I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,
You should slipstream the drivers into an XP install disk with Nlite. After the OS install you should then install the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility

I'm trying to install XP on a new Fujitsu SATA hard drive (39T2785 R) in a Lenovo laptop (supplied with Vista on the original drive) and no diskette drive. The problem is that the only thing I can find for drivers is ONTRACK's Disk Manager...which creates a bootable floppy disk. I suspect the drivers are included in the .BIN file on the diskette, but I can't get to them.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

It might be that your version of windows doesn't have the correct drivers to work with the hdd? Why are you down grading to xp anyways? Is it running poorly on that machine?

Hi mates,

I just installed a clean os of windows 7 and it seems that the installation is unable to identify the drivers... as you can see in the picture...

does any one have Fujitsu win7 to give me a feedback on this and what drivers software I need to install??

Thanks,

Answer:Fujitsu drivers missing

Without knowing your system specs it's difficult to recommend which drivers your machine needs. At the top of every Forum page is a link for "User CP". Click on that and in the left column you'll see another link to "Edit System Spec".

In the meantime you may be able to use the Fujitsu "drivers and downloads" page to find your missing drivers.

The software is quite old now, so my query is do we need to update the version of software or is there MIB like file for this switch we need to import before hand. If the software needs to be updated, does anyone know of a chart to compare which switch models are compatible with which version of update. Any information would be helpful.

Hi guys, This is my first post on the forum, so here goes.I have an Epson WF 2530 printer which I bought new from Tesco's around 18 months ago and up to now it has done everything that it's been asked to do, untill today. When I want to print a document it just rolls out a blank sheet and an error report on the lcd display says " Paper out. Load paper and press OK " even though there is ample paper present. Just to rule it out, I have taken the printhead out, cleaned and replaced it as well as replaced the ink  cartridgesAnother furum I viewed says that it is a fault with the paper sensor however I've no idea where to locate it.Any suggestions would be welcome.      Thanks         Hamer.

I am working with a client who has a Kyocera KM-2530 and wants to use it to scan to PCs on their network. They bought it from www.leaderbusiness.com . Answer:Kyocera 2530 scanning to network pcs?

we have a Lanier 2135 (i belive) that does network scanning.

Basically, you set up the scanner/printer/copier/coffee maker/jukebox on the network.

Then install the management software on a computer that will never be turned off (server), then the software should be able to find the scanner via broadcast/responce, and establish the connection.

Then you should be able to assign a directory on the network where the management software will dump the processes scans.

Every time I try to print anything, my WF-2530 feeds a sheet through and reports paper out. The unit has seen little use and has never had a paper jam. I have carefully loaded only a few sheets of regular 20 lb paper and it does it every time. I have done the same with some Kodak photo paper for inkjet and gotten the same results. It simply does not detect that there is paper loaded.

I have tried resetting the unit, powering off then on, disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Nothing causes it to recognize that paper is loaded after it feeds the first sheet through. Press the 'OK' button and it will feed another sheet and continue to report 'paper out'.

I don't want to replace such a lightly used printer. If I can correct whatever is wrong with the paper sensor it would be a blessing. Help!

Ok, so I've got a Dell Dimension 2530 a client brought in the other day wanting a fresh install of XP Home Edition on there.

Having being an older system with no recovery partition and hanging on the windows screen more times than not I popped in my XP HOME OEM DVD.

FIRST FAIL - No DVD drive...wouldn't read my external DVD drive...Having plenty on hand I popped one in for his main ROM Drive.

Booted up into the DVD fine...DELETED his old partition and reformatted just fine.

SECOND FAIL - Wake up and the installation hung up right near the end before you enter a user name and your authentication of windows for the system.

Normally when something like this has happened to me I can reboot the PC and it will resume the installation. This time that was not the case it posts, then goes to a black screen with a white blinking underscore for about 40 seconds like its trying to access my DVD...then the screen goes blank completely. ALT f4 wouldn't work and it sat there for a period of time...SO option one...I did some things in BIOS so I restored it to default....to no avail...

