Can My Usb>microsd Adapter Read Sdhc If It Fills An 8gb Sdhc Card? Seller Says It Won't.

Question: Can My Usb>microsd Adapter Read Sdhc If It Fills An 8gb Sdhc Card? Seller Says It Won't.

I got an 8gb micro sdHC card filled up using the adapter, with music, which plays fine.

Before I received this cheap us>microSD adapter I asked the seller if it read HC cards. They said no. It's just a cheap chinese adapter on ebay so there isn't much info on it at all. It's write up didn't say anything about HC capabilities.

Like I mentioned, I was able to use it to load up an 8gb sdHC card.

Does this mean that it will probably also work with a 32gb sdHC card? Is there a size limit that the 8gb card didn't exceed?

If yes, I'd like to buy more now because I don't think these will hold up to much use.

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Can My Usb>microsd Adapter Read Sdhc If It Fills An 8gb Sdhc Card? Seller Says It Won't.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Can My Usb>microsd Adapter Read Sdhc If It Fills An 8gb Sdhc Card? Seller Says It Won't.

I found the same item elsewhere on ebay which mentions that it recognizes up to 32gb, which is what I needed.

So....I suppose there are quite a few adapters out there labelled only SD but will in fact read up to at least 32 SDHC cards.

I think going over 32gb cards might require additional capabilities.

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble with my laptop. It's an ASUS laptop running on Windows 8.1. I've had this computer for about a year now and have had no trouble before with having it pick up whatever SD cards that I insert into the port. However, a few weeks ago, I noticed that it will no longer read SD cards at all. When I updated to Windows 8.1 about 3-4 days ago, nothing changed. Cards still will not be read. I've tried 4 different SD cards before and after I undated windows. I've also tested the SD cards on other computers to make sure that the cards themselves were not faulty. {Which they are not. They are perfectly fine on other computers.} I've snooped through Disk Management on my windows and the SD cards will not show up on the list.

I'm hoping to get some help with this problem. Thanks in advance.

Any ideas why the 4GB SDHC might not be recognized by my computer? Might it be too large for my old HP Pavillion a320n?

Answer:Computer will not read 4GB SDHC card

It might be. Quite a few things won't read the SDHC cards. I'd consider looking for a card reader, maybe one that fits in a drive bay (floppy or cd) if you don't want anything external.

I have a small little card reader on the front of my laptop,
previously it's been able to read my card,
now it doesn't read it, well it kind of does but if I click to open it
it says to insert a card, it shows in My Computer but I can't access it
if I put any of my other cards in then they're read fine
i've even used other adapters and tried moving the card
but it doesn't work, also today for some unknown reason
there's now a pin on the card when it's in my phone
it has no un/lock slider on this card it seems the phone has randomly pinned it
I can't reformat it, it has stuff on there I can never get back
is there any way to fix the problem?

Hi.

I recently upgraded my Windows Vista 32 into a Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm not very tech savvy so I can't tell you details unless informed on how to. It's a Toshiba Satellite

Sorry, back to the topic, I have an SDHC card, and it worked fine, but I left it alone for a month or so and now I've tried to use it, and it won't read, and now my computer keeps making the sound as if I have inserted the card or a usb device into the computer. DO you think an upgrade may have messed with my computer?

Answer:Windows 7 SDHC Card not being read.

Welcome to SevenForums.

Since the upgrade to windows 7 might have not find any drivers during the process, i'll suggest you to go on the manufacturer site, searching for your computer model and see if there's any.

PS: Be more detailled about your laptop model, there's plenty of Toshiba Satellite!

Hello,

I own a Toshiba laptop of Qosmio F-50-series.

As I connected a SANDISK SDHC-Card 4 GB to my laptop there was no reaction of recognizing the new media.
No new driveletter nothing.

Can you help me?

Yours Starmind/Thomas

Answer:Qosmio F50 cannot read the SDHC card 4 GB

Hi

The card reader supports the SD cards 8MB-2GB and SDHC cards 4GB-16GB.
Therefore your card should be recognized without any big troubles.

Did you insert it correctly?

Try also to remove the card reader from the device manager and then reboot the notebook. After the Windows has booted again, the card reader should be recognized as new device. Then try to insert the CDHC card again

Answer:Lenovo G480 unable to read SDHC card

hi mynorkin,

If you have the Lenovo G480 (type 2184 or 2688) as listed in this pdf data sheet, this doesn't support SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) as the card reader installed on these system is only a 2-in-1 reader which only supports MMC and Secure Digital Card,

As an alternative, you can get a USB Card Reader.

Edit: Added sample usb card reader.

Hope this helps.

Answer:Re: Satellite A200-1N7 does not read SDHC card using Win 7 32bit

Hi

Did you install the card reader driver?
Did you notice an unknown device in device manager?

