Preferred Solution: displaying html tags on a webpage

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: displaying html tags on a webpage

Depending on your OS, you can access internet options that will allow you to turn off the html feature. This will allow you to view in text only. The problem is you may not see the programming without the right kind of font. It's like trying to open an html document in wordpad. I'm not sure how to do this, but be patient and maybe someone here can help you.

I hope no one minds that this is a bit of a double-post: I posted first in 'Software' -but to no avail so here is my post:
"Hello,
I'm sure that their must be a way to display HTML tags on a web page -for example to show *how* something written with HTML was done.
Thanks very much,
522."
-The replies in the Software forum were about 'view source' -which is not what I wanted -I want to find a TAG -or a way to show HTML TAGS on a real webpage.
Thanks for any suggestions (and thanks to you kittens who replied to my first post on this subject).
Yours,
522.

Hello,My Avira keeps finding daily everytime I scan it.....HTML/Exploit.Mhtml HTML and HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen HTML script viruses. This has been going on a long time. The only thing I have noticed is high cpu 90-100% in task manager all the time, which does'nt seem to impact the speed of the computer. Occasionally, I pick up things in Malwarebytes and Spybot if I neglect to run a scan on Avira for a few days. I've also scanned Adaware and Avast but nothing shows up on them. Hi all,
My problem started a few weeks ago! I caught a Virus and Dr. Web got rid of it as well as some trojan downloaders that Malwarebytes killed.
The virus ruined my Avast as well as Google Chrome - so I installed Avira and Zone Alarm Firewall as well as ZA Forcefield browser. Avira continues to tell me I have a virus and quarantines it. I contacted Avira and they say it looks like a Zone Alarm problem - I contacted ZA - and am still waiting - I also uploaded these to Avira to be checked for a false positive and have not heard back from them either.
I was wondering - if I still have a problem or if this is a false positive?
Here is what Avira's log says on the last catch:

Answer:HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen HTML script virus

A common attack against the web infrastructure can be the infection of harmless web pages. Some malware changes every HTML file stored on the disc and adds a link (very often an IFrame) to a site hosting malicious code. Other attacks can aim for the web servers and try to insert forwarding to the pages hosted there. The owner of these pages is advised to take them offline. Fix the hole (either on his own PC or on the server), check the pages for infections, clean them and go online again. Infected Web Pages often contain additional Iframe, Object or Script Tags. The Script Tags often contain encrypted Code.Special detection HTML/Infected.WebPage.GenSince Avira is making the detection and you submitted samples, I suggest you wait on a reply from them or follow up by contacting them again with a reminder.See this Avira link for a discussion of a similar report.

Hi, all.

I hope this is the correct area for this. My previous thread was moved, despite me not being in a business and it being an alternative programme I was using.

Anyway, I have some HTML code I would like someone to have a look at for me. It is telling me </BODY> and </HTML> are in error. I looked carefully and saw one of the blockquote tags is in red. I tried using paragraph tags inside this particular quote block to no avail. I also used "</BR>" and "< /BR>" which also didn't help. (Someone told me the space is required in the break tag, which doesn't make sense to me. It shows them in red, so I went back to using "<BR>" instead.)

Try adding this line at the very top of the page just before the opening HTML tag. This is a document type definition. The error may be caused because this is missing. The way it is now whatever is validating this html would assume it's HTML5. Some of the html tags in the document are no longer part of of the current HTML specification. Adding this statement tells the validator that the page is HTML 4.01.

Hi,
I wish to use a 3rd parties website from within my VB program.
Basically it has an input box for a date and a submit button, the site then sends you to the relevant page.

My question is:
How do I duplicate what the <FORM> tags do on that site in my VB program?
In other words how do I send a date (or any data) to the targeted script via VB?

Thanks to anyone who can help.
Phil.

Hello,

I use the Cute Html Editor to create web pages and lately, the .jpg .gif .bmp extentions arent there at the end of my files when I view them in the program. I have to re-add the extentions every time I rename anything, etc.

Can anyone please tell me how I can set it to show the file extensions? I tried going to Control Panel/Folders but I couldnt find anything there for that.

Claudia

Answer:VIEWING .JPG .GIF tags in Html Editor

Let's say I send a mass email to all my friends. Obviously, they would all have different email accounts, providers, browsers etc etc. If I put those special html tags on them, will everysingle person be able to view it??? I"m not talking about just the <b>bold</b>, or <i>italics</i>. I mean those other things that you don't see to often, such as <s>strike</s> and
<marquee ALIGN="Top" LOOP="infinite" BEHAVIOR="slide"
<BGCOLOR="#FF0000" DIRECTION="left" HEIGHT=30 WIDTH=200>
moving marquee tags too.
</marquee>.

