Preferred Solution: Is there a simple email client without all the extras like opening a new email accoun

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Re: Is there a simple email client without all the extras like opening a new email ac

Hi

Sadly nothing is easy I'm afraid when using Yahoo webmail unless you have the paid account, Live Mail and Gmail are the better free email accounts, but try the below.....

You can use your Yahoo email address with the Windows Live Email Client, or try Thunderbird as its free too.

BUT note that to setup POP3 account with an email client application you may need a Yahoo Plus account which is a paid for account over the free email account. But you can try Ypops! to set the free email up with POP3 access. Thunderbird + Ypops instructions HERE

Here is the problem: I have my email client (PocoMail) set as my default email client. It shows up as default client in the "Default Program section" in IE7.
When I click on a email link, whether it's in another program or on a website, my email client doesn't open the compose window with the address entered BUT IE7 starts and opens about 80 windows which need to be killed with Task Manager. By the way, this has nothing to do with PocoMail because it also happens when Thunderbird is set as default.

I am stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mentallo

So I happily installed Windows 7 Pro on my laptop and desktop. I have used GMail for about two years now and its nice, but I'd like to utilize Outlook and Office and GMail doesn't interface well (AT ALL!) with Outlook.

What I'm looking for is a simple, clean, small, but reliable and safe email client to switch to from GMail. I'll still use GMail, probably, and can go back to it if I don't like it anymore.

I'm reluctant to get a Windows Live Mail account (what is the domain name, anyway? @msn, @live, or what?) since I don't want to install redundant (Windows Live Essentials) software on my computers.

What do people recommend? Someone suggested GMX, which seems okay, but if there's something in-house, meaning Microsoft, I think I'd prefer that.

Answer:Hello. Simple email client, plx!

if you go to Windows essentials, they allow you to download just the email. That is what I did.

Using W7 Home Premium 64 with Thunderbird 3.0.3. Have several problems with Thunderbird using multiple IMAP accounts and sent folder problems that do no appear to have a resolution now or in the immediate future.
Both the email client that came with W7 and Thunderbird are overkill with far more options than I need like the personel, work, travel folder options.

Any basic fairly bug free email clients out there that will function with W7 64?

Answer:Need a Simple W7 email client

I got a spreadsheet from my boss earlier today and was putting in some new numbers. I forgot that I had opened the file directly from my email client (thunderbird). Anyway, I finished up hit save and closed Excel. The email still has the old copy, where did Excel save the new one too? All searches (including for files modified this week) were fruitless.

Did I just loose my data?

Hello, I always use web-based email via the browser at home. I do not use an email client(well in the office we have Outlook). I'd like to use Thunderbird at home with a Gmail account that can be used by the kids. Now I am using Avira IS 2012 and would like to make it scan emails through it's mailguard component. I have seen Thunderbird work with Avast IS on my brother's pc but I see that for it to scan all emails the SSL/TSL should be deactivated. I was asking the tech guys at the office about email clients, digital certificates etc and they only remarked "google it"...wow... So I came here....Now my questiosn are: a. Is it safe to disable SSL/TSL in an email client? In the office we have that(with Norton Enterprise) and I see an indicator at the bottom of the email message that it was scanned by Norton. b. Can there be an application that can allow me to have SSL/TSL at the same time have Avira scan my emails...? I searched google and found out that in Avira it also has to be disabled to let it scan all emails. c. SSL/TSL is encryption right..? Does not using encryption in email okay..? I mean at home. In the office it's important but at home...opinions please..d. What ports for POP3 IMAP SMTP should I allow Thunderbird to use In the firewall( I use Comodo). If Thunderbird wants connections via other ports other than the default ones...should I allow it or not..?e. Can an email client be run inside a sandbox? Is it sane enough or crazy..? Just... Answer:Thunderbrid email client, Comodo Email Certificates, Avira IS 2012 questions

I would highly recommend that you keep TLS/SSL enabled this makes sure that your password and user credentials are not sent in the clear.

if the AV needs to have this disabled then its not a good AV..

The ports are on the setup page for Gmail: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Gmail_with_Thunderbird_and_Mozilla_Suite

Digital Certs are expensive to create and use, and only vital for businesses and not home users.

