High end PC Lag while Gaming

Question: High end PC Lag while Gaming

the following are the specs of my computer:
Asus P8Z77-V- LX2 Motherboard
Intel i7-2600CPU @ 3.4GHz
16GB RAM DDR3 668.5MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti

I lag on almost every single game, including League of Legends, Maple Story, DotA 2. Most of these does not lag on my low-mid end laptop and I find it very annoying why has it been lagging on my PC. I thought it was a faulty graphics card back then when I had the ATI 6970M graphics card then I upgraded to the GTX 780Ti and it still lags.

I notice miracle happens when I was using my 6970M graphics card, whenever I uninstall and re install the driver of the graphics card at the "Manage my computer" program, the lag disables and I am able to play all games with no lag. However, after restarting, the lag resumes and I must repeat the same step to remove the lag. However, with my GTX 780Ti, it does not work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm currently playing Dragon Nest and often it'd make my CPU almost 100% even while it's the only program running that's taking space and it results in my computer making making noise (not the cackling kind but it's the normal computer sound but louder)
My temperatures are only at 51~53

I'd experience random freezes in the game and sometimes it will freeze+crash, slowing down my entire computer.

Answer:High CPU while gaming

You have high CPU usage because you are playing a game. To reduce the CPU usage stop playing the game.

I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Hi guys,

I am having trouble with my self build gaming PC.
When playing games I have low fps, I have a feeling I lose a lot of performence somewhere and I don?t know where it is coming from or how to fix it.

For exemple CSGO: when I play 1920x1080 and settings all low, Gsync off. I only reach around 120/140 fps. This isn't even enough for my 144HZ monitor.

As far as I know I should be getting way more fps with my build.

I recently updated my bios, installed latest chipset driver, and I am using NVIDIA Geforce to keep my GPU updated. I also tweeked some settings on NVIDIA Control Panel but that is only giving me 20+ FPS.

Would be awesome if you guys could give me some tips to fix my problem.
If you need more information please ask me

My build:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Eight-Core Processor 3,6Ghz

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 12GB (driver version:

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 15063), 64-bit

Motherboard/Driver X370 / BIOS F6

I built my own rig recently and i am now worried my i5 4570 cannot handle maxed out settings,

at the moment i am currently playing a lot of Diablo 3 and when there is a lot of combat and action on the screen my fps can drop down from a steady 60 (vertical sync) to around 30-40

I know that Diablo 3 isnt a demanding game but still , the CPU is the only thing i can think of causing this,

My rig >
780Ti HOF 3 GB
i5 4570
8 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHZ
Windows 8

Everything updated with latest stable drivers
Temps >

GPU : Usually around 50 and never above 73.
CPU : Usually around 30 idle and 50-60 on load but never above 65.

Worth mentioning as well is that i had my Dxdiag and MSINFO investigated by EA Support and they found no faults (Not sure if its worth anything but thought i would mention it)

I am considering upgrading to an i7 but only if i am sure this is caused by my i5.

Thankful for any help

Answer:i5 4570 not enough for high end gaming?

The i5 is definitely not holding you back. There are very few games if any that utilize Hyper Threading which is the only real difference between the i5 and i7. I can't say for sure what is causing the frame drop, but I am positive it isn't the processor holding you back.

I have a similar rig with an i5 and 770 and I play diablo 3 on max settings without frame drop.

hi people.

i am buying a new pc soon and cant decide between these 2 pc`s, they are essentially the same except for the graphics card (and also the price)
the specs are:

AMD athlon dual core 245 processor (2x2.9 GHz)
4GB ddr2 RAM
500GB hard drive
5.1 surround sound...

but the difference is:
Radeon HD 4770 512MB graphics card
NVidia GeForce 7025

I want this pc to run games like warhammer 40k dawn of war 2 at full or near full graphics with no lag. if these arent good enough for that please say so so i dont end up wasting money.

thank you

Answer:what is better for high performnce gaming?

As much as I am a fan of Nvidia over ATI, of the 2 options you have given there, the Nvidia is an onboard gpu and as such will not deliver at anywhere near the level of the Radeon 4770. Either card would be sufficient for running Warhammer 40k, although it would be a close one for the onboard nvidia chip to be able to render full settings. The Radeon will do the trick without a problem.

Hi All,I'm looking to build a new Gaming Desktop after deciding against buying a laptop. I have built my own in the past although it was a long time ago. There are a few good deals for off the shelf out there but whenever i find one it just doesnt quite have what I want. Of course i might just be going overkill (see Below)Now the problem I have it that it's been so longsince i looked at these things that now there are so many differing products I pretty much do not know where to start. What I do know is that I want to Future proof myself for at couple of years at least. With that in mind im looking for a quad core 3ghx cpu and dual Nvidia GTX280 or eqivalent. 4gb ddr3 ram. I would also like a digital TV card, card reader, a good wireless card, and possibly a blu ray drive.Short of that... i do not know where to start.Any suggestions on a good build with parts that work together etc. I'm told there are tons of compatibility problem nowadays. ALL help will be greatly appreciated as this is basically an entire system from scratch... This means i will also need monitor etc Budget around £1500 to £2k Many ThanksRob

Answer:Is this a complete high-end gaming pc?

Just a few thoughts;

1 You have a K series processor however you selected a mb that does not support overclocking. The b85 chipset does not support overclocking SO either you are wasting money on a K processor OR you are going to be disappointed when you cannot overclock. Here is the intel spec sheet on the B85 chipset;

2 You have a WD blue drive. Go with the black series; a much better built drive AND a 5yr warranty

3 The stock intel cooler is pretty marginal for gaming. I would include a high performance cooler.

Answer:Building a new PC for high-res gaming

Looks like a good balance of components to me. Out of curiosity what power supply was you considering for the build?

For a single "SAPPHIRE HD 7970 3GB GDDR5", you will need at least a 550W PSU.

I reviewed the forum but could not find exactly what I was looking for. I am a computer user not a builder. I am considering a high end Mac
3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
32GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4X8GB
3TB Fusion Drive
This is like $3.3k USD. Will I get as much out of this as say a high end alien ware desktop? I am a geezer and prefer the Mac for the all in one design and aesthetics. I usually keep my Mac's for about 5 years then get a new one. Given I'm not price sensitive and my concerns, will I get as good a gaming experience on this as I would a high end gaming PC?

Answer:High-end Mac versus gaming PC

The higher resolution of the iMac will mean you definitely won't be able to max out all games. Also, there's not many games to start with - Steam is probably your best resource here.

I, along with anyone else here, cannot recommend an iMac for you, unless:
- You desperately need OSX.
- You need an All-in-one form factor for some unknown reason.

$3.3K is laughably-high, and more than enough to buy parts and pay someone to build it for you. For comparison, $800 parts (<$1000 including building fee) will demolish the above iMac in gaming.