Please check the Toshiba European drive page for the card reader driver!
Satellite A200-1N7 belongs to the PSAE3E series?
I found the card reader driver for Vista 64bit?
Usually Vista driver should work on Win 7 OS too?

If this will not work, then try the drivers released for A500 or L500 series!

Hi,
I own a Satellite P200-1JY, my OS is windows 7, and I can't read SDHC card, but only SD card.
On the same PC under windows XP I was able to read SDHC card!
So I should have a driver problem?

Thanks for you help.

Answer:Satellite P200-1JY and Win7 - SDHC card cannot be read

Hi

First of all I have checked your user manual of Satellite P200 and it supports the following SD card types:
-SD up to 2GB
-SDHC: 4GB

Are you using such SD cards or with more capacity?

If you use such supported cards I would try updating the card reader driver. You can try the Flash Media Driver for Vista that you can get on the official Toshiba page.
Check this!!!

Portege R 500 does not read SDHC cards in the SD slot. Normal SD cards can be read without problems. Manual states, that SDHC cards can be read. in different forums it is stated, that SDHC cards up to 16 GB work without problems. I have already downloeded and installed the most recent version of SD utilities, unfortunately without success.

Answer:Portege R500: SDHC Card cannot be read in SD slot

Hi

I found out that you can use the 2GB SD cards and 8GB SDHC cards.

I don?t know why you are not able to use you SDHC card but I would recommend removing the SD slot from the device manager and after new reboot to reinstall the driver from the Toshiba European driver page.

But wait;
Did you use Windows XP?
If yes, did you install SP2 and this MS patch?

I'm not 100% sure if this is a hardware or software question but since it revolves around hardware I thought this forum might be most appropriate.

I have various Windows 7 systems and I have just acquired a 64GB SDHC micro memory card. This card came formatted as exFAT. If I put this card in the memory card slot in one of these systems using a Kingston SDHC Micro adapter it is recognised and I can process any video files on it perfectly. However if I place the SDHC card in an Integral (makers name) USB memory adapter, and the Kingston micro SDHC adapter then the same system does not recognise the card and says I need to format it (it shows zero bytes available on the card as well). Can anyone tell me if this is a normal situation and there is perhaps a 'hardware' limitation with USB 2 ports and USB Memory card adapters? or possibly this is a software issue? Just for clarification the SDHC micro card (Samsung EVO) in question is used in a Garmin VIRB camera for taking videos of bike rides and works perfectly well in the camera.

In one of my other systems I see the same results when using the USB memory card adapter, but I cannot try an SDHC card slot because I do not have a spare one in this other system.

Thanks for your help.
Bernard

Answer:exFAT formated SDHC card in a USB Mem adapter only recognised sometime

exFAT is a newish format (a lot newer that FAT32 & NTFS) so its possible your Kingston adapter is old and does not recognise this format
If this is a problem you could always reformat the card to either FAT32 or NTFS
The only real downside of changing the filesystem is that FAT32 has a 4gb file size limit so may not be suitable if you want to record lengthy videos in high resolution and NTFS has a lot more overhead data than FAT so will slow down transfer speeds slightly and occupy a tiny bit more space but unless your really pushing the cards capacity and speed I doubt you will notice any difference

exFAT vs FAT32 vs NTFS

Found the following on the Sandisk website.

Other options you can use to read files on your SDHC card
If your computer's card reader is not SDHC compatible, you have 3 options available:

1. You can connect your camera (or other device) that works with SDHC to your computer using a USB cable that came with the camera. You should be able to transfer files to the computer this way.

2. You can contact your computer manufacturer to see if they have a free firmware update for your model that will make it SDHC compatible

3. You can buy inexpensive SanDisk SDHC card readers that will connect to your computer's USB port. Click to expand...

Answer:Hp Envy 17 touchscreen SDHC Card reader do not read card in ...

@YoannFromParis, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  When dealing with the issues from doing an update to Windows 10 there are a few things that may work to fix the issue. First thing to try is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. The next step is to run the HP BIOS recovery to reload the BIOS to see if it will sync up with the operating system. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS And if this fails to fix the problem, if you did the update to Windows 10 you can do the stand alone installation to see if it fixes any conflict. Download Windows 10 The other option is to roll back to the previous operating system until new updates get released by Microsoft and then uploaded on the HP support page for your notebook. Please let me know how things go.  Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

I have switched on Vista ReadyBoost using a pretty old SD card of only 256MB in the built-in card-reader of the notebook. It is kind of speeding up the system so I plan to buy a big size high speed SD-Card to use it for Vista ReadyBoost in order to gain full value of this functionality.

However, SD-Cards of 4GB (mostly) or more than 4GB (all) are not just SD but SDHC cards.

Officially the internal 6-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter of my Notebook is specified to deal with "SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card, SD IO". So I am wondering, if the card reader will support SDHC cards as well. If it wont support SDHC, it would be intersesting if at least (standard) SD cards of 4GB are supported.