My email client, desktop program PostBox (for Win) has been slowed since I installed BD TS2016 (I'm quite sure this is the reason as it was very fast before, and slowed immediately after...)

I also run WebRoot AV (which does not scan email as per their documentation) and HitmanAlertPro (which could also be affecting my email client, but I uninstalled it to test this somewhat small chance given its just an anti-exploit, and it doesn't seem to have affected it, the client is still slow).

1. I would LIKE BD to scan my email as of course having AV w/o scanning email could in many ways be pointless given email can be a deadly vector for heavy malware.

2. But I don't want my client to be slow. It's not horrible, and I suppose I could tolerate it (basically deleting messages, loading new messages, and the program responsiveness overall, is a bit sluggish compared with its normal instantaneous response)

3. Is there a way to configure email scanning differently? Or should the program NOT be slowing my client noticeably in general, and is this behavior indicative of something being wrong?

I'm sure BD users will be able to comment on whether it slows their email or not given they use a desktop client like Outlook, Postbox, Thunderbird, etc.

Thanks!

Answer:BitDefender Email Scanning Mechanism? Performance Issues w/ email Client

I use T-Bird (v 31.7.0) On 2 occasions now, I have sent emails, with Attachments, to a friend in the UK, who is running HOTMAIL.On each occasion the Attachment is OK, but the message I sent with ti increases it?s Font size, line by line, until it is unreadable. Two 3 or 4 characters per line??and sections of the email are repeated. 4 or 5 lines, then back to the top. They are blaming me for a Virus?..but I am thinking the problem is their end, with a stuck key, or similar. Any ideas ?

Answer:thunderbird email change font size in hotmail email client

I don't know what is causing this but pretty sure "what it isn't".1. It is not the usual behaviour of a virus.2. It is not a stuck key their end. Keys don't come into the equation for received emails.Try sending an attachment to yourself and some other contact who will co-operate. That way you should be able to narrow down which end is responisible for the problem.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hidy ho all,

I wanted to set up an email client that acted a bit like my phone handles email. Downloads the new ones, lets me choose what to do with them (read them, delete them, mark them as special or something) but then simply uploads the instructions to the server without actually deleting them from the server. Is there an email client that does this?

Answer:Email client that doesn't download email?

After opening an email, when I try to open a heading to read the article, my PC freezes and I have a hand with pointing finger instead of a cursor arrow. The only way to revert it is to Alt+Con+Del then end task. My email then closes - back to windows-and I have to reopen my email. Any ideas? It's a nuisance because generally they are newspaper articles I want to read.

My Email client, MSN Premium (not Hotmail) will not open to write an email when clicking on any website's button labeled "send us an email". Instead this action causes several instances (up to 5) of IE6 to invoke and then the Op Sys (WinME) hangs until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the erroneously opened IE tasks. I thought maybe it was that MSN mail was not my default email client so I used the proceedure to make MSN mail my default instead of OE6 but each time I returned to the options to see if it had changed it still says my default client is OE. Interestingly, if I envoke the MSN explorer and go to my MSN email inbox I can send and receive my email perfectly. This machine has been up and running since last October. I do not know if the problem has always existed or started more recently since I don't often click on "send us email" buttons.
I have three other machines similarly set up and none of them exhibit this problem.
WinMe, MSN Premium, and MSN messenger 6 all are up to date and current.
McAfee AV is on and up to date.
CounterSpy and Spybot are up to date and actively running.
Firefox 1.0.2 is my default browser

Answer:Solved: Clicking "send us an email" hangs system and will not open my email client.

Specifically if using the portable form of Opera Mail, the mail client available from portableapps.com.

I tried looking at many articles from internet searches but found nothing telling where to find the folder holding the email messages for the email client.  My copy of portable Opera Mail is on a usb flash drive.  I have tried looking through the folders for the application but still do not know how to recognize any email messages.

Answer:Where on desktop is email for email client?

portableapps.com.

You do understand that downloading apps like this from most 3rd party sites poses all sorts of security risks, Remember this, That software while it was made by WhoEver has now been modified by somebody, How was it modified, Who did it, What else did they put in it? I may be wrong here however I also think may be against most software developers TOS to use modified software like this.

