Starcraft 2 reviews

Question: Starcraft 2 reviews

I'm thinking I rad in an earlier post in this thread, something about it, but just to re-hash. What's everyone thoughts about the new STARCRAFT? I
ve seen the trailers and reviews, I really liked the first 1, and BW, but I'm thinking the game is a lil' out dated. When it came out like 10-12 years ago, it was fantastic, but 12 years later.... I'm not so sure about it. I'm sure most all the real gamers out there have played the first one... so us being the consumers, I'd like to hear everyones thoughts.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Starcraft 2 reviews

Why people jsut follow the beautifull graphs of this video game.

Broodwar is and will be the best strategy game ever made, more than 7 years in World Cyber Games and still being the best.

Starcraft II make me cry, isn't like broodwar and never will be!

The fine folks over at Hardware Secrets are pretty well known for their excellent reviews of different hardware, including power supplies. They are one of the few sites that really knows how to test a power supply. There is MUCH more to it than hooking up a digital multimeter to a spare molex connector and then running an assortment of load/idle tests and recording the output from the multimeter. Most sites will not test the noise and ripple in a PSU (and "noise" here does not mean the sound from the fan, it means "line noise"; a decent metaphor would be "static"). I recently read a review where the testing uses only a voltmeter, and the reviewer states the power supply had a bit more ripple than he would like to see. :confused Without an oscilloscope, it is impossible to measure ripple, so it would appear that the reviewer is talking out his a** and has no idea what "ripple" really means or what it is. This review can be found here, the "ripple" comment is on page 5, on page 6 you'll see the PSU received a "Top Rank Award". However, Hardware Secrets reviewed this same power supply (review is here), and you'll see that it miserably failed the ripple/noise testing, and in fact the unit burned up when trying to draw the advertised 750w the unit is rated for. Yet the other reviewer gave it a "Top Rank Award". So- all ranting aside, do not trust any power supply review that doesn't include '... Read more

Hi,

Good report except that setting a voltmeter to AC and measuring a DC voltage will give you a reading of the AC component (Ripple) riding on the DC.

Question: The starcraft lag

It seems like lot of people have this lag problem.
It lags when there is more then 2 players in the game (including me)
I can't see text of other players, I can only see the host typing.
I download map like 2 minutes later after joinning.
And when it counts down to start, there is a extra 5 sec lag or something,
When in game, everyone lags out or is lagging if still in the game.
I don't seem what's the problem..

1 thing I figured out is hosting a game doesn't cause any sorts of lag or problem. it runs fine and smooth. just joining is the problem.

My computer specs
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU
E8500 @ 3.16GHz
3.16 GHz. 2.00 GB of RAM

If they're hooked up to the same router, forwarding the same port on both computers won't work. One will cancel the other out.

Question: StarCraft

Well , I've recently got back into starcraft ( after 6 years ) and there is still a massive online community for it. So the chances are someone here plays it.

So my question therefore is ; Who here plays StarCraft?

If someone does reply ;

Favourite Race?

Favourite tactic?
Mine has to be a mass hydra drop with Overlords , Oo's , or masss zerglings right near the start .. "ZERG RUSH OMGZLOLOLOL11!!!" ..Yeah.

Yeah that is all. Reply's please.

Answer:StarCraft

ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!

I play Starcraft still, when I get the urge. I have it playing from an image on the HD of my 3.5GHz P4, so its wicked fast (I don't even see the welcome screens )

My favourite race would have to be Zerg. I love my Mutilisks and Guardians. If the army I'm facing has an underdeveloped air force, or if you can destroy it before they do yours (zerg no good for air-to-air combat) then they're screwed.

Oftentimes, I'll try to infest a terran command centre, and then I can just swarm their air force with suicide bombers, then follow up the the Guardians for the kill.

Starcraft will never die. Its TOO classic.

Anyone have any word on the status of Starcraft:Ghost?

Question: Starcraft on LAN

I am trying to play Starcraft on my network here. There is a computer with Windows XP, the other is Windows ME. On the XP I installed the full Starcraft, with Brood War expansion, and on the ME I installed a spawn.

So I go to Multiplayer in the XP, start a game. Then I go to multiplayer in the ME, and it doesn't see that there is an open game.

What can be happening?

