I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: A high-end PC will be needed for the best Oculus Rift experience

I don't get it? It's supposed to be peripheral device. like an LCD screen, just with inbuilt mouse pointer. What does your PC specs got to do with performance, other than necessity to setup the resolution for inbuilt displays? What does it mean 'games and applications created for the Rift in-house'? Does it mean it will require custom games and applications, no support out of the box for existing games? If that's the case, their VR is gonna die faster than 3D. Please tell Me I'm mistaken?

Question: Oculus Rift DK2

Hands on with the DK2.

Answer:Oculus Rift DK2

Haven't written this up yet but I must go ahead and post what has been the most incredible demo for me on the DK2 yet:

I lose time when I play this demo. I know the video doesn't necessarily show it but it looks so real when in the DK2. Everything is just right with this demo... the sound of the wind blowing by is great, the lighting is incredible and the sense of speed is ridiculous. The only problem I've see so far (other than it's just a short demo) is that it is very taxing on your hardware. It's also going to force me to upgrade my rig when the GTX 880 comes out.

Can't use my Oculus Rift with this new gaming laptop. The Oculus software keeps spamming notifications about the headset HDMI cable isn't plugged in and that it can't find my sensor. I know the Oculus hardware stresses the USB bus and I had to install new USB drivers on my gaming desktop to get Oculus Rift running smootly. On this laptop I've been able to get picture in the headset for a few seconds before it starts complaining about not finding the hardware. I've updated the intel chipset drivers and BIOS from the laptop support page. Anyone knows about some settings I can try to flip or updated USB drivers not listed on the support page? Thanks in advance!

Any Yoga 720 15 UHD owners out there doing Oculus development?  Minimum specs on this page recommend the GeForce 1050 GTX Ti (16GB), while the Yoga 720 uses a 2GB GeForce 1050. There are obviously more capable laptops out there for VR dev, but I'm not aware of any with Wacom AES stylus capability like the Yogas. If any owners care to run the Oculus Rift compatibility check tool and post results here, I would be grateful.

We got an Oculus Rift. I was able to get all the hardware and software to work together and function. Although, I am finding little quirks here and there. Like some games will only work if the Rift is on the primary video card (I have two cards with one HDMI port each). But, we?re buying adapters and extension cables to compensate for certain shortcomings.

My main problem now is getting it to work with Steam. I was getting error messages before. But, I?m having trouble recreating them for this post. I try to use the VR app available for steam to detect my Rift. But, it is unable to see it. I know I was getting a 307 error. Here?s the log file that was generated:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B707PL4pnL0wMDVHYWdLRmdxYzQ

I have tried a number of things that were recommended on the internet. I tried the SteamVR beta, running SteamVR in admin mode, and running Steam in admin mode. Did Valve suddenly decided to change their SteamVR to being closed?

Hi, I have just purchased an oculus rift, i try setting up the software from the oculus store. It downloads it, but when it starts to instal there is an error box, saying
"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" I don't understand that?
Then below that it says click OK to try again, or enter alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'vc_runtimeMinimum_x64.msi'

I try to browse folders to locate that file, but i can't see it anywhere. I'm not sure what is preventing it from installing. I'm going mad and thinking of taking the oculus back to the store.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

I recently acquired an Oculus Rift VR headset. I bought a Dell XPS 8900 that was certified for the headset.  I can use the headset but occasionally the headset loses connection. The connection does usually return.  Running the support diagnosis app from Dell shows the VR sensor USB at 3.0 speeds but the VR headset USB port only shows USB 1.0 speed.  The devices are indeed plugged into the 3.0 ports. The headset requires 3.0 speeds according to specs.  I have switched around the various USB cables and get the same result.  I recently updated the chipset driver from Dell and get the same result.  Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance..

Answer:USB 3.0 ports showing USB 1 speed with Oculus Rift headset

Version of Windows?
Do you have the latest version of BIOS, 2.1.3?
Did you also update the Intel Management Engine driver when you updated the chipset driver?
For loss of USB connection, you can try this:  Go into Device Manager and expand list under USB. Double-click a USB root hub and click its power management tab. Uncheck the box "Allow PC to turn off...". Repeat for all USB root hubs. Then do the same for any Human Interface Device listed in Device Manager that has a power management tab.
Now go to the Windows Power options screen. Select the active power plan and click the link to change settings. Go to the Advanced settings page and disable USB Selective Suspend. Apply the change and exit the power plan.
Reboot and see if that helps...

I bought an Oculus Rift pair of VR glasses a couple of weeks ago and have a problem where the Rift sensor that comes with the glasses isn't successfully recognized by Windows every now and then during boot.

I've been in contact with the Oculus support but they haven't been able to reproduce the issue.

Below is my original message from Oculus forums describing the issue in detail and figured I would ask about it in here as well if it maybe is more of a Windows issue.

Many thanks in advance for any tips or input!

Below is my post over at Oculus and you can find the complete thread over here.

"I bought the Oculus Rift the other day and although everything seems to be working fine I have an error shown in Windows Device Manager under the USB section.

The title of the device is Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub and it's shown with an exclamation mark. Clicking on this device the error message says:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)The request is not supported.

I did a search for the Device ID and found it's the Oculus Rift sensor. I also tried the update driver option having Windows search for it online but it just comes back saying the best driver is already installed.

Checking in the Oculus software under Settings->Devices it shows up as connected using USB 3 and the firmware version is 178/e9c7e04064ed1bd7a089.

I have a T3500 with Xeon Hexacore W3670, 24GB ram, and I have a Zotac GTX 970 4GB GPU. I looked at the requirement specs and notice I should meet all requirements except the CPU is questionable. i5-4590 is obviously much newer 3.3ghz quad-core vs 3.2ghz hexacore, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell if the CPU should be okay or not. Thank you.
For the full Rift experience, we recommend the following system:

Video Card NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater

CPU Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater

Memory 8GB+ RAM

Video Output Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output

USB Ports 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port

OS Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer

Answer:Is my Precision T3500 w/ Xeon W3670 Oculus Rift VR ready?

