Windows Explorer 'In Folder' missing from 'details' bar ?

Question: Windows Explorer 'In Folder' missing from 'details' bar ?

When open WE, cant get 'In Folder' to show in 'details' bar as it does in Search Companion (srcnshot attached).
Seems to have disappeared after having some 'legacy' registry problems, working with Mbam.
Have tried doing an XP-SP2 repair (along with SP3 update) install, but not luck.
Thoughts ?

Preferred Solution: Windows Explorer 'In Folder' missing from 'details' bar ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello All,

Is there any way to have explorer folder details(customized order) to change ALL folders to that setting? Here is what I mean:

- Open explorer and right click on the right pane next to "name".
- Select "more" from the menu
- In the "choose details menu" default check boxes are name, date modifed,
type, size(in that order). I prefer the view order of: name, size, type, date modified. When I "move" those 4 detail in that order its in force for that folder.
My question is, is there anyway I can to apply that order to ALL folders on the harddrive? Its a bit burdening to have to do this to every folder. I don't see
any setting for this in Folder Options.

I've only been using Win7 for a week. Any information appreciated.

For Windows 7, is there a list of the 'Details' available in the Windows Explorer folder view called 'Details' which has an explanation for each of them? Most of them are simple but some leave me scratching my head.

Answer:explanation of 'Details' in Windows Explorer 'Details' view

The "Details" which are available are those you see when a list of files is in "Details" view (as opposed to "Icons" or "Tiles" views. In "Details" view, depending on which column categories you have enabled, you are shown such things as filesize, file-date, filetype etc. If you then right-click any column header, you can choose to hide or show more information columns.I can't see how any of that can leave you scratching your head as it's no different to previous versions of Windows in that respect.

This started happening all of a sudden...when I right-click on an mp3 and look under the Details tab, all of the information (artist, album, bitrate, etc.) is completely blank and it doesn't let me change it. iTunes can see the details no problem.

Anyone know what's causing this? Thanks.

When I display a folder containing *.mpg video files and I switch to 'Details' view, file explorer crashes after a few moments. I've read online that this might be related to bad codecs on my machine. Is there a way to definitively test this or is there a trusted site where I can download an up-to-date set of comprehensive Codecs (with instructions on how to perform this Codec 'update')?

I'm running Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit and I use the VLC media player as my default program associated with video files.

Until recently, when using Windows Explorer, I was able to right click on an mp3 file, select properties, then the details tab and thus be able to see title, artist, album and other information. Now when I right click, I don't get the details tab (for any type file). What could have changed? Thanks

Answer:Win7 Explorer file Details tab missing?

A Windows update may have changed the options for security or stability reasons. The effect may not have been their direct intention, but a result of 'fixing' something else. You can still get this information in Windows Media player (or what ever they are calling it these days) or in Real Player. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane. This site is about helping people, lets keep it that way.

If you mean Favorites in the navigation pane of Windows Explorer, then it depends on how you or whatever removed it

I am hoping that some Windows guru will help me with this question.

I have music file folders (mp3 albums ripped from original CD's or purchased from Amazon.)
When I view these mp3 files, I don't like to see the default columns. Here's what I see:

Name / date modified / type / size.

I can highlight these files in the folder, right click the column name and select or deselect to chose whatever I want. However, I want to be able to change the default stucture to make it permanent.
So, this is what I prefer if it is possible:

Name (track name with mp3 ext.) / # (track number) / title (track name) / Contributing artists / Album

This would be awesome for my needs.
Is it possible?

Thank You.

Originally when XP installed, for pictures, when File\Properties was selected the pane had two tabs: 'General' and 'Summary'. Now only the General tab shows in the pane. The Summary could then be expanded to 'Advanced' which showed all the meta data for the picture, i.e. details of the camera, exposure, f number, etc. This was very useful. The change may have occured when I included a Windows update. I have included all the Windows updates available for XP from the Microsoft site. Why is this second tab 'Summary' not now available? Any ideas or suggestions most welcome.

I can access the ftp server using IE or another web browser, even using WINSCP and other ftp file transfer software. I need to be able to connect to ftp server using windows explorer again. Can any of you help?
The ftp.exe is not blocked in firewall rules (i've checked).
Any comments/helps are appreciated.