Hi all,

I didnt really know where to ask this question, but since im lurking here for quite a while, i knew that the hive mind is strong with this one. So i hope someone can help me.

I play a lot online games. Downloading isnt that important for me. Perhaps streaming a movie from time to time but that was it about. No Torrents n stuff. Ive got a 20/2MBit Line which i ordered explicitly for online gaming. So i called my ISP to check out which profile they put me on. They told me that it is a VDSL2 download "interleave low" and upload "interleave high".

So my Question is:

What is better suited for online gaming, a upload with a "interleave low" or "high" profile?

Thanks everyone for helping in advance.

And of course my prayers are with Japan.

Answer:online gaming high latency?

Stop all programs that are using the Internet on both your computer and your network. If this does not help, you need to find a server closer to home or call your ISP.

I've been checking out a number of websites to find a new PC primarily for video editing and audio mixing/recording. I also want to get back into gaming as well. I found these two PC's supplied by Alienware and Mesh and was wondering which one would perform best, as a happy medium, for this purpose.

I understand that a 64-bit processor will make a difference once 64-bit programming becomes popular, but at this present time will it have much effect on the processing speed compared to a similar 32-bit processor?

Also, will the dual core AMD be able to use both cores simultaneously for one game?

Here are the two PCs:

Intel Pentium 4 Processor 650 w/ HT Technology 3.4GHz 2MB Cache
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6800 GT PCX 256MB DDR3
250 GB Western Digital Caviar SE Serial ATA 7,200 rpm w/ 8MB Cache

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core
2GB PC3200 DDR Memory 400MHz
2x 256MB nVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE - PCI Express - SLI configuration
300GB Serial ATA (150MB/s)

Is the Mesh PC going to perform just like a 2.1Ghz processor for general applications, or will it feel like having two of the processors?

Thanks for your help!

Hi so i play this game called Rust, It's an alpha game so it runs like **** for most people even with high end pc's. I turn the graphics down almost all the way and it will run fine for me besides the normal lag you get. I stopped playing for about a month and just started yesterday and i noticed that i'd get huge lag spikes and my fps will go from 70+ down to 5 or lower so the game is unplayable. I also noticed that it's using all of my memory which shouldn't be happening. 8bg ram is min for the game but i have friends with shittier computers than me with 8gb ram without experiencing the problem so if someone could help me troubleshoot this it'd help a lot.

Hi there. I'm a gamer, and as you know I need consistent and reliable internet. I play League of Legends currently.
The problem I'm having is that whenever someone else in the house browses the internet, downloads something, or especially when they watch Youtube or any other kind of videos, I get EXTREME unplayable lag. My ping can shoot up to and higher than 1000 ms!
I have my modem right beside me, and I am the only one connected to it VIA an Ethernet cable.

I was wondering if there's any way for me to limit the amount of bandwidth (if that's the correct term) that other devices in the house can receive, as to prevent other devices from stealing all of my internet strength. It almost seems like my desktop is the lowest priority for receiving signal strength, yet I am the only one connected to the modem VIA an Ethernet cable, everyone else is wireless.

I have access to the website that I can configure settings about my internet, devices and modem etc.

It looks like this (I scratched out the IPs and serial number of my modem):

Is there any way I can limit other devices strengths?

Answer:High Ping while gaming when others use internet

Is there something I can do with regards to QoS? I don't really know what it is or even if I have the option to use it.
Also, I live in Ontario, Canada and my ISP is Bell.

I have been looking to build a PC for about 2 months, First I was sure id want to build a full tower desktop but lately I have been interested in the idea of a mini PC,

I want to use it for gaming on ultra graphics ( BF4 and Elder scrolls online when it releases) and watching movies.

What Im most worried about is the temperatures, but ive read around and it seems it shouldn't really be an issue with a good case with proper fans and a good cooling GPU,

any recommendations on parts?

I have been looking on Thermaltake Armor A30 SECC case and im waiting for nvidias price cut in November kinda, else I will probably go with one of the new AMD cards,

Need a New rounter for gaming, It has to be high
Hi had and still have a Linksys SR41 wired router. It was very slow and always lost our connection(A very common problem) So I decided to purchase the Linksys NR041(Network Everywhere)

Now me and my brother my counter strike competitivly and a dying router is not the best thing to have when you are in a match.

So I get the Now router the NR041 and it wont let us play in the same server at the same time. It will only address 1 port to 1 Pc at each certain time. So we tried to flash it and We killed it we cant even ping it, so we will return it at defective.

My question si there any real 10/100mbit router that is fast and will alow us to play the games at the same time and play xbox live, The xbox live is not that important becouse they said the Nr041 wouldent work and it did.

So I just need a very good working router. The NR041 was so much faster than the Sr41. I went from seeing 700kbs from the Optimum online test ftp to 1.7 mbs. So it was a very good purchase just that it doesnt alow us to play the games we need to play

So please help
Everything is Wired no wireless

Answer:Need a New Router for gaming, Must be high performance

Um, most 10/100 routers are pretty much all the same with exception to people's brand preference. For longevity, you might want an SMC7004VBR CABLE/DSL, or 3Com/USR-8003, or a DI-604P or 704P. I have used all of them for residential clients, and are still working with no complaints except the occasional broadband outage.

I use a D-Link DI-614+ which has wired 4 port lan / 1 port wan and 802.11b wireless capability. I suggest you turn off the wireless feature if you choose to use it. Worked fine for me till I got the cash to begin setting up my cisco lab.

Hope that helps.

Okay, where to begin.

I have been working on this issue for around 2 months now, both on my own and with the help of the local computer store, though they are more familiar with standard home office computers than gaming rigs.

Problem started when i found out my WD 3tb hdd was starting to fail, so a friend if mine bought and dispatched a new toshiba 4tb drive as a favour (completely skint). The hdd arrived, so i went about replacing old with new and reinstalling windows. Now im a pretty average pc user, and reinstalling windows is something i have done often, but iv never swapped out a hdd. Anyway, upon rebooting, the pc would freeze at the starting windows screen, just before the coloured bubbles form the window.
Knowing that it may just have been a bad install, i repeated my steps, and no dice, trouble continued. So i went back to my old hdd, reinstalled windows and low and behold, same problem.

Took to the local pc store and they had it for a whole week testing and tes... Read more

It has been a year since I bought the Lenovo Y50-70. It originally came with a Qualcomm Atheros AR956X wifi card but the internet performance and network stability of the card was very poor. I had the lenovo tech support replace the wifi card on my system. They provided me with a Realtek RTL8723BE wifi card. Although it is similarly specd as the previous card, the signals (as shown by Windows 10) are relatively higher. Coming to the actual problem now, upon extended usage I have figured that the wifi card, whichever it may be, suffers from massive loss in data stream  units and has a very high latency when the system is running hot. This maybe due to the fact that the wifi card is placed very close to the heatsinks of the cpu/gpu. This results into a very crappy online gaming experience. The only resolve that I have come across is to use and external wifi card or use the ethernet cable if possible. But this had to Lenovo's job to search the machine for such design flaws before selling them. So very disappointing Lenovo.

