Oh the irony - Google Chrome won't load Google Search

Question: Oh the irony - Google Chrome won't load Google Search

Frequently, not always, my up-to-date copy of Google Chrome fails to load Google Search. Particularly if I use the search/address bar, but even if I enter google.com. Other google sites load. In fact, when this happens, I just use the search web box in Gmail. Other sites have no problem loading and the computer is running fine. Other browsers (ie, firefox) never have a problem loading google.

Any ideas why this is happening? I ran through the malware removal guide months ago, but I'm going to do it again. I searched the boards and google and didn't find anything about this specific and weird problem.

Preferred Solution: Oh the irony - Google Chrome won't load Google Search

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Oh the irony - Google Chrome won't load Google Search

The only time I have ever had a problem getting the Chrome browser to load Google.com (both via address bar and bookmark) is when I'm on the Fedora Linux box. I just chalk it up to another one of the bajillion things that doesn't work right in Lamux. You get what you pay for. Were you, too, running Linux when you had this problem?

Hi, I had some malware on my PC a couple of days ago. I believed I successfully removed it, however I'm getting reccuring issues.

-Google Chrome won't load any HTML files. From the web or locally saved.
-In IE and Firefox, Google Searches will redirect to ads/other sites.
-I'm getting sporatic pop-ups.

I've run many antispyware software software and it's all coming up clean :-/ I'm stuck.

Anyone want to give a hand?

Hi! I am a heavy google search user who frequently uses google to: define ___, calculate equations etc.

But recently my google search results is changed to:

The top bar still appears perfectly normal when I am not in the search result page:

If it is related, bing has problem as well - it goes black screen:

The characteristics are:
One page itself:
- Words appear bigger
- It seems like I've log out but I am actually still logged in
- Google tips and tricks such as define, tilt etc all are not working
- Clicking "more" and "search tools" refresh the page and does nothing.
Others:
- In other places such as email, youtube, the functionality remains completely normal and unaffected
- I do not think the problem is related to the external internet settings as other devices are able to access these functions/websites without any problem.
- I have no problem accessing any other webpages.

Solutions tried and still not working:
- Completely reset google chrome's setting
- Reinstalling google chrome
- Resetting internet explorer setting
- Resetting computer's ip setting through cmd- netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
- Full scan with avast antivirus.

Any other ideas please? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated as these tips and tricks are a truly useful function for me.

I too have the exact same problem. i have tried hard for a month+ on 100s of sites with no avail. this probably is some super smart form of malware/virus which changes your IE's lan proxy settings to "127.0.0.1:8080.proxy.pac", this seems to affect chome and IE while firefox looks ok. the only "visible" difference is with the google main page as you described you'll also notice that at the bottom of the page, the number of page results are limited to 10 and no more, you just cant see more results than that. I couldnt find any any solid fix to this (not even complete reformat) The only temporary solution(till next reboot) seems to be to go to internet options in IE - connections tab - deselect that proxy setting and select automatically detect settings though i personally use hola better internet extension which seems to fix the problem till its kept on. I want this dreaded issue to get some attention so that am actual solution is found :/

Hello to all,
I have installed google chrome and I really like it. However it has one major drawback. It remembers what I have typed in google search bar.
How can I disable this?
I have uncheck every option in "under the hood" settings, but that is not it.
These search items disappear only when I do clear browsing data. But on the second use when I want to type something in google search item filed or just click on it everything that I searched in the previous session (if not cleared explicitly) is shown in form of drop down list.
Internet explorer and firefox allowed me to turn this auto completion whenI wanted.
Is it really that difficult in chrome?

Thanks

Answer:Google chrome remembers what I typed in google search engine

I think you can only block the search history in Chrome by using private mode.

Wrench icon > New Incognito Window.

This will prevent any searches, downloads and websites appearing in your history, and will delete all cookies when you close the window.

I'm sure that there are several threads like this, unfortunately the solutions I've attempted haven't been very useful for me. As of late I've been suffering from a google redirect virus. It hasn't actually been harmful at all. My computer still runs at optimal speeds and I still have phenomenal internet connection speeds.