This same thing happens to me when trying to boot to JUST the ROM drive.

I'm a tech by trade, but a beginning tech. Any help on this issue would be most appreciated.

Answer:Dell Dimension 2530 Completely STUMPED!

I would suggest testing the hard drive using the manufacturer diagnostics.

Having issues with RAID0 array being detected by Windows7 Ultimate x64 as SCSI. Apparently these drivers are the 'default' drivers that install when the RAID array is initialized. There is no option at this point to install other drivers instead.

Using DeviceManager, there is an option to 'update drivers', and regardless of the method chosen, even selecting the file for a previously-downloaded set of drivers, Windows7 always comes back with a message of "Windows has determined that the best drivers for your system are already installed". Considering that SCSI drivers are the OLDEST ones out there, and actual SCSI devices are becoming rarer and rarer, how is it that these drivers cannot be replaced with more current and more applicable drivers?

Does anyone know of a usable workaround to install non-SCSI drivers to replace the default ones?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Replacing SCSI storage drivers with IDE or SATA drivers

If this is for the motherboard listed in your specs, you need to install the AMD RAID driver,

May also want to install the chipset driver while you're at it if you haven't.

I am trying to upgrade my computer to Vista Business, but I only have about 42MB left of hard drive capacity. Does anybody knows what the difference is between 300GB 5400 RPM Universal SATA - 8MB and 300GB 7200 RPM Universal SATA -16MB. I aqppreciate your advise, and thank you in advance.

Answer:Wishing to upgrade hardrive of Think Pad 2530 - z60m, from 100MB to 300MB

The difference is the speed and buffer, the latter drive being faster and having twice the buffer and it will perform a lot better than the first one. Please be advised that you have to stay with 32-bit Vista on your Z60m, 64-bit will not install on it. Hope this helps.

Question: Need SATA drivers

Hi there,

I am trying to reinstall Windows XP on my husband's computer following an accidental download of a virus/spyware (can't be bothered trying to disinfect as I was going to do a reinstall soon anyway). I have an original XP disc (an old upgrade version with SP1, but I have a copy of 98 to validate it) and I want to format the C: partition and reinstall there. The hard drive also has two more partitions where data is stored. The drive is a Hitachi 500GB SATA.

My problem occurs shortly after inserting the Win98 disc as verification, when the WinXP installation indicates the partition to install to, which it's only showing as C: Partition1 [Unknown] and that the size is 131072 MB. The other two partitions on that disk are not showing up. I don't want to go ahead and format that, in case it affects the whole drive and not just the C: partition. In Computer Management the drive shows the three partitions and the correct size of each and the whole drive.

I subsequently realised that I need to install the SATA drivers when prompted during the file-copying phase of installation, but I do not know which drivers I need. I have read all about slipstreaming, but the computer does have a floppy drive so I am happy to do it that way, as long as I can find the correct drivers to use. I cannot find any original disk that I might have used when installing this drive a year or so ago, so I can't remember the exact procedure I followed! :-o

You do not need drivers for an IDE HDD but you may for a SATA. Which type of drive is it that you want to connect.IDE has the 80 pin data connector which connects to a wide ribbo cable.SATA has a very small 1cm'ish connection that is slightly L shaped.

Question: SATA DVD drivers

Hi there,

I've looked for 3 days now and i simply cannot find a solution to my problem!

I have a Acer PC with Vista HP and i would like to switch over to Vista Ultimate x64 (genuine license available!!).

I never had this problem before. The PC has SATA HDD's and a SATA DVD drive. When i enter the Setup, Windows is asking for the drivers. It cannot find my DVD drive! I've downloaded the sata drivers and put them on a USB stick. Windows cannoit find the drivers, when i browse for it.