Any help is highly appreciated!

Hey all.  I just bought a Thinkpad Advanced Dock for my T61 and it's pretty much replaced my old desktop system.  The only problem I'm having with it is that the card reader in the dock won't read SDHC cards.  It'll read SD cards fine, but doesn't do anything for SDHC cards.  My T61 will read SDHC cards, which I use as a readyboost drive, but I'd rather use the card reader built into the dock for it.  I've looked for updated drivers, but apparantly the dock doesn't have drivers, according to the Lenovo site's Drivers section.  Any help?   Now all I have to do is wait to get a video card to replace the crappy Intel x3100 in my T61...  Any recommendations on a better one than the one Lenovo recommends? I've heard good things about the PowerColor AX6570 and ATI Radeon HD 4670.  There are Youtube videos of it in an Advanced Dock, playing Crysis 2 at roughly 30fps.  Personally I'd lean more towards the Powercolor, but that's just me.  Thanks in advance. System Specs:Lenovo T61 6465-01U6GB RamWindows 7 Home Premium x64Thinkpad Advanced Dock Note: I hope this is the right section to post this.  I figured since it was T61 related, it might belong here.  Sorry if it doesn't.

Answer:Thinkpad Advanced Dock won't read SDHC cards? & Video Card Recommendation?

Hello,

If you have heard that the PowerColor AX6570 or the ATI Radeon HD 4670 works in the ThinkPad Advanced Dock, then I would recommend going with that, as finding a low-profile single-slot video card that fits into the dock and works in it may be difficult.

Given the era in which the ThinkPad Advanced Dock was designed, it may only support SD cards via the card reader.  I would  suggest attaching an SDHC card reader via one of the USB ports, or perhaps via the CardBus or ExpressCard ports, if those aren't being used.

Answer:SDHC adapter slot

Hi Plzdontmessup, and welcome to TSG.

You're not giving us much to work with. You need to give us more details, such as, but not limited to ...

Is this a SDHC slot part that came installed on the computer? If so, brand and full model number of the computer?

If this an external adapter that plugs into a USB port, the brand and model number of the adapter? Have you tried a different USB port?

Have you tried another SDHC card?

What operating system is running on the computer?

Exactly what happens when you connect the adapter to the computer? What happens when you plug in an SDHC card?

Does the Windows Hardware Manager show any USB or storage problems?

Greetings. Newbie to forum here. I have been using a PNY Optima SDHC 8GB card with my Canon 60D for about 10 months with no problems. Today I downloaded photos onto my pc, put the card back in my camera to reformat and use again today at a shoot, and camera says, "No Card in Camera". I took the 8 GB card out, put a smaller card in, camera reads it fine. Put the 8GB card back in my pc, pc reads it fine.
Is there an average lifespan for these cards?

Thanks

Answer:Canon 60D will not read PNY Optima SDHC 8GB

Hi

There should not be a short lifespan to solid state media but their will be some issues with the contacts on the card as they can wear out over time and large usage.

I feel that this maybe a formatting issue, so while I would normally state only format the cards in the camera of use, what I would try in your case is to format the card via your PC (what Windows version you using BTW) then re-format in the camera.

Also a small trick I learned while working for Kodak is to use an eraser to clean the cards contacts as they maybe dirty, but this may not be the case as the card reads in the PC ok but still worth a try.

Hi,

last year I have bought a Satellite L40 Series and a Windows Vista was installed on it. I found everything worked properly.

Since I found that Windows Vista is kinda slower than XP, I downgraded it into Windows XP and I installed manually all drivers. Everything works well until I found that I can read only SD-card with the Ricoh Card Reader on my laptop. With Windows Vista it could read SD and SDHC.

Since all of my files saved in SDHC, I really want to solve this matter.

I detected on the computer that my card reader hardware is :

Ricoh Memory Stick Host controller (1.0.2.5)
Ricoh MMC Host COntroller (1.0.0.9)
Ricoh XD Picture Card Host Controller (1.00.02.08 / 6.0.1.13)

The questions are :
1. Can the card reader read SDHC with Windows XP platform?
2. If yes, what should I do with it? Maybe I have to install a new driver? (If yes, where can I find it?)

Thank you for your concern. I am really glad if you can help me to solve this matter.

Best regards,
Jenny

Normally the Satellite L40 can read SDHC cards up to 8GB so my question is have you tried different brands of SDHC cards?
I have good experience with Kingston and SanDisk cards.

Furthermore you should check the Toshiba website for an update of the card reader:

Last but not least have you installed all Service Packs and Updates for Windows?