The issue lies with both Google Chrome (I loved it until now...) and Firefox (second best browser). Whenever I try to perform a google search in either browser I'll get the desired results list. However when I click a link it redirects me to another site. When I flush the DNS or clear my browsing history it works fine temporarily, but then moments later it starts redirecting again. I've ran Piriforms CCleaner to remove cookies, I've ran CCleaner's registry fixer, I've also performed several scans on my computer both normally and with Windows in safe mode using Webroot Internet Security Essentials 7.0 and I'm still having issues. I'd like to be able to fix this so that I can stop using IE 8 x64 (beta) and my iPod for browsing the web now and get back to Chrome.

Don't know if this info helps but I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Google has added speech recognition into search on desktop for Chrome users. If you?re using Chrome, you?ll start to see a little microphone in every Google search box. Simply click the microphone, and you can speak your search. This can be particularly useful for hard-to-spell searches or complex searches. Voice Search on desktop is rolling out now on google.com in English.
I tested the image search - and it worked Official Google Blog: Knocking down barriers to knowledge

Hi, tried to solve this on my own for several days with not much success.

Running Windows XP SP3.

The problem started with Google Chrome, it stopped working one evening. The browser is stuck on an infinite loading loop but works when the "--no-sandbox" argument is added to the command line. Internet explorer worked fine. I did some googling on the problem and apparently it's either some anti-virus or a virus.

Switched to Opera browser. Got infected with ave.exe "xp total security". Ran Super Anti-Spyware/Malware Bytes/AVG 9 to remove. Seemed to be removed but I'm still getting google search redirects in Opera.

Downloaded and ran TDSSKiller. In safe mode, it detects nothing. In standard mode it detects a problem with Atapi.sys. The message is something like.

"Problems in memory 1/0/0
"Problems in files 1/0/1"

However, after every reboot, it's the same message.

Downloaded Gmer today and tried to run, in standard mode Gmer would crash with a BSOD, the BSOD flashed quickly so I'm unable to see what the exception was. Currently I'm running Gmer in safe mode.

Could use some help.

Thanks.

I've tried multiple anti-everything programs from Super Anti-Spyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix, Spybot S&D, and various online scans that have found nothing, or found something but never fully cleaned my system. For a week or two, Google was being redirected to various ad sites, but after my system was "cleaned" everything was fine. Now today, anything remotely related to Google won't load at all. I've tried to manually remove the TDSS google-redirecting virus, but I have none of the files that supposedly come along with the virus.

SpyBot is outdated program, so uninstall it also.

Hello,

Whenever I search for things using Google, I sometimes end up getting redirected to random websites which have nothing to do with what I have searched. Update: It just happened with IE, so it's not just Chrome as it first appeared.

For example, I searched for some help about a problem I was having with Ableton Live (turned out to be PEBKAC, so it's unrelated) and I ended up getting "madwebplus(dot)com/search(dot)php" and "insideps2games(dot)com/search(dot)php" and when I tried to get here I got "badcredit-creditcards(dot)net/result(dot)php?Keywords=tech+support+guy&r=db8752b12af8e4f24b3549ad566de91dc8f1b5f7e6e246a4632487d1571c7e4cd5fdd271755d148d1ba39491f099a988&Submit=Go"

It's only started happening today, and as far as I can remember I didn't download anything before it started happening. All I have downloaded is Zonealarm, Spybot S&D and HijackThis and they were downloaded after to try to fix the problem.

Spybot Search and Destroy found nothing, and AVG Free found 2 things and fixed them, but the redirects are still happening.

Here's what AVG found, just in case it's relevant.
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe (2460)";"Trojan horse Generic16.AGNN";"Reboot is required to finish the action" (I did reboot)

I've been using Google Chrome for a few days now, and overall I'm happy with it.
I've got all my bookmarks from IE8, but one thing I'm missing is a Google search box in the bar at the top of the screen. With IE8 I had Google Search as my home page, and I also had a Google search box at the top right of my screen. How can I get that with Chrome, please? At the moment if I want to Google something I have to open a new tab, or click on the "Home" symbol, and then click on Google Search. Not a show-stopper, but not quite as simple as my previous system.

Answer:How to get a Google search box in Google Chrome?