You've got more cores (6 vs. 4) with your W3670 as well as HyperThreading (which i5-4590 doesn't have).  Memory speed of W3670 is slower, but that shouldn't matter.
Provided there isn't some required CPU instruction the W3670 is missing, key difference is single threaded performance.  Base clock on yours is 3.2 GHz vs. 3.3 GHz.  More important is max turbo:  3.46 GHz (1/1/1/1/2/2) vs. 3.7 GHz (2/3/4/4).  Numbers in parentheses are Turbo steppings from all cores active to a single core being active.
I would verify TurboBoost works with your T3500 (HWiNFO64 is only reliable way I've found to monitor this).  (I have a Dell LGA 1366 socket machine from the same era, and Turbo doesn't work for 6 core CPUs.)
You're probably ok with extra cores and HT making up for slower single threaded performance.
Worse comes to worse you could upgrade to a W3690 (3.46 GHz base, 3.73 GHz max turbo).  About $200 on ebay.  Or, you can probably "overclock" Turbo (since the Xeon should be unlocked), although you might need a better cooler for that.

I currently only experience latency issues with this game. My ISP is not to blame. The connection speed is adequate. Up to 3Mb/s Down. Not amazing but is more than adequate.

What I have done so far:

-Port forwarded the game ports on my Router
-Updated my firmware to the latest on my WRT54GS
-I do not have windows firewall running, and I have added exceptions to my AVG firewall for the game.
-Tracert to the game servers show a good return
-This is not lag due to system performance.
-I have also tried downloading the "Latency Fix" tool that WOW players would use on NIC ports but this appeared to do nothing at all.
-Speed test comes back with good ping latency from speedtest.net

It has to be something with the communication with these servers. I can play Star Craft 2, Black OPS, Star Trek Online, WOW. All these games run perfectly online.

Any more Ideas?

Does anyone have experience provisioning a HA setup on two ASA 5505?

I'm not sure of what an expected turn around time would be for this since I'm unfamiliar with setting one up. I understand the concept, but the execution is questionable for me. Additionally, I'l have to upgrade to the Security Plus license to complete this since we're using Base licenses as of now.

Some questions to through out there:

Do you have two separate WAN IPs coming into the building - 1 connecting to 1 ASA device?

I have a secondary unit here with a mirrored config from the floor production unit. Do i need to wipe that setup or keep it and configure additional settings?

Any help or suggestions would be great. I've initially place this on my December completion - I just hope I don't bite more than I can chew.

In recent years, High-DPI displays have become common. Having a lot more pixels to display your application on seems like a simple recipe for crisper graphics but, counterintuitively, the opposite is often the case. Many applications were written without taking the DPI of displays into account and are not able to natively render their contents on High-DPI displays. The visual elements (e.g., text, images, icons) of these applications will appear blurry.

GDI was for many years the de facto win32 2D API and is behind many of these older pre-high-DPI applications. GDI is used by applications to render graphics and formatted text on displays and printers. Beginning with the Creators Update for Windows, we have added a new feature, called GDI Scaling, that allows GDI to natively scale visual content on behalf of DPI unaware applications. Visual elements, especially text, can appear much sharper for these applications when this feature is enabled. This will give Desktop users and IT Pros a way to improve existing applications that are difficult or unpleasant to use because of blurry text and graphics.

In this article, we will describe the challenge presented by high DPI displays, show you several ways to configure GDI Scaling, discuss how GDI Scaling works and give instructions to developers on updating their apps to run with GDI Scaling. While consumers and IT professionals may find this discussion informative, the primary target for this article are developers wanting to unders... Read more

I solved this issue (see my other post) with the help of Lenovo support techs by rolling back the HD Audio Driver in Device Manager.  Changed it from the Lenovo-supplied Conexant HD Audio driver to the generic Microsoft HD Audio driver.  CPU usage is now running at <1% for the "Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation" process in Task Manager, whereas prior to rolling back the Conexant driver CPU usage was a constant 15% to 30%, and it occasionally spiked at much higher levels (on two occasions in excess of 90% CPU usage for the 'WADGI' process).  Everything's been fine since the rollback, but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their 2017 X1 Carbon?  I don't think it's a sound card (hardware) issue because CPU usage is normal when using the Microsoft driver and there is nothing wrong with the audio output or mic input.  I'm thinking it has to be poorly written s/w code for the Conexant driver, but would like to hear any other views on the subject, especially if you've had a similar experience.  When I was experiencing higher CPU usage with the Conexant audio driver it also caused the fan to kick in a lot more often, of course, particularly when other processes were in play, but now the machine is very nearly always fan silent, with only occasional, momentary spikes of fan use, which is normal.

I've started this discussion to find out if I'm just shying away from a bad experience, or if my bad experience is reality for most people.
I've owned one HP laptop bought in 2012. 2 months after the 1 year warranty expired, the fan broke. It was making this awful grinding sound. I bought a new fan and some Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease to replace the fan. Everything went well, until the Arctic Silver grease dried out 6 months later and needed to be replaced. The same was true 6 months after that. The moment that the grease dried out, the core temperature skyrocketed, so the computer was unusable. I bought Arctic Cooling (not the same brand) MX-2 grease to replace the Arctic Silver grease, and everything seemed to be fine. Then I got the bright idea to upgrade my processor from a 35W dual-core AMD A6-4400M to a 35W quad-core A10-4600M. This rendered the Arctic MX-2 grease unstable and the temperature fluxed constantly. To this day, I cannot find a substantial thermal grease for the machine and the core temperature does not fall below 60 degrees Celsius and usually fluxes around 95 degrees Celsius.
Since then, I have only bought laptops with 15W Intel Core U (ultra-low voltage) processors. I've looked into the higher power core variants: the 45W Intel Core HQ processors, but I've hesitated to buy a laptop with those processors. My question is, did a lot of you have an experience like mine, or am I just a victim of the "pendulum effect" of decision making?

All:I like my Win7-64 bit Home Premium enough on my production desktop to consider Win7 for this X61t bought 8/2008. (It's a 7764-CTO) I have 4Gig in it and of course see only about 3.2 of that in the current Vista Business factory installed. One way to look at this is: why pay any money or time troubleshooting for .8Gig more memory. Perhaps, though, that .8Gig will really speeed up operations. There are times that I do photo editing and Lightroom work on my laptop. I will shoot tethered into Lightroom on this laptop. Further, I plan to keep it another year or so, as my money has been going into the big production i7 machine. I do wish it was a SATAII interface, though... Anyway, what problems have X61t users experienced trying the make the 64-bit version work? I would go for Professional on this one. Kinda wish I had done that on the desktop. Concur? Not worth the bother? I can't cite a long list of benefits of Pro (32 or 64) except that I do plan to have a NAS here in the next few months. I have seen the extra controls available in Computer Management settings. (Not that I know what they all do...) The main question I have is how smooth is the path to a working Win7 installandIs the 64-bit especially problematic? (Drivers, etc.) Thanks, in advance, for thoughts about this. Please respond if you have walked either route on this upgrade path. Aloha,JonathanHawaii

Well after my Video Card finally quit on my 4-year old gaming laptop I decided it's time to build my first PC!