FYI only.
While Opera is free some sites and some people have used " the making of a app portable" on paid for software to bypass  having to pay for the software. I used to do just that a long time ago. I now know and understand why it is bad.

Eg.
Making XXXXbytes premium into a portable application. While creating the portable you use a genuine key or "other" methods to activate Then compile it as portable with the activation in place, Now anybody with XXXXbytes portable has a free premium copy instead. That's software piracy. And Theft.

I use thunderbird to connect to my ARMY AKO email account. I noticed the majority of the time, the client has difficulty completing sending email. (Though some gets through without timing out.) IF I go directly to the website and use their email I have no problems at all. What could be causing this? I'd rather use my client email program than to have to go the email site. Can someone reccomend a "Web-Based" Email site .... (ie Yahoo, Excite etc.) that can accept and display all of the attachment and goodies that OUTLOOK EXPRESS can generate?

For instance... if I send Email to my friend at Yahoo and I use a really cool stationary background she can only view the background as a seperate attachment.

Are there any web-based Email accounts that will view these backgrounds as part of the email without extra downloading? Even Actually... even WEB-TV can handle most of OUTLOOKS goodies, yet I have yet to find a web-based Email client that can.

Thanks in advance

Not sure about that but another way around it would be for the person say using Yahoo mail, to access their Yahoo mail account using OutlookExpress.

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

Answer:Outlook Email - Deleting Wrong Email Entry when starting new email

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

That's it.

(sorry if this is a repost, did a bit of searching beforehand though)

I've used Opera's built in email for a long time now, mostly because I enjoy the convenience of clicking the left sidebar and opening my email so easily, but I was wondering what everyone else uses? Perhaps try to coax me into a new client?

Answer:What email client do you use?

Most that use IMAP (including myself) are not very happy with Opera's mail client.

They've rewritten the IMAP backend from scratch. It is available in 9.0TP1 and will be available in 9.0 Final when it comes out.

The problem is, the interface is a pop3 interface. Almost all the features are pop3 features. There are a million features missing for IMAP. Opera's mail client destroys the idea of IMAP. I've been on them to fix things. We'll see.

Also, the fact that the folder list is in a panel and the message list is in a separate window makes it a pain for drag n drop. Lots of people have panel placement set to float, which make the mail client a pain to use.

The whole filters deal just doesn't do it for imap. Opera's mail client doesn't even keep things in sync with the server. Also, it can easily wipe out all messages in your imap folder.

Now for pop3, Opera's mail client works fine and is pretty cool.

Also, if you are one to compose mail in HTML format, you can't in Opera. You can't even forward HTML that someone sent to you. Also, Opera itself doesn't support copying and pasting of rich text so if you copy pics, links and text from a web page and paste it, all you get is text.

Also, new in Opera mail, like some other clients, now splits up download messages into separate folders for each day and each message is now stored in a separate file. This is supposed to improve parsing files by doing things separately... Read more

Question: email client

Hello

To change my email client do I click on control panel>default programs>associate a file type>mail to?

My current one is WLM but I don't know what happens when I click "Change program"!

Will I have a choice like Windows Outlook.com?

**The reason I am asking is because if I click on 'set your default programs' as I usually do and highlight a program to set as default, no other mail is there - just WLM. I have Gmail, 2 Live accounts, Comcast account, and WLM all in my WLM desk account. I was hoping to make the Outlook.com application the email client but maybe it cannot be done.
I have not synchronized and do not know if it is necessary to get Outlook.com to appear on the default program page.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you
Peter

Answer:email client

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question or not but I have a new laptop with Windows 8 and there are those panes and one was for Mail. I selected it and it asked me to enter my username and password. I wasn't sure if it would work but I put in my hotmail information and it worked. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to back of out that and there are other people that use this laptop using the same login information. When you select the Mail pane, it automatically goes to my email inbox. Is there a way to reset it so there is no personal info again? I don't really know what I am doing but I do know I don't want a bunch of folks able to read my personal email. I have looked everywhere I know to look.

I would really appreciate any help you can provide.

I have a few email addresses from different companies that I have had for many years. I had no problem setting them up in Outlook Express, so whatever email address the person had that I gave them (anyone of three different ones), Outlook Express would open all of them.

