Website form filler, not for passwords and stuff

Question: Website form filler, not for passwords and stuff

I have this online form of sorts that has a bunch of Site names in the first column and then a box next to it that needs the site code that matches the name. I have the master list in Excel which is a good 1000 sites with their codes. Is there any software that will look at the text then search a list and plug in the number or is that only possible with some kind of cgi or sql thing.

Preferred Solution: Website form filler, not for passwords and stuff

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Website form filler, not for passwords and stuff

I don't know of any software that will do this for you, but it may be possible to write an Excel macro to do it??

You'd have to elaborate on what you're doing for us to help you further. What's a "site code"? Is it an arbitrary code for the website? Its IP address?

Hi all. I do have another post going but do not want to cram so many questions in one post. (Hope that this is an acceptable practice )Anyway, my Sony desktop crashed the other day. I had a new Hard Drive installed and recovery disks were used. PC is good to go. Trying to tweek it back to the way I am used to having it.QUESTION:I had a form filler program called ROBOFORM on this PC before it crashed. I had MANY years of passwords and stuff saved there. When I brought this PC to the Geek Squad at Best Buy the other day to see if the PC could be repaired, I was told the hard drive went. They were, however, able to make a disk with my ROBOFORM passwords. I can not get the disc to open the list of passwords. It asks me where I want to open the and give me a list of choices. (Paint, notepad, adobe etc.) None of them will run/open the files so I can see them. This was a program that I paid for. How can I make the disc start to fill my forms again when I am at certain sites? (Gee, hope I am making sense)I just realized I never downloaded the ROBOFORM program onto this pc.  Does that have anything to do with the disc not opening??If I go and download ROBOFORM, how does it know who I am. How will it know about the disc full of passwords? How do they recognize each other?HELP PLEASE..........My Passwords are VERY important to me.Thanks!!

Answer:ROBO FORM / Form Filler - Help Needed Opening/Running a Disc

Yes. I know the website but what do I do? Will they know my info or do I need to pay again. I am lost.(Sorry)Dee

Answer:Need web form filler

Gator will probably do it for you but it is classified as Spyware. I wouldn't use it but you may not consider that it is spyware as a problem.

Safer to input the data by hand, but it is a personal choice

If you really feel you want a form filler then check out Gator at www.gain.com but I wouldn't if I was you

Question: MyIE2 form filler

why does the form filler remember some of the forms I have filled in but not others?

Answer:MyIE2 form filler

I assume you are talking about the RoboForm plug-in.

Fillform doesn't "Remember" what forms it fills in. It just fills in information on forms which is recorded in it's identities record when you ask it to. It has no record of which forms are filled in.

Access the "Identities" record by clicking the tray icon and selecting Identities/Edit.

Or in the RoboForm Toolbar, click the arrow next to "RoboForm, highlight "Windows" and select Identities from the pop out menu.

I am looking for some type of software that can export data from a database and automatically fill in designated fields on a form.

Another option would be to fill out one general form and have the program automatically fill out the data on multiple other forms. The general idea is to avoid filling out multiple forms with the same information manually.

Any info or ideas would be appreciated.

Hi
I installed a form and password filler on my machine that runs Vista. I then found that you had to connect the software to their website to use it, so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it, but it did the same job as Roboform. Since uninstalling it, Vista is not remembering any of my user name or passwords and I have to keep entering them which is tedious. I have checked my internet options and made sure that under security I have the tab "automatic logon with user name and password" ticked. I don't know what other settings this software altered.

Has any one any ideas?

Thanks

Answer:Problems after uninstalling a form filler

It appears to be fixed now thanks. I went to cmd entered SFC /SCANNOW

Been using this free program for several months now , just trying out the latest version so I can only comment on the last build .
Its a pretty neat piece of kit and has certainly made life a lot easier , I hate typing in passwords and filling in forms . Surfing the net has speeded up aswell , one click and I'm into sites and signed in . Security seems pretty good and has been upgraded on the latest build .
I found it easy to set up and alter details so most folk should find it a breeze .I just love the icon with the sunglasses
Anyone else tried it ?

Answer:Roboform . Secure form filler.

