thousands of emails in gmail spam

Question: thousands of emails in gmail spam

cant i delete all the emails in the spam folder instead of only 100 at a time?

Preferred Solution: thousands of emails in gmail spam

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: thousands of emails in gmail spam

Hi

So if you click in the spam folder the link "Delete all spam messages now" it doesnt delete all spam messages?

To be honest if your getting 1000s of spam emails a day/week/month I would be creating a new Gmail account as that one will only keep getting those volumes of spam as its now on many spam email lists, which is why its wise to keep your main email account only for friends and create a sperate one/s for signing upto forums, newletters etc

My Gmail account started sending out spam from my email. I believe it's related to this Epsilon breach. I have changed my email password and deleted any suspicious emails. Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks

Answer:Gmail account sending out spam emails to contacts

If you've changed your password and no further e-mails get sent out then you should be fine.

Hello,
I have four MSN email accounts and on only one of them I am having a big problem. The emails saved in the "stored on my computer" folder are multiplying at an amazing rate. The last count was 6100+. At first I couldn't delete them at all, the computer would freeze, then I was able to delete about half of them. Within about five minutes, they were all back and more. Needless to say, it is bogging down my computer and I can't get to any mail on that account. I use AVG Free Edition as my antivirus protection. I have run Spybot, and online scans using Avast!, Panda , McAfree, Housecall, Ewido and Kapersky. None of them found anything wrong.
This is my Hijack This log and Startup list....I think there are several supicious files but I don't want to do anything until an expert looks at it.
I apprecate any help you can provide.

Answer:Thousands of emails

No one ever responded to my question, so I will post what I had to do to fix this problem in case others have the same problem.
Within a couple more days, my computer had tens of thousands of copies of my stored emails. The stored emails were replicating so fast, I couldn't use my computer at all. I tried every software I could get my hands on to find a virus, worm, spyware, etc. All of them except Spysweeper said there was no problem. Spyware found four "suspicious" items and I deleted them but it didn't make any difference to the email problem.

The only alternative I had was to completely delete my MSN software, remove all stored messages that we scattered throughout my computer, hours and hours of tedious work because the computer would only let me delete about 50 at a time. If I tried to remove more at a time, I got an error and the messages would start to be recopied again. I can now access my email through Hotmail. I had to get new email addresses also. At least I was able to get my computer functioning again without losing everything. I still have no idea what was going on!

I guess it didn't sound very important on this site, but it was a disaster on my end. I have gotten wonderful advice on this site before and have made donations because I was so pleased with the help I received both for home and my office computers.

This time no one responded at all.

Hello,

I'm posting this for a friend so I hope you can help. Basically, every time he sends/receives his emails in Outlook there are literally thousands of spam emails flooding the inbox. I've ran a few anti spyware, and he has Norton Antivirus/Internet Security installed. The anti spyware found a few things but nothing too harmful. The virus scan came up with nothing. Other than the email spam the computer runs fine. I couldn't run Panda ActiveScan like it said in the sticky, because the "Scan Now" button didn't do anything. Windows is updated fully also.

Here is the Hijackthis log, with the extra.txt file attached. If you need any more information let me know.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Same problem as I had 2 months ago. Then I posted my problem here, and after a few days my computer was "clean". I have tried to undergo the same procedure as I did then, but still the problem will not vanish.
My email-scanner are scanning hundreds of outgoing emails "sent" from my machine. And in reply I get hundreds of "User unknown"-emails from various email-servers around the world.
After consulting som "experts" they told me to use "HiJack This", and post the log file on this forum. :

Answer:Help .. Thousands of outboing emails are being scanned ....

Hello again svesa,

We're going to have to go deeper on this as previous scans did not reveal anything.

Please copy this page to Notepad and save to your desktop for reference as you will not have any browsers open while you are carrying out these instructions.

Download combofix from one of these locations:http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
Do not run it yet.

----------------------------

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exeDoubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:

This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list

Hi All,

I'm trying to find a free software that Cleans up Outlook duplicate emails, calendar, contacts, tasks, etc for me. I use to have something like it but can't remember the name of the software. Anyone know of one I can use?

Answer:Removing Thousands of Duplicate Emails/Tasks/Calendar From Outlook

Hi MasterNe0

What version of Outlook are you using?

