security suite typo

Question: security suite typo

I was trying out a freeware security suite and i encountered this typo that might make you laugh or not

Relevance 100%
Preferred Solution: security suite typo

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: security suite typo

Looks like an application I would have been involved with judging by the typo! dependant on where the app was developed it depends on the native language and who translated it possibily as I noticed many strange word in manuals translated to engwish over the years.

BTW what is the app you trying "swift"???

Hi All,
I have Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall, and Norton 2003 as my Anti virus. I probably should update my anti virus but was thinking about purchasing the Zone Alarm Security Suite and then add a spyware program. The one thing I do have trouble dealing with, using Zone Alarm Pro is that I use a VPN to login to my employer's client systems (different IPs depending on the client's sites). I can't have Zone Alarm Pro up and running when I login. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to firewalls and because I'm a contractor I do not receive much help from the employer so not sure if Norton Security Suite would be a little more user friendly when it comes to adding IPs that I login to.

Any opinions on ZA or Norton SS would be greatly appreciated, as well as any input with using VPN with firewalls.

Thanks in advance,

MB

Answer:Zone Alarm Security Suite or Norton Internet Security Suite

I woul keep Zone Alarm Pro. Was posted someplace thatwith Zone Alarm Security Suite so of the options of Zone Alarm Pro are not the same so that Zone Alarm Pro alone is better.

Here is a link. Bet it is something you need to setup up right.

NAME: Googkle
ALIAS: Googkle.com

Summary

F-Secure staff has found a malicious website that utilizes a spelling error when typing the name of the popular search engine - 'Google.com'. If a user opens a malicious website, his/her computer gets hijacked - a lot of different malware gets automatically downloaded and installed: trojan droppers, trojan downloaders, backdoors, a proxy trojan and a spying trojan. Also a few adware-related files are installed.

The name of the malicious website is 'Googkle.com'. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS WEBSITE! Otherwise your computer will get infected! We have reported the case to the authorities.

Detailed Description

Our investigation revealed that the whole infection starts from the 'googkle.com' website. This website, as well as a few related websites are owned by people with Russian names. Also several malicious files that are downloaded from these websites have Russian texts.

When the 'googkle.com' is opened in a browser, it shows 2 popup windows that are linked to the following websites:

www ntsearch.com
toolbarpartner.com

The 'ntsearch.com' website downloads and runs the 'pop.chm' file and the 'toolbarpartner.com' website downloads and runs the 'ddfs.chm' file. Both files are downloaded using exploits and they contain exploits themselves to run embedded executable files. One of the webpages of the 'toolbarpartner.com... Read more

Hi

...now totally confused about which to use, or which ist the best deal for the money?
Right now i am using the trial version from Zone Alarm Internet Security,i like it - but it really slows my system down. I was also thinking about Bitdefender total security...since they offer a 30 day free trial version, or Internet Security Software 08.
I do like the idea of having a Security Suite, its kind of all in one , and i don"t have to hassle with x amount of programs ( still somewhat of a beginner).
I have read many ratings and reviews... just to confuse me more...seems as though depending on what webside you are looking (c/net, or pc world, or computer world...) each has its own favorite.

Can anyone help out?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Zone Alarm Security Suite versus Bitdefender Total Security

Howdy AstridG James,
I have been using Zone Alarm Security Suite for a couple of years now and find it very good. I also have SpywareBlaster,Ad-Aware 2007 Pro, Spybot Search n Destroy 1.5 and WinPatrol. All the programmes seem to be needed to find different things and although Zone Alarm seems to stop most and is a gr8 AV....never had any problems with it at all...the other programmes still find different things and all work well together.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 is a capable product which delivers everything you?d expect from a security suite: antivirus, firewall, browsing protection, a spam filter and more. The technology scores highly with the independent testing labs, too, so we were interested to see what the new build had to offer.

Installation was quick and easy. Unlike some of the competition, you?re not forced to remove anything else vaguely security-related: Kaspersky warns you about possible conflicts, but whether you uninstall any problem programs is up to you.

The interface looks a little different to previous editions -- lighter, more subdued -- but it feels very similar. Four large buttons give access to key areas (Scan, Update, Safe Money, Parental Control), and links give one-click access to your settings and a list of other tools. It?s all very straightforward, and even newcomers to Kaspersky should quickly find what they need.

We did have a few issues with the initial setup, with for example our spam filter being turned off by default. Fortunately this wasn?t difficult to spot, or fix: click Settings > Protection Center, every protective layer is listed, and you?re able to disable or enable them with a click. It only took a few moments, and we were ready for testing.