Nope, not for me ... I use Firefox & Google's Toolbar "auto-complete" and both are Free.

You'll have to tell us what "bits" are disabled after 30 days if you don't buy the full program.

IE will do a resonable job too with it's own "auto-complete" ... though I would strongly suggest people use Firefox.
Let us know how you get on with RoboForm.

We are looking for some type of software or program that can extract contact information from a current database and insert the data into specified fields in a pdf fillable form (i.e. name, address, social security number, etc.)

We are a financial planning firm and store information about all of our clients/prospects in a database called Client Data Systems made by EZ-Data Inc. The database is similiar to Access (I think) in that it stores data in tables that correlate to specific areas of information regarding each particular contact in the database.

We spend a signifcant amount of time filling out forms and applications for each client. For some clients we end up filling out 10 or more forms and most of the time we are filling out the same information, like name, address, social security number, and birthdate. In our opinion this is a huge waste of time that should be able to be solved with the right technology.

We would like to find a way to have each of these forms/applications saved as a fillable PDF document. We would then specify the contact whose information needed to be in the forms and the program would automatically extract the data from our database and insert it into the specified fields in the form.

If anybody has any ideas please let me know.

Answer:Form filler/database extraction

Sounds more like a mail merge function. You could also do it in a mail merge sort of setup and then output the Word docs to distiller. There are ways for Acrobat to connect directly to back end databases like SQL. Here is just one article I have found:

OmniPage seems like it would work. Adobe seems to be INCREDIBLY expensive and I'm not sure if it would fit the bill, even though they ALL sat they do! Here is what I want to do:

.....1. Scan an existing form into the computer (application).
.....2. Convert that form into a computerized format so that only the cells that need to be filled can be tabbed to.

Extra features that would be nice are:

.....1. Click on a checkbox and have the form saved to a particular folder.

Programs I have found (which also includes the two aforementioned ones) that might fit the bill are:

.....1. OmniForm Filler 5.0
.....2. OmniForm 5.0
.....3. COSMI Forms Maker And Filler
.....4. Formtool Deluxe
.....5. OmniForm v.5.0 Premium
.....6. FormTool Express 4.0
.....7. Form Tool Deluxe 6
.....8. ScanSoft PaperPort 11
.....9. Perfect Forms Maker & Filler
...10. Etc., etc., etc...

I know that there is a more extensive list out there, but these are just a few samplings of what I found online.

Any hints anyone?

hey, you know when you put the wrong name into the password box on IE8, it keeps on showing as an optional identity when you return..?

and you end up with loads of incorrect identities in the drop-down box..??

- well, just hover your cursor over the invalid entry and press the "Delete" key
- this removes the incorrect identity from the listing..

Well here's the skinny. Almost all the passwords that I save for websites are working properly, there is only one site that is not. The strange thing is, that it doesn't work regardless of what browser I use. I have tried IE8, FF, and Chrome.
I thought it might be part of the new credentials manager, but I could not find out how to use it to save passwords for the particular site that I visit most often.
I have tried to clear all my cookies and other saved info, I have even added that website to always except cookies.
I am at a complete loss.
So far this is the only real block that is keeping me from continuig to use Win7 and give it a real spin.
I know it sounds petty, headed back to Vista just because of one website, but since this is one that I need to view quite often and I can't, well that's a big problem.

Any ideas out there would be greatly appreciated.

What i would like is to make a website with pages exclusive to members only, but still allow non-member to look around other pages without being stopped.I have Macromedia Studio MX that comes with Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and also have Cold Fusion along with Extention Manager (borrowed it all of a friend). Iv notice coldfusion has a step by step guide on password security, but also read that flash does too. But i feel more comfortable using Dreamweaver and importing the "Flash/Fusion" code over, but not sure how to do that either. If anyone can help me out with sorting out a password access system or can make sense of the above and give me a nice easy answer to it, for me id be very happy.