I've already staked out most of what I want for parts and what not, but generally want advice on stuff I've done wrong. I've already gotten a few second opinions but decided here would be a great place to ask for help. After all, out of all the components I've picked there is sure to be something wrong (compatibility issues, etc...) with my decisions!

My Decisions: UPDATED

Graphics Card
Power Supply

Other Stuff
RAM
Optical Drive
Wireless Card

P.s. Thanks so much for everyone's feedback and input!

Answer:Tips & advice needed for building my first PC - let's make it a good experience!

The motherboard will work with your i5 2500k, says it supports (1155) so should be fine.

For graphics card, i'm not so sure, but I know the Radeon 6950 is great. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161361&cm_re=radeon_6950-_-14-161-361-_-Product

For your HDD, a SSD is the future haha. This one was recommended to me http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226168&cm_re=mushkin_ssd-_-20-226-168-_-Product Save you some $$$$ aswell.

Hope this helps a tad!

Oops sorry, that PSU should get upgraded. Corsair from what I've heard is the best option out there. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021&cm_re=corsair_750w-_-17-139-021-_-Product

750W should be fine, 520W might not be enough for the power of your graphics card.

All this info, ive gotten from others on Techspot, so its reliable!!

Hi, Im trying on my laptop and it is directly connected to the HDMI port, but it shows a loading circle.. I just updated all my graphics drivers, so I m pretty sure that its not the reason. Also when I go to oculus drivers and try to execute it (C:\Programme\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers), it says "Installer payload initialization failed. This is likely due to an incomplete or corrupt downloaded file." I contacted Oculus support and they told me that they can only guarantee oculus ready laptops, because mostly the HDMI is to the integrated GPU connected instead of the Dedicated GPU. Does anyone know if on Lenovo the HDMI connects to the integrated or dedicated? I read such a problem in this forum from a user who solved it but didnt say how: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/HDMI-Y50-and-HTC-Vive/m-p/3335241/highlight/tru... Laptop specs: Lenovo idea pad y50-7016 gb RAM DDR 3256gb SSDNvidia Geforce G860M 4 GB (its not a must that you have G970, that's just a recommendation) Thanks!

Odd question struck my mind I'm not the worlds biggest gamer so be it but I do know that NTSC TV format uses 27 FPS and that PAL uses 30 FPS. The human eye can't see over 27 FPS so why do we need video cards that get 80 FPS.

Answer:High FPS not needed

BTW, your info. is a bit incorrect...the human eye can see up to 60FPS...I guess we use FPS because it's a good unit of measure of the power of a video card

Hello,

I have the following Problem:

Yesterday I got an Oculus Rift as a present. I installed it with no problem. Since my PC has only one HDMI slot, I had to use an Displayport to HDMI Adapter for my Samsung TV I use as a Monitor. Usually it is connected through the HDMI Slot.

Now I had to redo the Oculus Setup 3 times because of Sensor Tracking Problems. The first two times were okay, I could hear sound from both Oculus when I wear it and TV.

But on the third time today, while it installed my TV flickered a few times, and since then I don't get any sound from my TV anymore, while the Oculus still works. The Oculus headphones even make sounds from the PC which they didn't before. My TV also isn't displayed under "Manage Audio Devices" anymore ("show disabled/disconnected devices" is turned on). It doesn't matter if I plug the TV into the HDMI or the Displayport Adapter. Redoing the Oculus Setup also didn't work.

If someone could help me, that would be great! Thank you in advance!

EDIT: I tried a clean install of my gpu driver, sadly it didn't help.

Hello,
i would like to connect my oculus rift cv1 on dell xps 15 on hdmi port. When i setup my oculus, i've the message indicates that hdmi port is not performant. The image in oculus is very bad, not smooth. So after differents research, i realized that hdmi port is connected to intel graphic card and not geforce gtx 1050. So i connected my oculus on thunderbolt port, but it doesn't work better.
Is it possible use gtx 1050 to connect oculus or not?
Thanks

I already tried several things with the help from someone on a different forum, please read here to see what I already did: https://pchelpforum.net/t/samsung-tv-no-sound-after-third-oculus-setup.19052/

If someone could help me, that would be great! Thank you in advance!

Hi all,
I have a PC that was originally set up to run Oculus DK1 as a second screen. I don't want to use Oculus anymore, the problem is that when I unlug it, and just have my monitor plugged in, whenever I try to run a game, it defaults to the non-existant oculus screen, and won't automatically load up the game on my main monitor. I have tried reinstalling drivers (clean install) and this has not fixed the problem. I am beginning to wonder if it's not smoething that is fixable under normal display settings or nvidia display settings, and maybe there is some kind of legacy setting from the DK1 set up which is causing this.
I have tried changing every possible setting in both nvidia and windows display settings, and switched HDMI ports, DVI ports etc but nothing is stopping this from happening.
Any ideas?
Adam

Hello, I'm a guy who knows very little about such things as processors and graphic cards. Recently I started playing Rift and I'm playing with very low FPS and it's pretty annoying. I think the problem is my processor although I'm now quite sure. Please I need all the help I can get. I would like to know; what do I have to change and what should I change it to so I can play with fine FPS?

System
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) E3200 @2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
RAM: 4,00 GB
64-bit
graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce G210

thanks for the help guys.

Answer:I think I need a new processor -- low FPS in Rift

Well, from what i see, your CPU and GPU are pretty weak for RIFT. What are you playing on ? A laptop or desktop. Have you tried lowering the settings? I personally play rift with ultra settings with my Radeon HD 6950 and Phenom II x4 965 3.4gh on stock settings and i only get around 45-50 fps. I would recommend upgrading both your CPU and GPU .

I am playing on a HP laptop for additional information.

