Touchpad detection (or driver or something) on Lenovo Laptop Flex 2 15

Question: Touchpad detection (or driver or something) on Lenovo Laptop Flex 2 15

First of all, in spite of the timing of this post (posting the same day that the update is becoming available for most people), this isn't Windows 10.1/115 (I forget the update's nickname) related (this computer hasn't updated yet). A few days ago, the trackpad stopped working. (It worked fine for about 3 months with Windows 10, and roughly a year with Windows 8.1)

I tried the device manager "uninstall device" thing, which often works. In this case, however, detect hardware did not detect the trackpad after uninstalling.
I've tried all drivers I can find, including the latest driver per Lenovo's website (plus the one Windows update installs, ironically newer than Lenovo's website
I've tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't lead to any success after reinstalling later
The device does list itself in the trackpad/mouse properties panel in the systray, I don't know if that means it's being detected somewhere, or if it's because the driver is installed. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249
In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."
On this device, the F6 key is the one that activates/deactivates the trackpad normally, but nothing happens, no feedback, and no magical fix. For comparison purposes, the brightness, volume, mute, etc. OTHER hotkeys do work.
Searches through event viewer for the device ID include a few references to the device, implying that on some level it's being detected? (I would assume? )
The machine is 2 months out of warranty. Lenovo tech support *almost* helped me, and implied they knew how to fix it, but wouldn't volunteer any information, all they wanted was to get me to subscribe to support, or pay for a one time support ticket.

Personally, I'm not completely convinced it's not hardware, but I'm holding out hope. Any advice or tips?

Preferred Solution: Touchpad detection (or driver or something) on Lenovo Laptop Flex 2 15

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My lenovo flex 2 14 touchpad is saying tham I have 4 fingers on the touch pad (which is evidently effecting it as i cant use it what so ever), when I dont. This occured out of no where, and no software, or system changes have occured to cause this issue, and I haven't the slightest cluse as to what caused it, furthermore when I touch the touch pad on the top left corner, it goes down to 2 or 3 fingers. im on windows 8.1. any advice or fixes would be appriciated

?I bought a laptop, Lenovo flex -1570 from US through amazon.com, for my father's birthday present. Thanks for ruining it in a way that I could have never imagined. In just 2 days of laptop usage, the mouse pad has come out. The amazing service center in India (ticket no. HT014716010) said that the glue that held mousepad to the laptop "WASN'T STICKY ENOUGH" and added that they do not support this laptop as its "international warranty" is limited to US and China and I need to take it to your US service center to fix it. $619 laptop, 2 days, and it is nothing more than a junk box to me. As a birthday present I have gifted my father nothing more than added tension and thanks to you guys for making that happen. Attaching a pic for your reference. ?

I have a Flex 3 laptop computer running Windows 10.  I have the ELAN Touchpad driver configured so that tapping is disabled, and the driver icon is visible in the taskbar. Quite frequently, the tourchpad reverts to its default settings and the driver icon disappears from the task bar.  If I go into settings and open the mouse / touchpad settings, everything starts working again (with out me changing any of the settings). This is driving me CRAZY.  How can I stop this from happening?

Drivers are also updated.I`m typing with an external keyboard and mouse. Touchscreen and touch-keyboard work both fine. Is there anything I can check in the OS to verify what is going on? Maybe I turned off something. It's a mistery, laptop is brand new. Thanks in advance!!

I'm having this issue as well except on my Yoga 2 Pro. I have the pinch to zoom feature disabled (which is frustrating since it's a useful feature). Usually it zooms in when scrolling down, often to percentages between 800 and 900% view.

Hello, looks like i found the solution! I recently came across another post in this forum, where the user had reported his g5050 showing similar symptoms like mine. A lenovo admin had suggested that it might be due to excess charge stored on the laptop, causing the whole f the keyboard and the touchpad to act like its loosely connected. Solution:As soon as i find my laptop fully charged, immediatley i took off the power plug going into the laptop! And now, its all working fine!

Hi, I hope you're doing well. I recently upgraded my Lenovo Flex 2 (15 inch) notebook from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After upgrading, the right click button on my touchpad stopped working. Suspecting a driver issue, I uninstalled the driver to allow the default Windows driver to take over. The right-click button started to work again, so it's not a hardware problem. However, the touchpad, in general, became erratic and difficult to use. I then downloaded the latest Lenovo Flex 2 touchpad driver for Windows 10. However, the touchpad returned to the way it was after the upgrade and the right-click button does not work. Please help me with this. I need my laptop to function properly during my travels. Kind regards, Ash

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 - Upgrading to Windows 10 Disables Right-Click Button on Touchpad