Before i used to enter the BIOS and change the SATA mode, but that was for HDD's and XP installations.
However, i cant even find that option on the #%$W Acer motherboard.

Could someone please point me into the right direction? I would really appreciate it.
It's a Acer Aspire M3641.

Thanks in advance.

So, tell me, if Windows during the setup (which I assume you run from the DVD disc) cannot find your dvd drive, how where you able to even run the setup ?
OK, question was stupid, sorry, but I couldn't resist

All that you need the system has already in itself, you don't need any additional drivers to make your SATA DVD drive work. I have two DVD ReWriters on SATA and those were detected by the system (and setup) without any issues.

My advice is that you write down your current BIOS settings on paper or anywhere else, reset BIOS to the default values, and check again what happens when you try to install the system. If this won't change the situation than I'm out of ideas... at least for now

I have tried to install Windows 7 64 bit O/S and I get to the screen where I have to accept terms etc, put in time and date but when I get to the windows Instal page it cant find drivers so it cant locate the C drive to install.
I have tried every file on the mobo instal disk but none will be accepted.
I`ve tried copying the files to USB stick and load from there but still no luck.
In the bios it recognises both sata devices but seems like without W7 finding the drivers it wants I`m not getting anywhere. Even tried new drivers from Gigabyte site but still not recognised.
I`ve spoke to tech ay CCL where I got the components but they are at a loss>

Hey,
So a friend of mine bought an Asus laptop, to get to the point, he prefers XP and it comes with Vista and the only drivers available on the Asus site are Vista drivers. So, if you try to install XP you get a "hard drive not found...blah blah blah" error. The problem is because it needs SATA drivers, yes?

So, I looked on Intel's web site, Hitachi's website, and Asus' website. No drivers to be found!

"Intel 82801 HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller" (without quotes). Also in the list of "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" is the "Intel ICH8M Ultra ATA STorage Controllers - 2850".

So, does anyone have any idea where I could find these drivers in some form or another so that I can install XP? Or if I have to...is there any way to optimize Vista? I've already increased the page file size, turned off tablet features, and set it to "Best Performance" in the visual effects setting...is there anything else I can do?

- Thanks

Go to HP.com and look for them.
I had this problem w/ a laptop. I turned the native SATA support off at the BIOS setup and it worked though.

Question: Sata drivers

do u need sata drivers(system:sn21g5) if u only want 1 hd.NO RAID

Answer:Sata drivers

That depends. If your system is capable of SATA then yes you will need SATA drivers to run any HDD attached. Need to check your mobo specs to make sure it can handle SATA before you purchase.

I bought a computer yesterday, and plugged it in, and everything was working just fine.

Now, personally, I don't like Vista at all, so I attempted to install XP. I got through the boot menu, and formatted the disks, then put the XP files on the partitions. Then the setup restarted my computer, and when it was supposed to go into the next part of the setup, it went into the first again, and acted like it didn't even put the files on the hard drive at all. So I said, 'Oh well, I guess this isn't going to work', and put the Vista installation CD back into the drive. I got through to the part after choosing whether you want x32, or x64 of Vista. I chose x64, as this is what the computer came with (I have tried both now) and it gets to the screen that asks what device I want to install Vista on. It doesn't show any devices, and it says it needs drivers for the particular partitions, and nothing will show up.

Any advice on how to fix this?
If you need computer specs, I can give them to you.

i installed windows xp pro about a year ago and had to use a floppy to install the serial drivers...i am trying to install windows again and i had to find the drivers online and put them on another floppy but i dont think they are the correct drivers....i have a western digital raptor 10,000rpm serial hd.....can some send me a link to the correct driver...thanx

Answer:sata drivers for xp pro

Do you know the make and model of your Motherboard as the SATA drivers will come from them or if you have it still the motherboard driver CD that would have been supplied has them on it.