I am pretty sure, I'm missing some information for you to help me, but I really suck with computers and have no idea what to do next so that's why I am here

I have a GTX 285 core i7 920 and can run the game at 60+fps ULTRA settings no problems.
My buddy just bought a GTX 560 and is running on a q6600 and can even get past 20 fps on LOW?

What could be wrong?

Here's his motherboard if it helps... http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/G31M3-F...tml#?div=Basic

Answer:Rift Super Low Framerate..

Your link came up 404 Not Found for me.

It could be;
His drivers, background programs, network traffic/signal strength, speed of the modem, hard drive access speed... Not enough power to the CPU and Video card....
Could be many reasons. Or even a combination of reasons.
The i7 can turbo boost and hyper thread, but the Core 2 can't... Maybe that helps, not sure.

I got in on the beta of Rift and it was very demanding on my laptop, (On ultra), if they didn't change much I would imagine it still is.

Operating system: Windows XP SP2, Vista, 7, or 8
Processor: Dual core 2.0 GHz or better
Memory: 2 GB
Hard disk space: 15.0 GB available
Video: Nvidia GeForce FX 5900, ATI/AMD Radeon X300, Intel GMA X4500, or better
Sound: DirectX? 8.1 compliant card
DirectX?: 9.0c or better

Answer:Could a ultrabook play rift?

yeah, those machines will play rift fine. and I doubt you'll need to run it at low settings unless your Internet connection is really slow.

When I play BF2 my pc would stutter(LAG) on high with other people on multiplayer. Givin my specs should this even happen,
AMD 3000, 1gig fast ram, EVGA 7800GT, 500watt PSU, brodband (R&R)

The lag stoped when on mediem, I'm gettin' a 3800 duel core. whould this solve my problem. Would I also have to get another gig of ram?

And one other problem. Every now and than(every 2 or 3 days) when i'm done playing a game my CPU will run anywhere from 35 to 65 percent. But i go to End task manager and my process's say that my CPU is at idile 99 to 98% ..... ?_? >>> -_- i dont know if its my mother board or ...

Answer:BF2 lags on high(just advice or thoughts are needed)

I'm running the exact same as you, just a AMD 64 3500. I get shudders the first minute or two of the game, but then everything is fine on high. I'd say at this point for you, the processor would help more than the ram. You don't want to have everything bottlenecked by the CPU. However, 2 gigs will do wonders.

Symptoms included a screen flash with the TDR message appearing one or more times or the screen blinking out to black. If the system cannot recover it will crash (Stop Error 116 typical). There is no one-size-fits-all solution to TDR errors. But the problem is usually found in the local environment (your computer). It will probably be a long time before I can afford this thing but it looks pretty exciting. Looking at it's setup made me wonder. Part of the setup requires a HDMI out or DVI output from your PC. Fair enough. But on my Nvidia 980ti GPU I already use the HDMI out to connect to my monitor. It's very hard to get round the back of my PC but from memory there is another DVI port and three other ports that I have no clue what they are (DP? They look like HDMI but slightly different shape). Anyway, I just wondered if the Rift can plug into the empty DVI and at the same time my monitor can remain connected to the HDMI output. If I had the Occulus Rift the last thing I'd want to do is have to go round the back of the PC everytime to unplug the HDMI that goes into the monitor and put the Rift into it's place or in the DVI port because the cannot be concurrently connected.

Another thing that isn't clear to me, despite googling the FAQs and topics, is can Occulus Rift view older games or even the actual desktop? In other words, does the computer screen get replicated through the headset? Obviously I know it wouldn't be 3d or optimised but just wondered.

I also wonder if the thing will demand the very latest GPU drivers. I still use Nvidia drivers from around September time as I really dislike updating them unless there is a compelling need to do so. I read enough horror stories on the Nvidia forums about their latest releases causing all manner of grief for some people. I like the 'if... Read more

Answer:HDMI / DVI - Occulus Rift Questions

I don't own an Oculus Rift, or plan to buy one anytime soon.

The additional outputs on your 980ti are indeed Displayport. I imagine that you could use a DP to HDMI adapter (passive, cheap) to support the Rift.

I have no idea whether the device is set up to allow you to view the Windows Desktop. It is spec'd at 2160 X 1200 pixels, higher than your monitor. It's an OLED as well, so it sounds like it may give a rather pretty view. I doubt that I'd care to use it for non-gaming tasks: the 110? field of view would put the image (effectively) too close to my face. I'm also not a touch typist, so I'd want to glimpse the keyboard from time to time.

Hi,

While playing rift generally happens when a lot of action on screen it stops responding, and I have to ctrl ald and del to get into task man and force shut rift down. However if I then try to load rift again as soon as I enter the game I get a BSOD pointing at a ATIkpmg file I think.

I have done a Complete fresh install and still suffering.

Any help would be appreciated, I would have added the minidump file but it appears it didn't create one

Answer:Playing rift randomly cause BSOD

There aren't any .dmp files in your attachment as you stated, however these are required to analyse the BSOD.

Follow these steps:

1. Configure Windows to create minidumps:
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

2. Set the paging file on C: to be the same size as the physically installed RAM:
Virtual Memory Paging File - Change

3. Set the Windows Error Reporting service to MANUAL:
Services - Start or Disable

4. Test to see that dump files are created:
- Open Windows Task Manager
- Navigate to the Processes tab
- Right-click on explorer.exe, and click Create Dump File

- Note the location of the saved file

- Check that location and confirm that explorer.dmp exists

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

So I built this computer (actually a friend did most of it, i watched / tried to learn) several months ago but in the last 2-3 months everything has started crashing. There seems to be no real correlation between crashes. Certain websites will crash every few hours, and all the games mentioned in the title (I only play Lol/WoW currently) crash pretty frequently. There are also graphics errors every so often in the games. I've run multiple diagnostics and have tried several solutions, my real question is this: Is there a way to repair my graphics card or do I need a new one?

Also yes I have updated all my drivers, tried reinstalling the graphics card and sent multiple requests to game admins for ideas, just trying to find the cheapest way to solve the problem.

Answer:Rift, Wow, SWTOR, LoL and browser crashes

Update all system drivers. Chipset, video, audio by going to the manufacture of your motherboards website. For your card go to the manufacture of the card's website and look for drivers that are for Windows 7 64bit.

What is the brand and model of your motherboard? What is the brand, model, wattage of your power supply unit? An under powered PSU can cause system crashes also.