I must be searching for the wrong thing - I can't find a solution to this simple problem.

In Windows 10, if I open a folder which has mp3s or WAVs in it, Windows decides I want to see things like "title", "contributing artists", "album" etc... It drives me mental. All I ever want to see in an explorer window is file type, file size and created and modified dates.

I can't believe this isn't easy to set, but I can't find it. Please help - I work in music and every time I export an audio file I have to spend 10 seconds changing the view in the blinking folder to make sure what I need is there.

Is there a way to ensure that when I open explorer, it defaults to details view?? I've tried opening explorer and changing it to details, holding the control key when closing it and when I open explorer, it displays in details view, until you click on a folder (flash drive) and it changes to icon view when showing the contents of the flash drive. Is there a way to change the Windows Explorer default setting so that every time I use it the list of all the folders and sub-folders are displayed to show the Details setting? Right now I can change it for one folder and then I have to do it all over again for subsequent folders. I want it to default to the details option always. I am running Win XP and all the updates are current. It's a single user machine if that matters.
If this involves anything having to do with something called "registry," please remember that I'm really a beginner and have no idea how you do anything with "registry." It seems like it's always being mentioned though in every problem that needs to be fixed in Windows.

Hey everyone,

I have been playing around with this for a while now and can't seem to do it.

Its there a way to show the year and size of a folder in a folder under details view?

What I mean is this. I have a folder that contains roughly 500 videos. Every video is contained in its own folder with the same name. What I would like is to be able to have the size of each folder and the year show in Details view.

EG...
Name | Size | Year
Video | 3gb. | 2005

Can this be done or am I just dreaming?

Yes you can do it by applying following settings:

Open Windows Explorer (Shortcut : Windows Key + E))

Click on View as shown in below picture.

Now select Details as shown in below picture:

It will display your folder with all the details.

None of those worked. I'm running Windows 7 Professional. The KMPlayer is the default to play my MKV files (works great), but I can change that to Windows Media Player if needed to show the details and thumbnails. Any suggestions?

And I can't install DivX Plus Codec Pack like other people have recommend because my laptop isn't connected to the internet (no wireless). To install the other things I've just put the installer on a USB and then installed them from the USB onto my laptop.

Hi,

This is an irritation rather than a major problem, but I'd still like to sort it.

The problem is that in Windows Explorer every time a new folder is created and often when changes are made to existing folders, my preffered view of full details gets changed to icons.

I've changed back to details, gone to Tools/Folder Options/View and hit the Apply to all folders button till I'm blue in the face, but this never seems to stick.

I'm running XP Pro SP2 using classic views.

Any ideas?

So I found my product key and put i tin and it won't work? It says it can't be accepted and to use another one?It was originally a windows 8 but I did the update to make it an 8.1.Anyone able to help?   Also where can I find the details to my laptop? Answer:Problems with Y510P, windows expiring and won't accept product key, plus missing details.

It should not be asking for a Windows key if it was ONLY an update from Windows 8 to 8.1 Did you change the HDD, modified BIOS or installed 8.1 differently than going into "Update & Recovery"? Your Serial Number and Model No should be on the Invoice which Lenovo sent you.It should also be in the Final order email and the Lenovo Order Status on the website. Note it down, since I also couldn't find it on my laptop as a sticker.

I am also unable to edit the file details. They're all mostly .mp3 files

When you open windows explorer check option ?Views? and set it to ?Details? so you should be able to see file name, size, type, artist, Album title, year, track number and duration.
You can open windows media player, go to library and check if you can edit each file listed there.

I want to make some specific changes to the default Preview Details string for picture files in Windows Explorer. I have found an excellent write-up on how to edit that string using regedit, but the author was only interested in the specific around music. In the attached picture, I show the file properties/attributes that I am interested in placing in the Detail Pane. The current edited string is shown below.

prop:System.Photo.DateTaken;System.Keywords;System.Title;System.Subject;
*System.Photo.PeopleNames;*System.Contact.Location;*System.Contact.StateOrProvince;
*System.Contact.Country;System.Comment;*System.DateCreated;*System.DateModified;
*System.SharedWith

As you can see, some work, others don't. Is there a comprehensive list of these properties and their syntax in the form
(*)System.xxxx.yyy
that one can refer to when modifying the string?