If you know the Motherboard, then goto the site and locate your board and then look for the drivers for that board and download the SATA drivers if you dont know what motherboard you have then download Everest ( Free ) once installed click Computer and Summary and the boards name will be listed under Motherboard > Motherboard Name

once you have them you then need to pop them onto a floppy.

i want to put xp on my acer extensa 4620z i know how to do it...the process that is.
but what sata drivers do i use? i tried intel ones...and there was a long list...i didnt know
what to select...and the sata drivers from acer are a setup program...not inf file

any help please

Answer:sata drivers for xp pro

From http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...k/ex_4620.html
choose "F6 Intel SATA HDD Driver Floppy Utility" which is a floppy image.
You can use Universal Extractor (http://legroom.net/software/uniextract)
to extract the needed files.
Next step is slipstreaming sata drivers (http://www.nliteos.com/guides.html)
in win-cd.

I've just been reading a comment on another thread that SATA HDD are the best to buy. There is a problem with them as far as I know though, in that Windows does not include any drivers for these drives and you need them on a floppy or CD which you use somehow. I know about the idea of pressing F6 during the initial stages of a Windows installation, but how you deal with it when just adding a new addittional HDD I don't know. Also there is a problem, at least I have one, in that I can't get F6 or F8 (for a safe mode,) to work. I wonder if this is because I have one of these fancy keyboards which give the 'F' keys two uses, and the 'F' facility doesn't work until the 'F-Lock' button on the keyboard is pressed, which doesn't work during the booting up process!Do we know whether M/s. are yet including the drivers for SATA HDDs in the present editions of Windows, or will we have to wait for a new incarnation.

Answer:SATA drivers and XP SP2

It does depend on what system you have....for example I use an Asus P4P800 Deluxe which has an Intel 865 chipset. This DOES support SATA drives without any extra drivers.I have one SATA drive in the pc.I just plugged it in from new and installed Windows in exactly the same way as with an IDE drive.I could have elected to use a RAID 0 array instead if I wished as that would not need any extra drivers either. In fact the only time I would need any additional 3rd party drivers with this board is if I wanted to set up an IDE RAID array. Many boards do need extra drivers though and I agree it is high time that all new motherboards had SATA as the default and Windows supported it so that no extra drivers were needed. It often adds an unnecessary complication to the setting up of a new pc. Maybe someone out there knows the reason for this but my suspicious mind trends towards legal/licencing issues with the third party RAID/SATA controllers that many motherboard manufacturers use.So please correct me on this if you know the answer folks.

Just downloaded the latest nforce drivers for your motherboard and run that installer. It will update everything that should be updated.

There is no need to find the individual drivers or edit the registry at all.

Question: SATA DRIVERS ?

Hi Guys my pc won't boot up and on the black screen I get a message that sez BOOTMGR NOT FOUND or something like that.
Now on my machine I have 2 drives, a 1TB for storage and a 750 GB for games and art work and this drive contain the OS.
Now at times when the system trys to boot up and gets to the screen where its showing whats connected to the machine, it will list the storage drive with the 950 or 60 GB which is accurate but when it list the system drive it lists it as 7GB.
So what I did was to set the PC to boot from the CD Drive and put in my WIN 7 disc and set it to repair.
But when it starts to load I get a screen that sez SELECT OS but my OS is not there so the next option is IF OS IS NOT FOUND SELECT LOAD DRIVERS AND HIT OK.
Now the problem is that the only disc that I have is the one that comes with the drive and when you put that in there are no drivers.
The box on the WIN 7 screen is looking for a file called SYSTEM INFORMATION so I clicked on every item that I found in the disc and none of them are the ones.
It just gives me an error box that sez THE SPECIFIED LOCATION DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR HARDWARE.
So since I can't track down drivers for it, should I just go ahead and still try the repair even though the OS is not found in the box ?
How do I get a BOOTMGR file ?
Thanks

Answer:SATA DRIVERS ?

Two possibilities.