Answer:Need a lil help on passwords for website

The fact that you "borrowed it all of a friend" means that you are using the software illegally so you're off to a bad start, all things considered.Cold Fusion is a wonderful system, but you will have several problems to contend with from the outset if you want to use it. These include the actual cost of Cold Fusion web hosting, finding a host that offers it to begin with, leanring to code it (although it is possibly one of the easiest of the dynamic languages to pick up) and successfully publishing it so that the whole lot works. Most web hosts offer PHP and CGI support as a matter of course, or ASP support if you have a Windows hosted site, so it would make sense up to a point to use one of the those options since the likelihood is that you already have one or more of them available to you. However, about the easiest way of password protecting one or more pages of your site and giving levels of permission based on log in is to use a small gem of a program. It's called CoffeeCup Password Wizard click here and you can download a working free trial to use then buy it if you want to continue using it.There's a half price sale on for CoffeeCup software at the moment so you can get it, and their other products, for next to nothing and they are worth every penny. It is the simplest solution I know of and is very effective.RegardsTaran

NOTE: I have a web application that will only work with Internet Explorer so other browsers are not an option.

Question: Is there a way to get Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) to save passwords the way that Fire Fox saves passwords?

Details: I've set IE8 to save my username and password using AutoComplete and it works, just not exactly the way I'd like it to work. The problem is my username and Password are not automatically in their respective text fields the next time I go to that web page. I have to begin typing in my username and then a drop down box appears with my username in it, I click it and then my password appears in the password text field, I can now click the Login button to log in to the website. (I think this is just the way AutoComplete works but maybe there's a workaround, registry edit, or add-on that will make it behave like Fire Fox?)

In fire fox when I save a password the next time I go to that page my username and password are already filled in to their respective text fields, all I have to do is click the Login button and it logs me in.

Question Again: Is there a way to get IE8 to save passwords the way that Fire Fox saves passwords? Does anyone know of a workaround, registry edit, add-on or program that will make IE8 behave like Fire Fox when it comes to saving passwords?

I really appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks.

Answer:Save Website Passwords like Fire Fox in IE 8.

Here are some suggestions for you:

First, in Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options, Content, AutoComplete, and in the Forms section: check ?Save names and passwords ? and "Ask me before saving passwords," and Apply.

If that doesn't solve the problem, log into the site with the login problem. From that site, in IE, choose Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, click "Override automatic cooking handling" and select "Always allow session cookies." OK. Close out the window and close IE. Reopen IE and return to the site that you logged into, it should be fixed (it should have remembered your login info). If so, you can, if you wish, go back and deselect the "Override automatic cookie handling."

If that doesn't solve the problem, in IE, try adding the site to your Trusted Sites and/or Local Intranet. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Security, click on Internet or Local Intranet, Sites, Advanced, put in the website's address and select Add. Then 'Apply' the changes, close and restart IE8. (If it doesn't work with Internet, try adding the address to Local Intranet.)

Then, go to the Tools menu, Internet Options, and Security. Select the Internet icon so that it is highlighted. Click the Custom Level button, opening the Security Settings window for the Internet zone. Scroll down the window until you see the User Authentication section (at the bottom). Under Logon, select the option for Auto... Read more

Is there a way of inviting viewers of the web site to store their password automatically. I thought this facility was a function of one's browser but can I code something to ask people if they want it saved.

Answer:Website to prompt Storing Passwords

Think about it.
You're saying that you want to ask people if they want you to save the passwords they have set up to access something on your site. Why would you want to do that? You must save the passwords, otherwise how will your site know when someone enters one correctly?
User passwords are saved in a database, and your site uses an authentication protocol to check an entered password against the list on the server. Users can't say 'no, I don't want my password saved' can they?

Hi there

Just wondering if there are any experts out there on this.

I have a 'contact us' form on one of my webistes - http://stayhome-mum.com/contactus.html

I had someone send me a message using this form, but they used a fake email when they filled it out.

This message I believe is from someone that is very close to crossing the line for stalking, but because they sent it through this form I cannot say for sure that it was them that sent it.

The message was very threatening - both in threatening to ruin my business as well as threatening bodily harm.

So I am trying to see if there is any way of being able to trace who sent the message through this form.

Is there anyone that has any knowledge on this that could help me with this please.