From Google.
In Google Chrome, the address bar doubles as your search box, so you don't need a second search box. Like the Toolbar search box, the address bar provides suggestions based on popular Google searches, spelling corrections, and your own browsing history and bookmarks.

I don't know what is wrong with my computer but I can not search Google using my Google search toolbar or even load http://www.google.com. The error I get is:

Connection Interrupted

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
Also, no Google Pagerank shows for any pages I go to.

I'm on Windows XP, I tried on FF and IE and neither will let me search Google. I have not changed any settings on my computer and it worked fine before.

Also, this is my laptop and I've tried it at home and at another location (different ISPs) and neither will work.

Any ideas?

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

I have almost exactly the same problem running on my computer. I have run zoek, malwarebytes, and AdwCleaner and I still have the problem. Rather than create a new post in the forum I have just replied to this post since it seems so similar. I have now run Farbar and have attached the two logs. I also included a pic of my task manager showing the processes that keep loading. Can you help me? Thank you!

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Problem started last night. I didn't install any new programs, I tried to install a fresh copy. It only works if I delete all my browsing history and it will only work for short period of time. Incognito mode also works

Answer:Google Chrome doesn't load

You might try installing Chromium portable (win32 zip file) to a separate folder. If you set up bookmark sync you may be able to get your bookmarks.

I find it less troublesome than "installed" versions of chrome/chromium.

Index of /f/chromium/snapshots/Win

I recommend choosing one with a small change log.

I'm running Build 98397.
It's quite stable.

It sounds as if it is corrupt. Go to Control Panel, Programs and uninstall Google Chrome then download and re-install. If you do the basic uninstall you will not lose your Favourites etc.

Hello all. You have setup and participate in such a great forum! I thank you in advance for your work to help computer users everywhere, and for any assistance you can provide for me.I am having problems with my google chrome. What is actually happening is very similar to what is happing to danL21 (work on his problem in this thread). Google chrome opens and the interface seems to be working fine, but no pages will load. They just keep trying to load, never get past the "untitled" stage, and the Google page killer pops up and asks if I want to kill the unresponsive page or wait. Nothing happens for either option. My problem differs from danL21's in that Firefox and IE work fine, with no strange tab additions. I use AVG and had version 8 installed when the problem started. I updated to version 9 hoping to catch the problem and also downloaded Spybot S&D, and used trend online virus scan. A few spyware issues were found and quickly taken care of, and have not returned. I did some research online at the Google Chrome forums, and a few google people have said that if your AV is not showing any issues, your AV and/or Windows firewall may have stopped allowing chrome to get through. A quick test using googles "no-sandbox" tag allows the browser to work. I only visited google.com and nwc.noaa.gov with the no -sandbox tag to see if it worked, then quickly removed. Their suggestions to others who had tested this was that it was the firewall, so open it up and allow g... Read more

I'm using Windows XP fully updated, and I started using Chrome some months ago because of issues with IE7. Recently Chrome has been updated, and now displays on its Google home screen eight large thumbnails of sites I've recently visited. At the same time its initial loading has slowed down significantly, and it even locks up if I try to start using it before it's finished loading fully.
I've looked at the settings to try and find a way to disable the thumbnails, in the hope that this will speed up the loading, but can't find anything. In fact, I realise now that I don't even need to use the Google Search screen as my home page because Chrome's address bar doubles as a Google search bar. So how can I achieve a blank home page, so it doesn't waste time loading history?

Answer:Google Chrome now very slow to load

Yes, that's my version Jock1e.
Thinking about it a bit more, I have two choices but can't find either one in the setup menus: One is to change my Chrome home page to something other than Google -- perhaps even a blank page; the other is to configure the Google page so that it doesn't show the recent history thumbnails. That's on the assumption that it's the thumbnails that are slowing things down.

Answer:Google Chrome will not load pages

If it's the free version of Emisoft then try uninstalling it then reboot and try the browser again. If Chrome works then either try Emisoft again, to see if the same problem arises, and if it does then it will be your choice whether to keep it or not.

If you are referring to the shadow effect in the Chrome search bar, then there is nothing wrong. Google is actively testing a new design for Google Search, and they have the habit of showing different layouts to users to see which one they like more.