Now I intend to buy a computer with Windows 7 and they do not use Outlook Express. I would like to keep these different email addresses and have the emails all open in the email client I choose to use.

I assume that Outlook would do this, but I really can afford it right now but will get it if I have to.

Any email program that will pull all these different email address in and open them?

Someone mentioned Windows Live 2011 - I haven't looked into this one, anyone familiar with it?

Free is good

I have been using AOL for years and have finally got fed up as they have been losing 30% of my email over the last month and simply will not admit it is their fault. I have set up my own domain with oneandone who also provide me with 3 POP3 mailboxes and an outgoing SMTP server. So, I have some nice new addresses and some mailboxes which leaves two decisions: which ISP to use to get on line and which Mail Client to use to send and receive email.I have plenty of time to decide on which ISP to use as I am still using AOL to log on. However, the question of which Mail Client to use to access my POP3 Mailboxes is urgent. I have played about a bit with Outlook Express over the years so using that would be the easiest. However, I am worried that most viruses, worms etc seem to be written to work with OE so would I be best to avoid it?I am wondering about Outlook, but is it not also vulnerable to viruses etc? Is it not also fairly big and clunky given that I only want email, not any sort of time management. (I am retired) On the other hand, I shall be using several email addresses to keep my mail in order so perhaps Outlook would be a good choice?I am wondering to about Eudora and Pegasus. As I know nothing about these, any comments would be most helpful. With thanks in advance.

Answer:Which is the best Email Client?

This is a good choice if you want to add a bit of panache, or perhaps themes to your emails as I find most emails boring.Depending on your sense of humour you can certainly liven someones day up, and as far as bugs, worms, etc I am not aware of any but of course you have to be using decent Antivirus, Firewalls etc for protection anyway.

I have Windows 10 pro and have been using Windows Mail; unfortunately it is erratic syncing and I just lost a valuable folder. It seems ok at times and I like its simplicity because I am at an average tech level.
I have had other issues with it so have discontinued use.
Awkward as it may sound, I use gmail because of my phone but it too has difficult folders.
I have a MS account because I run Windows and it too has fickle folders.
So I use the folders in my ISP Comcast account as it is dependable as far as folders go.
All of my contacts and places like forums and doctors tetc have my MS account as the default.
I have read about email clients and tried a few like Thunderbird, Claws, and another that escapes me.
I need an email client that is fairly easy to use and can accomodate three accounts.
Are you aware of any? I don't have a VM so don't want to try then remove too many.

Answer:email client

OK, this is just my $0.02 worth. If you liked the old M/S Outlook Express you may want to look at OE Classic from here: http://https://www.oeclassic.com/ A member here suggested it to me and I switched. Works great with my gmail without having to go to gmail.

Hi,

I have just upgraded my PC to Windows 7 and note that there is no email client. I have installed Windows Live Mail and I hate this programme with a vengenance. My wife refuses to use the PC until I get rid of WLM.

We have a laptop which still has Vista and Windows Mail which we are used to and is excellent. We really do not want two different email programmes so is there a way to install the Vista Windows Mail on my Win 7 PC? We can transfer the necessary files from the laptop if need be.

Step by step instructions would be appreciated.

Question: Email Client

I was just curious what the email client of choice is with Win7 since it does not come with one. I am leaning toward Thunderbird. I have to have the ability to have two email addresses. From my understanding if you use Windows Live Mail, you must actually go into the Control Panel and change users. That is alot of trouble. Does anyone know of another email client other than Thunderbird that allows two users like Outlook Express did?

Question: W10 Email Client ?

I've been using the latest Windows 10 Email app "Mail". I have it configured for my outlook email accounts. When a receive an email and it has an attachment ie a Photo, and I save the attachment I've noticed that the downloaded file ends up being " Read Only ". If I download the same attachment from the Outlook Server, it does not have the " Read Only " attribute marked. Also I tried downloading the same attachment via my Thunderbird Client, it also downloads the file, but the " Read only " attribute is NOT set.

Does anybody know how to turn off this feature OFF ?

Any help will be appreciated.

I use gmail for my email but since this particular website doesn't have an email submission form, it needs the mail client to open to give me the address. Please help.

I currently us Outlook Express for my email client. I often times get email with lots of nice images, links and almost looks like a Web site but it's an email. I was told that I would need to use something other than Outlook Express to do this type of email.

