Bulk Image Resizing Software

Question: Bulk Image Resizing Software

I've found quite a few programs that will resize images in bulk, but none of them will quite do what I'm looking for.

I need to convert a number of images with various sizes (175x25, 140x100, 110x50, etc.) into 250x250. However, I don't want to stretch the original image, just add white trim around the outside of the image to make it 250x250. Any software I've found will only stretch the image. I can't do each image individually, because I have over 30,000 of them to go through. Does anyone know software that would do that in bulk?

Preferred Solution: Bulk Image Resizing Software

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:image resizing software

I personally like Paint.net. It's a very good image editor for us regular joes who aren't hardcore photographers/image tweakers. I've been using it for a while now and it's good enough for me when I want to tweak a picture that I took. It can do alot of things, including changing the resolution....I don't think it has the capability to increase the resolution of an image but it can definitely reduce it.

Does anyone know of any image resizing software that will batch re size pictures to popular screen resolutions.

I know there are tons of image re sizing programs out there but I work with desktop wallpapers for all sorts of different screen resolutions and right at the moment I am doing this in Photoshop, one picture and one resolution at a time. What I am looking for is an image re sizing program that I can load a picture into and have it spit out the same picture in multiple resolutions.

I would prefer something that is free or in the worst case a fully functional trial for testing.

Thanks in advance

I've got a little problem.....i have a folder with a LOT of images (.jpgs).

I need to resize them ALL. The only way I can figure out doing this is opening them one by one in my image editor, resizing, saving, going to the next one.

With several hundred images, I would love to be able to do this in bulk. They all will be the same size when I am done with them.

Can this be done?

Hi!

I am looking for a FREE bulk image downloader program or chrome extension that will not crash my browser.

I want to use the program/extension to quickly download the pics I've shared on Facebook and Tumblr. Because it would take HOURS to go through and download each one by one.

I've tried a few extensions already, but each of them crashed chrome because they tried to save them by opening a "save as" window for each. So I need a program that allows you to save them into a folder or into compressed file/folder so that it doesn't crash my browser or my computer.

Any ideas??

I'm working on a project right now but I've run into a problem. I have a CSV list of URLs for around 700 images and I need to download, resize, and rename them all. Manually this will take way too long for the project to be practical in any way by downloading each URL one at a time.

Is there a program out there that can take a list of image URLs and auto download them all? Would be a huge help if anyone knows of one. I've tried searching for one but all the one's I've found only work one URL at a time.

I'm new to these forums so if this is in the wrong forum let me know.

I'm looking for a program that can add a watermark to images in bulk. This isn't the standard watermark where it is overlayed onto the existing image. ImageMagick makes it very easy from command line, and being command line there are no bells and whistles.

When installed and the DLL is registered you have all the commands available from command line, no need to start any programs to do graphics manipulations, tons of options if you read up on it on ImageMagick.org.

What you want would be as simple as opening a command prompt, go to the Dir with your pics, and type...
Code:
mogrify -format jpg *.bmp
...and that's all.

But as said, it can do MANY other things, if you read up on it.

Apologies - the Urgent in this is only because I'm unsure whether any action may need to be done before I close down in about 6 hours or so.

Basically my problem began in Picasa 3 where I watched a short vid then decided to change the filename. That done I closed the preview & went back to the main program where I discovered that Picasa had somehow decided I wanted the entire folder of images renamed so it has worked through the 500+ images and renamed each one as Filename001, Filename002, Filename003 and so on which as you can appreciate is now causing somewhat of a major headache for me. It would take me a good few hours I would rarely have to go through and rename each one manually, so my question basically is - is there any method or program that can undo the action as I can't find any means of doing so from within Picasa. All other options I've found in my searches are mainly to achieve pretty much the same i.e. bulk rename as Name1, Name2 etc so are of little help.

Anyone any suggestions what else I could try?

I have 150pix/inch pic, size 21.51 x 29.6, which I scanned in, copying the original A4 pic. I want to print it so that it completely covers the A4 sheet I'm printing on, except for a 1cm blank margin down the left side( I want to bind it). I thought all I had to do was to insert into Powerpoint, match it to the A4 size, then move the image to the right, to create the gap. Then print. Not so. It always gives me a border. This happens in Photoshop and Word, also. Be most grateful for any advice.

Answer:Resizing an image to fit A4 page

First of all your printer must be able to print borderless. In general terms Photo printers will but others need a border so check your manual. In Word when you paste in the picture you need to right click it and select format picture. On the layout tab select "behind text". You can now resize the picture using the "Handles" in each corner and centre of each edge. Check that you have set the margins of the document to the maximum in File>Page Set up. Then look in print preview to see what will be printed. (Is all of the original picture there for example. Post back if this doesn`t work with your version of Word details and the type of image. (jpg, tiff etc)

Many times I will be surfing the web and find a picture I like. I will download it and save it. It is usually in JPG format.

Here is my problem. The image will be, like 800x600 in size. I will use IRFANVIEW to sesize it, choosing the option of HALF-SIZE. It will do this fine.

However... after resizing the picture and saving again as a jpg, the file size will quite often INCREASE. Often to a signifigantly larger file size than it was when the picture was bigger.