I use yahoomail, and there is a function in yahoo to "allow html tags." I did that, and sent an example to myself. It worked fine. What about other mails, such as Outlook, hotmail, etc etc etc. Are there any limitations this? Will everybody be able to see the effect??

Dear macropod,

Split from: insert html tags into word document

I've never dealt with macros before and trying to do this myself is making my brain melt haha.

However i need it ONLY for files that are opened, not located.

Also is there a way to turn it on and off if it is automated?

Could you please help?

For that you could use:

I'm trying to tag documents so they can be found easily but I don't have the option to add a tag to a file. The Details panel in my Windows Explorer does not display tags in the list of properties. Also, when I right-click a file, go to Properties and then click the Details tab, tags are not listed there either.

Is there a way to turn this feature on? Thanks in advance for any help.

I previously used Firefox, but had some problems connecting to a couple of my favourite websites. They'd just be interminably slow to open and it became a huge annoyance.

So I recently installed Opera 10 and am just getting to grips with it, fixing some annoying defaults (like Password Manager).
I've come across a couple of niggles, and wonder if anyone here can help.

First problem occurs when posting / editing / quoting messages on internet forums. In Internet Explorer and in Firefox, I can see rendered images, smilies and text formatting as I'm writing. I can use CTRL + B to bold etc.
Using Opera, images don't appear - I just see the image's address inside [ IMG ] [ /IMG ] HTML tags. Smilies and text formatting, the same.

This means I have to Preview messages to make sure things look as I intend them to. This is awkward when there's a lot of formatting in a message.
Is there a way to make Opera show images and formatting in forum posts whilst I'm editing, not just after I've posted?
The second issue is to do with the wee icons next to my bookmarks. I have everything checked under Delete Private Data, but unfortunately this deletes the bookmark icons too.
I'm wondering if I uncheck "Clear bookmark visited time" if this would retain the icons? And what exactly is "bookmark visited time"? I don't want to retain any sort of log of when I or other users of the PC visited particular websites, especially ... Read more

I've got several hundred word documents that I need to do some formatting on. I need to go through them and insert html tags into the document as per below...

a short bold text line

becomes

a short < b >bold text< / b > line

Minus the spaces of course.

At the moment I really only need bold, italic, underline, and unordered lists.

Does anyone know of the easiest and most efficient way of doing this? (Or some macro code?)

I don't have much experience in Word, but currently looking at writing a macro.

Answer:insert html tags into word document

Hi,

You could use a macro like the following. It processes all file in the selected folder.

Code:
Sub UpdateDocuments()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim strFolder As String, strFile As String, wdDoc As Document
strFolder = GetFolder
If strFolder = "" Then Exit Sub
strFile = Dir(strFolder & "\*.doc", vbNormal)
While strFile <> ""
Set wdDoc = Documents.Open(FileName:=strFolder & "\" & strFile, AddToRecentFiles:=False, Visible:=False)
With ActiveDocument.Range.Find
.Text = ""
.Forward = True
.Wrap = wdFindContinue
.Format = False
.MatchCase = True
.MatchWholeWord = False
.MatchWildcards = False
.MatchSoundsLike = False
.MatchAllWordForms = False
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Bold = True
With .Replacement
.ClearFormatting
.Text = "<b>^&</b>"
.Font.Bold = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
.ClearFormatting
.Font.Italic = True
With .Replacement

.Text = "<i>^&</i>"
.Font.Italic = False
End With
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
.ClearFormatting

Hello there. I am making own DVD images to be burned later (mainly movies), some with downloaded or self-made subtitles. Some of them contain simple HTML tags (italics), which are supposed to be eighter lyrics of a song or a story telling. But when ISO image compiled with DVD Flick, these italics subtitles are without formatting (displaying as normal straight subtitles). How can I enable italics for my subtitles without affecting all subtitles (I don't want to have all subtitles italics, just where I used the italics HTML tag)?

Try this, don't know if it will work or not but go to tools, options and on the view tab make sure there is no tic in the Field codes.

Second check the view you are in. Sounds like you are in viewing the htm source as listed under view.

Are you seeing all the htm tags or just the one for bold?

Hello.

I haven't worked with Word scripts before and don't really know if this is possible, but from what I've read it should be.

Basically, I use a plain text editor when I write on my phone on the go, where I use HTML tags to indicate formatting like this:

Normal text <i>text I want italic,</i> some more normal text

Is it possible to create a script that makes words between <i> tags italic and then remove the tags? (same for <b> for bold and <u> for underlined text) and how would I record or write one?