Antivirus
Kaspersky cloud-assisted antivirus technology is highly rated by independent testing labs, and it?s not difficult to see why. As we write, AV-Test?s latest reports show the Kaspersky 2014 d... Read more

I have a personal computer that I need an antivirus and firewall for. Mainly because I have ports 80 and 21 open. I have these open because I run my own personal server. I need to know which one of these is better for use on my server, and which one is better for my personal computer. Which one would make my server more secure?

NOTE - My server only needs a firewall, not an AV. My personal computer needs an AV.

Answer:PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 vs. Zonealarm Security Suite

For personal computers, my favorite, and actual, combination is Zone Alarm Pro Firewall, and Norton Antivirus 2005. Norton Firewall is probably pretty good, but I don't like the notification interface and I get the feeling it doesn't tell me everything, so definitely I say Zone Alarm's Pro firewall is the way to go...and Zone Alarm's Suite that includes the anti-virus, I got the feeling it was a little weak in interface and ability....but for servers...I'm not so sure if I would recommend the same thing, or something more heavy duty and specially designed for servers, I just don't know...

EDIT: PC-Cillin is a piece of crap...I didn't like it at all! The spyware feature was barebones at most, and it was just crappy all around....you should download some trials of these things and see which one you personally like best, becuase PC-Cillin, Norton, and Zone Alarm all seem to get pretty much the same ratings by magazines, etc.

I know you can help me with this - but I'm entirely lost.I'm getting notifications/pop ups from AV security suite saying my computer is infected, "Application cannot be executed. File xxxx is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?."Odd thing - This is happening on two machines, which to the best of my knowledge have never shared a removable drive, and haven't even visited the same websites for months - my desktop running XP and my wifes laptop running Vista.I'm also seeing the (I assume) associated windows security alerts and spyware alerts windows. In the AV suite window I'm seeing malware names such as "Backdoor win32, and Downloader win 3...On my XP machine I had it in to the "Easy Techs" a short time ago - for a virus removal [trojan AV] which obviously didn't remove it. I haven't experienced any of the Trojan AV virus on wifes laptop and the AV suite thing is new and started on both  (seperate machines) at the same time?I haven't downloaded any fixes or requested any help anywhere else for this issue.can you help please?

When I'm logged on as an Administrator (which I only log onto to install applications), my Windows Security Center recognizes my AT&T security suite. Everything is fine.

However, when I logon as a User (which I do a majority of the time for internetting and music), Windows Security Center informs me that AT&T's security suite isn't active, even though the icon is shown in the systray, and all of it's services are active (I can see the firewall blocking info in real time for example).

Why does Security Center detect the same suite on my Administrator account but not my User account? This issue only happened after I uninstalled Visual Basic .net a few months ago (I can't restore to back that date at this point to undo it), and I'm wondering if there's a way to repair it.

Answer:Windows Security Center not recognizing Security Suite in XP Pro

IIRC, the MMC (Microsoft Management Console) relies upon .net to function properly.

I currently have the Norton product installed on my system. The subscription will run out in about a week. Time Warner offeres the EZ Armour suite at no charge for customers. Is there any major technical or quality reasons to not switch to the EZ Armour?

Also, if I do switch, are there any suggestions for fully removing the Norton Product? I have heard that this can be somewhat difficult.

Thanks

Hi, I'm new to internet security systems so please bear with me as I explain, Which is considered the better choice Norton Security Suite or CA Security Center? Can I have both on my computer? Also I clicked on the link for "Antimalware, And Antispyware Resources" and I am wondering should I add some of these applications in addition to the Norton & or the CA:
- Spyware & Malware Removal Utilities
- Spyware Protection Programs
- Online/Virus Scanners
- Malware/Virus Specific Cleaners or References
- Spyware Removal Tools
- Tools to help prevent Spyware
Or are these types of applications all a part of the Norton & or the CA.
Any help will be greatly, greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Answer:Which Is Better Norton Security Suite or CA Security Center?

You ask a common question for which you will receive varying opinions and recommendations. There is no universal "one size fits all" solution that works for everyone and there is no best anti-virus. Please see Choosing an Anti-Virus Program. Before to read the note why using more than one anti-virus program is not advisable. After reading that, scroll up to the first topic posting and read Best Practices for Safe Computing - Prevention.