Hiyas all GAH!! Tried every single thing I know how, ran Memtest86, ck'd for the newest drivers I could find... uninstalled Nvidia drivers ran Driver Sweeper and reinstalled... First few weeks it was 'Rift' that caused the crashes. After I got the Beta *now released* Nvidia drivers the problem went away. Life was good.

BUT NO, Then I decided I wanted to install Dragon Age Origins and copy my character over for the new xpac and BAM. BSOD's are back, but worse than ever before... No consistency that I can see in exactly wth is causing it *sigh* I'll love you forever and be your 'Best Friend' if you can help me figure out which evil driver or piece of hardware is causing me to go bald. Had previously had Vista then Windows 7 32 bit on the same system w/no errors or issues in any of the above mentioned programs. Only started having issues after upgrading to the 64 bit version.

Ok so recently I purchased a gtx 460 hawk and have been having major problems in my games. I have flickering during different effects in SC2, and major color issues in Rift. Essentially, any game I play has an issue. Here is a rundown of my system

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard
AMD Phenom II x2 555 CPU (Overclocked to 4.1Ghz and 3 cores as 4th was unstable)
4GB G.Skill Ripjaws DD3 1600 Ram (9-9-9-24 timings)
MSI GTX 460 Hawk
Antec Eco Neo 520W PSU
WD Caviar blue 500GB HDD
Windows XP SP3 32-Bit

Ok so heres the wierd part, the issue is temporarily solved whenever I reinstall the graphics drivers but the issue returns after a bit. I would be playing starcraft II and all of a sudden the game crashes and when I open it back up, the issue has returned and I have to reinstall the graphics drivers. My graphics card is not overheating as it is in a very well ventilated case and is running at stock speeds and I have also monitored the temps and they remain very low. I am fairly certain the card is not defective as I have already RMAed one and they simply replaced it with a new one

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Answer:Wrong color fills with GTX 460 on WoW and Rift

I realize now I probably did not give enough information so I am going to add specs and a picture of what the error looks like

ASUS M4A785TDV- EVO MOBO

MSI Hawk Talon Attack GTX 460 1GB Video Card
Western digital caviar blue 500gb HDD
Windows XP 32bit OS

http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9295/riftglitch.png

the error will usually go away if i reboot the game but will occasionally progress and cause BSODs

Hi Guys, After dealing with lots of laptops that got destroyed by daily use, our organizations is considering ordering 25 Thinkpad W530 laptops from Lenovo and we hope that they last a little longer. Our main usage is video editing and design so we have chosen the best that Lenovo has to offer as far as hardware. Since Lenovo charges arm and a leg for SSD and 16GB memories, we have decided to purchase these separately and upgrade ourselves. Knowing the high need for performance, what would you recommend for 128GB SSD and 16GB memory? The laptops are all coming with 7200 RPM drives for storage so the SSD is mainly for programs and the OS. For the drive bay, does this part sound right to you? http://shop.lenovo.com/us/itemdetails/0A65623/460/89555ADB1CE946DA80E0E5D6FE77B164 This would be used for the HDD and the SSD would be moved to main HDD location. Is there anything else we should know about these laptops? Thank you in advanced for your time and all suggestions are welcomed. Cheers, Chris

Hello everyone. I don't know a whole lot about computers/BSODs but I hope I can provide enough information so you guys can help me fix my problems.

So I've been getting multiple BSODs lately and I really want to fix them so I can just play my games without interruption. The games I have been playing when they happen are Battlefield 3 and Rift. They started on September 28, and then I got two on September 30th, and then two today so far. So I want to fix these as soon as possible.

My system specs are

Windows 7 Professional x64
8 GB of RAM
Intel Core i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67 GHz 2.66 GHz
Video Card is ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series

The errors I'm getting are:

0x1000007e
0x0000001a
0x0000000a

I would appreciate any help, I would really like to get this fixed.

I uploaded my System Health Report into a ZIP file and attached it to this post, but my BSOD Dump & System File Collection App is still running so I will add that when it is done.

Thanks!

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and which one was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

I have been using a Nvidia 9800 gt vid card and have really only played one game using it. Had Rift going for a few weeks running fine on high/ultra graphics. One day I hop on and the game is unplayable due to skipping. Shortly after the blue screen pops up and shuts down the computer due to nvidia failure. I update the drivers, uninstalled then reinstalled them as well. Nothing seems to work. I have completely wiped out the computer and now am back to normal except the game will not run unless on lowest graphics (and is still choppy).

Just wondering the direction i should take.

Answer:Rift suddenly unplayable with Nvidia 9800GT

Kind of sounds like you might have an over heating problem. Have you tried setting the fan manually? Although, if everything has been working fine up to this point it could also be a power related issue or the card itself.

it was fine for a long time and then suddenly i get none, one or two bsod's when playing the mmo Rift, i have played many other games without any issues but they were not as graphically intensive as Rift is, included are only 3 minidumps since i removed the previous ones as i thought it was fixed, but then the bsod's came back later on

things i have done so far:

Hello Molochai, the MSINFO32 you uploaded is corrupt. You need to upload that file again.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
What is there in your USB posts?

I have gone through the 5-Step process before posting this.

I am having problems with my computer not allowing me to open applications. Can't access assorted programs and sometimes it acts like it is using too much Physical Memory to proceed. I have to reboot to get things rolling again. Here are some of the errors I receive when trying to access Outlook Express, Itunes, Firefox, IE, etc.

Not enough quota to fulfill this command
Application failed to initialize properly 0xc000044 and 0xc000017
Null is not a valid Win32app
Exception euiberror in module.

When I run System Mechanic to gain physical memory back by defragmenting I get some relief, but it has reverted back to these issues several times the last couple of days.

I have attached the Panda Active Scan log for it found some issues and I never saw where that got dealt with later in the 5- step process.

Thank you for all you do!

Please turn off the Caps Lock.Code 10 generally means the driver is corrupt or the wrong driver is installed. Uninstall the current sound driver, then download the correct one from HP/Compaq. Hello, I made a forum account just for this question, it's been driving me insane and I hope you hear can help (I'm sure
someone can). Please also tell me if this is in the wrong category of the forum.
I have two computers. A notebook and a not as good Desktop.

