Display Properties will not apply settingsNVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 Display adapter

Question: Display Properties will not apply settingsNVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 Display adapter

Each time I start up settings in display properties resets to
Screen resolution 640 X 480
Color Quality low 8 - bit
I rest them to
1024 X 768
32 bit
apply and restart and they reset to the above.

The correct monitor and Adapter are selected.

I ran a update search for each and it says I have the latest driver version.

If I need to update the monitor and Adapter driver what version and where do I need to go?

Any Help would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

get the latest driver from Nvidia themselfs for your GFX card .. go here http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and click Graphics Driver > Gforce & TNT2 > XP/2000 and click GO ... this will locate the correct driver for you.

I have an NVIDIA Riva TNT2 model 64/model 64 pro adapter version 5.6.7.3 installed in my computer. Operating system of my computer is XP professional SP2. It won't load. Tried reinstalling it via the Add/Remove hardware menu still no lack. Tried updating the driver still no lack. Driver might be corrupted. Where can I get free copy of this driver so i can replace the corrupted one? The NVIDIA site provides for a higher version. Will this be alright to use as a replacement driver?

I have a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro pci bus videocard.
The other day I bought the follow up of MOH (sorry forgot the name because returning it to the store)but ofcource you already see the problem rightaway:error log file of the game told me the card was missing out on some functions. Can this card be updated so "heavy duty games won't be a problem in the future?(il2/fb-wolvenstein-cfs2 run good though!)

Thanx for listening!

Answer:nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro update wanted

Well...you can get the latest drivers for the card, but it won't help that much, because it's a TNT2...and PCI....

If you wanted to play newer games, you'd have to get a new video card....but if you're running a PCI video card right now, then it may not be worth it...check if you have an AGP slot, is should be above the PCI slots on the motherboard, and slightly offset from them...if you have an AGP slot, then that's good, because you could get a good video card...but if you don't, you'll probably be better off getting a whole new system rather than just upgrading the video.

I have the Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro video card and i want to install a game but the video card has to be in 256 color mode and in Windows i can only go to 32 bit what can i do? Any comments or posts would be great! Thank YOU!

Answer:Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro Problem?

Just to be clear, 32-bit is actually 16,777,216 colors, so its much more then 256 which is just 256 colors. So for 256 you need to lower the color depth not increase it.

Question: RIVA TNT2 Model 64

Memory Frequency GPU : 125.01 MHz
GPU Frequency : 125.01 MHz

Is this the standerd Frequency for a

RIVA TNT2 Model 64
PCI

Answer:RIVA TNT2 Model 64

125/150 (core and memory frequency, respectively) is usually the standard for a TNT2 M64. Examine the memory chips carefully; these can be the key to why the memory is set lower than normal (usually, look for special numbers for the memory cycle time, e.g. a "70" might indicate a cycle time of 7ns, which equates to a default frequency of 143 MHz).

I recently reformatted my computer's harddrive, and I've been working on getting everything back to it's normal working order. I'm having issues with my video card. It should be installed correctly, I haven't taken it out at all, and it worked a while before the reformat. I think I have the correct driver installed (This one).

But when I plug the monitor into the video card's plug, the monitor won't show anything, it's just blank with the little light, normally green, glowing orange. When I go to the System Information, the only video card that shows up is the one on the motherboard.

Am I using the correct driver? Any other possible solutions?

Answer:nVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 issues

G'day Redalert95, I gather you have onboard video and that is working but your card is not. It is not a good idea to plug video leads if the machine is running, it could quite easily kill something.
It is possible that you may need to disable the onboard video in BIOS to allow the daughter card to operate.
This makes it odd that it may have changed from previous settings which were apparently working OK.
If this might be correct it may be pertinent to replace the battery at this time before going any further.
Your board manual BIOS settings should help determine what is happening. In some machines if you plug in a video card the onboard is automatically disabled, but your note does not infer this to be the case, therefore it seems you are going to have to carefully follow the BIOS set instructons in the manual. You likely have an onboard enable somewhere. The LED showing orange instead of green simply indicates no information is being received by the monitor.
You should not need any driver to be loaded to give your card operation for the monitor to operate in a basic mode.
The proper driver will only give the thing all the colours and abilities you are used to normally seeing.
Be extremely careful and ensure the power lead is removed anytime you plug items like cards, and ensure your follow antistatic rules.
Cheers, qldit.