I recently downloaded a movie from a non-trusted source and, voila, I now am the proud owner of the Security Suite! I am a lucky man. Anyway, I need to wipe this stuff off my laptop and haven't had any luck using the generic removal guide on this site. I use firefox and cannot access the internet (browser starts up but stalls and must be ctl-atl-delete shut down) so I'm posting from my clean desktop. I've used this fantastic site in the past and it was my first thought upon contracting this annoying bug. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm getting multiple pop-up warnings on my desktop, including a "Security Warning" which states: Application cannot be executed. The file (this part can vary) rundll32.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now? Another pop-up is RUNDLL with a large red X on the left side. It says: Error loading cffqp.dll (this also changes depending on what I'm doing). The specified module could not be found. You can only click OK on this.

There's a pop-up on the lower right where the shield from the malware is on the taskbar. It states: Windown Security Alert with a red X to the left. Windows reports that computer is infected. Antivirus software helps to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the scan your computer. Your system might be at risk now. Hi guys, I'm Michael and am really glad to have come across this forum. I really hope someone can help me, I'm anything but computer-savvy and I'm slowly going insane. Many thanks in advance! My PC with operating system Windows XP Home SP3 has been infected with the dreaded AV Security Suite since the 20th June - I use Avast Free Edition and Windows Firewall. I sent a couple of log files (Hijack, GMER and RSIT) on another forum and everything seemed to run smoothly for about a week but then the Windows security pop-ups started once again, the proxy server was changed and I got redirected to sites like "ask.com" and "answer.com". I couldn't open IE, or rather a fake IE site opened that was eventually redirected to an adult site. Occasionally I managed to shut it down with the Windows Task Manager. Yesterday I once again sent several log files to the other forum, which they okayed, after which I scanned with Malwarebytes in Normal mode, which found 4 infected objects (2 x Rogue.Antivirus Suite and 2 x Trojan.Fraudpack) and deleted them.I also ran an Avast bootscan, and it found 4 objects, though I don't know if that's up-to-date since I noticed that for some reason it doesn't update any more, neither automatically nor manually, even though the icon on the taskbar isn't crossed out and says my system is secured.3 Cool Edit Pro exe.files:#1: Full Working and registered.zip-cep.2.1/cepsetup.exe>%MA INDIR%/cel.flt Error 421... Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.

Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Administrator

You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

Rkill.exe
Rkill.com
Rkill.scr
Rkill.pif
Once you've gotten one of them to run then try to immediately run the following.

Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then double click on it to run it.

AVPFind.bat

It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt file that is will hopefully create as long as the malware does not block the batch file from running. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

Now download and Run exeHelper

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
A log file named log.txt will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com
Attach the log.txt file to your next message.
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting fil... Read more

I recently was infected with the *very annoying* AV Security Suite. My computer was immediately taken off the network and after using rkill.exe, SUPERAntiSpyware, and Malwarebytes as per the instructions on this site, I don't see any symptoms anymore (and scans come up clear). However, I know these viruses are very persistent and I wanted to get some logs up to get expert advice on whether I was really free of the infection (and thus safe to reconnect to the network) or not.I've followed the instructions in the Preparation Guide diligently, turning off CD Emulation, etc. and run DDS successfully. I'm stuck on the step where I run GMER. For three days in a row now I've started the program in the morning and watched it hum away happily all day, and keep going into the night. I've been around it and watched it run (not continuously watched it, but periodically) for at least 12 hours. However, when I leave for the night and come back in the morning, the program has invariably hung and the computer crashed. I have no idea if that's due to the fact that my computer just isn't very fast, that I have a lot of disk space to cover (228 GB main drive--also a 1.36 TB second drive but of course I followed instructions and only have GMER attempting to scan the C: drive, NOT the second drive too), or what. So, I'm posting the DDS log and attachment here and hoping that someone can help me based on that or give me some advice on getting GMER to complete its long... Question: security suite

I have a combination of programs to protect my pcs, namely; Win 8.1 Defender, SpywareBlaster, MBAM behind a router.
I know no pc is totally secure but I was reading about a free security suite which, if it does what it says, is impressive.
It reads that you do not have to install all the features if you do not want to do so.
Because everyones' product is the "best" one has ever seen, I was curious if anyone has used or is using it.
I do not know if I can mention names here so will hopefully get a response that I can either post the name or use a pm.
I do not want to load up my pc as what I am using does not take up much room and is adequate, but am open to new ideas. The latest poor reviews about 8.1 Defender is what prompted me to look at options.
Defender and MSE used to be pretty good but seem to have slipped with 8.1
Thank you
Peter.