And also, can I use one to remove blank lines?

I use Word 2010

Answer:Word macro to format plain text using HTML tags

I imagine you could write a macro to that checks this and does the appropriate action.

You will however have to establich the codes you will be using.

I don't know if there will be a conflict when you open word and depending upon the layout <i> might be interpreted before the macor runs, but I think it's a aquestion of trial and error,

<i> </i>
<b> </b>
<u> </u>
<rmv> </rmv>
etc...

I have extracted data via sql from one application and need to upload it into a newer version of the same testing software. The problem: The data from the older version uses html tags for all formatting, when uploading the test cases to the new version, the tags load as literal text.

What I need is the formating to upload as it was formated within the older application.

Can anyone help? I am not a programmer.

Thank you.

Hi
As my title suggests my bro's laptop has this annoying infection.
I have Avira like my logs will say and the infection seems to be in a firefox profile. (Can I reinstall Firefox to fix my problem?)
I use Firefox but my brother IE 8 (and so IE is default).
At random times and when connected to Internet, a popup appears with usually
a scanner showing you its scanning your computer or ad for bad, virulent AV software. I know it's bad so I click
the X button in corner and it will go for a variable amount of time.
Avira btw cannot get rid of it and in fact does not even find it after scanning with maximum options.
This also happens sometimes much rare tho: A message appears telling I have an infected computer and wants me to press OK and scan using IE. I click X and once it opened IE with scanning screen. I click X ASAP.

One more issue: Firefox sometimes will say "Firefox has stopped working.."
and that it will close. Right away a balloon pops up in tray telling me the browser was closed to protect me from Data Execution Prevention.

Avira sometimes at random times pops up saying Virus or unwanted program was found, right? It asks me what to do with this file.
Move to quarantine
Delete
Overwrite and delete
Rename
Deny access
Ignore

I usually picked delete or deny access
It found the virus in this file:

Right i brought a new laptop at xmas, its running windows xp pro. 2 weeks ago signed up to tiscali broadband. All the stuff came through, i installed it, went to windows update, downloaded all of the fixes and updates, including IE7.Friday night i was running fine, now yesterday i can connect to the internet but i can't display any webpages?? Windows messenger works fine. Tiscali says everything is fine with them. So i removed IE7 and went back to IE6 and i still can't display any webpages. I have been through the help files on the pc with no success. Can anybody help me? Many thanks.

Sometimes when I go to view a webpage I get a different view to what I would normally expect. It seems to be what I would call a minimalist view of what is normally there. I have put photos of both different views up on my SkyDrive to illustrate what this problem appears as so hopefully someone might be able to tell me why it does this. The funny thing is that when this occurs it might happen to one or two websites but all the others that I browse to will appear normally. Thank you for having a look at my problem and hopefully telling me what is happening, Pedro.

Answer:Problem displaying webpage

It looks like the page did not fully load, or the pages CSS file did not load. Does refreshing the page when it displays wrong correct the problem?

I am using Front page 2000. My web page main heading does not display what I tell it to do. Instead it displays 'NEW page 1 Windows'. I am using Frames. Where could I be going wrong?

Answer:Webpage Heading - Not displaying what I want

The title tag content obviously needs to be changed to your chosen title. How you do that will depend on FP2k, which I have never used (thankfully).By the way; I hope you don't mind me inquiring, but is this project destined for publication to the web or is it just an experiment? If this will go public, ditch the frames.

Yep. When webpages are made in any Microsoft program, they just assume that you will be viewing them in Internet Explorer. But that isn't always the case.

I've never had any real problems like this, since I hand code my pages, and then cross-check them with four browsers (IE, FF, Opera, and Mac OS X Safari). But that may not be a practical solution for you.

Hey,

Every web page on my computer is loading just fine, the my most visited website imdb.com isn't. The style sheet won't load and the page becomes completely unusable. I don't have this problem with any other site.

Attached is a screenshot of what I see. It displays this way in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I cleared cache and cookies, but still have same problem. Why would this happen?

Thanks

Ebay home page will not display fully---I get text but not images. I am using IE7 and Vista.However, it displays perfectly with Firefox which suggests it is not caused by my internet security program but rather by IE7. Incidentally, it also displays perfectly with IE6.Anyone got any idea what the problem/solution is?

Answer:Webpage not fully displaying

IE7 - in Tools>Internet Options>Advanced make sure that Show Pictures is ticked.Or - it might be that your Security settings are set too high in IE7.

I have recently changed from ie 6 to ie 7 I have done this once before and went back to ie6. However I now appear to be stuck with ie 7 and I think I have identified a conflict with ie7 and Norton 2006. I have switched off Norton and I am now using Windows firewall.Do you think that this will improve the display of the webpages?