2 questions:

1. Any suggestions of email clients that any of you use to do this type of emailing would be appreciated.

2. Can I use more than one email client (of course only one would be set as the default client), such as Outlook Express and some other client - then switch between the two?

Thanks,
Rudy

Am using Netscape 7.2 right now. Understand the latest version is over blotted with a clumsy UI (haven't even looked at it yet). When emailing a file from another application, such as Word or Adobe, Netscape opens but the authoring program crashes. So, I am looking for another email client.

Have used Opera Mail from within the browser, Incredimail, ExpressPlus (which integrates with my PIM - Time & Chaos), Courier Mail, etc. What is the best email client that you have used, are you still using it, and how long have you used it?

Question: Email client

Thinking about getting away from using webmail, and getting a webmail client. I use W7 Ult. I am not looking to pay for anything; I understand MS Outlook has a free vers. So, I go to the outlook page, but it's asking me to sign up. That kinda threw me. Sign up - for what? Create an acct? That type of thing worries me, even if it is MS.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Answer:Email client

Ms Outlook has no free versions. Outlook.com (former Hotmail.com and Live.com) is a webmail service by Microsoft. It has nothing to do with Microsoft Outlook email client and personal information manager, part of the Microsoft Office suite. If you want to use Outlook.com webmail, you have to sign up for an Outlook.com account.

You can use Microsoft Office Outlook client to read and send Outlook.com mail but they really have nothing else to do with each other.

Some free email clients:Windows Live Mail (Windows Essentials: Other Programs - Microsoft Windows)
Mozilla Thunderbird (Mozilla Thunderbird)
Pegasus (Pegasus Mail)

I wanted to ask: what is the best email client software available? A little time ago I was reading a comparing article of several clients on a magazine and the winner was pocomail.
What I am looking for in an email client is the function of following the conversations by grouping the emails written to a specific person. This characteristic is perfectly funtional in gmail.
What do you guys think?

You might take a look at Eudora. It allows you to make a mail box for certain individuals then it filters the mail into that mailbox from that person. I use Eudora for e-mail and I'm really happy with it.

Who is your web host, what level of hosting account do you have with them and do they allow you to run your own CGI or PHP scripts ?Perhaps they offer you their own CGI mailer, since most web hosts seem to these days.Have you looked at the NetObjects services you get for free as a registered user ?They offer page hit counters, form to email, online polls and so on for certain versions of NOF.If you are really struggling email me.Setting up the FormMail script seems far harder to most people than it actually is. I think many people stare a large block of Perl code in the face and come to the rapid conclusion that they can't do it. It's a shame reaaly, because in most cases, all you need to do is change three or four lines of the script with your own and your hosts details and add the relevant hidden form fields onto your web form and that's it.There's a rough guide to using the FormMail script with NetObjects click hereTIf you are totally bogged down I'll walk you through it.

I cannot access organizational emails due to the error that states that my default email client isn't properly installed. I couldn't even use the one here!

The only email account I have is gmail and I don't have Outlook. However, I do have Windows Live Messenger even tho' I'm not sure why. I think I had to install it in order to do something with pictures or something.

I've changed my gmail settings, first, to imap, then, to pop. Neither work.
The system came with the Dell Inspiron One this past August and I was never able to access emails to places like my own city hall.
The only changes I've made was to later replace McAfee with Bitdefender.

The good folks over at the google forum haven't answered me, so, will you?
Operating system: Windows 7
Program and version you use to access Gmail: Not sure - I typically access through 'my favorites' or Google
The only search engines that I have is the 64 bit IE, Google toolbar for IE and Google Chrome.
Your antivirus software: Bitdefender 2012
Any extensions, toolbars or plug-ins: I only have the well-known essentials like adobe, quicktime, etc.. My google bar is plain with just the 'translate' and 'more' buttons.

Scenario: mother-in-law, computer phobic. Yahoo email is too complicated and the interface changes too often (yes, I know I'm doomed from the start). Even the slightest change in interface will throw her off completely, and part of the problem is that using a web browser is too complicated, so the wife has directed that I set her mother up with an email application that at least won't have a changing interface. The wife wanted me to set her mother up with Outlook (my response was "you think that is less complicated?"), but her mother doesn't have Microsoft Office, so hopefully I'll find a free email client that works for her.