I also have run ccleaner and Malwarebytes Antimalware scans but they don't identify the security suite files because rkill can't terminate the process. Please help me! Thanks for any info

Hey there everyone,

Recently I acquired CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2009 and I was wondering if I should use that or should I stick to my Symantec Norton 360 Version 2.0

I use Norton on my Desktop and I used to use it on my laptop, but my previous Norton subscription expired so I got a new 3 computer subscription and I have 1 computer left to use.

The CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2009 has a coverage of 5 computers instead of the 3 that Norton 360 V2.0 protects.

So which one should I use, I would love to hear what people think about the CA suite, it's quote un-quote supported by computer security expert John Walsh.

Let me know.

Complete what you are able to of the below:

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

**** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Question: AV Security Suite

Hello everyone,

My family member's computer was recently infected with a viral program called AV Security Suite. When you started windows, there would be internet pop-ups and system messages tell you that certain .exe files were infected and that AV Security would like to remove them. Long story short, I followed the removal guide found here:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-av-security-suite

Recent scans from Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware show no infections, however I ran a CPU scan with AVG Anti-Virus Free and found two more infections on .exe files that were named as movies. I used AVG to quarantine and delete the files. I have posted my HijackThis log file because I'm unsure if everything is completely gone or not. My biggest concern is the following line:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5577

I know that is left over from the AV Security Suite, but I'm not sure how to remove it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and take care!

My biggest fear is people hacking in and looking at my stuff, or it getting snet out, not that i really have anything to hide, the idea just scares me :S...

Answer:what security suite

Security is a funny subject really. A lot of security is nice but can hold you back with what you can do and the programs can get in the way. To little security is also bad. You need to find enough to protect you but not get in the way of productivity, plus stay cost effective.

1. Make sure you have a NAT router. Typical SOHO routers have this feature and usually it's turned on.
2. Keep Windows Firewall on and just periodically check to make sure nothing has holes through it that you don't want.
3. Get a standard AV product that doesn't come with a bunch of garbage. Something like Avira, Nod32, Avast etc., that's just a virus scanner.
4. Set Windows Defender (yes it's a good product) to automatically update before scans, and have it set to do a scan once per day and to scan if the last scheduled scan is missed. Turn off dynamic scanning.
5. Install Malware Bytes and/or Spybot S&D and every few weeks update the definitions and run a scan on your system.

Unless your going out of your way to go to sites that have viruses or run cracked software or falling for those email scams to install software, you'll probably never run into issues if you follow those steps. If you already have the router then it won't cost you a penny.

Hello,

I recently (finally) upgraded to XP Pro,after a few hours I got it all figured out except one thing.

I have Zone Alarm Security Suite running (firewall & anti-virus) and I also have an FTP server I use for sharing legally traded live music (my friends band) so tonight I set up my FTP server (Cerberus),gave it all the correct permissions (I think) in ZA security, but I cannot share at all with anyone except myself when I log in on my FTP (SmartFTP) and enter my server.

My friend in BC who I trade this music with tried to log in and couldn't,I put his IP in my Trusted zone, turned the firewall off for that zone but that still didnt do it.

I've read & read but cannot figure out what I am missing here.

Anyone have any idea what I have to do to get my FTP server working?

Thanks,
Greg

Evening All!!

For a few years, I have been running Norton Systemworks and Norton Personal Firewall on my computer. Last time I tried to load the newer version (2005) it wouldn't work, even though I cleaned out all I could find of Symantec. Eventually I re-installed the 2003 version, which is due for renewal soon.

I don't like the Mc Afee offering which IMO is too restrictive and resource hungry.

Any ideas as to which Antivirus and Firewall is worth having? I have used AVG in the past, but is it effective in the free version or is the paid version better?
I also have a trial edition of Panda Platinum 2006 Internet Security.
I have used the Panda website to check for problems, but what is the workstation edition like?

Any ideas appreciated before I spend some hard earned cash on updating my security programs.

PS I don't require SPAM or Ad Blockers.

Question: AV Security Suite

Dear Sir or Madam, I obtained the AV Security Suite virus and used Malwarebytes to clean and by disabling the start list in msconfig was able to ID and deleted a folder with an executable in it to stabalize my PC. My IE is somewhat sluggish and I stil get some strange things like my favorites being 'grayed out' but they are accessible when selected. I have collected the DDS, attach.txt, and the ark.txt files and placed them to this post. I was hoping somoene could review these and determine if there is still cleaning to perform. At this point Symantic nor Maywarebytes finds any further trouble. Thank you for your time and any help you may be able to provide. Question: AV Security Suite

This program seems like it wants me to buy their anti-virus protection. But I know better Attached and posted are my dds and gmer logs. If you can spot any other garbage in there that I don't need, let's delete it too.