I've had a time of it with Hardware and Software support trying to get an answer and hope someone here might have had the same issue. I've had a H405 7723-1AU  for about three weeks now. I've been using SD and MicroSD cards in the Media Reader with no problems. I popped in a brand new Transcend SDHC 16GB (Class 10) card today and it doesn't get recognized. I've installed the Realtek USB driver from the disk - it previously had the MS generic driver - to 6.1.7600.30116 3/12/2010 but it still doesn't work. The machine "acts like" it's going to read (well, the hard drive light show a lot of activity when it's inserted) but then it just sits there... To test the card I hooked up my 5+ year old SanDisk USB reader and it reads all the cards; SD, MicroSD with SD adapter, and SDHC just fine... slow transfer though. Lenovo Software Support thinks it's a bad Media Reader, and of course, Lenovo Warranty thinks it's a driver issue. Any ideas from an experienced user? Thanks in advance!

Dear all,

My U500-18k stops read SD card. When SD card is inserted Windows explorer show SD icon, but when I'm clicking on the icon, getting the message "Please insert a disk into SD (J)". I tried to read SDHC 8Gb cards. The cards are certainly working. With MMC and XD card reader works well,
I reinstalled SD utilities and Richon card controller driver. This doesn't fix the problem. OS Win 7 x64. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Does Satelitte A300-1G5 support SDHC Class 6/4 memory cards?

I've tried to search this over the internet and in the Users's Manual and it specifies SD cards but no SDHC.
Also, I've read other Satelitte A300 answers on SDHC saying that it can be read.

Will my model read it too?

Answer:Does Satellite A300-1G5 read SDHC Class 6/4 cards?

Hi dude

The Satellite A300-1G5 series supports the cards from type:
- SD Card - 8MB-2GB
- SDHC Card - 4GB-16GB
- xD picture card - 16MB-2GB
- Memory Stick - 8MB-256MB
- Memory Stick Pro - 256MB-2GB
- MultiMediaCard - 8MB-2GB
- miniSD (with adapter) - 32MB-2GB
- microSD (with adapter) - 512MB-4GB
- Memory Stick Pro Duo(with adapter) - 256MB-4GB

As you can see there is no limitation in SDHC card type but in the card size.
Hope this helps you.

Answer:Can Satellite 2450-114 read SDHC with the latest drivers?

Hi

The Satellite 2450-114 is an oldie and in my opinion it would not support the SDHC card even using latest drivers? why?
Because the card support does not depends on software/driver but this is a simple hardware limitation (card reader)

Therefore I would recommend using an external USB card reader? such readers are not expensive and easy in use?

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 when installing a new Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB and now my internal SD card reader which I think is a Ricoh will not work when I insert a SD above 4GB, it works for smaller cards.  I have tried installing the drivers from the Lenovo KB and my Windows Troubleshooter says all drivers for that device are up to date.  One thing that I have noticed is that when I insert the card the Ricoh device pops up, but also responds with an uninstalled PCI Serial Port.  I do not know what device this is, but it doesn't show up unless an SDHC card is inserted and remains after I take it out, but when I do a restart it has disappeared and it is not there if I insert a 4gb SD card first.  Another thing I have noticed is that the card does pop up in the Disk Management utility, but it is unreadable.  I have checked the card on cameras and a friend's computer and know that it works and is not corrupted.  See pics below and the PCI serial port ID # and you can see my frustration... hopefully someone can help fix this issue, I need to read SDHCs for work all the time and would prefer not to have to buy a peripheral device to do the job...

Hi

What does the user manual said?
Did you check this?

For me it looks like Toshiba Australian notebook series.
I searched in the manual which I?ve found on the Toshiba Australian page and it says that these cards are supported:

*SD* 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB
*MMC* 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB
*MS* 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB
*MS Pro* 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB
*xD* 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB

As you see the SDHC cards are NOT supported.

Question: SDHC Card

I have a Sony VGC RB62G computer with Win XP SP3. It will not recognize a 4GB SDHC card. Where can I find the drivers for the SDHC card?

Answer:SDHC Card

Hello and Welcome -A quick line or 2 on SD and SDHC complianceIf your computer's internal card reader works with 2GB (or lower) SD cards but fails to read a 4GB (or higher) SDHC card, then the computer's internal reader is not SDHC compliant. This same logic also applies to digital cameras, if the digital camera reads 2GB (or lower) SD cards but fails to read a 4GB (or higher) SDHC card, then the digital camera is not SDHC compliant.SD and SDHC specificationsThe initial SD card specification defined the interface for cards only up to 2GB capacity. The subsequent SDHC specification was developed to provide increased capacity of 4GB ? 32GB cards. Computers and other products purchased before 2008 may not be SDHC compatible. Computers and other products purchased before 2007 are not SDHC compatible.Verifying the card reader slotIf the card reader slot on your computer does not have the SDHC logo, it is most likely not SDHC compatible and will only read cards up to 2GB capacity.Other options you can use to read files on your SDHC cardIf your computer's card reader is not SDHC compatible, you have 3 options available:1. You can connect your camera (or other device) that works with SDHC to your computer using a USB cable that came with the camera. You should be able to transfer files to the computer this way.2. You can contact your computer manufacturer to see if they have a free firmware update for your model that will make it SDHC compatible3. You can buy inexpensive ... Read more

I plugged in my SD/SDHC Card device into my computer, multiple times to no avail. It's possible that my computer didn't detect it. How can I fix this?