Is your BIOS seeing the 650Gb drive ?  Go into your BIOS, you do this usually by clicking the 'Delete' key a few times while the BIOS screen (the one with the maker's name all over it as soon as you switch on) is visible. Other keys are sometimes used, it will tell you on the BIOS screen. When you get into the BIOS you will find a screen listing your drives. If this HD is not listed it usually means that there is a problem with it, it may simply be disconnected.

The other is whether or not this drive is listed in the boot priority list. Still in the BIOS, move along to the section 'Boot' or 'Boot priority' and check that this drive is listed either first, or second after your optical (CD/DVD) drive. If you have made any changes to adjust these settings, then exit saving them and see if the computer boots normally after that.

If it doesn't, post back but include details of your computer - make and model at a mininum.

I am trying to reload XP Pro on a used T60 that I bought but I don't have the diskd that came with it. Can anyone tell me where I can get the SATA drivers for a Fujitsu MHV2100BH.

Answer:SATA drivers for T60

You need drivers designed for the OS not the HD itself. The T60 is an IBM notebook-- is that right? The IBM site should have needed drivers if necessary. Some Intel based MB have native SATA support for XP. Not sure if yours does.

My parts for my first build will be here Friday and I want to clarify something before I run into trouble later. I have a gigabyte ep35-ds3l motherboard and I will be using a WD 640GB sataII drive. I plan on installing XP and if I am correct, I will need sata drivers in order to install XP with AHCI enabled. My question is which sata drivers do I need? Gigabytes website doesn't seem to have any specific sata drivers. Does XP have the ability to look for USB flash drives for the sata drivers or do I need to borrow a floppy from an old PC? Thanks for the help!

Answer:Sata drivers for XP

XP can't use anything but a floppy drive to load the F6 drivers as required, sorry. You either do it that way, or you integrate the drivers manually into a new installation CD, which is actually the preferred method as floppies can be pretty damned unreliable. Also, making a "new" properly integrated XP SP3 CD now that Service Pack 3 is out is the way to go, and then integrate the SATA drivers also.

I am not 100% sure if the AHCI controller on that mobo supports that mode of operation under XP, and here's why: I have the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, almost the same board in some respects, using the same chipset and the same North Bridge also, and AHCI doesn't work during the installation because Intel doesn't support it unless it's an ICH9R chipset.

There are reports where people use the native SATA IDE mode (sounds weird but it's there) to get XP installed, then after XP is up and running they'll install the proper AHCI driver and .inf file and after a reboot it works, but I've attempted to install XP Pro SP3, XP x64 SP2, and even Win2K3 (32 bit and 64 bit) using AHCI mode in the BIOS and the damned thing just doesn't work, with the driver integrated or on a floppy. Not sure what exactly the problem is, but right now I'm using Win2K3 x64 in SATA IDE native mode since I cannot get AHCI mode working at all.

I've made repeated attempts to enable AHCI support and get it working under the older OSes, and it just doesn&#... Read more

Well, I am now in the process of upgrading to my new system.

Ok, I am at a loss. I installed the WD SATA, Plextar and a floppy and booted up. It posts and sees the WD HD connected to the #1 SATA port. The SATA jumper is enabled. When it reaches the SATA driver utility, it sees the WD as HD 0. Boot sequence is CD, Floppy and SCSI. Install asks for F6 if SCSI drivers and have hit F6. When XP gets to reading the HD, it doesn't see it and wants the 3rd party drivers. The current SATA drivers are there, so I don't know why XP doesn't see the drive. I am just running 1 SATA drive, not a raid config. I didn't get a SATA utility floppy with the drivers on it (purchased a barebones sys) and if I don't select installing the drivers, it of course doesn't see the drive at all and wants to stop loading XP.