I had to uncheck "Files" in gmer, as it takes too long. After an hour, I return to the computer to see either "gmer has committed an illegal act and will be shut down", or I find the computer rebooted itself.

A big THANKS!! in advance for your help!

Question: AV security suite

AV security suite seems to keep installing itself on my machine. I first got this downloaded rkill, I already had malwarebytes. I went into safe mode, ran rkill (at which point the screen blinked and it said it only terminated rkill, and the "welcome to safe mode do you want to do a system restore" window came up) but I malwarebytes full scan, but it found nothing. Started my computer normally and it was still there. So I restarted and as soon as I could (before the process the malware was in could start) I ran rkill the screen kept blinking but eventually this is what it said was terminated:C:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings\application data\rrmwdae\ytmopxa.exeC:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\rkill.scrAfterward AV security suite didn't start, I ran malwarebytes it found four things:Registry Keys Infected:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\avsoft (Trojan.Fraudpack) -> No action taken.HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\avsuite (Rogue.AntivirusSuite) -> No action taken.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\avsoft (Trojan.Fraudpack) -> No action taken.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\avsuite (Rogue.AntivirusSuite) -> No action taken.I don't know why it says "No action taken" I did click remove. Question: Cox Security Suite

Searched for a thread related to this with no luck so...here it goes.

If someone has Cox Security Suite please let me know if you have or have had this similar instance.

I have an icon in my task bar that says "a scheduled scan is currently in progress". I have been on my computer for the past hour and a half and it is still there. When I open the Cox Security Suite it does not display a virus scan in progress within the Virus Check tab.

This icon appears every time I start up my PC. It has not gone away yet and will not go away unless I shut down the Cox Security Suite.

This is not really a problem although it does run my processor down somewhat, it would just be nice to know what is going on.

Thanks.

Watch your hard drive light, if it is burning steady you will know it is scanning, if not i wouldnt worry. ed

Hey all,

For some reason I cannot configure my firewall to allow people (myself included) to access my FTP server.I have allowed use for passive FTP in Tools > Internet options > Advanced and have allowed access through my XP firewall but no where can I see where on ZA for me to allow permissions for FTP accept port ranges, which I have done accordingly.

Heres what I have running:

Windows XP Pro (SP1)
ZA Security Suite
Cerberus FTP Server

I have read the info on ZA's home site and also Dan Hoovers site (which confused the hell outta me) and still I cannot find the solution.I assume its somthing simple and small since those seem to be the things I miss when configureing ZA.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have been infected with the AV security Suite malware program.
I run Vista premium, but am now in safe mode and after a furious update and quick scan with malware-bytes, it seems stable for the moment.
I do not, to my knowledge have a reboot cd.
running ok now in safe mode with proxy off (as per another site)
I forgot to update malwarebytes forever (and ad-aware-lavasoft) and I think this is how it happened.....

Anyway, I also use Avast which updates regularly, but have my firewall off, (cant remember why I had it so at the moment though)
And sorry if the zip file is in the wrong format, I did the "send to" method and it still came out as RAR file i think.
Thanks in advance guys,

I'm looking to purchase an all encompassing security suite that is really kick ass as of right now. Something that covers malware, viruses, trojans, etc. Something that is user friendly but not intrusive at the same time. I'm looking to install it on my new laptop, which I will mostly use for gaming and surfing the net.

I'm willing to spend money for such a product because as I understand it, the best ones that are free still aren't quite as good than the best ones that have a price tag attached to them. I'm willing to open up my wallet for a little more protection.

So I have two questions for those who know a lot about this subject. In your opinion, what are some of the top products that fit my criteria and what are some websites rate/review/compare these products? I'd like to have a look for myself before I make a decision on one.

Thank you for your input.

Answer:Looking for the best of the best security suite! (for me)

Just a heads up...
This question is like asking someone to tell you which team is the best in football. There are many answers, most of which relates to personal experience. In my opinion, no single company makes the best malware and virus scanner/ remover/ preventer.

I like Avira; used the free edition for several years and bought the premium one; upgraded it once and picked up a rootkit with the upgrade file somehow. Switched to Avast and have been with them for a little over a year. It works well for viruses and is not too intrusive; they like to market, though. I'm a fan of Malwarebytes for malware; it is fast yet thorough

That said, the biggest part of prevention is related to your personal internet habits.

Not sure how helpful this is but wanted to warn you and share my 2 cents.

Happy New Year!