My first attempt will probably be to simplify Mozilla Thunderbird as much as possible, though I have never used Thunderbird before. Any suggestions for other email apps or methods of simplifying Thunderbird would be appreciated!

The thing I want to know most is where the email I have saved is stored. Is it on a Earthlink sever or is it resident in my PC?

Currently I am using Thunderbird, previously I used WLM. As far as WLM is concerned, I disliked it from the word go. Thunderbird, on the other hand, I liked from the start excepting for the fact that it seems to take forever (by today's computer standards) to load.

My question is: Is there a happy medium? Something like Thunderbird that loads quickly? I did the usual googling and came up with a number of names to programs that promise you the moon and sixpence: each one is the best ever and will never be eclipsed, ya, ya!

So I ask the experts here what opinions they hold of the various email clients. I don't care if it is free or I have to pay for it as long as it works like TB but loads quickly.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Searching for a new email client

I've been trying Thunderbird as I need a replacement for Outlook 2003, which has had Microsoft support dropped when they dropped Windows XP. I don't see any difference in speed between Outlook 2003 and Thunderbird. They both load equally fast.

When I try to run Outlook, I get an error message that says: "Outlook requires Outlook Express 4.01 or greater".  Apparently, I inadvertently deleted an Outlook Express library that Outlook shares and now Outlook will not run.  The message says to run "IE5Setup.exe" to reinstall Outlook Express.  I found the program on the CD, but it will not install because there is a later version of IE on the System.  The OS is Windows XP Pro w/SP2 and the Outlook is part of Office XP Standard 2002.I found an article in the MS Knowledge Base regarding this topic, but it doesn't really tell you how to install Outlook Express in XP.  I can't figure out low to download Express from the MS Download Center; so now I'm stuck.Has anyone encountered this problem or know how to fix it?Thanks

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspxOutlook Express doesn't have its own installer, it is an option of Internet Explorer. You will most likely need to reinstall the latest version of Internet Explorer with the Outlook package included.

Hi,
I have WinXP Home SP2 and Pegasus mail shows up in IE as the default mail program, and I don't want any email program there. The drop down menu in IE doesn't let me select "none". I'm not sure if the config in Pegasus would allow me to change this or not, but still, the drop down doesn't allow a blank. It has Outlook and something like possibly...MS Web Mail in there too.
Is there a way to NOT have any default email client listed in IE?

So remember the days, when you click the "Inbox" button on you WLM/MSN and BOOM! IE opens up, auto-logged in waiting for you to check/browse your stuff?

Well I've upgraded to Windows Essentials 2011, and I started to like the actual client (Windows Live Mail). Recently however, I grew tired of it for some odd reason, since any changes I have to make...I'll have to do it on the web based email page anyways.

The problem is, when I liked the Windows Live Mail client, I set it as the actual default client. How do I switch it back to IE opening my email? Tried default programs, but none of those seems to help . Any suggestions?

Edit: Got the issue resolved. Was trying to avoid reinstalling Windows Live Essentials but that fixed it anyways.

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some advice. My problem is as follows. I use Hotmail email, my partner has my email password which is fine as he often needs to access it to check paypal emails etc. Recently however he has started deleting emails before I read them and wiping them from my deleted box. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to have an email client that will download my mail and hold onto it even if he deletes it from my hotmail so I can see it. If not an external email client then maybe a server I can stream my mail through as such? I was considering Thunderbird but I'm not sure if it has that capability, or if anything does make this possible?

Is there perhaps a client that will download the email as it's pushed onto the server but not remove them if its deleted thought my webmail account?

Any advice or opinions much appreciated. I have of course asked him NOT to delete things but it hasnt had any effect

Answer:Is an Email Client the answer? Please help.

Hi

This is a difficult-ish one as in the main if you delete hotmail emails they get deleted perminently as it doesnt work like many HTTP email services with "leave copy of emails on the server" option in email clients, I just tested this again with my hotmail account usinging Thunderbird to delete an email and then logging online to Hotmail and seeing if its still there, well sadly it wasnt.