I downloaded drivers (from the ASUS) and tried to put the SATA driver on a floppy but it's too big. I copied the ASUS CD SATA driver info to a disk and downloaded SATA drivers from the Silicon Image site and put them on a disk. It can't find "Si3112r.sys", but I know it is there. I am not sure which files I need. What do I need to do to get the XP setup to read the drive?

I just installed Win 64 on my kv8 pro and none of the sata drivers work!

I tried 3 different sata drivers for windows xp 64 bit and none of them work.

I tried the hyperion on viaarea, the sata420 one on this forum and another hyperion .exe i found.
I think they are all for the kt800 chipset... and i have the kt800 pro.

The 'ironic' part is that I made a diskette for the sata when i installed windows and it saw the drive. But now that I'm in windows, my sata drive isn't there and the drivers won't work!

(I installed windows on an IDE drive)

Where are 64 bit sata drivers for my board?

thx

Put in your motherboard CD and look for the "Make bootdisk" command. Create a boot disk, and when you enter setup, it will ask you to push F6 to install a new raid driver or something...hit it.

Then it will give you an option to select one, hit S to select one and pick XP...its pretty straight forward from there

Google has given me no answer to this issue (I think because of it mostly being that Driver and Drivers are two words that are very similar...), so I am here to ask for some assistance from the community:

My friend has a Windows 7 Professional x64 machine that boots just fine. One day though, it started giving me an issue with USB thumb drives, where it could not find the drivers for them. This issue them persisted to roll over into any SATA drivers. Any drivers that were there before the issue started had no problems. The drives are recognized in the BIOS, but cannot be found in Disk Management. I can find the drives in Device Manager, but they have no drivers for them.

I've tried a couple of different fixes for them. Tried doing a repair on Windows Update with no help. Ran chkdsk and sfc. Tried doing a repair on the WMI and Windows Installer. I ran an AIO fix-tool from tweaking.com that I refer to as "Tweaker" and this didn't fix the issue either. It can't be something hardware related because it is seeing the drives, but just not finding them in Windows. Any suggestions would be more than helpful.

*EDIT* The motherboard for the computer is an Intel DP67BG.

Question: XP Sata drivers

Looking for a bit of help here with AHCI drivers for xp-64. I have never used n-lite before and can't seem to get it right. I am using these drivers to do it. I am doing multiple driver folder, selectiong the folder, using textmode drivers and then selecting all of the drivers to add. Whenever I burn it and try to run it though I am getting a BSOD when it starts windows. Disabling AHCI fixes it. Any idea how to fix this?

Answer:XP Sata drivers

OK, so your sata controller is set to AHCI, you're using the nLited XPx64 install disc and it's seeing the hard drive in setup, it installs but blue screens on Windows boot?

I would definitely try the F6 floppy method. I have several different types of machines at work that run XP with AHCI enabled and I was only able to get the drivers nLited on one model. Not all AHCI drivers are capable of being slipstreamed or even F6ed for that matter. Some you can F6 but not slipstream. Some even strait up say they won't work with F6 or slipstream. How they got it to work with the base install that shipped with it is beyond my technical understanding. I just don't understand how you can have a driver that can only be installed within windows, but is required to see the hard drive from the installer. It's very irritating and I'm just glad they solved it with Vista.

Hi everyone,

Hello everyone, I have been dealing with a lot of frustration on simply finding the necessary drivers in order to install windows xp home on a hard drive. I don't know whether I am blind, but I have searched all over for these drivers.

Here is my set up.
Computer: HP m7680n Media center edition
Motherboard: ASUS P5BW-LA
HardDrive that I want to install XP on: Hitachi HD5721 SATA

I have gone to the Hitachi website, HP, and my motherboard website, and I have found no simple download link that will allow me to install the SATA drivers onto a floppy drive so that I can install them from the XP home setup screen when it asks me to press F6 and all that jazz. I have a floppy drive and am fine with just using it in that regard, but does anyone know where I can find these drivers.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3230688#N152

this is the link that shows the relevant information for my specific model number, but i am assuming that none of the driver downloads in that link is what is necessary for me to put the sata drivers on a floppy correct?