Why are certain details, such as Frame Height, allowed in Windows Explorer when looking in a specific folder, but are missing when searching the contents of the same folder?

For example, I'm inside a folder (in details view) of video files and ask Explorer to show details of Frame Height. It will show that for certain file types. But when I search for one of the files by name, the Frame Height will be blank for the same file it just showed me the info for.

Answer:Windows Explorer won't show file details in search

It is generally accepted that the Windows 7 search is inadequate. Most here use AgentRansak, FileSearchEX, or Void Everything.

Hi, folks!

I'm trying hard to find at Internet a program or some way to output the informations from column details in Windows Explorer to a file (or to clipboard), cause I use different columns beside the normal information like filename, size, date, depending of the content of my folders. I.E. For a picture folder, I display dimensions of pics; for a mp3 folder, display bitrate and duration; for a video folder, display bitrate, duration and resolution (when available). I already tried a lot of programs, but none extract the informations the way I want (almost all of them just list the default columns, like filename, size and date) and I need a program that extract the columns exactly the way they are displayed in Windows Explorer. By the way, I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Thanks in advance.

Reginaldo

PS: Sorry about my english errors, I'm Brazilian :-)

Hello, I apologize if this issue has been addressed already, but I can't seem to find a thread with a solution to my problem. Whenever I set my view to "Details," my windows explorer would always set itself to other views such as Tiles, or other times, it would usually get rid of the other columns, and only the "Name" column appears while all the other columns disappear. If I add all the columns that I had originally back to its state, it would then go to other settings of view (usually Tiles) or just go back to having no other columns except "Name." These are just some examples of the issue that I have. Even if I went to Folder Options, and clicked on "Apply to Folders" or "Reset Folders," the problem still persists. Some folder's sub-folders even get affected for some reason. I have even scanned my computer for any malware, viruses, worms etc. I have Windows Vista, and I use AVG 9.0 and Ad-Aware for protection. They detect the computer is clean, and I always scan my computer on a regular basis. Thus far, I can't get the views to be fixed and not have it change to other views and settings. Is there any solution to this? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

In Windows Explorer, Detail View, is there a way to remove/disable the additional columns? (ie: Track, Artist, length, etc) I'm a simple person, and only want the main columns displayed, (Size, Type, Date) and Windows 7 seems to ignore me when i change the views. Even the "Reset All", and "Apply to All" seem to be ignored after a day later.

In XP your could remove them from RegEdit under HKCR\SystemFileAssociations and deleting the "Audio", "Video", and "Images" keys, and Explorer would 'forget' how to handle them, and details view would remain the same, but Win7 doesn't seem to respond to this either.

I generally use the "details" view in Windows File Explorer a lot. This is an example:

As you can see, I can sort my file types in various ways by clicking on the different columns at the top. However, I have a question:

Is it possible to create a custom column in File Explorer that I can use to sort files by based upon their file extension? I'm not talking about changing the columns that are already there or picking from the huge list that you get when right click at the top and pick "More." What I want to do is create a custom column that I can enter text in for based upon the file extension which I can then use to sort my files into groups (such as audio, video, projects, etc.)

This could help me stay much more organized in File Explorer. However, you may be wondering why I don't just use the option to sort my files by "type" or "extension." The reason that I don't want to do this is because then not all of my files will be in the precise order that I want them to. Even though I found a way to modify the "Type" text for SOME files, as you can probably see in the image, I have not been able to for ALL file types (such as PNG, JPG, and JPEG), which is a real roadblock. This is because FileTypesMan is an old program and Registry Tweaks don't seem to be working even after I restart Windows Explorer.

Because of this, I'm wondering if there's a way to create a custom column that I can enter custom text into (which w... Read more

Hi, I just re-installed windows 7 on my desktop pc and have a question about the settings of the details pane in windows explorer (the one that appears and the bottom when you select a file). Previously when I selected video files (.mp4, .avi and .mkv) I would get the details at the bottom, the video frame width and height, size of file etc.. but since I reinstalled I don't get these details when I select video files. I know its only a small problem but I work with video files a lot and have gotten used to seeing the resolution of files without having to open them. Does anyone know how I can get the details pane to show these details again? At the moment it only displays the video size, name and state.