Answer:Ie7 and problems displaying webpage

Probably.You should have turned your firewall off before you changed from IE6 to IE7.If it is Norton Internet Security that you have.You could go into Add Remove make sure show up dates is ticked.Remove IE7 and that takes you back to IE6. Run C Cleaner.Turn your firewall off and then re-Install Norton.It should work Ok then. Windows Firewall should work all right but it is not a great Firewall.

So, to clarify, this isn't actually my computer, but I built it and maintain it. in short, my mate's computer is not displaying this specifically, it's not showing the gear calculator itself (the part that should slide out after the webpage has loaded).

I am fairly tech savy (as a computer technician and Sysadmin in training) but I'm not familiar with webpage coding and it's elements yet. What exactly should I be looking at here?

He says that he hasn't installed/messed with anything recently that might affect it (he ISN'T very tech savy, mind you). He came back after about a week of not using it and then this. It isn't browser specific, either, I have tried Aurora, Chrome, IE and all of them have the same thing, so I must either have a setting wrong or something is not installed, I am thinking.

Answer:Computer not displaying certain webpage elements

Greetings Bukinnear, to TSF,

Have you got SuperAntiSpyware installed on this computer?

The reason that I ask is, that SASW has a Web site blocker; if it is installed, then right click on the icon in the system tray, and untick the blocker.

You could also try Mozilla Firefox and see if that makes a difference.
Post back with your answers/queries.

Kind Regards,

Hi,I have been having problems accessing Ebay's Christmas Treasure hunt webpage (yes, I am sad and wanna know what its all about).The address is :click here;h=v3|31e5|0|0|%2a|l;12666076;0-0;2;8549086;13386-326|44;8142419|8160315|3;;~sscs=%3fclick hereI noticed in the corner that it said "Restricted Site", which I assumed was why it wouldnt come on. After looking at the list of sites, I noticed "doubleclick.net" was included. So I removed it from my restricted sites list.Now, when I try click the link, the "zone" is displayed as "Internet", yet the page still does not display.Any ideas?Cheers.

Do you have any sort of adblocking installed? Part of the address is "adfarm" which many hosts files b;ock.

Iím creating a website that will handle tons of data, using MS SQL Server for the active content, basically dropping records into a variety of webpage templates for the end-user. But, my back-office first has to sort through tons of raw data and whip it into shape, drafting and editing text, cropping/resizing photos, assigning links, etc. Iím using Access 2003 for that process, to handle everything that is not yet ready to be imported into the SQL Server for publication to the live website.

I understand that I can display data from an Access db on a webpage, somehow (just a facsimile of the real webpages in which it will be displayed, later, one record at a time). It would be very helpful for the back-office staff to have an in-house, interactive way to see how the data theyíre editing will eventually appear on the website, giving them insights into how they need to adjust it further.

My head is reeling from all of the different stuff Iíve read about how I might do this. Can you all give some general advice on how I should get started, which direction I should take?

Thank you.

Answer:Displaying Access data records on a webpage

Access 2000-2003 uses Data access Pages to display data on the Web. They are an html version of a Form and can be created by saving a Form as an access Page.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!
Click here to download HJTInstall.exe

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi,
Our Avira Antivir keeps picking up this HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen trojan and every time we click deny access or delete it still keeps on popping up. It has been non stop for 2 days.

Used Spyware blaster, spybot search and destroy, spyware terminator and Avira and cannot remove this. Only spyware terminator picked up but suggests you have to uninstall the program which we can't as it's apparently in our temporary files.

Hello!
I dont know how i got this, but Avira detected it, i cant seem to get rid of it. And now, it has modified AVG and i cannot use it anymore.
Any help on how to remove it?

It appeared at the same time as a appel.gen or something similar to that, i cannot view the name of this one since Avira broke before i could take note of it. If you know which one this is, could you also provide a solution for it?

Ive not downloaded anything, or opened links from IM/email, so i dont know how i got it. Im using Windows XP professional.

Thanks!

Hi there,

All of the sudden this past weekend my antivrus keeps popping up with a message that my computer is infected over and over and over again, no matter what I click. I try to deny access to the file, quarantine and delete and it just keeps popping up. Seems if i just move the alerts to the side, then they stop popping up, but that's not a solution is it?

I have run CCcleaner, Malwarebytes, ISObit, Spybot search and destroy and deleted anything it finds.
It's still happening.
The alerts seems to point into a c: folder in appdata and IE5 something something blog ???
I don't even use IE, I've always used Firefox.