Hi All,I have a website form that has been created with Dreamweaver which includes a number of compulsory fields. These have all been validated and includes one which requires a number to be entered. With the exception of the number field all fields work OK and the form can be submitted successfully to an e-mail address. The problem I have is that the number field, which is set to a maximum of 4 digits, allows text to be entered as well as numbers. I can't find a way to prevent this. Can anyone help?CheersKenHow

Hello,

I need a contact form on my website, that will send to my email address what the visitor enter in the form fields. The problem is that I can't run any php scripts.. is there a way to use some html form?

Answer:Help with contact form for my website

After searches, I found a site that offers remotely hosted contact forms, EmailMe Form™ - HTML Forms, a simple way to receive email from your website . Basically, I paste the html code in my website, and it calls the php script on their server who sends the email.

Hello! forgive me if this is in the wrong place, it's my first post. My husband upgraded my computer about a month ago ( new motherboard, new processor) and since then, even though I have checked 'remember me' on all my commonly visited logins.. it WON'T. Not even for a few minutes, if I close a page, reopen it again right away.. Its forgotten me. Last night, he added additional RAM. Then, today.. I went to check email and my office xp registration thingie popped up again, asking me to register my copy. I clicked the button to let it do it again. It tells me its already registered to another computer. ( yea, this one! ) Can anyone tell me what is going on here and how to fix it? Please and Thank you!

Answer:Computer forgetting website passwords/Office Registration

Can you share what your OS is, and can you tell us what Browser your using? IE, Firefox, etc.? More than likely you haven't updated something and or changed settings in something causing the problem. Jazz

My parents told me that there's a website being sent around via email which steals your passwords as soon as you open the email. I mean, read the email within yahoo or gmail or hotmail. Not clicking on a link; simply reading.

I called bullshit.

but I'm still curious. Has anyone heard of this? simply reading an email can steal all your info?
You'd have to install something or type something into a fake website, right?
javascript wouldn't do damage..... ? malicious jpg file ?

Answer:recent email virus or website that steals your passwords?

Never heard of anything that could infect you simply by opening an email in google or yahoo.

They probably got an email from on of their friends that describes a terrible new virus that is the worst virus ever. My parents get those chain letters all the time.

A vulnerability in the website of the UK Parliament appears to be exposing confidential information, including unencrypted login credentials, a Romanian hacker wrote on his blog.
The SQL injection vulnerability is on this page, the hacker, who goes by the moniker Unu, told The Register. By tacking database commands onto the end of the web address, it's possible to trick the site's backend server into coughing up data that was never intended to be published.
Based on a screen shot below, which was included on Unu's post, it appears Parliament's website has been coerced into divulging log-in credentials for at least eight accounts. The disclosure is troubling for several reasons.
First, there's the SQL injection hole itself. In the past, we've compared such attacks to Jedi mind tricks, in which weak willed websites are turned against themselves with the web-equivalent of a wave of a hand and a discreetly made suggestion. There's also the likelihood that the passwords, because they're being displayed in readable form, are being stored without the use of encryption. Keeping passwords in the clear is a big no-no in the world of security.
Finally, there are the passwords themselves. Because we don't want to give away potentially valid passwords, we won't say what they are. Suffice it to say most are trivial to guess. One of the few exceptions was a password that was the name of a popular super hero, never an acceptable access code.
That belonged to a user named "fulera." ... Read more

Hi and welcome to the forum...

Why not just use a simple HTML form ?
YOu already know that using Excel not everybody is going to be able to use your form. And as for the Access bit. I would say no. You can download many simple HTML forms from the net which are customisable..

I have some webspace with a hosting company for one site built using frontpage and using a form to send results back to my email with results of customers orders, this works fine. I wanted another site to make paypal payment pages for a flash site I have so again I bought a domain name and used the add on domain feature at my web hosting company, I designed a front index page and individual payment pages that are going to be linked to my flash site. Right now for the problem for some reason when I tried to test it and filled out the order form and click submit it flashes on a username and password box up. I don't know why this is, has completly baffled me and my hosting company. Anyone have any ideas why this would happen, the form on my other site as I say done the exact same way works ok. Phil

Answer:Problem with Frontpage form on my new website

is it the standard Windows server challenge - the type you see when you want to logon to a network? You'll need to explain your system in more detail. As I understand it you have a site that's entirely Flash, and you want to send customer's payments from it to your PayPal account, is that right? For some reason you've bought a special domain name and set up yet another site to do this - why have you done that?It sounds to me as if the form is submitting itself to a different server directory - one on which you don't have write permissions, so the server is issuing what we used to call an NT challenge, the type you get when you logon to a network workgroup.Perhaps if you could give me a step-by-step explanation I'll be able to sort this out for you.