I have Dell Inspiron 5547 laptop (Touch Screen, 15 inches, 16 GB RAM and i7 4th Gen processor, Out of Warranty). Some days back, suddenly the display went dim and anything is hardly visible. After some initial investigation, the display chip (may be VGA or LED display chip) on the motherboard appears to be burnt out (may be due to voltage surge). Even the numbers printed on the chip is not readable because of which it is difficult for the local repairing shops to repair this problem.
I think Dell India Service Center doesn't deal with chip level repair and hence replacing motherboard is the only way they can fix this. This will be very costly (considering that the laptop is not under warranty so will have to pay for warranty extension, motherboard replacement and repair service) and time consuming.
Hence, to avoid all this I have come here to seek some assistance.
If there are anyone using the same laptop (Inspiron 5000 series 5547 Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM) then could you please take a clear picture of your laptop's motherboard or if you recognize the display chip then only that should be sufficient. In this case, I can read the chip related number from the image and try to repair it.
What are the charges for buying a warranty for the laptop, motherboard of my laptop and repairing charge?

Request your response and help.

Regards,
Rohit Kumar

Answer:Display Issue - Dim Display for Dell Inspiron 5000 (Model 5547) - Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM

You'll have to call Dell about the possibility of a warranty extension;  in the US, it's sometimes possible but will likely run over $300 -- or about what a board replacement would cost.
If you're getting video, the GPU is OK -- and it's more likely the power circuit to the backlight that's bad.  It'll likely cost as much to repair as to replace the board -- though you'll still be putting $300-400 into an out of warranty system, so replacing the system may be a better idea (if you do this, consider buying a 3-year warranty with the next system).

My Dell Insipron 6400 laptop will not support multiple monitors. I think I may not have a key driver installed. Help!!

I have attached two separate images, screen shot of my device manager and display properties and a screen shot of the same image on my mothers PC. (which is also a Dell Inspiron 6400)

On my PC, In my device manager I can not view the display adapters (there must be something installed and I do not have visiblilty?? correct??)

Also, on my display properties I do not even have the option for Multiple monitor support. (these are the same PC's)

I inserted my Drivers and Utilities CD from Dell, but I did not see any driver on there that was applicable to a display adapter.

Am I on the right track???

have you tried downloading the drivers on the NVidia website.
the beauty of NVidia cards are they only need "One Driver to Rule Them All" meaning the detonator drivers on the website are capable of supporting even the older Riva 128 to the Riva TNT to TNT2 up to the smooth power of GeForce 3! pretty cool and convenient huh? anyway here is the URL for the latest detonator drivers.

Hi,
I'm putting a new motherboard in my PC (Asrock p4v88) and in the instructions for the board is a note (do not use a 3.3v AGP on the AGP slot of this board). I hope to fit my old video card into the new mthbrd, it is a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 64 PRO. I haven't a clue what the voltage is of my video card. Can I fit this old card in or do I go out and purchase a new video card of a known voltage?

Thank you
Donald Ashton

Answer:Need The Voltage Of My Nvidia Riva Tnt2 64 Pro

I don't recommend using that card in that machine. Not only is there a risk of it damaging the slot, it's also an incredibly old and slow card, if your new motherboard has onboard video it is likely faster than that TNT2-M64.

My computer illiterate uncle's computer is acting odd. Well, at least the display properties is. Every time he tries to apply or even press ok, the display properties window freezes, no matter which tab he goes and what he changes. The computer itself does not freeze and every thing else is perfectly able to run without any harm when the display properties window is frozen. What I noticed (and he didn't) was that after a certain amount of minutes (around 3 or 5 minutes) the display properties becomes unfrozen and you are able to fully operate the window without any hassle.

When I end tasked the display properties, it said that Rundll32 has ended or whatever (the usual thing it says).

What I found odd is that when he would change his resolution, the background would practically cut in half. One part (usually the top) would stay the normal background picture and the other half of the picture would turn black.

I've never really encountered this problem before.

For extra info: he's using Windows XP.

Thanks.

Hello Experts,

I have purchased a Graphic card PALIT DAYTONA nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64.

I am going to install it in GIGABYTE P4 Titan GA-8IRX, REV: 2.0, DDR RAM, motherboard. This motherboard support only AGP 4x (1.5V) card due to Intel 845 chipset canít support AGP 2x(3.3V).

nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64 card has a jumper port JP1 which is open. Is it AGP 4x mode by default? Or I have to set jumper to make it AGP 4x.