One strange things I have noticed though is that usually when I use CCcleaner, it cleans everything out and then if i would run it again there would be nothing there, BUT if i do it every 10 seconds, there are Internet Explorer temp files in there each time i do it which is odd I think.

Can anyone enlighten me here on this?

Thanks so much!
Mike.

Please do this:

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.

Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. Rename it to a .com extension. You may need to ensure file extensions are viewable.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types

* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.Double click the renamed .com file.
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan.

Click the image to enlarge it
In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Ensure the following are unchecked Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in reply.

Hey Guys,

I recently performed a virus scan on my Vista Premium Laptop and it has detected the following.

HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen Portal[1]
HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen Portal[2]

and a load of

TR/VB.cgu.1

At the moment, their in quarantine, but I want to find a way to remove these from my system completely.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Answer:HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen

Hi jayhunt88,
Welcome to the Malware Forum!

In your antivirus program, there will be a place where you can singly or collectively mark the items in quarantine and have the deleted. If you're using some of the Norton's software, they have specific online instructions for emptying the quarantine bin. If this is the software you are using, you can go to this link for help with Norton's quarantine: Removing Files from Norton Antivirus Quarantine

Somehow I seem to have HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen and I cant get rid of it

I have run several malware removal programs but they get closed by something while running for just a minute or less

Any ideas on how to get rid of this??

I have followed a few threads on doing so but everything I try to run shuts down and then wont load again to run

Thanks for any help

Answer:I seem to have --> HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen

It looks as if the HTML/Infected WebPage.Gen has gone?? as it hasnt appeared for awhile. But it seems that I still have something. If I try and run any AV program it still only runs for a few seconds to a minute or so then shuts down, Then If I try to run it again it is not able to run and the Desktop Icon has been partially removed. It wont run unless i reinstall the program.

I tried to run HJT and same issue, ran for about 1 minute then shut down. Now my desktop icon looks wrong and it wont run

i accidentally downloaded and opened a program because i thought it was gona let me view this certain type of media, anyways, it put some malware on my computer and ive used antivir to try and get it off but it hasnt detected it, well it keeps coming up from my temp files from internet explorer, i know that the temp files arent the source of the problem because i keep deleting them and they come back, spysweeper might have fixed some of the problems i dont know, i used registry mechanic to try and fix the problem but no luck because it fixed the problems it had seen, which didnt fix the malware. I have hijack this, but i recently like a month ago had reformatted my hard drive, i have enough firewalls and antivirus software but i let this little bugger past and i cant get rid of it. I have had experience dealing with malware before but i looked at my hijack this checklist and i am not familiar enough with some of the programs to start checking stuff off with being certain it is what it is, I just need some help getting rid of this malware and possibly ending all the little ad crap that keeps dropping into my computer from internet explorers little holes. I would greatly appreciate the help thanks

For the last week or so, MS Word now opens when I try accessing a programme's webpage (but not if I'm in a browser). Word is trying to perform HTML editing on the webpage for some reason. Can't understand why this is happening, and I really haven't a clue what to do to fix it. HTML editing is something I've not done before and don't really want to just now!

Can anyone please help ?

It may be a small matter but how do you make a webpage redirect after a certain amount of time.

I'm using publisher to create my webpage as i find it the most easiest application on my computer to use for the job.
My websites at www.dantulloch.com but is not up and running yet! I'm trying to publish to the web a make contact page where people can send comments and stuff to me via a form on the web. I've done the form and I directed the results of the form to me in the form of mail but how do I redirect the thank you page to my homepage after a certain amount of time?

Tricky one!!
And I can't use frontpage because my ISP doesn't allow frontpage extensions.

Hello,

Today my Avast Antivirus diplayed several pop-ups notifying me that it had blocked several harmful files. My computer also prompted me numerous times to open a command prompt in Windows, but I kept denying/cancelling these prompts. After closing the messages, I began the process of discovering what was wrong, and I kept receiving Avast pop-ups every 30 seconds or so. These messages notify me that "Avast Web Shield has blocked a harmful webpage or file," and they all show the Infection "URL: Mal." The Process is usually located in C:\\Windows\explorer.exe.

I have run several Malware and virus removal tools, including my Avast Antivirus scanner, Malwarebytes, adwcleaner, HitmanPro, TFC, and JRT. However, the problem still persists. It does not matter if I have a web browser open (I use Firefox), and the pop-ups only stop once I disconnect from the internet.

Below I have pasted my FRST file, and I have attached the Addition file to this post. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

hi,

If you still need help you can do this. Iam usually only on this site once or twice per day so you may not get a response back from me until the following day.