You need to try to istall the full on the ME computer and a spawn on the XP computer. I had the same problem and when I did it that way it worked..

alright so i had found a post here that no one really answered and i cant get ahold of the creator but here is what he said

"Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my start craft lags issue. The problem is when I join games my dl sometimes wont start or if it does it takes about 2 minutes to start downloading a map if I need it. And if i actually get into a game it lags really bad. Its wierd because it makes everyone else lag somehow, somtimes to the point where it will disconnect all of them and I will still be in game and it will end in either victory or draw but I have not been disconnected yet. Also the whole time I'm in star craft playing i have one green ping the whole time. And I believe that its not my computer because it passes the requirements by far. Please help!"

so my ping is fine in the chat but when i get in a game it lags. so, i am on a wireless network but i have taken and plugged directly into the modem and it did not fix it. im on windows xp. the game worked fine when i was on dialup and when i went to my brothers, who also has dsl. but that was last year. i rebuilt my computer since then but i havent gotten the updates for it yet. could that be part of it? please help
aim m:aikb38 and i will be checking here. thanks

Answer:starcraft lag on dsl.

When you download a map on Starcraft, it is suppose to start downloading from the fastest connection in the room. However, sometimes it will not, and sometimes the fastest connection in the room is a 14.4K dial-up.

Same with the in game lag, it might be caused by someone else or the server rather than you, even though you are being affected by it. One bad apple ruins the bunch.

But if it is a persistent problem, I don't know what could be causing it, and I would recommend re-installing Star Craft and getting the updates you mentioned. Also, try playing another game online and see if you still have latency issues so you can tell if its only StarCraft or if it's your connection.

Hi All,

I created this thread as an FAQ for the release of the new AVG 8. I thought we could use this for any discussions or issues about the new release. Here is what is known so far:

1.) It is unknown as to whether or not AVG 7.5 users will be automatically updated to AVG 8, although a comment on the board said they didn't think an auto update pushed will be forced.

2.) It has been known to be buggy and slow according to some of the C-Net reviews. This could be the sign of a new release or hopefully not a bad omen of what is to come from a once-great company.

3.) There are 3 versions of AVG 8.0:

a.) AVG Anti-Virus 8.0 Commercial Version: This is a paid version that includes Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Resident Shield, Root Kit Remover Real Time Protection with a Link Scanner that scans sights before you go to them and a Link Search, that indicates the safety of a sight before you go to them similar to McAfee Sight Adviser.

b.) AVG Internet Security 8.0: A paid version with all the features of (a) plus a software firewall

c.) AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.0: The free version that includes Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware scanning and the Link Search (Site Adviser clone)

Please indicate in this thread: (Discuss each that applies to you.)

1.) The version of AVG 8 you have installed.

2.) Any problems with the download or installation

3.) Any slowdown of your system.

Hi guys, got hit by a BSOD during sc2. Attached dumps

Answer:BSOD during starcraft 2

Seems that there is a problem with the CPU itself

Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results

According to your dump file the issue is with your Processor. This occurs when the processor is non-responsive or is deadlocked.

Possible Solutions :

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust

But its mainly caused by a defective CPU or outdated BIOS

If you don't know what Starcraft is it's a computer video game that is an RTS (real time strategy). It's basically a game where you control and build armies. My issue comes in when my army gets big and when i play with multiple friends ex. i can only play 1 vs 1 and when i play 2 vs 2 or more it gets really laggy. I was wondering which part of my computer i would need to upgrade to have this run smoother without lag. Is it cpu, ram, graphics card, etc?

Answer:Lagging in Starcraft 2

What specs are your computer?
If it's lagging then maybe it's your internet connection. If one person has a slow connection then it would affect everyone that is playing.

Hello guys. I have a problem.

I have adsl 2+ connection

Modem: Zyxel P660HTW2 EE (i didnt find this model in american us.zyxel.com, maybe this model only for Russia, so I provide you russia page of this model.)
http://zyxel.ru/content/catalogue/classifier/1/11/32/728
If you want, you can translate it with google tranlator.
And thats, I think P660HTW2 is a clone of P-660HW-T1 v2 (screens are very similar)

Firmware 340AZC3D0 (19.03.2010) - late

Main page 192.168.1.1 http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7927/45301802.jpg
I open all ports (nat -> port forwarding -> default server 192.168.1.33 - this open all ports in my ip.
PFPortChecker show, that all ports open, in particular 6112 TCP & UDP. http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/2717/48768094.jpg
StarCraft listening on 6112 port, checked with TCPView, X-Netstat professional, and by command "netstat -aon -p UDP" through cmd.exe
But people cant join me and 2x2 is lagging.