Since nobody in the Lenovo community answered this, and Customer Support refuses to provide support for their own drivers (without charging you $70 for Premium Support), I will post the solution that I found on my own, so that other innocent customers can be helped. Uninstall the touchpad driver from Programs & Features, then download Windows 8.1 version of the touchpad driver (Bay) from the Lenovo Flex 2 drivers page. Install it and it will work perfectly on Windows 10 (unlike the Windows 10 driver). Enjoy. Ash

I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... Adding some info after some new research. Will try other 2 slightly different options:1) 15s power button trick with battery and charger unplugged2) Installation of LeNovo provided Intel ME drivers, read some info that it might interfere at the keyboard and mice functionality. Actually I'm running Windows chipset provided drivers. But still in doubt, which available driver should I install? There are 2 available.1) Intel ME Driver 63.6 MB Windows 10 (64-bit) 11.0.0.1176 - Release 30/8/20162) Intel Management Engine Interface Driver 81.5 MB Windows 10 (64-bit) 11.6.0.1015 - Release 29/11/20163) Both drivers, in release date/version ascending order.

Can someone from Lenovo confirm if updating the drivers on my Flex 15 from the Windows Device Manager, using the "automagic" (Install the software automatically) search and update facility actually find the lastest drivers for my notebook -  or do I have to search through the Lenovo website for individual updates? Hopefully it's the former, but the device driver info on the Lenovo Support web pages left me a bit confused.   thanks

Answer:Lenovo Flex 15 - Driver updates

The Automagic search in Windows is a WQHL driver to ensure you are not left driverless. It does not connect to Lenovo's servers to check for updates.

I personally go to the different vendor pages to get the latest drivers (Intel, nVidia, Realtek, etc), however, this is not for the average user.

To make it easier, don't worry too much about updating drivers. There's a great philosophy followed by farmers:

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Drivers are like that. Is there a specific driver issue I can help you with?

I recently updated to the Windwos 10 Fall Creators update (Build 1709, 16299.125), and as soon as I updated, the graphics driver failed and switched to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Hello:I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my Lenovo U530.  I was able to get all my drivers installed, except for the touchpad.  The version I used was to05wb from the USA Support Website.  The touchpad is responsive, but without the Elan, Synaptics driver, I am unable to use touch gestures on the touchpad. When I try to install it, the files are unpacked and the installer is launched.  But the installer then dies without installing any drivers. Have already done a clean restart to install process twice, so not interested in trying that again.  Please let me know if there are generic drivers for Elan, Synaptics or other Lenovo machines that work on this laptop. Background of install:Windows 8.1 from MS downloads,All windows recommended and critical updates. From Lenovo:me03wb (Intel Management Engine)ch03wb  (Intel Chipset)au04wb  (Realtek Audio)cr02wb  (Realtek Card Reader)wwe3078e (Lenovo Energy management)From nvidia:352.86-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whqlNo other drivers installed.  Everthing else was default from Windows or Windows Update.

Hi dacoffee,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes you may upgrade your Flex 5-1470 SSD to 256 and 512 GB capacity for your future need.
Tech support can only assist on information and the original parts tied on the warranty but not on doing the upgrade nonetheless you have us here in our community to help you do your upgrade if needed.

Hope this helps answer your query.

I got the Lenovo Flex 3 15 as a gift. A few things that bothered me and the one I gave it to were the screen, sound, and mouse pad. Screen quality was good, except it did not seem to get bright enough. When watching a show on Netflix, it was darker than it shouldve been despite having brightness all the way up. The resolution was good except everything seemed too small. I was able to adjust that, but while things were bigger, everything was a tiny bit blurry. The sound was very disappointing. Quality was poor and it did not get loud enough. Lastly, the touch pad was just way too slick. Too easy to slide your finger around on.
Now I guess you get what you pay for. But the laptop performance wise was great. I dont know why they couldnt make the screen go brighter or beef up the sound. Its 2015. People expect to stream music/movies. Good sound now should be standard.
So now I am returning it. But have no idea what to get in its place. The person who is receiving this doesnt game. Basically a casual user but uses the laptop for music/movies/shows also. Id like to get something with a decent screen size, and doesnt weigh a ton. Something that can be upgraded to Windows 10. Any ideas? Looking to spend about $800

Answer:Looking for a laptop after disappointment with Lenovo Flex 3 15

Other options would be - if you had to buy it from Microsoft Store:

2) ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi Buy ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC - Microsoft Store
I'm sure you'll find plenty of other options if you to shopped around on manufacturer websites - for example
ASUS ZENBOOK UX305FA @ $849.
The Inspiron 15 7000 series i7 Model @ $799 (base)
The base model for the Lenovo Yoga 2 is at $599.