Here is a screen-shot of the details pane for a selected .mkv video file on my laptop, this is what I want it to display on my pc.

Answer:Solved: Windows explorer details pane for videos problem

Is the folder set as a "Video" type?
Look at the properties of the folder, and there you will see a drop down list for the type.

I found no solution in Windows Explorer's View menu, Options, and Help.

I would suspect it was due to me shutting down some 'process' or 'service' (2 weeks ago), but as far as I can see, all possibly-relevant processes and services are now running.

A related issue was raised by someone else and responded to by me here: Can't Rate Media in Explorer (Vista Home).

ANYONE that recognizes these symptons please help me IDENTIFY this infection!
I plugged a friends Seagate Expansion drive (SRD00F1) into my machine's usb port and Windows Vista started to load the drivers and then stopped. I went to My Computer and the machine can't see the drive at all. After this I started to see the following occurring:
1) All the normal column names in Explorer are gone, Author is the only one showing. All of the common ones are unavailable when I try to choose details by right clicking the column header, Filename, Date Created/Created, Size etc...
2) Many windows won't open, specifically Control Panel windows like "Backup and Restore Center" and System.
3) Explorer shows no filenames or folder names.
4) The "Start Search" feature of the Start Bar returns nothing.
5) In My computer the sizes of the drives and free space are in bytes, not KB or MB.

It seems like some rootkit, but I can't figure out which one, the external drive that caused the infection hasn't been used in months, so it can't be something brand new.
Any assistance on identifying this infection and removing it would be greatly appreciated.

When I use the details view, the vertical spacing between rows is so big it makes it hard to scan down long lists. It's most notable when chaning from list view to details view, also the folder pane on the left doesn't have this odd spacing. I know MS has embraced liberal use of white space, but this spacing is uncommon and very hard to use for long lists. Is there any way to change this back to normal?

Hi,

I had a problem where my system32 folder was not showing in windows epxplorer. I could not figure out why. I could access it directly by typing in c:\windows\system32 and I could acces it through my command promt, but it simply was not showing in explorer under my windows folder nor was my search function finding it. But my computer was working just fine as far as I could see.

I could not find the solution here on the forums so I checked elsewhere and found the solution to having it display again. So, if you are having this same problem, here is the solution...

Simple, just go to your command promt and type in...

attrib -a -h -r -s c:\windows\system32 (and of course hit enter)

The problem should be solved and your system32 folder should now be showing up once again. Worked for me!

However, I cannot say why this even happened in the first place or how the above command fixes the problem. Perhaps someone else can clarify all this.

And BTW, I was not hiding system hidden folders and files so that was not the reason.

Anyway, I love this forum and I thought it would be a good idea to post this here in hopes that it might help someone else with the same problem.

Hi can I ask a little advice please I am using Windows 7 professional 64 bit and I have a little problem I Have quite a lot of Audio books and when I open a folder that a book is in I would like it to show different details at the top of the folder.

I don’t need to alter the all the folders on the computer just the ones with the audio books in I have attached a screenshot as you can see the usual details are ticked and are displayed in the folder details.

But some of the details I would like to display like Author and Comments I have to click on the word (more) then I have scroll down a list to tick the ones I would like displayed.

So is there a way I can move some of these details to the top of the list please

I need some direction (or reassurance) about setting up a new Win 7 system using an older Win 7 user folder.

I had Win 7 Ultimate on an HP with the user folders on a separate internal drive. The HP died; the drive with the user folders is intact. This user folder has almost 400 GB of data that we need to keep as is. (My wife's a video producer with several projects in work.)

I bought a new Lenovo with Win 7 Home Premium. I set up user accounts (on the system drive) and then added the drive with the HP user accounts. I made the necessary registry changes to access the added drive for user folders. Upon booting, I checked the properties of my user folder on the drive I added and it reported 0 bytes!! I didn't want to risk losing that data so I shut it down. My original user folder still has everything I want and need.