Question: AV Security Suite

Hello all. I Have a computer here from a friend that had AV Security suite on it. This particular one shut down IE and Firefox, so access to internet is a no-no. But the weird thing is I AM able to play internet spades and after I installed Super Anti Spyware via CD. I was able to update it. So there IS some internet connection. I can also ping Yahoo.com from Command Prompt.

The next problem I had is I couldn't get into Safe Mode, I would get the BSOD, but I was able to repair that with Super Anti Spyware, but I when I did eventually get into Safe Mode, I was able to surf the web on both IE and Firefox. I reboot and still no access to the web with IE or Mozilla.
I'm at a loss on this one.

Question: AV Security Suite

Hi, I received the AV Security Suite popups. I am running a Dell Vostro 1700 with Windows XP. I went searching for a solution, and found the instructions to reboot and start in safeboot mode. But when I did, it rendered my mouse and keyboard useless. So now it boots up and stays stagnant on the user logon screen. I have searched other threads and see plenty of instructions on what to do, but I can't download or run any programs with no mouse or keyboard. I am just stuck. I am using another computer to post now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible for a virus on my computer to keep me from posting in this section? I can go to the different posts, but I cannot reply. When i try to post, I get the folowing message.
"The Connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. " And this happens in both IE and Firefox. I was trying to post all the required logs to ask for assistance.
I actually have to post this from another computer.

Answer:AV Security Suite... I think...

Yes it is possible. First, try attaching all logs. If still no joy...

Post the logs from the affected machine, using the computer you're communicating with.

Question: Security Suite

I have had similar problems like this with Anti-Virus Soft and other programs, that have been removed successfully. I did the same when this appeared. Start in Safe Mode/Networking, open internet and reconfigure LAN, look up how to remove, used RKill/Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as suggested, and restarted computer. It still said it was there, but now my computer would go black then enter the blue screen, saying it was dumping the memory to protect it, then restart itself. I'm not sure if it could be, but I still had the Malwarebytes installed from the last time. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall to make it work? If not, please notify me with what needs to be done, as college starts soon and a working computer may be essential to my classes..:Edit:. I'm currently in Safe Mode/Networking, and it is running fine. But I had something happen last night, when I first started doing the required procedures in Link. I got everything done, had the topic up and waiting, and was running the DDS program. It was scanning and had 3 things on it's list, then my computer just restarted. I logged back in under Safe Mode/Networking and re-opened internet, instruction and posting topic page were saved, but when I ran DDS this time, it only found 1 thing total. I'm not sure if this something to be mentioned, but I thought I would just in case.QUOTEDDS (Ver_10-03-17.01) - NTFSx86 NETWORK Run by Cody_2 at 22:28:43.46 on Sat 09/11/2010Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18241 BrowserJavaVer... can anyone give me the name of the best security suite on the market. I have tried Bitdefender but it will not even install on my Windows 7 laptop. Any advice?

Answer:Best Security suite

In my opinion, and in my opinion only the best security suite is a Antivirus and Malware Bytes Pro, The paid version that provides active protection. I should mention that the only Firewall I use is the Windows 7 and Windows 8 built-in firewall.

Question: CA Security Suite

Hi

I just got a new hard drive and it was super fast UNTIL I reactivated my CA Security Suite. Now it is very sluggish. I have to disable the firewall to see any videos from youtube.

I have anti virus protection from my ISP. Should I uninstall this?

Answer:CA Security Suite

So you have two antivirus programs running on your PC? If that is the case then yes you should ablsolutely pick one and get rid of the other. I'd go with CA it seems to be a good program though I do have limited experience with it. If you have any of the McAffee products from your ISP I'd recommend not using them. They are notorisouly bad and prone to problems.

...popped up on my computer this morning with multiple warnings saying I was infected and asking whether or not I wanted to start my antivirus software. I was able to get rid of it with superantispyware, but somewhere along the way I was prompted (by webroot or so I thought) that something was trying to open (after I tried opening IE), I denied access and now I cannot run IE. Luckily, firefox is working fine.

Anyway, I'm trying to restore IE and ensure my system is clean of whatever I was infected with.