Hi, I just got my laptop 2 days ago, it's brand new. I find quite slow, not something core i7 perform like. It took 2-3 minutes to start up the systems/windows. I compare to my other core i5 laptop, it takes less than a minute to start the windows, way more faster than core i7 lenovo. Sometimes it will freeze a program, and i have no choice but wait or use task manager to kill it. And the IE browser is horrible to use, it always slow and unresponsive. I always use photoshop and dreamveawer and other adobe products. I think this laptop should not have any problem on handling all of these programs. It should be faster on using these programs, but I find it quite annoying that it always unresponsive for a few seconds before I can go to my next action. Some of the program take more than a minute to start up. Anyone facing the same like me? I really need help on this. Reply me please~~~

I'm having the same problem too. Only when my program freezes (mainly when trying to connect to the Internet) it is not even open on task manager and will stay up on my desktop without being able to click on it. My laptop is also a day old.

Lenovo Flex 2: www emag ro/ultrabook-lenovo-flex-2-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-4210u-1-70ghz-haswelltm-touch-screen-14-4gb-500gb-8gb-sshd-nvidia-geforce-840m-2gb-microsoft-windows-8-1-red-59425386/pd/DW3ZZBBBM/
Asus TP500LN-DN136H: www emag ro/laptop-convertibil-asus-transformer-book-flip-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-4210u-1-70ghz-haswelltm-fullhd-touchscreen-4gb-1tb-24gb-mssd-nvidia-gt840-2gb-microsoft-windows-8-1-black-tp500ln-dn136h/pd/DKF35BBBM/
The prices in dollars for the two are 775 dollars for the Lenovo and 900 dollars for the Asus. I should note that I am okay with sacrificing the Asus's SSD, the 500 extra GB of storage space, the 15.6 inch screen for a 14 inch one, as well as the possibility to go into full on tablet mode for the 125 dollar difference. However, I would like to know if, outside of these differences in specs, there would be any strong reasons which would make it worth it to shell the extra money for the Asus.
Thanks in advance!

Hello all,

I have a problem installing windows 7 on my new windows 10 laptop. I find it very weird how I change settings in the BIOS to support all legacy stuff like windows 7 and I try to boot from USB all the way to dvd and nothing works. What I mean is when it is done booting, it says " No drivers were found" and there's not a hard drive for me to choose windows 7. It's weird though because there are windows 7 drivers on the official support page, yet I can't install it?

I just need to see a hard drive listed but nothing pops up, and yes I've formatted it already using diskpart.

Thanks

Got this notebook two days ago and tried to use the tablet mode. I realized that the touch screen wasn't working and went to check the device manager only to find out that the HID compliant touch screen driver is missing. While checking, I noticed that Wacom device driver also could not start as well (Code 10). Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I really would like to use the tablet mode of this laptop instead of having to return it due to the touch screen not working.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 4-1470 that is runnign windows 10 and has an Intel AC-8260 wireless card. I am having problems whenever I try to connect to a specific wifi network. I can connect to my home network just fine but when I connect to the network at work I shut down the entire network (it has probably around 5 or 6 acccess points). The strange thing is that this problem with the work network just started a month ago, before that I was able to connect to the network just fine. I have tried a bunch of stuff including reinstalling the network card driver. Also, I didn't make any changes to the laptop around the time the problem started. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

My Flex 3 display has recently started flipping upside down into "tent mode" randomly. I have verified the setting in the diplay properties change to 180 with each flip and the problem corrects if I change back to 0 degrees, but the screen just flips again.  Hotkeys fix the problem and locking rotation also fixes, but if I don't lock the auto rotate, it happens all the time.  It never used to do this.  I have wiped the computer and reset to factory settings and this still did not fix the problem.  Any suggestions? TIA

Attention!Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update (pre-installed operating system is Windows 8.0) .More specifically, after update for Windows 8.1 all the  drivers (including the latest)  Intel (R) Iris (TM) graphics, Intel (R) Iris (TM) Pro graphics and Intel (R) HD GRAPHICS  installed on this laptop  does not support out of the sleep mode. This has been checked many times by different users laptop Flex 10.Any comments from Lenovo are absent. By Lenovo specifications for this notebook there are no conflicts with Windows 8.1. It is not true!It is unclear why Lenovo has admitted this deficiency.I think Lenovo Flex 10 is a mistake that will cost the company Lenovo.