Copy paste whats below inside the box into notepad.
Save it as fixlist.txt in the same location you have FRST, your desktop.
Start FRST like you did before except this time click on the Fix button once. Machine may reboot to finish. After its down you will find a new log on the desktop called fixlog.txt.
Please copy/paste fixlog.txt in your reply

I am on a PC running Vista. I have an infection which my Avira Antivirus is calling HTML/Infected.Webpage.Gen - Malware. It seems to creat files in the temporary internet files folder which are HTML files with "promote" in the filename, and also script files labeled "b". These files regenerate instantaneously upon deletion. It seems to redirect to different web pages, and I get strange popups asking if I would like to navigate away from this page, and about script errors and debugging. These popups regenerate as well. I could not enclose an HJT log because the malware disables any malware assossiated program I attempt to run, including HJT.

I have ie 8 on a dell laptop vista bus. I have and aspx page on a password protected folder of my server (windows 2003) that asks for an id number, looks up the student in a database, retrieves his data and displays it and then asks you for an email address to send the certificate to. This page works fine.

It then redirects to page 2 which has vb code that sets variables from the previous form and looks up a county name from a database. The code then creates a JPEG image from an existing graphics background and puts the textual data in the graphics image and saves to disk. The code then creates a mailer object, mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer"), and attaches the jpg image and sends the mail. THIS WORKS FINE. Next the jpg image is deleted and the asp:textboxes are updated to reflect the status and a continue button is made visible.

The problem is that IE 8, while performing the code with out error then displays the HTML code and not the webpage. The HTML code follows:
<%@ Page Language="vb" Aspcompat="True" AutoEventWireup="false" Codebehind="email1aNew.aspx.vb" Inherits="CertsDelivery.email1aNew" codePage="65001"%>

Guidance would be greatly appreciated on this one (last of a string of challenges...).

How do you/is it possible to path statement in HTML webpage? Or that may not be the correct course.

A webpage in a subdirectory on the web server will not correctly access a Log page (using webbot "include") created by that document within the same subdirectory; it will however correctly access it if either the Log alone is moved to the root, or if both the Log and parent page are both located in the root.

How can I create a path statement to direct the "Include" to the same subdirectory.

The pages are at -
Parent page: http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/DanceQuotes-Submit.htm
Log page: http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/DanceQuotesLog.htm
HTML "Include" string: <!--webbot bot="Include" tag="BODY" u-include="DanceQuotesLog.htm" -->

This is giving me fits - any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Warmest regards - Scott Nilsson / Atlanta, GA

Answer:Path statement in HTML webpage?

Im not quite sure what you mean but hopefully this will help.

you can refer to relative paths in html.

for example if I had a web page with an image and the image was in a folder called images and the folder was in the same dir I would link to images/imagename.xxx Similairly you can link to the parent folder using .. so if the images folder was one above the html containing folder i would use ../images/imagename.xxx

I put a banner at the top of the page, and another banner below that. However in IE and chrome there was a space between the photos, so I combines the in paint. Saved the photo as banner1 and it worked the way it's suppose to.

However when I upload the index.html to my webpage it only displays the original banner 1 and not not banner 2 at all like it did in the preview of .html.

I've saved it as the right file and uploaded several times. I don't know what's wrong with it.

I closed my internet before and Avira popped up with a window saying that a virus had been detected and it had a list of actions that I could take such as delete, quarantine etc. I clicked on quarantine and then did a full scan. Nothing was detected but going to the quarantine list it says the following:

Detection - Contains recognition pattern of the HTML\Infected.WebPage.Gen HTML
Source - Users\a\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Kfiy92cp.default\Cache_002_

I went and cleared my cache after doing the Avira scan. I have also done a MalwareBytes scan and it is clear as well. I also went in and scanned the selected file in quarantine and nothing was detected.

I have a Windows 7 machine with IE11. It will display yahoo.com as if can not load any images on the page.
I have reset IE back to defaults and does not fix the issue. Other web browsers display this site correctly.
I have uninstalled IE 11 and by doing so the version of IE defaulted to IE 8 which showed the same symptoms. This seems to trail to any subdomains such as search.yahoo and mail.yahoo.

Hello everyone,
This issue is happening on my work computer. We recently upgraded to Windows 10, and I am currently running Internet Explorer 11. Prior to the upgrade to Windows 10 I had no issues, however after the upgrade a specific web page I use for work is displaying
incorrect characters on most of the links and buttons of the page. I have not noticed the issue on most web pages, however for a vital web page that we use to conduct business, it shows random characters instead of the text that should be there for the link.