These are my notebook specs:
-NVIDA GeForce 9600M GT GPU
-Intel Core2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz
-4.0 GB Ram
-Windows Vista home Premium
-I'm on a Notebook
-One hard rive with 5400RPM split into two virtual partitions (C: and D: ). C: has 87GB used and the capacity is 144GB. D:
has 39GB used and the capacity is also 144GB.
-If you need more info I can pull up DxDiag and give you my complete specs, I didn't want to flood the post with that
though.

My Desktop Specs
-Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz CPU
-1.00GB RAM
-ATI RADEON X600 256MB GPU
-One hardrive with one partition total space 145GB used space 141GB free space 4GB. Don't know how much RPM this one has.
-Windows XP home SP2.
-Same FRAPS settings exept record location.
I want to record a number of games (Hl2, CSS, Splinter Cell Conviction, GTA4, you get the picture) at a resolution of at
least 1280 x 720 (YouTube viewers demand a lot). The software I am using is called FRAPS (you probably know it).
Here are my FRAPS settings in the movies tab:
-Fraps version 3.0.3(I bought it, no Warez)
-FPS: 30, 60, 40, 29.7 (I often switch them)
-Capturing location: C:/Fraps or D:/Documents/Videos(again I switch often)

Hi all,

My PC is :

4524e3u LENOVO M91P CORPORATE TOWER CI7-2600  3.4GHZ/16GB/320GB , full tower

I just bought it used and installed my old power supply (Enermax Noisetaker 420W), as the one that came with this PC sucks. I installed my old video card (x1900xtx), and it booted fine. But unfortunately it won't support Overwatch (crazy I know...).

I want to know the best possible video card I can purchase for this PC ($100-$210, I'm all about value), for gaming purposes.
I was thinking about

XFX Radeon R7 370 995MHZ 4GB Dual Dissipation GDDR5 HDMI 2XDVI PCI-EXPRESS 3.0 Video Card

, but I read some other threads related that some people's PCs wouldn't even boot with a R7 card.

My PSU does have an additional 6pin power supply.

Someone else said in another thread that the best video card could only be Nvidia 750 Ti. I hope this is not true.

Ultimately, I want to play Overwatch.

Thanks all!

Ok recently i started have that BSOD issue too so i decided to take my pc to the local pc technician. After checking my pc for 8 days the guy told me he couldnt Trigger the BSOD after watching streams playing videos Benchmarks etc the only thing he didnt done is gaming. The only thing he informed me is that he thinks this comes from my GPU after checking prolly my Crash dump or something. Now from what i noticed my pc sometimes when i play RIFT it mini crashes like (example of word "bad" and i listen even the sound as "Bababad"
and after comes back againi dont know if this is from game lag or from the problem i just mention it.As far i remember the same sound was coming when i had also the blue screens like 1-2 seconds before they apear and today that i had also my last BSOD i had some minutes ago a similar crash but the BSOD happend when i was afk and the pc was playing only a Youtube video.I need your help guys cause its rly hard to affort money for now to take pc to a new tech shop or Change blindly my GPU like that.

here is the complete problem code of last BSOD and the colect data from the tool

Answer:BSOD playing RIFT/Youtube/Stream Watching

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

OS: Windows 7
Game: Rift
ISP: Time Warner, (on Campus Network)

Problem:
I've had this problem since I arrived back at school: the game disconnects at Requesting Select Authentication (loading screen). I was able to play Rift on the campus network from the begining of the headstart program (around Feb 28th) to March 3rd, after this point I went home for a week during which Trion (developer) applied several patches and hotfixes to the game. When I came back to campus, the problem started and I have not been able to log back on since then. Other people on different campuses have had the same exact problems, and it is not just me.

I've been running tracerts off and on, here is the most recent:

Answer:Rift: Disconnecting on the loading screen at requesting authentication

Was the game working while you were at home? If so, then try uninstalling the patches to see if that is the problem. If you are still experiencing the problem after doing that, then you may need to contact Time Warner to see if they have network security settings blocking the application.

I've been struggling with this issue for months now and can't seem to troubleshoot it so here I am.

I've attached the DM Log Collector file below.

I've tried the following on my own:

Removed and reinstalled Geforce Drivers as well as tried different versions.
Checked my memory with Memtest 86+ twice
Run Diagnostics on my hard drive
Performed a clean install of Windows 7

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been using "run as administrator" (right click) and Rift has full rights. I've disabled almost every other running program and process, ran a full virus scan, ran Spybot, defragmented my hard drive, checked the drive for errors, checked my registry for errors, freed RAM, updated my NVIDIA drivers, ran Windows update, updated my Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, I've tried to be as thorough as possible.

Nothing I've done so far has helped.

Just did a complete re-install of Win 7 Ultimate x64. New video card (GeForce GTX 570). Downloaded latest video drivers from nvidia. Tested out the card on Rift and the machine will re-boot with a "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck" error in the system logs. Tried a slightly less graphical game (Minecraft) and got the same error.

Here are the details of the error and I have uploaded the MEMORY.dmp file to my web server and provided a link below. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa800baf14e0, 0xfffff8801064bf10, 0xffffffffc000009a, 0x0000000000000004). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 092111-38189-01.

just did a new build with a fresh install of Windows 7 7600 Ultimate (32-bit)

I've been impressed w/ the adaptability of Win 7 in terms of drivers, plug & play behavior so
I wanted to see how much a difference drivers made to the whole Windows Experience Index.

My rig:
AMD 785G / SB710 mobo (Gigabyte)
Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition
4GB DDR3 1333
HD4870 1GB
Maxtor 300GB SATA
Maxtor 500GB SATA

All at stock speeds (for now ...)

I took a few screenies

Fresh install of Windows with no drivers added...

Score:

After installing Catalyst (driver only)

So as I suspected Windows worked great right out of the box. I just gained a tenth of a point on my Graphics Index after installing the ATi Radeon Driver.

But I have to ask you all on how to improve that 5.4 Data Transfer Rate index... that's pretty low.

Are there drivers for hard drives / SATA etc that would help this??

Not really. For simple mechanical HDD configurations, that's about as high as it's getting. If you want to see a higher number there, SSD is probably the best option.