Ever since I retired my huge CRT monitor, I have been very unsatisfied with the performance of my 75Hz maximum LED monitor. Don't get me wrong, it's great for movies and everyday use, but for gaming it has done nothing but leave me yearning for something with a higher refresh rate.

I see that there are 120Hz 3D 'gaming' LEDs and have been poking around these waters. I have heard from sources that Benq used to make one of the best 120Hz monitors, but has since been discontinued. So have others, as I see them as 'unavailable' on NewEgg or insanely high priced elsewhere. Are these 120hz 3D monitors a bad idea to purchase? Are there any other options? I can't stand 75Hz in-game any longer!

Answer:High Refresh Rate LCD/LED Monitors For Gaming

One thing I know for certain is that you'll need a graphics card capable of pushing 120FPS as well or you'll suffer tearing @ 120hz. Then there's Vsync too. Personally I think the whole 3d stuff is gimmicky but the 120HZ is good for day to day use ... just that you'll need good dual GPU setup or very high end cards ... waste IMO.

Hi, I'm new to Lenovo laptops and new to Amd processors so need a bit of help/advice regarding my G505s with 2.5ghz A10 Apu and 5750 Gpu.I have had this laptop about a month now and overall I'm impressed with it including its ability to play a lot of demanding games such as Battlefield 3 and even Dayz! Although the laptop runs these games on decent settings and maintaining good frame rates, it has one down side, it gets hot! After about 20-25 minutes playing battlefield 3 on high settings the laptop gets to hot and restarts without any notice. If I turn the game settings down to medium then it is possible to play a bit longer before the laptop restarts itself. The only way I've managed to play without the laptop restarting is by going into processor power options and changing it from 100% to 99% maximum processor state. This means the Apu clock speed is reduced and it doesn't go into turbo mode. However by doing this I am losing processing power (max clock speed reduces to around 2100mhz) and the laptop still gets very hot.Using various temp programmes I am getting Apu temps of around 90-94 degrees Celsius and the 2 gpu's are around 85-90 degrees Celsius. To me the fan doesn't seem powerful at all on my laptop and even when the laptop is really hot you can hardly feel any hot air being blown out of the vent. I have a problem with my Ideapad u410.When i try to play a game online i always end up with high ping. But when i play the same games with my other laptop, I have a decent ping. This problem only occurs when i play wireless. Can someone please help me?

Answer:High Latency only when gaming online wireless

Hello torenedo,
This seems to be an ongiong issue. I believe I have seen a similar post regarding the U series Wireless card. Try using it while the wireless card cover is removed. If it gives you a better connection and a lower ping afterwards, the issue is the cover blocking part of it's signal. Hope that helps.

Tonight I played a couple rounds of MOH on my home network with my younger brother. As I am used to getting a ping of 1-10 I am now getting a ping of 40-50 which I dont think is normal. I turned off zone alarm on both computers. The last time we played I had the same router but since I have ugraded my wireless card from b to g. Is there any reason for the high ping I'm getting?

Long story short I have an e4200 router that I was very excited with at first but now it seems the times have caught up to me. Our internet provider didn't like the new modem I introduced and I ended up having to register it with them to get our internet back. Ever since then it's not been smooth sailing; had to reset to factory settings and upgraded the firmware of the router to get over constant dropouts and slow speeds.

In the process I noticed that even slow-speed torrenting (under 20kb/s) KILLS in-game ping with BFBC2. I realize torrenting while gaming is not a good idea, but is there any way to set this up so that the two can exist in harmony without destroying the in-game ping?

If I setup QoS I have to give it a range of ports which doesn't jive well with randomize ports -- if you know what I mean

Answer:Slow Torrenting + Gaming = High Ping

You get one or the other, you can't have both.

So you either game with good ping, torrent quickly, or game and torrent at the same time but stick wtih the same port set.

Also realize that the way that RIAA / MPAA track torrents, and the way your ISP throttles your bandwith when you have excessive P2P traffic has nothing to do with what port number your torrent client is on. All randomizing your port number does is get around possible blocked ports by a corporate / school / ISP firewall so you can download.

So, i just recently repplied the thermal paste for my nitro, the only changes that i had noticed is there is no THERMAL THROTTLING during gaming sessions but still i get high temperatures 70-96 degrees celsius depends on the game i am playing and the settings for the aforementioned. Is this normal? Anyhow i was not the one who applied the thermal compounds i had gone to an authorized acer service center for the aforementioned. Shall i tinker with the said fans and use intel xtu for undervolting? i have also a cooling pad which is perfectly angled to the intake for my laptop. The said temperatures only happens when i switch from balanced ( underclocked no turbo boost ) to high performance ( with turbo boost ) Is this normal? Should i be alarmed? And even thou i get high temperatures, i have no thermal throttling issues. But when i use the battery there i can observe the said thermal throttling, i used intel xtu for the said observation. but when i plug in the chord the thermal throttling seems to disappear.

rather my question is should i be alarmed?

hi again. when i am gaming i noticed via task manager i have a few things running in background that are constant cpu drain and wondering how to kill these for good and to know what they are? as they are using so much cpu. NVSTREAMSVC.EXE and MSMPENG.EXE are using more than xplane which is a beast of a sim to run so the more free cpu the better. any help would be appreciated thanks.

Answer:high cpu usage when gaming due to other programs!! need to kill them:)

I think the first is Microsoft malware scanning.
Here's some info on the second one:

I'd imagine they can be turned off in your services, but I don't know the consequences of that.

well just to let you know right now. Prob wont find a card that will run BF2 on high res with no video issues for under 100, the market isnt a charity, you pay for what you get, all within a 2 month period of course, until prices change. this might do you okay, some others might recommend a 7600 gt or something. I am far from a hardware geek and truth be told, I'm only an entry level software geek for that matter. That being said, last year I built a computer mainly for gaming using a Asus P5E motherboard, Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66Ghz), and a Asus EN8800GT graphics card.

For the most part it works well enough when I'm gaming, but I feel that temperature has been a limiting factor using the stock fans & heat sink, plus the built in over-clocking utilities offered by the P5E using the Asus AI Suite software. Lately I have been getting more and more curious about it and often find that my CPU temperature is running around 82 degrees! Like I said, I don't know hardware very well, but I don't think that that's an OK temperature.