Example: There is a tool bar that has options such as clicking "filter" to filter search results. However, my "filter" button shows a "F" as the link. Options beside it such as "clear all" and "Grid on/off"
instead show "w" and "j" for some odd reason. It just seems like the browser is displaying random characters instread of what it should be. There is even a link on the page that is a " ) " instead of the correct word it should
be displaying as a link.
Has anyone had similar issues before or have any idea what could be causing this? My colleagues all have my exact same setup and none of them are having issues. One colleague said sometimes he notices weird characters as soon as he loads the page, but it
corrects itself to the proper page display after a second or two. Perhaps something within IE 11 isn't loading correctly? Any ideas?

Thank you

Recently, my Windows (XP) help viewer has been displaying most CHM's as their source as opposed to rendered pages. For example, if I open the help for Window Media Player, I get a popup at the top of the viewer window that reads "This webpage might not be displayed properly. The content of the webpage does not match the type specified by the server. Click here for options..." In the options is a choice to "show restricted content." If I choose that, then I get a "File Download - Security Warning" window with buttons to open or save the page. Only after clicking "open" do I get to see the page in its correct form.

Now, if I open the help for ACDSee, and some other apps, I don't get that popup warning, but what I do get is just the XML code for the help pages. There's no option to view restricted content, etc.

Can anyone help? Please?

Thanks!

just pasted a jpg into open file and saved as web page

the page displays the info perfectly when i view it locally

what am i missing? ...not a web designer...duh!

Answer:Solved: index.html not displaying after upload

Are you uploading both the picture file and HTML file to your server?

Are you sure you are putting both files in the correct location on the hosting company's server? If the picture file and html file are in different folders on your computer are you duplicating that in the sub-directory structure on the server?

Are you trying to access the index.html page in your browser as www.domainname.com or www.domainname.com/index.html?

Hi all.

I am using WebEasy Professional 6 to design my website. I have inserted a form on my 'contact us' where clients can submit comments, however these comments display in html format when I view it in my inbox (Microsoft Outlook). Does anyone have any suggestions to correct this? Thanks!

Answer:Form on website displaying comments in html

Greetings, BexBomb.

Sounds like you've got something missing, most likely a bracket. Look for code similar to this:

<form>yada yada</form

Notice the missing > after the second "form".

If you can't find the culprit, post the address and I'll take a look at it, or you can validate the page at w3.org which should show any HTML mistakes on the page.

Howdy folks,

I am trying to get three rows from a mysql query result to print in three seperate columns in one row of an html table.

I used a tutorial and came up with:

<?php

$result = mysql_query("
SELECT
A.ID,
A.style,
A.tn,
A.desc
FROM
A
WHERE
A.ID >0");
if($r = mysql_fetch_array($result))
{
print("<table>");
print("<tr>");
$num = @mysql_num_rows($result);
$thumbcols = 3;
$thumbrows = 1+ round($num / $thumbcols);
function display_table() {
global $num, $result, $thumbrows, $thumbcols;
for($r=1;$r<=$thumbrows;$r++) {
print '<tr>';
for($c=1;$c<=$thumbcols;$c++) {
print '<td bgcolor="#999999" align="center" valign="top">';

printf("<a href=\"%s?ids=%s\"><img src=http://foobar.com/foobar/styles/%s></a><br>\n", $PHP_SELF, $r["ID"], $r["tn"]);
printf("<a href=\"%s?ids=%s\">%s</a><br>\n", $PHP_SELF, $r["ID"], $r["style"]);

print("</td>");
}
print("</tr>");
}
}
display_table();
print("</table>");
}
else {
print '&nbsp;';
} ?>

Problem is, this prints a very long list of imageless tn's.

Any ideas??? Suggestions much appreciated.

Hello,

I want to create a private website to manage my family tree. I am requesting ideas of how I can display the data in tree format in HTML. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Any Ideas On Displaying Family Tree In HTML

My first thought is to use nested unordered lists, all of which would be configured with CSS with list-style: none;
and background images for the connector lines.

The CSS style for the items would include padding to make room for the image.

Probably, each item, ie. person, would need a class name to designate which background image to use and where the padding and image goes.

Where you have a group of items that all need the same image, you could possibly wrap them in a div with a class
that puts the same image in each one.

This would be a bit of a brain teaser to get set up initially, but once you get the CSS rules properly defined,
the rest should be fairly easy.