Answer:Help with SD/SDHC card

Hi Angelique1472, and welcome to TSG.

I can't tell from your subject line and post if you are having a problem with plugging an SD/SDHC card into a reader on the computer or if your are having a problem with attaching an SD/SDHC reader to the computer.

In the first case, if you are using an SDHC card and an older computer, the reader may not be compatible with SDHC cards and may only support SD cards below a certain capacity.

In the second case, the reader may not be detected until there is a memory card plugged into it. If it is an older reader, it may not be compatible with SDHC cards. The reader may also require drivers be installed on the computer in order to function.

In any case, please give us the details of all the hardware involved and the version of the operating system running on your computer.

There's only one program I know of and it's attached in ZIP format. Make sure to read the "Read Me". I'd be leary of the "no-name" Chinese one. It could be one of those "doctored" cards that are made to seem like their capacities are much more than their actual capacities.

I got myself a HD video camera some time ago, and now I just need to buy myself a SDHC card for it. It will be 16GB, and has to be Class 6 minimum. I am rather confused on which one I should really consider purchasing. I have uploaded the pictures, so anyone can go have a look at them. I managed to narrow it down a bit to the ones that have a lifetime warranty on them, and of course are Class 6. I would prefer not to spend more than 100NZD + GST on one if possible. Each of the pictures should be showing NZD and GST anyway.
Which would would be the best one to pick, and why?

Answer:What SDHC card to choose....

I don't know if it's my screen resolution or your screen capture; but, I can't read the specs.

First, I would be sure my camera will not exceed the card's write speed. From there, all that would matter to me would be its read speed. The slower the read, the longer it would take to transfer data from the card.

As for lifetime warranty, bear in mind that one year from now, that same card may cost half as much and two years from now, the cost of shipping it back for replacement will probably not be much more than the cost of a new one of the same capacity. Bearing that in mind I would not consider a lifetime warranty of any more value than a two- or three-year warranty.

We just bought an 8GB SDHC Transcend micro SD card from amazon. I did not realize there were probs. I put it directly into my tower in the card slot and nothing pops up. If I put my regular old 2GB micro SD in the slot, it immediately pops up, but not the SDHC card. Is there a fix for this? Something I can download to make it recognized or did I waste my money and get a piece of junk? Please help. This was actually my son's money; he wanted this, and I did not realize there was an issue with these until I googled the prob and had tons of people's complaints pop up.

Answer:SDHC card not recognized

Your flash reader is not SDHC compliant. Many SDHC cards come packaged with a small USB adapter. The SDHC card is (likely) not junk.

Question: SDHC card problem

I have a Canon Ixus is850. Before holiday I found it would accept the SCHC cards and I bought a Kingston 4gb SDHC card as I knew I would likely be taking movies rather than stills. I have downloaded images from the card to computer Ok except for one which none of the software I have (Picasa, Canon, Adobe or Micro) recognise which is a movie at 1.3gb long. Shorter movies have downloaded from the card OK. It plays in the camera without trouble and when connected to TV. Yes we can watch it OK but I want to back it up. I have tried though the camera and through the card reader (which didn?t recognise the card) on both PC and laptop. Any suggestions please? Thanks

I was curious about how to fix an SDHC card that has started telling the camera the memory card has an error and that it is locked. Then when you went to put it in the computer the computer won't recognize it at all either. I did a Google on this problem and the only thing I could find was about the little slide on the side that would lock the card.

That was not the case with this as it happened in the camera. We were at a Luau in Maui and the card went to 0 and said Memory card error. Not a nice thing to see when you have a couple days worth of pictures from Kauai and another couple from Maui. I then placed the card in the computer when we got back from the Luau hoping I could recover them from the card. No program was going to be able to recover them because now the computer will not even recognize the card when I put it in. I cleaned the contacts on the card with a Q tip to make sure they were not dirty but that still did not help.

I was curious to find out what people have done to get the card to work. I did come up with a solution but am just wondering what others have done.

Help,

I bought a Canon 450D with an 8gb SDHC, didnt format the card, took a load of photos, then realised my computer would not recogise the card at all, i mean nothing, when in the SD drive and using an external card drive, so i tried connecting the camera to the computer and still nothing. Now the camera wont even recognise the photos and just says the card needs to be formatted, so i gave up on saving the photos but the camera will not even format the card now! So its useless to me right now.

I then bought a second 8gb card, formatted it this time, took a load of photos, still computer will not even recognise card, at all. But i do have a 512mb old card that works perfectly, no problems, instantly recognised.