So, then i google my problem and found this http://yigitgursoy.wordpress.com/
I use that command "-ip nat timeout UDP 6112 10". Didn't work. Then I decrease 10 to 0, and people join me!
I experimented, 0-3 seconds - people can join me, more - cant.
But anyway, 2x2 lagging...

I think my router for starcraft must be more configured through telnet commands, like http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=18601081656&postId=185993181271&sid=3000#0 or http://www.funofmath.com/weblog/2007/04/starcraft-and-nat.html#c6918... Read more

Answer:StarCraft on ZyXEL through NAT

Something new...

Now I test on D-Link 2500U in router mode.
1x1 and 2x2 without lag and works fine.
If port forward has done, i can join the game and create "2 on 2" and people join me.
If port forward hasn't done, i can only join "2 on 2".

It means, my problem in my modem. One clever person said: "Zyxel modems has many hidden parametres that are not available on telnet or web-interface. Some of them are not compatible with 2x2 starcraft game."
He has the same problem with his P660 RT2. And the update firmware solve his problem, but he said: "on some models that problem still remains".

So I wonder, what parametres are not compatible with 2x2 starcraft...
If we'll know that, the issue go away.

So I play a lot of StarCraft II (pretty much the only game I play) and I have some fps "issues" for the most part the game runs fine on any settings. It's when I get into big battles (200 vs 200) that I run into some major fps issues. Now being that I am a competitive player I play the game on all low settings at 1440x900 resolution.

I just want to be able to hold a solid 60 fps no matter what is taking place in game.

Specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.2 ghz

MOBO: GA-870A

RAM: 8 gigs of DDR3

GPU(s): Two AMD Radeon 6750's (I know that StarCraft II can't take advantage of multiple gpu's)

PSU: Thermaltake 750w

HDD: 1TB Western Digital

OS: Windows 7 64bit

So as you can tell I'm looking around to figure out exactly what it is that needs to be upgraded to get better performance (StarCraft II is my main focus) my price range is around 300$ depending on what part(s) need upgrading.

Thanks.

Answer:Starcraft II bottleneck?

I really don't know about Starcraft, as it is not one of the games I play. But, from looking at your specs, I would suspect the GPU. Trying to read between the lines, Starcraft must be GPU bound and it does not recognize multiple cards. That would mean that it is using one card and that card is not up to the job. That is my guess. I think you may get better help in the Games section of the forums, Gaming - Windows 7 Help Forums. If it is of any help, this is a list of the best rated GPU cards on Newegg in the $200-$300 price range. In my opinion, the 660TI is the best card around considering price/performance. And no I'm not an Nvidia fanboy, I own both Nvidia and AMD.

Hello
My com is a 2 month old self built computer and i am having a issue with it
it keep crashing when using certain programs and now in some cases will not get past the windows loading screen when i restart the computer
can some one please tell me what is the issue

Answer:Crashing When using Starcraft 2

Seems many StarCraft 2 crashes are video card related. Check the cooling on your video card make sure the card is staying cool while playing the game.

I would also get a bigger power supply the one you have is right on the edge for the build you have.

Answer:Starcraft battlechest help!

I am not certain if your issue is with an access issue or if it is possible a file is corrupted. I have two options for you try:

If you're using Vista, installing on the administrator account doesn't mean it will install with administrator capabilities therefore, when the WoW install creates two folders, it cannot access them completely.

To fix this, turn on User Account control on (if it was off before) and go through the normal install routine, except this time Windows asks for your permission. Not only will you do this, but in the two folders WoW creates, you will give your user account and the "TrustedInstall" full access. To do this, click properties, GOTO settings, then edit settings.

The two folders are default:
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft.temp
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Blizzard Entertainment.temp

Hope this helps.
Honestly, I have not seen such an error before. My other suggestion would have the game support try and resolve this for you. Blizzard has a pretty good support section.

Here is the direct link to submit your issue. As this is their game, they should easily resolve this for you.

I have a hp a6700f system that I recently installed Starcraft on. When I try to play though I can tell it is switching to the games resolution, color depth etc. but once the game actually starts there is no display it is all black. However If I boot in safe mode It shows all aspects of the game with no problem. My system is 100% stock no other graphics cards.