Why is that the case. Isn't part of the idea of resizing a photo to make it somewhat of a smaller file size?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Solved: Image resizing

I am assuming its and image jpg or bmp you are trying to print. It depends how you are trying to print it. If you just click the picture and it opens in paint or a photo viewer and try to print it, most likely it will print huge. If you use the built in print option in Windows 7 when you click on it once, then you can choose what size you would like your photo given the pre-selected sizes.

If you have Microsoft Publisher that comes with Office, You can just import the picture then make it any size you would like it in reference to a sheet of paper

im at a lose here.

long story short our work signature image is getting shrunk and enlarged depending on who we send it to interoffice. we're comparing it to text that is above the image like so:

correct (and how we want it) when i send it back to myself:

[email protected]

I_____M______A______G______E
when i send it to certain people:

[email protected]

I_____M______A______G______E

and when i send it to others:

[email protected]

I______M_______A_______G_______E

Answer:Outlook signature image resizing

Outlook changes the size of the images based on your (the sender's) DPI. If it differs from the recipient's DPI it'll look either smaller or bigger than it actually is.

Make sure the DPI of the image matches your Windows DPI setting.

How do I do I increase this partition G:?

Answer:Acronis True Image resizing a partition

Perhaps this could help the community if someone else has the same concern regarding extending a partition size on a drive due to low free space as I was experiencing. I'll have to supply my own answer here...this is what I tested by reviewing an XP Pro manual. You can't extend a basic logical partitioned drive. Only a dynamic drive. What I did was to re-format the basic logical partition after moving it's contents to another drive folder. When I created the new partition giving it it's same drive letter the unallocated space was absorbed into the new partition. Therefore, expanding the size. I found how important having Diskeeper Pro 10 for doing the deragments on all drives.
The MFT (Master File Table) & the Paging File in the new partition can be badly fragmented. This is where the frag shield feature of Diskeeper is important to keep these critical system files in tact. I noticed all of this when defraging all my drives when it called for increasing the size of the MFT. Frag shield can compute a recom number of file records based on the number of exisiting files, amount of free space, and the percentage of the MFT in use. Then, the MFT can be extended to this size so it can grow w/o becoming fragmented. You can rest assured that your defrag process will end up a whole lot more efficient than you may be used to. If anyone here in the community has anything else to add here, I would welcome it. I'm not the expert here...but passing on what I&... Read more

When I choose a new picture it automatically resizes to 128 x 128. My problem is that when you click on the image to login, it increases to what seems to be 256 x 256, but rather then using the source image and resizing that it appears to just scale the 128 x 128 image up, leading to a terrible looking image.

I figured that I might be able to get around this by seeing how the default images work since their larger versions look fine. Looking into the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures all of the images seem to be 128 x 128, so I figured that there must be another folder with 256 x 256 versions of all these images for when the larger image is displayed, but am unable to find such a folder.

So basically my question is, is there anything I can do to have a decent quality image for my account image?

When we first looked at Bulk Crap Uninstaller (BCU) back in April, it was a simple free tool which did little more than uninstall multiple Windows programs in one operation.

Intensive development means that?s all changed, though, and BCU is now a very capable manager and uninstaller for all your Windows software.

The opening list of installed applications is exceptionally detailed. Along with the usual ?Name?/ ?Publisher? ?Install Date?, you?ll see the installation source and location, Registry key, Uninstaller type (Windows, Inno, Nullsoft etc), the uninstall command, ?quiet uninstall? command and more.

Handy color coding highlights Windows features and orphaned applications, with the program even verifying uninstaller certificates for you.

Select one or more applications, right-click, and you can have BCU run each uninstaller in turn.

If an uninstaller is missing ? or just doesn?t work ? BCU?s ?manual uninstall? option sees the program scan your system for files, folders and Registry keys related to your target application. Choose what you?d like to delete and the package should be fully uninstalled.

If you?d like to check ? or maybe take more manual control ? there are options to open the program or installer source folders, view or delete its Registry key, use generic MsiExec commands (/I /X /qb), search for an application online, open its web page directly, and more.

The ability to create ?uninstaller lists? could be use... Read more

The topic explains it pretty well:
I'm using windows xp pro with service pack 2. My computer is hooked up to my tv so I can watch media through it. The problem is that windows resizes itself poorly for my tv and I can't seem to find any software options for resizing. I tried looking through the menus on my tv (a toshiba from around 1998) but I found no options to resize.

Normally I could just press a few buttons on the monitor, but I'm not sure what to do with a tv.

I have tried googling for 3rd party software (video card is an nvidia geforce2 MX 400) but I couldnt manage to find anything relevant.

If anyone can help me with this I'd be quite appreciative!