Any thoughts? Are these two 8gb cards of any use? I did download and try 'Recuva' to find the photos but it was unable to find the card.

Any ideas appreciated.

Answer:Computer cannot see 8gb SDHC card

Older readers can’t read the new HD cards. But you should be able to access the photos through the camera connection. You didn’t say whether you tried the camera with the second card.

It sounds like the first card might have been defective. I don’t think you would get that kind of indication if the card had the write protection switch on, but check it anyway.

Hi, currently i'm very outdated since all I own is an Olympus SD card with 128mb memory which i've been using in my Fuji digital camera that i bought long ago.
see: http://www.shopping.com/Fuji-FUJIFILM-128-sec-XD-Picture-Card-DPC-128/info

At this time, the card has become pretty full, so decided to buy one with more memory.

But all I see now in stores are SDHC memory cards which look somewhat different than the SD card i've been used to.

The guy at the Walmart tech dept. couldn't say for sure if their SDHC cards would fit my digital camera, because my camera & SD card were at my house, and he didn't want to guarantee a fit, sight unseen.

Can someone please advise which current ones would be as compatible for my camera as the above linked one?

Thanks

I am having problems downloading from a SDHC card.    In the past all I had to do was insert the card and the pictures were downloaded.   I'm now getting a pop-up on lower left corner of my screen that simply says SDHC.    I'm lost as to what to do.

Answer:Downloading SDHC Card

Upon the detection of a "removable" device, Windows can do a few different things. For example, insert a CD-ROM, and it will ask "open to view files", or "play music".In fact, Windows can be set to "automatically" do one of those choices. So, I think that, in the past, you had told Windows to automatically run some software to upload the pictures. But, that "default" seems to have been "lost". If you double-click that 'SDHC', does Windows pop-up a menu of choices? Is there a check-box to "automatically use my choice each time" ? If you open 'Computer', do you see a list of devices, e.g., 'C:' for your disk-drive, 'D:' for your CD/DVD,and maybe 'E:' is associated with the SDHC device?  Double-click on 'E:', and see what happens.

I have a Lenovo Ideacentre all in one touchscreen pc with internal dvd, usb and sdhc card reader - but it has not recognised any of these since the Windows 10 upgrade. How do I now download photos from the card from my camera?

Answer:Why does my PC now not recognize the sdhc card?

I'd first check Lenovo's site for any new drivers:Products - Lenovo Support (US)
Then, check for updates for Windows 10 in Settings/Update&Security
You can also check each of these devices by right clicking on the Start button, selecting Device Manager, and see if there's any issues with these installed devices. If there's a problem, there will usually be a yellow exclamation mark next to the device in the list. Here, you can also manually update driver software (if a newer driver exists) by expanding the device category and right clicking on the device in question.

Hi all I have fresh new T500 P8600 (1680x1050) with Windows XP installed via recovery disks since yesterday. Today I wanted to move my photos from 8GB SDHC card and I was shocked that JPG files moved to the computer contained rubbish (not even started with JPG magic number). Originally I blamed card/camera from sudden malfunction but... Later I found out that while the filesystem reported 8GB, recovery software reported the card as 3.55GB large - and format reported the same size as well. There was no warning, card seamingly worked, but I guess the JPG data were beyond the limit that the T500 can read. I found other posts about SDHC problem, but I'm not sure if it is the same reason. Are bigger cards supported? Is it only SDHC problem? I don't have other types of cards to test. I will appreciate any hint on this issue. Thanks.

Answer:T500 and SDHC 8GB card in Windows XP

I wasn't sure if the driver is right, because in Device manager the SD card host didn't say "Ricoh" anywhere (and driver seems to be some Microsoft generic driver), so I rather reinstalled the Ricoh driver from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68053.html No change, it still wants to format the card only to 3.55G. Colleague's Fujitsu-Siemens has no problem to see 7.55GB of the card. Is it driver problem or is the reader limited? (That would be real shame in such a recent notebook model.) EDIT: One more update - the card works just fine in reader of other colleague's T400. Frustrating. Message Edited by virgo47 on 05-14-2009 05:25 AM

Will my XPS 8300 support an SD/SDHC memory card in one of the front slots?
I'm currently using an SD/mini-MMC/RS card OK, but I can't find anything to confirm that an SD/SDHC card will work as well.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Recently I have acquired a 32GB SDHC memory card.

The card accepts audio and video data but when trying to play them on windows media player/real player the players message that the format or the codec used to compress the files is unknown to the players.

Tried K-Lile 9.10 full version and FFRoad show of no avail.

My system is windows XP with SP3 runs on Pentium 4 platform.

Any suggestion please?