I would extremely appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction with this.

Hello,
Your computer has a Intel P965 chipset therefore you are going to need the mass storage drivers from Intel.

Usually you have to slipstream these drivers into an XP install using nlite as XP does not have built in support for AHCI and your computer does not have a floppy.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...ct=Intel®+965+Express+Chipset+Family&lang=eng

Some people have reported success by going into BIOS and setting it to IDE mode instead of AHCI. Then installing the drivers and then setting the BIOS back to AHCI but I cannot guarantee success using this method.

We're trying to install a new SATA controller card. The drivers simply refuse to install

We have tried everything that we can think of, but as soon as we point to them and click on "next" they freeze the computer up.

Is there any way to manually install the drivers by manually placing them into Windows/system ?

Answer:Installing SATA Drivers

What version of Windows and what SATA card are you dealing with? Either way see if you can download newer drivers, they may also include a Setup or installer to help with the installation.

I changed the setting in bios from Raid to JBOD and now since I have a Sata Hard drive I want to install the Sata drivers. I have a Toshiba Portege M400-S5032 and I am attempting to install Windows 7 Pro 32 bit and like the usual problem when installing windows It cannot detect my HDD. Does anyone know where I can find the drivers, I've tried Toshiba website they only have Raid, I've looked everywhere with no luck.

I recently bought a Koutech IO-FPM421 5-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader with USB 2.0 / Firewire 1394a / Audio Ports / eSATA (3.5"). I bought it from Newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820162019

I only wanted it for the e-SATA port because I have an external hard drive that uses e-SATA and I herd it had the fastest read/write speed. well the problem is that I have a Dell Dimension 8400 with a revision A02 motherboard and I don't think I can plug in anything but the sata plug so when I go to install the software for it it says: "Please plug in the reader in order to install Multimedia Card Reader Utility " The only opton is to click OK then it says: "Becuse the reader is not connected, installation process is aborted."

I don't know if it specifically checks to make sure every thing is plugged in or just one thing ether way I at this point can't install the drives that come with it and I don't yet have an e-sata cord to test the e-Sata port.

Dose anyone know if i need these drives and if so can I get some generic E-sata drivers and get it to work with them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I have a post here at MajorGeeks that might be better suited to this forum because it's about drivers and firmware for a SATA HUB. It's located here

http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1169419#post1169419

I hope someone can help me with this. If not, I have a $139.00 paperweight because I've done all that I could to get it to work with no success.

I am going to attempt to set up XP (dual boot) on my Toshiba Qosmio laptop (F45 -410). I have read that I need to have my drivers for the Hard drive available. Firstly I cannot find the drivers on the Toshiba site. Secondly where do I put them after I have downloaded them in preparation for installing XP?
Thanks

Answer:Finding SATA drivers

Pagoda,

Once you have the drivers, you'll need to put them on floppy, and press F6 when Windows XP setup is loading. This will be prompted at the bottom of the screen.

hi there
well my problem is a little tricky but i will try to describe it as best as i can..

i just got my new VGA card installed (ATI HD 4890 TOXIC) and its a pretty big card so it covered all my s-ata sockets on the mother board and i had only 1 sata socket left and available for use..

i wanted to hock up 2 Sata drivers and a CD room so i needed extra sata sockets so i went a head and bought an On-board IDE/sata convertor which converts my IDE socket into 2 sata sockets..

i had Vista 64 installed but i had some trouble with online gaming on it so i tried to dual boot xp with it on the other Sata driver but i had many problems with my boot setting and i lost my xp system!

so here's the question...how can i connect the 2 Sata HD drivers so that i can install each operating system separately on each one and then dual them together..does this convert affects the slave/master settings as it was originally IDE socket?

thnx

P.S: i didn't know which section to post this but i went a head and put it here so move me if i am wrong

Answer:Connecting 2 SATA HD drivers

well..not to be needy or anything but..i see posts that are 5 hours later than mine and they already have 10-15 answers

again..i am not needy, i am just hasty

First a question:

Why do you want to update it? Isn't it working?