I know the user folder has data for my applications. Is there data in the user folder specific for the computer I'm on? If so, what do I merge from the Lenovo user folder with my big user folder? If not, was the "0 byte report" a fluke?

Also, would I be better off installing all my applications before incorporating this big user folder? I have not yet installed the Adobe software that will be using most of the data in the user folder.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Open a folder of files in details format.By default there are columns headed Name, Date modified, Type, Size etc. Other details may be added by right clicking on the bar. In Windows7 at the bottom of the screen there are details of the file you may have just highlighted. There is an option to add text to a 'note' or 'description'. I tried this but window comes up saying 'error occurred , try again.I can add a column called 'description' to the folder contents but how can I insert text? Also there are dozens of headings listed that I can add to the folder but not sure how to apply them.

Hello people, I?m trying to customize my folders so I can organize them a little better.

This is what I want to do. I?m currently on a medical residency where we are a lot of residents and all of us have different cases, and our boss ask us to organize all our cases in folders on a external hard drive, they have to be folders because each case has photos, information?s, videos, etc. but it?s not as simple as that he want me to make an option so I can sort them by author(physician), name (patient), disease, so if he wants to see all my patients he can do it with one click, or all the patients with the same diagnostic. So I?m trying only naming the folders with the patients name's and on the details of the folder insert the physician and the disease.
So is there a way that I can do that using windows or I will have to use another program.
The reason I don?t want to use a program it?s because we use it on different computers and if I use a program I will have to install it on every computer we use.

so if anyone has any idea how to do this, help will be really appreciate

Answer:help changing folder details

Hello Luis, welcome to the Seven Forums.

I would do this with Saved Searches.

Save all patient information as you had planned, each patient having own folder with all relevant information. Name each main (patient) folder using sort options you need to use as for instance John Doe - Dr. Kildare - Stroke (patient - doctor - diagnosis).

Now create Saved Search links. To search all stroke patients, open the folder containing all patient folders and type
type:folder filename:stroke to search field. When search is done, click Save Search:

Now you you have a link to all folders of stroke patients:

Do the same with all sort criteria you need to. Saved searches appear on the left pane of Explorer window, on top under the title Favorites.

The same thing happens for example..... I like to see file extensions but it changes by itself ,it is strange that sometime it will keep my changes for a time but it will always go back to default. I have also gone back to the factory setting 3 times thinking I did something wrong cuz one time I couldn't get the preview pane (pain) or the navigation pane to remove. The only thing Im using at the moment that didn't come with the system is the Classic Shell Win8. Is there a way I can set the folder Details view for Pictures WITHOUT changing the Video details view.
I want the length of my movies but not the length of my pictures and the diamensions of my pictures but not the diamensions of the movies etc.

Answer:Folder details view setting

Pictures and videos are generally uploaded to different folders, so the settings in each of the folders should be independent from the other. But if, for some reason, you have your pictures + videos in the same folder, I think the only way you could do that would be a work-around --- to manually transfer all of your pictures or videos to a separate folder. That way, in each of the folders, by right-clicking on the settings options and selecting 'More' at the bottom of the list, you have several hundred specific options to choose from and select.

right now, if i click the customize button and choose "music" for my music folders, it shows 'name', '#', 'title', 'contributing artists', and 'album' as sortable columns.

i was hoping there was a way to customize which columns would appear by default in music folders, rather than having to right click the top bar and add different elements like 'comments' or 'genre' to each individual folder. (i'm a ocd music sorter, so each artist has it's own folder. it would be beyond tedious to add genre and comments to each folder, only to have those elements disappear when the folder is returned to default status)

any ideas?

Answer:Customizing Music Folder Details

First set the current folder to optimize for Music (Use the Music Template):
Right Click Folder > Properties > Customize > Choose "Music" from dropdown list

Now set the settings in the folder (view options, etc)

Now we'll apply those settings to all folder that use the Music Template:
Organize > Folder & Search Options > View > Apply to All Folders

Now if you have a music folder you just need to go to Properties > Customize > Music in order to it to display the way you like.

I want to set all my folder views to List and have set it to be so from folder options several times but it keeps reverting to Details.

Is this a bug? Anyone else experiencing this?

And either way is there a master setting somewhere (like default programs) where I can change this?