Hey guys - got an issue I'm totally stumped with:

I have a customer I support on Office 365 and have done for the last 6-8 months. Their website is less than spectacular but does include a booking form for enquires (car rental company)

I have no control over the website but am talking to the guy who has access to the site and domain panel for the company.

From my understanding, when a customer fills in the form and clicks submit, the web server hosting the site and form sends out a confirmation email to the customer and to the [email protected] email address for the company - for this to work the domain has to allow both the website and the office 365 email address to send emails - to allow this to work, this needs an TXT/SPF record allowing both servers to send email using the @companyname.co.uk domain (please correct me if this is wrong!)

We had the same issue a few months ago, in the end we created an SPF/TXT record that combined the webserver and the 365 exchange server, it took a few hours to finalize but it did seem to resolve the issue.

For some reason in the last few days, the form has stopped working again, the customer doesn't receive a confirmation email, nor does the [email protected] address - the only thing I can thing of is that the domain is not allowing the webserver to send email or something to that nature.

I have submitted test bookings which have gone nowhere and had no response to any address, however if I just send emails to the [email pro... Read more

Hi all.

I am using WebEasy Professional 6 to design my website. I have inserted a form on my 'contact us' where clients can submit comments, however these comments display in html format when I view it in my inbox (Microsoft Outlook). Does anyone have any suggestions to correct this? Thanks!

Answer:Form on website displaying comments in html

Greetings, BexBomb.

Sounds like you've got something missing, most likely a bracket. Look for code similar to this:

<form>yada yada</form

Notice the missing > after the second "form".

If you can't find the culprit, post the address and I'll take a look at it, or you can validate the page at w3.org which should show any HTML mistakes on the page.

Well, not if the message doesn't allow html or bbcode. I'm guessing from the screenshot that the box only allows text. The best you can do is ascii art (assuming it aligns properly) or text smilies.

MAPI problems, sending web forms
If I fill in a form on a website, and press submit it just opens a blank email page outlook express rather than sends the information |I have already filled in. Help. Apparently it is something to do with MAPI but I have dfone a MAPI fix but no difference.

Answer:I can't submit a form on a website, it brings up a blank outlook express page

That is a problem withe the FORM on that webpage, not with your browser.
Click on View/Page Source and find <form and then type=submit.
Somewhere between those items is where it goes wrong for them.

If those people can't get it right, it is either a spoof, phishing for creditcard details, or a webdesigner that's not competent.

I just installed Adobe Acrobat 4.05 on my IBM Aptiva 500 running Win 98. I then tried installing Adobe Filler and the install aborts claiming that it can't find Adobe Exchange v3.0 or above. What is Adobe exchange? When I look at Adobe's site I can't find it. Of course it doesn't help that their site search engine wasn't working this morning nor the ability to write technical feedback to them. If anyone knows and can help me, I'd appreciate it.

Answer:Adobe Acrobat Filler

Assumption:

You've installed the full-blown version of Acrobat and NOT Acrobat Reader, is that right?

Did you uninstall any previous versions?
Did you do a complete install? To my knowledge, Exchange came with Acrobat.

You guys probbaly heard of oblytile the custom tile maker for win 8.

It has an option to convert shortcuts to tiles but its not detecting most of my shortcuts.I know you can manually choose the program path but it doesnt work when different shortcuts share the same .exe .

For example the Office Infopath 2013 is in fact 2 programs : InfoPath Filler and InfoPath Designer and Indeed ther are 2 shortcuts. But they are not detected by Oplytile so I have to point the program path to the Infopath.exe. The problem is that the tile created opens the Infopath Filler and not Designer which I inted to use more often.

So how should I proceeed in order to add to oblytile shortcuts list the above programs or maybe there is a way to make the Infopath.exe to open the Designer instead the Filler?