I have glanced at this extensive review of different heatsinks and have thought about buying one but wanted to get some second opinions; would it be overkill to put something like the ThermalRight IFX-14 into my box to get the desired improvements or considering the relatively budget box? I will admit that that costs a bit more than I'm keen on paying -- or is that temperature simply something I don't need to worry about? What do you think would be the best (and relatively cheapest) way to make my box run at a bit more optimal of a temperature while gaming?

I've had this computer for about a year now, and for the past month or so it has been overheating and shutting off. It is well ventilated, and I even opened the case and pointed a fan right at it. I have Speedfan and CPUID and my Gpu temp is about 70 Celsius idle, and 85-90c when running a game. I'm not sure what specs to post so here's everything I can find:

Its a Gateway (crappy, I know but its what I have)
Intel core quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.34GHz
8.00 GB ram
Windows Vista 64 bit edition
Its a Nvidia Geforce GT 120 (which is apparently the same as Geforce 9500 GT)

What I've done so far:
-Updated every driver that I could
-Took apart the computer and cleaned out everything with compressed air and a q-tip including the baby fan that's attached to the video card
-I ordered some thermal paste and will put that on when it gets here
-Made sure it has max ventilation
-Turned on the computer with it open to make sure that the fans were running, which they were.

My power supply says the output is 385W max, idk if this is good or bad or what. Sorry for my ignorance about all things hardware.
Also, my processor temps are fine, they are all in the mid 40s, if that helps at all.

I know this is kind of complicated but any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Answer:GPU temp very high even when idling, 70c idle and up to 95c while gaming?

processer may need re seating but you can do that when you redo thermal paste, make sure you take all old paste off and buy a good one, whats room temp? this can effect it dramatically, check bios settings for fan speed and processor temp as much more acurate from bios, possible bios has re set and you are not using best options your motherboard has for controlling fan speed ( usually press delete button on start up to access bios) re psu, its very very weak for what you are running you should really have one double that capacity, 600w minimum at @80% effeciency but not cheap for sure, personnaly i would remove 4gb of the ram untill i had it sorted also

Hi, firstly i should mention i am new to Pc's so dont know a lot but will provide as much info as i can. I have just bought a gaming PC with the following specs;
AMD 6600k quad core processor (3.9Ghz)
AMD HD8570D graphics
16GB RAM (1600Mhz)
1TB Hard drive
The problem i have is the PC seems to play games very slowly (about 20FPS) on medium and high settings. The games i have used so far are Arma 2 (with all the expansions including DayZ), Euro truck simulator 2, War thunder and 7 days to die. I was given the latest drivers with the PC and even downloaded them off the AMD website to make sure it was up to date. I have also tried altering settings in the AMD catalyst control center and in game but still no luck. I should also mention i went into the BIOS and the screen was very glitchy and became even worse with each option i clicked, until it froze. i hope someone has some ideas what could be wrong and could help me out, thanks!

Since you already ordered the parts, it does little good now to ask if they are going to work well together.

Your parts selection is low to mid range at best. The mb is not a performance board. Gigabyte makes
fine boards however this is one of their mid-level ie NOT performance boards.
Hard drive. Again WD makes fine drives however NOT the blue series. Only the black series [or preferably a ssd] for a gaming system.
Pw supply. Again corsair makes some fine pw supplies however the one you selected is NOT one of them. For a gaming system only the HX, TX, or AX line.
In short the parts you have selected are fine for an office system ie running office, email, etc. They are NOT fine for a gaming machine and you most likely will be disappointed in their performance or longevity.

Recently, I have had my system power down during operation of games. It doesn't happen at any chronological point of the games (3 different ones in all) and they are from different developers. They are all new and have above average system requirements. The power down has no warning and no error messages even on startup. No recovery is nescessary upon reboot. Because of these circumstances, I believe it has to do with voltage or temperature of CPU/GPU's. I have run Speedfan but as a new user I know very little of it's functions other than basic monitoring. Which it seems my GPU is always running hot (124F). Here is my System Config and Speedfan settings while using desktop only.

HP Pavillion model:a6432f

GPU: 124F Temp3: 55F
Temp1: 109-111F Core: 84F

What are you going to use the PC for? Multi-tasking,Gaming

How much is your budget? 2000$

Where are you located? (a.k.a. fill out your profile) Canada

Are you willing to buy online? Yes, ncix preferably

Are you going to re-use any parts from an earlier build? No

Do you need other peripherals like a monitor, keyboard and mouse, among others? No

Have you already bought any parts? No

Do you have an Operating System (OS)? No

Will you need any aftermarket cooling, such as a CPU\GPU cooler or a watercooling setup?

I'm planning on OC'ing the cpu so cpu cooler.

I'm new to this but i would follow tutorials online and build it myself. Just need a solid and compatible config for 2000$.

I will need a ssd and a gpu card that supports dual monitors.

I recently bought a PC from ebay, it was sold as having an issue booting. Apparently a problem with the water cooling.
Its possible to boot the PC apparently, although I have not managed this. I have very vague instructions from the seller, I will paste these into top comment below, as you'll see the explanation is not the best. He tells me its a problem with the water cooling which is stopping it from booting.
Link to the auction in case anyone is interested and to see full specs
click here the best order to remove and take apart the components in order to not risk destroying the PC or leaking fluid anywhere?
Im thinking remove block from the CPU, then take the radiator out and finally lift out the reservoir which is attached to the bottom of the case with a Velcro tab only.
Should I be draining the coolant before removing this???
This is the water cooling kit: click here
This is the case its installed in:

Youtube vid of the boot problem I have. click here
As you can see when I press the on button, the PC is constantly trying to switch on immediately turns itself off again. This loops constantly, so you can see the fans starting and stopping. This makes me believe the computer is not starting as the CPU is protecting itself as its not being cooled, or cannot detect the cooling. So I believe the explanation its the water cooling rather than a PSU or motherboard issue.

Hello everyone,

I am using an L500 laptop with the following:

Windows Vista 64 bit SP2
Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 @2.1 GHz
Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series.

I have been monitoring my GPU's temperature while running a new game with the GPU-Z utility.

As soon as I start the game the temperature raises from 65-70 C to 90-100+ C within 10 miutes. There seems to be a connection between temp and performance, so when my temp raises the game's fps drops significantly. As soon as I alt tab the temp drops back to normal levels within a couple of minutes.

My question is wheather this high temp is ok or does it indicate some kind of cooling problem? If I clean my laptop should I expect a noticable difference (have never cleaned - been using it for 18 months)? I've read somewhere that upgrading my BIOS from v1.4 could possibly help, is it true and does it worth the risk?

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you very much

Answer:Satellite L500 - High GPU temperature while gaming

Hi Mirari,

>If I clean my laptop should I expect a noticable difference (have never cleaned - been using it for 18 months)?
Ohhh yesss, you will you notice a big difference if you already use it for 18 months now and never clean it before. Normally the notebook should be cleaned every 3-4 months and after this time and cleaning you will notice a difference that notebook will run much cooler again but I must say I use my notebook every day.