I ordered my $4410 w700 and it was scheduled to be delivered weeks before an important travel date where I needed a functioning laptop.  I checked 10 days before my travel and was assured it had been shipped. It was ordered with a two day shipping charge  however was actually shipped ground and when I called again it was in Canada but was in route by ground. It was to to sent to me in Europe-where i was for two weeks, it never arrived. Upon my return to Miami it had been delivered. Wireless keyboard did not function the press engage button was not active. The battery was a dud and does not hold charge for long. has to be kept plugged in all the time . So many crashes that I decided to wait until Windows 7 arrived. That is the stage I am at now - I removed office 2007 but was unable to load beta 2010 says that not all office 2007 components have been removed. After three months I have yet to use the w700 except for internet. The crashes in vista rendered it unusable.Took too long to send window 7. I paid $569 for a 4 year on site upgrade with 4 year thinkpad protection but nowhere can I find any reference to that I had to go back to the order form to see that been recognized. Recently I have been suffering from a random sporadic amount of bsod. It usually happens right after I finished a game or just when I am about to start one. During my time playing a MMO it sometimes just happens randomly with no real indication something is going to happen.

What I managed to catch during my bsod was something along the lines of IRLQ_Not_Less_or_Equal I believe.

I have been wondering what the issue is. If it's hardware related or due to software not being compatible with each other.

Hey guys,
My favourite is an Inspiron 15 3000. But I found the grafic card "AMD Radeon™ R7 M445 grafic card with 4 GB GDDR5" in a comparison list qualified as slow. I am not a gamer.
I´m only worried about the grafic card. I am not an IT freak, but generally  I think a solid RAM of 8GB and and a SSD is more important.
2nd question: Can someone tell my whether the Inspiron 15 3000 can be upgraded to a hybrid with an additional HDD?
Thx, Ralf

The GPU cannot be upgraded later, so be sure you can live with it permanently.
The system use a single standard 2.5" drive - you can use any 2.5" SATA hard drive, hybrid drive or solid state drive of 7 mm or slimmer height.

Hi,

The interrupts goes away if I uninstall UAA Bus driver through Device Manager. But this also disables RealTek audio driver which means I hear sound no more.

I tried updating the UAA driver to Version 1.0a but still the hardware interrupts wont go away. Please help how to fix this issue.

Hi, I just got a thinkpad edge e420 and I have noticed a high frequency/high pitch noise as well as a whirring sort of noise (sometimes, might just be hard drive tho). It is quite soft and I can only really hear it when I am in my bed at night with the laptop. It can get quite annoying. I have heard of similar problems like this when I did a search but no clear solution.  Where exactly is the noise coming from?Is there a solution? Is this normal for all e420 or is it just a very common problem that may require warranty service?

it is not really a problem, there is no real solution to this whining problem, as per the discussion we had on whirlpool.

Hi,

My wifes Win7 PC became sluggish with 100% cpu utilization, high disk activity, and high network activity (20% or so on 100Mbit LAN). Based on another post I ran the eset poweliks cleaner and it reported that it was found. The log it generated is attached (zipped to reduce size)

It still has the same problems. If I disconnect the LAN it becomes responsive. I have left the LAN disconnected. The Mcafee scan does not find anything. Malwarebytes Antimalware did not find anything.

I ran dds, the output files are attached.

Please advise the steps needed to clean her computer.

Thank you,
Howard

Hi all,

This is my first computer build. For the most part it is playing games fine, but three times now in the last several weeks I have gotten BSODs, in Crysis 3, Battlefield 4. I didn't have the presence of mind to write down the error code.

I have attached the /zip file generated by SF.

Any ideas? I got error codes when trying to debug myself with windbg.

I was playing the Sims 3 at the highest graphics, then suddenly my computer went black (although still on) and the fans went into overdrive. While this was happening, my glowing keyboard and mouse would repeatedly turn on and off. I turned off my computer and tried to play again and it did the same thing. Here is a crash log:Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

I got this machine to look at as it had unusually high CPU usage and the CPU fan tends to stay on high speed though the machine isn't running any applications or visible tasks- just idling. I note that it has Norton Internet Security on it with a full year subscription though I'm not a big fan of Norton or McAfee. I had some program called Internet Security 2009 in the language of German on it but used Add/Remove Programs to get rid of it- likely malware or rogue AV. I also see a CA eTrust Internet Security Suite installed in the systray though upon opening it says nothing is installed- this being after I click OK to a popup message "eTrust Security Center: calSS.exe - Unable to Locate Component - This application has failed to start because ISafeIf.dll was not found reinstalling the application may fix this problem". I don't have a copy of the application and AppRemover was unable to find it in its scan so I could remove it. Any suggestions on that one?

I have gone thru the registry and removed quite a lot of items that load at startup so the systray is pretty light now and some things have improved. I removed all of the Java and will put updated versions on after you give the "all clear". I just wanted to have some eyes on the logs to see if anything else needs to go and if someone has a suggestion of how to get this CA Security Suite off of here as I know too many of these programs is more harmful than good. As I said it's not my... Read more

Answer:XP Pro w/Unusually high CPU usage (CPU fans stays on high) - Logs attached

You can allow RogueKiller to fix the items it found, but I am not finding any malware in your logs. I suggest you post in the software forum for further assistance.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

About a year ago, I noticed that my computer was running slow (both online and off) and that the explorer.exe process listed in the Windows Task Manager was usually running very high. Windows Explorer seemed to crash a lot as well. A few months ago, I attempted to install Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 on my computer and before the install completed a warning window popped up saying something like 'there is already another instance of Kaspersky running' (which was not the case since this was the first time I had ever attempted to install Kaspersky software) and the install failed. When I rebooted my computer, I got the blue screen of death for a few seconds and then Windows booted with a message saying that Windows had recovered from a serious problem. Since recovering from whatever happened after the failed Kaspersky install, my computer is slower than ever and the Task Manager still shows a high CPU usage even though the System Idle Process is high and there isn't any processes listed that are using much CPU time at all.

I just scanned my system with the latest updated versions of AdAware, Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware, and Avira AntiVir. All of them found nothing. I then cleaned my computer with CCleaner and ran HijackThis.

Here is the log:

I have Toshiba Satellite C660-A235. Some days ago my machine was ok suddenly, fan is constantly running fastly every time and cpu consume minimum of 50 % . If i want to run some programs that require high cpu consumption the system is turn off automatically.

I have installed latest version of BIOS and all other drivers and installed new window 7.. Plzz help me

Answer:Satellite C660 - Constant high speed CPU fan and high usage of CPU

Hi

I think some kind of background processes stress the CPU.
You could check this in task manager-> processes tab
Click on CPU column to get the processes ordered and to show all the processes which stress the CPU.