I thought this may be due to out dated drivers so I updated the drivers for my graphics card. Once that was done though the computer will not display anything once windows has started it just goes black and I have a no signal error. With the new drivers I can go back to safe mode and everything looks fine again. I have installed the old drivers that I know work and gone back to the new ones multiple times and through multiple avenues to no avail. Incedintaly now when I go back to my old drivers that I had before I no longer have the option of using Aero which I had been using with no problems before.

my dxdiag with the working drivers says I am running direct3d no problem but directdraw and AGP texture acceleration are "not available" . In Safe mode all three are "not available" but as I said before the game works with no problems.

here are specs for my system:

processor brand AMD
processor model Phenom X4 Quad-Core
memory 4 GB
hard drive capacity 500 GB
optical drive DVD?RW/DVD-RAM/DVD?R Double Layer
operating system Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Service ... Read more

Answer:Can't display Starcraft

So after trying yet again to update my drivers for the video card. I was unable to ever get windows to display normally. I tried reinstalling my original drivers in safe mode as I had done before, but for whatever reason that did not work this time as it has in the past.

I was forced to do a system restore, back to a point about a month ago. after the system restore, my Aero is back up and working properly.

here is my current dxdiag log

Hello,
When I went to download Starcraft 2, I wanted to download it to a 32g stick drive. However, when I realized this was not going to work, I wanted to download it to my harddrive, but now when I go to download the client it trys to go straight to the stick drive even if it isn't there. How can I change this please. I bought the digital version. And it says that I may not have permission to change its destination.
Thank you in advanced

Edit: It says "Storage can not be started. You may not have permission to change file destination"

Question: Starcraft 2 loop

K so I installed Starcraft 2 when it was sone it downloaded the patchs then I click Starcraft to play and it says Starcraft 2 requires a patch to play and it says hit ok or cancle when I hit ok the game tries to start up then it stops and says Starcraft 2 needs to install a patch and does this over and over any ideas of how to fix this I have windows xo and all the required specs for the game it just won't let me play .... Frustrating

Answer:Starcraft 2 loop

As annoying as it may be, it might be easier to completely uninstall it and start again. You may find that there was a slight corruption in the patching process when you ran it, thus causing the software to think it hasn't been patched when it has.

Either that, or go directly to the Starcraft II website and see if you can manually download the patch installer, then download it and run the patcher that way. I would also have a check on their forums incase anyone else has had a similar problem, it may be a known issue with a fix / solution on the site.

Those two just dont work together. Anytime i have zonealarm on and the starcraft CD in, sometimes the computer will just freeze until i either deactivate zonealarm or starcraft. This never happened before until just recently.

I am running the latest updates for both. And i put anything that is starcraft in the zonealarm program protection as level 3(trusted).

I am using windows XP.

Answer:Starcraft and zonealarm

Are you referring to play online, or on a LAN? Starcraft does not use the typical TCP/IP communication protocol while playing on a local network, rather, it uses Netware's protocol, IPX/SPX. This presents a whole slew of new ports and packet types to pass through your firewall.

If you were to follow this link, you would be directed to a page where you can download the user guide for Zone Alarm (assuming you're using the free version - look around for others), which will tell you how to configure your firewall to allow Starcraft to work.

It doesn't look that graphically demanding, but who knows.

I'm also pretty psyched because it's been long enough. The new units and abilities will definitely bring more strategies. I don't like the name "Protoss Mothership" though, it doesn't seem like anything a Protoss would name a ship.

Hi guys I've been getting fairly frequent BSOD's while playing Starcraft 2. It started happening a few days ago while i had Windows 8 Pro x64 installed on my HD. I've had Windows 7 for years now and after troubleshooting Starcraft itself and then re installing windows 8 to no avail i re installed windows 7 hoping it would fix it. So today i installed 7 then downloaded and installed Kaspersky then got my drivers then installed Starcraft and then in the middle of my second game i got a BSOD and i didnt manage to see which error code it was but i have the dump file and everything. I'm thinking my hard drive is on its way out because lately its been making it's accessing data noise every couple seconds and sometimes when its idling for an extended period of time it starts working hard like I'm starting up or installing something and when i am installing something its working noise is a lot louder than it used to be. Its an old Hitachi 640gb drive. I'm hoping to get some second opinions and some feedback before i buy another HD and then have the same problem.

I just built my computer and I installed SCII, but every time I try to load the "custom games" menu it crashes at the map list screen, I tried a complete reinstall of the game but it didnt help at all. I adjusted the multiplier on the IGP and its seemed to change it a little bit but still crashes. it also crashed during a campaign mission as well

the error code it says is:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (e22w8x64.sys)

has anyone else had this problem??? if so how did you fix it??