Please suggest me how I install the card in the above-mentioned main board. I am waiting for your advice soonest possible.

i can't even bet a boot with a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64 w/8mb ram on a MainBoard TXpro-II or a knock-off replica thereof. funny thing is: the card workes fine in another comp with a diff mobo (this one, a spearfish with a xeon 450 pentium 2) and to add to insult, a couple of old junk video cards WILL work in the TX-proII. i also have an Aopen socket 7 mobo i could use for this system but the exact same story applies: the junk video cards work in it but not the tnt2 card which i just bought. by junk video cards i mean they have bad memory chips on them and they have garbage mixed in the on-screen display which makes them kind of useless except for getting a system to boot at all. if it matters they both have S3virge chips on them. running win98 fully updated with ie 5.5 also fully updated. have the latest nvidia drivers avail but of course haven't gotten that far. i did, however remove all the old drivers from device manager and found no nVidia references in the registry to delete at all. any clues would be highly appreciated. thanx, JL

I continue to get intermittent screen messages that I have a problem with my Nvidia graphics driver, occasionally causing shut downs and generating error messages to microsoft.
Although possibly completely unrelated, I also find that my computer shuts down on its own if left alone about 30 minutes, and when turned back on, goes through an odd reboot on its own whcih returns me to where I was before leaving.
The microsoft proposed solution is to download a new driver off the Nvidia website though they also say Nvidia has no solution to the problem. When I go to the Nvidia website, I can find a downloadable driver for XP. (www.nvidia.com/object/driver_installation_hints.html) , though the instructions request me to:
1- disable download accelerator utilities ( How do I find if I have any? I recall loading one at one time, but can't remember if it was on this computer, or find anything suggesting this on my start menu)
2-turn off my virus protection- can do
3- remove Nvidia display drivers from the control panel using the add/remove function.- I can't find any. However, I do find reference to them in my systems folder listing a TNT2 nmodel V 5.6.7.3 dated 4/7/04. It seems odd that I have a listing in the latter, but not in the former. It also seems odd that they would request the removal of the old one first. Will my monitor work if its removed??
Thanks for any assistance

If you are still using this old video card in your Windows XP desktop(like I am in one of mine), the NVIDIA ForceWare 61.77 and 66.93 drivers are the ones that you want to install and use. If you try to install and use the 71.84, 71.89, or newer versions, they will NOT install. I have done some experimenting and have confirmed this.

PIII 500Mhz, 192Mb Ram, 16Mb Riva Tnt 2 Pro Graphics, Asus P3v4x motherboard, creative vibra 128 sound card..

I have a problem with Direct draw. whenever i try to test direct draw thru dxdiag, my screen flickers a few times and the my computer hangs. I have now diabled direct draw acceleration. I have tried the latest Nvidia Detonator xp drivers (2.1.83) as well as the default drivers that came with xp. There is still no difference.

I could use direct draw and direct 3d with the same hardware setup on my previous system, Win ME. All the directx games ran fine there.

Please let me know what the problem is as this is the only glitch in an otherwise impeccable system..

Thanks,
Apurva Mehta

Right, so I have a Creative Model CT6980 Graphics Card otherwise known as a TNT2 nVIDIA RIVA M64/32MB, but I cannot find a good XP driver for it. There seem to be massive problems with TNT2 nVIDIA RIVA M64 driver such as making the system fail to recognise the card, a bit of a problem, and as I am working on someone elses system I am under orders not to destroy it. Therefore does anyone know of a low risk XP driver that would do for this card?

Answer:CT6980 or TNT2 nVidia Riva Driver Badly needed

Try this site: http://www.driverguide.com Requires registration w/ a valid email address but it's free and you get a certain number of free downloads a month... in the meantime, I'll do some more research. If you can't find anything at driverguide, I'll post a link here.... GOOD LUCK!!!! You should find what you need at driverguide.

The title says it all - Thanks!

I have a old pc with a 245W PSU and I m thinking about upgrading the card.

Answer:Anybody know the power requirements of a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 16mb graphics card?

Couldn't find a quick answer to this but if the "old" machine runs okay as it is then it should have no problem with the TNT2 card. They are a pretty old card and were designed for the machines of the day which (by today's standards) were pretty slow and didn't need a huge amount of power to get them going. I assume the "old" machine has a AGP slot to fit the card into?

I had to reinstall windows 7 on my acer aspire 5560g laptop, I installed the drivers on the Acer site. I found the legacy updates for my cards and installed them. And I am still having problems.

The monitor is not showing the native resolution of 1366 x 768, it's topping out at 1024 x 768, it's refusing to let me use the built in screen savers. It's supposed to be a duel graphics system and the device manager lists two under the display drivers. Both are listed as standard vga display. One with the little yellow exclamation mark. It's driving me nutty. Can someone help me?

On a side note, the slider for screen brightness has also gone missing, and the fn brightness control doesn't work either.