At www.slipstick.com use the key words: remove duplicates
most of the results were trials and not freeware.

At least one tool was free:
Outlook Duplicate Items Remover 1.4
http://www.vaita.com/ODIR.asp

You might also consider making a copy of the .pst file before running any tools, just in case of unexpected or undesired results.
Let us know if one of those works for you, or not.

The question really says all about what I want to do, or need help on. I recently signed up for a new outlook account to try out the new outlook preview and I've set up gmail to automatically forward new messages to my outlook account so that I can use outlook to manage my gmail account.

Do any of you know how I would be able to forward the old messages, and not the new ones, to my outlook? I already know that they can be fetched into outlook by outlook's very own service, forwarding would be faster, so..?! Also, since I now use outlook to send email on behalf of my gmail account, how do I make it sync each email I send using outlook with my gmail - so that gmail has it all?

TY in advance. Please do help.

My emails look like spam to some spam detection software. They are not spam. The problem appears to be coming from this line in the email header:

Received: from jbx241yz (failure[71.194.179.15])
by comcast.net (rwcrmhc12) with SMTP

jbx241yz is the name of my computer. I am using a Comcast cable modem to a NETGEAR wireless router to my desktop Gateway computer. NETGEAR says it is not caused by them. Comcast says it is not caused by them. My email ISP server had whitelisted me so my email can get delivered within their system. I am part-time university faculty and one of my students is getting a spam flag on my emails.

The NETGEAR guy said there must be client-server software running on my computer. I can't see what it might be. I was using McAfee virus and firewall. Gave it up for AVG. That changed the header to what you see now. With McAfee, after jbx241yz it said "Server unknown"

Any help is much appreciated.

Question: Gmail SPAM!

Recently, I have been being BOMBARDED with SPAM. I know that quite a few e-mail services allow you to block all incomming e-mail except the e-mail from those on your contact's list, but as far as I have been able to find, Gmail lacks this. Is there anyway I can control the SPAM that I have been getting lately?

Answer:Gmail SPAM!

Really? I thought gmail had a bulit in spam blocker or something... I Haven't got one spam email seince I opend my gmail accound a couple or years ago.

Can't you go in under your settings in gmail and go into the filters and customize them?
and if something comes in with the words "Lower your mortgage now" Gmail can automatically move them to the spam folder or delete them?

Question: gMail Spam

How did spammers get all my gMail addresses? How is that possible? Months ago, a site (not Google) where I was registered had a data breach, so I knew one of my gMail addresses had been compromised (all they got was an email address and that site's password...I did not have any other personal info on file). I immediately changed the password on my gMail account. Within 24 hours, I got my first phishing attempt in gMail. After a month or so of spam, I figured out how to report them to gMail (someone in this forum helped with that).

Now the spammers (I assume they are the same people since they are using the same schtick) are sending spam to all my other gMail accounts. It's pretty un-nerving that they 'know my other email addresses'. These accounts are not linked in any way to my 'main' email address.

I am running WinXP with Security Pac 3; there is a firewall in the router (with a REALLY strong password) and a firewall on the PC (I was told it was OK to have both on...that there would be no conflict); I use Microsoft Security Essentials and occasionally Malwarebytes; all software is checked weekly and kept up to date.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Question: Spam in Gmail

I have used Gmail for many years, downloading automatically to my in-box. Gmail has always very successfully retained any spam without me ever having to see it. ( I do monitor from time to time, but it is very rare for Gmail to get it wrong) Recently, I have had to give up XP, reluctantly upgraded to Win 7 (which I hate, by the way!) and therefore could no longer use Outlook Express. I have been forced to use Windows Live Mail - not a bad program, really, but now all Spam is coming down to my in-box, so that I have to manually delete loads of stuff. Admittedly Gmail do categorise it as Spam, but it does still arrive.Solution, suggestions, please?Who knows the solution - I am sure there is one!

Question: Gmail Spam

I am getting quite a lot of spam to my gmail account.I think it is all from the same spammer, because the emails all have the same kind of subject and contents. But the spam comes from different email addresses. Is there some way I can block this spammer? Thanks.