It?s not difficult to clean the cooling system because you don?t have to disassemble the notebook. Everything what you need is compressed air spray to blow out the dust from cooling ventilators as described here:
[How to clean the cooling system of a Toshiba notebook? |]

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Retail installed in my main 80GB Intel SSD roughly 2 years ago.

All the hardware (image below) is fairly new except the hard drives which I am unsure of and have been reusing from build to build. I have 2 pairs of G.Skill RAM in different sizes, but same specs (2x2GB & 2x4GB). Crashes have been starting after installation of the 2X4GB RAM although I have been doing other tweaks to the computer from then on. Some registry stuff might have been accidentally deleted as well.

My main problem is the blue screen crashes.

So far, I've addressed my Realtek PCI-E reader's driver update as there was a problem relating to it and some video encoder.

My Windows Media Player also freezes after watching ~10-20 minutes of a video and then switching over to another. I think I read somewhere this had to do with video codecs (CCCP) installed on my computer, but if someone thinks I'm incorrect please help me with a fix.

Last year I built my very first PC and it was just magnificent until recently. I'm not sure what exactly is causing this issue, but as of late every game I seem to try playing the framerates go berserk. Normally they used to stay at 80 or so, but now they've been incredibly faulty. I discovered this when I started playing Smite, but I repaired that program in hopes that maybe it was that causing the issue but no such luck. I also updated my AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series but to no avail the strange frequent drops keep happening. I dusted out my computer the best I could, ran a harddrive stress test on my D drive and it came out fine. I can't seem to scan my C drive (Samsung SSD 840 Series) even though I can look through the drive's files just fine. I still have plenty of RAM, and the usage is only 20%, I believe my fan is also running at 20%.

Most of my games are installed on D, and all games (Even on C) seem to have this stutter problem. All of them used to run at 80 but now they seem to drop from 70 to 29 at most. I can supply more info about my computer, probably going to try dusting it off again. Everything else (videos, music, internet.) run fine, the one thing that does concern me though is League of Legends, which seems to suffer less issues but the framerate apparently goes up and down but visually it looks fine without stutter.

Answer:High end gaming computer and random framerate issues.

LoL is highly optimized for an extremely wied range of hardware, so that's probably why you aren't seeing any problems.

Those FPS issues can be a wide range of issues so for starters I'll say this. HDD/SSD doesn't affect FPS and if you run any kind of HDD program on an SSD you can kill it or damage it reducing its performance and life. Defrag, stress, ect. Don't do it.

Next, let's get your full system specs.

Finally, get some monitoring programs and let's check the temps of both your CPU and GPU.
MSI Afterburner

Use Coretemp to monitor the CPU, and MSI Afterburner to monitor the GPU. All you need to concern yourself is with the load temps. You can run a benchmark or preferrably any game in question to load these up and check the load temps.

Before I had purchased a new router, due to it losing internet every 2-4 hours, I had a stable ping of about 30, and when streaming, it would be 50~. I have recently bought a Netgear "Nighthawk" AC1900, and ever since my ping has been on an unstable 60-80, and while streaming has been 120+. My download speed is usually 100+ mbps and my upload speed is around 8 mbps. I have read that my ISP (Suddenlink) might be the problem, but I am just dumbfounded. Any help is much appreciated.

Trace Route:
The trace route IP is from a game of CSGO

I tried contacting NetGear Support, but the poor lady didn't know what she was doing, and kept me running in circles over and over again. The only thing she suggested was to take it back and get a new one.

I've tried Reddit, which only made other people dumbfounded about my situation, and just stated that on my Trace route, node 9 looks weird.

I've tried so many different sites, and none have given me the definitive answer I am so desperately needing.

If this doesn't work, I'll contact my ISP and see what's going on over there.

Hey, I am at the stage we all go through many times in our lives. Trying to decide what computer to get while your computer you have is slowly dying. I'm looking for hints on what computer might be the best for my needs as a gamer.

The main specifications i would like:

Atleaste 8gb Ram
64bit CPU
Good graphics card
Good processor
Pre-installed with Windows 7 (Home Premium is fine)
Pretty much able to handle HD games without me setting all the graphics setting and performance settings to "Ultra Low" - "Ultra High" would be nice!
Something that doesn't overheats itself while using these settings (Don't want to keep checking the heat meters anxiously )
Room for upgrades, easily accessible inside.

Not every detail is needed really but that would be a dream computer. Thank-you for your help.

If you like DIY (like me), read up reviews of hardware which you want, go to the hardware market, buy the 'dream hardware', go home, and assemble.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Hey, I was looking into making/buying a new pc that can run all the new stuff pretty well, and something that will last me the next 3 years for gaming, then through college for around $1600. Is it cheaper to build my own computer, or buy one from a manufacturer? I've been doing a lot of shopping but there’s so many acronyms and different stuff and it drives me crazy! I don't have any experience building computers, but I've heard it isn’t that hard, I've been attempting to educate myself about it.

If, which i probably will, I build my own computer, what's the best place to shop for parts? I've been looking at; I'm wondering if there's somewhere better.

Please post your advice, rig setups etc, and thanks for your help, i appreciate it!

Ok so to preface, running XP x64 on a q6600 processor, 4gb DDR2-800 DAM, 8800 GT 512mb video card, 650 watt Ultra X-Finity Power Supply, Seagate 7200.11 250GB HDD.

So when my computer boots, it gets to the desktop with my start menu that I can access, my Stardock is loaded, but then it takes about 1-2 minutes sometimes to let me use explorer or Pidgin or other programs, then all of a sudden stuff catches up and it's all good. Any way to troubleshoot this?

I ran a full NOD32 scan, and a full SuperAntiSpyware scan. Ran HDD and Memory tests when this started happening, nothing.

Answer:High end gaming PC takes a LONG time to boot

My guess is you have a ton of crapware in the run folder in the registry. How much stuff is in your system tray?

start > run > regedit

Take a screenshot and post it, so we can see how much junk is being loaded at startup.

I recently got a Qosmio x770 (-124) with i5-2430 and with a regular non-3D-screen.

The laptop works almost perfectly in every aspect but one. It is not the specs (the framerate is still solid etc.) but heat that stops me from playing games at higher settings.

With modest settings at for example Lego Harry Potter chapter 1-4 (which is not that demanding) it can get to about 75 degrees celsius (almost 80) which I do not believe is that good for the CPU. Yet the fans remain very quiet. I know the fans work since they will kick in sometimes after long periods of use and I know that the computer is not that dirty.

What I want to do is the following:

1. Manually assign the fans to kick in more often and at lower temperatures.

I know some laptop companies have assigned software for this purpose and I know that it can be changed on some computers in bios mode but I can't find such an option in my x770 bios mode (updated with the latest available bios firmware on the swedish Toshiba site).