Answer:Display adapter now listed as standard vga display

You are missing the graphics drivers. To save you some time here I gave you a link:

In Vista when I select Control Panel> Adjust screen resolution I get the Display Setting Dialog box that allows me to select my monitors and then select the Resolution and/or if I want to make the monitor my main monitor/Extend the desktop onto this monitor and to Drag the icons to match the physical location of my monitors. All of this works fine... Except when I want to accept what I have done. I do this with the OK or the Apply buttons.

When either of these buttons are pressed the screen goes blank, there is a pause and one sees another screen that asks that you confirm these setting. For a time prior to a recent Microsoft Vista update, I had about 5 seconds to confirm my settings, but recently the time needed to complete this procedure has expanded and I now only get this screen for less than a second and I cannot press the necessary button fast enough to accept the new settings and the operation is defeated and the screen goes back to its original settings. Is there any way to extend this timeout or any other way to configure my multiple (three) monitors????

Thanks

Hi, I have a Geforce4 Ti4400 w/ WinXP Home and for some reason when I set my digital vibrance to meduim (under the nView tab) it won't remember it whenever I restart my computer. I even clicked on "Automatically apply at startup" box but it keeps on going back to the hardware default. The only time when it remembers is when I log off to another user and log back on. That works fine. Any ideas? All my drivers are up to date (29.42). Thanks.

Answer:Display options will not apply at startup

Now lately on start up Im getting

I try to correct this by changing the properties back to the proper settings.

That doesnt seems to work, its still there.
So
I use the "GoBack" feature and reboot and its now corrected.

Sometimes for days or weeks it stays corrected but this AM it started at

Is there a way I can save pictures in the desktop tab in "Display Properties"?

Answer:Display Properties

Are you talking about the Wallpaper (desktop background)?

If so, then yes, I believe there are two folders where you can place them:

C:\WINDOWS
and
My Documents\My Pictures

If you save it in the Windows folder then the pictures have to be saved in .bmp format

If you save it in the My Pictures folder then it can be saved as either .jpg or .bmp format

Hello,
I've recently had a hard drive crash, so I purchased a new one and did a fresh install of Windows XP SP2 home edition on a Fujitsu C2220 laptop w/ P4 2.40 GHz, ATI Radion IGP340M.

After installation, I went to change the display settings and right clicking on the desktop wouldn't produce any display properties. I went to the control panel and double clicked the display icon and it doesn't produce any results at all either. I get a hour glass for about a half a seconded and then nothing.

I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the video adapter and I've even removed the video card from the device manager and reinstalled drivers, but it hasn't helped.

I have checked all registry entries pertaining to the display and I've found no restrictions.

I have ran sfc /scannow (system file checker), and it did ask me for the windows cd and it replaced a few files that didn't help my problem.

Since I'm running a ATI video card, I can change the resolution with catalyst control center, but I'm stuck without the normal options of Themes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, Settings.

Any help would be appreciated!

Answer:No Display Properties At All

Try this registry edit (backup your registry before doing this!!!) Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htmScroll down to #285The first item in the right hand column will say "Restore All Display Tabs"Right click on it and select "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" Save it to and ensure it has the .reg extensionThen double click on it and answer Yes when it asks you for permission to merge it into your registry. Then see if it has worked. If not, then reboot the system to see if it'll work then. Here's a direct link to the page with the code:http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits...displaytabs.reg

Question: display properties

what should my settings be i am running windows xp they are set to 800/600 32 bit. is this ok or can i do better for loading the computer

Answer:display properties

It depends on how much stuff you want to see at a time and the resolution the monitor you have can support I'd recommend 1024X768 16/32 bit color.

If you wanted it faster change the 32 to 16 bit it will not be noticeable but it will probably run a very very small fraction of a second faster.

If your using an older monitor from about anywhere from '98 back to when VGA was first made then the current resolution is good for you.

Question: Display Properties

I have just noticed this today and have never had any problem with this before, nor have I ever heard of this happening before but, when I open my Display Properties and move to the Desktop tab and choose Browse to choose a picture to set as my background, after I have selected Open and the box closes, the Apply button is unavailable and the image I chose does not appear in my list or in the preview. I've also taken notice that certain images that were once in the list of available backgrounds images, such as Ascent, Autumn and Azul no longer appear to be available.

Right clicking on an image and choosing Set as desktop background does not work, and neither does choosing the same option from the Picture Tasks.

Does anybody have any idea what has happened and how I can restore whatever settings I may have changed without applying a system restore?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

This is probably a very stupid problem...

Basically, I tried to show my parents some photos on the TV through my laptop ( Toshiba Qosmio G10 - Win XP MCE 2005).

And it worked.