Answer:Starcraft II keeps crashing

MSI USA

A quick search for that e22w864.sys name turned up this result. Turns out there is a known issue with the Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service. Use the guide to disable it and should solve your issue.

Anyone here still play it? I'm surprised so many people are on bnet playing it. It didn't ge tthe best reviews when it came out but now it's a classic! The 3 races are so different, whenever you get bored you can just swich your race and your no longer bored. Starcraft is a MUCH better game then Warcraft 3 in my opinion, could use a grapical overhaul tho

Someone also told me my computer can only use 3 gigs , so NOT to get 2 2 gig sticks ? anyone ever hear of that? i thought if it HAS the slots you can pack it with the RAM ? its dd2 i believe.

So theres 2 slots, why wouldnt it make use of 2 2gig sticks anyone know

Answer:StarCraft 2 FPS Problems

I'm not familiar with Starcraft but it will help if you can tell us your current CPU, GPU, RAM, and Virtual memory usage whilst playing it

Task Manager will show you the CPU and RAM stats; Start > run Dxdiag > first page = Page file used/available will tell us the Virtual memory stats, GPU-Z will enable you to see the GPU load in use.

Can you find your motherboard make and model # please, it'll enable us to be sure about what CPU you could upgrade to.

Re. the 3GB memory limit, with all 32-bit Operating Systems there's a limit of 4 GB of RAM that can be utilised; this is only a rough figure as the BIOS can reserve some of the 'top' of the RAM for hardware like the graphics card(s), etc. For example: if you were to add 2x2GB to your machine right now, you'd probably see that Windows will report and use somewhere between 3 and 3.5GB. If you had a 1GB graphics card, then this would reduce to around 3GB, 2x1GB cards = 2GB or so usable RAM

The good news is that a 512MB (DDR5 is best) card is fine for most games and, if you really must use ALL of the 4GB RAM, you could upgrade to a 64-bit operating system.

The bad news is that you might have to lay out $200 or so for a good graphics card, similar for a better CPU AND the full 4GB of RAM PLUS a 64-bit version of Windows to get some of the latest games running well Much depends on the screen resolution that you'll want to play at and the engine of the game.

alright well i just recently started playing starcraft again.. just to past time when im bored .. this is the first time ive played since i got my WRT54GS router. What ive discovered is when i create games no one joins because the latency is too high.. i use to be able to create it and have ppl join before the router. How do i fix this?

What ive found out is that is you must allow this:

Allow port 6112 TCP and UDP out and in

but honestly i have no clue.. i am on my router's page which is 192.168.1.1 and the connection type is DHCP (automatic Configuration)... can i change it with static ip or no?

i tryed port fowarding by putting info in

Application: Starcraft
Start: 6112
end: 6112
Protocol : Both
Ip Adress: the Ip adress of my computer
Enable *checked*

Please help me out.

Starcraft is notorious for being terrible at support with routers.

My brother and I both have our own copies of Starcraft. What we want to do is be able to play in the same game, but we can't do this unless someone else hosts. Even then, it's very shakey and often one of us gets disconnected. The reason is because we are using the same IP, and Blizzard's servers don't like that.

We have an extra IP address that isn't being used right now because we're behind a router. What I want to do is set it up so that we can use that extra IP, and play in the same games. I just have absolutely no idea how to do that while behind a router. We have a total of 6 computers connected, so a Switch/Hub isn't an option. The router is a D-Link 524.

So summary: We want to be able to use two static IPs behind a router without interfering with the other computers that are connected.

We also have an extra router that we could use if it can be applied to helping us.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Starcraft and routers.

I believe the problem lies in port forwarding. For BW you need to forward ports 6112-6119 or something. Since you have two private IP's that need these ports forwarded to them there lies the problem. The easiest solution that you can try, is maybe to put one of the computers in the DMZ and try forwarding the ports to the other computer. I kind of doubt this will work, but it sure is worth a try as it will cost you zero money, and very little time.

Hi everyone,

Starcraft 2 has been working for me for about 3 weeks, never had a single problem, until today. I tried to play once earlier, and it randomly closed, with now error or any indication of why. Now, any time I try to play, it will work perfectly for anywhere from 5-15 minutes, and then BSOD.