Answer:Gmail Spam

is 'No'. Everyone who knows about such things was aware that Gmail accounts would be an obvious target for spammers, and that's proving to be the case. Not everyone with a Gmail account has a problem, but huge numbers do, and the reasons are probably name-related. You're far less likely to be spammed if you have a very unusual prefix to your gmail suffix. There's not a great deal that you can do about it I'm afraid.

Question: Gmail SPAM?

What's happening to my Gmail account? Long time user of Gmail and can't recall getting SPAM email before. Usually that crap goes right into the SPAM folder which gets deleted automatically.

Yesterday and today in my Inbox I got about 20 SPAM emails? Don't know why? The only thing I've done differently is post something in the How-to Geek Forums. My email isn't displayed? So heart broken, if this continues.. by, by Gmail and Hello to MSN.

Answer:Gmail SPAM?

MSN mail is spammy too, besides being blinky.

Only my Yahoo never lets a single one into my Inbox. I'm amazed.

Google has a growing number of issues. I dont' trust them with my personal privacy any more, even if they do hold all of the world's knowledge. Best to keep signed out of anything Google when you do your daily searches. Otherwise you'll start noticing display ads in webpages for things you've searched.

My friend doesn't have Gmail, but insists she gets hit with spam when she receives email from Gmail users. Long story -- but we're working on a volunteer project and this has an effect on what we're doing.

Does anyone know if this could be true?

Thank you!

Answer:Getting spam from Gmail users?

Hi LeslieMB, and welcome to TSG.

Google policies prohibit users from sending spam, but I am not sure if Google takes any real time actions to prevent someone from sending spam. The owner of the account could be sending spam or someone could have hacked into the account and sent the spam.

Another, and more likely, possibility is that spammers can be sending their email while forging real or fake gmail addresses in the sender header information.

A couple of weeks ago my Gmail account stopped loading in Outlook, the message was Gmail was not accepting my password. I went to Google/Gmail and tried to log in there and I was sent to a page that said my account had been temporarily disabled. Of course there were a variety of reasons given for this including spam activity detected on the account.

I was given the option to give my phone number so I could be provided with a code to re-enable the account and also reset the password.

When I got into my Gmail account I found several e-mails that had been sent but bounced with links to pharmacological websites. It appears the e-mails were sent to addresses in my Gmail address book.

Now, today, I had the misfortune of my account posting to at least 20 of my friends' walls a message that had not been sent my me.

Unfortunately, I have to admit, I was not using best practices regarding passwords and both the Gmail account's former password and my FB account had the same password.

Attached are the logs. So far it appears to me that they are clean, I could be wrong.

Also, several weeks ago I uninstalled Comodo Antivirus; however, when I was running one of the scans, I can't recall which one, a message popped up and said Comodo was still running. I think it was Combofix that had the problem. I ended up having to allow it to run "at my own risk" because I guess the program couldn't shut it down.

Starting two days ago I received a sudden onslaught of 5,000 spam emails daily which has crippled my gmail so that genuine messages are slow and sporadic.
Please advise my best course of action.

Answer:Overwhelming gmail spam

Stop using your primary e-mail address in signing up for things online? You would be better off closing your current e-mail and creating a new one at this point.

I have a problem where an automated mail is sent from a third party software (SPAM) that goes to all my contacts in my address book.

What should I do?

I want to stop this program from sending automated messages. This is from a website Desktop Dating. It keeps sending a message that Did you receive my Invite to all my contacts.

How do I ensure that these mails do not go out.

Answer:Gmail sending SPAM to all my contacts

Wish I knew-the same exact thing has happened to my hotmail account and has sent this "invite" to my contacts on my hotmail account! I am very angry about this and when I tried contacting all of my contacts to let them know not to open the email invite to desktop dating that was supposedly from me, microsoft sent me a message saying I exceeded my 300 email messages a day so my email account is now suspended for 24 hours!!That is ridiculous because as now 374 other contacts on my list will not get the warning message about not opening up the desktop dating invite and thus their contact lists will probably be hijacked too because I can't warn them in time about this bogus email message. Let me know if someone tells you what to do--wish we could sue all these jerks for the problems they have caused us by their scams.

My wife is not getting any emails that originate from gmail. They go directly to the spam folder regardless of which email program is used. I have confirmed this with both Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird. No rules are set, yet they still go to spam. I deactivated her avast just in case that was doing it, but it still happens. I checked for viruses, but that didn't help either. I went to the cox.net server and deactivated anything I could find. No change.
Her laptop is a Lenovo with Windows 10 and Office 2010. I also looked for any Lenovo settings that may be doing it. Nothing.