Does anyone know if it's possible to add a search bar or box to Chrome?

I found a solution! Download the Chrome Sidebar. On there is a small search window. Searching in there will open a new tab automatically. Of course, if you don't like a Sidebar then the original question remains unsolved!

Hello,

I'm trying to repair my parents computer. They were getting Trojan horse warning messages and crashing to blue screens. So far I have updated the BIOS and uninstalled all the browser addons and questionable apps I found on there PC. Since updating the BIOS it hasn't crashed to blue screen. However I'm getting a lot of lywqyjla.exe processes that say they belong to Google Chrome. I uninstalled Google Chrome and they are still there. Each of them is using varying amounts of memory and the CPU usage keeps spiking. I have run malware bytes and adw cleaner, each of them said they found and removed threats but these processes keep showing up.

When I open Google Chrome, the browser does not load any pages, settings, or other menu items. For example, when I click on Settings, it just opens a new tab with the address bar reading "chrome://settings/", and the page is grey and nothing shows up.If I try entering a website, nothing loads in the browser. In addition, there are always new extensions being installed as well: WhiteSmokeNew, HDVidCodec, WebExp Enhanced, GoPhoto.it.Also, when I open Chrome, Microsoft Security Essentials pops open a notification, saying that there is a potential threat on my PC. After I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 Pro, Google Chrome just won't load any webpage.   Chrome Version 30.0.1599.101 m.
Can be test this site as an example: http://frasesstatus.com.br/
So I tried to reinstalled Chrome, then it seems start to load some websites like Youtube and Facebook. BUT, none of youtube videos load, and chat sidebar on Facebook is offline all the time. Other major websites still remain unloadable. Safari works fine so far. I don't have Firefox.
I know that some people actually have similar problems months ago with 8.1 Preview version. I thought this problem is temporary since it was beta version. Now, I'm really disappointed.

Hello, thank you for reading For about 5 days now I have not been able to get to facebook at all. It keeps saying:

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.

I have tried the advice listed and also scoured many other forums and tried that advice as well. Im using windows 7 and the latest google chrome. My computer is only a few months old and I have up to date norton 360. i am NOT using a proxy. I have cleared my browsing data and cookies several times. I have turned off all my extensions one by one to no avail. several computer restarts.....Tried to use internet explorer... Read more

I use google chrome as my main web browser, but after an attack which I don't really know how to describe it an antivirus screen popped up and just started trying to clean my computer. I had not clicked on anything except was just watching tv. I restarted my computer and tried to launch chrome and the error message i got was: This webpage is not available. I get this with every website I try to load, i mean everything. So then I tried to use firefox and firefox worked but the problem is that it freezes every 5 seconds for about 5 seconds and then just keeps repeating the vicious cycle. I already ran a malawarebytes scan and it removed a few things but the problem is still there. I can provide a hijackthis report if need be. I just appreciate any help possible.Thank you

Hello,
Every time I start Google Chrome (not a new tab), my CPU spikes to 100% load for ~3 seconds. I have a 4790k on Windows 8.1 (current build here). I have done a fresh uninstall/reinstall of Chrome (including browsing data) with no change. I have run CCleaner and scanned with MalwareBytes/Avast with no issues. I do NOT have this problem with any other browser. This problem started a week ago and I can't point to any event that might have caused this (windows update, visiting a sketchy site, etc). Any insight as to what might be causing this?

I cannot Google search w/ Chrome (I get Google's "unusual Traffic from your computer network" webpage) and get Captcha prompts periodically with Bing. I can do both without complaint in IE9. I have scanned my HP laptop with Norton's, tdsskiller, Avast! and AdWCleaner with no findings. I have a Hijackthis report ready, if you want it posted on the other forum. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome. Norton quarantined something on Wednesday but I've had the problem for 2 or three weeks, it scans regularly and the problem remains. When running HijackThis, I could not use the "Analyze" option. HijackThis complained that I had no internet connection, which was untrue.