Your screenshot shows no problems.

Hello,

Is it required to install SATA drivers from floppy before OS installation? Maybe they made it more simple and it's not required.. I'm just curious.

Answer:Vista and SATA drivers

It might be, it depends on how new the SATA controller you have is and whether the built-in SATA support in Vista has the proper driver. If not, you'll know right at the start of the install because Vista won't be able to see your drives to install itself on. If that happens, then yes, you need to provide the SATA drivers, but with Vista it's easier: you can put them on a floppy, a CD, or even a USB drive.

Big difference from older versions of Windows and the old F6 method.

Answer:Equium L40-14I - Where to get SATA drivers?

Hi MartynB_1,

The SATA drivers you can download on official Toshiba website and the driver is called ?Intel Storage Manager?.
But you have to extract the files first before you can use them.

Here is an interesting article about this:

my laptop came with vista premium when i bought it like a week ago, so i swiped the drive and put XP by going into the bios and disabling SATA so i can install a legacy OS i guess that Windows XP lol, so i went into the BIOS again after i got XP ready and enabled SATA but!, it would not go past the booting screen, the screen would flash and it would just reboot again, so i turned off SATA again and it worked fine.

How can i enable SATA so that it would work with XP? do i need a driver? where can i get them?

HP doesnt have them, i tried the Intel Storage Manager but it says my pc requirements is not enough or something like that. Help anyone. thanks

Answer:Solved: XP SATA Drivers.Help

Your post is not clear but if you are saying that you cannot install XP because you need SATA drivers, then you have to find the correct ones for your hardware and install them at the F6 prompt during the install process. You will need a floppy drive to do this and you were on the right track when you investigated the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Start here and follow the prompts to get you to a download that is compatible with your mobo chipset and creates a floppy for you: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2101

You need to install the SATA drivers for that machine...they can be found at the motherboard manuf. website...unless you still have the Driver CD in which case they will be on there.

Hello, I actually have two questions. The SATA one first:

I have a WD 200gb SATA Hard drive that is going to be the sole primary drive in my system. I've heard everyone say you have to hit F6 to load the drivers when XP prompts you. That's fine but there seems to be two choices of drivers when I went to make a floppy disk.

There is a Sil3114 section which contains:
si3114r.cat
si3114r.inf
si3114r.mpd
si3114r.sys
SIISUPP.VXD
SIWinAcc.sys
Txtsetup.oem

There is also an option to "make f6 disk", doing so gives me a floppy with:

idecoi.dll
nvata.cat
nvatabus.inf
NvAtaBus.sys
nvcoi.dll
nvide.nvu
nvraid.cat
nvraid.inf
nvraid.sys
nvraidco.dll
nvuide.exe
txtsetup.oem

So I made two floppys of the above choices, which one do I use for a Single SATA drive?!

My second question is that since the only IDE device I have now is my DVD/CD-ROM drive do I just make this sole optical drive the master and install it to the Primary IDE connection on the motherboard? Before the IDE harddrive would take primary and I would make the optical drive secondary, but using a SATA HD this isn't the case.

Answer:K8N-E & Installing SATA drivers, which one!

Actually, if you aren't going to use RAID. Then you do not even need a floppy. I have the K8N-E Deluxe, and WindowsXP installed to my WD SATA drive.

There are 6 SATA connectors on that board, 4 of them are at the bottom and are intended for RAID. 2 are close to the middle of the board. Plug the drive into one of those 2 and you can install WindowsXP without needing to load any SATA drivers. So in otherwords, you DO NOT NEED to press F6.

And yes, you can/should connect your optical drive to primary ide.