But an option I could suggest barring anyone elses thoughts on this is to create yourself a new Hotmail account (dont give password out) and then in the one your having the delete issues, is to login online to Hotmail and click options, then click Email Forwarding and then click Forward your email to another email account and then add that account address into the box and click Save.

This should automatically forward all emails from your main email account to this secondary one, so you can access that account online to check for any missing ones.

I wouldnt suggest using an email client as in Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail, Outlook etc as your partner would have access to that client, unless you create a secondary Basic User account for them and leave yourself as Admin (create a password for the Admin account)

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using btw?

I need to move 8 of my email accounts to a different PC that already has MS Outlook running on it with a number of other email addresses that I need to monitor. I would prefer not to add the new email addresses to Outlook and would prefer to access them on a separate email client. What are the best choices in this regard? Obviously, Outlook and the client would need to play nice with each other, but that shouldn't be a problem, these days should it? I ask because the last time I needed to do this, I used Outlook and Eudora and they did not have any issues with each other, even running simultaneously. Yes, I know, I am getting old...

I don't think that it exists, but an email client that works with Outlook calendar invites would be ideal.

Thanks!

Answer:Best Non-Outlook Email Client?

I've been using Thunderbird for years and have yet to find anything to replace it. At this point I've migrated all of my accounts over to it and have nothing bad to say about.

As for calendars, I don't really know if you can integrate the Outlook calendar to it. There is an extension called "Lightning". That will integrate with Google calendar but that's as far as I've ever had to go with setting up a calendar in Thunderbird.

And for the record... I followed a near identical upgrade path as you did from the late 90s Eudora to Outlook (up to 2007) then finally just jumped ship. Haven't looked back.

I'm currently using OE for mail, not thrilled with it. Using it for 6 hotmail accounts, 1 ISP based email, and about 5 NG servers (text only, use forte agent & newsbin for binaries). I do like the fact that you can easily change NG identities with OE, don't like that it shows a emailer's NAME instead of ADDRESS when you receive a message (most people have 2+ addresses, how you reply to "Sue Smith" may depend on WHERE the mail originated, her work or her personal mail etc. Since it just says "Sue Smith", you have to do a bunch of right clicking to find the ADDRESS). So what clients do people recommend?

TIA

I have a new pc, with Windows 7, and am going to try without Outlook which i have used for years, and still do at work.

I am trying to figure out the best alternative, that has similar functionality to Outlook, and would suggest a popular client so that support is available.

I was considering Thunderbird, as I have used Firefox for the last few years.

Does it have Calendar and Contacts similar to Outlook?
Can it be synched with Gmail?

What is the best way to get mails from pst on old pc to new client in new pc???

I have seen this:
1. Install Thunderbird on old pc, and transfer data
2. Then copy the entire Thunderbird folder on your old PC from: < path >\Application Data\Thunderbird folder
3. Install Thunderbird on the new PC and elect to NOT migrate any data
4. Create a new Profile, and elect to use "Default User" as the Profile Name
5. Start Thunderbird, but exit when the Mail Wizard comes up
6. Next, with Thunderbird closed: Navigate to the < path >\Application Data\Thunderbird folder Delete the Thunderbird folder
7. Next: Copy the Thunderbird folder from the Old PC to the < path >\Application Data Folder
8. Start Thunderbird, and your Mail and all data will be in place.

I am not familiar with Optimum online. One possible suggestion would be to see if their web mail interface has an option to always send a copy back to the sender of all outgoing messages. If such an option is not available, you could have people manually include their address in the cc. line as they compose each message.

I am looking for the best free email client. Have tried gmail, hotmail, and a couple of others even mozilla? can't even think of its name right off hand. I am thinking about changing from MS Office Pro 7 as I don't like the new ribbon bar, I like the older style better. Anyway to one of the free offices but they don't have an email client in them. Any suggestions. The one from mozilla, I could never get to work right for some reason.

Answer:looking for a good email client

After years of using and hating mail clients, I have finally settled on Web based mail as my method of sending and receiving mail. I never have to worry about mail getting corrupted or lost, etc...

That said, my favorite web based email remains Yahoo mail.