We regularly stream video on the laptop and I've seen no degradation of performance. I did have one experience a couple of weeks ago when I noticed the laptop was noisy - fan or drive, not sure - and it continued so I rebooted and that ended. Yesterday, my screen went blank and pretty quickly an Nvidia message came up saying it was repairing and the video was fine after that.

....OK, this is bizarre.... It will let me search now. It wouldn't let me search for weeks until sometime in the last hour, which would be after I started reading the forums for clues. I verified my LiveScans on Norton did not report anything today. Could a malware be that savvy? Are you guys really that good? ;-)

I am going to continue with the post because I'm concerned the laptop is still infect... Read more

every time i search for an item in chrome, when i click on the shopping tab it shows everything in foreign currency and websites ---- HELP PLEASE

Answer:google chrome shopping search

1. What currency is the shopping tab showing in right now and what currency should it be?
2. When you go to google.com, where does it take you? Does it take you to simply google.com or does it take you to a "foreign" google? For instance, if you were in China, it would be google.com.hk. If you were in India, it would be google.co.in

With the above 2 questions, I'm trying to figure out if it's a location issue, meaning that google is thinking you are in a different country than you really are. If you are currently in a different country than where you primarily live, please let me know.

One thing you can try is disabling any extensions within Google Chrome to ensure they aren't the issue:
1. Within Chrome, select the 3 dots (in a vertical line) in the top right hand corner
2. Select More Tools
3. Select Extensions
4. Please take note of which extensions are enabled
5. Uncheck Enabled for all extensions
6. Close Chrome, reopen it, and check if the problem still exists
7. If it does, go back and enable all the extensions that were previously enabled, since these aren't the issue
8. If the issue goes away, enable each extension one by one. First enabling the extension, closing Chrome, reopening, and checking if the problem still exists. Whenever it occurs, you know which extension is the issue.

I use Google Chrome as my search engine.
I downloaded the program and have been using it since I got this computer about 5 weeks ago.

I had a shortcut on my desktop and one on my taskbar at the bottom.
I also had an app in my charm bar in the windows window in the bottom left or whatever the popup is being called now...

A couple of days ago the Chrome shortcut went from the familiar Google colors to a white, blank sheet of paper in the taskbar. I tried to reload it but I keep getting a message about an error code.

I tried to open the program from the programs file and create a shortcut for the desktop but I get the same error code.

I can still search with google using the blank piece of paper looking icon in the taskbar and I get google when I cut on the computer. But I want the shortcut and the familiar looking google colors back.

I was going to delete the program and reload it but I don't want to lose all the bookmarks I have already loaded.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Answer:Google Chrome Shortcut in Desktop/Taskbar won't load

You can export your bookmarks or use Google account to upload your bookmarks online, so they will be restored along with extensions, once you login into reinstalled Chrome, it is good to have a backup anyway.

My Google Chrome browser is taking FOREVER to load under my Windows Xp OS.

I tested Mozilla and it works just fine.

For Google Chrome I did the following but it did not help:

Follow these steps to change your proxy setting (for Windows):
Click the Tools menu.
Select Options.
Click the Under the Hood tab.
In the "Network" section, click Change proxy settings. This will open the Internet Properties dialog.
Click LAN settings .
Deselect the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox.

Anyone have any other ideas?

My good ol' dad can't login to Gmail this morning ... here's what I (think I) know about what we've done to the system since last successful email login:

Loaded VLC Vista in my Dad's XP Pro laptop a couple of days ago, as suggested in Software Forum; test runs were fine. Sat down last night with Dad for first major "viewing" -- 2 errors messages, both saying VLC had crashed. Tried reloading disc a couple of times. Disc eventually loaded, but no sound. Another trial, same results. Checked system and VLC sound settings, all at or near maximum volume (Dad is hard of hearing).

Rebooted system (XP Professional), reloaded disc. and VLC operated normally, though a bit slow to open. Left system on overnight, but did not access email/Google Chrome.

This morning, a new development when we did; do not know if it is related. :confused Normally, Dad double-clicks Google Chrome, and goes right into the inbox of his Gmail acct. This morning, he is back at the sign-in screen, which he says he has never seen (we do have a tech who automated a bunch of stuff, but I don't know what he might have done here), and the password taped over the desk isn't working, nor is the message function going through to the cell phone from google to reset the password. And Dad ... is hollering for me and pointing at the dvd of Big Bang Theory.