W520Win 7When I put my smart card into the reader and open My Computer, the card isn't shown.  I see C: and D: but no smart card.  I noticed that this only seems to happen after I have had the computer go to sleep in Maximum Battery Life mode. Another annoyance:  I thought I would just hit the "refresh" button on My Computer.  Big mistake.  The little green bar just keeps loading and getting slowly bigger for like 30 minutes until I finally get disgusted and restart the computer.  Then it can see the smart card...  Any ideas?

Answer:SDHC reader doesn't see the card.

You should update the Smart card reader driver and BIOS the check if the issue gets resolved.

Smart Card reader driver can be download from the mentioned below web link.
SmartCard reader driver for Windows 7 (32-bit)
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8axx51ww.exe

SmartCard reader driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8axv51ww.exe

BIOS can be download from the mentioned below web link.
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8buj14us.exe

If the issue continues the change the battery mode from Maximum Life

I have two questions to audience. Q1 I found I have IO errors so that is sign of my 1.8 inch hard drive is going to fail. I decided to buy faster SSD drive with higher capacity. For instance http://www.ebay.com/itm/182033131040. My question is if this SSD fits to my thinkpad. I heart that there are different form factor sizes. Can anybody make it more clear? Q2 I have plugged micro SHDC in my Sd card slot. If I plug out card manually and reconnecting again there is no drive recognized. I must reboot laptop in order to get it working. I upadted drivers. I do not know what is root cause of this problem. Any advice is welcomed.

Answer:SSD for T410s, SDHC card removal

Welcome to the forum!

The link you provided for Q1 tells me the item has been removed :-(

Generally speaking any 1.8" SATA drive should work. Alternatively you can buy a mSata SSD and a 1.8" to mSata converter, which gives additional options in terms of GB size and brands. But then you need to buy two products and be careful with the assembly (see some pictures here: click me! it's a German site but still you can see how this specific combination looks).

No idea about Q2 from my side... Sorry...

Not sure if I am submitting this in the right forum?? I have tried to put a 4gb Agfaphoto SD HC card into my Samsung L80 camera and it wont accept it, when trying to format the card on the menu the camera comes up with a message saying "check SD card" however the laptop recognizes the CD card and it also works in a Kodak playsport movie camera no problem, can anyone think what is wrong here?? the Samsung camera works fine with my usual 2gb SD cards, I would imagine a 4gb card is not a problem for the camera as the manual says that SD/MMC cards up to 1gb are guaranteed (but I am using a 2gb card normally with no problem) - any idea's?? thanks PCDIMWIT

Answer:+++ 4gb SDHC memory card problem +++

does your L80 accept SDHC cards...not all older cameras do. you may be limited to 2gb SD cards...

Dear all, I feel terribly stupid, but the following is the case:Something seems to be blocking my SDHC card reader at the right front side of my X220. I cannot insert a SDHC card therefore. I know sometimes these readers contain a plastic dummy, which might be the case now as well, but if it is I'm not able to dislodge it without applying so much force I'm afraid i will damage something. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks!Jan

heya, its me again!! can i ask how do i transfer pics from my pc to my sdhc memory card ive got 1 of those usb thingys what memory card fits in to but after that i have no idea

Answer:how do i transfer photos from pc to sdhc card

Are you sure you want to copy pictures from your PC to the camera's card? Forgive me asking, but why?If it is necessary to cart some photos around with you, then a pen drive is much the better way.To copy from the pc to any memory gizmo, find the file you want to copy, and "copy" it can now be "pasted" wherever you like.... camera's memory, a pen drive, or even to another place on your PC

I just bought a sandisk 32 GB SDHC card. The card will only hold four photos. How do I make the SDHC card work properley??

Answer:SDHC Card GB 32 will not save more than four photos.

Where did you buy the card from? It could be a fake.Does the capacity show up correctly in 'Computer'? Did you format it in your computer first and what filesystem did it format as - FAT32 or NTFS?"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Pink Floyd

Installed the posted drivers for win7 x64 on Y730 for the card reader.  Still unable to read 4GB cards, 1GB and 2GB work but the SDHC ones seem to not.  It works in Linux, so I know the hardware is capable.  Just a windohs thing i guess. Almost a month and no replies, is anyone else having this problem?  The original installation of Vista reads the SDHC cards fine, but the drivers for Win7 just plain don't.  Would be super if this can get fixed since the U330's got their BIOS update.

Answer:Does Equium M70 support 4GB or 8GB SDHC card

Hi!

The Equium M70 supports only SD cards up to 1GB so SDHC cards will not work.

You can find this information in the user manual. I have checked it and so I know this.
If you don?t have the user manual you can download it on the Toshiba website.