Hello! My work laptop contracted AV Security Suite yesterday as I was surfing the net looking at hardware reviews - not exactly sure which site, but if I had to guess, it would likely be the reviews of the gaming keyboard and mouse I was looking for. At any rate, I used the information on your site to remove the files and registry entries and the popups stopped at last - thank you! - however, IE7 was hijacked. I was unable to go to almost every Microsoft site, and when I clicked on links in Google search result pages, I would be redirected to other pages. Oddly, my homepage remained unaffected. I tried downloading IE7 updates, downloaded and ran a variety of software like Malwarebytes, Spybot, Ad-aware, Spyware Doctor, Registry Mechanic, RUBotted, Housecall, etc with no luck. Symantec Corporate AV updated OK but found nothing, just as Windows Defender and all the rest. I installed Chrome and Firefox - no luck, as they were hijacked upon installation. I did manage to download WinXP SP3 and re-ran that (it was already at sp3 when it got infected), as well as IE8, but still no luck. Since I can't determine which hijacker is holding my browser hostage, I am left hoping that one of you fine folks can steer me towards a successful resolution. I followed the instructions, posted the DDS.txt below and attached the attach.txt and ark.txt files to this post. Any assistance you could provide would be most welcome. The threat landscape has changed, with cybercriminals more dangerous than ever. Alex Kidman looks at the dangers, and how the professionals are protecting us.

Security is a cat and mouse game with malware writers and cybercriminals on one side, and anti-virus security firms on the other. As users, we sit in the middle, prey for one side and customers for the other. That probably makes us the cheese, and like a cheese left out in the sun, things have become distinctly less pleasant over time for everyday users. There was a time when security software was just about Anti-Virus, but those days are long gone. Security suites offer a plethora of tools to keep your system safe, secure and running optimally, although many rely on free alternatives. Is that enough?

IS FREE ACTUALLY FREE?
It depends on whom you ask. ESET?s Chief Executive Officer Richard Marko isn?t a big fan of free antivirus, noting that it?s often supplied as part of a bundle with a lot of other applications. ?Nothing is for free; it?s just how the money is collected in the end. What we?ve found is that our application often detects and flags these bundles because they come with a lot of other potentially unwanted applications bundled as well.?

According to Symantec?s Senior Principal Systems Engineer for Norton, Nick Savvides ?Free is better than nothing, but it generally isn?t enough. More than half the threats that we see today are not detected using AV modules; the old signature based ap... Read more

Answer:The New Security Suite

I totally disagree with the idea that a paid antivirus is always better than a free.
Let's take some examples:
Avast free vs Avast IS - As far as signatures and basic defense technologies go are totally THE SAME.
- Signatures-
-Evogen, Metagen, File rep-
- Hardened Mode -
- Detection of PUP -
All other features of paid version can be covered with free alternatives (who actually do a better job)
FREE vs PAID No2:
Now let's take a example of a totally free program vs a complete paid one.
Qihoo 360 Total Security vs Emsisoft Internet Security:

As you can see (except firewall) all other features are THE SAME (Qihoo has also a protection when user enter to banking or shopping sites)
On the plus side Qihoo offers a sandbox and webcam protection which Emsisoft doesn't.
The firewall option that Qihoo does not offer can be easily covered by a free one (and much better than Emsisoft's)

And for the last... Let's see what Britec says about it.....

OVERALL:
For home users free antivirus programs will do the job very very good.
Paid solutions are mostly for people who run business companies etc....as they need full support and probably more frequent updates.
BOTH free & paid solutions are very good but users needs to get clear of the purposes that free or paid programs intended for.......

Question: Security Suite

I just got the same exact thing at 12 last night. I don't know if I got it downloading the Deviant Art extension for Firefox or from watching videos, but it messes with my browser, making it use a proxy, won't let programs start up.. and AVG won't detect it, and it wouldn't let my Task Manager to start up so I could stop its process. I FINALLY got it to stop spamming its messages when i opened up my brand new Tuneup Utilities. Tuneup isn't an anti-virus program, but it DID allow me to stop the program and it's processes because the 'AV Security Suite' didn't recognize Tuneup's task manager. Tuneup put the beast to sleep, but i still have to get rid of it.

On the internet now because Tuneup allowed me to shut it down, but I fount a guide that says to run in 'Safemode with Networking' and download Spyware Doctor.

I've never used Spyware Doctor, so.. can anyone say if that will get rid of it? And is it safe? Someone who knows more about it than me, before I give it a try in safemode.

EDIT: Looks like someone just posted before me, might give that a try first.

Ive had many clients come into my shop in the last week with this thing. It is easily removable by the standard methods, but Ive been unsuccessful in actually securing the computers against. All the people infected with it, of course deny visiting any questionable websites or clicking yes on any popup dialogs.

Other than a normal antivirus (I have them running AVG), and making sure their windows are up to date, what else can I do to stop them from getting infected to begin with?