I use OmniForm 5.0 and its Filler program on many client computers (100+) to process form documents. Program works flawlessly under XP. With the use of Vista I have a few computers that have been experiencing the same problem.. in trying to open certain forms Windows pops up a error window that says it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.

This is a problem that occurs only on Vista, and only on a few (4-5) machines. OmniForm Filler will always open OK. However, when I attempt to open certain individual forms it begins to open the form and after several seconds pops up the error message. Sometimes the form will open and everything will work OK, but when you close the form and try to reopen it shuts down. It seems that if the forms is a larger document that it takes more time to open it and somehow the system times out.

Working with a new Inspiron 3668 and trying to install expansion cards. Three slots are available.
There is a hardware wrinkle that is new to me.  This box uses a card retention bracket that is attached to the chassis.  it swings down and snaps in place--no screw as in the other Dell boxes I have used. Nice idea.
However, the card filler brackets (the metal strips you remove when you insert PCI cards) aren't "floating" the way they do on my other Dells.  They are attached somehow, and I see no obvious way to remove them.  Do I pry them up or push them in or do something else?  The brackets have a cross-shaped cutout as if for a Phillips screwdriver.
The 3668 service manual is quite helpful for many topics, but neglects this one, unfortunately.  I appreciate any advice to help me not break anything.

Answer:Inspiron 3668 remove filler bracket?

They are break away slot covers.
You get a large phillips screw driver #2 or so and put into the X in the center and pop with your hand on the screw driver handle to break out.
Or bend back and forth to break the welds on the side.
Stick a screwdriver in one of the slots and start rocking it back and forth to break the little places where there is still some metal holding it in.

How expensive would this be? I hope not too much... If it is something that is selling software with it, but thats what makes it expensive, tell me the way to get it without the software so it is cheaper. I have plenty of video editing programs and stuff, I just need to get the stuff there.

Hi All,

Noob first-time poster I'm afraid!

I'm new to Access 2007 (but have used 2003 & 2000 reasonably extensively).

I'm building an App and have created all the necessary tables, as well as creating the relationships in the Database Tools area (which I know are correct - I'm a SQL Server DBA in my day job)!

Anyway, it's an almost text book example of an employers and employees database; one employer having many employees (employerID is the foreign key on the employee table).

I have created an employer form (using the wizard) which is fine, but then when I add a button to open the employee form (selecting 'Open the form and find specific records', matching employerID on the Employer table with EmployerID on the Employee table) it doesnt work. Instead, I get a popup box asking me for the EmployerID! Even if I manually enter the correct employerID when the popup box appears it actually displays all records, so I'm sure that the problem is more fundamental (and therefore, probably my fault)!

I'm hoping that I've just overlooked something REALLY stupid, but would apprecaite any suggestions!

Cheers,
Ian.

Answer:Access 2007 Form Button Wizard - Form does not open with the correct records

I have seen this kind of problem with Access 2007 VBA code which does not work when it dod in 2000-2003.
It can be a Syntax problem which you may be able to get around, if not you can get around the problem bby using a Criteria in the Query that supplies the Employee Form.
Although I would have thought it would be better design wise to have the Employees as a Subform or Tabbed Subform on your Employer Mainform.
I do not have Access 2007, only 2003 so I can't help with the VBA, but you could post the code anyway.

Did you use a Wizard to create the Employee Form, if so check the Record Source SQL it may be preventing your EmployerID from working.

I sent to look at my Sent Items tonight and to my surprise I saw another email apparently sent yesterday that I definitely didn't send.

I was astonished to find this as I have just upgraded to Vista in the last 2 days and have sent minimal emails.

The subject is "Form posted from Microsoft Internet Explorer." & is sent to a Hotmail account. The attachment is a POSTDATA.ATT. When I look at this file in txt format it has info such as one of my email addresses, my website & description - as if I had filled out a web form & pressed Submit.

Now, thinking about it, shouldn't IE let you know that it is about to send data?

One strange thing is that the email is dated yesterday evening in the Sent list, but when I open the email to view it, it will always have the current date & time - seemingly from the Windows clock.