I haven't installed any software, or done any driver changes since it last worked properly, so I have no idea what would have caused it. I have since updated my video driver, done all windows updates, and checked for a new BIOS version (there wasn't one), but none of these things have helped.

I have had 2 different BSOD's, most say "dxgmmsl.sys", but I have gotten a few that say "fltmgr.sys" ones.

I have also tried monitoring the temperature of the GPU thinking it might have been an overheating issue, but it stayed relatively low (around 40-50 C max).

Any insight will be greatly appreciate... Read more

Hello, I just bought the Starcraft Battle Chest (again) and downloaded the installer and downloaded from online, since I have no DVD drive in my laptop. Everything worked fine, installing and everything. But, when I hit on play starcraft it gives me a directdraw error. "Starcraft was unable to switch video modes. To correct this problem, please set dektop area to 640 x 480 and Color Palette to 256 colors and try running starcraft again." I use windows 7, on a Sony Vaio vpcx115kx. I went to my resolution, and there was no Color Palette and it would not let me change my desktop area to 640 x 480. I went through your help artice, I updated my Directx, I tried everything. Help?

PS. I also left clicked and tryed Run as Admin and Run in 256 colors and run in 640 x 480 screen resolution. Help quickly!

Answer:Starcraft Directdraw help

To change the colour palette, go back to the resolution window. Click "advanced settings" mid right hand side. Click "list all modes" Scroll up, and it should giver youthe required setting.

Starcraft does not run too well in Win 7, mainly because the usual hi res modes are not supported. If WILL work, but it takes some time to get there sometimes.

Question: Starcraft enemy AI

You think there's a way to increase the AI of the computer's team on Starcraft or other similar games?

When I have totally outnumbered the enemy and I want them to recover somewhat by rebuilding and creating more trooops and stuff, they won't head to another locatoin where there's an abundance of minerals and gas. I tried sending out an SCV to try to coax them to the area but as they say, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink".
I think it's fun (albeit a little cruel) to almost eliminate the enemy and fall back and let him recover. When everything is gone, that's when I'll strike.

Also, the enemy seems to have it's AI misplaced. By that, I mean that the enemy won't move to a resource-rich land but they know the layout of the land the first second of the game. They don't explore trying to find me in the blackness. They know right where I am instantly. I checked to see if they have radar capability later in the game. They didn't. It's not fair because I have to scout out for them while they know where I am.

Also, one side note: I was playing a custom senario once and I was assigned the green team. I haven't been able to see the color green on teams since that match. Sure, I've seen teal, blue yellow, brown, violet, red, white and blue but I've yet to see green again.

Well, not sure if anyone plays Starcraft 2, but in W10 there is major lag with the game compared to playing it on W8.1 or W7, and the cause of the issue is the XBOX crAPP that is imbedded within the operating system. Even if you haven't used the APP or have an XBOX account for some reason it is the culprit behind the just enough lag in SC2 that it disrupts game play, especially in intensive online battles.

Here is the source article:
Windows 10 vs. Windows 8.1 vs. Windows 7 Performance - TechSpot

The quote is on the last page:
Windows 10 vs. Windows 8.1 vs. Windows 7 Performance > Faster, Slower, Better? - TechSpot

On the gaming front, I found strange input lag in StarCraft II. It wasn't hugely noticeable but scrolling and commands took slightly longer than they did in Windows 8.1, just enough that in a competitive game it felt sluggish.
After a quick Google search I found a number of users complaining about the same thing and all sources blamed Windows 10's Xbox application which is built into the OS and cannot be removed via conventional methods.
Despite never running this app or having an Xbox account to actually use it, it appears this was my problem. Fortunately, there's a Powershell command to disable the Xbox app and doing so eliminated the lag, allowing StarCraft II to play like it did on Windows 8.1. It was a disappointing discovery, but I'm glad it was relatively easy to overcome with some help from the Internet.

Can two computers, with one ip adress, on the same linksys router, using a cable connection play on batle.net at the same time in the same game? is that at all possible.

Answer:Starcraft and router

My buddy and I play from here at my home or at his home with no probs. We play Diablo II on battle.lag - oops, I mean battle.net and we don't have to do anything special at all. Both of us use Linksys BEFSR41 gateways on our network. We made no special changes to make it work.

Whenever I play Starcraft, about 20 minutes into the game my computer completely shuts off. People have said it was because of my RAM. How do I determine the problem?

Answer:Starcraft problems.