Answer:Folder view always reverts to 'details'

Hello Tom,

If you like, you can use the tutorial below to set the folder template of all folders to "General Items", set to show in "List" view, then "Apply to Folders" to set this for all folders.

Not sure if my thread subject makes much sense, but...

In Windows Explorer (Windows 7), when you right click in the column headers you have the option of adding columns under "More...". I use this occasionally, but hate that this list has dozens of items that I have zero use for. I'm not sure if some software I installed modified this list, if it's standard, or what, but I'd like to trim it. A lot.

I see stuff like:

35mm focal length
Anniversary
Assistant's name
Assistant's phone
Auto summary
Birthday
Children
Flag color
Pager
Webpage
Word count

That's just a very small fraction of the things in that list. It's ridiculous.

This is by far the most difficult issue to explain what I see. Whenever I point to some files in Windows Explorer or similar program a yellow "sticky note" displays with either the filename or occasionally a summary of the details of the file such as Date Modified, Size etc. I find it really annoying since it covers up an area such as other files etc.

I have tried "Disable Notification Area Balloon Tips in Windows XP" and "EnableBalloonTips" registry entry is already set to '0' plus I even recreated and still no go...still appears. Does not appear on every file but once in a while it will happen/

Attached is a basic sample where I pointed to a jpg.....

Any help to remove this pop is very much appreciated.

"c:\folder\sub folder\sub sub"

it makes things much easier to navigate.

Windows 7 now calls the useful style "Folder path". Right-click in the header row, choose "More", and choose "Folder path".

I would like to find one person who thinks the current "Folder" style used in Win7 is useful. It's totally stupid. Or to put it in a way a Win 7 programmer apparently likes: stupid (It's totally).

I can't believe no one provided an answer to your question in nine months. This problem was killing me, so after an hour of searches without finding the answer, and then finding the answer by myself, I thought I'd add this for others who find this through a google search.

I have found every change in Win7 to be a hindrance to my work.

Answer:Details tab missing in properties!

You may want to carry out a virus scan, for which Malwarebytes is eminently suitable: Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

Your user account may be corrupted so you could try creating a new account to see whether that has the same problem.

The Links details on my IE7 Toolbar have suddenly gone missing. The word Links is still on the left hand side of the space for the toolbar but it is completely inactive when I click on it or anywhere else in the bar area. Neither can I drag URLs to this area. Under Tools the Link option is ticked & Lock the Toolbars is unticked. Does anyone have any ideas on how this has happened & how it can be rectified?

Answer:Link details missing

If Lock Toolbars isn't ticked then you should have a faint vertical line to the left of the word Links. If you hover your cursor over this it should change to a double headed arrow and you should then be able to drag the links area out or move it onto another toolbar.

I am mising the icon "Make New Folder" in Vista's Explorer.
I know there are other possibilities creating a new folder (e.g. Organize, Make New Folder button).

I would appreciate if someone knows a trick how to add the icon "make new folder" to the Explorer.

Thank you!

If you mean when you right click and click on New that there is no Folder option, then this tutorial will show you how to restore it.

There's something about Windows that has always puzzled me. Let's say you have a directory in which there are some additional directories (folders) and some standalone files. When in that directory you select details for your viewing mode. Right click on a standalone file, select properties and you'll see the file size. Do the same for a folder and you'll see the folder size. This tells you that the information about the size of the file or folder is present. Yet when you select view details, the size of the standalone files is displayed but the size of the folders is not displayed.

The only reason I can imagine Microsoft does this is because they make a bunch of money when people like me get so annoyed with this that we buy software such as folder size (which I use). But I didn't pay one dime for the folder size software, as I got it free from a third party vendor. So the reason can't be because they make a bunch of money selling the folder size software.

Can anyone explain why Microsoft doesn't display the folder size?

Answer:Why is folder size not displayed when viewing in the details mode?

Because it would slow your system down. The sizes of individual folders aren't recorded anywhere on your hard drive; therefore, the size of each file in a folder must be added-up every time you want to know the size of that folder. This process can eat up a lot of resources if you're dealing with large folders. Someone at Microsoft probably just said "It's not worth the trouble!". It's not a conspiracy by the Illuminati.