Hello, I have a Lenovo Y40-70 running Windows 10. Today I tried to update my touchpad drivers from the Microsoft default drivers to the Synaptics drivers (to get 2 finger scroll); however, I can't seem to get it installed correctly, or the drivers are broken. I have tried installing the windows 10 drivers: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds103861I have also tried installing the windows 8.1 drivers: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds100287I have also tried getting drivers directly from Synaptics: http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php For the two drivers I got from lenovo's support site, after uninstalling old drivers, restarting, installing new drivers, restarting, I can get the Synaptics control panel that allows me to program the touchpad, but all the options are greyed out and it looks like the UI is a bit messed up/poorly scaled. For the driver from Synaptics, I do not get the control panel at all (although I do get the icon in the taskbar). For all cases, the touchpad's movement, left click, and right click all work, but there is no two finger scroll or three finger change desktop. Two finger and three finger gestures seem to not do anything at all. Control Panel for both drivers I got from Lenovo:

Hi,

My laptop just showed the blue screen. It is going through automatic recovery and gets stuck with above error message. I can only get into the bios screen. I can't get to the command prompt in safe mode. The laptop just goes back to error screen 0xc000007b. I don't have a usb boot drive. Please help to get past this screen. I can diy many things. Thx in advance for your help.

Answer:Lenovo laptop flex 15 has blue screen w/ intelpep.sys error 0xc000007b

Bad driver. WhoCrashed will tell you in plain language why that is happening. The file is actually intelppm.sys, which is a part of Windows and allows it to communicate between the APU/CPU/GPU. This error has been around since Windows XP. There is no real fix for when it happens, because it has gone on for so long that Microsoft has not figured out why.

The only thing that you can do is roll back to a previous restore point before you started getting this error. Last resort would be reinstalling Windows 10 as a Clean update with the ISO from microsoft.com, not the Lenovo OEM.

Hello, My parents have owned a Lenovo laptop for a couple of years now. However, recently this issue showed up and I wondered whether there is a chance there is a solution to this problem which I could try myself, since the laptop its warranty already expired. If I recall correctly, the model of the laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2, running Windows 10. So here is the issue; the laptop has issues turning on. Oddly enough, it is not a very consistent issue. Eventually, the laptop does turn on. The problem is that this sometimes takes hours, other times the laptop appears to be able to boot instantly as it normally would. I have no idea what affects this. When pressing the power button, the keyboard backlight starts flashing. It does this until the laptop completely boots, and as I said, the amount of time this takes varies. I already tried looking for solutions on different forums, but they usually concern the issue where the keyboard backlight flashed and the laptop simply will not boot at all, which is not the case here, as it eventually does but often it takes a while.Other solutions suggested a certain amount of flashes meant a certain issue or failure. Problem here is that the amount of flashes seem to be random, so it is not as if it just keeps looping a certain amount of flashes as it varies. This leaves me puzzled as to what could be the culprit. I am not sure what to do, especially since I have not owned a Windows-based machine in a whi... Read more

Hi itsasin,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number or MTM to verify the model (you can also get from here)?

Isolating the point of failure may be necessary to determine if the delay on start up is a power issue or a boot problem.
Try removing the harddrive so we can test if the machine can power faster.
You can download the hardware manual from the support website for removal guide.

Update us how it goes.

I'm using Windows 10 64-bit system, and have used it for over a year with no problems. This problem started kinda weird out. I was watching a movie, and I paused it to go take a smoke. I came back five minutes later and now I couldn't move the cursor from the touchpad, or barely. I tried deleting the synaptics driver and installing the latest version quite a few times. Here's the thing though, the touchpad works without the driver, though sometimes left click, and right clicking doesn't work, however I'm still able to move the cursor. When I install the synaptics touchpad driver left click and right click works, but I am not really able to move the cursor. I can see the touchpad respons to the pressure of my fingers moving across it, but it doesn't move the cursor along the screen or only a small amount.  I have tried different prressures on the touchpad, but with no luck. The problem occurred a few hours ago.

Hello everyone. Few days ago my laptop has made some update itself. And now I got few problems. First I noticed that my Google Chrome started to NOT respond. Then I couldn't even open any Folder on my PC. I tried to reset it with 10 second pressing on/off button. But nothing has changed. On the second day when I tried to zoom in on my Touch Screen, noticed that it doesn't work. Neither does keyboard on screen working. I have reinstalled my PC. Waited for half a day.... and it showed ALPS Apoint2k isn't working. I have tried everything. Downloading new drivers from manufacturer, scaning Windows and all that. Today I found out that there is no Tablet PC settings on my laptop anymore. When writing in Windows Search TABLET PC SETTINGS, it comes that " Tablet Buttons are not installed on this computer" "For more information, check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the computer manufacturer's website" Can anyone help me,please?((

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Unfortunately the GEforce Card is built in you cannot upgrade to another one, the only 2 things you can upgrade are the HDD & RAM.

Is your drive well defragged? That system should run fairly well. Run CCleaner, clean off some junk files. Make sure the power settings are configured for optimal performance.

Update us how it goes.