Okay, I've run the anti-malware as this site has suggested multiple times today. The first time, it said it had found a trojun and removed it, but I still got the fake security suite thing when I restarted it (because it needed to finish the process). So, I put my computer back into safe networking mode, like I've been told to before and went through the process. I can access my internet there, and I check the connection as I was told and everything is looking good. I ran rkill which has gotten rid of av security suite and then the malwarebytes' program. This time, it said that there was nothing infected. yet, when I start up my computer again. It still brings up that crap.

I went searching through the security suite viruses and whatnot here and i can't find an exact match. It doesn't call it live security suite or anything like I've seen. Just pure Security Suite. I am getting really tired of not being able to use my main computer. Can someone help?

Answer:Security Suite help

There are many rogues that contains words "Security Suite", so you should find tutorial which helps with specific malware. If you have pure "Security Suite" then you may try this tutorial, it should help.

I just got this today and I followed the instructions on the site. I got rid of it, restarted my computer and was fine for 1-2 hours and then... it came back. I managed to shut it off and am running malwarebyte's full scan again but, will it come back? Is this stupid virus permanent?

Also brought up a box that says: Security warning Application cannot be executed. The file msfeedssync.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?

HOW DO i GET RID OF THIS?

Answer:AV security suite

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. Question: AV Security Suite

So my father's PC has become infected by AV Security Suite one way or another. He is running Windows XP. I have followed the removal instructions found at bleepingcomputer. However, the computer is experiencing serious issues and I cannot complete the removal instructions. See below for a list of issues:#1The computer will not boot in safe mode, safe mode with networking, or safe mode with command prompt. I have tried multiple times. Each time it starts booting into safe mode and then I get a blue screen of death. Screenshot#2I cannot run rkill.com and I have tried all of the renamed versions. The window box opens up to run the program then I receive the error:"Application cannot be executed. The file rkill.com is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"#3I cannot run nearly ANY programs. I get the same error message as above when I try and run:cmd.exetaskmgr.exeregedit.exerstrui.exe (System Restore)rundll32.exe (Delete Internet Files)mbam.exeComboFix.exeInternet Explorer does not work, even after disabling the LAN proxy settings as instructed. However, Firefox works without issue. Please advise. Thanks.

Answer:AV Security Suite

Update: I was able to get rkill.com to run after "out-clicking" the virus. I literally sat there and just tried to open up rkill.com as fast as I could and I guess the virus couldn't kill the programs fast enough. I then was able to run mbam.exe, which cleared three trojans. It prompted me to restart. Restarted, virus was back again. Followed the same procedure, mbam.exe cleared two trojans. I then ran ComboFix which detected root kit activity and cleaned everything up. Laptop is running great again. My father was running Windows XP SP2...no wonder the virus was able to do what it did. This can be closed.

Hi Kevin.....i have a desktop, and on the latest edition of pc advisor..there is a program called Kaspersky internet security 6.0. Peronally i'd say this application is SUPERB, as it incorporates a firewall, anti virus, spyware ect, all in the package. Its totally free for 6 months...and u have access for that period. Its very light on pc memory, but u'll be blown away. I also use AVG version 7.5 which is also free. So i'd say u shoud try both of these and u'll be fine.

Make sure you only have one anti virus program running at a time, or they can interact, causing problems.

Question: Security Suite

Asking this for a friend here

He's been getting infected by antivirus soft about every other week. Now it seems to have changed its name to security suite but looks exactly the same. I have told him to install malwarebytes and we've been going with the "run malwarebytes in safemode" option. But, the virus always returns after a week or so. What do we do?

Hello,

I found your handy guide for removing AV Security Suite, unfortunately the first step of the fix is to boot into safe mode(to get around the fact that the virus won't let you run any executables) and the version of the virus I have will not let me boot in safe mode. I get a blue screen of death which suggests scanning for viruses (duh), removing newly installed hard drives, etc.

Searched and read the other threads for AV Suite but there was no mention of this problem so I'm not sure how to proceed.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I am running XP Pro.

Answer:Help--AV Security Suite

I've found - several times - that a BSOD in some cases is NOT REAL - but rather an image some trojans throw up to further confuse you. One time I simply hit ESC and it disappeared! Try it - you never know!

Question: Security Suite

Hi everyone,

I noticed over the weekend that my laptop has become 'infected' with the Security Suite virus/spyware. It is basically saying everything I try and run is infected and takes me to their website and tells me to purchase their software!

I have read up online elsewhere and have tried to clear it up but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has come across it recently and knows how to get rid of it?

Thanks.
Gareth.