Bye

When I fit the T61p with a scandisk SDHC extreme III card, after a while, the compter is like loosing the track of the card. The explorer sees the card, but it cannot read it. If an application was using it, it is like frozen. The moment i plug in / out the card the systems seems to remember that there was a card and explorer reads it and the application (say excel or word) works with it. Until a few moments. I've been searching this site, and found some answer with suggested drivers, but all seem for xp, while i'm using Vista Ultimate. The card is not used with readyboost, because that would send the whole computer in a frozen mode until i plugged in /out the card, the it would "get back to life" Does anyone has the same problem with VU and SDHC card ?Message Edited by Calabrache on 02-25-2009 07:59 AM

Answer:T61p, SDHC card & Vista

I was able to solve on a W500 with this solution for a T61: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70881 The solution does not involve any drivers that were not already on the computer, so it doesn't appear to be version specific.

Hi,Question 1: I want to completely format and 'empty' a 4GB SDHC card to NTFS to use for Vista?Do not want to card to have system files left on or placed onto it and do not want it to be RAW.Please can you help?Question 2: Also want to enable the same card to run a program during bootup for Vista?Recently, sent an e-mail message to J T Technologies to ask how to do this.Received a reply stating that I must place onto the card the following files: BCD, BOOTMGR, HAL.DLL, NTOSKRNL.EXE, WIN.COMI placed these files and Malwarebytes Anti-malware onto card, as an experiment, to see if it would run during bootup! But, of course, it did NOT work and an error message was displayed. So, I contacted J T Technologies to ask the following question: "What other drivers and/or files do I need to place onto the SDHC card together with the ones already placed onto 'it'???".The next day, in response to that question, I received the following reply:"(A program) will not run unless you load Windows first then install the program".I then replied with "Why do you need to place the Vista operating system onto a SDHC card when it is already installed?".In response I received the following message on the same day!:"You don't need to install Windows you need to load/bootup Windows and install the software in Windows by double clicking the .exe file".But, as yet I have not responded! So, even though I have not responded, yet, that question still stands! What do you think? I look forward to your reply!... Read more

Answer:Have 2 questions in reference to a 4GB SDHC card

It would help to know which specific application you want to install on the memory card.In most cases though, applications cannot be installed on to a memory card. That location will not be available in the install options. You need a "portable" version of the application if you want to run it from a memory card. Portable version doesn't need installing.message edited by phil22

After many aborted attempts to retrieve some 475 photos from an 8gb sdhc card which has become (?)corrupted I have downloaded the free demo version of ZAR 9.2 as recommended in this publication and it has now been running for 5.5hrs completing just 39% of the scan "Volume analysis" and all the signs on the "Volume Map" are in red = "Bad Sectors"- so some help as seems it is going to take another 8 hours just to do this so does that sound acceptable?
What happens after all this has been done?
We have managed to download to the PC about 50% of the photo's the others are either blank or are showing only a % of the actual photo. The strange thing is that all of the photo's (thumb nails)can be viewed on the camera's screen - Nikon D40 and I should say it took over 2 hours to do that when normally on my PC it takes no more than 2/3 mins.

Answer:Retrieving photo's from SDHC card

Sounds like a very long time to me. Have a look at this program, may be better/quicker ?

I want to get an SD memory card for my digital camera

I can get a class 4 Micro SDHC Memory Card for the same price
I've loads of SD adapters lying around so can use the smaller one with my digital camera

Will I have any problems doing this??
i.e. get the smaller memory card and use in my camera with the adapter?
Then I have the freedom of using it with my mobile phone if I every needed to

Is there any effect in the speed - the fact that we're using through an adapter?

Thanks!

As a birthday present I was given an 8GB SDHC card for my Nikon camera. When I put the card into my computer SD slot to download the photographs it does not read the card. I understand that there is a problem with the high capacity cards on older computers. Is there a fix for Windows Vista or should I purchase a USB card reader that will support HC cards? My system info is displayed below.
Thanks in anticipation.

Reassign the reader as a usb.  Easy peasy.  I do this almost weekly when I need remote admin rights.

I just recently inherited a Dell E6520 and am having a problem getting it to see a 16gb SDHC card from my camera. I am running Win 7 Pro 64bit, and the machine acknowledges the USB card reader, but does not see the card. The same card and reader combination works perfectly on my desktop running the same OS. When I insert the card in the on board reader in the laptop it is completely ignored. The machine was reimaged just before before it came to me and is 100% up to date with the Microsoft update site, and there are no red or yellow X's or triangles in the device manager. Any and all thoughts and suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Answer:16GB SDHC card not recognized, Win 7 Pro

Plug the USB card reader into the Back USB port of the computer and not the front or through a Hub, as these port are weaker. With the card in, go to Start/Search and type diskmgmt.msc, right click the diskmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Disk Management window, in the lower half you should see your USB Card Reader, and it should see your Card, however the files system may be Unallocated Space, or the Disk # (eg) Disk 1, Disk 2 etc may say Not Initialized (RAW)
If so, backup any files you want off of the card in the computer that can read it, Return the card here and in Disk Management, Right click the Unallocated Space/Create a new Simple Volume, Format it NTFS.