Completely shuts down? I would suspect overheating with either your video or cpu.

I just recently re-installed StarCraft (my drive broke when my dad re-partitioned it), and since then the sound hasn't been working correctly. I can listen to the intro fine, but when I get to the menu, all sounds just stop. I don't get that little noise when you click on a menu item, and I dont get any sounds in-game. And when I go to the sound menu in game, the music and sound bars are grey, and I can't adjust them. Help!

Question: Starcraft Locks Up

Whenever I try to play Starcraft it’ll suddenly at random (seemingly) loop a bizarre sound while the screen is frozen and refuses to respond to keyboard commands. The crashes at this point seem to have absolutely nothing to do with the amount of units on screen or the amount of time playing. I have played the entirety of Crysis, Call of Duty IV, F.E.A.R. and some of Bioshock without a single problem.

Here’s my computer specs:
OS: Windows XP Home Edition (32-bit) Service Pack 3
CPU: G0 q6600 2.4 (Overclocked to 3.0 GHz)
CPU Fan: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler
Video Card: evga 8800GTX 768mb
RAM: 1GB x 4 Patriot Extreme ddr2 (5-5-5-12) (PDC24G6400ELK)
Motherboard: ABIT IP35 Pro
Hard Drive: 2 x 320 GB Seagate 7200.10
Power Supply: Cooler Master iGreen Power 500W
CASE: ANTEC 900 which features a 120mm fan 1x 200mm fan on top, and 4x other 120mm fans
DVD/CD Drive: LG max speed – LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S
NIC: Gigabit

Solutions I have tried:
1. Compatibility mode.
2. Driver Cleaner Pro (eliminates leftover nvidia files after uninstalling and then I reinstalled)
3. Not having my processor on overclock.
4. Using replays to find a repeatable point that crashes but this doesn’t work.
5. Tried another Brood War disk.
6. Tried reinstalling.
7. Turned Power Management off.
8. I installed the latest video drivers.

Right now I am running a computer far more than capable of running the game, and I'm using my college's T1 connection and I'm still getting lag. In game I see everyone lagging and I have to end up dropping them and get disconnected. When I join a game it refuses to dl the map so I end up getting banned. I was thinking it might have something to do with the college server, being behind some kind of proxy or something that isn't allowing me to receive Starcraft data or something like that.

Somewhat recently, my computer's gaming performance has dropped significantly, making many games unplayable. I just recently replaced my HD 5770 with an HD 7770, and I replaced my old PSU thinking that might have been the problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers to no effect. Can anyone help me with this problem? What sort of information do I need to provide?

Answer:0 FPS when playing StarCraft II on Low.

I built the computer about a year ago, and it ran Skyrim and StarCraft on High with no major issues. Here are some of the specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon II x3 3.3Ghz
RAM: 2x2 GB
PSU: 520W 80+ rated Antec PSU
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 7770
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Question: Starcraft Hackers

Has anyone else played starcraft recently and noticed how many people use hacks??? I can't even join a game anymore and not see at least one hack being used by some tard.

You might want to watch out for people using mineral hacks on Zerg, map hacks, and other stupid hacks.

There used to be a tool called penguin plugin, but WGTour purchased the rights to it I think... WGTour sucks anyways. Half their website doesn't work and it's been like a year or more.

*Sigh*... hopefully Blizzard makes a patch soon.

I found my old copy of Starcraft, and I wanted to play it. I put the CD in the drive, and the auto-run didn't work. So I opened the CD, and ran the setup file, but when I tried to run the setup file, it didn't work. All I could hear was the drive spinning, like it was trying to load something. It did this for a good while, and I took the CD out and tried again. Same problem, if anyone could help me it would be appreciated.

Answer:Starcraft Cd Problem

I had somewhat of a similar problem; try to see if there are any Starcraft files previously on your computer. If there are any, delete them. That solved the problem for me, let us know if that helped or not.

One of the reasons I got a w510 is that I'm a part time gamer.  Unfortunately, it's looking like this machine is incapable... Is anyone running Startcraft 2 with any success by chance?  Whenever I get the screen after winning a mission, I experience an instant full system shutdown, straight to black.  Doesn't appear to be hardware related because it is perfectly repeatable. I'm running the latest Lenovo supported drivers.  8955.

Answer:Starcraft 2 Crashing

I updated the BIOS from 1.15 to 1.24, and that seemed to do the trick... Video drivers still on 8955.