Any ideas??

Change your email password. Does your router have a strong password? To reset the router to its default configuration. This can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router. Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds). If you don?t know the router's default password, you can look it up HERE.Note: After resetting your router, it is important to set a non-default password, and if possible, username, on the router. This will assist in eliminating the possibility of the router being hijacked again.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. How can I stop spam emails on my gmail account

Answer:why does my Gmail receive nothing but spam and not my yahoo?

I expect it's because Yahoo! has a good spam-filter and GMail doesn't have any spam-filter (or a very poor one). Any free email service is more prone to spam than an email service you pay for. Only Google can do something about it, not you. Just stop using Gmail if it really bothers you (and be careful where you disclose your email address in future. Only disclose it where it's unavoidable).

I'm not sure if this is a malware issue or not, had no idea where to post it. A couple of my friends have sent me messages (not through email) letting me know they are getting spam from my email address. And sure enough, when I logged into my email I got a ton of "delivery to the following recepient failed" messages".

This has happened twice within the last week or so, I'm sure all of my contacts are getting pretty annoyed by now, but I have no idea how to stop it!

Help?

Answer:My gmail is sending spam to my contacts list

I'm pretty sure that you will be better off by getting down all your contacts info > create a fresh email account. But if you wish to check for malware then you can do the following:

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet c... Read more

Hi,I have gmail and yahoo and i used to have hushmail until it was unactivated as i didn't go in it enough, and my mum has orange.Orange, yahoo, and hushmail never have spam except one's that ain't spam and i wonder why gmail does but as i have created an account for my mum. and i removed google buzz from her account as my mum would not like that, but it seems as so she isn't getting any spam unlike me who gets lots in gmail. But if i remove google buzz from my account, is it likely that i will get less spam as alot less random people would be able to find me?as i have noticed that with google buzz, you type the name and it goes through all the members with that name, just like facebook does.I know that lots of people use gmail and that is likely to be another reason but i am so fed up with stuff like 'someone hot on facebook is looking for you' and things like that which im certain is due to people finding me on buzz ain't it?

Answer:is google buzz responcable for gmail spam?

I use Gmail,no idea what Google buzz is,but I am assuming I haven't got it or are using it.As for spam I get about 10 a day, which I do not think is bad as I am not particularly careful where I post at least one of my email addresses, I do, like most people have several email addresses which are all centered on my Gmail account.

Hello, everyone.
When scanning documents on HP LaserJet MFP series printers at the company and send them to a specific e-mail adress, they go to the spam folder, on Gmail.
Does anyone know how to set the printer to send the scanned docs to the Inbox folder?
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Scanned documents going to spam folder on Gmail

Hi,

Unless you can find exactly why the e-mail is classified as spam to do changes on the mail server used the only option is to do it on the gmail side.

I see two options, one is to select those messages on gmail and classify them as no spam, after some time gmail will learn that the messages are legit.
The second option is to create a filter to match those messages and set the filter to never send those messages to spam.

A recently-discovered vulnerability in Gmail makes it susceptible to a ?man-in-the-middle? attack that would allow a spammer to send thousands of email through Google?s SMTP service while also bypassing current security measures designed to prevent Gmail spam abuse.

A flaw in Gmail that allows spammers to send a potentially unlimited number of messages is definitely a problem, but there's another, external factor that could exacerbate any potential spam attack.

Answer:spam emails

The only real way is to change your email address, and then inform only your friends and people that you want to contact. I have three addresses. One for friends and family only. One for Banks and trusted institutions, and one which I use as default when I need to give out email addresses. Tis can be changed at any time I choose. I get no spam, but I stick to the rules I have outlined above.

Forgive my ignorance, could someone explain to me what are the benefits of sending spam emails ? I receive quite a lot now, I think this is because I opened one by mistake quite a while ago. Is it just for the sake of it or is there financial gain. One thing I do know is that they are a b' nusiance.cheers

Answer:Spam emails, why ?

Supposedly for the same reason you receive junk mail through normal post.Emails cost nothing to send, so only have to get a few positive responses from there advertising to make it pay.