Answer:resizing winxp using software only

Hi There,You might take a look at this site http://www.mlin.net/misc.shtml . Mike Lin has this little app. called "WindowSizer" that is worth a look.I am not sure if it is appropriate for what you need it for, but I do know that it works on 21" monitors. It actually does the opposite of what you are asking, by setting the initial size and allowing you to resize to a lower resolution. it's a very handy Web Master tool. I'm just not sure if it can be applied to T.V.'s or not. Maybe it will get you pointed in the right direction. Like any program, make sure you read all the info. Hope This Helps,Nos

I am having a bit of a fight with both Painter X and 12. They both seem to decide what size drawing I can have.
Generally, my on-screen drawing ends up either too small or too big. One in particular is annoying me - I drew a mountain view type pic, which prints as approx 8 x 5 - sometimes it is much smaller, and sometimes so big that I can't print it on A3 paper.
What am I doing wrong, please, gurus? Free painting to anyone who can solve this (if you can stand my amazingly beautiful drawings!!!!

I have used Corel for years, and admit few others do!
Corel Photopaint at the print preview stage, can be dragged and resized all over the page regardless of chosen paper size.
I would be surprised if there isn't a cheaper program available

I wanted to disable the highly irritating "automatic image resizing" function in Firefox. So I followed these steps:

I went to >

1. about:config in the browser
2. Entered "browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing" in Filter field.
3. Double-clicked the single result and changed it to False.

No effect.

Everything still gets resized if it's a large image. I also closed and restarted Firefox.

Any suggestions?

Hi

One of these times I wish I was in work as I have two bookmarks in work (as wanted to make a floorplan of our office with desks and PCs etc) to just this thing but can I hell remember them, just been searching for names I think they are, which give you the items you are looking for in a catalogue, rather than having to draw them yourself, otherwise any vector graphics app should do.

However two I do remember,

1. Do you have Microsoft Visio as that will allow floorplans?
2. Try this freebie from Ikea, may do the job http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/rooms_ideas/office/download1.html while you will be using their furnature etc it should work ok

ah remembered one as typing (for homes but) http://www.floorplanner.com/ basic is free, its an online one but should work ok.

Hi all. I am looking for a piece of software which allows you to store photos with keywords (similar to how websites like fotosearch.com works)

I would like to be able to list all the contents of an image and then be able for instance, to find all photos with boats in without having to go through every folder of holiday snaps.

Does anyone know of any good ones? I've searched the web and can only find one, photolibrary, which costs $70...can't afford to spend that much!

Thanks.

Answer:Image Library Software

Most organization software lets you bulk add keywords and comments. This is a nice little free program: http://perso.orange.fr/myalbum/MyAlbum.html

If you consider the easily bulk renamed file name a third catagory it is pretty easy to sort with filename, keyword and comment.

Hi, what is the best image editing software to edit images for on my website. Thanks

Answer:Best Image Editing Software

Bit of a lack of context! Although I see from other threads that you use Dreamweaver, so Adobe products and price-points are probably not completely unfamiliar to you.
Proper in-depth graphics work first:
Illustrator (excellent but very expensive) or Draw (cheaper; almost as good).
Cheap/free options for graphics:
Inkscape (open source, but probably not as capable and it's a bit harder to learn) or Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 6 (overlooked but quite effective, well featured, and it's good value).
Serious photo editing:
Photoshop (obviously)
Mid-range photo editing:
PSP (yes, some minor functions could use an overhaul now, but it's mostly very effective, it's very cheap, and it's better specified than Elements) or GIMP (free, pretty effective though a bit quirky, and the manual is quite good which is unusual for open-source software)
Each of the last three can be used up to a point (to varying degrees) for some graphics work, though it can be harder to achieve what you want, depending on what you are trying to do. Photoshop is the best 'single-app-multi-task' choice of the three.
I use Illustrator, because that's how I make a living, and PSP for photo editing (which suits me just fine for the little that DxO Optics can't do). I'm not too keen on Inkscape, but it has potential. The Xara option is pretty neat for the price. All of the above is just one guy's opinion based on experience.

Hello!

Kind of a beginner question, but I have a Windows 7 Ultimate ISO and am having trouble writing it to a memorex DVD+RDL disk. I have the hardware (CDRW-ROM) but I am having problems finding good free software to write the ISO to a disk, so I can run win from the disk.

Anyone know good, free, software I could use to write this ISO to the disc? Was using free iso burn, but dont think its working.

Ive done this before, but for some reason I am having probs with it now...

I lost my old Win 7 Ultimate disk and needed to DL a copy of WIN to run a repair on a friends computer.

With Windows 7 you right click on the ISO file and select "Burn Disc Image"

If that choice isn't available on the context menu (when you've installed other burning applications), then you select "Open with" and then select "Windows Disk Image Burner"

I made two backups of my hard drive using v2i protector with a removable hard drive. The problem was when trying to restore a game,Links 2003, after the restore the game wouldn't start. Someone on their forum said that the game won't work from a restore, only a reinstall from the cd. I suppose drive image software is good for restoring winxp without having to go through activation but I wonder how many other programs won't work from the restore. Now I see v2i was bought by symantec and they're pushing ghost 9.0. Would it be worth buying this?

Answer:Is drive image software useful?

I cannot see why it shouldn't work from a restore - providing it is a full restore (including the registry) and not just the particular program folder.
Ghost was good, but it doesn't do anything that the others don't do. A lot of people are moving away from Ghost since Symantec started mucking around with it. I now use Paragon drive backup as well as an OLD version of Ghost.