Hello all. Yesterday, Avira Personal edition found the following program/virus/thing while I was opening Windows LIVE messenger:HTML/Infected.WebPage.GenThey were found here:'C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\4EFHK6W4\pid=Messenger_IMSCB2_234x60_MMN[1].htm.'C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\553S9XHB\pid=Messenger_IMSCB2_234x60_MMN[1].htm.Avira popped up 4 times with this instantly as I opened the program. Live messenger was minimized but running in the system tray. I moved the infected files to the quarantine. I scanned my PC with Avira in safe mode, as well as Spybot and Malwarebytes (only Windows and Users folder with Mbam). It came out clean. I then ran crap cleaner with its registry cleaner. I figured it was done. Today, I was using live messenger. It worked fine, until again, I got the same same thing. Aviria popped up. Exact same location. It popped up 4 times (just like last time). I moved them to the quarantine once again.So I am wondering if this is a false alarm for Avira? Or if not, how can I remove this virus? Did some of the ads in Windows live messenger get hijacked? I use this program daily (a leave it running all day), so I would like to remove the virus if there is one.I am running the Eset online scanner right this minute to see if it finds anythin... Hi,
I'm using Windows XP on an Inspiron, using a wireless secured network. I noticed when I used the Google toolbar (on Firefox, but same issue on IE and Chrome), I was getting a fake Google site with fake search results, very shortly thereafter my browsers wouldn't connect to the internet at all. IE completely disappeared. Now I have a spotty connection. My virus scans (AVG, Avira) aren't finding anything, and Trojan Removal removed a couple items but I'm still having the connection problems and dummy search engine. I'm getting warnings from Avira about "HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen" and "Vundo" infections. I ran Hijackthis, and I'll attach the DDS txts. I've never tried to fix my laptop myself, so please forgive my ignorance! Thanks for any help!

Answer:HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen and Vundo infection!

Hello missivy, I (as well as MicroSoft, McAfee and Symantec) recommend that you DO NOT have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't.2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.Therefore please go to add/remove in the control panel and remove one of these. Anti-Virus Free Antivirus or Avira AntiVir Antivirus **************** Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update. Please download Java Version 6 Update 15

Give me the code for a frame in webpage.I want the example width> height> and other tags with examples so I can easily change the numbers.

Answer:HTML Code for frame in webpage required

click here for a walkthrough, explanation of tags and some examples.It's impossible to give a specific example to edit yourself since you don't say what you want.You can have a left and main, top, left and main, top, left, bottom and main frameset or any one of the inline frame possibilities.If you get stuck ay all post back. If you have web editing software like Dreamweaver or FrontPage there is information in the helpfiles as well.

I am running Outlook 2007 on Vista Ultimate. I am having a strange problem with one of my newsletters.

I am subscribed to the "Windows Secrets" newsletter, I have my setting set to send me a full HTML letter. Until a week ago, all of these newsletters displayed properly as an HTML page. But something has happened, as of last week they show up only as a text message, i.e. :

Hello,

I have just started using the latest Opera Browser and Mail.

I like the Spam feature.

BUT my daily comic cartoons will not display. Apparently the HTML feature is either turned off or not supported. I cannot find the setting for HTML.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Penny

Answer:Opera and HTML feature (not displaying cartoon in email)

Hello,

Are there any Opera 7 users out there?

I have found the file extensions to set, under preferences, but the cartoons will still not load.

Penny.

Greetings,

For the past week I've been getting notices of HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen [virus] and random redirect tabs on Firefox to advertisement sites. I ran several scans on Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, SUPERAntiSpyware Free Ed., and Spybot - Search & Destroy. From time to time I find adware from cookies and they were able to delete it with reboot but they keep coming back. I don't know what else to do. Please give me advice and help as to what I should do to remove this. Thank you for your time.

Problem description: Stuff looks funny. Webpages are missing background info (see pics), desktop items' titles aren't visually blended with desktop background. WYSIWYG editor doesn't work when posting in various forums.

Attempted fixes: Uninstalled Java, updated Firefox

Recent changes: I went to http://www.pullandsave.com and Firefox notified me that it needed a plugin, which I saw was for Java. Instead of trusting my local junkyard to give me a safe web link to update my computer, I opened Sun Java and updated it through its own update console. Then Firefox got PO'd and disabled its java console and requested a restart.

I have since uninstalled Sun Java and all of its updates through Add/Remove Programs. I also used IE for a few minutes to see if it had this rendering problem as well, and it did (else my next step would have been to uninstall/reinstall Firefox).

I know enough to believe that Java isn't the problem and that it might be PHP / HTML related, but I don't have the know-how to try to fix this without instructions.

Hi

Open up Internet Explorer and click Tools > Internet Options, General tab, then at the bottom click Accessibility and make sure nothing is ticked, especially Ignore colors specified on webpages

Or could be a Windows Accessibility option, in Control Panel > Accessibility > click the Display tab > and untick Use high contrast and Apply.

and as you use Firefox then follow this View > Page Style should not be set to "No Style" should be "Basic Page Style"