Hi there,
I am having trouble with spam emails being sent from my system. I have a HJT log ready, and I need help fast...this thing is sending mails out rather quickly, and I don't want to get blamed for spamming...
Would appreciate a fast response..

Answer:spam emails being sent from my pc...Need help!

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

Download HijackThis 1.99.1

Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file as your backups will not be safely stored.

Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

Run HijackThis and save your log file.

Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next post. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post as it will be removed).

Nothing?===========Hello While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although our MRT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, neither of us want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it.We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT ... My problem is that two of my users seem to be sending spam to the rest of the users...Does any body have any idea how I can prevent this??

I have done spyware checks etc etc on each work station, even shut every work station off, rebuilt one with a new XP Install, but still getting spam. So its not being produced from the PCs. Can the server be producing this? Or is it coming from else where? If thats the case, can I do anything about it?

I have a Toshiba Satellite running Vista. I just sent an email to a friend and noticed it sent out emails to everyone in my address book, most came back failure but some made it across. I can type in the link that it sent them, but do not want to cause anyone here any harm. It looks to just be spam. My computer has been running slow the last week, so I ran a complete scan with no errors through AVG.

What should I do?

Thanks In Advance,
Beth

Question: Spam Emails

In use B.T.Yahoo for my emails I have the main account and my wife has her account using her own log in details ie email address and password. The problem is she seems to get a lot of junk emails in her bulk in box yet I get hardly any.Tonight she had 185 junk emails in her bulk box.Why does she get them and not me and how do I prevent them.

Answer:Spam Emails

It seems as if you are already doing a fairly good job of avoiding them. Assuming that you have both been sensible with the format of your mail addresses -- johnsmith at tiscali.co.uk must get tons of spam! -- then it is wise to be careful about where and to whom your addresses go.Either that or there is a filter active on her account but not on yours -- check your webmail settings.

Question: spam emails

My computer sent out today from my comcast email about 35 spam emails. Of course all my friends are mad at me thinking I ruined their computers. Any idea on how to check my pc to insure this does not happen again...Thanks James

Answer:spam emails

Hello, It is unlikely the infected PC is your own PC. It is however possible it?s the PC of one of your contacts who complains of receiving spam messages from you. This is probably what is known as Spoofing E-mail spoofing is the forgery of an e-mail header so that the message appears to have originated from someone or somewhere other than the actual source. You can change your email passwords and run this scan to see if there is malware.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Question: Spam emails

I am getting seriously fed up with the amount of Spam emails I am receiving.Ok admittedly it?s partly my fault as I have been to some dubious sites I should not have gone to.But now they are seriously getting on my nerves.I downloaded the free trial version of Spam bully, which gave me the option of reporting the Spam emails, but this didn?t seem to do any good or stop them. One of the so called ISP?s I reported them to was called Apinec.com who just sent an automated reply that I didn?t fully understand with my limited technical knowledge saying it was nothing to do with them.So can somebody please tell me how I can stop these emails coming through and also how I can report them, as I do not want to change my email address? The other thing is my inbox on outlook. My emails used to go into my inbox all together at the bottom but now they enter the inbox alphabetically which means I have to scroll all the way through instead of them being in one place. So how do I change this back? Thanks in advanceIceman

I work for a charity and something has got into us. We are getting loads of spam (100 this morning) I am running Spamfighter and using a message rule to divert all the messages marked SPAM by Wanadoo so that most of it goes into a spam folder but it is still a nuisance and time waster and a lot of it is downright objectionable.A lot of them refer to failed emails that our computer is sending to random addresses. Is the only answer to change our email address? We are reluctant to do this due to the difficulty of notifying everyone who needs to email us.All help gratefully received. Spell it out carefully please. I'm not a whiz-kid.Ernest

Something has got through onto my pc, and is sending out emails with links to people in my address book.
It started at 1.20pm today, and has so far sent about 30 emails.
The links all vary slightly but basically take you to sites that sell medicines.
Any ideas on how to stop this, as I scanned last night and all came back clear and ok.
Thanks
Steve

Answer:Pc sending out spam emails

I very much doubt that your Pc is originating these but it is more likely that someone has got hold of your e-mail address and is spoofing that they are from you. Regret that this is fairly typical and very difficult to stop without changing e-mail address. Is this hotmail? If so change password.
Download and run Malwarebytes Free version and run that. Also do a thorough anti-virus scan.