But the resolution was too fine, so I decided to tinker with the settings n both display properties and on the GeForce's own utility. (Graphics: Nvidia GeForce FX Go5700) Then the image on the TV just fanished after I pressed one setting or another. Is there anyway, to reset the properties on Display Properties or the Nvidia Utililty.

That way, (as a student) I can still continue to use my laptop for my presentations at uni.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Warren

Answer:Display Properties.

I don't think there is a restore default button for display properties through windows. If you go to NVidia propeties there may be one. Another option is to go into the hardware manager and uninstal the video card. Reboot and reinstall.

Answer:display properties

The desktop has to be untouched for 5 minutes more than only the monitor will turn off Means it will give no display but physically your monitor will be turned on. Depends on the settings of your monitor it will go to standby but won't turn off your monitor. In order to turn off your monitor you have to phsically switch off the monitor.

This function is to save the power only. When the screen is idle for a long time (5 minutes) it will go to standby.

Welcome to Major Geeks.

Please read this thread. The more information you give, helps us to better help you.

Have you run any anti-virus to rule that out?

Do you have all the lastest updates for your OS ( Operating System )?

Installed any new programs lately? I hate to suggest reformatting the Hard Drive, but that might be the case. From what I understand, it could be any number of things causing this. From a virus ( trojan or the like ), corrupt drivers or a bad install of some program.

I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will come along to help you, but please read that thread I posted & get back with us. Surely we can get this worked out.

Using a laptop and running on Windows XP.  Frequently, when booting up, the screen resolution is 1024 X 768 and display is distorted.  When I go to settings in display properties, I cannot increase the display to 1280 X 800.  Rebooting sometimes helps, but the next time I turn it on, the setting reverts to 1024 X 768.  How do I correct this?

Answer:Display Properties

have you installed all the drivers?

Question: Display Properties

I am running XP Home, SP2, all updates complete.

In display properties, I have themes set to Windows XP. Under Windows and Buttons I only have the Windows Classic style available. This changed only since latest Windows Update (yesterday). Tried to restore to earlier date, no results. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a dual monitor setup on my Windows XP. To replace a monitor, I moved everything to 1 monitor and checked it as the primary monitor and unchecked "extend my desktop" for both monitors. The second monitor went black - as expected.

I replaced the monitor and now want to switch back to my dual monitor mode. However, when I right-click>properties, the display properties are not displaying on my primary monitor.

How do I get them onto the viewing monitor if I can't see it?

Answer:Where's my Display Properties

If you give us the specs of your syst. video card and such. some one might be able to help you. I use a NVIDIA video card, I can go to the Control Panel, and Display Settings then, Advanced, then to my video card, and set it there but it will be different in different video cards.

Hi, a short while ago I had to replace my graphics card (6600GT), and ended up replacing it with an MSI HD 4670

my problem is now that the card is in and working if I right click on the desktop and choose properties the display options screen doesn't open. I can't get into it through Control Panel either. I thought it was maybe off screen if the desktop was extended, but it doesn't appear in task manager either.

There is a slight problem with drivers atm but not sure if it is connected: when I boot into XP I get a dialogue box saying "fail to load nvcpl.dll" as a result I have run driver sweeper in safe mode to remove nvidia display drivers, and reinstalled the ATI ones - no change.

I have tried uninstalling the ATI Catalyst software as I thought that may be getting in the road somehow but no change.

The most annoying thing is that I normally don't have a screensaver on as I don't leave my monitor on when I'm not using it, but had for a particular night set a screensaver to whatever the lowest time interval is, so now I can't change that...

if anyone has any suggestions I will be all ears.

edit: just noticed if I have no browser windows open, then for a split second I can see part of a window open when I try to get into display properties, then it vanishes.

Answer:Can't get into display properties

That appears to a driver install issue. That could be caused by a defect in the drive itself.
Have you tried going into the Device Manager and removing or disabling what you have, then rebooting and trying a new install... or going back to the previous driver on their website?

Looking at an elderly XP PC. Whe I right-click on the desktop and select 'properties', all that comes up is Display Properties with the option to change the theme. The usual tabs Apperarace, Settings Desktop etc are not there. Am I being dull (again?).

Answer:Display Properties - XP

I'd suspect some kind of display driver issue...

Question: display properties

Yesterday computer was fine. Today it has the display set at 4 bit and the lowest setting. I've tried rebooting, disconnecting the monitor, unplugging the power, changing the display to 32bit (which just resets itself to 4bit), running antivirus, doing troubleshooting etc. Nothing is working. It is still 4 bit. Any ideas?

Answer:display properties

Open device manager, I'm sure there should be one yellow warning sign next to your display adapter. You need to install your graphics drivers.