Is there such a software?

Thankful for any answers!

Answer:Qosmio x770 - CPU temperature is high will gaming but the fan is quiet?

> With modest settings at for example Lego Harry Potter chapter 1-4 (which is not that demanding) it can get to about 75 degrees celsius (almost 80) which I do not believe is that good for the CPU

Don?t be worried because of the 70-80?C temperature.
The 70C is nothing unusual for gaming notebooks and the temperature would always increase to a higher level while gaming.

> 1. Manually assign the fans to kick in more often and at lower temperatures.
This is not possible? the fans are controlled by BIOS? the fan table is stored in BIOS and this contains the info when and how fast the fans needs to run to cool down the CPU.

What you can do is to set the cooling settings in Win 7 power management to ?performance?.

By the way: here details from Intel

the T-junction temperature of this CPU is 100?C? so 70?C or 80?C is high but not too high for gaming.

Hey guys! I'm pretty knowledgeable with PC's as it is, and I keep up with the tech all the time as its kinda my passion. There is of course many intricate details that I do not know however so would like a few pointers with this.. My info in relation to Server type processors is a bit more limited sadly.

So.. Me and my friends are working on a gaming house with a studio and it will all be Live streamed. Now we will have 16 IP camera's on at all time and be in use and these are VERY good cam's. Mostly we're trying to do this due to heat, space, ease, and electricity really. We haven't even 100% confirmed if running many camera's on one PC to different streams is viable just yet.

So, we're in the midst of trying to figure out how to work the cam's into as FEW PC's as possible basically. So we're trying to figure out a build that will work with all of them preferably.

So a few idea's we've had was if 2 Xeon Processor/MB vs 2 Opteron?/MB board would be able to handle that many cams and streams? Also, I haven't dug too far into GPU utilization for streaming, so any info on how much the streaming is taken by the GPU as well as the CPU would be awesome! We could even do multi-PC but again, as few as possible.

I'm not sure if the extra cores and threads from some of the high end AMD's would surpass the Xeon's in this case or not.. Hopefully this makes sense to a few people and we can get... Read more

Hello, about 4 weeks ago we started experiencing Packet Loss and High Pings while playing games. This affects our 2 PC's and our PlayStation 3 (Since we use them for gaming). We have contacted our ISP several times regarding the issue but each representative we have talked to has had different ideas of what the problem is. They replaced the modem twice which did nothing, so I then purchased 2 new Router's (DIR 601 N150 & DIR 835 N750+). Neither of them solved the issue. my ISP also says it isn't the Internet Cable that is causing the issue. My Download Speeds and Upload Speeds are right where they should be but the ping and the packet loss is the problem. I also contacted DLINK (Router Manufacturer) to see if they had any ideas and all we did was upgrade the firmware version and change the Wireless channels which also did nothing. I have plugged this PC into the modem with an Ethernet Cord and played games and all the issues were gone which leads me to believe that Modem and the ISP aren't the issue.

Things I've Tried:
-Resetting the Modem
-Testing each Wireless Channel on my Router
-Enabling and Disabling 802.11n and 802.11g on the router
-Changing the QoS settings
-Installing Software such as Gamebooster and Advanced System Care
-Disabling all Antivirus programs and Firewalls on the PC's
-Using a friends Modem instead of the Cogeco one (no help)
-Turning all game settings to low
-Updating driver software for the Network Adapter (which is ... Read more

I have run Avast anti virus and spyware. It found some viruses and spyware. I have run Adaware and it found some more things. I have run Spybot and it found some things. I'm planning on buying a powerful PC for triple monitor gaming. I want to play at high framerates on max settings (driving sims mostly, Project CARS, Assetto Corsa). I've been planning on using two GTX 780s in SLI.
However, for a variety of reasons, I want to keep the 46" plasma TV I have and add two screens on either side (those screens would be best at 27" in portrait - an almost perfect fit, in fact). With the peripheral monitors in portrait, I guess that's a 4080 x 1080 resolution across the three monitors (1080 + 1920 + 1080 = 4080). The peripheral monitors could go in landscape but that's not ideal.
So I'm hoping to use mismatched monitors. I've understood that you can use mismatched monitors with GPUs in SLI, but they have to have the same resolution, refresh rate, and sync polarity. I'm thinking this won't be possible for me as it's pretty much impossible to get info on what sync polarity a monitor has. And the plasma is reportedly 600hz - that'll be hard to match too.
How can I get around the same-resolution, refresh-rate, sync-polarity problem when using GPUs in SLI? Has anyone got an idea?
Any help will be much appreciated.

How about using a GTX Titan Black instead of the two GTX 780s in SLI?

My PC has Windows 7, 8gb ram, an intel i5 4670 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 graphics card, corsair 650w PSU, and 256mb solid state drive as well as some other western digital hard drives. It's around 3 years old at this point.

Recently I swapped my old 19" 4:3 monitor for a bigger screen with a 1920x1080 resolution. Since then it's been suffering from intermittent slowness and distorted sound. For example, when playing a game (Archeage, an MMO, 2 year old game so not hugely cutting edge) and trying to play music at the same time from youtube, with several browser tabs open, the game's FPS drops and the sound will become distorted and slurred. I turned down the game's graphics settings from 'very high' to 'normal' which fixed it for a while, but overall it's progressively gotten harder and harder to avoid my PC sounding slurred and distorted and going slow during gaming. I used to be able to reasonably smoothly run two instances of this game at once to multibox, and now I can't even reliably run one without this problem if I do anything else but play the game.

At first I thought it was overheating, because GPU and processor both typically were maxing in the low 80s (Celsius). I cleaned out a lot of dust from my CPU and GPU fans but now I'm finding that I still get distortion and slowness even though the temperatures are 10+C better. I even got distortion when both were at 50C.

Moreover, I notice this sound distortion happens when task manager shows the CPU usage... Read more

Hey guys, I'm not a computer smart guy, so please deal with me on this. A friend of mine recently built me a pc, basically I picked out all the parts he recommended, and he put it together. Anyway, since its been built, back around end of September, it has been getting a blue screen of death while gaming, mostly on Team Fortress 2, as well as while watching youtube vids, specifically high quality ones. The bsod will not happen if your not gaming or watching high quality vids. You can browse the internet without a problem, comp will run flawlessly, its only during games, and quality vids it will blue screen.

I've been told the bsod error "124" is a hardware error, so I've tried replacing different parts in an attempt to fix the problem. I've replaced the graphics card, I've replaced the mother board, I've replaced the memory, and I've replaced the power supply 590w+. Still I get the same bsod, nothing has worked. I've updated bios for the motherboard, as well as updated the graphics card. I've ran memtest, and memory has passed, I've also ran DFT and hard drive passed. I hear if it was a hard drive problem, it would get worse over time, it hasn't gotten worse or better, it stood the same.