Answer:Spam emails are sent through my e-address.

Very simply, modify your credentials. Remember, passwords should not be susceptible to dictionary or brute-force attacks, this means include Upper/Lower chars, numbers and special chars.Normally, this kind of attack has been because your credentials are either easy to guess, have been phished or have been scraped from somewhere.

Running Windows 7 on a Mesh computer, I get my normal share of spam but yesterday I got over 300 emails to my in box which all seemed to be warnings that emails have not been able to be delivered. None of the 300 odd emails had started life on my computer. Today, another 3oo odd emails, but this time they were mostly offering me child porn, which I had NOT requested! I am getting duplicate emails on my smartphone, which takes ages to get rid although I suspect there may be a way of block deleting that I haven't stumbled on (Android).
Can anyone tell me what is going on and why I am being targeted in this way. Oh, and how to stop them! I use Kaspersky anti-virus which doesn't seem to be interested.
Thanks

Answer:Help. Hundreds of spam emails

It may well be that a friend or colleague with you in his/her address book has had a virus attack so you may wish to pursue that line of enquiry as the attacked pc will need to be "cleaned up "

Hi,

I?m having some issues with my desktop that I think is caused by a virus or spyware.

Spam emails are constantly being sent from my machine. I know this because Norton scans my outgoing mail and brings up messages about not being able to deliver the message. It?s so bad that I can?t effectively use the internet from the infected machine or any other machine on my network because the outgoing mail is taking all the bandwidth.

I have performed the 5 steps before posting a log and I still seem to be having the same problem.

Below is my HiJack log and attached is the extra.txt and the report from the Panda scan. Thanks for any assistance you can provide ?

New question. I am being overwhwlmed by junk email. Spam, phishing etc. I am using McAfee, mostly 'cause it came with my computer. It dumps 99 percent of it into junk mail but I'd rather not receive it. Is there any way of setting filters or whatever else to block this rubbish before it hits my computer?

There is the free version and the paid Pro version that does more.

But what is good is you can delete the spam without having to download it so the spam never get to your computer.

Hi guys,
My Names Jason I work as an IT manager for an animation company, I'm having an issue with what seems to be a spam virus that doesn't appear to be sending from the computer that it looks like its coming from. there's a clever bit of code in the header that spoofs the sender I've done a whois lookup on the originating IP address and it goes to an ISP in the United Arab Emirates. it seems that who ever clicks on the spam link is then infected and there contact list is exposed to the spammer to use while at the same time spoofing the name of the recipient who opened the email. I've pasted a copy of one of the headers below, the mail.spider-eye.com is my mail server and I've removed any contact information of my company email addresses and replaced them with * for security. any help on stopping these would be a missive help! sorry if I've posted in the wrong section or anything im new to this forum. Answer:spam emails being sent from my address

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of SDFix and make sure you are disconnected from the Internet after downloading the program but before extracting the files.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with SDFix and remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
Remember to re-enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the Internet.
Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services a... Read more

Yesterday my gmail sent out about 40 emails by itself. The email subject is "Fwd:", and the content is just one link "http://www.teicosgroup.com/gcr4rv.php?s=lf". I can see those emails in the "sent mail" in my gmail.

I suspect these emails were sent by my desktop, as it is the only place where my gmail is set up in outlook (the other place is my android phone). I didn't see any sent emails in outlook's sent folder. I have changed my gmail password.

I have used Malwarebytes and Norton, no virus was detected. Your help is highly appreciated.

i've been getting the usual crap from DHL & UPS for months now, at least 2 per day, but recently my inbox is being flooded with them, this time FedEx is making an appearance.by flooded, i mean 400+ per day!!!it's got beyond being annoying and i need to know how i can actually block these ip's or whatever from even hitting the server.i use incredimail and they are all filtered as junk, but i have to wait till it sorts out all that rubbish before i can even view my legit emails....takes about 15 mins:(Windows 7 x64Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 4.1GHzATI Radeon HD48708GB OCZ Platinum 10662x Samsung 1TB Spinpoint F1

Answer:Numerous spam emails

Just a hunch. Type your email address in google. If it finds it then that is the reason for the junk email.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