Hello,So i've upgraded my system to W10 on my Y580. The process was mostly painless, but i am very dissatisfied with the touchpad drivers provided by Lenovo (the ones automatically downloaded by Windows Update). They make the touchpad very imprecise, lack features present in W8 and W7 drivers and overally make for a very annoying experience. I constantly end up clicking stuff i wasn't even aiming for, sometimes the pointer doesn't move at all, and sometimes it behaves very erratically. I've since downloaded some drivers meant for different laptop models and they are a bit better when it comes to precision, but some unnecesary pointer movement still occurs. Also I don't know how to disable palmcheck. Is there any hope for improved drivers? It's incredibly annoying to use my computer without a mouse now (and i do that a lot).

Hey there, I just upgraded too! I ended up using an older version of the Windows 8.1 touchpad driver. It works perfect after some adjusting, just remember to go into the settings>scrolling> and uncheck "enable reverse scrolling".  You can download #8 at this sitehttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-Y580-Windows-8-Pro-64bit-Complete-Driver...

Still haven't gotten the two finger tap for right click to work quite right yet though. Online you're looking for synaptics toupad drivers for your Z580

Greetings Forums. So my Compaq laptop's harddrive broke a week ago, and I bought a Lenovo Z50 instead. While I do like my new laptop alot, Im quite annoyed by the touchpad. It acts up pretty frequently and wontwork properly again after a good 5 or 10 minutes, rendering the computer useless until that time intervalhas passed. I updated my Elan drivers, and while that solved the problem, I got another one: the palmlocklocks up every time I hold a button in a game, no matter how many options I disable. Not only is the Elan controlcentre pointless in telling me what shuts off what, even with minimum palm sensitivity it still locks my touchpad.I've tried several other workarounds, e.g turning off palmcheck in the PC and devices menu, not to mentiongoing into regeditand disabling  palmcheck from there, but nothing works. I'd really appreciate some help with this,I did after all buy a laptop to be able to play games on it.

This worked for me so I'd like to share: After a big waste of time tryng to install the driver for windows 8.1 from the lenovo's download support and have a working touchpad, I discover that the automatic procedure to install the driver It's wrong, and simply don't recognize the right hardware. So, from the device manager, go to mouse setting and select update driver. Choose update driver from computer, and after choose install manually the driver from a list in the computer (Sorry I have italian version so transation may be not properly...). Press Disco driver and now you have to find the directory where was installed the driver, usually C/drivers and find directory Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Sentelic). Chose the .inf file that might be good for you, for me was SynPD.inf. And so you'll be able to have your touchpad finally working...

The touchpad of my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is not working with Windows 8.1 or the newly installed Windows 10. It is neither recognised in the Device Manager, nor the Synaptics TouchPad Driver is listed among the installed programs in the Control Panel. Moreover, when I try to install the latest verion of this driver obtained from the Lenovo website, I am warned that "A previous version of the Synaptics TouchPad Driver is installed.", and that I should remove it first before continuing. If I try to install this version anyway, the installation is apparently successful, but I still cannot use the touchpad (nor the driver seems to be installed anywhere). What should I do to solve this annoying issue? Many thanks for your attention.

This is happening only when I installied touchpad driver provided by lenovo and works well with standard microsoft driver (Ofcourse, no multigesture support with that driver). We perfomed following operations:1. hi phani_kumar,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

AFAIK, the hotkey for the Touchpad is F6 (hotkey mode is disabled in the BIOS).

If you already tried that though, can you consider the following:
1. Uninstall the Touchpad and the Lenovo Energy Managerment Driver from the Control Panel (icon views ) > Programs and Features

2. Install the following Win8 Drivers:

Lenovo Energy Management Driver for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit)
Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Windows 8 (64-bit)

Let me know how it goes.

I have a L530. Because the latest UltraNav driver is such a pain in the derriere (when I wake up the computer from sleep or hibernation, the UltraNav settings in Mouse properties turn gray, and they reset themselves.  I turned off tap to click, but whenever the settings go gray, it undoes this), I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling the latest version on Lenovo's website (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028996).  That didn't make the graying issue go away, so I instead installed the latest Synaptics driver found here: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers However I ran into an issue when I couldn't see all the settings in Mouse properties (see here: http://i.imgur.com/7gVClYb.png).  There definitely are more settings than this (i.e. options to disable tap to click, among others).  How do I view all the settings?  Also if there are suggestions for drivers that allow me to access all the settings (and don't undo themselves), what are they? Thanks!

So after the recent update for Windows 10, dated 11/02/15, my touchpad has gone wonky. At first, there was no pointer at all. A call to support helped me update the driver and it seemed to work for a time. The pointer showed up and I was able to move it around. But after a restart, now the buttons don't work. No right or left, except for on the iniial start up screen. After I log in, no clicking unless I actually press on the pad, which doesn't work for right click context menus. Another call, another update, but still nothing. It works in safe mode, but not on a normal boot. There is no option for uninstalling the Windows update, so that's not an option.  So do I just wait for a new driver?  My external mouse works, so I have that . . .