Theres also something I noticed with team fortress 2 Vs. Starcraft 2. The bsod will happen a lot more frequently during Team Fortress 2, than it will during Sc2. Can't figure that one out either.

As far as my OS, I am using Windows 7 Pro 64bit, if that helps any. I will als... Read more

As title states; I'm currently having BSOD: IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL.

However; it's restricted it only Balance / High Performance & while playing MMORPG's (Like MapleStory, Luna Online, Gaia Online.etc) and never occurs in power saving mode (although the game would be slightly slower naturally).

I have downloaded DM Log Collector, but I've noticed 3 things happening:
All mini dumps have Access denied message (except the last one). - I've changed security on this
When the message appears saying the logs have been saved to my desktop ready for upload; there is no ZIP files on desktop.
All files except startup.txt disapear from sfdebugFiles folder disappear when press any key to continue after all info has been gathered.
I've manually copied the files before press any key to continue removing all the other files.

This is the best I can do for now.

Hi guys. I've recently just bought a Lenovo Y410P. Really eager and pleased. However, didn't really had an awesome experience when I was gaming. The game I'm playing is Dota 2.Experienced high latency spikes on and off throughout the game, especially when i'm in clashes  Eg: doing a ping test on the command prompt gives and avg between 5~20ms pings. Occasional spikes will occur going up to as high as 1/2k pings. Have tried contacting my ISP a few times and the router has been changed around 2-3 times. Quite sure that the problem lies only with my computer as my sibling doesn't face the same issue on their laptops. From time to time, even web surfing may cause spikes such as Facebook or Twitter (Rarely) Have since switched to using a CAT 6 eth wired to playing games but isn't really convenientPings are stable when using wired but just getting request times out 1-2 times on and off. Other than that, its alright Appreciate any kind suggestions/help.

For the past year I have been making an effort to continue to use my computer with my constant freezing browser and the freezes as well but enough is enough I am looking to fix it. My Firefox browser freezes at random times and my computer is a shadow of itself in terms of the speed that it had last year. Online gaming has been bit of a problem as well. My latency/ping would be spiking from 150-800 every 2 secs. It's unfortunate because online gaming was never an issue for me before this year. My latency would stay at a stable 40-80, with no hickups of any kind. Honestly it is not my router or my internet. While browsing my connection would never slowdown or disconnect at any time so it isn't to be blamed for it.

Below, I have my DDS log. I tried using GMER Rootkit Scanner as well with no prevail. 2 times my computer would go BSOD even with the adjustments that were recommended in case my computer wasn't able to scan with the regular settings.

My wifes Win7 PC became sluggish with 100% cpu utilization, high disk activity, and high network activity (20% or so on 100Mbit LAN). Based on another post I ran the eset poweliks cleaner and it reported that it was found. The log it generated is attached (zipped to reduce size)
It still has the same problems. If I disconnect the LAN it becomes responsive. I have left the LAN disconnected. The Mcafee scan does not find anything. Malwarebytes Antimalware did not find anything.
I ran dds, the output files are attached.

Hi, I just got a thinkpad edge e420 and I have noticed a high frequency/high pitch noise as well as a whirring sort of noise (sometimes, might just be hard drive tho). It is quite soft and I can only really hear it when I am in my bed at night with the laptop. It can get quite annoying. I have heard of similar problems like this when I did a search but no clear solution.  Where exactly is the noise coming from?Is there a solution? Is this normal for all e420 or is it just a very common problem that may require warranty service?

I got this machine to look at as it had unusually high CPU usage and the CPU fan tends to stay on high speed though the machine isn't running any applications or visible tasks- just idling. I note that it has Norton Internet Security on it with a full year subscription though I'm not a big fan of Norton or McAfee. I had some program called Internet Security 2009 in the language of German on it but used Add/Remove Programs to get rid of it- likely malware or rogue AV. I also see a CA eTrust Internet Security Suite installed in the systray though upon opening it says nothing is installed- this being after I click OK to a popup message "eTrust Security Center: calSS.exe - Unable to Locate Component - This application has failed to start because ISafeIf.dll was not found reinstalling the application may fix this problem". I don't have a copy of the application and AppRemover was unable to find it in its scan so I could remove it. Any suggestions on that one?

I have gone thru the registry and removed quite a lot of items that load at startup so the systray is pretty light now and some things have improved. I removed all of the Java and will put updated versions on after you give the "all clear". I just wanted to have some eyes on the logs to see if anything else needs to go and if someone has a suggestion of how to get this CA Security Suite off of here as I know too many of these programs is more harmful than good. As I said it's not my... Read more

You can allow RogueKiller to fix the items it found, but I am not finding any malware in your logs. I suggest you post in the software forum for further assistance.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I was playing the Sims 3 at the highest graphics, then suddenly my computer went black (although still on) and the fans went into overdrive. While this was happening, my glowing keyboard and mouse would repeatedly turn on and off. I turned off my computer and tried to play again and it did the same thing. Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

About a year ago, I noticed that my computer was running slow (both online and off) and that the explorer.exe process listed in the Windows Task Manager was usually running very high. Windows Explorer seemed to crash a lot as well. A few months ago, I attempted to install Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 on my computer and before the install completed a warning window popped up saying something like 'there is already another instance of Kaspersky running' (which was not the case since this was the first time I had ever attempted to install Kaspersky software) and the install failed. When I rebooted my computer, I got the blue screen of death for a few seconds and then Windows booted with a message saying that Windows had recovered from a serious problem. Since recovering from whatever happened after the failed Kaspersky install, my computer is slower than ever and the Task Manager still shows a high CPU usage even though the System Idle Process is high and there isn't any processes listed that are using much CPU time at all.

I just scanned my system with the latest updated versions of AdAware, Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware, and Avira AntiVir. All of them found nothing. I then cleaned my computer with CCleaner and ran HijackThis.

Here is the log:

Dear support, I would like to report that my lenovo e540 is reaching really high tempreture values. While playing games (HOTS) the laptop reaches around 80-85 C degrees.Since i had upgraded to Windows 10 Pro I had two freezes on different evenings. When the laptop reaches high tempretures, the ventilator kinda does not want to go "man" mode and cool up the machine.I know that that the vent can do more I've heard it when I was updating bios(current v2.19).On a stress test I managed to reach 95 C degrees! No freeze!I opened the back cover, there is no dust accumulation on vent or grill. I am using only flat surfaces!.Please advice how to procceed or is it normal.Radoslav Miroslavov

Answer:Lenovo e540 High tempreture valies due to high load

Hi rmiroslavov,
Welcome to Lenovo Forums!
You can limit the max CPU ratio via power option,
To do it via the Power Options, right click the battery icon (or electrical plug icon) in the lower left corner of the screen, then...