Yikes. Any ideas? FYI, Dad does not have Admin rights, by design, in case this is impacting functionality/caus... Read more

I use google chrome. I stream youtube and many other sites. The thing is i stream a lot of videos at once. Example let say for youtube, i want to stream 5 videos.. i see one video then right click, open in new window... unless i click on that tab... it doesn't load at all. So imagine i do this with 5 youtube links. Is there a reason it doesn't load them all at once? It requires me to go on a chrome tab... wait a bit till it loads... then i pause it so i go to another tab to stream the other tab etc for a total of 5 tabs. I recalled a while back... youtube was not like this. I could right click open a ton of tabs in new window each and they all load at once? So if i did that with 5 youtube videos... you hear lot of noise because 5 different youtube videos are loading. Is there a reason for this? Did youtube change the settings with this?

The other thing is many other sites besides youtube... i stream. This is a bit different issue but very similar. Imagine a site that i open a video. I have to press play in order for it to stream the video. Then i do this with every other tab for this website. Make it simple and say its 3 videos. So i have to click play on each one... then it takes a while to load the entire video whether its 1 minute or 25 minutes etc. The issue that when i wait for the video to be done streaming before i click play... i usually wait till it fully streams so i could watch from beginning to end though many times but many times i don't d... I am a user of Firefox and have been for many years, but now that Mozilla have engaged in a version race to infinity and the Google toolbar plus several add-ons and possibly other auxiliary programs do not work, I am considering moving over to Chrome.

I use Windows XP 2002 Home with SP3, AVG2012 and ZA firewall.

I am currently giving Chrome a good trial run, but again the Google toolbar,KeyScrambler and NoScript are not supported. As I use Sandboxie and have no personal finance details on my computer, the loss of these otherwise useful programs does not matter too much. Nothing will get onto my computer and knowing my key strokes is of little value. NoScript ? No great loss regarding security in my case.

Question ?

I find that Chrome takes an age to load the Google Home Page and so do many other users on the web. Much slower than Firefox. Seems to be something to do with loading the Cache, I get a message saying "Waiting for Cache" and a time-out panel saying "Kill or Wait". Timing it results in 60-70 seconds from clicking the desktop icon to being fully loaded. Once loaded, all is OK. Firefox takes 35 seconds. I am finding Chrome with extensions and my selected settings a very attractive alternative to Firefox..

Is there anything that can be done about this ?

Answer:Chrome slow to load Google Home Page

Just an update.

I have found that adjusting the Chrome settings has made a big improvement.
Wrench>Options>Under the Hood>Privacy. Uncheck item 3 and/or item 2. I am currently running with items 2 & 3 unchecked.
The load time is now 5-10 seconds - it does vary a little, but is mostly 5 seconds. this is without Sandboxie.
With Sandboxie, the load time is 12-20 seconds. Infinitely better than before, so in the absence of another solution, there it stays. I can live with that.

Here is a screen shot :-

Hey guys,

My computer has been acting so weird recently. We just purchased them at work this year. It is an Asus computer with Windows 8.1.

1) Limited Connectivity: The other computers in the office connect to the internet fine. My computer will work fine and then just drop it's connection. I have done ipconfig /release, etc. but it won't work. I literally have to restart my computer.

2) Freezing: My computer will just act slow out of no where. I only have Google Chrome and Quickbooks up at work. That's it.

I know this information probably sucks, but I hope it is enough for some help? I ran malwarebytes and it came up with nothing.

Looking forward to hearing your reply.

Answer:Limited Connectivity / Google Chrome won't load / Freezing

HI

I have to ask is this connection Wifi or LAN?

Have you checked for an update at ASUS for the WiFi/Ethernet driver and install that to test. Also do other PCs close to you work ok all of the time? If Wifi only thinking of my works free public wifi that will limited connection and loose connection when too many users online.

Have you run the PC in safe mode with networking to test its not a startup app like 3rd party security, as in firewall or antivirus/malware?

If Google Chrome will not load try IE out to test.