I have had my Y510p for only a few weeks but it has taken me many evenings of hard work to get the laptop into a usable state. The laptop came with Windows 8 and a cost free update to Windows 8.1 in the app store. Upgrading created a whole slew of problems not only with drivers but also with the scaling of applications such as Chrome which required googling to find how to change the settings so that a decent font resolution was possible for all apps. One of the initial most irritating problems was that the touchpad could not be set to be stable - it was constantly jittery and when right clicking it often took several attempts to get a right click menu up on the screen before any of the options could be clicked. Also it was impossible to set the touchpad to do single finger vertical scrolling. The final main irritation was that there was no way to set it so that a gentle tap on an appropriate area of the touchpad would give the equivalent of a right click on a mouse. Usng the clickable bottom right of the touchpad was very frustrating all the time as well as  noisy, and I was close to abandonning the touchpad altogether, and resorting to plugging in a mouse instead. This remained a complete frustration until earlier this evening when I finally found the solution, not through the Lenovo site but on another laptop forum.  The Lenovo support matrix shows that the current driver available for the Synaptics touchpad is version 17.0.10.12.  On the ... Hello,
I would like to ask for your advice. After clean install of Windows 10 my touchpad is no longer working properly. I have Lenovo Ideapad G455 which has Alps touchpad. Everything was fine in Windows 7 but Windows 10 automatically installed Synaptics driver and it's not possible to install Alps driver which I have downloaded on Lenovo website. It says because of compatibility problems. I tried Alps driver for different Lenovo model from G series but it didn't help. Do you have any idea what should I try next? Thank you. Jaromir

Installation of the Windows 10 touchpad driver results in the loss of the edge scrolling function. I tried reinstalling twice. There's no setting to change in the device driver gui either. This is something that needs to get fixed, browsing the internet without it is a serious pain.

Hi, I have recieved my Ideapad z710 . I  have swapped the hard drive out to an SSD and I have chosen to install Windows 7. I purchased my machine based on the fact that prior to purchasing the machine, the Lenovo.com support page stated that it was Windows 7 compatible..  However, after installing Windows 7 Home Premium, the trackpad driver is not working the way it should be. This is an incovenience as I would like to use my track pad properly. I would love to keep this machine as I love the performace so far, however this issue is keeping me from doing so at the moment. Can we find a solution? Thank you Arthur

I hope you will allow me to link to the experts here. It has not been possible to clarify the information with the OS or notebook manufacturer.

Problems using a Lenovo Ideapad s300 primarily for use as a desktop machine prompts the clarification of possible causes and remedies. A link to a previous unsolved post to resolve the problems is documented at [1]. This post attempts to clarify the minimal mouse and touchpad driver requirements. The s300 uses an external display and mouse. The machine performed well, and reliably for approx. the first 7 months until 21.05.2015. After an automatic Windows 8.1 update; it began independently deleting folders, files and Desktop icons on the mouse Left Double-Click in Windows 8.1.

An obvious problem with the installed driver is in Control Panel -> Mouse Properties -> which displayed a "Hardware" tab, but no "Device Settings" tab as in [2]. The touchpad cannot be deactivated. As shown in [1] Device Manager displays no "Mouse" driver conflicts. This suggests a Mouse driver or Touchpad driver problem. The presently installed mouse drivers are shown in Device Manager at [1].

What are the minimal required mouse, keyboard and touchpad drivers for Lenovo Ideapad s300?

Clarification:
1) When is the Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit) required?
2) What is the recommended procedure to install the Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-... Read more

I just purchashed Lenovo Z480 recently and I installed it with Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. The touchpad driver I got is from Cypress, not synaptic. I had used Synaptic Touchpad driver before with another laptop. I found out the Cypress driver lacks of many features found in Synaptic such as: 1. No two-finger tap feature to simulate middle mouse button click (this is the most dissapointing).2. No one-finger horizontal/vertical scroll region feature (see this screenshot). 3. No three-finger tap feature to simulate context menu (right click).4. No speed setting for 2-finger scroll up/down feature. The current speed is a bit too high for me.5. Default Tap sensitivity is too low. I had to tap hard just to perform single click. Fortunately, this can be fixed by setting Palm Sensitivity to the lowest Light setting (from Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Mouse -> Cypress TrackPad -> "Click to Change Cypress Trackpad Settings" link  -> Palm Rejection).  I had tried installing generic Synaptic driver, but it seems it is not compatible with the laptop. Most features in Synaptic don't work, the setting in Control Panel -> Mouse -> Synaptic doesn't show anything except basic left/right button settings. Only the one-finger horizontal/vertical scroll region worked.  My questions:1. Why the synaptic driver doesn't work with my Z480? Is it because the touchpad hardware is only compatible with the Cypress driver?2. Is there ... Read more

