlook
Exit Outlook.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}
Right-click the 2.4 registry key, and then select Export. Save the export to your desktop to create a backup.
Right-click the 2.4 key again, and then select delete.
Start Outlook.
This did not work as the ribbon still was not showing.

Hello,

I'm having an issue with outlook whenever I try to open it, it says "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook." I'm not sure what the problem is, could anyone please help me.

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit.

Answer:I can't open Microsoft Office Outlook 2010.

See whether you can find All Programs > MS Office > Office Tools > Office Diagnostics. Run that and see what happens. I have only Office 2007, so I am not 100% certain whether that is the same setup for 2010.

My ISP is BT. Over the last few months I have been having problems with Outlook downloading and sending emails. Currently I am receiving emails but cannot send them, they get stuck in the Out Box. I have cleared this. I have cleared the Cookies. I have rebooted many times. I have been onto the Yahoo Site and made sure that I do not have a huge backlog of stored emails.
So, I have no problem when I use the same email account through the Yahoo Interface, but Outlook keeps asking me to log in "again".
The Contacts part of Outlook contains roughly 20 years of information on family, friends and their families, and the details of the Businesses I deal with, their Reps and their families. This is information that I need when I am sending them an email, but, the email side of it is a very small part of the equation. The stored information is what keeps me with Outlook
Any ideas on how I might get my emails running smoothly again

I'm running Microsoft Office 2010. One day I had Outlook Mail open, when all of a sudden up popped a calendar reminder that I DIDN'T PUT THERE--someone else did! It said some hokey thing like "Dear Friend, don't forget meeting next week," and kept popping up until I dismissed it like any other reminder. A few weeks later a similar one appeared. I contacted Microsoft and the tech I chatted with was amazed and said she'd have to look further into that because she had no idea what was going on....then I never heard anything again. Is that weird or what?

Are these files you are working on local to your machine or are they over some sort of network? If they are network files, it may be timing out trying to create temp/caches of the file you are working on as undo procedures. If it's a network file save a copy of it to somewhere local on your computer and try editing it.