Also give this a go HERE

Lately, whenever i want to visit any web page, the browsers won't load it properly. On google chrome it said that sometimes "unable to connect to internet", and whenever it is loaded it loads jumbled on the first few times. After refreshing or reloading the slow page several times, it loads properly but still slow.

I did some reading here beforehand, and i ran CCleaner and cleaned the cache and all, but nothing worked. I thought it was my Avast! but when i turned it off it doesn't have any effects at all. I know this is not my connection's fault because when i try loading some pages in another devices like my tablet or phone with my wi-fi it worked just fine. Been like this for like a month or so.
Any thoughts?
Any response is appreciated.

Answer:Google Chrome & other Browsers won't load properly/slowly

Hello and welcome Timot I cannot find the support page for that machine you have listed - not being funny but that is the correct model??
To me it sounds like either a driver or system error. I have these from time to time and have used fixes like rebooting the modem checking the network drver Ethernet or wifi but the first oen I go for is this and it is so simple and sually works

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html < do first but the next one chkdsk is the usual fixer for me

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < use the /f and /r options in Option2 if necessary

I shall be interested in what you find as I am about to get the G750JM ROG

I'm trying to load search sites but none of them load and websites load really slow. I'm thinking I have spyware or malware of some kind so I'm scanning for that.

But if I don't find anything, does anyone know what it could be?

Clearing my K9 Web Protection logs speeded up my internet a little but no search site loads.

Edit:

Spybot: S&D didn't find anything.

Running Ad-Aware tommorow.

Edit Edit:

Seems that google now, although image search is a bit funny and slow. I think the problem is K9 Web-Protection.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
Notes:
If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

This has been going on for a few days and it's getting really weird. I suspect some sort of virus/malware/etc, but I'm not having any luck, and I'm really not even sure if it's that.

A few days ago I went to search for something in the google search bar, and got a page saying that the connection to the server had been reset while the page was loading. This is in Firefox 12. Reloading didn't help, so I tried to type in google.com in the actual address bar - and got the same message. I don't have any problems with any other search sites, or any general sites. The even weirder thing is that I don't have a problem with any other google pages. I can still use my gmail, my reader - if I use the bar across the top of a google page, I can get everything else to load - even the image search and google maps, just not the actual google search page. The other computers in the house on the same network can access the page fine. It won't load in Firefox, Chrome, or IE.

Most of the searching I have done suggests it's some virus/malware/etc, but after running avast, adware, malwarebytes, and two things for specific programs, while they came up with a few things, the problem isn't fixed.

It gets weirder, because every time I restart my computer and start firefox, I type in a search and the google search page pops up! I think it's fixed, go about my business, and ten minutes later do another search - only this time it won't load, ... Read more

Seems as if I'm another internet browser "redirection" victim...I ran MBAM yesterday and thought that my issue had been resolved; however, I ran into some additional redirects today (unfortunately). After much research, I've decided it would most likely be best if I posted my Hijackthis results and get some personalized help.

Answer:Google Search Links Being Redirected - IE & Chrome

Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.For a while now my Google search results have been hijacked. Results look normal, when you click you go somewhere else, usually with a couple of redirects and ending up literally anywhere, usually a snidy site but sometimes a respectable site liek Ebay. The problem happens most of the time but about one in five results works normally. Even if you keep clicking on the same result eventually it works. If I clear cookies it seems to fix it briefly but after a while it comes back.If I disable cookies it seems to fix it for longer but eventually it comes back.Every spyware (spybot, ad-aware, super anti spywar) I use seems to finds stuff on every scan, I remove them reboot rescan and still some results. So I tried safe mode and get a blue screen every time.At this stage FF had no problems, I uninstalled Chrome thinking that scans might be more succesful with it uninstalled and then I could reinstall it. Within an hour results were hijacked in FF.BelowI paste the pseudo HJT log, I will attach the "attach.txt" file and the two files from root repeal (one opened up in a file at the end of the scan the wone with the long file name, the other is what was in the application window when it said save scan results").I hope I have done this right - let me know if I need to give you any more details.THANK YOU!DDS (Ver_09-12-01.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Lee Holden at 19:28:31.40 on 11/01/2010Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.187...