A few weeks ago my friend bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 laptop pre-installed with Win8. I "Upgraded" to Windows 7 for him, as neither of us can stand the new OS. Usually I have no trouble reinstalling drivers after installing a new OS, but for some reason his touchpad driver will NOT install.I'm using the official driver for his computer, it's apparently a synaptics driver and it says it should work completely fine with Windows 7, but when I try to run the installation, I get the error "Synaptics Device Not Found!"There are a few issues that I believe are related to the driver not being installed that may tell you guys something. When he closes his laptop lid and open it again, his mouse jumps over the screen endlessly, and he cannot use the computer until he restarts. Also, he can't turn his touchpad off, which I assume is a function that comes with the driver.Any help or input is greatly appreciated, if you need any more information please feel free to ask. Thanks again,-Tyler

Answer:Friend's new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 refuses to install touchpad driver.

Are you sure that the touchpad is a Synaptics touchpad and not ElanTech? If it is ElanTech, try uninstalling the presently installed the driver. Then install the driver from the site. While installing the driver do not put a checkmark in the box that says Install Synaptics driver now.

Hey all, I'm brand new to the forums, but I've used the site countless times to help solve problems I've had with various computers.

I'm usually not one to directly ask for computer help, being the acclaimed "Computer Guy" in my circle of friends and family, it takes a little too long to get an answer if I need to fix something fast, but this case is a little different.

Hello, I have a 3 month old lenovo G50-70. Previously it was running with Win8, but now I put Win7 on in hopes to fix the problem with this. The problem: Everytime I start the laptop the left-click of the mouse and/or touchpad doesn't work. Usually, when you move over a Desktop object or objects in the taskbar tthey get highlighted. So after starting the laptop, you can see the highlighting when you move the mouse over objects. After you try to click (left) on any object the click doesn't work and the highlighting uppon mouseover stops. Right-click still works but you can't select anything with left-click.  What I tried until now:-driver up-date-switching from win8 to win7-restarting the PC-using a different USB mouse-using the touchpad with no connected USB mouse-switching on the disableing of the touchpad uppon USB mouse recognition-ctrl+alt+del (strg+alt+Entf)-disabeling Synaptec drivers and using some default drivers from windows When I restart the PC (reboot function, not turn off and on again) the mouse works again fine. Also when I press ctrl+alt+del at first it seams as if the mouse isn't working (no highlighting of any objects) but after I click anywhere (even just on cancel) the thing I clicked will not respond but suddenly the objects get highlighted again and left-clicking afterwards works fine again. So this is my solution for now. However, I don't want to do this everytime I start up my computer. Does anyone have a solution for... Read more

In June a friend bought a Lenovo Z50-70 laptop running Win 8.1. He particularly dislikes touchpads so uses a mouse. In 8.1 I was able to disable the touchpad for him, via Device Manager. He's now updated to Win 10 and the touchpad has come back to life. I've been trying to disable it again, so far without success.

In "Settings", the only option under touchpad is to alter the delay on using "click". No help there so I went to Control Panel.

In "Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices" there are only two options, "HID-compliant mouse" (which has a disable option) and "Lenovo Pointing Device", which I assume refers to the touch pad (is this assumption right?) and which can be uninstalled but has no "disable" option.

In "Device Manager > Human Interface Devices" amongst other things there are two entries both named "HID-compliant vendor-defined device". Both can potentially be disabled, but without further knowledge I'm disinclined to disable them in case I inadvertently disable the mouse in the process.

Any advice will be appreciated

Hello, I have a 2.5 year old Lenovo T61 laptop (14" screen). Which Lenovo laptops have the same touchpad (trackpad/trackpoint) technology as the T61? The touchpad on the T61 is by far the best touchpad I have used on any laptop. The touchpad feels good on your fingers (surface roughness?), is very responsive, and can be used for hours. Does anybody know the specification for this touchpad? Thank you, treaders

Answer:Lenovo T61 laptop touchpad specification question

T61 had similar touchpad to the T60, R60, R61, Z6x, etc.But the later thinkpads, T400, T500, R400, R500, W500 have a larger touchpad, but the feel of the touchpad surface is about the same. The current (latest) thinkpads, T4x0s, T410, T510, W510 have changed the surface feel of the touchpad. Most people like it, but some people don't.