I work for a small web design company that host our own clients. I am not a server tech but I have to make do. Recent problem has come up. We have several clients that are having sporadic issues connecting to their mailboxes on our server. They are ALL using some form of outlook (which I personally don't use so I am not real up on it). The error is as follows....The host 'mail.naturalsolutionsplacerville.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Account: 'Internet mail', Server: 'mail.naturalsolutionsplacerville.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

We are running a windows 2003 web edition server with IIS6 plesk 7.5.6 (reloaded) and MailEnable Standard 1.95 all leased form GoDaddy.

Anybody have any ideas? This is not constant. Is it possible that there is some type of DNS issue? Or a problem with the mail program? Help!

I am using Outlook Express 6. But recently it has started acting funny. Even otherwise I am not too fond of it. I have tried Thunderbird, but didn't like it. I have heard many good things about The Bat but I am not too sure about it.

Please suggest a FREE / PAID email client. Follwing are the basic requirements.

1. I use multiple email accounts.
2. I format my mails by opening the source as OE has limited WYSIWYG capability.
3. It would be great if I can preview the headers and delete directly from server.
4. Ability to use Digital Signatures would be great.
5. I don't use MS Office. So spell-checker in OE doesn't work. So a spell checker would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

So I'd like suggestions on an email client that will be sync across windows and android platforms. I currently use Thunderbird on my PC, with a lot of filters and folders set up to help me organize my emails. I'd like to NOT have to customize all of these settings again, in a different program. Does anyone know if there is a program that has both a windows and android version in which those two versions will 'talk' to each other?

Answer:Suggestions for an email client

Actually, imo, you are looking for your email provider to support IMAP instead or in addition to POP3.
The gmail.com provides both as do others.

The advantage of POP3 is for the email provider; saves email on their host only until you access the account at which time the inbox on their server is entirely downloaded to your device, eg: the PC. Once on the PC, you run directly into your issue, aka syncing.

The advantage of IMAP is for you; the email STAYS on the email providers host where it is accessible by ALL your devices. The individual emails are removed only when you DELETE them. So, you can read an email on your mobile, realize that you need to deal with it when you get home, and just close it. Later at home, you can re-read it, do whatever is necessary, and reply/delete as you desire.

ok, so my father has this old pop3 email from his job that he still uses.

he currently uses outlook express 6.0, which in my opinion has become obsolete and out dated.

so i'm looking for the most convenient and straight forward email client out there,
preferably free, and open-source.

so, what is in your experience, the most easy to use (not for tech savvy people) email client???

options : mozilla thunderbird, opera mail, the bat! .....
many thanks.

Answer:best email client programes

If it was me I would set him up with a modern Gmail account and have it pull in his POP3 account. But but but, if you must have a standalone app, Thunderbird is very nice. Also, if he is running Vista, Windows Mail isn't half bad for a simple Email app.

Hi everyone: I need to be able to choose my default email client to Outlook if possible so I can have it work ok with an application that needs to 'see' the default email client in order to send emails via it
(It sends invoices as attachment and is a Filemaker runtime solution).
It is not showing any email client in 'default programs'
Any suggestions gratefully received as I'm banging my head on this one!
Kind Regards,
Pete

Hi there,

I have a Yahoo email address but use my Email client to download my Email's. Is there anyway i can get my Email client (Outlook 2007) to just download my inbox and not the yahoo junk mail folder too? Because at the moment I'm having to log into yahoo via the web then delete my spam folder and then open my email client to download my emails.

Hope this makes sense?

Answer:Yahoo via Email Client

Log into your Yahoo account with your web browser and check the POP Access / Bulk mail options.

Answer:looking for a good email client

I have searched for a decent free email client for a few years now, and can't find one that suits my needs. Even paid clients don't seem to match up to my requirements. Some come close, but there's always something that breaks the deal. I currently use PocoMail, but it's no longer in development and wasn't made for anything newer than XP, though it does work fine on Win7. Eventually I will need another client, but have no idea what could replace Poco.

As for the Office 7 ribbon, I didn't like it at first but once I was basically forced to use it, it started to make sense and become easy to use. I now find it comfortable and in many ways better. Have you given it a fair chance?

Hi,

I recently installed mozilla firefox as an alternative to IE and Netscape (a resource hog).

I used to use Netscape mail as my email client. I don't want to use Outlook.

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable email client?

Thanks.