Closing or disabling such processes can help to reduce the CPU performance.

Generally, Led high bay light is installed in the high altitude of 5-20m from the ground. Once the product fails, it will generate the following maintenance costs:
1. Machine rental fee for Aerial operation
2. Aerial operating fee of trained electrician
The two costs is much more expensive than the price of product, so choosing high quality product is the equal of cost savings

i have a Dell 6400, running XP with SP3, which has been rock solid for 5 years even when running heavy load apps. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) appeared about 3 months ago, and has been repeating almost daily since, and my sound is skippy/crappy.- system idle process is always high, typically 50-97% of CPU load, which is understandable if there are no other apps active HOWEVER when I intentionally open multiple heavy apps such as Photoshop, Maximizer and MS Access in quick succession, and the CPU use spikes to 90-95% capacity (as expected), system idle process still hogs the vast majority of the CPU use and leaves maybe 10-20% for all the other apps.- i opened my task manager and listened to a MP3 file. System idle process was always high (as per above) and the sound 'skipping' increased proportionally with CPU load, which was being hogged by the system idle process- i downloaded and ran the MS SDK debug program on the BSOD mini-dump file. This revealed ... "unable to load image ntoskrnl.exe", "Unable to load image portcls.sys", and "Unable to load image sthda.sys" Since the latter 2 are audio related I uninstalled my audio driver and re-installed the latest version- i updated my Bios to the latest version- i ran chkdsk and it was error free- my system is virus free - i run Norton scans frequently I've spent a couple of days googling to solve this. It's wierd... when I start up Granado Espada, 3-D MMORPG and move my camera angle something in my computer squeaks just as I move it.

Also, when I scroll up and down webpages.

These noises go away some time after the program has been opened.. but I just want to know what part of the computer is squeaking. I figure it's the GPU.

Oh and my case is open so mabye that's why I can hear it so well.

Answer:High high pitch sqeaking noise from computer when scrolling

Could be interference from something. If i have my volume WAY up, I can hear distortion when I move my mouse, but only if certain audio sources are enabled. Try going to your audio setup and turning off cd digital/analog and such one at a time and see if that helps.

This problem began yesterday. I noticed my CPU was at 90C constantly with very high CPU usage (>50%). I had no major programs running. I rebooted several times and the program persisted.

1. I went into safe mode and everything was normal. So this rules out hardware issues.
2. I reformatted and everything was normal..but then after installing these few programs, the problem began again.

Answer:Very high CPU usage, causing very high laptop CPU temps (90c idle)

Hello. First off, having utorrent effectively craps you out on this forum since it has a bad rep. Suggest you remove it and come back, start a new thread. That said, if you're familiar with Task Manager, check the CPU percentage on the processes tab (click CPU column to sort). This may help pinpoint which app(s) are whack.

Dear support, I would like to report that my lenovo e540 is reaching really high tempreture values. While playing games (HOTS) the laptop reaches around 80-85 C degrees.Since i had upgraded to Windows 10 Pro I had two freezes on different evenings. When the laptop reaches high tempretures, the ventilator kinda does not want to go "man" mode and cool up the machine.I know that that the vent can do more I've heard it when I was updating bios(current v2.19).On a stress test I managed to reach 95 C degrees! No freeze!I opened the back cover, there is no dust accumulation on vent or grill. I am using only flat surfaces!.Please advice how to procceed or is it normal.Radoslav Miroslavov

Answer:Lenovo e540 High tempreture valies due to high load

Hi rmiroslavov,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

You can limit the max CPU ratio via power option,
To do it via the Power Options, right click the battery icon (or electrical plug icon) in the lower left corner of the screen, then...

Select a power plan and then click "Change plan settings"
Click "Change Advanced Power Settings"
Look for "Processor power management" and expand it
Expand "Maximum processor state"

And also request you to update the power management from below given link.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-edge-e5...

You can now enter the percentage usage of the CPU while the laptop is plugged in.

Please let us know whether the above steps helped you.

Regards,

Recently I have been seeing 100% CPU and nearly the same Memory numbers when I am doing virtually nothing on my computer.  I am also getting messages telling me to shut down programs because of the high memory usage...but I don't actually have much running.  Additionally, when I try to restart the computer, I am often told that an app is running preventing the restart but I can not tell what app that is...Restart sometimes will work nevertheless, other times I have to manually shut the computer down and then manually start it up again.  Also, sometimes after restart I am presented with two users to choose from, my regular user and a "user" that I have no idea what it is but it is called "postgres."

Also, though I do not know if this is related to this problem or not, I use Norton Internet Security, including its anti-spam program.  I use it with Outlook 2013.  Sometimes Norton fails to designate spam emails with its usual designation of "Norton Anti Spam."   What is weird about this is that the problem turns up intermittently in that a group of emails will be properly marked...but 30 minutes later the next group won't be.

Thanks for your help, Ken

It takes like 3 seconds to open the file explorer when the laptop is brand new and has i7 7700HQ, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB...

What i've done:
Scan for malware
Check for disk errors
Reboot (?)
Optimizers

Haven't installed anything weird lately... Any ideas?

LOL NOBODY ANSWER TO THIS THREAD, BUT DO NOT DELETE IT SO PEOPLE CAN REALISE THIS.

Apparently, Nvidia laptops include some power boost options, so when you disconnect the laptop from the electricity, performance will drop significantly in order to save battery. This will include general OS performance as well as games FPS. Fixed by connecting the laptop lmao.

So I recently built a computer (I will post the hardware below) and it replaced my old iMac. Ever since I have built it, the connection on it has been incredibly "spiky." Especially when I game, it will start out at about 10ms ping which, then spike to around 800ms for 20 minutes at a time. My other computers in the house remain their high connection and my download speed stays at about 50mbs. I ran a packet loss test and it shows a ton of packet loss and high amounts of jitter. When I turn the modem off then on the wifi temporarily fixed for a little bit. Any help would be amazing and I can prove more details with anything. I have already run a virus/maleware scan and my firewall has all the games excluded, and all of my drivers are up to date.
Heres my hardeware:
TP Link AC1200 Wireless Adapter
ASRock B85m itx motherboard
Intel core i5 4460
MSI R9 380 Graphics Card
Ballistix Support 8gb RAM
Seagate 1TB Hard drive
Windows 10 OS
Please let me know if yall can help