I have a Lenovo G570 laptop (Win7 64 bit) with a Synaptics touchpad I would like to permanently disable or disable when a USB mouse is plugged in. This machine doesn't have a switch to turn off the touchpad and I never remember to hit Fn/F6 until I screw up my typing because I dragged my thumb over the stupid touchpad. I've tried programs that briefly shut off the touchpad when a key is pressed but they didn't work for two reasons: one, I often brush the touchpad before I hit a key, and, two, my USB mouse also temporarily shuts off.

The only selection in the driver is to permanently turn it off but when I select that, I get a popup saying, "You are about to disable the only active Synaptics pointing device." That makes me doubly nervous since programs that shut off the touchpad also affect the mouse and I?m afraid that if the touchpad is permanently turned off at the driver, it will also permanently shut off the mouse, effectively bricking my laptop. Any suggestions?

I'm tweaking a laptop owned by a family member. It's the first I've used with Windows 10 and I've found it very glitchy. Notwithstanding, I've sorted everything out to my satisfaction except one problem: the touchpad operated cursor keeps freezing. The tap-to-click feature seems reluctant to behave a lot of the time too.

I've been Googling for fixes now over a week and not totally resolved it so you'll know that driver updates, uninstall/reinstall etc just hasn't worked. Nor has disabling features in the touchpad setup.

This apparently is a well known issue with both Lenovo laptops and I can find no definitive fix.

Here's the setup:

Lenovo Z50 70.
Windows 10
Synaptics touchpad and drivers

I have found a workaround using the simple expedient of a two or three finger tap or switching the touchpad on and off using Fn + F6 but I'd like to put it to bed.

Any ideas?

From what I can determine, it has full driver support(chipset, graphic, audio, ethernet, wireless, touchpad, etc.) for Windows 10 64-bit.
What's the exact serial number on yours?

Does it have any issues when using an external USB or wireless mouse?

I am currently using a Lenovo Flex 3 1470 and the keyboard for it stopped working and now I can't type any numbers or activate any function keys. I have spilled tea on my laptop and got it wet in the past so I am now looking to get my keyboard replaced.  I have managed to find some Flex 2 14 inch US keyboards on eBay for less than $20 that look exactly the same as the one on my laptop, but I can't be certain unless someone confirms.  Are the 2 keyboards the same?

All went well, except that now I can no longer DISABLE TAP

Everytime I have restarted my computer since last night the driver for my touchpad has appeared in my taskbar. It's slightly annoying, and I can't get rid of it. I have reinstalled the driver from Sony's website, toyed with properties, and yet it still shows up each restart. If I close the application, my touchpad will not work properly (ie shortcuts non-functional). The driver is from ALPS.
I did try and install AcidWarp last night, and Julian Fractal Screen Saver. I have since uninstalled them. I have attempted several system restores, but each time the restore fails. Any ideas how to get this damned thing to not show up in my taskbar?
Thanks!

Hi!
About 2 months ago I bought this super gaming laptop by Toshiba(on sale 1 yr old and guarantee expired)(Store didn't tell me that part)and of course, I use it for gaming.
Last month I was into FPS and the touchpad kept getting in my way since the palm of my left hand kept swiping over it and I got killed easily.
therefore, to get rid of the problem, I disabled it from BIOS ( the updated 2.10 BIOS version ) and when I got out of the FPS spirit, I wanted to re-enable it again. but for my surprise it wasn't working!
I tried EVERYTHING I could think of.
-returning bios to original settings
-recovering my laptop to out-of-box state
but nothing.

does anyone here have ANY idea of how I can re-enable it again?

PS: Talked with a Toshiba representative and he didn't help me at all!

Answer:Toshiba laptop touchpad driver

Hi GKahn
Welcome

Try looking in control panel for mouse , see if it can be enabled from there.

You can also try hitting the fn key and f9 at the same time. On Toshiba that should lock and unlock the touchpad.

I have a Dell lap top, I am going by memory from what I have read in this Forum.

I have a recurring problem: many times, on a daily basis, usually after opening the lid of my laptop or turning the computer on after hibernate/sleep, the built-in keyboard and touchpad stops reacting!

This problem started or severed from the time I updated all drivers of the computer (using Driver Booster 3.5).

To reactivate my keyboard/touchpad again I have to hibernate the reopen the computer.

Whilst typing, the cursor "jumps" to another place in the text and because i dont look at the screen while typing, only see this later and then my sentence makes no sense.

Answer:Lenovo laptop touchpad jumping cursor problem

I haven't seen a solution, if it gets too bothersome you may want to try an external usb keyboard and that should work fine. The problem is with different brands too so I'm wondering if it's not a motherboard flaw of some sort. If I type real slow on a problem laptop and make sure my fingers don't touch the laptop mousepad, the cursor will not jump....it's like an intermittent problem.Another thing you might try is to disable the mousepad and use a usb or wireless mouse:http://www.technade.com/2007/05/how...That may work for you....good luckSome HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