I am thinking that either

1) this is due to a bug in the new IE & yesterday I visited a website which submitted data via email without my knowledge or

2) this email is an old email that I Imported from backed up email (PST format) from a form I ACTUALLY sent that Internet Mail has redated - maybe something went

Sorry for the long post but I'm just wary, hope it makes sense! I was liking Windows Vista so far!

I have moved this to vista forum as I believe it is more likely to be a vista live mail issue

Hi all

I have a simple Access (2003) db which has a single form view with a subform. The main form is a record based upon a physical case file the subform only details actions past and future, a sort of event log.

I also have a continuous form which displays all upcoming actions sorted by date on all cases for a particular user so they can see just how busy they are likely to be for a particular period. What I would like to do is have an on click() property for the detail of the continuous form so that it opens the main form filtered by the record in the continuous form that was clicked. User can then update or add new events for that case before closing form and returning to the continuous form

Hope this makes sense

Answer:MS access open single form filtered by selected record in continuous form

coasterman, welcome to the Forum.
It makes perfect sense.
If you add a Command Button to the Continuous Form and after selecting the mainform select the "Open the Form and find specific data to display". This will give you the code that you need to add to your On Click or On Double Click property or of course leave the button and use that.

Hello,
thanks for taking a look at this thread, any help will be greatly appreciated by a complete Noob.

I've been given a LOT of help by members of this Forum (especially OBP) with a DB I'm making as a first look at any type of IT product, and I'm very grateful, so thank you all.

Recently, I was advised to take a look at the "Tabbed" style of "MainForm" instead of the "Switchboard" style I originally used. I must say, I really like the tabbed style much more than the switchboard but I've hit one hurdle that I can't seem to overcome.

In the Switchboard style, I was able to set a form to load in either DATA ENTRY = YES or DATA ENTRY = NO mode depending on which sub-switchboard the user selected. For example, I had a ENTER NEW sub-switchboard that all forms would open in DATA ENTRY = YES mode & I had another EDIT EXISTING sub-switchboard that all forms would open in DATA ENTRY = NO mode.

However, with the new tabbed style, I cannot set the form load type for separate tabbs, it will only accept the LAST type as the GLOBAL type. Example, on the ENTER NEW tab, I set the form to load as DATA ENTRY = YES & sets the form to open in DATA ENTRY = YES on both tabs, then I go to the EDIT EXISTING tab & set the same form to DATA ENTRY = NO & it sets the form to open in both tabs in DATA ENTRY = NO mode.

So, my question is:
Can I set the same form to load differently on different tabs on the same MainForm?
If so, w... Read more

Answer:Solved: MS Access - Tabbed MainForm - How to make a form open a form in multiple mode

I would just copy the Subform, so you have version 1 for data entry with the Data Entry set to "Yes" and version 2 set to "No".
The only thing you need to do then is to Requery the Editing form each time you make an entry in the data entry form.
Although I prefer to just have an Edit form with a "New Record" button for the data entry.

My multi item form isn't letting me add new records, only update and delete current ones.

My guess it that this is because the form is based on a multi-table query. That's fine, I can make a new form specifically for adding new records, but I'd like to be able to salvage this form if possible. Is there any way to either force this form to accept new records in the bottom row, or is there any way to get rid of the "add record" bottom row completely so it's not misleading users into thinking they can add records here?

Thanks in advance.

I have a database which ultimately will have a couple of thousand records. The primary table has 30+ fields. I have lots of queries and connected reports to show various subsets of the data needed from the table. However, there are times when what is needed is all fields for a specific subset. Because the records sought often need to be filtered by several criteria, I've found the "Filter by Form" option to work well. I have a button on the main dashboard marked "Find Record" that automatically opens a search form in the "Filter by Form" mode. This allows me to enter information into as many controls as necessary, and returns exactly the right records after clicking on "Toggle Filters" on the ribbon. The problem is that ultimately I need to make this "Access-free". The goal is to create an application from the database without ribbons. I've created a button to run the filter, and another one to print the results, but when the search form is open in the "Filter by Form" mode, it greys out the buttons. I understand that there is a GotFocus command or something similar. Can anyone help with specifics, both the syntax of the command and where the command needs to be typed? Thanks a bunch...I look forward to your reply.