Select a power plan and then click "Change plan settings"
Click "Change Advanced Power Settings"
Look for "Processor power management" and expand it
Expand "Maximum processor state"

And also request you to update the power management from below given link.
You can now enter the percentage usage of the CPU while the laptop is plugged in.
Please let us know whether the above steps helped you.

I have Toshiba Satellite C660-A235. Some days ago my machine was ok suddenly, fan is constantly running fastly every time and cpu consume minimum of 50 % . If i want to run some programs that require high cpu consumption the system is turn off automatically.

I have installed latest version of BIOS and all other drivers and installed new window 7.. Plzz help me

Answer:Satellite C660 - Constant high speed CPU fan and high usage of CPU

I think some kind of background processes stress the CPU.
You could check this in task manager-> processes tab
Click on CPU column to get the processes ordered and to show all the processes which stress the CPU.

Closing or disabling such processes can help to reduce the CPU performance.

i have a Dell 6400, running XP with SP3, which has been rock solid for 5 years even when running heavy load apps. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) appeared about 3 months ago, and has been repeating almost daily since, and my sound is skippy/crappy.- system idle process is always high, typically 50-97% of CPU load, which is understandable if there are no other apps active HOWEVER when I intentionally open multiple heavy apps such as Photoshop, Maximizer and MS Access in quick succession, and the CPU use spikes to 90-95% capacity (as expected), system idle process still hogs the vast majority of the CPU use and leaves maybe 10-20% for all the other apps.- i opened my task manager and listened to a MP3 file. System idle process was always high (as per above) and the sound 'skipping' increased proportionally with CPU load, which was being hogged by the system idle process- i downloaded and ran the MS SDK debug program on the BSOD mini-dump file. This revealed ... "unable to load image ntoskrnl.exe", "Unable to load image portcls.sys", and "Unable to load image sthda.sys" Since the latter 2 are audio related I uninstalled my audio driver and re-installed the latest version- i updated my Bios to the latest version- i ran chkdsk and it was error free- my system is virus free - i run Norton scans frequently I've spent a couple of days googling to solve this. Generally, Led high bay light is installed in the high altitude of 5-20m from the ground. Once the product fails, it will generate the following maintenance costs:
1. Machine rental fee for Aerial operation
2. Aerial operating fee of trained electrician

This problem began yesterday. I noticed my CPU was at 90C constantly with very high CPU usage (>50%). I had no major programs running. I rebooted several times and the program persisted.

1. I went into safe mode and everything was normal. So this rules out hardware issues.
2. I reformatted and everything was normal..but then after installing these few programs, the problem began again.

Answer:Very high CPU usage, causing very high laptop CPU temps (90c idle)

Hello. First off, having utorrent effectively craps you out on this forum since it has a bad rep. Suggest you remove it and come back, start a new thread. That said, if you're familiar with Task Manager, check the CPU percentage on the processes tab (click CPU column to sort). This may help pinpoint which app(s) are whack.

It's wierd... when I start up Granado Espada, 3-D MMORPG and move my camera angle something in my computer squeaks just as I move it.

Also, when I scroll up and down webpages.

These noises go away some time after the program has been opened.. but I just want to know what part of the computer is squeaking. I figure it's the GPU.

Oh and my case is open so mabye that's why I can hear it so well.

Answer:High high pitch sqeaking noise from computer when scrolling

Could be interference from something. If i have my volume WAY up, I can hear distortion when I move my mouse, but only if certain audio sources are enabled. Try going to your audio setup and turning off cd digital/analog and such one at a time and see if that helps.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300D and I was listening to music through the inbuilt speakers and the volume seemed to be going low-high-low-high (Like a pulse)

It's not that noticible but now I know about it.
I'm getting quite irritated with it. (I'm playing music through iTunes)

Also, this also happens when I use headphones, and when I play through external speakers.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this issue?

The multimedia button/music player button on the notebook itself opens Windows Media Player.

Does anyone know how to change that to iTunes?

Answer:Satellite A300D sound volume goes low-high-low-high

Did you notice this playing the music with MS Media Player, Win Amp or other applications?
Did you notice this without installation of 3rd party software like iTunes for example?

To be honest I never heard about such issue and I think this could be related to the 3rd party software preinstalled don your notebook.

> The multimedia button/music player button on the notebook itself opens Windows Media Player.
>Does anyone know how to change that to iTunes?

As far as I know this is not possible. I use my buttons wit Winamp because I could enable this in WinAmp software but it?s not known to me that a iTunes software would supports such extension too.

I see several posts regarding the high pitched noise when running in High Performance mode.  I switched to balanced and like the other posts said the noise went away.  Has anyone heard why this noise is made?  Would be nice to run in high performance mode with out this noise!!  Have not tried running on A/C power yet to see if it is different, do not imagine it will be.

It takes like 3 seconds to open the file explorer when the laptop is brand new and has i7 7700HQ, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB...

What i've done:
Scan for malware
Check for disk errors
Reboot (?)

Haven't installed anything weird lately... Any ideas?

Answer:High response time on new high-specs computer

Apparently, Nvidia laptops include some power boost options, so when you disconnect the laptop from the electricity, performance will drop significantly in order to save battery. This will include general OS performance as well as games FPS. Fixed by connecting the laptop lmao.

Hello. I'm currently experiencing high ping times after the 10th hop on my traceroutes, ping seems fine/reasonable at 50ms (though they usually are more stable then they are now, and lower) until it leaves the general location where I live. It's usually fine, but when this problem occurs it is sudden and lasts for quite some time. It's the same on any PC in my house. Is this due to network saturation or what? I pay Shaw $72 a month for this internet, and have problems every week with it, it seems like.

I have a WLI- CB HP 54 Buffalo wireless network card and it is supposed to reach further than regular wireless G cards, but my internal wirelesss on my laptop spans MUCH further.

I am using Windows XP SP2 and installed the driver and software about 3 times. I have found that windows configures it better than the software that came.

My question are a couple.. First. when i go and set up wireless zero configuration service to automatic, it keeps going off the next time i restart and when i search for networks it says "make sure your switch is turned on " .......

I called Buffalo and they said that it was my internal PCI adapter interferring with it. It is an A/B internal card. Within close range, the wireless card works fine.
I also wanted to know if there are dangers of having my internal A/B card and a wireless G card running at the same time.

Also the Buffalo says it is B/G, but doesn't pick up B networks well.

Thank you for your help.

Answer:Buffalo High Power Card Not high powered

Is your router A, B, or G? Also, I can't think of any danger, per se, of running both cards. This is a process called Multi-homing. If you plug in a LAN cable, you'll actually have 3 network connections, 3 IP Addresses, etc. Some apps may get confused & blow up, otherwise you're just using some resources unnecessarily. If it was me, I'd turn off the internal card if I had a G card I'd rather use...
